Excellent! We worked with Phyllis for the instrumentals for my daughters wedding. They played the music for her entrance and the cocktail hour reception. The music was absolutely beautiful and truly made for a very classy experience. Phyllis was delightful to work with. We could not be happier!
Excellent teacher with exceptional knowledge of different instruments and music.

One of the few record shops where you can find dated RnB, Neo Soul, and Hip Hop vinyl records. A lot of record shops around the city will exclusively just sell rock and pop, and just have a small selection of Hip Hop and RnB. Hyde Park records always has the classic albums I grew up on, along with tons of vintage magazines and collectables. Gave a few examples of things I’ve found across my vinyl hauls across the city. Most were found at Hyde Park Records though!
Great people dope selections
Great record’s at awesome prices!
Hyde Park Records is a mix bag. They have a little of everything like cassettes, VHS, DVD, magazines and of course vinyl. Sometimes I find a deal but most times it’s the same stuff. The prices are good though and that keeps me coming back. Plan on spending time to dig here if you come. Check the condition before you leave. No returns.
Ok to visit but dont expect much when trading in used vintage vinyls for cash. They take what you have but give you pennies for your trouble and charge a bundle for used vinyls.
Place you can take your records and get money. Cold pay more.
If spending top $$$$ for garbage records that are completely unlistenable is your thing, then this spot is for you!
Many better record shops in the city who actually have integrity in their product and respect for their customers.
Stopped in about 20 minutes before they closed and picked up a couple 45’s assuming they did some sort of quality control before pricing their albums. Some roots reggae priced at $4.99 per 7″. Came home to find the records unlistenable, terribly scratched and horrible quality. I returned to the store a week later with the receipt and records explaining they were unlistenable and asking to exchange them for something of equal value.
The (owner?) refused to exchange them and told me I should have listened to them before purchasing. I explained to him they were about to close so I didn’t have the time to listen before purchasing. He proclaimed this was my fault and still refused to exchange the records. Mind you, I was looking to exchange them, not for my money back. And I would have happily purchased more (after checking their quality this time) and continued to be a customer.
Terrible way to run a business in my opinion. I will never be back and I advise you to stay away. I gave the owner a chance to make things right, he did not. I’m down $10. He’s down my business and many others after I spread the word. His loss. Always a fan of supporting local business but this establishment does not deserve that support.
Rude and unprofessional
Tried speaking with owner made a comment of me being typical

Had a great experience getting my first guitar!
Thanks again Jon for helping me out.
Nice selection of guitars to look through and Jon was really helpful and informative throughout the process. I will definitely be back in the future.
Amazing customer service, great selection, and super helpful.
Kody is sooo knowledgeable and sweet. Also don’t hurt to look at. He could sell a glass of water to a drowning man.
Great service
Cool little used gear shop. They did seem to have some new items, as my friend purchased an amplifier. The employee was nice and knowledgeable.
Staff is friendly. Nice little selection if you dig around. Unfortunately they are not consistent with purchasing used gear. But always good for a trade.
Bad setup.
This place was a rip off. Purchased their 1 month 30 min guitar lessons on Groupon which was $60. I found it weird how Evolution Music was no longer available on Groupon shortly after my sons first day. Went before my 7 yr old started school and Josh still charged me the whole $120 without checking my Groupon and said we could extend his lessons for 3 months instead and was guaranteed my money back ANY TIME. A little later I started facing some personal problems along with my pregnancy and also my son was starting school. The latest lesson I believe is at 3 pm which was cutting it close. I asked for my money back and the manager refused. It really wasn’t even worth it at all. It would’ve been better if it was more than one day a week for a 30 min guitar lesson.
