Haplin helps us with our Patches and Pumper robotic dog on occasion. We take Patches to the city schools every year for fire prevention. They treat us very well and we appreciate the service.

I had to have my horn sent to Alton because this tech in Centralia is discriminatory against people with disabilities. Had to drive two and a half hours 200 plus miles and no discount for a simple repair I will never use them again thinking about taking legal action.

Small building(small town). Friendly cashiers. Didn’t have much time to shop..here is why… A family Friend and myself was shopping around for items about 11am or so before lunch. Items we needed for our houses, while we killing some time waiting on our wives that was in town who was getting their hair done. We was followed around the entire store by 1 or 2(1 know for sure)men, just a few minutes after arriving inside.
They was in every other aisle my friend and i was in. We could tell they was “secret shopper security” because after a few minutes, we tested them thinking it was just us. So went down the toy aisle(we are to old for kids but have kids) and we stopped looking at all the toys. 1 man followed in aisle and stood there pretending to shop while watching us in the corner of his eye. Not even looking at the item they picked up. It was obvious. We was pretty much ran out of the store, we felt so uncomfortable and was followed the entire store. They came so close to standing next to me. Our shoulders was almost literally touching in one of the aisles. We was very aggravated and was just about called them out, my friend wanted to but I did not want to start public drama in the store and get in a altercation with security, and possibly be falsely accused of a crime because of it. My friend paid for 1 item he needed that day, as we pushed our carts with all the items we WAS GOING TO PURCHASE aside, by the check out and left them. We felt so humiliated, angry and “profiled” because of 2 “younger men”(32 and 36) was walking around, taking our time, enjoying our day and looking everything over and the items we may and was going to purchase. Isn’t that what a business such as Wal-Mart wants? Take time shopping and not rush. Yes they have a job..but this was very extreme. I will not be back any time soon. We live in IL not very far. We was going to start shopping here regular instead of Vincennes or Princeton but not now. Also dust the dirty shelves.

This store is the answer to my prayers. Marion il needs this place so to all of you musician and future musicians support this store and help it stay here. I am a guitar player and it felt like coming home to the way it use to be. The people here no pressure and its a relaxed atmosphere in the store. it is great to have these guys in our community.

Joke , out of all the McDonald’s restaurants I have been to Lawrenceville IL is by far the worst . Staffed after 3pm with all young kids who are rude , no work ethic , talk about customers where other customers can hear , no customer service skills which should be a must when dealing with people , they mess up a water order then blame you of their own ignorance , food always cold , actually had a worker say they tamper with food when a customer complains , not sure why a business would allow that , & support that , always get parked & might get your order , might get the 7th car before yours order , & the Manager’s who are supposed to lead , be just as bad ! The Manager who’s mother allows him to stay employed is funny tho because she is polar opposite Jamie a good Manager unfortunately her son needs more training for the job it signed up for . The day shift is good tho , zero or minimum issues and they are trained for the job , know how to handle issues & make un bias decisions. . – I work customer service collecting unpaid debt & my job would fire such a worker, because even tho my job is collecting a debt the are aware they owe there is a professional way to do so as well as listening to my clients to see if we can accomplish a win , win , win . Win for me because job well done . Win for client because they feel valued & feelings validated. And win for Company because my clients will happily return & word of mouth bring new clients. McDonald’s needs a new standard for employees, stop just hiring anybody & keeping bad employees because the Mother might get mad or have dirt on upper Management whatever the case is . DO BETTER ! Went to drive thru pulled up at 8:19 pm, ordered McDouble, Large Fry, Large Sweet Tea & 10 pc Nuggets. Paid went to 2nd window they handed me my receipt & a straw & said please park in mobile spot #1 & we’ll bring it out to you 8:38 pm finally brings food & still no drink. So I tell boy still need sweet tea. Ok, I’ll go get it for you, 8:46 pm still no tea so I get out of car walk up to window & ask for a tea. 8:51 pm finally pulling out if parking lot. It took 32 minutes to get 1 meal & chicken Nuggets. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!!!

I am definitely a fan of Mayberry Music And Sound. As a banjo player, I do want to say that they are quite a bit over priced on their banjos and their banjos are not set up correctly. So I would not recommend getting a banjo set up there. Other than that, they are very good if your buyingan instrument from them.

Mayberry is all you could ask for except a good customer experience. Massive selection but all prices are at the higher end and there is very little wiggle room even when trading up. You may find what you need but if you’re looking for some good conversation and a great shopping experience look elsewhere.
The employees here are very satisfied with themselves and have a “cork sniffer” vibe from their precious pedestals. They are all too happy to correct you when talking about instruments and there is a complete lack of a warm one-on-one personal experience. With Amazon’s prices there’s little reason to go here unless you can’t wait or need something immediately.
I have been consistently disappointed with the attitude of and experience from Mayberry’s over the years and recommend taking an extra thirty minutes to go elsewhere or use it as a showroom to purchase on Amazon. It’s just not a very fun experience and fun and music shops I thought were supposed to go hand in hand.

The guest experience was alright, but after going in, and returning my item the staff took my return and assured me it was completed, I left and enjoyed the day, more than a week later and I have discovered the staff I talked to must have processed my return improperly since I have never received my refund on my bank statement and when I tried to call in to get the situation corrected I was told they could not find my transaction. Edit… The owner has personally reached out to me and has worked to correct the situation.

I hate doing this because I want to like music stores but if service is gonna be like this, everyone myswell DIY at home and heed this warning. I’ve had a few guitars setup there which is what I’m always needing done, new guitars etc, well I happen to be changing the strings on my Chapman that I had setup there and the low E saddle of the Floyd Rose came loose and the saddle screw fell out and that’s strange as you tighten them down. Well here’s what I discovered. Either dude lost the original saddle screw or he broke it somehow, but sitting in place of the original saddle screw is a too small saddle screw from a different bridge! It had been set in there and the string was tightened until it held the saddle in place! Like magic no screwing required! This guaranteed that as soon as the string tension came loose the saddle and screw would come loose every time NOT like it’s supposed to. Soooo sad service especially since luckily here at home I have many of those saddle screws laying around. It would have been better service to call me/order the correct part than to wait for me to get home figure out that I have the wrong part and have to deal with it myself. Smh.
I am giving two stars because Matt Waldhoff took the time to speak with us in the store. Other than that, I’m not impressed. We were going to consign an expensive Clavinova with them. Upon looking at the contract emailed to us they wanted 40% of the price it sold for, which was satisfactory with us. What was not satisfactory was even thought they only charged $100 to pick-up the clavinova it appeared from the contract they wanted $100 to deliver it to the new owners. Also, they would take no responsibility for any damage that may occur to the unit while it was in their hands. As we had questions regarding that contract we contacted Matt Waldhoff two times via email, asking him to clarify certain aspects of the contract. He never responded back so I assumed they did not want our business. I ended up selling the clavinova on my own and kept the 40% they would otherwise have received. It is inexcusable to not return emails to clarify a contract and I can only assume he took offense that we had questions regarding a contract where they took the profit, but absolutely no responsibility for damage.

Took guitar lessons for all of my life here. Excellent staff with a real passion for music. Had so much fun here learning the guitar, and the shop has lots of nice guitars and other things as well.
Down Home Guitars is a true gem of not only Frankfort Illinois, but the entire Chicago Land Area. They serve not only as a high end acoustic instrument shop, but also as a music school, an intimate music venue, a shop for everyday music items and instruments, and a place where musicians of all levels have the opportunity to play with and for one another at their weekly Jam Sessions and monthly Open Mic Nights. The people are friendly and I always feel welcome when I am there.
I attend the Down Home Guitars’ concert series regularly. The venue is perfect! The walls are aligned with top of the line hand-crafted, American-made instruments and there is not a bad seat in the house (which holds about 60). It is simply gorgeous. I especially appreciate the complimentary wine, craft beer, and snacks that they have to offer at each show. That really adds a nice touch to the evening.
Down Home Guitars is doing it right! Steve and Molly (who run the store) are the kindest of people and everyone that works there seem to be pretty knowledgeable about music and their instruments. I would definitely recommend this store for anyone who is looking to take music lessons, buy and instrument (high or low end), get a repair done, see a good show, play an open mic, or just to become part of the Down Home music community that they have created and welcome everyone to be a part of.
The store carries beautiful high-end acoustic instruments. They also hold some impressive seminars and concerts. If you want the very best and can spend 6K on a guitar then this store may be for you. With a larger wallet, perhaps you will receive better treatment than I did. The red-haired owner of this store is probably the rudest retail store owner I have ever experienced. Of course, I wasn’t there to spend thousands of dollars. I simply went there to buy picks, strings, tab books, and to explore and discuss instruments with other music lovers. My initial visits were often greeted by cold, stiff, and awkward personalities. After multiple visits, I expected things would warm up, and while some staff were friendly, it was never a comfortable experience. This was especially true whenever the owner was present. Pompous and arrogant seem apt descriptions, and small talk and small wallets are beneath him.

Why would I come here to buy $21 Elixir Strings when I can get them for $10 on Amazon? Are these even elixirs? I am 2nd guessing because the seal was ripped and the bags are crinkled inside. I feel like I was ripped off here, do not come here for your strings maybe they are knowledgable, but definatley sketchy.
Store staff are incompetent. Ordered books and instruments accessories for me but instead of holding behind the counter they just put them on the shelf for others to buy. Waited two weeks and when I got there only one of the three things I ordered was available. There is a reason mom-and-pop shops like this are going out of business. They have no customer service. Added to which the staff were rude and had a lack of knowledge that was sad.
Bought an over priced patch cable to find out it doesn’t work.
Was looking for a specific pair of drumsticks that I needed. I walked in and took a look at the selection they had, and they didn’t have what I needed. I asked a staff member if they could help me out and he helped me figure out what pair I needed. He happened to be the drum instructor. While trying to find the specific pair, my mother who was with me told me that he made her feel uncomfortable because of the way he acted towards her. When they “ordered” it for me and they said it’ll be here in a week.
One week later, I called to see if it had arrived. They said no. I stopped by the next day to see if it arrived and the same instructor said they’ll stop by tomorrow and pick it up for me. (From whatever warehouse they get their stuff from). The next day, guess what? THEY DIDN’T HAVE IT.
Unbelievable service. Waste of time and effort. I ended up going to A-Major Music in Gurnee. Trust me, it is worth the drive and they are MUCH more friendlier and helpful there.
