My son took cello lessons and he really liked his instructor and the school. Mary and the staff were always friendly, understanding and helpful when dealing with needing to change lesson times.
The best of the best place, where your children will truly enjoy learning. I am glad my daughter takes her violin class here, and her teacher, Amy is an awesome teacher, and the staff are amazing. You won’t regret to send your children there.
Honestly I am so glad I made the decision to start taking guitar lessons at NorCal Music. I had tried before in high school and felt like I wasn’t musically talented. However after working with Eric for just a couple months I think maybe I’ll actually be able to play the guitar someday! It really is all about having the right teacher and Mary has an amazing and dedicated staff. I highly recommend coming here.
My Son is been NorCal music student from past 5 yrs. He likes his teacher Mr Eric who teaches him Guitar with patience and understanding. The centre is nice place to learn music related stuff and the owner Mary is very friendly, accommodates and answers all the questions we have.We are happy with them.
My 12 Year old son loves his guitar lessons with NorCal Teacher. We’ve research all over the places and are lucky to find a great teacher for him. He’s flexible and teaches my kids so much more than we expected. My son just can’t wait for his lessons!
I did not have good experience!
+ve points: 1) Location and Classrooms
2) Front Desk/Admin Staff is very polite and helpful
-ve points: 1) Batch/Class timings are very uncertain, it all depends on Teacher’s availability. In two month, they changed batch schedule 5 times
2) Teacher we were dealing with, needs to learn how to talk and behave professionally .
2. 5 Star School for Music
Address: 906 E Arques Ave, Sunnyvale, CA 94085 , Sunnyvale , California , United States
Mark is an amazing teacher. I have been taking bass lessons from him for about 7 years. I have learned so much from him. He stepped my game up, so many levels. He is such a relatable, likeable person that makes the lessons fun, that’s why I have been coming here for so many years.
Took lessons with Mark for a couple years. Mark is always open and willing able to readjust the direction our lessons. I also was able to get great feedback on my form/technique.
Great teachers who are helpful and fun. Nice place to make friends and jam. (Josh is the best teacher)
Really an awesome school for learning Guitar with high expectations.
3. The California Conservatory of Music
Address: 546 Lawrence Expy Unit 3, Sunnyvale, CA 94085 , Sunnyvale , California , United States
Teacher Carlos and Teacher Breanna are awesome. My kid loves group classes with Teacher Tim. Practice Space app is a good motivator / tracker for daily practice.
Both my kids have enjoyed taking Guitar lessons with Alexandria this year. Even though, they have very little time to practice, their teacher is very patient and cont to work with them.
Also, the two owners and the office staff are so receptive to the kids and their families! We are so appreciate for welcoming our kids.
All of the teachers have such wonderful personalities and really know what they’re talking about. I took lessons with Teacher Gerardo, and it was one of the best decisions I made. Everything there is very organized, the front desk staff are very on top of things, even in chaotic times of the year. I could not recommend this place enough. If you’re thinking about signing up for lessons with CCM, do it! It’s 1000% worth it.
All good but I feel it is little expensive
We just enrolled our 5 years old boy to violin lessons 2 weeks ago and we had a very bad experience with the violin “teacher”. I don’t know her name because she never told us, she has no patience, my kid never has music lessons before but he was careful listened to teacher the parts of the violins etc etc ( at first class basically kids just learn about the instrument, position, fingers, everything was al right my kid was so happy and after 25 minutes she recommend we should choose a easier instrument like piano and guitar… So I Was naive at this time and I switched my kid to piano and here we go again… We went to piano lesson with Allison… First of all she was late for the class we were waiting for her then she arrived ( no sorry for be late) she was late and the she took more time to set up the music room then in 20 minutes she talk about parts of the piano, keys, patterns, clapping with tempo etc My son was so excited because he really likes music and instruments …But again I received and e mail from school where Allison rejected my son telling me ” Your son struggles with piano he should learn guitar” Apparently after less that 30 minutes she concluded my son can’t take piano lessons.
So my conclusion is: these are LAZY teachers I do not recommend this school.
4. The Starving Musician – SANTA CLARA
Address: 3939 Stevens Creek Blvd, Santa Clara, CA 95051 , Sunnyvale , California , United States
I walk out with another piece of gear every other visit to this place. Super knowledgeable and friendly staff and always a great price would definitely recommend for all levels of musicians.
Great service everyone is very helpful wide arrangement of used and new equipment
Super cozy place to embrace your inner musician
A bit out of the way for me but worth the stop if I’m close. Good prices (mostly) on used gear
Not for me. But I guess good place for guitars
Lots of goodies but I was looking for studio monitors which there were few to none
You might not know this they over price things and they say things that arnt true. My friend broke his trumpet valve and went to starving musician and said that they need to buy a new one and was a total loss. Then he went to another place and got it repaired FOR FREE! It might have been his one and only experience but still I don’t trust them
i dont know about the guitar techs. Stupid ol me just trying to get his amp working didnt ask the price and got jipped 91 dollars for 2 6L6gc tubes from electro harmonix! And they said they only sold them in duos but when i looked at the receipt later it was totally clear i could have bought one. dude i could have got 4 and half of those online for that price. im totally kicking myself right now. i think there might 1 dude there that is cool there but the rest aren’t that friendly. Unless youre looking to buy something expensive then all of the sudden they’re your friend. if you are trying to shop for some cool used guitar then this place is pretty good for that, but if youre trying to get strings or tubes!, i think you’re best deal is online.
I had a terrible front desk customer service experience here just to to get guitar strings. I’m never coming back to this store.
5. Sono Strings
Address: 171 E El Camino Real, Mountain View, CA 94040 , Sunnyvale , California , United States
Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Will definitely be going back for my violin needs in the future.
Wonderfully helpful and they have very competitive prices on their rental instruments. They even have lessons, and offer free trial lessons (unheard of anywhere else in the area). They are also very passionate about their music. We were lucky enough to hear some beautiful cello while we were there.
We went in to Sono Strings for a bow rehair. We drop it off on Wednesday and I got my bow back on Friday. I got my bow back less than 5 business day. Woah, great bow rehair. Love the services, the shop environment, and the staffs at Sono Strings are so knowledgeable. Great customer services and great price. I highly recommended Sono Strings.
Bad quality violin!!!! We rented a 1/8 violin but wanted to cancel our 3-month contract the same day we rented due to violin quality issue (black paint all over my child’s fingers with strong chemical smells on the surface of the strings and the string board, never happened on her own violins we bought before).
But the Asian female staff there refused, we ended up paying over $90 without playing for a single day!! She was also angry that we have rented another violin from elsewhere without going to them first. But we are very disappointed with the quality and do not want to bother exchanging for another one. And she kept asking for my current address and also read aloud my address from my driver’s license as if to threaten me. Horrible experience!!
The female staff also refuse to give me information of the owner and insisted that she contact the owner directly and would not give me a call if the owner refused to give me back my deposit.
We returned our violin after three months but they refused to give the deposit back to us 🙁
6. Galamart
Address: 1193 W El Camino Real, Sunnyvale, CA 94087 , Sunnyvale , California , United States
Thanks for taking time to review and acknowledging. I really appreciate it. I won’t be coming for the refund but I am going to modified my review.
Awesome
Nice and friendly store. Cheapest price on ciggarrates comparatively to other nearest stores
Always busy
Friendly neighborhood convenience store, covers most basics. Tight parking.
Was not easy to find. It doesn’t seems to be that popular. But you can find special Nepali items.
I think hard about makingla bad review, however these guys rather talk and gossip than take care of customers.
Trash. Three failed DoorDash orders. I’ve called to resolve my issues with them 10 times. They don’t even pick up the phone. Been there twice. Horrible customer service
Rip off. Not gonna pay $20 for a $12 pack of beers. First/last time visiting this store.
7. West Valley Music
Address: 300 W El Camino Real, Mountain View, CA 94040 , Sunnyvale , California , United States
Took my flute collection in for a possible tune up. Was told that all but one of the flutes were unplayable. Guess my looks or money weren’t what they accepted there. Took my ‘non playable’ flutes, and commenced to use them to busk, there in downtown Mtn View. Odd that they were declared unplayable, yet I was playing at least one of them not 30 minutes later. Care to explain West Valley Music staff ?
8. Guitar Center
Address: 3677 Stevens Creek Blvd, Santa Clara, CA 95051 , Sunnyvale , California , United States
Friendly sales people and the music teachers are great. We are very happy with Guitar Center
Everytime I go here looking for something, they have exactly what I need.
Great service and selection of equipment
Do your own research before you walk in. And sign up for coupons, always at least 15-20% off ticket price. Don’t be afraid to ask for more discounts.
Competitive price for the instruments
Low staffing on weekends. I only saw two people on a Saturday afternoon. Prices are about the same as elsewhere. I saw a couple of items that were “on sale” for the same price as you can get them every day from other retailers with MSRP as regular price. Salespeople are programed to get you to buy the extra warranty – in my case at 20% of the cost of the product I bought. On the positive, the website was accurate on the stock and once my turn in line came out was a fast and easy checkout. The security lady at the door was giving better customer service than the actual salespeople. She was great. She greeted people pleasantly and even got up to hold the door for me. I generally only buy here when I need something fast. Otherwise there are online retailers with better service and sometimes better prices.
the shopping experience is good, however the guitar repair service is so bad.
I wanna restring my guitar and went to the repair desk, first time the guy told me he was full and I could come back next Tuesday.
so I came back on next Tuesday, he gave me exactly same reply: he could not take any new service and told me come back next week.
Then after a month(I had a vacation and busy work), I went to repair service the third time, and I got same reply.
Lied to by 2 employees at Guitar Center, Santa Clara, Ca. Employees were Scott and Eric. They both guaranteed me a price match from another dealer for a new Gibson L5. When I drove the long drive down there Scott raised the price $1500 and would not honor his promised price to me. Stay away from this Guitar Center. I even had a recorded message from Scott saying he would honor the price till I got down there. Then he changed his mind. Very untrustworthy sales people.
Came here to pick up an item for my girlfriend. The sale price was competitive to internet prices. I annoyed with the salesperson asking me twice to purchase the worthless extra warranty. He also insisted on me giving him my name so that they could collect my data.
9. Philz Coffee
Address: 125 S Frances St, Sunnyvale, CA 94086 , Sunnyvale , California , United States
IMHO Philz makes the best coffee in town. Seating can be hard to find, but there’s usually someplace to sit and either relax, go online, or chat with a friend. I find that all of Philz coffees are satisfying, and give you both a tasty hot beverage and an adequate caffeine boost. I love the flavor of their fresh brews, and am glad that there are more Philz now than five years ago!
If there is one place for coffee that trumps all other places for me, it’s Philz. I make it a point to visit every time I’m near one. Try the ecstatic iced or the mocha tesora.
Nice coffee as always! And it’s not too crowded on a weekday noon time, so it’s even better
Lively place and good coffee too.
Very good assortment of coffee and drinks. However, the drinks are a bit too sweet in my opinion. The environment is very nice!
Place has great Coffee. The line reflects that. They have a need to post their food menu on a board at the store or make it easily found on their website. They only make it easy to find their coffee menu. Should they make that change I would easily give them a full five stars.
At this time their on line ordering system is not worth the wait.
Coffee is good, but bathroom is in horrible state and such a mess at 7:00am
25 people in line, staff casually chit chatting and taking breaks. Been waiting 20 min to order a $5 drink. Why am I doing this?
10. Murphy Street Smoke Shop
Address: 114 S Murphy Ave, Sunnyvale, CA 94086 , Sunnyvale , California , United States
Not a huge selection or else I would have gave it a 5 star
Overpriced but convenient. The owners not hip to any of his products and doesn’t seem to be interested in helping customers. Toni’s cool though, cute af too .
Must visit, can’t go wrong with the place pretty much have it all…even CBD.
29$ for a flum overpriced af ripoff
The girl with giant lashes seemed completely disinterested in even talking to me let alone selling me anything. Walked out right away as she kept looking at her phone. Great sales person you’ve got there.
Not open and not listed as being closed. What are they doing with their time, other than neglecting their business?
11. My Smoke Shop
Address: 964 W El Camino Real, Sunnyvale, CA 94087 , Sunnyvale , California , United States
Very helpful staff… they always do their best for the customer!
Massive selection of glass, bubblers and other items related to the smoking industry. They also have a lot of various types of body rings if your into that. I did find a nice size hoop for my ear. The owner is very nice, patient, kind and friendly. Prices are good and shop is clean and organized. Please give him your business and verify the excellent customer experience that you can/will receive.
Great selection here. Decent prices here. They have a huge inventory on the shelves. And the follks that staff the place are knowledgeable and cordial.
Great selection of glass ware and accessories. Plus cheap cigarettes.
This place has a lot of stuff. I wasn’t in there very long but the man who helped me was very friendly and got me what I needed quickly and hassle-free. I will definitely be back next time I need something.
Chill vibe, fairly price I think, cool staff
Don’t bother, if you can get his attention…..
They won’t have have it.
And he doesn’t look or help you
find an altetnatove
The person minding the store was too busy becoming one with the universe to help me select one of the items out of reach behind the counter, so I walked out and got what I wanted at one of the numerous other shops in the area, this one being run by someone who was interested in doing business.
Great selection of things, but they have a guy who doesn’t know much about anything they sell. When asked about what he recommended about a certain product, the answer given was “it can be good or it can be bad it just depends”. I asked maybe one or two questions, legitimately didn’t get an answer, nor did he make any eye contact. If you know what you want, go, but if you want actual customer service go anywhere else.
12. Park Avenue Music Center
Address: 1717 Park Ave, San Jose, CA 95126 , Sunnyvale , California , United States
Beautiful store and amazing service. Owner goes out of his way to help out.
Love it ! Lots of really cool stuff ! I was like “a kid in a candy store” !
I’m sorry to say that I took my business somewhere else because the customer service over the phone was not helpful at all. I had to pry information about their products out of him. At The Starving Musician they helped me figure out exactly what I needed over the phone so that I could put it on hold and easily go and pick it up the same day.
Stefen did a wonderful job getting my Strat set up. Plays better than it has in years. Looking forward to continuing to have my guitars worked on here and I highly recommend Stefen for any work you need done.
Nice small music store that had a French horn we could rent. They were very helpful in helping to find a private teacher and have lesson rooms adjacent to them.
Waited 3 weeks for a trumpet mouthpiece for it never to ship. I called to get assurance I’d get it before my gig and when I called back they told me it still never left the store so I had to cancel the order. They didn’t even care to contact me to give me details about the issue. Save your time and buy elsewhere.
Called to inquire about a violin study book. Was on hold for over 20 min. Had to hang up.
Drove down to make a purchase, but the store decided to close early–even though we had discussed with an employee we would be coming down to buy a clarinet. I’d phone ahead and get strong assurances they will actually be open if you’re driving any distance.
13. Fine Fretted String Instruments
Address: 2345 S Winchester Blvd Suite B Suite B, Campbell, CA 95008 , Sunnyvale , California , United States
Randy’s store has many great violin selections. He recently hired a very experienced luthier to adjust many violins and they sound amazing after the adjustments. Randy is also very honest telling me if a violin has a fake label, rather than trying to sell me a violin that he knows is fake.
I took my 11-year-old daughter to 6 local violin shops in Bay Area to select violins, and she said Randy’s shop is one of the best shops. Not because of the store setup, but because of the conversations she had with Randy. He inspired my daughter to practice more! How amazing! Although the store is not fancy, no classical European decorations, and not much room to walk in the store (because he has so many selections), it’s clean, bright, organized, and conveniently located.
Unlike what other reviews said, he doesn’t charge us anything to borrow the violins for home trial.
Randy has many violin, cello, and guitar selections from beginner to professional level. He also responds to the texts very quickly. I highly recommend his store to families who are looking to buy a violin, cello, or guitar.
If you are looking for a high end classical guitar, this is the place to go. I went in and talked with the owner and tried out a few guitars. He is extremely knowledgeable and understands what each player is looking for in an instrument: tone, price and playability which suits their personal tastes. He also has a great policy on exchanges if you ever want to upgrade from something you bought from him in the past.
The owner is Randy.
Great place for choosing a concert instrument
This shop had the violin strings I needed. The place is not very organized for the customer to shop in, but the owner/manager is quite knowledgeable. Definitely many options here, great mom and pop shop for orchestral instruments.
Great selection of top-quality instruments.
I call no one answers, i go to the store during said hours of operation and its closed. Is this place even still open? One star for wasting my time.
Extremely rude and unprofessional. Don’t waste your time and money on this bitter old man’s nonsense
DO NOT GO THIS PLACE. owner is too grumpy, he charges the customers( 30$) to see or touch any music instrument!! ??? I never heard somthing like this!!! also this store is too messy and dirty .DO NOT GO this place.. I saw the advertise in craigslist for Felamenco Guitar for this store which incoraged & invited everybody to visit this store so I drove 20 minute to this place, that was a big mistake…
14. Music Village
Address: 2971 Union Ave, San Jose, CA 95124 , Sunnyvale , California , United States
Great customer service. Knowledgable and helping staff
Has a huge stock of woodwind instruments and accessories. They have it all, and it makes shopping for all the things my kids need for their band instruments that much easier!
When dealing directly, the gentleman at the counter was cool. However, overall customer service could improve. I came into the store and stood second in line behind a customer who needed some repairs on 2 instruments. No big deal, that is what they do. I think though to be efficient they may want to ask if anyone in line has an item they want to pay for quickly and leave. Instead, the string replacement proceeds with folks in line. After that repair was done I walked up assuming to be next. Nope, instead another customer was motioned to go ahead of me because they were in the store first. Not in line first, but in the store browsing first. Never knew until now this is how it works. Come in and browse and when you are done you go ahead of any customer in line so long as you came into the store before them. On the positive note, large inventory and staff was very helpful retrieving and holding my book in front for easy pickup access.
I recently rented a flute for my son. My son tried the flute at the store and it seemed ok. My son came home and practiced it and it had problem. We went back and they tried to repair. My son went to the class and the Flute teacher said that the Flute is leaking and asked us to return it. I rented it on Sat. and returned it on Monday. The still charged even though we mentioned that the flute was bad.
DO NOT RENT FLUTE FROM HERE. Also they charge very high for repair charges. I compared our son’s flute for repair between their shop and another shop. They were expensive by $200.
I will neve go back there.
15. Music Exchange | Piano Store in San Jose, CA
Address: 861 S Winchester Blvd, San Jose, CA 95128 , Sunnyvale , California , United States
Had piano we wanted in stock. Delivered in 2 days. Very happy customer 🙂
Ulysses knows different models very well and helped us find the right piano. Definitely recommend this place.
My husband has recently bought an acoustic piano for me. we are very happy with the product. the staffs in the store were very nice. specially” Uly Venci” who helped us to buy the piano. He helped us to buy the right piano with the best price.
It’s a pretty nice place, the people are nice, and every once in a while you get to hear some mind blowing pieces. The financing is good if your credit is good.
Great selection! Great customer service, only mildly pushy salesman. Great prices at their end of season sale.
We bought Yamaha hybrid piano. Their price was good actually!
Worst ever! The salesman was so so so rude !
Bought a piano a year ago (good service). Called to ask for service help and the person who answered was very rude saying call Monday, this is a store and have 15 customers waiting. The call lasted less than a minute. All I can say a greedy store who does not care for their customers.
Was just there and Ann wasted my time; should’ve gone to SF or other locations.
So the model I wanted was just got sold according to her. I asked alternatives for similar models and she kept one asking “What you want, what you want?”
I gave her my phone number so she can call me when the model is available and when I asked her the price, she could’ve just said the price but said ” you write down, I give you pen.”
Haven’t seen this rude person in a long while.
While in the store, I noticed over-priced used pianos including the brands that I checked out new yesterday. Buy new elsewhere if you were to buy used here.
16. Best Buy
Address: 715 E El Camino Real, Mountain View, CA 94040 , Sunnyvale , California , United States
The location is good and spacious and clean filled with electronics and other things depending on the location that you want to go to. Based on your budget to see and spend time.
I frequent this store quite a bit. The employees are always available and helpful.
Not all demo stations were working.
Went to get a mobile, the staffs were so helpful and explained the products and offers very patiently. Not crowded over the weekend too. If you are not a person who likes to purchase from online sites and prefer the in person shopping and enquiry experience, then this will be a good choice of shop of electronic gadgets.
Very knowledgeable personals and friendly
It has a very limited number of electronics for display unlike other bestbuy stores
They ran out of a product in ten minutes… Worst store ever
I came into the store to buy a new phone. It was around lunchtime on a Tuesday so the store was pretty empty. It seemed like a lot of the staff were just hanging out. I waited for about 20 min and then asked someone to call for somebody to come help me because none of the staff seemed motivated enough to ask if I needed anything… this wasn’t a huge deal for me, I’ve worked at places where nobody really cares so I unerstand.
However, when I was trying to check out, the girl that was helping me asked for my ID and a ton of personal information including my address and email. This was before i was even rung up. I didnt feel comfortable and asked if i could just pay for the phone without giving out my email. She said that in order for me to make the purchase, I had to make a best buy rewards account and I was required to give her a valid email in order to do this. This is for an unlocked phone so no setup required or anything, and I have bought a phone here before without being required to make an account.
It seemed really shady, and I typically don’t like to give out my information anyways, so I just left. I don’t know if this is a real policy or not but I don’t think I will ever shop at BB anymore.
17. Apni Mandi Farmers Market
Address: 1111 W El Camino Real #107, Sunnyvale, CA 94087 , Sunnyvale , California , United States
The store has everything which an Indian needs. You can meet a lot of Indians as well here if you feel homesick. The store has a large collection og groceries, dairy items, frozen food items and all other things required day to day. The staff are very helpful and there is a food court where you can get Indian food. On saturday there is a chat counter as well. There is an indian sweet shop as well at the entrance of the store.
Glad to see a 24 hour Indian store! Well maintained, nice and courteous staff with plenty of varieties. Wish them all the best!
Good sized Indian store with your normal selection of products. Surprisingly it’s open 24/7, though I haven’t been there at night. They also sell food and snacks at the back.
Good store
Good selection but poor service.
A store somewhat better than other Indian grocery stores in Sunnyvale. There’s ample parking in the market, which is a huge win in comparison.
The stock is the usual though. The veggie section is dismally smaller than New India Bazaar.
The store is good. The products are good. However I don’t appreciate the fact that the staff only bag the products if you buy their bags else you’re supposed to fill your own bags. That’s finagling and bad customer service!
Found a chutney pincher at the Dhokla counter today! He told me he’ll only give me one tiny packet for a box of 4 Dhoklas and he was doing a favour anyway by giving one of each when he didn’t have to give the red one. Hope he felt good saving his chutney.
Pros. -Open 24/7 okay???
Free Chai.
Cons.- •Rude staff at the checkout. Learn some customer service skills and mannerisms. This is not India. Your pay depends on customers. Without customers you’d be jobless.
• No price tags for many items. Customers just pay for whatever amount when they are at the checkout for the sake of it.
• Fruits and Vegetables aren’t fresh. Go to the farmers market in the same shopping complex.
• kitchen-Rude and unhygienic staff at the counter. Can’t you people hire someone with bit more hygienic sense.
• Ready made food that they sell is stale.
18. Music Village
Address: 5885 Santa Teresa Blvd, San Jose, CA 95123 , Sunnyvale , California , United States
Overall staff could be a bit friendlier and way more professional. To start, the older gentlemen working here can be a bit stuffy. Once I asked one of the guys behind the counter who was ringing me up(short dark blonde hair, blue eyes, about mid 20s/30s[not the guy with a beanie]) if he could process payment for two items separately(I am a teacher and frequently purchase books for my students and have their parents reimburse me), and he loudly let out an exasperated sigh, letting me know he was clearly annoyed, then asked if he could just make two copies of my receipt in a somewhat indignant tone. There is also one very elderly gentlemen who is very, very quiet and seems to not like eye contact and/or smiling. An incident I should also mention is that once when I paid at the counter, a different male employee(I believe his name is Luis) told me I was “very beautiful” as he handed me my items and receipt. It made me extremely uncomfortable because I am not there to find a date, nor am I interested. Very unprofessional and neither the time or the place. As a teacher, I just want to be able to take my time browsing the store comfortably without worrying about whether an employee is eyeing me. That was the last straw for me-being that this is the closest sheet music store to me at a 20 min drive, it was pretty much my only choice aside from the Branham location. However, nowadays I make the extra effort to drive 15 more mins. to the Branham location instead-friendlier staff, and I don’t have to worry about employees checking me out while I’m browsing the shop.
I’m an adult beginner and Eric was my first ever piano instructor and I am very happy with his teaching. He is enthusiastic about music and has a great ear. He also takes a well rounded, methodical approach to teaching piano that made sure I was learning in the best way possible. I’ve made a ton of progress in my technique, music theory knowledge and musical listening ability that can be attributed to having good guidance from Eric. Highly recommend to any other adult beginners out there looking for a teacher.
Eric is one of the best instructors I have had to pleasure to learn from. From great vocal exercises, to an amazing attention to detail from posture to vocal tension. Some provided exercises were awkward and weird, but quite fruitful in helping me relax and better control my voice. I was also impressed by how we were able to work things out during quarantine. He gave me more things to practice on my own whenever I could, while also leveraging effective zoom sessions to continue classes.
Was thinking about taking singing lessons for the longest while during COVID. I eventually came across Eric’s profile on yelp and decided to take a leap of faith. Been going strong for half a year now and can definitely feel substantial improvement from when I started. Through the lessons Eric helps introduce a general roadmap of what improving looks like and also adjusts for individual strengths and weaknesses, not to mention his flexibility with scheduling and answering questions outside of lessons.
20. Guitar Center
Address: 5140 Cherry Ave #10, San Jose, CA 95118 , Sunnyvale , California , United States
Really kind staff, great selection too. Great to see so many guitars in the wall with a pretty decent variety. Thank you!
The people were friendly and knowledgeable. Gave me a good price on what I bought. I am going back to Guitar Center.
Robbie was extremely helpful and replaced a broken item that was recently purchased. Friendly and knowledgeable.
Its small but the selection is close to the same as any other guitar center
Friendly staff.
Interesting reviews. I was in San Jose today, I live a couple hours away, lived in San Jose since 1967. Groovy. I was looking for a specific type of strings. They didn’t have them, which is fine, the other music store I went to did not have them either. I noticed that the experience at the South San Jose, Reno, and Modesto Guitar Centers are the same while my experience at My music Village is also consistent.
Music Village: greeted by a worker and asked if they can help me find anything.
Guitar Center: Met with the warning I am in camera sign and workers could not be less interested. No greeting, no offer to help, not even glancing up.
When item not found the Music Village guy offered to check other store and was apologetic and asked if they could do anything else. When I was leaving they said have a good day… Three customers were there. Same experience at Musicians Friend in Reno.
At Guitar Center there looked to be two other customers, also no worker seeing if they needed help, maybe they were asked, I wasn’t there when they came in. I found the three areas strings were in, no one blinked. I looked at the keyboards, I am looking to get one. No one flinched. I left as the workers visited each other behind sales counter.
Now the last time I was in the store I wanted to buy a Martin Guitar. Not a cheap guitar . After looking around for help I went and asked for help, was told the worker was busy and someone else would help. No one did so I left and purchased the guitar elsewhere.
Guitar Center gets in the news not for great service or anything else…. They are known for being in the brink of bankruptcy and overall sh*tty service…and they deserve it. They are loved by the guitar player who wants to hold a US Custom Gibson. Those are fanboys and will not buy a guitar. I have a Gibson, and it didn’t come from Guitar Center.
It is a shame that a shop one can go and buy the guitar after holding and playing it is getting their butt kicked by on line shops who only brick and mortar is to be able to say they are a legit hands on store. Sorry San Jose is too expensive and workers are so tormented but it is going to be more expensive and you will be more tormented id GC doesn’t get it together, have a come to Jesus moment, and tell their crew why they are in the store ..and it isn’t the “music business”.
Mal trato al consumidor
Disappointed with this store’s customer service…asked for assistant to buy an item with price tag attached , sales man scanned the price and told me that tag dose not belong to the item. All he did was pulling the tag off.He switched the price tag without apologizing or offering to honnor the price…
