The violins there are really good! I bought a violin, and it was less expensive than the other violins not in the store (but it was still expensive, $3,100) I recommend this place, violinists, violists, cellists, and double bassists.
Drove down from Orlando and had a wonderful experience at Fiddlershop. I had been watching demo videos from Micheal O’Gieblyn for a couple of years and I was excited to get to work with him. He demonstrated on all the instruments I was Interested in and sounded amazing! I ended up with a Ming-Jiang Zhu G903 and I love It! Got a new case and bow from them too. I was very happy about the price too. Michael was so friendly and helpful and even gave us a tour of Fiddlershop. I would highly recommend checking them out and I will be recommending them to my students back in Orlando.
Great online service. Asked them to pick out a violin bow for me based on a number of criteria, and they delivered exactly what I wanted.
Excellent experience
Purchased a Ming Jiang Zhu 905 and a Fiddlerman Soloist set. Very happy with the communication, and the professionalism. The Fiddlerman Soloist came perfectly, and well packaged. Unfortunately, the MJZ has a little chip off. But It doesn’t affect the sound or the playing. I would have give a 4.5 star review if I can, since that chip off doesn’t not warrant a star off. Overall, very happy with Fiddlershop,
I did a lot of research to find a decent violin for my granddaughter the first gentleman I talked to was very knowledgeable and helped me figure out which one to get her last week I got an email saying great news your violin will arrive by the 19th at 8pm on the 19th it still said it would be delivered it wasn’t- on the 20th I called and the gentleman said that it would be delivered Thursday the 21st well it wasn’t- so I called today again the gentleman was close to being condescending and tried to placate me he didn’t offer any solution or compensation didn’t offer a solution I’m shocked because as expensive as this is I figured there would be better customer service and with all the raving reviews I didn’t expect this – I would have left a one star but the first gentleman Cameron was awesome
Update July 23 – got the violin today my granddaughter was excited got her chores done quickly and then she got angry- the violin wasn’t tuned at all and when she went to tune it the e string broke now she has been taught by 2 concert violinist and has never broken a string before but to get it and in 20 minutes a string break nope I’m not happy
Update July 25 – spoke to Pierre and I am very satisfied with the results he wasn’t condescending at all he explained things to me in a way I understood he made it up to me and made it right
I have never left a negative review about anything before. I paid over $300 to have my cello repaired here. The main thing that needed repairing was that my end-pin was slipping, but they found other things that needed repairs as well which I agreed to. When I went to pick up my cello after being told it was finished, the end-pin was still slipping. They cut notches into the end-pin as a quick-fix. It worked for a few weeks but today I had to take it in somewhere else because the end-pin won’t stay in at all anymore, and I am unable to play it. Now at the new place I’ve discovered that the other repairs they did were not done correctly either, and it will cost me another $500 to fix it. No one here was particularly friendly, and I wasted hundreds of dollars for nothing. I did buy a nice new bow from the store, and it was a good price, so I do think it’s a good place to shop, just not for repairs. At least not cello repairs.
I researched a lot of websites and settled on Fiddlershop. The violin i received looked nice but the E string peg became loose within 1 week. I wrote to them but they just sent me some paste to put on it. I thought they would send me a replacement because it was just 1 week since purchase. Quite unhappy that the instrument because it became unusable within a week of buying. I would not recommend this place. Both product and service are bad. 🙁
4. The Record Rack
Address: 207 Federal Hwy, Pompano Beach, FL 33062 , Terra Mar , Florida , United States
First time there found the place clean and well stocked. Plan to return soon
Amazing record store, great selection of used and new records. Great prices and the owner knows his stuff. And, if you’re a Prog Rock fan . . . you’ve hit the jackpot.
Great place for record buying, reasonable prices as well..
They are friendly and have a good selection. It’s all vinyl, no CDs or DVDs.
Big selection in a small location. Super friendly. Need to go back. Free parking !!
Do not trust the opening hours. Was on vacation from Europe and set off a couple of hours for digging. Was here at 14 when they were supposed to be open from 11-17. No-one around and the notes on the door said that the UPS man had also given up trying to deliver their package 🙁
Had to go home empty handed.. at least Radio-active records around the corner was open so that saved the day.
Extremely rude and untruthful owner.
Tje store is permanently closed. Visited today, (June 11, 2022) and the store was empty.
5. Full Circle Music, Inc.
Address: 3302 NE 33rd St, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308 , Terra Mar , Florida , United States
Great Place! Reasonable prices. Had my guitar set up . Plays and feels so Nice! Can’t wait to play it more! Professional and knowledgeable. I highly recommend bringing your musical instruments here for setups and repairs.
Absolutely amazing, tons of instruments from different countries and some are custom made!! Truly an awesome store to check, especially for fixing any instruments!
Great place to explore many, many types of instruments. Fun place to visit. Great staff too!
Unique place worth visiting. Lots of guitar from second hand
I am dumbfounded anyone can be giving this place more than one star. Complete hack. Brought a guitar in for a routine procedure, was most sloppy, amaturish job I could ever imagine. If you value your instrument at all, avoid this place at all costs. This is not a place for serious musicians or collectors. Is a tourist hole at very best. Beware.
Do not go here. The owner doesn’t know how to fix guitars.
DO NOT recommend! Guitar was shipped with no protection in two boxes that had been cut to fit and taped together, only one small piece of styrofoam in the bottom. The guitar arrived broken and is unable to be repaired. Request for a return and refund refused.
6. Penny Lane Music Emporium
Address: 3038 N Federal Hwy Suite M, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33306 , Terra Mar , Florida , United States
This isn’t just any old music store. It’s a local business that has a very knowledgeable owner with a respect and passion for all kinds of music but particularly American bluegrass. He often hosts intimate live concerts of well known musicians from around the globe. If you’re interested in seeing a live concert with less than 50 people, meet the performers, no added fees for parking or waiting in line, get on this mailing list. It’s incredibly special.
I was blown away by how helpful every member of the staff was, they were also attentive to my playing style and treat the instruments like newborn babies. I’m definitely going back and want to get one of their really nice banjos.
I bought a steel drum from Penny Lane, I dealt via email with Armando and the transaction was hyper-smooth and pleasant. I received the drum in 48h. We ought to support small shops and make sure they continue to exist and guarantee local presence and variety of offer and occupation.
I love to visit the Penny Lane Emporium! The ambience of the store when I walk in gives me just that warm fuzzy feeling of a cozy down home “pickin’ parlor”! The wide selection of quality musical instruments and accessories, combined with a dedicated and knowledgeable teaching staff makes it a great “one stop music shop” for pro and beginner alike. I especially enjoy the monthly (first Thursday) bluegrass jam sessions where fellow musicians can gather to play and exchange musical ideas in a fun and relaxed setting. Regardless of your musical skill level, you can have a wonderful time pickin’ and singin’ at The Penny Lane Emporium!
I went to this store last month to buy a new bow for my violin. Because the one that was in the case was very damaged. So when I get to the store they tell me that their bows are out of stock and to come back within a month while they order so more bows. So I came back in a months time, and bought a carbon fiber bow which was very expensive compared to the traditional violin bows. So when I made the purchase the store clerk takes the bow out of the plastic bag it came in and he put it in the case. I got home and opened the case to get the bow out and it had broken. I was so angry and very dissatisfied with the very Cheap quality of the pretty expensive item. I would just be very cautious when dealing with this company!
TERRIBLE ! I WOULD NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS PLACE!
I went to Penny Lane about a week or so ago and spoke to Trey about
music lessons for my children . This Tuesday Armando called me to tell
me it was 6:30 and he was wondering where the children were for their
music lessons. I told him there was nothing ever schelduled. He says
he talked to me the last Monday and called me to confirm their appts
for this past Tuesday I told him I most certainly did not speak to him nor
did I scheldule any appts for my children I was however awaiting a call
back from Trey. He asked me what I was going to do about this ? I said well
let’s scheldule for next Tuesday he said yes if I would like to pay for the cancelled
appt I never made I told him no why would I pay for something I never scheduled
nor did I ever sign a contract. So are we going to make it for next Tuesday and
Armando said no I don’t think so and hung up. What is that? How can he expect
pmt for lessons I never schelduled?! I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone!
This store appeared to have a nice variety & I was greeted w/a smile. I’m a 68 old professional, drove from Lake Okeechobee to visit this HARD-TO-FIND STORE. My FICO is quite high, Platinum AMEX & 3K cash in my pocket for an above average tenor though they can cost 10K+. I went to examine a Uke & the owner freaked out! “NO, NEVER TOUCH, I’ll tune it & give it to you”; nice sales approach! Never again, will I ever walk into Penny Lane. I found his attitude & demeanor insulting, offensive & condescending; however, this is just 1 man’s opinion.
7. The Music Shop
Address: 2880 NE 17th Ave, Pompano Beach, FL 33064 , Terra Mar , Florida , United States
One room great sounding room, fully equipped studio.Practices are always sound awesome, great rates and you can get your session recorded with out braking the bank and the production audio is top. If you don;t try these guys at least once you will never know what your are missing and why you are paying to much for less sounding product so where else. Very very satisfied.
Amazing stuff. Great service and a lovely variety of scores
This was a really nice store. They have a huge variety of guitars, amps, and other gear. I was able to find what I wanted and the people who worked there were friendly & helpful.
Walked in and immediately felt a friendly yet professional vibe. Was looking for a Marshall code 50 amp, which they had in stock, and were very glad to give me a competitive price on. Lana in the guitar section is awesome. She even pointed out a used model they had for a hundred bucks less. Very glad these guys are here in the neighborhood.
Great for buying, not great for repairs
The Whole time I was trying to get help with my purchase the sales guy was talking to his friend.
I’m trying to get in contact with the person that sold me an item it’s the wrong item that came to my house and everyone I call I get no answer when I get put on hold
There was no store employee around to help me find my product, I was told to look for myself. The product I was looking for was behind a counter with a register, which I chose not to go behind. When I finally asked an employee behind a register in a different section, he said I’am not familiar with what you are looking for, not sure if I can help you.
I would recommend going to the Guitar Center on Lyons rather than coming to this location. Most of the employees look and act like they hate their jobs and aren’t very willing to help and do not show much initiative. I was with my kid looking for a new drumset for him to learn on and i was told my son Noah could not use the set to try it out. We left the store and took our business to Guitar Center where they were happy to help. Spend your money anywhere else. Hell, even the pawn shops deliver better service. I will never visit here again.
Tried to go to Sam Ash and get some guitars setup and a pedal looked at, should be easy right? No. The guy Ben was a complete jerk, unhelpful, not motivated, obviously no sense of urgency for customers, and always trying to sell me things I don’t want or need. Asked him about setups, his advice was to “Leave the guitars on the counter”, asked about the pedal without even looking at it or picking it up he told me flat out “$60”. I just wanted it looked at and given an opinion, didn’t even ask him to fix it.
So I asked the front door clerk for help, nice guy seemed quiet. Directed me to where I needed to go. So I get there and see an employee with glasses helping someone, so I waited for a bit. When he got to me he explained he was “only the electronics guy” and didn’t know anything about guitars saying “The guitar fixer Brad is out with a cold, doubtful he’ll be in this week. If you want to here’s the forms fill them out and leave your stuff here”.
Confused (because I’m not going to just leave my stuff here for a week for no reason) and without help, I turned back to the the front clerk, only to have a different person be there. I asked him when Brad was expected to be back, he didn’t know. Fumbled around for a card to give me (I handed him one off the floor), then fumbled around again for a pen (I took one out of my pocket). He basically just signed brad’s name on the card and told me to call ahead of time. I thanked him for at least being civil and left.
Overall this has to be the absolute worst customer service I’ve ever received from a music store. If it wasn’t for their large selection, I’d swear they’d be out of business. If you want any decent customer service I’d try another store for sure. Don’t expect any help unless you’re buying something, in which case they’d love to take your money.
10. Radio-Active Records
Address: 5975 N Federal Hwy Suite 130, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308 , Terra Mar , Florida , United States
Always something good on the wall, always new arrivals. The only place I shop in south florida for records because there is always something worth buying here.
Love it, there’s a bunch of good stuff and the staff is helpful and nice! Only complaint is that it closes to early and it takes me a while to get out there.
Definitely worth stoping by they have a great selection in stock new or old and can order you almost anything. Don’t miss Record store day!!
Fun mom and pop record store. Decent mix of used and new vinyl. Picked up the new Brian Fallon record and a used Def Leppard Pyromania in mint condition.
Nice little shop!
Cool record shop with an eclectic selection (as most record shops have). Staff is friendly, helpful and approachable.
Radio Active Records is the stalwart of record shops in Broward. Formerly on Sunrise this is the “new” shop on Federal across from Holiday Park. As far as record shops go, it’s pretty generic. There are lots discs, some are new, some are reissues and some are used. Unlike some of the other shops they try and classify things a little for specifically. Although this brought up so some strange filings – who knew the Loretta Lynn was Rock or that the Backstreet Boys were Soul? Overall it’s a decent place, I may stop in at a later date and do more digging.
Pushing your social and political stance as soon as people walk in the door is a good way to alienate buyers, left a bad taste.
Not a fan of this record store. I went here often thinking that there were no other options but when I found out there were other places in the area I never returned here. Most of the employees are pretty rude and will not attempt to help you if you don’t look like you “belong” in their store. I haven’t been back in about a year and hopefully things have changed but I wouldn’t walk back in there. Plus, the prices are higher than local competitors.
11. Ruby Deagon
Address: 6245 N Federal Hwy Suite 411, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308 , Terra Mar , Florida , United States
First time I heard him I was impressed. Very talented singer and guitarist with a great voice. Plays guitar in some unique cool style like noone around and blows you away. He has his own original songs but also he makes alot of the cover songs different by recomposing them. The songs actually sound better than the originals and it’s nice listening to someone that doesn’t play the same old way you hear all the time and trying to mimic the exact same thing everyone is doing. So if you want talent and not karaoke you need to check him out.
12. TR Music & Voice Lessons
Address: 2500 NE 35th St, Pompano Beach, FL 33064 , Terra Mar , Florida , United States
My daughter has been coming here for years for piano, voice and ukelele lessons as well as been in their recording studio. The owner Robinson is hands on with her business and hires great staff. We’ve been so happy with all their services.
Marcus was out guitar instructor when we lived in Pompano Beach. My son LOVED him! He was great at teaching the fundamentals, making the lessons fun, allowing my son to help select music that he wanted to learn at his ability level, and exposing him to new styles of music! Years later, my son is still loving the guitar, thanks to Marcus and Taylor Robinson Music Lessons.
Taylor (the owner/instructor) is a talented musician and capable instructor and it shows just how much he cares about his students. I can think of no better start for your budding Rock Star to get started.
They have a well-reasoned system in place here and the instruction is really really good. I am just past class three of Absolute Beginners and am already able to play some of my favorite songs. They provide good resources for learning outside of class and it really all comes down to how much you are willing to commit to practicing.
Please update the address as this is not correct
13. DogManic Productions & Recording Studios
Address: 1731-B SW 7th Ave, Pompano Beach, FL 33060 , Terra Mar , Florida , United States
I have known Christian for about 3 to 4 years now and I can confidently say he is one of the most genuine, authentic, creative and talented people I know. Both Jason and Christian are absolute pleasures to work with. Jason is an easy-going, talented individual who does his best to make sure you are happy with your project. I recorded my first single with Dog Manic Recording Studios and I couldn’t be happier. The sound and quality are absolutely phenomenal and the process of getting the song done was so much fun. The studio is down right beautiful, the equipment is topnotch and most importantly, the people you are working with are trustworthy, intelligent and goodhearted. I highly recommend this studio to anyone who is serious about their music and who desires quality and distinction. I am currently working with Christian and Jason on my EP and I can’t wait to get back in there and produce another amazing tune! Thank you two so much.
Collaborating with DogManic Recording Studios has truly been a distinctive & remarkable experience. As an emerging International artist I have been writing my own rock music since the age of 14, so with such sensitivity to the original content, chief engineer “Jedi” Jason Sedawie seamlessly made my debut EP come to life in EPIC fashion.
After tracking my vocals in Hawaii, songwriting in Portugal and recording and arranging my music at Abbey Road Studios in London, I wanted to try a different climate.
After talking with a few other potential studios I found DogManic Recording Studios through Google search, Christian Solazzo (the owner) offered to give me a sample of what he felt the tunes deserved and what the studio was capable off. Communication is key to me, and the fact they really listened to what I was looking for was a great incentive to book my flights to Florida, it was a no brainer.
What really took me a back was the studio’s ethos and method behind giving an artist or songwriter clear ownership in producing their own works, not only taking my input head on but also educating me on the mixing & mastering process. It was great being able to produce my first EP with Jay as the co-producer.
DogManic Recording Studio’s has awesome vibes and I would recommend any local or international artist to work with them not only once but as a career long partnership.
Rock on,
Crystal X
Consummate professionals who are a joy to work with and deliver a great product. Would highly recommend DogManic and would happily work with them again!
How much an hour?
Really bad place, I don’t recommend. The owner is super uneducated
Disappointing and scary. Studio tech opens the door with no mask- at the height of the covid pandemic. My videographer was terrified, and singers need healthy lungs folks. Not worth the risk. Very amateurish session anyway. Tech did not have a single electronic tuner that worked so I had to tune my guitar with my iPhone. Tech did not know how to EQ my headphones so I could not hear a lot of what I was playing. Tech did not set up for drums- which was the main reason I booked the three hour session. The entire kit was closed up in zippered bags and unmiked so we had to switch to a different project. Threw my whole week off. Then tech tried to charge me a higher rate than the website lists (they’re running a covid pricing special) and I was told I can’t discuss it with the owner. Owner sent me a nasty text not to call him about billing. Tech also tried to charge me for an extra hour of “set up” (mind you, it was all done wrong). Honestly the guy spent at least that amount of time using the bathroom (this also concerned me after awhile). There are lots of studios at this low price point- in much nicer neighborhoods. I’d skip the attitude and choose another studio (lesson learned).
We show up at his studio he treated everyone with vulgar language, I don’t recommend this place to any singer that is trying to record a music video
14. 1350 Musiq Loung3
Address: 1350 S Dixie Hwy W #21st, Pompano Beach, FL 33060 , Terra Mar , Florida , United States
Joanna is a tremendously talented singer and keyboard player. I have now listened to Joanna for the past 5 years. During the peak of COVID in 2020 and 2021, I would go see Joanna every Saturday night at the EAU hotel. Listening to her sing and play keyboard was what helped me get through COVID. She has a significant following as I saw the same people go watch her play at a number of top hotels in South Florida over the past few years. I would absolutely recommend going to listen to one of her performances. You’ll be hooked!
Listened to her music in Mastros i Fort Lauderdale and it was great.
Good mix of new and older songs.
Joanna is amazing! She is such a wonderful performer who is very engaging with her audience. She is accommodating and exciting to watch sing and play! Highly recommend!!!
