Violin instructor was very knowledgeable. She adjusted to a different style of teaching to better suit my child. The shop is clean and the people who work there are very kind.
Great teachers and staff! Great collection of guitars and all musical needs! Their Facebook page is so much fun too!
Awesome place!
A week and a half later, I’m waiting on a repair that was supposed to take two days. They called on the day it was supposed to be done to say they just started working on it. Two days after that they called again to say it will be done in a week (or maybe less) due to a problem with the instrument that requires additional work. Today (a week later) they said it will be ready two weeks from the day I brought it in. While I can’t comment on the quality of the work because I still haven’t received it yet, I am disappointed with the service so far. I dislike dishonesty, excuses, and false promises. I can only hope that my instrument isn’t being butchered. I hope I’ll get it back and be able to add a positive update to this review. Unfortunately since they lied to me, I can’t trust them, so I’ll have to take it somewhere else to get it checked out after I get it back.
Update: I got the guitar back and had it checked out by a friend’s technician. He said it was in good shape, so I’ve decided to raise my rating by two stars. I won’t forget the bad communication and lack of transparency, so I don’t think I would bring an instrument here for repair a second time.
sad to have to change my review but after having dealt with this store more it seemed necessary
Why would I come here to buy $21 Elixir Strings when I can get them for $10 on Amazon? Are these even elixirs? I am 2nd guessing because the seal was ripped and the bags are crinkled inside. I feel like I was ripped off here, do not come here for your strings maybe they are knowledgable, but definatley sketchy.
I bought two sets of acoustic guitar strings for around a $20 total and later received a $140 charge from the business. Bob said he would reach out to resolve the issue but has not yet after two weeks.
Bought an over priced patch cable to find out it doesn’t work.
Was looking for a specific pair of drumsticks that I needed. I walked in and took a look at the selection they had, and they didn’t have what I needed. I asked a staff member if they could help me out and he helped me figure out what pair I needed. He happened to be the drum instructor. While trying to find the specific pair, my mother who was with me told me that he made her feel uncomfortable because of the way he acted towards her. When they “ordered” it for me and they said it’ll be here in a week.
One week later, I called to see if it had arrived. They said no. I stopped by the next day to see if it arrived and the same instructor said they’ll stop by tomorrow and pick it up for me. (From whatever warehouse they get their stuff from). The next day, guess what? THEY DIDN’T HAVE IT.
Unbelievable service. Waste of time and effort. I ended up going to A-Major Music in Gurnee. Trust me, it is worth the drive and they are MUCH more friendlier and helpful there.
Owners are amazing, it’s absolutely spotless, great selection, we love our family owned neighborhood store.
Love the employees! Really friendly and helpful!
Owner was very nice, I messaged about my favorite Stout and they actually had it in stock. I will definitely be coming back.
$199 for a bottle of Eagle Rare that should be $40. Its businesses like this that need to review what they are doing. Just ridiculous. Be ashamed of yourself!
4. Bajon Piano Studio
Address: 804 Tylerton Cir, Grayslake, IL 60030 , Third Lake , Illinois , United States
My daughter has been with Ms. Bajon and Bajon Studios for 3 years now. Ms. Bajon has been a tremendous music and theory teacher and mentor to my daughter who is now 8 years old. She enjoys her sessions and practice materials and has been telling me for 2+ years she hopes to become a Piano teacher like Ms. Bajon someday. I highly recommend Ms. Bajon for new students looking to learn Piano, music theory, and the proper technique to develop into a great pianist.
All three of my children have taken lessons at the Bajon Piano Studio and have had a wonderful experience. This community is truly fortunate to have the talent and knowledge that Ms. Bajon offers. She is a classically trained pianist who has dedicated her life to educating students. She brings so much to the lesson beyond simply playing notes. She teaches them about the composer, the time period during which it was written, and what the composer was trying to express. She truly goes above and beyond a normal piano lesson. If you’re serious about your child’s music education, look no further than the Bajon Piano Studio. Ms. Bajon is fantastic!
My 10 year old son has been taking Piano Lessing from Ms Bajon for the past 4 years. She has been great. Ms Bajon does not just focus on playing the right keys but also technique, precision and quality of music and sound. My son has learnt a lot from her. I highly recommend.
5. Neglected Noise Records/P.W Designs
Address: 888 E Belvidere Rd Suite 308, Grayslake, IL 60030 , Third Lake , Illinois , United States
Grandson in orchestra needed a special double bass book. They had it, yeah!!! Theg are super friendly!
Me suena..
Not answering your phones while your shop should be open is a horrible way to run a business. There’s no option to leave a message either.
A very disappointing experience recently – used to rent from them for school and take lessons there many years ago. Recently took in several brass instruments for some cleaning and repairs, and the communication was horrible – they didn’t tell me what was going on with my instruments, I had to call several times to figure out what was going on, and then after almost two months they still hadn’t had any of the work done. I finally got them back yesterday, and they weren’t even satisfactorily cleaned. Whoever does their brass work, they are not up to snuff. Go somewhere else.
If you want to speak with someone condescending, rude, and extremely stuck up, you’re calling the right place. I was calling to get information to rent an instrument for my sons new orchestra program and I was not only insulted by an employee, but the owner herself. If you are not an uppity brat, this isn’t the place for you.
7. Greg’s Guitar Lessons
Address: 120 N Mill Rd, Grayslake, IL 60030 , Third Lake , Illinois , United States
After many years of haphazard dabbling on the guitar, I was extremely nervous about finally taking the next step, one on one lessons. But I am SO incredibly glad that I did, and that I chose Greg.
His relentless enthusiasm, incredible patience, and encyclopedic knowledge about all things music make him the absolute ideal Jedi master of the guitar world. He has a gift to make even the most nervous student (me) feel at ease. He structures his lessons in ways that make sense, each new acquired skill making the next level attainable. My abilities grew by leaps and bounds in the time I’ve been working with him. I would sing his praises all day and all night (And now, I have the guitar skills to back up my vocals!)
I truly don’t believe I would have had even a fraction of this success with any other teacher, and cannot recommend him enough!
Very,VERY supportive atmosphere. Your comfort and calm mind are priority #1. Next comes the professionalism. Greg is super knowledgeable about his equipment and takes the time to understand what YOUR EXPECTATIONS are. He wants to get to your goals and ideas and help you express them. I’ve been in studios where they will take your money and tell you how “great you are” because it’s easier than telling you that you need to do it again. Greg has a good ear, a mountain of patients, and some very cool equipment, all in a friendly casual space.
I’ve worked with Greg before and look foreword to working wit him again.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Very knowledgeable and great teacher. Always knows the best way to help you get better
Friendly staff…quick service even when Super busy!
It’s clean and the people there are friendly.
cheap gas
It’s a gas station. Sometimes they’re the cheapest, sometimes not.
If you have a flat or near flat tire don’t come here cause the air machine is ALWAYS out of service
The employees here don’t care anything about customer service. Over the years, there have only been a couple of times when I needed to go inside to speak to an employee because I was having an issue with something, but the last two times (last winter when the pumps were overflowing and then today when the cashier didn’t know how to enter the rewards number when paying by cash), I was given the same despondent attitude, with no accountability whatsoever, and certainly no apology. I think they are missing a crucial element in their social skills.
Slow worker’s.
10. Chapin Jazz Studio | Chapin Jazz X-tet
Address: 146 Center St Ste 4, Grayslake, IL 60030 , Third Lake , Illinois , United States
Very cool little place. Had a guitar set up by them. Service was fast, fair and clean. Awesome people work there make you feel very welcome. Love the room full of wornstar products. Strongly recommend this place for your music needs.
Staff is very friendly and knowledgable .. Live the record room in back !
Great music store and excellent guitar tech. Brought in my 60’s ES300 for some work and when i got it back it played better than the day it left Gibson. A customer for ages and for a good reason.
Music store with a nice selection of instruments. Some vinyl and CDs too, although it has very few, if any, hidden treasures. 2 stars removed because the one employee and 2 of the customers were not wearing masks when I visited. I would have spent more time and money here if they were. Stay safe, everyone.
Friendly people
I was very dissatisfied with this location as they don’t offer any instruments that would allow the user to produce the sounds of Echolocation
