If you are a songwriter or even a musician with a spark of an idea don’t wait, contact Steve at Studio 747. Steve listened to my songs and helped me create better arrangements, he challenged me to work outside the box and do things with the guitar I had never done before. Most importantly he was able to capture not only my sound but the energy of my performances, allowing me to showcase my individuality as a guitar player. Lastly, I can honestly say that I came away from my time at Studio 747 with more then recordings I could be proud of. I left there a better songwriter and musician.
What sets Steve and Studio 747 apart is that he is so much more than a producer. He is like a sherpa for your song. He has an innate sense of songcraft that he uses to guide you from the demo stage into something really magical.
His patience is incredible: he offered so much positive and constructive feedback on the vocal tracks that I didn’t feel like the clock was ticking. He felt like a musical partner; not just a hired hand.
I’ve never written a Google Review of any business before, but I had to for Studio 747. I had such a great time recording with Steve and the finished product is so excellent, that I really wanted to let others know about the experience.
Bottom line, Steve is exactly the kind of person you want handling your song.
Steve and Studio 747 have once again brought my songs to life. A comfortable and inspiring atmosphere combined with Steve’s expertise in engineering, production, songwriting and to top it all off a professional multi-instrumentalist, 747 Sound is the complete recording package. I look forward to our future projects.

Address: 722A E Hill Rd, Southbury, CT 06488 , Southbury , Connecticut , United States
Great honest shop here. Had a great online interaction with Dave via email. Want to know why I trust them? Because they talked me out of a purchase. Ha! Thanks again!
A hidden gem UPSTAIRS. Don’t miss it. Dave the owner is great, and talented. Patrick Gill is the PREMIER guitar TECH in the whole northwest CT region. He works miracles at a very fair price. Excellent teachers, Will for piano and keyboards and Mike for guitar and bass. Better check them out. I only trust my guitars to Dave and Patrick. Won’t go anywhere else. Seriously.
Woodbury Music is the best shop around of all of your instrument needs! The shop owner Dave, is both friendly & knowledgeable! I have gotten both common things done (fixing of saxophone keys) as well as unusual things done (fixing of a dulcimer bridge) and everyone has always been great! I have also taken lessons for almost three years now, and my teacher Mike is not only a dedicated teacher, but also a very talented professional. Stop by and check it out!
Fran/Sound Advice services the Allen Digital Organ at our church, and we feel very lucky to have such a knowledgeable and professional technician. He keeps our organ in excellent repair — no problem ever throws him. We recommend Sound Advice to any church or other owner of an organ in the very highest terms. He is the best to be found!
A had a problem with a Kurzweil Cup-2 Digital Piano which stopped working. The issue was with the internal “sound engine,” which Fran determined to be the issue on his first visit to my studio. Once we found the replacement part, Fran updated it by replacing certain electronic components on the sound engine to prolong its working life. This was done because the part in question is no longer being manufactured, and even though “new,” was likely several years old. Once done, Fran stopped by and installed it, and tended to a few troublesome notes on the keyboard that were either too loud or getting stuck. All in all, working with Fran was a pleasure. He is professional, friendly, easy to be around, and he really knows his stuff.
Francis did an AMAZING repair of my Hammond C3 organ.. He was polite and observed all COVID safety protocols when he came to my studio. His knowledge of the Hammond is truly remarkable and it’s never sounded better!!!
8. Chatfield True Value Hardware
Address: 190 Main St S, Southbury, CT 06488 , Southbury , Connecticut , United States
I like the folks who work here, they were very helpful. Nice huge new store with service department downstairs.
Best place for incidentals. It’s personal , people are knowledgeable of products and very helpful. Easily accessible and prices equal to big box give or take so support the locals !
They had what I needed, just had to find it myself. They are adhering to all social distancing.
The last weekend in June the mower belt broke on my John Deer Tractor, so I called Chatfield’s and asked if they fix John Deer Tractors and they said they do. But, it will be two weeks before we look at it. At that point we will call you to let you know what is wrong with it. O.k. so far.
One month goes by, it’s July 30th and I have not heard from them, so I call in. They tell me it is only the belt and nothing else is wrong. The belt has been on backorder, but they just got a shipment that has not been unloaded yet, so your belt is probably here now.
Three weeks go by; it’s August 22 and no call back. I call them and they say, the belt is on back order from the distributor. “Unfortunately, there is nothing they can do if they are not shipping the parts”, I’m told.
Then, they call me the next day and say, “we have done some research since you last called and located a belt for your tractor. We will take care of you on the price since it has taken so long”. You will have the tractor for the weekend.
But, Monday the 26th comes and there is no tractor, so WE call and they say that the distributer sent the wrong size belt. No ETA on when a new belt may arrive.
So, what to do? We Google “John Deer parts, CT” and find a John Deer store in New Milford and call them. They carry the mower belt in stock or we can go to Farmington as they have also had the belt in stock also. We call Chatfield’s back and tell them that WE will go get the correct belt for them so we can finally get our tractor back. It’s a bit of a “heated exchange” since it has now been about 55 days and we still have no date as to when we will get our tractor back (paying $45 ever 10 days to have our lawn cut while waiting for the tractor, $225 up to this point) We buy the belt from John Deer and drop it off on Tuesday the 27th.
Wednesday the 28th I get a call that the tractor is ready and the bill is $225. I said that seems like a lot for a belt. The last person who called me (and only person in almost 2 months) said, “because of the very long time this has taken we will take care of you on the bill”. His answer is “Well, “I’m the service manager and I am the only one who calls customers and I never said that”. Now, does he mean I imagined the conversation or does he mean I am lying? Hmm Before I say anything, he tells me he will take $50 off and only charge me $175 instead. I say OK, and hang up quickly. I believe its best not engaging a person who will argue about the topic of a conversation that they were not present for.
At 2:30 my tractor is delivered but the $175 bill does include a $51 charge for that very same belt that we drove to New Milford to buy and then delivered to them. So, I had to have the poor deliver guys call in and have the $50 taken off the bill.
In the end to get the mower belt fixed it took about 57 days, cost $121 and required us to drive to New Milford to purchase the correct belt and deliver it to them. Not so good.
Their hours still list them as being open till 6:00. They are open till 5:00. This kind of screwed me over.
The wors company ever I rented a mini excavator for 7 days they delivered a junk excavator with issues I started to do the backfield and the hose blow up
I call them and someone on phone was very rude!
I paid the amount for full week and insurance included! They charge me $180 extra for the hose!
I never heard or got charged extra in rental tools!
Short they are sucks and disrespectful people I will never rent again from them!
9. Phil’s Guitar Shop
Address: 255 Main St S, Woodbury, CT 06798 , Southbury , Connecticut , United States
I’ve known Phil for over twenty years – lessons, purchases, repairs, you name it.
Always fair and a consummate professional willing to offer advice and help however he can. Check out his custom tele’s – they’re great and it would be tough to find a better value for what you’re getting.
Also happens to be one of the finest players/teachers I’ve come across!
Bought several guitars here and became a student and friend.. Always feel welcomed and appreciated.
We are very happy with Route 7’s sales and service. We recorded down in Nashville, TN earlier this year and Route 7 Music’s repair shop got our guitars and banjo setup and ready to record. We wont go anywhere else now.
Do not follow hours on door or website, very dissapointing 🙁

11. Umbo Gumbo LLC
Address: 732 Spruce Brook Rd, Southbury, CT 06488 , Southbury , Connecticut , United States
staff works fast and hard though if i am ever harrased by a customer again for wearing a mask indoors i will not go back
Had the Mcfish sandwich. It was okay but it seems to have gotten smaller. Service was quick and the food was hot.
The kiosk ordering tripled the length of the ordering process, the person bringing us the food was rude, and one of the employees cut my husband and put children in line for the one stall in the mens room.
Food is Mcdonald’s, what would you expect? The service is terrible, line could be to the door but they only have 1 maybe 2 registers open. It’s unreal. This is the worst excuse for Mcdonald’s service in the area. The turnover rate is high too, seems like people only last a month or two. No drive-thru.
Dirty store manger not in uniform and had friends hang there girl was sitting on counter
14. Hudson’s Cafe & Bistro
Address: 466 Heritage Rd, Southbury, CT 06488 , Southbury , Connecticut , United States
Hudson’s Cafe is a cute little cafe, breakfast and lunch place in Southbury. The staff was extremely friendly. Tori C. was our barista/waitress and was super friendly! The Breakfast bowl is definitely the best bang for your buck meal and did not disappoint with the display and flavors! The coffee was also delicious, the special that day was lavender and honey!
I try to come here as often as I can, great vibes, friendly staff. I love the food and I find the lavender cappuccino exceptional. Also great decor and super clean.
My daughter & son-in-law took me here on Saint Patrick’s Day. We were so impressed by the amazing decor.
The menu was outstanding…so was the delicious food and dessert choices.
The chef and staff were so friendly and quick.
So thank you Demos, Jessie & Sierra.
We’ll be coming back soon!
Nice menu and decent food but over priced. Employees are not very attentive. Poor customer service and management. Didn’t have the courtesy to respond to constructive criticism nor apologize for the poor service.
Went on a Friday around 6pm no wait, staff was extremely friendly. The food was good I ordered a small plate as I was passing by and wanted to try them.
We had a yummy cinnamon roll
I had the chorizo flat bread.. I tough It would have small pieces of the chorizo but it was more like a paste, but tasted ok.
My daughter had a grilled cheese and she said ” it was the best grilled cheese I have ever had” she is 9 so def true! But it did look good.
I will try them again.
We each had a special a prime rib sandwich with fries and a barbecue chicken wrap both were very tasty
Pretentious, very overpriced and simply the worst service.
I’ve attempted to try the establishment due to it being in a very convenient location, but my experience has been repeated each time. My order was very simple, but the young woman entered the order incorrectly on her screen; when I immediately corrected her she said she couldn’t change it-although it was a moot point since despite there being a total of one other customer, I ended up leaving without my food as the wait was intolerable.
Very possibly the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced, and will never returrn despite being very close to my home.
Do yourself a favor and read the reviews from those that actually received their orders-the food appears to be as bad as the service.
Took over 20 minutes to serve 2 egg players. To top it all off the toast was ice cold and dry. When asked about butter we were tol the didn’t have any. Will never go back. Twice there and dissatisfied both times
Over priced, and food not exactly what I was expecting, especially for the price.
15. Studio19 Records
Address: 87 Royal Coach Ln, Southbury, CT 06488 , Southbury , Connecticut , United States
This is a state of the art studio with a huge amount of excellent audio equipment, plus a control room with extensive treatment that rivals major Million Dollar facilities. Studio owner Luiz Serva is a great guy who excels at both audio and music. He’s also very easy to work with. Studio19 Records gets my highest recommendation.
Incredibly professional and uses state-of-the-art equipment. Luiz recorded voice overs for a large e-book narration project with multiple people seamlessly and re-mastered the voices to a quality which I have never heard before this. Pricing was very fair and Luiz was a staunch professional, incredibly kind and fun to work with. We recorded in NYC with some of “the best” and Studio 19 production quality is more than competitive, but the overall experience much more personalized. Grass-roots feel with big city quality; can’t recommend enough!
Luiz is friendly, knowledgeable, and his studio uses only the best gear! It’s also professionally treated, so you know you can trust what you’re hearing. If you’re looking for a premium studio, look no further!
16. Upper Room Thrift Shop
Address: 262 Main St N, Southbury, CT 06488 , Southbury , Connecticut , United States
My daughter took piano lessons from several places over the past few years. Her favorite of all the teachers was Pat at Westbury Music. She has a great formula that kept her engaged and not dreading her classes. Every week she looked forward to the lesson.
Great, friendly and fast service!
excellent store, good Fender Selection, nice acoustics, lessons, and school instruments.
Ordered instrument for my son, was told to pick up the next day, went the following day to pick it up and it wasn’t there. Also bought a box of reefs for the instrument and was given the wrong kind. The gentleman that waited on us was polite, although he didn’t recognize us even though we had just been in the day before!
