Best Guitar Shop in Ventura. Beautiful selecition of various guitars. Great Staff!
The cats that run this place are quite entertaining. Be sure to visit next week if you’re looking for a hollow top guitar. A little birdie told me that they are about to release quite a few from an estate that’s just been auctioned off as one whole lot. Pre-90’s was the key word. I hope y’all find what you’re looking for. I picked up a eukele to travel discreetly in the cab. My 12 string just takes up too much space and doesn’t like tents. Ventura was a blast for a day!
Swell bunch cats over there. Rob is a stand up guy that goes out of his way to make a customer happy. He does what it takes and exceeds in a world that needs kindness and understanding
Emailed a guy there he never even attempted to respond not very good customer skills.
Upper knowledge of instruments
Really nice store. Very clean and well organized. Some really pretty guitars. Fender, Guild, G & L, and many more acoustic. Only gave it a 4 because I went in for a set of acoustic strings and after 15 minutes no one had helped me. Poor guy was by himself and was helping a customer look for some stuff on the internet.
Poor customer service. Rude! Very possessive of my own instrument. Rob was being mean and passive aggressive with me because he made a mistake on my guitar and he had to fix for free. Right after I picked it up two days later from the shop my guitar came back with buzz that wasn’t even there before. I called him and told him that I’m unhappy. MY GUITAR WAS PERFECTLY FINE BEFORE HE TOUCHED IT!
He apparently put a new saddle on it. Which doesn’t seem to be much different from the other one in size. Which he kept and did not return. I tried communicating with him what I do and how I do it. However, this man was ignoring me the entire time and spoke down to me with false knowledge. He made me feel unwelcome in his shop and he made me feel that he was very close minded in music and didn’t understand anything about transposing and power chords on an acoustic guitar. It’s very disappointing for me because I live here in Downtown Ventura. I live in the WAV building for artists. Therefore, it’s very tragic the only music store open in town is ran by an ignorant, stuck up, close minded, old receding hair line, middle aged, sad, pathetic old guy.
P.S.
I know how to restring my guitar.
I just prefer to pay someone else to do it under half an hour, not two days!
GUITAR CENTER IS WORTH THE DISTANCE!
They totally get YOU (the musician)!
It is okay
2. LA MUSIC SUPPLY
Address: 1050 E Thompson Blvd, Ventura, CA 93001 , Ventura , California , United States
Guitars of all makes and models at affordable price and he makes his own guitar strings
Stopped in to pick up some Low G strings for my UKE. They had them! So stoked.
Also a great selection of guitars, ukes, strings, amps. The owner, very cool and easy to talk to.
They have got Ukulele. Small guitars originated from Hawaii supposedly. Four string instrument. Nice display of various Guitars. You learn a lot when you come inside and browse! I don’t plan on playing any guitar soon but ukulele cost was only 59 dollars. A small little store in Ventura!
Cool place. Owner is mellow, no pressure, and he knows the business well. He likes to talk about musical equipment. Prices on strings and accessories are competitive. Good selection of guitars, especially for a smaller locally owned place.
Was being very inappropriate with my grandma in front of me. Was making my grandma, and me, very uncomfortable. Didn’t wanna give us a recipe and saying the guitar wasn’t playable. We took it some where else and it worked right away! Overall very creepy and weird.
I was disappointed with the selection
4. Ventura Music Center
Address: 2020 E Main St, Ventura, CA 93001 , Ventura , California , United States
Experienced a very encouraging and friendly environment at Ventura Music Center that I have not found anywhere else, Bravo.
Small music store with a decent selection of guitars, music books, and accessories. Music lessons are available too onsite.
Ted is an excellent guitar teacher who is kind, fun and encouraging. My teenage boy looks forward to his lessons. In addition he has parts for all kinds of instruments including band and strings.
Don’t go here for guitar repairs, you’re welcome.
Drove 20 minutes, on a Thursday. 4:45pm. They were closed!! Even had an “open” sign on the door. Nice job guys. Ya lost me and you didn’t even try. Maybe next visit to Ventura?
No answer on phone,mailbox full
5. Jockamo Records
Address: 522 E Santa Clara St, Ventura, CA 93001 , Ventura , California , United States
So many good finds at this vinyl paradise! Small shop but packed to the max with stock. Larger quantity of records than I’ve seen at most shops 3 times this size.
Hefty selection with a good mix of new and used stuff. Every time I go in here I walk out with gems, many of which I haven’t had a hope of finding in years of vinyl buying. Knowledgeable owner Dave will get ya what ya need! Highly recommended, check it out!
One of the best record shops I’ve visited. There’s a really great selection of quality albums at reasonable prices.
Needed an ‘ unavailable ‘ classic rock triple cd , John found it in 1 day ! wow ! I’ll be back . . . .
Cool little record shop. Lots of good stuff included a used section. Not alot of metal but you’re bound to find something you like.
Cool store! Just a bit overpriced.
honestly really disappointed.. my sister and i came for record store day. when we got to the front we asked if they had any Taylor swift left. he said no with a lot of attitude like we were bothering him, and we were pretty bummed about Taylor, but that’s not really what bothered me. a few minutes after, a was telling his coworker about how super excited this guys was to get Taylor, but did it in a super condescending way to like rub it in our faces. and trust me i know how weird that sounds. we were weirded out too. and on top of that, someone had called asking him if he was carrying the Taylor vinyl and after he hung up, he was making fun of her and just was being super rude about her. I grew up coming here… but after today i will never go back. ill definitely stick to salzer’s and Grady’s were they are kind.
6. Anacapa Ukulele

What an amazing experience. I love this shop and Lloyd is GREAT! What a great resource for our community!
Took our 1st ukulele lesson tonight. We have no music background at all. They set us up with instruments to try for the class and then lent them to us to practice until the next class. Very kind & considerate. Highly recommend!
This place is amazing. I love their wealth of knowledge and positive vibes. Thank you Lloyd and Lisa.
7. Venture Chamber Music
Address: 474 E Santa Clara St, Ventura, CA 93001 , Ventura , California , United States
The best repair experience ever. Patrick was attentive and listened to what I wanted with my sax. He performed the repair and got it back to me sooner than I thought it would take. And it plays… more beautiful than the day I bought it. Thank you sir for your expertise and master craftmanship!
I was looking for a good quality instrument for my sons Band practice and found just what I was looking for. Love doing business locally. Definitely will go back.
9. Grady’s Record & CD Refuge
Address: 2546 E Main St, Ventura, CA 93003 , Ventura , California , United States
My favorite small record shop for about 15 years. Still kicks @ss.
Grady always has new inventory coming in , and frequently it’s exactly what we like!
Just a great record store like they used to be.
Really cool Vibe here
Great place and sanctuary for these preserved albums. I loved the variety they offered but unfortunately I couldn’t say as pleasant compliments about their staff.
I went to sell records and he kept me waiting with my kids in the hot car and then never came out.
10. Pulse Drumming LLC and PULSE MUSIC ACADEMY
Address: 3290 Loma Vista Rd, Ventura, CA 93003 , Ventura , California , United States
Trey is a super rad dude! Definitely recommend this place!
Great people and a great local drum school and shop!
Good place to learn drums friendly staff
I was stoked with the shop until i needed to return the $180.00 djembe case i bought yesterday that didn’t fit my drum. The only case that would fit was a $55.00 Ghana bag which is fine. They wouldn’t credit back the difference. Said store credit was the only option. I don’t understand why and now i feel mistrusting.
11. Golden Mastering
Address: 1721 E Main St, Ventura, CA 93001 , Ventura , California , United States
The customer service was great. The mastering job, as always, turned out to be stellar. Warm, living
sound is hard to get in a mastered cd. John is our favorite!
12. Ventura Guitar Company
Address: Ventura, CA 93003 , Ventura , California , United States
Just a great place to visit, always good music playing. Love all the items there. So many cool things. One and only’s can be found there. Awesome amount of music can be found there. Eclectic, alternative, country old and new. Any kind of music you desire is there. It’s Ventura’s best store. It’s worth a trip from afar.
Awesome selection of stuff. Especially NARDCORE STUFF!
Great shop. Lots of fun gifts and clothes. The head shop has a good variety of glass pieces. Good customer service too.
It’s an institution. Most of us have been visiting any time we drove past since we were kids. The locals who appreciate a bargain recognize it’s the place to get all things music, rarities, smoke shop things and unusual gifts for all. Carly, Ricky and Kirsten are always a pleasure to cross paths with.
Still the place to go for special gifts ,music tshirts posters
Great store!!!
They really try to rip you off on anything you bring in on trade or for sale. Don’t bring anything there of value. Their offer will be insulting.
