Todd is an expert in every aspect of music be it sound, installation, lessons, recording or gear! Great shop and a genuine concern for his customers!
Todd hit a grand slam for us. We have a young man in grade school who had his heart set on a specific acoustic guitar that was out of stock everywhere, including this store, or so it was suspected for a moment when I called to confirm. But Todd gave it some more thought and realized he happened to have ONE LEFT! It is likely this make/model/color guitar was the last new one available in all of North America until next spring. And MEGA MUSIC HAD IT! They promptly shipped it off well-packed, and it arrived safely with no damage whatsoever. Todd and his staff made two families very happy and a child’s Christmas extra special.
Todd and his crew do a great job with helping you pick the right instrument for your needs. They have the best prices and also the best support you’ll find anywhere. My daughter and I have done guitar lessons with them for years. Any of your music needs will be taken care of. They will bend over backwards to help you with anything you may need including installation of new sound systems and things like that.
Awaome people to deal with!!!!
Update: Have been dealing with Todd and his store (Mega Music) for a few years now… This man is my go to guy… PERIOD…. Took my Jackson JS32 to him because it wouldn’t stay in tune.. He did a killer job setting it up… 100% perfect now!!!
Good selection and everything a musician needs. Only store in town that I would trust with my equipment. He’s got it
Kinda high priced but ok selection and kinda rude most of the time I come in not sure why anywayz
Called today to query as to consignment of some drums & hardware. The owner was rude, crude, combative, and totally unprofessional. His customer service is non-existent, and his know it all attitude extremely unprofessional. Never again, not sure how he’s still in business, must be the only game in town.
I went in to the store today to ask about getting my son’s saxophone fixed or buy a new one I had mentioned it had been taken to another music store in the past and had purchased parts online so he had the full information about the instrument and he started going off on me and being very nasty about my past choices. Made not only me but my son very uncomfortable. Stated that customers are people who spend dollars at his store which I was trying to be one but after the costumer services I recieved I would not recommend
Todd Allen the owner jipped me. He sold me a keyboard that was faulty. Then didn’t let me have a new power cord to it when that’s all that was wrong. Now I am stuck with two keyboards and really no way to hook up the second one. Plus he won’t give me credit for the old one. Do not go there.
3. Roundup Music Co
Address: 219 N 10th Ave, Sterling, CO 80751 , Washington County , Colorado , United States
Drove 430 miles to Flagler to pick up my new Discovery, rather than have it shipped to me. I’m so glad I did. Got to meet the Mullen Crew and see how the guitars are built. They take great pride in what they do, and now I’m proud to be a Mullen owner. Great People! Thank You.
#1 on my book !
Enjoyed seeing where the Mullen guitar is made.
5. Kc’s Tapes & Cd’s
Address: 322 Main St, Sterling, CO 80751 , Washington County , Colorado , United States
Very interesting selection of music, media, toys, games, electronics, and instruments. Helpful staff (possibly owner?). I very much enjoyed my time in this special store. Thank you!
This is most definitely my favorite shop In Sterling! I don’t really have friends who would enjoy it as much as I do but I still love it nonetheless. I could probably look at all the different tapes, Cds, and records for hours and spend all of my money here if I had the chance! The owner is extremely nice and is very willing to help you find what you are looking for! I will absolutely continue to go here for however much longer I live here!
Great selection of music and sound equipment.
Always a good place to go in and find something that you had in your past music wise and if he doesn’t have it he will order it for you prices are very reasonable love this little store!
Broad selection from tapes, cds, to records and video games. Records are extremely overpriced, about 5x fair value. Owner doesn’t understand running a business and is trying to overprice to make up for lack of sales. As a result won’t do trade ins. Poorly run record store, go to the front range
Junkie
There was no experience. The hours are open at 11am. Theres a paper sign saying they will open at 12 today. I show up at 12:10 and closed with no lights on. Go local? Best Buy wouldnt have that problem. Nor Amazon
6. Redbox
Address: 152 E 1st St, Akron, CO 80720 , Washington County , Colorado , United States
Ordered a used Tama Starclassic kit. Scott was prompt in answering my emails. The drums arrived on schedule and undamaged. Excellent service.
Had the pleasure of dealing with Auguste and Nate this weekend.
Was interested in a bass they were selling but needed international shipping arranged. The fellas dealt with this quickly,I’d say 24 hours from my first email to me paying is a record. Prompt replies to emails, sorted an easy method of payment for me.
Wished I lived local as this would be my go to store.
Just a great experience all round.
Heartfelt Thanks from Scotland.
The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Prices were great. Will definitely go back.
Staff is a great bunch of guys who have a grasp of what’s what about musical instruments. It used to be a good place to sell your used appointment. I would give you a a decent price but nowadays they won’t even give you a price better than what a pawn shop will give you. I’ve noticed in last couple of years their prices have gone up. They don’t negotiate the prices, which puts customer at a disadvantage Because condition is a huge part in what you pay. I will still stop in and check their inventory. But not as often as I used to.
Great shop! You can expect to pay a little more than average for used fear here, but they are VERY thorough with inspections before they buy. You can trust you will get good gear. Use as a last resort for selling though. They will give you next to nothing for your used gear. They have to make money right. Overall, staff is very friendly and helpful and new gear rolls in pretty consistently which is good and bad news for those of us with incorrigible G.A.S.
Very knowledgable and helpful
Was just in the store upgrading my daughters amp not realizing you close at 4pm. Innocently thought you were open till 5 atleast like most places. Besides the miss understanding with hours. You don’t turn off the lights on your customers while they’re about to make a purchase. I come here alot and have always been treated with respect. But turning the lights out on us was a pretty low and rude move. Basically felt like you were all saying FU to us!
If you can play or sing in front of an audience you should atleast have the confidence to make an announcement that you’re about to close ahholes!
What a scam. Very unfriendly staff, no customer service skills at all
for a used store the prices are outrageous
9. Monkton Guitars
Address: 1505 W 1st Ave A, Broomfield, CO 80020 , Washington County , Colorado , United States
Every time I visit to purchase strings and gear, David treats me and my son well. We geek out on acoustics and love test driving his rotation of instruments, and Dave never complains. Also have used their service for install of modified gear and have had a great experience!
Friendly, knowledgeable, and trustworthy with reasonable pricing.
Fixed my PRS SE tuning issues in less than an hour of time worked! This place charged me considerably less than the other local stores would have, but most importantly, they did a FANTASTIC job. Monkton guitars has won me over as a customer. Support your local small business, choose Monkton!
great place to try and buy, they know their stuff and are super nice and willing to help you find what you’re looking for. they have great recommendations and will let you play whatever for however long. very cheap for repairs and guitar work, much cheaper than other places. got my frets leveled/crowned and it sounds fantastic, however they did kind of gauge/scratch the neck on several frets. sucks, but not a huge deal as it’s not a high end guitar and the price was right ($60). again, sounds great but i would be weary of bringing a higher end model in as they weren’t very careful about taping off the neck to avoid cosmetic damage.
Best shop around!
do not take your guitars here for repair! simple jobs will end up being 2 hours in labor charges. they will take your working guitar and send you home with a non-working guitar. they will mix up the wiring on the pots. they will give you pots too large so your knobs have a huge gap underneath. unbelievably unprofessional and incapable.
EDIT: The business response is not a fair respresentation. First guitar, volume pots wired backwards. Second guitar, repair only lasted the car ride home. Second fix only lasted the next car ride home. Third fix, incorrect tone mapping and too large of pots. Every single trip a problem. Why would I go back?
10. Affordable Music
Address: 104 Village Pl, Dillon, CO 80435 , Washington County , Colorado , United States
Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Fair prices.
Went in today, and was super impressed. Definitely some gems in there if you actually go through the records. I found some, that I’ve been trying to find for years in Denver. Small place, but I’d go here, over any place in the city.
Gary is great. Always helping out the local musicians . Thanks Gary
I’ve heard good things about it but I was upstairs at pug Ryan’s bar
Surprisingly good 45 selection.
Great store, lots of music, plenty of stringed instruments.
Sells broken products. Very expensive.
A shambles. Nothing affordable. Maybe okay for guitars, but not music. Looks like a yard sale gone bad. Used vinyl is poor quality, C- vinyl and covers disorganized and twice the price of Denver. Boxes of unsorted records strewn about. New stuff is full list price. Not worth the effort of stopping. Waste of time
Terrible customer service. Was out of town for a wedding – asked about return policy and he went on a rant about him being a small business and how he would only give store credit. He was very condescending and unprofessional
11. Music & Arts
Address: 7421 W Bowles Ave Suite 12, Littleton, CO 80123 , Washington County , Colorado , United States
Music & Arts Littleton rocks!
Very well thought selection of musical instruments and accessories here!
Even better is their service. I came in needing something that was not in stock, instead of just saying no, Hope (associate’s name) took it upon herself to locate the item at another branch and had it sent to this store, I received a call a couple days later and went down to pick it up. It is nice to have great service like this whatever the size of the store. I will return to Music & Arts in Littleton the next time I need anything musical.
Great store and service.
I came in several times to ask questions and get ideas about guitar prices. I’m not a musician myself but wanted to buy a new one for my husband who is. Every time I came in everyone was more than happy to answer my questions. Today I finally bought one of the guitars (A yamaha electric-acoustic) on a great sale after seeing it a higher price last week and my husband was overjoyed. Thank you to everyone at this location for being so willing to help me where i was obviously clueless and give my husband a great surprise!
This is one of the best music store around the neighborhood. They even sale old music records and they also give lessons.
Low guitar selection. Great for beginners, but not top choice for a seasoned player.
They have a bunch of guitar paraphernalia, some keyboard, brass, and clarinet stuff, but nothing for oboe.
It’s gone from good to not-so-good. The selection is small and the staff is non-interested.
If only 0 stars was an option. That is what this place deserves. Rented a sax for 3 years, it was stolen at 2 years. We had insurance on it so no big deal. This place did not tell us that they opened up a new account for the new sax which killed our 2 years with of credits.
Today we called to see what we could use our credits on and they told us we could apply it a piano, great that’s what we want. Get to the store and the children working that day says that is not true.
From day one this place gives mixed messages. Don’t waste your money here, everything is overpriced. Buy an instrument outright from somewhere reputable.
Way to take advantage of parents who want to get their kids into music. Shame on you and your business of swindling people.
These people waisted my time and lied to me saying they have no strings what do ever, but I was literally in there like 2 hours before that and they were overloaded with strings. Maybe tell the truth. It will save you from bad reviews such as this one
12. Castle Rock Music
Address: 429 Wilcox St, Castle Rock, CO 80104 , Washington County , Colorado , United States
The first and the last requirement of a man can be fulfilled overwhelmingly in a place called Castle Rock near CO-Springs; U.S.A.
Jason Bower is doing a great job for music in the community. Castle Rock Music is a great place to take your kids and get them excited about leant I Music!
Awesome service. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Little pricey tho
It says castle rock band store but it’s more of a Guitar store there’s no other instruments.
I don’t see why many people are giving this place bad reviews, as I have good experience with it. I take guitar lessons here and the mentors are nice. I do feel a tinge of hostility towards me from the front desk workers, but they do seem approachable. I’ve never gone through a repair before with them, but that’s because I’ve never broken a guitar. If it weren’t from the tiny bit of hostility from the workers I would’ve given this place a five, in my experience and work with them.
Singing lessons for our daughter is wonderful. The process is good, prices are acceptable, and the venue is nice.
The shop itself is cute and quaint, but the selection is only very low end. Nothing of value at all. Not even cheap name brand equipment, but just low end non-name brand stuff. No biggie I guess, and I’m sure their selection is ideal for what they’re going for, but you would think at least one Fender or Les Paul would be in there. Haha! Nope. I’m speaking about guitar/bass/amp selection.
Overall, a good place and great for kids or first time people.
The selection of instruments is limited to a few obscure brands and all of the staff is passive aggressive and rude. I’ve been there three times and regret it every time. I’m done.
One of my students took his trumpet to be repaired there because it wasn’t actually changing notes, no clue what work they charged for, but they somehow missed the giant crack in the lead pipe! Not impressed at all.
I’ve only been there once to get cork grease, quick easy purchase (reason for two stars instead of one).
Went to pick up my boyfriend’s mandaline just now. I don’t appreciate being interrogated through petty attempts of guilt.
“I’m so surprised your nice in person, you left such a scathing review.”
I don’t like you guys. It took 6 months and 3 calls from me before I got any update on this instrument. “We tried to call” … ‘In the last month.’ was conveniently what you left off, and I’m annoyed at the audacity that you couldn’t take a review I didn’t even write and decided to confront me about it like I’m the misinformed idiot.
I wasn’t going to say anything, but maybe next time you’ll learn to shut your mouth and keep some business.
UPDATE: The cost of the repair was $10 and they gave the mandolin back to me in about a week and he did it for free because of my interaction at Castle Rock Music. Every expert I talked to had a suggestion. 3D print the piece for a temporary fix, find a junk mandoline and scavenge, or just give it to someone who knows what they’re doing, etc… Not a single person said the fix was too expensive or hard. And I didn’t get an awkward talking to when I went to pick it up. Amazing.
13. Meeker Music Inc
Address: 624 N Tejon St, Colorado Springs, CO 80903 , Washington County , Colorado , United States
I have used meeker for YEARS. The people are friendly and kind. My son’s band teacher loves this place as well.
Great place for instruments!
Needed a simple repair to my daughter’s saxophone, in and out in no time
Good selection of disney and movie music
Ok nothing dif. Reservations ,really?
Nice staff, good selection of basics. If your looking for high school band stuff you’re good hardcore rock or band not so much.
Save yourself. Don’t go when busy. Their service model is first in first out on a waitlist…I waited 55 minutes to buy a $7 item. No one working the register, just all clerks working rentals…no help for those just wanting to buy a quick item. Good luck.
Over this place and their terrible customer service. There staff is so unfriendly and lazy. After 5 years of patience with their staff, I can’t handle it anymore.
We needed a larger instrument and the lady tried to say we would be fine with the size down. When we explained that our daughter’s teacher said she needed the larger size, she was upset because she had to go upstairs for it. I’m not even joking.
Not only that, we were given an instrument with a broken case because they didn’t have a proper one on hand. They suggest I sew it myself. They later replaced it after that one broke and I had to follow up on the previous replacement.
Any time we’ve been in the store, we have been greeted with ignorance and rude attitudes. I won’t even get into the recent situation but I have had it and will never rent or purchase from meeker music again. What a terrible establishment.
Been using Meeker since 1997 & four children all having played band instruments. This was the first time that the staff was incredibly rude. Very disappointed.
14. Main Street Music
Address: 609 Main St, Windsor, CO 80550 , Washington County , Colorado , United States

All of these teachers are an amazing in each of there own special way so if you want to learn music come on down because you will have an amazing time.
Great instruction, and very convenient to be able to bring all of the kids to piano lessons at the same time!
Adina is a very good teacher, patient, creative, fun and so knowledgable. I am an older adult student who has been taking voice and music therory lessons.
I am very pleased with how much I am learning and the improvement I am making as a singer.
Very helpful with new violin and restringing. Tried lessons and decided not to continue there. No progress in lessons over 5 weeks at $90. You might have a better experience but we would not choose them again.
I went in today to check the place out. The woman working looked at me like I was crazy. I had no help with anything. Awful place to send children or anyone for music lessons.
15. Music Go Round Colorado Springs
Address: 410 W Fillmore St, Colorado Springs, CO 80907 , Washington County , Colorado , United States
I bought a pedal from guitar center a while back never used it much but it is a high quality pedal. I needed some cash for my daughters birthday so I decided to sell it. I took it back to the store I bought it from (guitar center) and they offered me the lowest possible amount they could give. They have options, they didnt even offer a higher percentage for store credit?! I spend a decent amount each year on gear, I should be a valuable customer. Not at guitar center. Thats ok because I then went to Music Go Round. They gave me what I wanted. They understand Ill be back to spend money at their store. Thanks Music Go Round!!! You helped make a two year olds birthday party awesome!!!
Shane Hill
Max, the resident guitar tech, is the man. He does awesome work at a great price. I love the store as well- lots of cool gear for great prices. The dudes who run the shop are always available and super cool, even though I don’t spend as much money here as I’d like to. This is my favorite music store in the Springs.
These guys are very knowledgeable I love the store
Found a great new guitar staff help and answered questions and I was in and out.
Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They are quick to do research if they arent sure of their answer.
I bought a great used amp there, and had an employee show me how it sounded by playing thru it. The guys there are great to deal with, and the owner allowed me the time to make a decision without being pushy!
This place is kinda over priced but they have a decent selection of used guitars
Bought a mpc for 200 a month ago, went to trade it in and they offered so little and said they would resell it for 150. So I got ripped off a month ago barely used the item . Used to be a awesome spot to trade old gear but I’ll just sell it myself and get more.. super disappointing will not buy here again. To think I recommended this place to so many fellow musicians
