A hidden gem UPSTAIRS. Don’t miss it. Dave the owner is great, and talented. Patrick Gill is the PREMIER guitar TECH in the whole northwest CT region. He works miracles at a very fair price. Excellent teachers, Will for piano and keyboards and Mike for guitar and bass. Better check them out. I only trust my guitars to Dave and Patrick. Won’t go anywhere else. Seriously.
Woodbury Music is the best shop around of all of your instrument needs! The shop owner Dave, is both friendly & knowledgeable! I have gotten both common things done (fixing of saxophone keys) as well as unusual things done (fixing of a dulcimer bridge) and everyone has always been great! I have also taken lessons for almost three years now, and my teacher Mike is not only a dedicated teacher, but also a very talented professional. Stop by and check it out!
Great honest shop here. Had a great online interaction with Dave via email. Want to know why I trust them? Because they talked me out of a purchase. Ha! Thanks again!
2. Bethel Music Center – Instrument Sales, Rentals, Lessons and Repairs
Address: 273 Greenwood Ave #101, Bethel, CT 06801 , Vilaseca , Connecticut , United States
Great service! They make you feel appreciated and they actually care.
Where else? Where else in the Danbury/Bethel area can you get all the music, Muzak, musique y musica Stuff and Expertise at all levels and for all genres that you may need?! Where, I ask you. Go ahead, try and tell me. But don’t try to tell me you’ll find nicer, more helpful staff than Sarah and Sophia and Juan and… Don’t even.
Competitively priced, a wide variety of sheet music, and great lessons.
Instrument rentals are great for their prices
Good info from employees
Just stopped by quick. Had a great hour. They are the best
3. Westbury Music
Address: 686 Main St, Watertown, CT 06795 , Vilaseca , Connecticut , United States
My daughter took piano lessons from several places over the past few years. Her favorite of all the teachers was Pat at Westbury Music. She has a great formula that kept her engaged and not dreading her classes. Every week she looked forward to the lesson.
Very epic, I have gotten 3 instruments from there and the people that work their are very nice
Ordered instrument for my son, was told to pick up the next day, went the following day to pick it up and it wasn’t there. Also bought a box of reefs for the instrument and was given the wrong kind. The gentleman that waited on us was polite, although he didn’t recognize us even though we had just been in the day before!
Staff is very friendly and knowledgable.
excellent store, good Fender Selection, nice acoustics, lessons, and school instruments.
4. Music & Arts
Address: 907 Hartford Turnpike E11, Waterford, CT 06385 , Vilaseca , Connecticut , United States
I went in to buy a ukulele. Margo was friendly and knowledgeable.
Love it
I have been coming here for eight years now, and this place really feels like home. Wouldn’t go anywhere else for my music needs!
Music instructors are the best.
Good music instructors, great service and great staff.
This store usually has my sax needs.
No ukulele’s or song books for ukulele’s even thou they advertise that they have them.
they were nice and informative, but i returned something and they opted to send me a check. It’s been over a month and i still haven’t gotten my money back
Buyer beware!! They charge you for lessons in advance! Staff up front can be RUDE! They give you give you misinformation and it costs you!
5. Middlesex Music Academy
Address: 440 Main St, Middletown, CT 06457 , Vilaseca , Connecticut , United States
I needed small studio monitors for a Yamaha YDP 323, so that I could record it without wearing headphones. Matt recommended PreSonus Eris E4.5’s. What a great set of speakers! No hum or distortion and completely accurate. The price was also great, no more than online while shopping local. Great store, great staff. Thank you!
Highly recommend for instrument repairs. Staff was knowledgeable and helpful. Got my sax playing like new again for a very reasonable price in 4 days. I will be back here.
I’ve been a patron of the Middlesex Music Academy for over a decade. This is the place. THIS, is the place. If you’re looking for a tutor, repair or an expert opinion/guidance about music, THIS, is the place. You are not going to get the same care or interaction elsewhere; THIS, is the place.
For instances, their “repair guy” Joe Stereo, is the best. I have trusted him with my most beloved gear and he has treated my gear as if it were his own. He is aces. He’s always gone above beyond the call of duty in every conceivable way. Joe has worked on more than a dozen of my
instruments and I have never been dissatisfied in anyway.
Matt, the store proprietor, is a seasoned musician. He and his dedicated staff are generous with their knowledge and willing to work with anyone on any budget or otherwise to achieve their goals. I can’t say enough about this homegrown and beautiful establishment.
The bottom line, if you’re looking for a music store where you can build a lasting and worthwhile relationship with, then look no further than the Middlesex Music Academy. THIS, is the place.
The sales team made it possible for me to afford a piano for my son
I signed up for a piano lesson trial online. Their site is very confusing and it’s not clear if the lesson is in-person and online. I called them, left a message but they never called me back. In the day/time of the lesson, I called them 3 times because I was having problems to contact the teacher. The guy who works there, Jim, clearly doesn’t have any customer service skills. He was rude and unpleasant. He didn’t make any effort to help me, told me a was confused and nobody else had problems. I just canceled the future lessons there. It’s easier just hire a private piano teacher. Hopefully I will never have to deal with this guy again.
I paid $80 for a setup on a guitar and got it back with the strings a mile off of the neck and the floyd rose studs so high out of the body I could park a car under it. The bridge pickup was raised until it was practically touching the strings and the neck pickup was lowered to below the pickup ring. The tech then told me that 10-52 strings don’t exist. They’re light top heavy bottom and aren’t even uncommon strings. Every time I go there they give bad advice and clearly don’t know what they’re talking about. My friend tried to buy a tubescreamer (basic overdrive) and they tried to sell him a phaser instead (completely different thing).
I would give Middlesex Music Academy a 0 if I was able to. I called to inquire about a $150 charge when I haven‘t been confirmed by John the guitar teacher. I made a request to Matt that Tuesday was my preference but John was booked so he scheduled Thursday at 6pm. I received a text and email from John yesterday that he had a conflict for Thursday and offered Friday. I responded via text/email that would not work and inquired if this was temporary or permanent to which I did not receive a response. I let John know this may not be a good fit then. I called today to have the charge refunded and Jim proceeded to call me names, saying I was yelling & screaming over the phone and I was being rude. No need to go into the dramatics but Jim needs a lesson in manners, telling the truth and understanding that being a manager does not give him the authority to behave poorly. Never once did I raise my voice but did correct Jim several times throughout the conversation all because i asked for a refund. Extremely unprofessional and a bad look for Middlesex Music all around. I will be taking my business elsewhere. Inexcusable & theater worthy performance by Jim today folks!!!
6. The Music Score LLC
Address: 2315 Silas Deane Hwy, Rocky Hill, CT 06067 , Vilaseca , Connecticut , United States
Quality music school with a professional and trustworthy staff.
I didn’t come to purchase any thing but the employees were more than happy to show me their selection and teach me about the purpose of the parts on the guitars/bass.
Gil is a super friendly guy! My son really enjoys guitar lessons with him!
Very knowledgeable and friendly.
My daughter is signed up for lessons and her teacher is great (I hear the others are as well). Just try not to deal with the guy that owns it.
I tried to return my daughter’s Viola due to the school no longer providing classes. It was a total nightmare to get an answer in regards to my credit. They are very irresponsible and I am very disappointed by the lack of care towards my return which was even misplaced! Mom and dad are not helpful at all and he should really look at keeping them home, they make things worse!
Arrived at 10:00am (they open at 10am, but not today). I waited and they finally arrived. All I needed was guitar strings, but they had none. What a waste of time.
7. Sam Ash Music Stores
Address: 95 Amity Rd, New Haven, CT 06515 , Vilaseca , Connecticut , United States
One of my personal favorites as far as purchasing items for music. With an exceptionally well informed employees that can help with just about anything. They are located right off of the Merritt which is extremely convenient for easy access in and out.
It was a snow day And they were about the close Early when I called So they offered to ship the product to me I told them I was about 5 minutes away they waited for me and answered my questions When I got there Awesome customer service And pleasant attitudes
Helpful and knowledgeable employees. Great selection of drums. Will buy from again
Their selection of drum equipment, especially cymbals, is meager, but the staff is always great. There’s one guy in particular (in drums) that I love dealing with, and is one of the biggest reasons I keep coming back, despite the limited selection.
I was in a pinch. I needed a bass to cram some songs for a Monday rehearsal. I had a budget and they had me walking out with a bass that I didn’t have to hide from my girlfriend! They understood my budget and didn’t try to “upsell” me on a higher end model I couldn’t afford anyway. It was a quick close in and out. I didn’t tell them but I had just walked out of that “other store” because they started getting antsy about not me buying a bass that cost 3x more!
Always very knowledgeable and helpful!
the strings section is very little, and the person who is supposed to help is very unprofessional. didn’t even know what case size to use then decided that there wasn’t actually a case. don’t recommend for string instruments like violins
Bien
I called to find out if they had a certain amplifier. The salesperson told me everything “but” what I asked for. Lost a $1,000 sale.
8. Creative Music Center
Address: 701 Main St, Monroe, CT 06468 , Vilaseca , Connecticut , United States
My daughter loves her piano lessons at Creative Music Center.
Nice music store in Monroe, we bought a cute ukulele here!
The older guy really helped me with my guitar! He was so nice!
I just went to this store with my violin wanting the sound post set and to re-hair my bow. When I walked in there were two ladies at the counter. As I opened my case asking the the lady in the white turtle neck with straight brown hair if they re-hair bows? She snapped that they didn’t. The nice girl next to her chimed in as said out loud “She re-hairs bows?” Then the other lady gave a look and said I would need to buy a new one! She then picked up my violin and started to point out things about my only violin that were not good enough for her to re-set my sound post! I then asked “How much to just re-set the sound post?” She refused me service and said “Good Luck!” AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU CAN! I think I didn’t fit the “type” they prefer to give services to?
Terrible, definitely wouldn’t recommend it to anyone in this planet or another. I originally paid through Groupon just to see if the classes worked out for my son. I paid for 45 mins and they only gave me 30mins classes for my son ,that should of been the 1st red flag. But then they make you sign a paper and they ask you to put a credit card info even though I paid for the 1st month in full. So we tried that 1st month and decided it wasn’t for my son,he didn’t like it.so then I thought I was done with this establishment and they kept charging me even though I was done with them clearly, scammers.terrible customer service!
Came here with my son they were very rude to my son and not very knowledgeable… wouldn’t come back here again and don’t recommend it.
9. Guitar Hangar – Lessons, Rentals, Repairs, and More
Address: 270 Federal Rd # 7, Brookfield, CT 06804 , Vilaseca , Connecticut , United States
It’s the little things a local music can offer that matter. In-person testing, advice when you need it, good selection of “emergency” accessories, and as I can tell, well-equipped and skilled instrument repair. They also sell used items, which I found helpful. Gives me another reason to check on stock periodically. But the main difference that I personally enjoyed is the owner (Rick) was not pushy at all, very accommodating to let me test things out, and gave the space I need to enjoy the instruments in his shop. And that is really what a guitar shop should be. A place to get to know the feel of an instrument. My only pondering (not really a complaint), is they did not have any keyboard gear out and ready to try. But I would much rather enter a place that fills a specific niche really well, rather than try to be too many things poorly. For this choice to stick to their expertise, applaud them.
Excellent selection of instruments at great prices. Rick was really helpful and took his time to sort me out with trying a good few of them. Really recommendable.
Horrible service the owner ignored me when I asked to play
Make sure that you buy your merchandise from inside the store !! Do not get it from EBAY because you will end up with trash..
owner is arrogant. store is filthy. selection is limited. looks like the music section of a pawn shop.
10. Upton Bass String Instrument Co.
Address: 159 Packer Rd, Mystic, CT 06355 , Vilaseca , Connecticut , United States
Honest and tirelessly hard working…. a pleasure to deal with!!!!
Wicked awesome nice people
I am so glad to have connected with Eric and Felicia at Upton Bass. Feeling the bass love:)
Definitely should be a destination for all bassists!
I purchased a ply bass that had issues out the door. The geometries where all wrong (e.g., the neck was too thin and was not pitched to the back of the bass) and it had a buzz coming from the fingerboard and bridge setup. They were unable to resolve the buzzing sound and I took it it to a local luthier to have the problem resolved. I ended up donating the bass our school district and purchasing a Shen.
Also do not purchase bows from Upton. I purchased a $2000+ bow made by J.R. Silva, Brazil, which developed a splinter just above the frog within 6 months and Upton would not warrant the bow. I now have a $2000+ paperweight.
Update, 10/28/2023:
… as to your reply, yes, I initially thought this was a great bass until I started using it for rehearsals and the buzzing appeared. I thought it was something I was doing or even due to the new bow. I drove 4 hours one way to your location to have your staff address the buzzing issue and they shaved a high spot on the fingerboard near first position and the buzzing did not appear while I was there. When I returned home and started using the bass again for rehearsals the buzzing reappeared. I wasn’t about to drive an other 8 hours to give your staff a second chance at addressing this. Instead, I took it to a local luthier who fixed the buzzing through a combination of reshaping both the fingerboard and bridge (the bridge was set up for jazz, even though I had told your staff that I play mostly orchestral music). While working on my bass, the luthier pointed out the other issues that I mentioned in my review. I am not a luthier, so I would not have necessarily recognized these issues except that through pro-longed use I might have developed muscular issues.
It also wasn’t until your staff responded last week that they could not help me with the issues with my bow that I decided to post this. I don’t like to post negative comments, but I wanted to warn other potential customers of my experience. Your staff could not even help with how I might get in touch with Mr. Silva. If you sell someone’s product, I would think you would have some form of contact information. I spent a lot of money on this bow ($2000+) and NO I DID NOT CAUSE THIS SPLINTER TO APPEAR. I do not appreciate you implying so by your comment. Had your staff handled things differently, I would not have posted this review.
You, as an owner, could have handled this differently as well. You *could* have contacted me by phone about this, instead of responding to my review in the manner that you did, and I might have considered removing this review. You could have even contacted me directly before I posted this review, as several days had lapsed between my speaking with your staff and my posting this review. At this point, based on the content of your reply, I will not remove this review.
11. JC Music
Address: 529 W Main St, Meriden, CT 06451 , Vilaseca , Connecticut , United States
They have a range of teachers to learn music from! I’ve learned so much within the 2 years I’ve been there!
very knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly family owned music store
My 3 boys take piano lessons at JC Music and I have been pleased to see their growth not only in their technical skills but in their understanding of music theory and their enthusiasm to play. This is in no small part due to Brian’s instruction and also the twice a year recitals which give the boys something fun to prepare for. Additionally we have used JC music’s instrument rental program to get my son’s clarinet for school and found that process smooth and the instrument itself was in excellent shape. Nothing but good things to say about JC music.
My grandson really enjoyed the music lessons and they are very professional and knowledgeable. Highly recommend them.
Would like to obtain some nice brushes and some type of top hat set used and very sturdy since I break percussion instruments all the time when I perform?
My son, Roberto Luis and Rosa live in Meriden. Are you far from the mall? I have spent a lot of time jamming in Puerto Rico to salsa, merengue, etc but my favorite is funk like Buddy Miles.
This was a horrible expierence. They need to get their stuff together, they had already-sold instruments on shelf. They had an amazing guitar sale and when I went to buy, it was already sold! They got my hopes high and let it down and I will not give them my money any longer.
Completely disappointed. I placed an order in store on a instrument that was never placed with JC music. The customer service was poorly displayed and the options they gave us was not acceptable. I asked to speak to the owner several times and would not get on the phone and made his new employee talk to me. I ended up going somewhere else that was amazing
Never have any of the literature or instrument parts I’m looking for. Took 3 months to repair a trombone. I tried to return an item and they wouldn’t give me back the cash to go to another place. The owner has blatantly disrespected my mother on several occasions and doesn’t have much knowledge of much of anything outside of rock music. As far as i’m concerned, this is the worst music store i’ve ever set foot in and would not recommend to anybody.
12. George’s Music Center
Address: 905 New Harwinton Rd, Torrington, CT 06790 , Vilaseca , Connecticut , United States
Best guitar and amp. store I been to yet.
Owner George is the most knollegable guitar and amp. Dude I’ve ever met, that’s saying something since I’ve been a pro. guitarist for 51 years now.
He carries PRS. Suhr, and has MANY pre CBS. Fender amps as well carries Messa Boogie!!
Great guy, great store, what more do you need?
Norm Cote
Awesome place to get information and pick up an instrument! Thanks for the help!!
Nice shop
If you’re not looking to go too far to get musical instruments. Look no further. Expensive though. But if you don’t care about prices, go for it. Not much of a selection though.
Meh
This place is just awful. The owner is so rude to us that i will never go back. We rented an instrument from him because our normal music store didnt have the instrument and when the instrument broke he said it was our fault and that it wasnt covered and then bad mouthed our local music store.
After going to this place; I must say I will never go back there again. The owner is so rude and disrespectful. Its not even funny. The owner needs get off his anthropocentric state of mind.
13. Music & Arts
Address: 1863 Post Rd, Fairfield, CT 06824 , Vilaseca , Connecticut , United States
My son has been taking guitar lessons with Paul for about 6 months now, and we have been extremely pleased with his progress. Paul Fredericks is a great teacher. He has good rapport with his students and makes the lessons both fun and challenging. My son always looks forward to his lessons. We highly recommend him as a guitar teacher.
As a more “seasoned” student, I really did not know what to expect in taking lessons again after many years. Paul has been such a patient, fun and knowledgeable teacher that I always look forward to my classes. I love all kinds of music and Paul is always up for the challenge to adapt and help me learn and have fun at the same time.
Buena atencion
Thank you for your service n attention. Thank guys for helping me to pick the perfect gift for my wife.
Sales staff were not super knowledgable. We rented our son’s violin for school through them and billing was always an issue even though it was on monthly automatic payment. Glad the saga is over.
The prices are ok. The parking can be tough. The person working the desk was dismissive of my questions. Not a lot of inventory on display. They seem more about instruction.
WARNING! WARNING TO PARENTS!! DO NOT USE THIS SHOP FOR RENTALS! Should be ZERO stars.
We rented from here for 5 years, the first 4 went off without a hitch. This year has been an absolute nightmare. We rented two instruments, same address, same name, same payment. ONE account had no issues, the other the local store put in the wrong address (where we have never lived). Over the last 4 months I have called their headquarters, left messages, emails, etc. trying to get a paper bill MAILED so that I could pay whatever was owed. They were incapable of sending this, and every time I called in could not even find the right account or would tell me everything was fine and they did not know why I was being contacted. When asked why they could not have looked at our other rental account for the correct information they were stunned into silence. Absolute incompetency from the sales staff all the way up to the billing department supervisor who assigned our missing “account” to a collections agency and then gave us the WRONG agency. Save yourself the trouble and stay far, far away from here.
Don’t rent any instrument from this place. People are very rude. Calling customer service takes forever to get someone on the phone. Unfriendly customer service, supervisors don’t want to talk to customers. Find another place to rent instruments for your children.
Very bad and rude customer service, hang up my phone.
14. Guitar Center
Address: 50 Boston Post Rd, Orange, CT 06477 , Vilaseca , Connecticut , United States
They always make you feel welcomed here. Knowledgeable staff who help you perfectly.
Super ,, this store are the best ,,,
Amazing
Good knowledgeable staff
Good attention…
Very cold in the store…how can they turn the heat down so low overnight that all instruments, specials guitars, made from wood get so cold the necks shrink real bad causing all the frets to stick out…bad way yo handle instruments!!!
These guys just thwarted THE CRIME OF THE CENTURY!
I attempted to return/exchange a 12 pack of Fender Medium guitar picks because I use Heavy. Just an even exchange — I did not have the receipt but I figured it would be no biggie. Not at this store!!! No way, Jose! I thought I could get away with a fast one but these guys are SUPER SHARP (and they know I can only get these at about a million other places). I’m lucky to have sped away before the SWAT Team showed up.
Maybe when they go bankrupt, I’ll bid on some lots of Fender guitar picks, just for schadenfreude. (Of course, I am required to give at least one-star so I will make the worn-out statement that they don’t even deserve that.) Now, onto amazon.com!
(UPDATE: These guys can’t even get my name right! In an email, they apologized for the “typo” but they have not corrected it, which leads me to believe it was NEVER a typo to begin with! Avoid this chain and buy local!)
A little over yr ago I had ordered a vintage guitar online from guitar center and it was shipped professionally done. I thought that was the Guitar Center Standard so I decided to purchase an other one. The next purchase came from this location and all I can say people ship $2 LP’s with more responsibility and care than these guys did with shipping a 1967 Vox Super Lynx Deluxe.
This place is a mess. It’s in total disarray. They really need to clean the place up.
15. Giuliano’s Music
Address: 406 Westport Ave, Norwalk, CT 06850 , Vilaseca , Connecticut , United States
Robert Balestra is a gifted luthier repairman for all things with 4, 6 or 12 strings. Johnny Winter, Ace Frehley and Grammy Award winning guitarist/producer Paul Nelson. Great staff & service. Lessons available
Amazing store with an amazing selection and extremely helpful staff. very satisfied.
Awesome little shop. My favorite bass hadn’t had a proper set up in 14 years. I dropped it off with Bobby and he worked his magic on it. It plays better than it did when I first bought it. Definitely my go-to place for instrument repairs now.
Good service, very nice staff and management!
I went needing a pack of guitar strings to find out that they were closed. Their hours online say 12-4 on Saturday. Their door said the same. Lights off no one answered the phone. The time I went you ask? 3:25. EDIT:I have since gone back and they have been very nice and kind. Which has let me to update my rating.
Everyone was insanely helpful from who I spoke to on the phone for customer support, to the guy that helped me out when I came to pick up the amp in store. Giuliano’s Music takes care of its customers. Will definitely be returning for anything else I need in the future.
16. Windsor Music Centre
Address: 95 Poquonock Ave, Windsor, CT 06095 , Vilaseca , Connecticut , United States
Very helpful and patient. Went to do an instrument rental and they sized everything and had all the necessary items in stock. Happy to support a local music store!
Genuine
I went into this store this week. Sal, the owner is one of the one puff the midst pleasant people I’ve ever met. Great music store.
Nice guy and great service so far!
It’s okay.
Rented a violin during 2012/2013 school year. Throughout the school year violin needed numerous repairs, therefore, I did not rent from them the following school year. Low and behold as reviewing my bank statements I noted a monthly charge from them. Upon calling and speaking with “Joe” I was told that even though the violin was never returned to me after the last repair, I did not officially return the violin. and the charges can not be or won’t be refunded. Duly note that the violin is and has been with them since June of 2013 and the owner acknowledged this fact. I now know why they were not listed as a rental place by the school system. I would never buy from them again or refer any business their way.
Not bad.
My grandma brought two ukuleles here to be repaired before she passed away. They were from the 1940s and held a lot of sentimental value for me, as they were the first instrument I ever learned to play on. After she passed away, a family member went to retrieve them and the store conveniently had “no record” of them. Scammers and low lifes.
17. Music Outlet
Address: 151 Hazard Ave Suite 14, Enfield, CT 06082 , Vilaseca , Connecticut , United States
Still standing, one of the few music stores left, good prices, tons of used CDs and DVDs. Also a decent collection of LPs. Plenty of parking, too.
First things first….The owner is an awesome guy…I love the overall vibe in there…I have been going to Music Outlet before he was located on Hazard Ave where he is now . They can order just about anything you want. Support local !..Shop local ! especially when it comes to Music !
Good old fashion “record” store, complete with posters, cd’s, 45’s, magazines new & used to browse. I would have rated it 5 but I hated the music the helpful store clerk was playing!
Good selection at fair prices
Little bit of every genre in this music store. CDs, Vinyl, and even some Blu Ray’s and DVDs.
This isnt a music store. I am a professional guitarist, and was looking for a local place to buy another guitar. This is a RECORD store, the ideas cool but I think the name is miss leading. Its definitely not a music outlet, should be called record outlet.
Someone said “best indie cd store around” which is a real stretch. Not a whole lot of indie in my experience. Mostly boomer rock and playing it safe mainstream stuff. It may not be your cup of tea but if you own a record store and don’t carry at least one King Gizzard record then you aren’t really tapped into what is current and what sells.
18. The Music Shop
Address: 405 Queen St, Southington, CT 06489 , Vilaseca , Connecticut , United States
I’ve taken several guitars and basses here for setup and parts installation. The work is always top notch and they stand by it if something happens to go wrong. I’ve known Scott since I first picked up a guitar when they were at Caldor plaza (now Walmart). He actually helped my mom and I pick it out. I took lessons at the shop with an instructor named Mark right after that purchase. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone.
These guys helped me get the perfect Christmas gift. The staff was helpful, knowledgeable, and pleasant to work with.
Been going to this store for over 20 years. Great service, friendly staff and they do the best repairs around. Scott is very knowledgeable and always takes the extra time to help you out. Prices are great as well. There’s a reason they are still around in a time of superstores and online shopping.
The cellos were in not in good shape and we had to pay a luthiere to redo repairs that were poorly done when we received the instrument.
Great place but website could be better such as pics of some used equipment. I’m a drummer and would like to see what they have for new and used cymbals, stands, drum kits etc. And prices. I have done business with them and always had a great experience the reason for three stars is the website doesn’t do the music shop justice. All and all great store great people.
19. Music & Arts
Address: 50 Main St, East Hartford, CT 06118 , Vilaseca , Connecticut , United States
I have spent a lot of time at this store with my kids. All three kids play different instruments, which means I’m at the music store constantly. Each time I go in, I am more impressed than that last. The staff are courteous, and very helpful. They are informative, and help guide me to the best option, yet never pushy on sales. They are very knowledgeable. I can’t say enough nice things about this store. I am thoroughly impressed.
Very nice and knowledgeable staff. They always hook me up with the best equipment. Deffinatley my go to store for anything music related.
Handsome staff and excellent service. I’ve been using this music and arts for over a decade and wouldn’t recommend anywhere else.
Cool place, very expensive
Good selection and price
I went to the store 7:45 pm because I need to rent an instrument. I’ve been waiting because the employee was helping another customer. Then, when it was my turn he said : I can’t help you because we close at 8 come back tomorrow. While I was waiting I saw another employee he just looking at us and he didn’t of help us.The worst customer service I ever experienced.
This store was not respectful of my time or my commitment, and I cannot recommend this business to others. As busy professional with children making the commitment to return to regular practice was a significant dedication of my time. After discussions with the staff at the store we found a time and an instructor who would work for me, and with my schedule. At my first lesson the instructor was surprised to see me (although my name was on his list) and I said “I didn’t know a new student was starting today.” and “I don’t really play Bass that much…”. After a lackluster lesson which I was willing to write off as a miscommunication, I returned a week later only to find that the instructor had scheduled over my time with a different student. The staff confirmed I was on the schedule for the day. I promptly asked for my money back, including the new student fee. The manager kindly returned it, but that was the ONLY redeeming thing about my experience. All in all, this wasted about 2 hours of my life.
Rented a saxaphone for 2 years. Summers were free. Returned the sax in the fall and was charged for the summer. 300$ which is the yearly rate. No notification or change of contract. Its a scam. Free summers not part of the contract, just a gift to you until you return it. Hours spent on hold to corporate as the local manager has no power.

Josh and Jeff were EXTREMELY helpful, friendly, knowledgeable and patient!
I had to call a few times regarding instrument rental. They both knew exactly what I needed–when I had no clue–and were very accommodating to my needs.
THANKS VERY MUCH!
Grant did a great job assisting in a keyboard purchase.
