Excellent customer service that you can only get from a small business like this one! Great staff and excellent repair work done on my son’s trombone.
El duenos es muy amable , flexible y contesta tus preguntas!
I am a professional musician. I had my Haynes handmade flute completely reburbished. It looks and plays like a dream. I also had my Gemeinhardt ALTO flute refurbished. All new pads, some fine tweaking, and it – too – exceeds my expectations. Dave is a gem – in the small city of Elberton.

Address: 16 S Public Square, Elberton, GA 30635 , Wilkes County , Georgia , United States
Great service, friendly employees. It’s a small store, but they are fully stocked with Martin guitars!
Easily the best music store.
Stan is the man! Got great deals on guitars and other musical instruments.
Slightly above average. If Stan’s there, he’s a wonderful storyteller, and man in general. If he’s out and one of his employees is minding the shop, come back another time
Good selection of guitars and accessories. Keyboards – not so much (there were literally 2 on the floor and not the best quality). Should be called “Stan’s Guitar World.”
Even though I was actually looking for a keyboard, guitar prices were decent and I might have bought one if anyone had tried to help me.
I really wanted to ask about equipment rentals as well since I was only in town for a short while, but again, service wasn’t part of the display.
The staff member at the register was so preoccupied in conversation with another customer that I wasn’t even greeted when I came in, and he didn’t even bother with a “come again soon” when I left angry after about 10min of looking around and waiting.
This is the reason people skip over local small businesses to shop at national chains – like that “other” guitar store
If Stan is not there, dont bother. Just go home.
3. S & L Music & More LLC
Address: 203 Campbell St, Elberton, GA 30635 , Wilkes County , Georgia , United States
These are tough times. Grocery stores closing in certain areas to be replaced with parking lots, expensive housing and over priced tourist shoppes and eateries. If Dollar General wasn’t nestled in these areas, folks like myself, would be lost.
Always nice friendly assistants to greet you
Finally had everything I needed in stock. Normally they don’t have at least one item in stock. This time it was well organized and stockef
The Dollar General in Washington GA is a small store that has very little compared to others and is usually messy.
The prices advertised aren’t how they are registered at the cashier. Then cashiers will argue with you when you point out that the advertised aren’t the same. 0 of 10. Would not recommend shopping here.
Nice new store as compared to the one in Tignal however, there is stock in the isles that need to be shelved, and it’s very difficult to locate certain items within the store. Various areas are lacking stock, it’s in serious need of Good store manager. Perhaps things will improve in time.
If you have OCD I do not recommend to go in this store, super unorganized and not the cleanest stores also customer service is not their top priorities
5. God’s Marketplace

Call about wireless Mic’s one evening and was able to pick-up the next day!
Love this store
Wonderful staff and good place to buy guitars.
Awesome service! Our son had to get a string replaced for his violin and they were super helpful in getting it fixed. We will definitely be making return trips. *EDIT: A word
The people there are welcoming and professional. They have an excellent training program for many different instruments. My daughter enjoys going there for her music lessons.
Small hometown music store.
They had great service and everything I need
Will not do business with them.
The guy was late to open the store. Then told me. I would have to wait. 15 mins late 7/9/17
I went in to buy a guitar. I wanted an American Stratocaster. They had a very small inventory, and the few that I might have been interested in were hung too high to get a good look at. The salesperson finally asked if I wanted him to get one down, but since he needed a stool to reach them I said no. I didn’t want someone to have to climb up and down for each instrument I would like to hold. I left without looking at any guitars. This was the Augusta store. The Savannah store is much better. The instruments are more accessible there. I bought a Gibson acoustic there two years ago. I bought a Fender American professional Strat from another store two days after my visit to Portman’s Augusta store.

An awesome spot! The dude that runs the place knows his stuff when it comes to acoustic instruments! A nice little selection in an upstairs nook make this a very unique place to go!
A small upstairs shop that has a great vibe going on. They are also very friendly and helpful.
Great shop. Beautiful instruments and some great sounding guitars and folk instruments. The custom made electric guitars are one of a kind. Hope to go back
I was disappointed with the repair work done on my guitar. It wasn’t a horrible job but it wasn’t a good job either.
The luthier wasn’t able to polish the frets because they didn’t have any high grit sandpaper so, I had to “polish” the frets with my strings from play wear and now my frets are “polished” very unevenly.
He seemed to do an okay job with the fret leveling and crowning but there are still some noticeable corners on about half of the fret edges and especially on the higher frets where people usually don’t play. (You can tell how he had it laid on the table because one side is relatively smooth and the other looks like it barely got any attention along with the nut which is just as sharp as before)
He also got multiple dings and scratches on my guitar neck. Which I personally don’t mind on the specific guitar I sent in, but I would be quite irritated if it happened to a higher end guitar. (It’s named ‘Rawhide’ which explains the guitar well)
So, pretty much I paid for an incomplete job where if I had the proper tools I could have done it myself and probably much better.
I’m not trying to start anything and I don’t want to get the Luthier in trouble, I just want to see quality work from the Luthier so *if* I ever bring in a higher end guitar I won’t have to sleep in fear worrying about possible damage.
My recommendation for the Luthier is if someone pays you to level, crown and polish frets, make sure you have ALL of the necessary tools and really take the time to do a good job on ALL of the frets. Also make sure to keep the guitar safe in the process.
If I had known what to expect for what I paid for, I would have pressed the Luthier to finish the job, but at the time I didn’t know what high quality frets were like.
Lastly, on an unrelated topic that really goes to personal preference, they require masks to enter the store, no exceptions. I don’t support being muzzled for a virus with a 99%+ survival rate and even 95%+ if you’re over the age of 70, where it’s so “deadly” you require a medical test just to see if you have it, and asymptomatic spread has been proven to be extremely rare, if not just another myth to keep us living in fear.
But to each their own.
I’m very disappointed in this “business” we had taken a family heirloom to him to be repaired, he said it would take two weeks. Hey, great you got a deal. Let’s go ahead and pay for it so you will have the money on hand to pay for the parts and your time. Three weeks later we have to call and the guitar still isn’t finished. Four weeks later we call once again it’s still not done. I go to the “business” to see if it’s even been touched, and low and behold it had not. He had already told us that sales from other people come first with it being around the holidays. Wait wait so a sale that was already made gets placed last?! That was my daughter’s Christmas present as well to hear the guitar play once again that her papa had gave to her 10 years ago, then he pasted away. I will never trust this place again repairs or to buy from!
Went to store this morning at ten after 11 and no one was there.
9. Kirkwood’s Music and Repair
Address: 206 S Belair Rd, Martinez, GA 30907 , Wilkes County , Georgia , United States
I originally was a customer of Brunkow’s Music until they closed down. At the time, there was only one other music store that I was familiar with so I began to do business there. I never was completely happy with this particular music store and I have never been a huge fan of business chains. Then, someone told me about Kirkwood’s. I took my flute in to be repaired and was highly satisfied with the work and the turn-around time. A huge bonus and selling point for me was and still is their excellent customer service! Also they are a locally owned business. I no longer take my instrument anywhere else for repairs and handle all of my music needs there. If they don’t have what I need, they never hesitate to order it for me in a timely manner. I have been a Kirkwood’s Music and Repair customer for 7 years now and have yet to have a poor experience.
Always go here for any needs my daughter has when it comes to orchestra. Never had any issue at all. Was we in band and orchestra at the same time! I know, it’s a lot but her flute happen to need a new pad and it was only a week or 2 before her concert (last school year, again I know.. I’m late posting this! Sorry) we went straight there after school one day they told us no problem to fix it and we rented her one for time being. The time it took to fix was a lot faster than we expected! It was like new again! And she had sound! They saved the day! We have never had an issue. It has been awhile from last time we went seeing how we own her instruments but if we need anything this is the only place we go! Staff is friendly and always answer any questions I have even the dumb ones! I know.. Their great cause I can have some dumb questions! Lol
Very Helpful! Satisfy customer! Will shop again.
Very helpful staff. Excellent choices for piano teaching books.
I have come here for some of my repairs before…but today was the first time I’ve ever seen a business have a sign saying they’re open with the door locked and have on the door saying “I’m in the back working on something at the moment and please wait 10 minutes. If 10 minutes have passed, please read the sign again.” Some customers may have the ability to do so. However, unfortunately my situation is where I have to use a knee scooter due to a disability and had to depend on someone for a ride. I just think thats bad business practice and me personally will have to think twice due to my circumstances.
Gentlemen upfront extremely nice(thank you for your help and knowledge). I explained the situation and since my employment seemed sketchy I understood. I agreed to do the credit check which is not a soft inquiry it is a hard inquiry which stays on your credit for 2 years and deducts 5 points. But still trying to explain very nicely my situation(never vulgar or raised my voice) the heavy man in back said and I quote “I am not trying to get verbal with you and threaten you in front of your son”. Anyone who has had their identity stolen understands. But I do not appreciate being threatened.
I dropped off a violin to be repaired in winter of 2021. I called February 2022 asked about it and said “it must have gotten pushed to the back.” Then said they’d start working on it. It is now June 2022 and has yet to be repaired. When I went to pick the violin up because I had yet to be contacted by them, the gentlemen handed me the violin without any explanation or apologies.
10. Redbox
Address: 110 Ann Denard Dr, Washington, GA 30673 , Wilkes County , Georgia , United States
My first time visiting here and was blown away at the quality of guitars they had. I brought my Yamaha acoustic I purchased from somewhere else here to get a set up done and they have great pricing and turn around time compared to other places I called. Also explained in great detail what needed to be done and what needed to be adjusted and why.
I wish I went here to make my guitar purchase, the quality of each guitar they have on display is beyond anything I’ve seen at other guitar shops. They set up each guitar before selling it and that right there just made me a lifetime customer. They really care about the quality of the instrument you’re investing in and that means a lot to me.
Aaron was very knowledgeable and explained to me a lot about the electric guitars that I had no idea about and let me play my first ever electric and I fell in love with it. I left out of there with a huge smile on my face after playing their guitars and speaking with them. I am going to be beating myself up for a long time for not coming here for my first guitar purchase.
Nice store, great staff, bought my guitar there very nice selections, carry Reverand guitars which is great. Nice music shop overall
Great local shop and super friendly/helpful people here! John Micheal came through in the clutch with a very specific Gretsch hard shell case for me. He even test fit it for me over the phone as they had the same model guitar in stock. This made it super easy – I was able to order it over the phone and pick it up the next day. Glad to have a great music shop like this locally.
Much better store I not been here in a while the past manager was not a music guy or a manger known as a air head I will be back
Good
Taught my kids to play guitar
Took down my review. Owner ultimately seemed to care about his customers. Too bad everything is so politically incorrect. Anyone still remember Archie Bunker?
But to clarify what idiot would try to exchange something opened, like a reed.
Amazon prime still winnnning.
Wow. Just called Town Center Music. Someone answered. I started asking about a guitar I’m looking for and got cut off mid-sentence by the guy talking loudly to a co-worker. When he stopped talking I said hello? Hello? Nothing. A few seconds later he hangs up.
Went in there a couple days ago. Not a huge fan. Workers aren’t very pleasant people and they come up to you every 10 minutes kind of giving you the hint to leave if you’re not gonna buy anything like you’re in there too long.
Great for beginners I guess. Don’t come in here expecting higher quality equipment and experience. Name of their game is to hook beginners onto cheap equipment (which is totally fine) and get you out. No hanging out in there jamming for an extended time.
Maybe I came in on a bad day.
13. McDonald’s
Address: 1018 E Robert Toombs Ave, Washington, GA 30673 , Wilkes County , Georgia , United States
Staff was friendly and service was pretty quick but cleanliness was not their strong suit. Just keeping it real.
Fast food isn’t good, but enough to live off of.
The manager would not refund my money after I told her several times that I wanted my money back. They neglected to fill my order properly. I have been a customer for years. I could not believe how combative and aggressive the manager was when they were in the wrong. They forgot our drink we already had to wait on the curb. She refused to give me my refund. She also likes to me.
The quality of the food has gone down !!
Honestly the worst experience I’ve had with a McDonald’s. We came down here with all of our family for a “family day”. The manager was rude AF. Constantly yelling at her workers. Rude with other customers. The food was not any where near fresh and can’t seem to make a hamburger correctly. While we were sitting down eating the managers kids or grandkids were in the dining room STARING AT US! Even looking over our shoulders on our phone. Completely ruined our privacy. We packed our food up and left. Honestly sad. Employees find y’all another job disrespect from a manager shouldn’t be tolerated.
Very helpful in making a decision on which one to get
Extremely nice guy . Full of knowledge.
Owner is full of knowledge. Enjoyed talking and listening to his knowledge of musicians. Will definitely be returning. My first visit was so pleasant and informing I will definitely be returning and giving my business to Hickory winds as long as it is there.
Very small shop has a large selection of guitars and amps not much in other musical instruments not a whole lot in books to learn how to play nothing in the line of piano lesson books or keyboard looked like nice selection of guitar strings and picks staff was friendly Just not a big store.
Had to return vapes 3xs
16. Ponce De Leon Music Center
Address: 1060 Dahlonega Hwy, Cumming, GA 30040 , Wilkes County , Georgia , United States
Friendly staff with a great selection of musical instruments. Different than other musical stores I’ve been to and had a welcoming family feel to it.
Great place. Friendly staff. All of your music and instrument needs will be met.
Very knowledgeable, always helpful.
Great Store
Great music store! The prices are pretty high, but they are very helpful.
Had to make a quick stop to grab a few things. I know it was closing time. I was trying to make it quick. When they started harassing my husband reminding him when they close he left and we took our business somewhere else. Customers want to feel welcomed, not reminded how unfortunate you are to have to lock the door right at 5:00.
The customer service is awful I definitely won’t be back there every again
I bought an old Mathushek baby grand for my sons to learn piano from our wonderful instructor. I had Nathan come tune the piano today. Imagine what an abandoned piano would sound like during WWII—A time when nobody was getting pianos tuned..because you know, the war. That’s what our piano SOUNDED like. What it sounds like now after Nathan…is remarkable!!!! I almost wish we had taken a video of the before. Nathan has the Midas touch and did wonders in 2 1/2 hours I never thought it would sound is incredible!
Nathan is a breath of fresh air…someone who has pursued piano tuning as his career and is dedicated to keeping this art alive in the electronic age. He is also very good at it. Nathan is very knowledgeable and professional, yet very humble and kind, and would you believe it, his services are affordable. We were so lucky to find him!
Nathan was very cordial, punctual, and professional. He did an excellent job cleaning and tuning my 1914 Steinway. He also provided valuable recommendations for future care and possible repairs. I highly recommend Nathan for your piano service needs.
18. Pro Music Outlet Inc
Address: 4135 Lavista Rd Suite 210, Tucker, GA 30084 , Wilkes County , Georgia , United States
Tony and his partner Rad is awesome to work with! I’m glad I met them both! I will continue to buy from these guys! Keep up the great work guys! Highly recommended
Tony know his stuff! 25 years experience can’t be touched!
Great selection of gear if they don’t have it they can found it for you. Good customer service.
I needed my hard drive recovered so they recovered it but deleted everything which I don’t believe was necessary just easier. They did put a lot of programs on my Mac but they are all antiquated except 1 and not only that they made it seem like they were putting so much on there but most of the plug-ins need authorization too plus my computer is running way slower than before but Iam glad it’s running and thankful for the programs that do work.
Cool people
Real feel kinda place
Never open, when I visit
UPDATE:
I have visited 4 times, during business hours, only to find a sign saying there are closed for a break.
These people cap Smh. Sold me a 100 mic.
In I end up looking it up smh this same mic is 22.dollars on Amazon. I Took it back right away
Alllllll Cap Over there look up the merchandise prices before u bye
I learn my lesson
Great place if you want to buy equipment. Not so much if you want to sell your items . I’ve called the owner about some things I wanted to sell to this location, each time the owner lied and said he wasn’t there or he would call back tomorrow. Very unprofessional if you ask me , if you don’t want to do something just say it .. don’t lie to a customer.
19. Village Music
Address: 114 N Avondale Rd, Avondale Estates, GA 30002 , Wilkes County , Georgia , United States
This is an incredible place where the staff understand the realities of a working musician. Don’t go to guitar center or other big box stores like that – go to this place and get great service and maybe even make a new friend. This is my go-to music store and it should be yours too!
Awesome locally owned music store! Great customer service and cool giveaways. Love that they partner with acorn amplifiers!
Dropped off my vintage King alto sax for some badly needed adjusting/repairs. Neil with Atlanta Prowinds picked it up later from the store. Called me later after looking the sax over and gave me estimate of money and time needed to fix. Delivered it on-time and in-budget. Neil did a great job and the horn plays beautifully now. Thanks Neil! Paul L
Called the store 3 times before arriving employee was sitting down on his phone when I walked in so I’m assuming the phone is not connected in the store.
First time guitar owner needing new strings put on was told to bring in my guitar and stings in from the car.
When I came back in I was to he’s no expert and someone could get to it later.
Not a big deal at all I just wish I would have know that before driving over and being told to go grab my item from my vehicle.
I visited this store which was rated as a great pace to sell vinyl records. Well I agreed to sell some of my records for a paltry $25 to be received via cash app, even though the clerk told me the owner has a habit to forget things, but I was assured my money would’ve be sent the same night or next morning. Still have not received my payment. Extremely unprofessional especially for such a small amount of money. Extremely disappointing and dissatisfied and would advise against utilizing this service
Mike put together the perfect sound system for a large outdoor wedding for us – for the officiant, for MP3 music, and for live string music. He even met me at the venue to set it all up and walk me through operating steps. The cost was very reasonable as well. MIke was extremely competent, friendly, and flexible, and I would heartily recommend North Georgia Sound to anyone.
