I was actually there next to the coffee shop volunteering at the Vail Food Bank picking up donations from Walmart and Fry’s grocery store.
Truly “merican
Vail coffee stop is an excellent place for the family. I got out with under 20 bucks!! I came back another time and got some awesome swag! I love the patio and the coffee is absolutely amazing! I truly recommend going here!
The drink I ordered was good, but too sweet for my taste. Next time, I’ll be sure to ask for less syrup. Service was friendly. The covered patio was very nice.
Nice local shop
Decent coffee, good prices, great donuts (when they have them), super friendly service!

Very informative and helpful staff. Great inventory.
Nice instrument and great advice and service.
I picked up my yanagisawa 8833 alto sax after having a complete pro overhaul done by James. I cannot tell you how happy i am with the job he did. i was able to go in to a practice room and play it a bit before leaving and was thrilled with the key regulation, action up and down the horn, and easy response in the upper register… all my harmonic overtones popped out – so much easier without the leaks! i really like the feel for the horn… and it looks nice and shiny again!
Needless to say I am very pleased. James did excellent work done and I am happy to recommend his services to others.
Thanks again,
Duane Chun
Selection of instruments was good, nice and friendly staff.
Friendly staff, nice environment. 4 stars because they don’t carry enough tuba repertoire.
Went for reeds. Nice variety. Clean and well organized store. Helpful and welcoming employees. Has pretty much everything in stock.
Had my violin taken in for string and bridge replacement because of old age. When given back they failed to consult if I wanted the gear pegs back on, nor did they fill my request of a new bridge. When taken to a second opinion they stated that the bridge was ready to collapse and was causing issue to the sound post.
Not pleased at all. I called ahead to get instruments repaired and was told it would be two weeks. I drove to drop off instruments and asked if I could have them done a few days sooner. I was told the repair person is taking a vacation and it would be 3 weeks. But, if I wanted to pay double, I could have it done sooner. What a scam! I will never do business with this music store.
When I called to ask how much it would cost to replace violin strings, they said it was free and that I would only be charged for the new strings themselves. But when I brought the violins in, they charged me $25 per violin. Then, after a few days of practice on the newly stringed violins, one (of the two) violins irreparably broke at the base where the strings would attach, likely because they had negligently applied too much force in replacing the strings. In all, I paid them almost $100 to ruin one of my violins, which cost me $400 to replace. They are liars and at least when it comes to violins, they are also incompetent.
I purchased 3 Bromptom bikes, bike equipment, and repair services. My customer experience over several years is 10 out 10.

Guys are very helpful, quick to do the repairs needed. Fun little shop
They have any used musical instrument you could want and lots of great bikes as well. They have a surprisingly good collection of used LP’s as well
I was selling an amp and a saxophone. Pretty easy to work with, at least easier than the place who referred me over. I was asked if I could be helped and was helped quickly.
Nice ride group, cool folding bikes, very comfortable.
good store..a tad overpriced on certain items… the staff is decent, there is one guy who always seems like he’s in bad mood he’s usually right at the front, his service could use some improvement, other than that neutral experience I guess, definitely not much of a welcoming vibe.
Not a word from staff my whole visit. Sales 101
Over priced. Disappointing
Will Rip You Off

Tony sold me a great left-handed Taylor guitar which has turned out to be one of the best guitars
I’ve ever owned, thanks again, brother great guitar, great deal………….

Excellent service. Bought a guitar a year ago (which was excellent quality and value by the way), came back in today to get a box for it to ship to my father… the owner remembered me and gave me a box for free. I’ll be back!
These guys brought my guitar back to life. Highly recommend!
Used guitars and amps are fairly priced. There are some hard to find items that move through here often. But yo T, GYST.
Great group of knowledgeable and helpful guys. They went out of their way to make sure that I was happy with my purchase. I will continue to go to them for my musical needs. Great place to shop.
Basic local music shop. Owner seemed very nice.
STAY AWAY. Shady Business. Years back, I stopped doing business with Tony, because something felt ‘off’ about it. Recently, I went back, and shouldn’t have.
He was so happy to see me because I typically would buy higher end items. I would spend $1000-$2000 per guitar.
This time, I wanted a guitar that I had seen on the wall at Guitar Center for about $1700, but was sold when I went to buy it. Tony said he would order it. I paid in full and waited. Months went by and no guitar. When I asked about it, the answers each week ranged from “That’s (the manufacturer)” to “I only got a partial shipment, maybe on the next one”.
Finally, I had enough and asked about canceling. He said he would check with the company if he could. The following day, he claimed the the order had shipped. When I still asked about canceling, he stated there was a 50% restocking fee and we would have to pay for all return shipping costs from the company, so I said “just give me my guitar”. Meanwhile, I called the manufacturer. I found out that not only was there NO restocking fee, but there was also NO WAY the guitar shipped because they were out of stock due to a material shortage. There was NO WAY he could have even ordered it. Not only that, but vendors do not charge dealers until the shipments are received, they use terms called Net30. Much like buying on a credit card. So, he had my money, but hadn’t paid the company yet. He was just sitting on my money.
The next time I came into the store, he said “We have to cancel it”. I asked why since he said it had shipped, (knowing that it hadn’t, but I didn’t tell him that). He then tried to blame me claiming I told him to cancel it, but I never did. I was frustrated, but I said, ‘fine’. He then told me he would take my CC number and refund my money “on Monday” a week later. I asked why and he said it was because he was waiting on the company to refund him. (But, the company never took his money) I said, “I didn’t do my business with them, I did it with you”. He gave me a long drawn out LIE, and refused to refund my money until Monday came around. In the end, my pushing the issue got him to admit his RENT WAS DUE on the store and he didn’t have enough money to refund me. (Not my problem) Ultimately, he offered me several guitars in trade so he wouldn’t have to refund my money.
He does NOT know the first thing about pricing. He is way overpriced on everything in his store. But, he’s a ‘talker’ and will try convincing you he’s cutting you an “awesome deal”.
He claims there is some “blue book” used as a pricing guideline, there isn’t. Because musical instruments are considered a “hobby” market, which is why places like Rainbow and GC use sites like Ebay to gauge the market.
He preys on those who do not understand the music instrument market. When I priced the items he was offering in trade, they were worth 1/2 what he had them on his wall for. So, I had no choice but to take a loss, because there was simply nothing else in his store that was valuable enough to warrant my trading for and I knew he was never going to refund my money.
I will NEVER do business with him again. The “good” reviews you see about his business are undoubtedly from friends/family or false accounts. This business was investigated for multiple instances of consumer fraud over several years. Think about that before you walk into that store.
Dont go here.
I shopped there for years. The staff is nice. Only buy what’s in stock though. I ordered a $350 guitar pedal that took 3 months of pestering before I finally received it.
8. Chicago Music Store
Address: 5646 E Speedway Blvd, Tucson, AZ 85712 , Vail , Arizona , United States
Great staff , products … very cool
I highly recommend
Great selection of instruments. I really like the customer service and the repair technicians rock. I took my daughter’s saxophone in for repairs and received very professional repair at a reasonable price. I would definitely take it back there if it needs any additional tweaking but so far so good my daughter is over the top pleased with how the horn sounds.
I love Chicago Music. Great selection of inventory and the staff is very knowledgeable & friendly!
Great service, Mark and his team were really helpful!
Pretty good selection of instruments other than no ovation guitars. Didn’t have the product I was looking for and the desk manager is very pushy about selling. Other than those, decent store.
Everyone was nice wish they would have returned the product I purchased tho.
The guitar technician is one of the worst I’ve encountered in the many years I’ve been playing guitar. He was VERY rough with a 1300 dollar guitar. In his haste and carelessness he damaged a flamed maple top. He shrugged his shoulders and said, “that is what happens when you work on a guitar”. I can’t imagine the damage he creates behind customer’s backs. His methods of examination and his repair knowledge was at a staggering incompetent level. I DO NOT RECOMMEND going to this technician. Don’t know his name. Just best to stay clear from any tech from the store on speedway.
For people who play guitar with left hand beware not the place for you to expensive but for people who play with there right hand good choice for you
Worst Music Store in Tucson. Don’t ever buy from them.
9. Gentleman Jacks Barber Lounge
Address: 13360 E Mary Ann Cleveland Way Suite 118, Vail, AZ 85641 , Vail , Arizona , United States
This place is incredible. Barbers are the most professional I’ve ever seen. Nice atmosphere and even better haircut.
I was skeptical of the hype and the ratings. They are pretty much the barber in the area. Got an excellent hair cut for a slightly steep price. They play up the ambiance with the barbers wearing craftsman aprons,
Amazing as always! This shop takes you back to the days of great barbering, great conversations, and that community feeling….
Nice place and they did a very nice job but be prepared to pay the price.
In short, you get what you pay for.
After several attempts at getting my hair cut at other places around Rita Ranch and ending up with uneven hair, I decided to give Gentleman Jacks a try. After reading the reviews, I made a reservation online to avoid any issues. I went for one of their first appointments of day. I got there a little early, and the store was open before the posted hours – didn’t have to wait outside for them to open the door.
I explained what I wanted, and the guy cutting my hair did exactly what I asked. He noted that my hair was uneven in several spots.
The atmosphere is very chummy. It seems like all the barbers know their customers very well.
Overall, I really like the place, but like I said, you get what you pay for. If you are not prepared for a $32 haircut that will take about 30 minutes, then this might not be the place for you.
Looking to make an appt for a haircut but they didnt have one that fit my schedule.
I walked in and the place was absolutely filthy. There must have been 20 customers worth of hair on the floor. Had I not needed a haircut desperately, I would have turned around and walked out. The place was vacant, and I could see why. The only barber in the place was more interested in playing on his cell phone than sweeping the floor. Disgusting.
They seem to do good work but the barber didn’t listen to a single thing I asked for. I even showed him a picture of the hair cut I wanted and it was nothing at all like the picture! I hate my hair cut.
Super disappointed when we arrived for my son’s appointment with Edgar. My son has longer hair (top of the shoulders) and Edgar said he can’t cut his hair since it’s too long and that only a couple of staff members can. Too bad those barbers were booked out for weeks. We really did not feel welcome at all. Edgar recommended a salon but my son immediately felt deflated when he said that due to his peers calling him a girl. I thought most of society was moving past things like this but I guess I was wrong. I do not recommend this barbershop sadly.
10. The Folk Shop
Address: 2525 N Campbell Ave, Tucson, AZ 85719 , Vail , Arizona , United States
Came in over the labor day weekend from out of town. I needed help with tuning my mandolin. The staff were friendly, professional and very helpful.
Great place to hang out and harass the staff. Good guitars, fair prices, helpful people, interesting customers. Go there and buy something.
I love this shop. The staff is great. A great place for anything folksy. I always walk away smiling.
Neat shop, friendly staff. Went in to see if they could help with my Djembe drum repair, but they don’t currently have anyone who can replace and restring the skin for the drumhead ☹️
Cool little shop, not that wheelchair friendly but I was still able to get around. The staff I interacted with was very knowledgeable and helpful just looking for a harp for my daughter and he helped get it set up and answered all my questions and my daughters.
They repaired my 12 string guitar
I am absolutely incredulous as to how condescendingly I was treated over the phone by this place. I arrived with my Taylor 312-CE looking to trade up and quite likely spend substantial chunk of money. I noticed the posting on the door that read (I may be paraphrasing) “masks required even for those vaccinated.” I have been twice jabbed with Pfizer, but no problem. I get it. I understand it. People may not be fully honest about their status and might contaminate others. I have zero issue complying with the policy The posting also read “do not knock; call to be granted entry” (again, I may be paraphrasing, but this was the gist). I keep a KN-95 with me in the car but couldn’t find it. Maybe it fell behind the seat or something. I ring their number. A woman answers. Convo goes like this: “Hi, I noticed you require masks even for the vaxxed, which I am fully, but I can’t seem to find mine here in my car….I’m here outside….do you happen to have any masks there inside the store that you could pass out to me”? (like logical, sensible merchants across town, the state, the country have in abundance in case you forgot or can’t find yours—sterile ones for the taking in boxes) “If not, I don’t live too far. I can run home, grab one and come back”. The woman on the phone raises her voice and says “NO YOU NEED TO WEAR A MASK” and abruptly hangs up!! Um, I think I got that part and more than amply communicated it back. Wow. And delivered with a tone of voice akin to Mrs. Gulch from Wizard of Oz. I was perfectly polite, acknowledged the policy and was willing to go out of my way to comply. This is not only ridiculously bad policy, but there was not even basic intelligible, lucid communication on her part. Not the conduct of a sound minded individual.
Now, for some background. I have never made any major purchases at Folk Shop. However, I have patronized them over years–even before I moved to Tucson. The first time, I was recording an album visiting from Austin in 2014 and needed a dobro capo. The engineer called around to Guitar Center and few other places. They didn’t even know what a dobro was, much less a dobro capo. Folk Shop to the rescue with a Paul Beard capo, just like the one I had forgotten and left back in TX! I’ve been there since for strings, straps, stainless steel slides etc. Never ever the slightest of problems. What happened today is totally inexcusable. I myself have been fastidious and a stickler about masking and distancing throughout the pandemic, but this kind of post-mandate fanaticism, illogic and outright meanness is beyond the pale. They certainly don’t want my money or any of my future business. To hell with this place. l’ll buy a guitar from Musician’s Friend before stepping foot in there, even though I prefer to shop locally.
Well, over the years I’ve bought, sold, and traded with Paul and really wouldn’t do so again. The last guitar I purchased there had broken tuner barrels and more important, his pricing and moods vary wildly. Certainly lots to look at, but no great shakes in terms of quality or pricing.
Very rude disrespectful because I was asking for a part and I didn’t have a mask and I wasn’t trying to go in the place without permission and they were just very rude very very rude and I didn’t understand I was thrown off by it. Yelling at me for no reason all I wanted was a part I didn’t even try to go into shop told her I’d wait outside because I didn’t have a mask she slams door in my face. So I go get a mask and they won’t even deal with me I was the up most respectful and didn’t deserve that. Very very rude!!! I’ll never do business with them again.
11. Music & Arts
Address: 9630 E 22nd St Suite 130, Tucson, AZ 85748 , Vail , Arizona , United States
Stopped by Music & Arts to plugin and try out an acoustic guitar amp they had in stock there. I had the good fortune to meet Louis and Steven there – a couple of super helpful gentlemen that answered all my questions and attended to my guitar needs letting me tryout the full selection of acoustic guitar amps. Most importantly they demonstrated refreshing kindness and patience with an old flat picker. Thanks fellas! (I purchased a most excellent Fishman Loudbox Mini)
Really knowledgeable and friendly staff. 11/10 would definitely help them in the zombie apocalypse.
Awesome little shop! Great place for guitar players, and a bit of orchestra stuff. Check it out!
Nice enough store. Employees seemed cool. Owned and operated by Guitar Center. I still prefer local when possible, but this place is nice.
my son had saxophone lessons scheduled about a week in advance so we showed up to our appointment only to have the front desk guy tell us that he supposedly called me and left me a voicemail telling me our instructor cancelled us. i had no missed calls or voicemails. i left work early to bring my son, wasted time and gas having to drive 30+ minutes to get here. very unprofessional.
12. Music & Arts
Address: 8320 N Thornydale Rd Suite 150/170, Tucson, AZ 85741 , Vail , Arizona , United States
Very attentive staff. The manager was interacting with my family as soon as we walked in, which made it all the more enjoyable. The team is there was streamlined and efficient in writing me up. The kids were aloud to play the instruments while I took care of paperwork. I will definately be returning
Helpful and friendly staff. I needed to order piano music from the same composer at two difficulty levels. I was then able to hold the hard copies in my hand and determine which book best fitted my piano student.
They were very accommodating during the whole process and there was no pressure to purchase either book if they did not meet my needs.
Always a pleasure to work with kind and reasonable people.
Very knowledgeable and helpful staff.
Abit more expensive than the guitar center.
Just want to say that I am a fan of this store. I think they do a great job at helping people find what they are looking for and have them leaving satisfied with their musical purchases. With that being said, I want to make a point that only having one store closer is unsafe. Multiple times in the past year I have heard of there being theft. I’m concerned for the employees’ safety and customer safety.
Protect your employees! They make the company money!
I used to be loyal customer for years. Howerver, M&A’s new strategy of “Paperless receipts”, requires that I provide my email address for a purchase. Their “paperless reciept” excuse is nothing more than a strategic excuse to obtain email addresses so they can spam. When I stated I do not provide my email, they refused to sell me a service. I have since found a local music store that is more friendly and will no longer use M&A.
I was very unhappy with the way this store sold us an instrument after we rented one for over two years. We qualified for the rental credit and it was given to us. The problem was that they valued the used rental instrument at $800+ and they sell the same one brand new for about $470. The reason they do that is that there is a clause that states that when using the rental credit one must buy an instrument that cost the same or more than the rental so they jack up the value of the rental. We were told that we couldn’t buy the flute we had been renting and could not get a new flute because it wasn’t equal or more value to the one we had been renting per terms of our agreement. They said that our only option was to purchase a used refurbished flute from the warehouse and it would be sent to us. We feel that this is a very shady way to do business. Not recommended. Updated; Thank you for your reply too, owner of the store. I have already sent an email but thanks for suggesting it.
One of the worst experiences I have ever had dealing with incompetent employees all the way up to management (heaven) to even cooperate , I’m so thankful I no longer have to deal with any of these people again especially the guitar instructor, I did not appreciate every little comment he made about any of the equipment we brought in to shame my child because the items he brought in were passed down from his grandfather , I also find it way more convenient to order my items on Amazon for a much lower rate and to not have to deal with individuals that are looking to charge me an over priced rate , I gave a small shop a chance to help out locally and all they did was run the “he said she said “ experience, I will not and do not recommend this place to anyone , one of the worst experiences I have ever had at any facility . Good riddance !!!!
Great place to listen to music but although drinks are on special, they tend to be quite watery. Also, they do a 50/50 raffle but the staff is allowed to participate which I dont think is right. When I was there last, a waitress won the raffle.
14. Zia Records (Speedway – Tucson)
Address: 3370 E Speedway Blvd, Tucson, AZ 85716 , Vail , Arizona , United States
The store has amazing service and the store racks are full to the brim making sure you find what your looking for
This store is amazing. A little pricey but you can find all kinds of gifts for just about anyone.
They’ve got the best metal section in town, with both new and used Cds. There are lots of black, death, thrash and metalcore albums from around the world. If they don’t have what you’re looking for, then they will try to order it for you and sometimes they can transfer it from another store in Phoenix or Las Vegas.
They also have a sweet rewards program where you can buy an item for half price , if you build up enough points.
If you’re looking for your favorite record, movie, book, tv show or some cool clothing gear, Zia is the place!!! The staff is amazing, the music that is played in the store is amazing. Plus, not to mention the location is smack dab right in the middle of the shopping center which makes you want to come back over and over again!!
Great selection but miss the one on prince and Oracle due to location
Cozy place
Out of all my travels around the country hitting record stores this is by far the most lackluster, disorganized record store I’ve ever set foot in. Won’t be back.
Great place.
Sold me a brand new DVD that freezes over and over. $14.00 down the drain…back to RedBox.!
15. Southwest Strings
Address: 1721 S Cherrybell Stra, Tucson, AZ 85713 , Vail , Arizona , United States
Large inventory and very helpful, friendly, honest staff.
Great instruments , Quick , and Easy
Just as a disclaimer, I am no musician in any sense of the meaning. I came in with a unknown violin in poor condition, that I want to have redone for a Christmas present. Adam was very knowledgeable, professional and it was a very educational trip for me. Wonderful layout in their store. They had sheet music and instruments as far as you can see!
Great service; changed my string for me. Don’t know about the string itself though. I bought a replacement E string for my violin. Got home to tune it, and it broke right away.
Very Nice plece coolSTUFF
Love this place nice people
Their physical shop customer service might be great but online service is horrible! They will say anything to close a ticket, even lie about stock! We have tried with several stores to get a specific violin case and every shop has been sold out and also lied about stock. That is why we specifically asked Southwest Strings first about stock before placing the order. The did exactly the same as every other store…. “Yes we confirm we have stock” – just to place the order and be told “We are currently out of stock”
I’ve been a loyal customer for 30+ years and purchased and traded both of my violas here but they won’t even consider purchasing a previously used instrument!
Do NOT buy from here. I returned a defective violin ( Two luthiers inspected the violin and noted multiple of the same defects ) and SW strings refused a full return and told me the violin has no defects therefore I do not qualify for a full refund, only partial. They never even reimbursed the cost of sending the violin back ( I had to pay for the 20 dollar box ). Additionally, the qr code they sent me for FedEx did not work and they said it was not their problem but FedEx’s. Anyway, as expected of a online only shop, it is very risky to buy from here, best go to a local store with actual professionals.
16. Jacob’s Music Shoppe
Address: 1682 E Fry Blvd, Sierra Vista, AZ 85635 , Vail , Arizona , United States
Very nice and polite staff. They are cool and laid back. I took my 12 string in to be restrung and tuned. Jon straightened her neck and even played a song for me on my guitar. Highly recommend! I will be back.
Everyone there was very helpful when I was looking for a new cable. All future music related purchases will definitely be from here.
Though I miss the previous owner, The new owners are great. Very helpful, friendly and great to speak with. I’ve purchased a guitar and quite a few other things and completely happy with the service I received. Support a small local business! need something they don’t have, they can order it for you!
Nice place. Good range of instruments for reasonable prices. Friendly people.
Everything went great in my business dealings with them until I went to their bank to cash their check. The bank did not want to cash it- they made me wait 20 minutes while the teller had a conference with the manager. Long story short National Bank charged me $8.00 for the privilege of getting real money. I was to get $400 for my guitar but I only got $392 this is not fair. I think Jacob should give me the 8 dollars to make it right but he will not pay in money, only checks. This is not right.
17. Walmart Supercenter
Address: 9260 S Houghton Rd, Tucson, AZ 85747 , Vail , Arizona , United States
My son and daughter-in-law had their rehearsal breakfast here. The atmosphere was wonderful and the staff was exceptional. I couldn’t have asked for better service. The food Was served buffet style and everything was delicious. The pricing was extremely competitive and I would definitely have another event at their facility. I would definitely book them for birthdays, office events even holidays. It’s just not worth the The mess at the house and the clean up time. everything is done for you. The cost was well worth it.
Beautiful place, food ok, service was very good.
The service is great. Management needs to work on making this place a popular restaurant for the locals. Menu is ok.
This place has greatly improved.
Service great, atmosphere great. Karaoke great. Pizza was not very good.
If you like dead bugs in your food, wilted and slimy salads and fruit that’s not remotely ripe, then you’ll love this place
Wednesday Burger Night used to be good. Now the menu price has increased and the burgers are mostly tasteless! You lost a three year patron!
Was not impressed with the food or service. I have not been here for close to 2 years and am not sure I will go back again.
19. Taco Bell
Address: 13440 E Mary Ann Cleveland Way, Vail, AZ 85641 , Vail , Arizona , United States
Love the service this location provides. They truly work to make you feel valued as a customer. The food is always on point and they are one the best in ensuring they have your order correct every time. Would highly recommend this location.
Generally not a Taco Bell person but their bean burritos are tasty and priced correctly.
Friendly reception easy selfhelp ordering. Food tasty, photos bit misleading as food received does not look like photos on menus.
Clean, good tacos, a little slow.
Basic taco bell stuff.
Amazing food! You can taste the quality and care in each bite of food from this location. The beefy 5 layer has the most authentic tasting beans from the south and the cheese just melts in your mouth!! sometimes the chips are a little over salted but I just put extra sauce in them to take away the salty Would definitely recommend ! My son says The food here makes me unresponsive for about 20 minutes while I demolish my meal Everytime that’s how you know it’s amaizng Mexican!
Went there when 10 minutes after it said my order was being made by it was not ready. I asked for a refund or to cancel it and was told I could not. Staff was nice about it just wish it wasn’t automated saying my food is being made.
I can only speak for 1 Taco Bell. The one in Vail on the corner Mary Ann Cleveland and Colosal Cave is my worst experience at a Taco Bell. I ordered Cheesy Gordita Crunches as well as other food but I am going to focus on the Cheesy Gordita Crunches. My opinion, they should take out “Cheesy” because it was not cheesy at all. The Gordita didn’t stick to the taco shell due to lack of cheese. I showed the manager, he might have been the owner in uniform. He said he would correct the problem and gave me 2 more Cheesy Gordita Crunches. I get in the car and the problem still existed. All that was done was a big pile of iceberg lettuce. I told him the cheese was ridiculous. There is no reply that can excuse this horrible wrong doing. Remember? “CHEESY” Gordita Crunches. Yo Quiero Taco Bell No Más. Nosotros necesitamos del taco?
