Had my guitar set up and it sounds and plays absolutely amazing! Low action and tone has been improved dramatically .
Will come back again!
Great for all your musical needs
These guys are the bomb ! They were very helpful in helping me pick out some holiday gifts. The store is clean and the staff is friendly. Will definitely return.
Atienden bien pero son lentos
Friendly and great customer service!
Not very good service and the staff was all sitting in front of the instruments just hanging out so I couldn’t really look at the guitars any closer. It was almost like they though I wasn’t going to buy something so they didn’t bother to be helpful. I ended up leaving with a guitar case and when I asked if it would fit my Breedlove they didn’t even know what that was. I would say the staff is not very educated but the store has some cool and unique instruments that I would’ve loved to look at or even purchase but couldn’t get to.
I wish I didn’t have to give a bad review.
I hate saying anything negative about a local music shop, especially one who normally does so well with its customers, but I had an experience with their repair shop that is disappointing enough to take my business elsewhere.
I brought in an old trombone for a dent repair on the bell side, which yes they repaired quickly and at a good price.
But in the process they tried to adjust the slide and ended up knocking it so out of alignment it couldn’t slide back into 1st position.
When I pointed it out the tech made an attempt to bend it back to its original shape but unfortunately that only made it worse. after a few weeks in the case like that it ended up stuck shut.
I when I called the shop to look for a solution the tech said it wouldn’t be as simple as bending it back to shape, and instead quoted me a price to redo the slide, which is more than a new trombone would set me back
if I brought in a broken instrument and left with a broken instrument I could just accept it as a lost cause, but the horn played fine when I brought it in and is the only one I have.
I just brought it in for a cosmetic dent repair and I did not ask for the slide to be touched at all.
now I have to find a new repair shop or a new trombone, either way, I am disappointed by the outcome.
sad i have to change my review, really wanted to like this store but after returning our bass we ended up with one with a broken neck pick up and electrical problems. it kept making cracking and popping while it was plugged in. needless to say we returned it and got our other one back. we fixed up the flaws ourselves but point being you guys need to pay attention to these pieces you’re selling and work on them before you sell them. don’t sell somebody something like that.
Internet says its open on memorial day! I drive there to find out its closed!
5. Chicago Music Store
Address: 5646 E Speedway Blvd, Tucson, AZ 85712 , Summit , Arizona , United States
My dad shops here constantly! The owner mark is so helpful & recommended a great piano teacher for me! We will continue to shop here for all of our musical needs!
Great selection of instruments. I really like the customer service and the repair technicians rock. I took my daughter’s saxophone in for repairs and received very professional repair at a reasonable price. I would definitely take it back there if it needs any additional tweaking but so far so good my daughter is over the top pleased with how the horn sounds.
Well what can I say this place is top notch Mark the owner was very helpful and I would highly recommend for any of your musical needs you gotta go to see Mark and the crew at The Chicago Store . Thanks Mark
Everyone was nice wish they would have returned the product I purchased tho.
Helpful and friendly. Very knowledgeable about the product and give you space to look around.
I talked to jim the repair guy and he was super helpful and knew exactly what I was talking about.
This a terrible place to rent from. The guy in charge is sleazy and pushy.
The guitar technician is one of the worst I’ve encountered in the many years I’ve been playing guitar. He was VERY rough with a 1300 dollar guitar. In his haste and carelessness he damaged a flamed maple top. He shrugged his shoulders and said, “that is what happens when you work on a guitar”. I can’t imagine the damage he creates behind customer’s backs. His methods of examination and his repair knowledge was at a staggering incompetent level. I DO NOT RECOMMEND going to this technician. Don’t know his name. Just best to stay clear from any tech from the store on speedway.
Worst Music Store in Tucson. Don’t ever buy from them.
6. Metro Gnome Music
Address: 4044 E Speedway Blvd, Tucson, AZ 85712 , Summit , Arizona , United States
Excellent shopping experience with Todd. Very knowledgeable and patient with me and my family. I purchased 2 Tern Link C8’s to take with us on our RV adventures and I was able to find a suitable product and I am very pleased. I would highly recommend Metro Gnome and Todd for your next bicycle purchase.
Great service! Bo is so helpful and knowledgeable. Get local instrument shop!
Brought bass clarinet accessory!
I was selling an amp and a saxophone. Pretty easy to work with, at least easier than the place who referred me over. I was asked if I could be helped and was helped quickly.
Unique place for sure but a bit pricey. Then again who isn’t these days.
Will Rip You Off
Not a word from staff my whole visit. Sales 101
I thought it was a music store, but it is a bike store
Alycen helps my kids engage and they have a blast every time!
We love Miss Alycen! She has a great way with the kids, she keeps it upbeat and fun and helps the concepts stick without it feeling like work!
Ms. Alycen is so kind, encouraging, and upbeat as she goes through the music with our littles. She praises the kids often and has a very light, happy atmosphere in her home. My kids look forward to “music time” every week.
8. Family Dollar
Address: 9776 S Nogales Hwy, Tucson, AZ 85756 , Summit , Arizona , United States
I enjoy shopping there. The people are very helpful. Also, we know everyone by name. Tje store we go to is on South Nogales. The managers name is Mary.
This is one of the better family dollar stores it’s always clean and the staff is always friendly
I don’t live close to this store and always to get how much I love it.
I am more a 99 cent store patron but this dollar store was stocked to the gills and had everything we needed to wrap Christmas packages.
Very clean
Friendly associates and I can get in and out quick. Love Family Dollar. I go to stores through out southern az
Garbage company .
These girls are SO RUDE and treat customers like thieves….apparently one of the girl’s mom stole her wallet….news flash, sister, EVERYONE IS NOT LIKE YOUR MOM!!!!
Kids working there need to learn how to take care of customers and not be on their phones and eating chips and drinking there soda shame on owners and chain of family dollar
Mariachi Tucson made my fathers 60th birthday a one to remember. Loved their vibe, good sense of humor, lots of laughs. Olivia certainly sings beautiful and compliments the mariachi so well. Booking was a breeze and I would most certainly recommend them to anyone!
Beautiful performance. Great prices and so much talent. Thank you
My wife was so happy and overwhelmed with emotions when she was serenaded on her birthday… Priceless. Thank you Mariachi Tucson for a memorable occasion.
The band was late for my son’s wedding. They did prorate, but otherwise unwilling to play the full hour because they had another engagement afterward. They were sent a list of songs a month in advance but, only played their list of songs. They sounded pretty good, but I don’t think it is fair to the group members because the leaders are not punctual. The lead was then chatting with people at the wedding afterwards, and I mentioned that they should go so that they would not be late to their next appointment. They offered to give us a discount if we had another event, but it did not help for the wedding. Although we were not happy that they were late the crowd did not know any different and they seemed to like the music. I just did not think they grasped how important it was to us that they should have been on time for such an important event. It was just a lot of excuses.
I reserved Mariachi Tucson for my dads 75th birthday 2 months in advanced and they never showed! What a disappointment!
DO NOT HIRE, they won’t show up!!! We booked and even called and confirmed the week of and no one showed. They have yet to give me my deposit back. I’ve tried to give them multiple chances to make things right and they won’t even call me back. DO NOT HIRE!!!!
No matter what DO NOT HIRE THEM!!!!! We paid them to come to my sisters wedding and no one showed up. Then when we tried to call both of the owners neither one of them would give us an answer as to what happened or give us our money back. Absolutely horrible business practice and horrible customer service. Not to mention it was the only thing that my brother-in-law really wanted at his wedding and they screwed it up. Then he tells my sister that “deposits are non refundable” but Charlie promised us our money back. See the photo. He is also now threatening to report us for leaving honest reviews. Choose wisely!
10. De-No Music Center
Address: 801 E Florence Blvd # B, Casa Grande, AZ 85122 , Summit , Arizona , United States
Awesome place have been going there for stuff for about 20+ years. Always very helpful and nice.
I took my 71 year old Alto Saxaphone to De-No Music to get the pads changed etc. as my granddaughter Kyra was going to play it in the band. The service was excellent and the cost was fantastic. Can’t thank these people enough!
Went here for my daughter… staff was super nice and friendly… made everything so easy…
Best music shop.
They have use and new instruments.
Went to buy a guitar but no assistance from the clerk was offered and large sign indicated you can’t touch them without assistance so we left. Makes it difficult to make a purchase. To be fair the clerk was waiting on another customer but just continued to ignore us and didn’t even bother to say “hello” when we entered the store. Not much available there in the way of instruments unless you need used amps, guitar stands, cheap guitars, or ukuleles.
I’ve been there quite a few times before. As a child the owner was alright but somehow he just became rude after a while. There was a time when I was 19(9 years ago) and there was an 800 dollar Jackson on the wall that I really wanted. I brought $850 dollars with me and jammed out on it for about 5 minutes, the owner came up to me and said “If you put one scratch on this I’m going to make you pay for it, do you understand?” I know I look young and I looked about 15 at the time but there have been several times(like yesterday{let me play for 4 minutes and told my party to leave when I wanted to buy a practice amp}) that I brought money in to make a purchase of over 300 dollars and he makes me uncomfortable or says something rude. If you need a reed, or if you need a rental, this is a good place. If you’re a musician, and you want to try stuff out, drive 40 minutes, the owner has been rude to me for 15 years. I swear he hates musicians.
Came in for guitar picks and strings and was thinking of buying an acoustic guitar on the wall. I asked if I could play it he said “yes”. I played a couple chords and got kicked out for playing it to “hard”.
11. USA Pawn & Jewelry
Address: 420 W Valencia Rd, Tucson, AZ 85706 , Summit , Arizona , United States
420 W VALENCIA LOCATION IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE PAWN SHOPS. THE EMPLOYEES ARE ALWAYS HELPFUL AND WELCOMING ESPECIALLY MARCUS . HE GOES OVER AND BEYOND TO HELP YOU WITH YOUR NEEDS OR CLOSE TO IT ANYWAYS ! THNKX GUYS
Been a customer with usa pawn for many years at almost all their locations with this one on 12th and Valencia being the best one I’ve been to so far. There are two gentlemen one by the name of Holden who is exceptionally nice and goes over and beyond in person and over the phone. Highly recommend this location!!!! Thank you
Joe and Marcus were very helpful in choosing our bass
Got a good deal on a laptop… the employees were very friendly was a great experience
The staff is extremely inexperienced and unprofessional in terms of making claims. I went to sell my diamond, they falsely said that it doesn’t look like one piece diamond. We paid $10k from Siebke Hoyt to have ring custom made around one piece 1C Clarity J diamond. Why would a well reputable diamond shop that custom made this ring sell fake ring? They could easily check the Siebke Hoyt website and verify like the other diamond shop did. But she refused to do. They also offered much lower than other pawn shops. Completely inexperienced, rude and unprofessional.
Edit: After this review the district manager called me and apologized for the shop’s unwillingness to help. He recommended another branch, I got call from the store manager next morning right away. I am currently evaluating other options for selling so I may not be coming in. However I really appreciate the willingness to help after what I have experienced. I edited my rating after this experience with district manager.
Juli took care of me & my husband. She was amazing respectful, she took really good care of us. Just want to let you know she did a fantastic job. Make sure you guys take care of juli. She is one of a kind.
Offered me $3/ounce for silver eagles, this place is to be avoided!! Silver is at $19/ounce\ at present time.
This pawn shop is one of the worst pawn shops in Tucson, alot of stolen and broken items that particular staff do not know how to price or even how to keep product clean and store looking nice! It’s in a crime riddle area! And to boot everyone here seems like there here and hate there job. No smiles or greets when walking in and on top of that the rudeness is uncanny! People commenting before me about this are right! Nothing against them but i will not be coming back to this shop I’d advise the same you got plenty of other shops way better prices and cleaner nicer looking selection you’ll feel better about spending your on just your friendly Google guide 🙂
Horrible experience. only had one cashier open. I was next on line for that one cashier, then suddenly when the other person decides to open another lane a lady jumps in on line. Instead of assisting me since I been waiting on line for 10 minutes, helps the next lady who had just entered the store. Then when I asked how much they buy DVD’s for, he said 50 cents, then suddenly the cashier next to him buys some other guy’s dvd’s for a Dollar each. They are Shady, and they rip you off. Don’t go to this pawn shop. they will definitely try their best to screw you. Their customer service is very poor.
12. The Music Store
Address: 2630 W Baseline Rd, Mesa, AZ 85202 , Summit , Arizona , United States
THIS PLACE IS AWSOME! THE SALES STAFF WERE VERY PLEASANT, NOT TO MENTION KNOWLEGABLE….. HAVEN’T SEEN AS MANY ALVAREZ ACOUSTICS IN ONE PLACE!!! DREDNOUGHTS,CLASSICALS ETC. NICE SELECTION. THEY EVEN HAD THE PICKS I’VE BEEN IN SEARCH OF. GOING TO HAVE TO LOOK THE PLACE OVER NEXT TIME I VISIT
I love this little music shop! I support local business whenever possible, and always prefer to come here when I need music equipment or a repair done on my electric-acoustic guitar. I’m extremely protective of my guitar and each time I get work done on it, they do an impeccable job for a very fair price. I trust the repair shop folks here 100% and appreciate their attention to detail and their excellent customer service. Highly recommend!
A friend of mine recommended Brendan (in-house luthier) for some bridge work I wanted to have done on my mandolin. He understood exactly what I was trying to achieve and delivered quickly and affordably. My mando has never sounded better and I will be bringing all of my instruments here when they need work from now on!
Fui una vez a ver las guitars
Great verify of sheet music and ukuleles and an awesome luthier.
The instruments we have rental have been pretty worn but still work well and it is an OK deal for the price. Customer service is helpful and friendly. We have been pleased with our violin rental over this past year and will continue renting here into the next school year.
“Jp” the owner looked right at me and said “no” to giving me a 10% teacher discount for an $11 red label string. Thanks bud.
DO NOT shop here, the employees are rude, the owner is rude, their selection sucks, not even half of what they had even a year ago. Quality has gone way down hill. It won’t be long till they’re gone.
Discriminated against me for having a disability.
13. Sun Valley Guitars
Address: 10147 Grand Ave Suite B9, Sun City, AZ 85351 , Summit , Arizona , United States
Brian is a talented string instrument guy and easy to work with. Found myself guitarless in Phoenix for a month and needed something reasonably priced to play. He fixed me right up, a really pro setup, changed out for better strings, and reasonably priced amd a great guy to do business with
So it was 3 in the morning and I couldn’t sleep so I googled guitar restringing. It’s my husband’s birthday and the guitar is one he got from his late dad. I sent a message and sure enough, I got a response by the time i woke up! So cool! He offered that I could come in on the day they are closed as they were moving!!!! How cool is that?
I ordered a mandolin arm rest and love it. Looks a feels great. Reasonably priced.
14. Redbox
Address: 525 W Valencia Rd, Tucson, AZ 85706 , Summit , Arizona , United States
They take 60 Dollars out of my account and they can’t tell me why they pulled out so much or if I forgot to take back s movie and I always goto red box and now my card don’t work at any of the red boxes don’t get me wrong it was great before all that happened
15. Brindley’s Music Center
Address: 836 N Arizona Ave, Chandler, AZ 85225 , Summit , Arizona , United States
Amazing service!
I’ve had Brinkley’s service my bass, two electric guitars and one acoustic guitar and every single time the work is affordable and fast.
Absolutely incredible place to get repairs or just get a tune up.
Bruce did an excellent set up on my son’s Taylor acoustic, will definitely be bringing our instruments here in the future.
Very knowledgeable and helpful staff. Good no. Of instruments available for buying and rentals. My first experience at this store was great.
Fix it for the most part. Still feels as if the instrument is leaking from somewhere on the lower register. Still hard to push low notes without struggle.
They are wonderful people and always take care of their customer by heart.
Good music store for those looking for something specific…not much to look at for those who want to look around or window shop (especially for drum equip). Other than that, it’s a good local music shop. They used to make their own brand of drumsticks, which were GREAT, but last time I went they said they no longer make them. Bummer!
I went here to have a new nut out on an old guitar of mine. The nut is cut too short making the strings buzz. Now I am left fixing it myself which sucks since I paid almost $60 to have it fixed.
Called to inquire about an instrument. Owner laughed at my question and was extremely rude. He didn’t answer my questions, and refused to give any useful information.
Expensive and poor service. took my beautiful holton Bb trumpet their to have the 2nd valve slide replaced. it is a standard mass produced turmpet, ans WAS worth about $650. it was beautiful with a sparkeling finish. they lost my order and it took 3 weeks when I called them to inquire about it. i was told $40 to fix the slide (found out later that part only cost $15) and it would take a week. they chem washed it, wich i said to not do and it RUINED my trumpet. it looks like crap, their is 3 dents in my bell where their weren’t any before and after i called at the 3 week point it still took another 2 for them to get around to fixing it. in the end, they ruined my finish, put the wroung part on, and dented my trumpet multiple times. O AND they expected me to pay $85 for it all. they chem washed it because they forgot to write down the repair needed and assumed it was a was, and they charged me for their mistake. Good at smooth talking but anyone can seem like they know what their saying. they were horrabile and unless you want to over pay and have your instrument ruined, dont go here. o and my sisted paid $1000 for a flute which was “new”…the saudering from when it was returned to them from the last owner broke in about a week and they repaired it wroung 3 times before they got it right where it broke again 3 days later.
16. Milano Music
Address: 38 W Main St, Mesa, AZ 85201 , Summit , Arizona , United States
Very neat selection of instruments from any style or ensemble you may need! Prices are on the high side, especially for little percussion pieces, but provided you know what you need or want, they undoubtedly have it. They sell most everything one needs to start a band or start in any instrument. They sell electronic gear for keyboards, guitars, pedals, and most other recording purposes. They also clean and repair brass instruments and guitars in house. Awesome place!
Longtime local store that services the musicians who tire of the big chain stores
It was okay. I’m sure for most people, you’ll find what you are looking for.
Great prices and selection. Willing to special order as well. Good teachers for private lessons and activities to bring local community of musicians together.
Wanted to help a brick and mortor so I went in and ordered a music book. Told me that it’d take two weeks to get it. WOW! could have had it in one from the net. It’s been three weeks and no book. Phone calls have gone unreturned or a “we’ll call when it gets here.”
After nearly 4 wks, I got my order. Checking the publishers’ suggested prices, I see that I was charged $1/book over list price.
Next time I’ll use the internet.
I was waiting in line for a rental for about 20 min given it is a busy time of the year but everyone who walked up after me got attended to first. Just seemed very selective which rubbed me the wrong way.
No encontré lo que buscaba
17. Zimm’s Guitars
Address: 1305 W Guadalupe Rd Ste E1, Mesa, AZ 85202 , Summit , Arizona , United States
Nice music shop with a ton of instruments and gear! Dane (owner) is very personable and struck up a conversation with us right when we entered. There are a lot of used guitars, amps, guitar pedals, and much more. I highly recommend stopping in!
Zimm was an execellent help! Got me into a guitar I loved for way less than I was expecting to pay, great shop great guy!
The owner is a really experienced tech and fellow musician. Inventory is great, with a wide variety of high quality amps and instruments. I highly recommend them if you are a gear nerd like me.
Fun, friendly guitar shop.
Excellent small guitar shop one of the best on town
Nice guy. Mostly cheapo brands. Lots of pedals. Guys deals in used gear. I have found a few cool items there. But you need to stop in every week or two as inventory changes.
Showed up right after 5:30pm and they were closed. Hours say open until 6pm.
Heard good things about them, but don’t advertise that you are open hours that you are not open, maybe I’ll change my rating for it when I go in there and they’re actually open when they say they are
18. Guitar Center
Address: 1652 S Val Vista Dr Suite 118, Mesa, AZ 85204 , Summit , Arizona , United States
Austin is terrific! He really went above and beyond and was very laid-back and easygoing and made the whole process very smooth. I’m very happy with my purchase. It’s unusual to get a person who follows through on everything they promised and he did exactly that.
They are very helpful!
Excellent service as usual
This is a nice location. They have great selection of all musical instruments and they teach too.
This guitar Center location is one of the more better stocked guitar Centers I have been to. A very wide selection of different types of instruments. However if I could change one thing about the store I would put the microphone section in a soundproof room. Reasons: If a vocalist is trying to find a mic that suits his or her voice 1) the voice is a very intimate thing and many may not like singing in front of strangers. 2) many of the microphones they have in their selection are sensitive enough to pick up things like the Road Rumble from the streets nearby. Plus as it is guitar Center the sound of people demoing guitars and basses end up polluting the result.
The Dana Park is awesome for shopping and dining.
Unfortunately it looks like Guitar center is on its last leg. I loved going there but now it hurts to see it eroding away. Hope 2021 brings it back to its former glory
What happened to this place.
I can’t even count hiw much money I’ve spent in guitar center just this year. Knowing that it’s really disturbing that the customer service at this location is the worst I’ve ever encountered. They’re very rude when asked for help. It’s disappointing and disgusting
19. Redbox
Address: 1895 E Valencia Rd, Tucson, AZ 85706 , Summit , Arizona , United States
Best place for music needs! The employees are friendly and knowledgeable. Selection is terrific. I’ve learned to skip G.C. and come here first!
I love this store. I’ve bought and sold many things here. My usual music shop
These guys are great! They know the business well. I bought some drum accessories and two new guitars. The guitars were set-up for me before I left.
i was at the store and it has very cool instruments and good prices but this one lady by the entertainment stand told me to move as i was looking at a item i dislike her attitude otherwise the employees here and instruments are spectacular.
Great stuff for any budget. From vintage amps to instruments…all one could think of. Staff attentive, knowledgeable and helpful but not pushing it at all.
Nice store, friendly staff, but the store aren’t so complete and nice as others Sam Ash around US.
Sam Ash in Phoenix has gone down hill. They really have a low end selection of guitars right now in there. From brands I’ve never heard of. They had maybe 2 Les Paul classics and that was it for higher end guitars.
My review is for Sam Ash online, not a brick and mortar store.
I tried to order online as a guest and their website kept giving me error codes that I couldn’t make any sense out of, so I was forced to make an account and order it. After ordering they have a popup on screen that says you’ve received a $100 dollar gift just fill out this survey, me…thinking this was a reputable company, clicked on it and filled out the survey. It’s for magazines, $100 dollars for magazines that they will no doubt keep sending to you for the rest of your life demanding money. Apparently Sam Ash attended the survey monkey school of business, stay classy. That was my first red flag.
Then…they charged me TWICE in pre-authorizations, leaving it there for the weekend like it’s no big deal. So I called them to get an idea of what is going on. Their customer service is HORRIBLE. One guy on the phone just pretended like I was full of it and their live chat Xed out before I was finished. They really just didn’t give a damn. They kept saying, “we only show one charge,” and I kept saying “well my bank shows two”. Eventually I called my bank and they said there isn’t anything we can do until monday, if and when they eventually charge it. Who knows, they certainly don’t.
I don’t know about everyone else but my experience with pre-authorizations is that they are usually a fraction of the cost of the item purchased and even so they only last a day at the most. Not so with Sam Ash, I’ve got other bills to pay and now this means that my account is pretty much depleted until monday, wasting my entire weekend. Thanks alot. The bad customer service after that is just a slap in the face. You couldn’t pay ME to order anything from these guys again. Even though what I bought was a great deal, doesn’t matter that much if the rest of your website and customer service is absolutely horrendous.
UPDATE: So, as if everything else weren’t bad enough. I ordered my item on Friday at 9 or 10 am, they didn’t get it sent to FedEx till 5:30pm on Saturday. Over 24 hours and even then I’m still charged twice on my account.
I have my first visit to Sam Ash today, and unfortunately, was not impressed. I was in the store around 15 minutes, walked past at least four store associates, and not one of them spoke or offered to sell me anything. I needed a new interface, three mics, a new set of headphones, and all kinds of wires for my home studio; could’ve easily spent over $1000 in the store… Only there were no associates walking around that I could find. The only one I saw at the counter where the microphones and interfaces for around 10 minutes and watched the only associate in that section talk to one lady (I think had already checked out), and even take the time to look at her pictures on her phone. I understand a great customer service experience comes with a certain level of conversation. However with my experience, I had no conversation with no associate in the store . I saw the microphones I wanted, so I was really disappointed… On my way out a man says “thank you for coming in” and that was was my entire experience. The store was pretty empty, so I felt ignored. Luckily Music & Arts had the same stuff.
