Picked up my online order, interested in the lessons they offer for Guitar. I’ll be back again.
Excellent place to visit ! An excellent place to buy a new guitar or instrument. I’ve been a customer for 23 years something like that I believe Derek
My son likes this place
They try. For whatever reason the inventory is pitifully low and communication between employees on what product is on the floor is laughable. I’ve never had a problem with any of the employees. Each of them individually are friendly and knowledgeable about services and product. The problem comes from higher up, I believe. The shift workers seem to want to help but the resources are limited and so chaotic. We had a guitar serviced and was charged an Express fee despite the face the technician was on vacation and didnt even start on it for days. A few weeks later we went in for an amp. The poor guy trying to help clearly was embarassed by the fact half of what was on display they didnt have parts for or was out of stock and would have to be ordered. Being as Bakersfield has limited music stores one would think upper management would keep up inventory and offer lower management and shift employees more support. They’d have higher sales. At least from my family and families like mine who are pressed for time and just want to buy from brick and mortar and not be directed to the website. I could have done that from home.
Kudos to the poor guys trying their best with what they have.
Love to go in there…but the prices are ridiculous.
This store has the worst customer service of any music store I have ever experienced. The employees sit around playing music or play on their phones, and do not wish to help you. Just yesterday one of them even had the nerve to ask me what I needed before I could even walk in the store. He did not even allow me to look around and shop as he wanted to close the store early. I am definitely done shopping here.
They have great equipment, but horrible customer service. Seems like they hate their job and are forced to help you. I was looking for help and the associates were sitting around playing guitars, after 10 min one of the managers calls an associate over. As I was asking questions the associate kept rolling his eyes but once he seen I had a guitar center credit card and the guitar I was interested in he changed his attitude real quick. Needless to say I walked out and bought my guitar with the local competitor, also cut my guitar center credit card. This is my 3 bad experience in this location and my last.
Wow, these guys are idiots there. Well maybe that’s unfair to say, they could have just been really high which led to them being unable to answer any questions about anything. Talked to 3 different people and none of them could formulate a full thought. This place has really gone downhill and the store is pretty dirty, brand new equipment is beat to hell. If you can find a different place I would.
2. California Keyboards Music Center
Address: 2408 Brundage Ln, Bakersfield, CA 93304 , Weedpatch , California , United States
Had the most wonderful experience in piano tuning!!! Ed was so knowledgeable about our Piano which happens to be Petrof a European piano and tuned and voiced it beautifully, gave me goose bumps just to be able to listen to the piano in tune and voiced perfectly!!! It was a pleasure for me to have you give my piano it’s voice again blessings and thank you
Customer service is awesome! I received so much advice from them and they are always kind.
I like de instrument
Those who feel they got screwed most likely feel that way with many other businesses…choosing a trumpet or tuba, etc is solid evidence
Great service. Instructors terrific. Friendly family run place.
Buena atención con sus clientes y familiar.
Service is bad. Called in a day early for a part and they told me to come in the next day they said they didn’t have it because of a “mix up”. My band grade is dropping since I can’t practice without the part I need.
Beware of the rental charges. It is not rent to own. When you have earned enough “rental credits” to actually own the instrument, they will not let you know that and will continue to charge a monthly rental fee. I paid an additional $280 for my son’s clarinet before I called to check the balance of what I owed. It was an auto-pay from my CC and I should have paid closer attention. That is my fault but I think it’s pretty damn sketchy of California Keyboards to run their business this way. I will be letting my music director friends know about this practice.
Rented a trumpet for my son’s lessons at school for 2 years in the rent to own program. Called in two times to check balances and see if we were almost paid off since I never actually received a receipt for direct deposits. When I called they would give me balance info and options. Just called today because I knew it should be paid off by now. Then big surprise! Rent to own will let you keep making payments over the value of the instrument and you can “rent forever” without them contacting you to sign over the instrument. It is up to you to follow up and get the instrument signed over , that you already paid for. How this can be called a rent to own service is beyond me. I ended up paying over $100 more of the value of the instrument. The company would have have continued charging me if I didn’t check in. My fault for thinking this was a service that had a system that didn’t rely on their customers oversights.
3. La Jaula Music
Address: 2105 Edison Hwy, Bakersfield, CA 93305 , Weedpatch , California , United States
I love this store. Not only are the people there friendly and helpful, most of the prices are a good deal here too! There was only one item I can think of that I bought that wasn’t wonderful, and after talking to the Carlos, His gave me a great deal on it. I don’t know what else you can ask for in a music store. They’re friendly and the have great gear and good prices.
These guys came to us personally to discuss what we needed. They worked with us on a price and even found cheaper options that would work better for us than what we thought we needed. They genuinely love what they do and it shows. Thanks again!
-Dan and the family
Love the people that work here. I’m not an audio expert, I was just looking for a good starter guitar and they went above and beyond to find something for me. I ended up deciding on this Yamaha guitar for a really good price. Whether you’re looking for starter products or professional help you can’t go wrong with them!
5. Front Porch Music
Address: 1711 19th St, Bakersfield, CA 93301 , Weedpatch , California , United States
Best music store in the area. Customers from around the world. Check the open hours, closed Sunday and Monday.
Its was awesome today the guitar store workers were super nice amazing guitars and everything a real musician needs
Small
Went by for some guitar strings and a winder. Was helped by gentleman in the shop. Seemed helpful enough. The place has been around for a looooong time. Kind of an icon of downtown local business. Shop looks like it always has. They need a neon sign.
All the equipment is great. It was like a museum in there too. AWESOME
Bought used amp from them online, it arrived poorly packed, and immediately had problems with microphonic tube noise. They were supposed to overnight new tubes to me, but the guy on chat literally said that his boss took the tracking number home. Like they didn’t use computers?! In their chats they never identify themselves personally, so I didn’t know who I was talking to. They said just pack it up and we’ll refund your money… they finally did, but not return shipping. And then they just stopped responding to my texts at all. Very disorganized and disrespectful. Do not do business with them online, you’ll get the runaround.
Went into this place to buy my first guitar back in 1999, I did. They ripped me off and took advantage. But oh well, I guess kids are easy targets. But the thing that really got me was when I asked to mess around on a boogie they had about a year layer, they sent some kid over “so I wouldn’t break it” and that is why they haven’t got a dime more from me. Owner said that too. Being treated like that left a bad taste in my mouth. Could have earned a few grand off me easily if you knew how to treat people
Somebody said boys club I totally agree. They follow you around like you’re a thief. They don’t give you a chance to browse, and they’re pretty rude.
Bakersfield Sound Co is the place to go for both instruments and lessons. The owner and staff are all attentive and knowledgeable. They go out of their way to answer your questions and meet your needs. Amazing place!
Update: Still an amazing place! They are a wonderful group of humans who love what they do.
A great local music store offering musical instruments, sound gear, accessories, and repairs / instrument setup at a reasonable price. They also offer music lessons. Excellent, personable service with a knowledgeable, friendly staff.
The absolute best of the best. I moved out of town but sometimes make the 4 hour drive cause this is the best shop I’ve ever been to.
Great clean place. I would like to return a saxophone I rented for my daughter, who can I contact during this shutdown?
My daughter is renting a violin for school so that’s all I’ve delt with in the store, buuuut they do have great customer service.
Good prices
Called these guys and talked to someone for about 15 mins about selling some audio equipment, and was confirmed that they purchase out rite and was even asked what I was trying to do with everything and I said I’m trying to sale it to pay some bills and he said ok gotcha bring it over tomorrow, then I get there and they act like they don’t know what I’m talking about and told me they don’t purchase items for cash. Employees gave me wrong info
I went today for my first time and loved it man these guys are awesome I recommend these to everyone
Guy with shaggy hair and tall is very rude, think is name was Arron or something,
Pretty awesome, just needed guitar strings. They also rent out instruments so I thought that was pretty cool.
Great service, friendly and helpful staff, and good prices. What more could you ask for?!
Customer service is great. They’re experts so whatever you’re asking they know what you need. They’re all very professional, courteous, and most of all attentive. I had came in for my daughter to get her very first violin. They explained all the necessities she needed required for her school specifically. They weren’t trying to sell more than what was needed. They’re overall hands down a go to place. Love it!
They were good when they first opened in Bakersfield. Now… After nearly 4 months of waiting, half of my instrument repairs are coming back. Great company as long as you aren’t expecting anything timely.
Although I will say they are helpful and polite inside the store, I’m rating them a 2 because they promised a part that I ordered almost a month ago would only take 7-10 days to come in. It has now been over 25 days and it’s still not in stock. I finally decided to order it on amazon and I will get it tomorrow.
They have everything you need there, movies, albums, kpop, i recommend you guys to go there.
I just bought a Monsta x album there today :’)
Good stuff from toys to movies and clothes
Good movies & music
This is a fun store to walk around and enjoy nostalgic and modern items at the same time. The merchandise selection and pricing is fairly good and you can find rare items here. The store itself feels dated and run down. The staff does not seem like they assist on the salesfloor. Each time I purchase an item, it feels like I’m in line at the DMV. Painfully slow at the register. If it weren’t for the rare finds and pricing, I would shop elseware.
Best place to find pop! And dvds and blue rays
Was a Great place to get 70’s and 80’s music but, not any more. Just found out the company signed me up for “backstage pass” which I DID NOT authorize. Been charging my card for one year now. Googled them and found out they are doing This to ALOT of people. BYE FYE !!!
The cashier Jasmine, acted like she really didn’t want to look up on the computer, for a couple of movies, that I wanted to purchase. I’ve been in the store many times, and always received friendly service. This time, the service was poor. It wasn’t very busy at the time, or I would have considered that as to the reason for her attitude. Most likely I won’t be back. I’ll order on line.
Cluttered and overpriced. Prefer our local collectibles shop, KRRJ COLLECTIBLES across the street!

“Hey Bakersfield, guess what? We’ve got a gem right in downtown, and it’s called Bakersfield Sound Co! This isn’t just another music store; it’s like a second home for us music lovers. The staff? They’re not just salespeople; they’re like your personal music advisors. And the live music? Man, it’s like a mini-concert hall right in our backyard. Downtown just got a whole lot cooler, all thanks to these guys!”

Stopped on our way home to Texas. Gas was $3.03 a gallon, which is very reasonable. Bathroom was very clean. Good place to stop for gas, water and snacks.
New place they play Indian music something different
I went to get cash back and when I paid I asked the lady if they had cash back after I paid because not once did it ask if I wanted cash back, she says it asked me, well it didn’t
all the Indian workers are so incompetent, when I scan my reward they say it doesn’t work, and only at this store all the other ampm’s work when I tell them they just roll their eyes on me. not coming back untill they get trained employees….
We stoped in our way to LA to buy gas.My kid had to use the bathroom so we went inside and the worker told us that they’re not allowing customers to use the bathroom. The funny part is that the worker had no mask while working!!
I just stopped driving for the day not even 7pm and apparently they only offer showers in the early morning times. Don’t understand it but hey whatever I’ll stopped somewhere else..
