I’ve recorded here before, and I’ll definitely record here again. It’s great. Reuben is a professional. He knows what he’s doing.
We went in to record 2 songs over 2 days at Chicago Sound Lab and could not have had a better experience. They had all the gear we could ask for in a state of the art, but still relaxing and fun environment. The owner, who produced and engineered our recording was easy to work with and knew exactly what to do to make us sound as good as possible. For sure the best results, and best recording experience, we’ve had as a band and we look forward to recording there again.
Best live room I have recorded drums in. Great place to make music.

3. Artfinix Studios Inc
Address: 7438 62nd Pl, Summit, IL 60501 , Summit , Illinois , United States
I’ve been taking voice with Brandon for a little over a year. I have also taken keyboard lessons with him for longer. He is an amazing instructor. He knows how to push enough to challenge you yet still make it fun and doable. I have learned so much and feel that my voice has gotten much stronger. He is a very talented teacher and musician and really knows how to be encouraging, supportive and challenge you. Highly recommended Brandon and Artfinix Studios!
This is the best place to learn how to play 25 instruments my kid is very happy every class and Brandon (teacher)is very good and professional I will 100%recomend artfinix studios to everyone THANKS!!!!!
I Love this place this isn’t just your average music program. They go above and beyond for you when it comes to music education, technique and performance. I love the adult program I feel as though my playing is being elevated to another level to point that this just isn’t a hobby for me anymore. Artfinix is setting the foundation for a perspective career and I’m here for the long run. I highly recommend this program to people of all ages you won’t regret it.
4. EZPAWN
Address: 6153 S Archer Rd, Summit, IL 60501 , Summit , Illinois , United States
Fair. They will work with you on most… especially if you’re a regular…. recommend you don’t sell, pawn… For as short as possible
Very nice and clean. Veronica helped me and she was very helpful and attentive. Definitely will be coming back to this location..
Very quick service. Friendly, clean area, and very nice bargains.
Super friendly staff. Was in and out with a little extra cash.
The store is always organise Irma, Steph has excellent customer service always willing to help customers. WITH the EXCEPTION OF VERONICA that always seems to be more interested in her phone than helping a customer I don’t understand what ez corp is doing keeping people like that in their team. The store deserves a 5 star review but with this Employee working there brings a bad vibe. Hopefully EZ pawn can change that.
Mask police
Totally bummed out every time I try to do business with EZ Poop.
3 thumbs down
5. Record Dugout & Comics
Address: 6835 W Archer Ave, Chicago, IL 60638 , Summit , Illinois , United States
Excellent work. Wonderful customer service. I keep going back to get all of my work done! 5 stars Female artists. Hispanic owned. I cant say enough great things about this place! They just moved locations so go check them out!
Louise ALWAYS does great work on me
I frequented Exodus Ink in the past for some piercing work with Freddie, which made me want to come back for some tattoo work. I am extremely happy and satisfied with Exodus Ink. Evelyn handled the business promptly and efficiently and Mike tattooed me. He was very skilled, professional, and efficient in the tattoo session. A very talented musician and tattoo artist I would recommend to anyone!
Ok for piercing but I’m not sure about their tattoos. The tattoo pics online are pretty basic.
Great price, very professional
Jocelyn was great!!! Went there to kick off my vacation. Customer service was great. Was able to make an appointment right away.
The worst experience ever. If there was an option for zero stars I would pick that.
I’ve had my nose pierced two times, I’ve gotten it done, kept it for a year or two, then for water reason, I have taken them out. Each of those times has been easy and fast, and virtually painless, but not in this place!
the guy stabbed my nose downward so the nose ring didn’t go through. It went downwards in between the skin of the nose. It hurt like hell! I didn’t realize it, i just figured i was being sensitive, but NO! My nose was so bloody (I never bled that much over a nose ring) that I did not realize it, it did not go through! until this morning when the pain woke me up and I was washing the area with a little water. I am so mad that someone that is puncturing your body can be so incompetent, and realize that he did it wrong! Do not go to this place! Go to someone you know, I thought I nose ring was a simple thing, but an incompetent person can really mess u up. My nose is super swollen, it hurts, it’s looks terrible and I have a hole with no ring in my nose! And i paid for it!
Made my daughter pay for her tattoo before she even received it. In 20 years of getting tattoos, I’ve never been asked to pay up front. This is the kind of treatment people with preconceived notions give to those they deem “less than”. If it wasn’t my daughter’s birthday weekend, I’d have canceled the appointment and told her to pick ANYWHERE BUT HERE.
Oh, and they don’t take credit cards.
p.s. I wouldn’t trip but there’s no signs posted declaring that all services are to be paid beforehand. If they have a sign up after you read this, it’s because I told my daughter to go outside while I read them the riot act. And no, they couldn’t show me a sign stating you had to pay in advance. All they showed me was a sign that said “please pay with cash”.
AVOID THIS “ESTABLISHMENT”.
p.p.s. Owner says this policy is old. Ok. I’d say that to if I was the owner. But if I was the owner, I’d post a sign that made that policy clear. IF such a policy existed….
I loved my piercings at first. I got my tongue, snake bites and septum done. But they weren’t tightened enough and constantly got lost and fell off. I ended up swallowing my tongue piercing 🙁
9. Summit Citgo Gas Station
Address: 7455 Archer Ave, Summit, IL 60501 , Summit , Illinois , United States
Went to this gas station during a very bad time. Everything was going wrong that week. I was very emotional and was having an extremely bad day. Went in and the cashier was a very compassionate and understanding guy. Carlos was his name. I’ll never forget this day, that cashier or the overall great experience. The customer service I received was awesome and the encouragement and positivity I received from the cashier really helped me and uplifted me. Thank you Carlos!
Good service as a gas station, friendlys ppls there
Pumps do not work!
Super slow pumps. Seven minutes to pump 14 gallons of gas.
I don’t even pump gas here but anytime I want to run in real quick to purchase something, the systems are down or they randomly close the doors
Looks like a 3 world country.
It is a center of USA.
Or is it not?
Air pump and vacuum are out of order.
10. Tobias Music
Address: 5013 Fairview Ave, Downers Grove, IL 60515 , Summit , Illinois , United States
Great people, great knowledge base, highly recommend.
Can’t say enough about this place. White-glove service, very friendly and knowledgeable, everything they have is top-of-the-line.
I recently purchased an Eastman 335 style electric here and it blows away any actual 335 I’ve ever played 1. because it’s well made and 2. because the setup done in-house is immaculate. They threw in a humidifier and all.
All around the best customer experience at any guitar shop I’ve ever been to.
All I need to say is that the customer service, communication, and great price is very well appreciated from Tennessee. The G&L guitar arrived in perfect, well packed condition. Thanks again, Paul!
They are more of a acoustic guitar place not really a place for bass players .
***EDIT***
So, I am knocking down my review from five stars to three; due to my most recent experience a couple months after the first one. So I reached backout to buy another guitar (place order) as I really wanted an AD22e or another model I can’t remember, but after confirming they could place the order I let them know that I wanted the AD22e and to provide me the full price so we could close the deal and they went silent, mind you I didn’t even get a copy of the receipt from my AD27e that never came which I had also requested from the last conversation.
I did finally get my guitar ordered but I had a national retailer place the order. I was disappointed I didn’t hear back from Tobias Music about completing the purchase and obtaining a copy of the receipt for my AD27e that never came.
** original **
Just bought an AD27e (Taylor) from them after finding it for sale online. it was a great buying experience. I’m a lefty, buying guitars online is the norm, and most of the time guitars I buy take a day or two to pack and ship. we had a few emails back and forth and they were quick to respond and very professional. These guys had it packed and shipped the same day, and I didn’t place my order until after lunch; that’s service.
They also took the time to dial the guitar in; it came with the action set and was tuned ready to play out of the box. Paul did a great job and really made this buying experience easy, and hassle free. I’ll have to check back often to see what other lefty guitar they get in. If I have the chance, I will buy from them again.
11. The Jam Lab
Address: 9234 47th St, Brookfield, IL 60513 , Summit , Illinois , United States
I rented The Jam Lab to host a 60th surprise birthday party for my husband, Andy. I had the event catered, hired a band and even had a tent set up in their outdoor garden space. I wanted this to be a very special & fun occasion since there would be classmates of Andy’s that he had not seen in quite a few years. We had around 85 guest with family & friends.
Since I had never planned a party like this before I relied on Rachel & Colin to help me navigate through the entire process. They were both great! Rachel was there every step of the way, including being at the event to make certain everything ran smoothly.
I am so beyond pleased with how every aspect of this party turned out. The venue is unlike no other! Our guest are still raving about the experience they had that evening. I think everyone was blown away the moment they walked into the venue!
A big thank you to The Jam Lab & to Rachel for going above & beyond!! Exceptional venue!!! ✨✨✨✨✨
Love it!!
Great experience here, highly recommend to anyone that wants to record in a great environment with a very talented producer/engineer
Great sound on the live stage
12. Fergie & Foz
Address: 7245 W Archer Ave, Summit, IL 60501 , Summit , Illinois , United States
I go here to get Queen of Hearts raffle tickets to benefit St. Joseph Church in Summit. Friendly people at bar.
Live music Tex-Mex so much fun & good atmosphere
Well. Dj john Hernandez. Was in Da
Mix. Very. Good nice CROWD
Social distant
Place is great service is slow just needs better bartender’s
Awesome house music, unfriendly staff
Great local bar
Nice space, friendly staff, great decoration, and good DJ (although a bit too loud for my taste) Leaving 1 star because they won’t give you free water. I’ve bartended before, and I would never work somewhere that didn’t offer free water to its patrons. It may not technically be illegal, but definitely skeezy. I hope they come to their senses and realize that looking out for the safety and well-being of people under the influence is more important than making a buck.
I paid $10.00 to get into what i can only describe as the class of 1970 reunion. I think i seen my grandparents best friends. Id put zero stars but it wont let me.
The owner is amazing keeps it cool in the bar nice skate /dance floor! Pizza and drink yesss!!..Edit …….after year of going Here it’s just going down hill. The bartender doesn’t serve drinks at the same price for everyone. Your skin color matters here and WindyCitySkateCollective is over it . We can not even get a glass of water with out being charged $2 .it’s a bar we skate we drink we need water . BOUGHT CHIPS FOR DRINKS was told I personally was only allowed to use them. Not buy my friend a drink with what I already bought? How does that make sense? This place just is a BAD VIBE .
We are 30 year residents of Elmhurst and Luscombes has been our go to music store for good reason. Recently my wife and I, now empty nesters, decided to take up piano lessons and it has been wonderful. Elizabeth Olson is a patient, passionate teacher who makes the lessons interesting and stimulates us to learn and practice. We will never be performance artistes but are playing pieces we did not think possible just a few months ago. Most of all it is fun and very enjoyable!
I had a great experience with luscombe music. They have quality reeds for my alto saxophone and they have all the piano books I need.
Got my 45 year old trombone cleaned and checked over. The slide is working the best it ever has. Also, a great selection of music. So nice to be able to look at an entire book instead of a sample page or two.
Yearly music by the pound sale is AMAZING
The teachers are great but the instruments and rentals are not so great, since the recent downsize, you can’t find some things there.
Extremely unprofessional. We got on the wait list, waited 2 months and got a call saying they had a spot for our day and time. We returned the call the next day saying we wanted to start as soon as possible. Office called us back saying the the instructor, Elizabeth Olson, should be calling us to make the final arrangements. She called the Sunday of MLK weekend, we were with family the next two days. We connected Tuesday and she wanted to do an assessment on the day we agreed on but a time that didn’t work and wasn’t agreed upon. She said she understood and arranged the following week on the original agreed upon time and day. We accepted, then she messages us and said she found another client that would use the extra day and bumped us out. When we questioned her motive, she said this is just business.
way over priced
15. Make’n Music
Address: 780 W Frontage Rd, Northfield, IL 60093 , Summit , Illinois , United States
This is a great place for lessons and buying quality guitars for a good price!
Teds the best!
Great people. Real nice, know what they’re talking about. Take their gear over the local competition because they just know it better, even if it isn’t spooky. Their techs are very likely great but weren’t in-site available when I visited. It’s still a beautiful shop.
check em out
Great store. Middle of nowhere. And definitely not the shop pictured. They had Les Pauls. But would not sell them. What’s up with that.? Very small selection in unless all you want is Airline guitars. No one said much. Just some people hanging out. Not clean and shiny like pictured. I believe they must have downsized big time. Not impressed. oh well. Ive been to the place pictured years ago. Impressive. What happened?
Store is really different from the earlier locations off Milwaukee Ave., Ohio St., and Artesian. Even the store off Hubbard – after the move from Artesian – had far more inventory.
Though I could be wrong, it seems as though the days of finding tons of high-end boutique, FCS, GCS and PRS guitars hanging on the walls is gone. Also gone are the days of 8-10 really cool high-end amp makers being represented, including several products on the floor from builders like Elmwood, Bogner, Matchless, Victoria, Fuchs and on and on. The effects offerings are also a small portion of what they used to be.
Not quite sure what happened to the store the past couple/few years. Used to be, far and away, the finest boutique shop in the country (used to get regular visits from cats like Billy Gibbons, Keith Richards and many others that would fly in just to buy gear).
I wish the current guys the best of luck. And hope they have a long and healthy ride. Would be cool to see the store return to its former glory years, when it was The Grand Daddy of cool gear.
THESE GUYS THINK THEY ARE SO SMART!!!!!!!!!
I was in the market for an American made Telecaster and they had nothing to show me. I had my brother n law tell me he wanted to take up bass and they don’t carry basses. I don’t understand what their market is? Another example of how bad the Chicago area music stores are.
16. Piano Moving World LLC (Near Me)
Address: 4311 Center Ave, Lyons, IL 60534 , Summit , Illinois , United States
We our a piano Yahama dealer in Illinois. This company has moved over hundreds of clients pianos successfully. I can guarantee theses guys do not play around an our about business. Our Supply-chain network uses this company. Very professional movers ,tuners an technicians , ‘Whom fundamental entitlements recognized by the international community
We had gotten quotes from other movers but Piano Moving World.was by far the best service for a reasonable price. The movers were on time and handled our piano with care. Thanks for a job well done!
Excellent service ! The office staff was flexible and very informative about what to expect. In spite of a snow storm and the freezing temperatures my delivery was ahead of schedule. I greatly appreciate their efficiency and a very positive experience. Definitely will refer and recommend them as one of the best customer service companies in the area.
The piano made it from one location to the other, so the job was completed. However, the person I spoke with for the entire experience was very rude. (Before arriving, he accused me of giving him the wrong information about steps in the house—even though he was wrong about it. He could have asked kindly when he thought there was a discrepancy instead of being accusatory. Then he balked at my husband when he had a question about an extra credit card charge. Just two examples of what proved to be typical of talking with this guy.) Next time I’d do more research and find a company with a good reputation that will also treat customers with more respect and kindness. (And, as another example, just scroll through all the reviews and find the owner’s responses to bad reviews. This is the attitude we got the entire time, even though we had a typical piano move.)
THE PIANO MOVER CAME AND MOVED MY BABY GRAND WITH CARE AND CONCERN.
AND MADE THE TRIP ACCORDING TO HIS PLANS FOR ARRIVAL.
IT IS NOW IN MY NEW HOME AND I AM GLAD ABOUT IT. I WOULD RECOMMEND HIM TO WHOEVER NEED A BABY GRAND MOVED.
DR. L. A. ANDERSON, DD
The price was fair and they had experienced staff. Took care of the moving quicky and had all necessary equipment to move the piano even in less than optimal weather. They did bump into a few things and typed in the wrong address but that’s a trivial error so it’s fine.
Not using them again. Showed up late and didn’t have enough people to even do the job. Seemed really unprofessional and disorganized.
They were a no show. An hour and a half after my scheduled pick up time I had to contact them for a status. They did not contact me. I was told they didn’t show because their truck needed an oil change. Ridiculous. Call anyone else.
If I could give this man zero stars, I would. I contacted him three weeks before a move out of state asking if he was available for two hours to help my husband move a handful of heavy objects from our apartment to the moving truck. He was extremely responsive and eager to help, set a fair price and we were all set. I contacted him three days before the move to confirm we were still on, saw that he read the text, but didn’t respond for about 6 hours with just “yes.” Asked him if he was equipped with a dolly or something to move the big objects. Got a “yes” response THE NEXT DAY. Saturday morning comes and it’s time for our move, he didn’t respond to texts or two phone calls. Once again, saw he read it about two hours AFTER he was supposed to show up. I gave him multiple chances to say he was busy or to find someone else, but he couldn’t at least give me that professional courtesy. To be a no-show is simply inexcusable. DO NOT USE HIM!
Great neighborhood spot! The staff is super friendly, the space is very clean and comfortable, and of course the coffee is made to order and the food is fantastic. Def a Garfield Ridge gem!
Go to coffee shop now! This coffee shop is about 15 mins out and so worth it. The horchata latte is soooo good. I also have gotten the turkey blt which is also really good, the cupcakes are super moist and delectable! The space is also really decorated and inviting, it embraces the Hispanic culture & im all for it. However the reason I only gave it a 4 is because of service, I’ve gone twice and the lady taking your order is very monotone, doesn’t really seem happy to be there or to be taking your order. The first time I was like okay maybe she’s having a day , I’ve worked in customer service before so I know there’s just days where you’re just not all there. But I went recently on Mother’s Day to pick up some goodies for my mom and same person took my order with the same monotone attitude and it was a bummer. As a person with major anxiety I don’t like going out to places that I know are gonna bum me out and her service bums me out. But other than that, it’s a cool coffee spot with good food, pastures and coffee!
Been here twice, love it!
Good place
Meh!
I was excited to try a locally owned coffee shop and put my money toward the neighborhood but the service was horrible and the drinks were awful.
There was one staff member taking orders and making drinks. She couldn’t multitask and had a hard time making the drinks. 2 people ordered before me, no one else was there, and it took over 20 minutes to get my caramel latte. When I did get it there was no caramel. My sister ordered a caramel coffee with skim milk and got no milk and couldn’t taste the caramel.
It is a really cute, comfy place. It’s such a shame the drinks and service are so poor.
Wheelchair accessibility: Restaurant doesn’t have a restroom!!!! Coffee is too strong for me. Not going back.
19. Dr Woods Guitar Emporium
Address: 304 Lincoln Ave, Fox River Grove, IL 60021 , Summit , Illinois , United States
Great customer experience at Dr Woods! Buddy and team were super friendly and helpful.
Large selection of guitars and great atmosphere. Highly recommend.
My kids love going to their music lessons. Buddy and Alex are great teachers very knowledgeable and a great selection of guitars and drums.
Buddy is the best guitar teacher on the planet He is great with kids and teenagers. He makes learning to play fun
A very helpful and knowledgeable staff. A relaxed atmosphere with some really great looking guitars.
Very friendly, asked for advice on a project gave great direction. I will definitly come back to give them my business.
Buddy is an expert musician. His advice, insights, and customer service are worth the visit. I support this local shop because they offer value that I can’t get from the web or a large chain.
I debated posting a review or not, but I think I should if it’ll keep someone from having a bad experience. First off, the employees are super kind people. Couldn’t be happier with the staff. But unfortunately the work I received on my guitar was really poor. Took a guitar there, first time bringing them one of my instruments. Was told I could expect a turnaround in under a week. Ended up waiting almost 2 months. Honestly not a big deal, happens a lot with instrument repair. Got the guitar back. Took it out to play it and the truss rod cover is missing. Find it in the case and put it on. Turn the volume knob, it falls off. Have to spread the top of the pot and reinstall it. Start playing and there’s a weird oscillating noise from the amp. Find the output jack totally loose, have to take off the cover and tighten it. Screws for the cover are stripped in the body. This is a new guitar by the way. Notice the G string sits higher off the neck than all the others, very noticeably. Figured they would fix this when doing a setup but I guess not. Had to file the saddles out myself. Should have just done the job myself at this point. Ended up taking the guitar apart to make sure the wiring wasn’t as bad as the assembly and setup. Got it playing good now, but after paying for someone else to do it and then having to do it myself, it wasn’t worth it. I figured the extra time taken would have meant it was 100% ready to go when they called but apparently not. This was a mid range guitar so I’m not terribly upset about it, but if it was something really nice I would have definitely been upset. Take this into consideration before dropping off your favorite axe. Hope they learn to slow down and do quality work.
I called 45 minutes before they closed and was there about 25 to 30 minutes before they closed to get a guitar pick the lady with a dog looked at me walking out locked the door and got into her car and left mind you there was still about like I said 25 to 30 minutes left so if you’re gonna close at 8:30 put it on your page on Google that closing is at 8:30 and I’m still gonna buy a pick tomorrow because you’re the closest but that will probably be the last time I’m there and I will be returning the saxophone either Friday or the third
Its a long story. In the end it was a bad experience.
I think if I didn’t check up with them things could have been much worst.
I’m not doing any business with them and advise the same.
