Reviews
I was in the process of buying a guitar from lane and then saw the Google reviews which I was very alarmed by. I talked to lane and looked into it. The people who left the reviews are a group of girls in NY who never bought a guitar in their life. If you want the real reviews go to his business website or Facebook page.
just called to ask about acoustics and he talked to me like i was completely incompetent. so disrespectful
I would give this place zero stars if I could. Lane is truly scum of the earth. Abuser is an understatement.
you should never buy from this store or lane. he is a horrible person and lies about every product he sells. every thing i bought was broken and he refused to refund me.
2. Quattlebaum Music Center
Address: 101 W Arch Ave, Searcy, AR 72143 , Woodruff County , Arkansas , United States
Great service, friendly staff, great selection of stringed instruments.
In town for a radio station visit and had some time to kill, went for a stroll and stumbled across Quattlebaum Music. As soon as we walked in, we saw an awesome selection of new and used equipment. Paige was really sweet and told us about the history of the shop, as it’s been in the family for about 50 years! As we browsed around, Greg and Bobby introduced themselves and brought out some amazing vintage guitars for us to check out! Sooo cool! Talk about a local store with awesome staff who truly care about what they are doing and offer amazing customer service. I don’t think it gets much better than that!
Highly recommend stopping in and we will be back to visit next time we roll through!
Good selection and friendly servi
Nice friendly staff
The staff are friendly, the products seem pretty good, and it’s generally a good place to fulfill your guitar-based needs. They also sell things beyond guitars, like music books for brass, percussion, woodwind, and other string instruments, which would definitely be helpful to anyone looking to learn. From my experience, don’t be afraid to ask seemingly stupid questions; Quattlebaum is a safe place for a beginner to reveal their lack of knowledge.
Very friendly and helpful. Really nice place .
They are selling stolen property.
I’ve purchased things from here before, but today, I felt as though my business was not wanted. I took a violin in due to having issues tuning it and the bridge popping off. Was told what I need to do. Told them thank you and asked my daughter if she wanted to look around. Was told to have a nice day. Was not asked if I needed help with anything else. Employee just walked away
Very rude to my wife and all she did was ask a queston please don’t do business with these people we don’t need rude people in this town.

The most honest, knowledge, helpful, and kind music guy you can find! He knows his and your stuff!
Beautiful noise is the only place I’ve taken my instruments to be worked on in the last 20 years. Great work and affordable
Jason is extremely knowledgeable and is very helpful
I would like to give more Stars.however it is very small and only a handful of merchandise.they didn’t even have nylon strings.

5. Palmer Music Company
Address: 1131 Front St, Conway, AR 72032 , Woodruff County , Arkansas , United States
Great folks and nice selection! Thanks for rewarding me for my military service!
I loved it! I love the vibe and they have great customer service, will definitely be back again
Been taking guitar lessons for a couple of months now and it has been great! I feel way more confident in my playing. The instructors are kind and encouraging, and always ready to help on next steps.
I was looking at electric guitars and they didn’t offer to let me plug any of them in. How are you truly going to know if you like one or not if you can’t hear the sound.
Usually busy because they’re good at what they do!
Talked to Joey in the store today. He took some time to help me plan for an upcoming purchase for our church. They have a large selection of all kinds of musical instruments and they do lessons, as well. Knowledgeable and helpful staff. Highly recommended! Thanks, Joey!
Go to GUITAR CENTER instead (you can actually have FUN there).
Went in expecting to buy a new guitar on 01/26/2023. The man behind the counter was very unfriendly & unhelpful.
I found one I wanted to buy but I just didn’t really want to give my money to a person who didn’t know how to smile.
Another employee walked by and was even more emotionless than the other guy. I left feeling very unwelcome.
I will not be back.
6. Searcy AV Studio
Address: 139 Stringham Rd, Higginson, AR 72068 , Woodruff County , Arkansas , United States
Large selection of musical instruments and accessories.
Great people. I love doing business with them.
Aaa
Great place got great gear but barely any left handed stuff
Nice person that really helped us
Best music store ive been to in a while
Awful, just awful… Paid 150 for used guitar that retails for 120 and comes with a bag! Wouldn’t give me a refund, only in store credit… Definitely not going back here
Selection is sub-par and overpriced. You are always able to talk them down on the price however and the staff is serenely helpful and extremely knowledgeable. You can find a few brand name guitars and a large selection of drum kits. I think it deserves repeating the staff is fantastic!! (no I don’t work there) ha
They had barely anything and it was all used. They were very rude to me because I was a teenager!!!!!!!!
8. Back Beat Music
Address: 613 Southwest Dr, Jonesboro, AR 72401 , Woodruff County , Arkansas , United States
This is our favorite shop! Darrel and Gavin are so helpful and super cool to chill with. We always leave happy and in love with all the purchases for our collection. Thanks guys…YOU’RE THE BEST!
Utilizing Greg’s expertise in marketing / creation in my business on social media and I could not be more pleased with his help! The equipment he’s suggested and sold has all been top notch and worked very. Plus, he doesn’t just take your money and run. I’ve been by and talked with him numerous times to better understand my technical capacity and he is always willing to help me better understand this craft. Can not recommend Greg and Back Beat Music enough!!!!!
Nice and friendly employees, great selection of items to choose.
I have been coming here for years as most of the reviewers. I have always had a decent experience. I’m just an amateur guitar player who doesn’t practice much and i don’t know much about music. I have to be fair and mention that, yes, the staff has at times, seemed curt and disinterested but I’ve never had an out-and-out bad experience here. It’s possible that they were simply just distracted or overwhelmed, it happens! I got lessons here from a swell guy several years ago. I wish i could remember his name. They seem to have a large variety of items like accessories-tuners, picks, strings, stands for your chords, chord books, guitar cases and guitars. They offer stringing services, although I’ve never used them. I think I’ve seen a few banjos and mandolins for sale over the years, although those may have been instruments taken on trade, i don’t know for a fact if they stock and sell those instruments. I also don’t know if they do trade-in as I’ve never had anything to trade. I have seen ukuleles there for sale. It is possible that they have expanded the lessons they offer into other instruments, such as wind instruments but I am not sure. That would depend entirely upon there being any such instructors available here in Jonesboro that don’t already have their own business giving lessons. That’s a lot of “maybes”. It would be good to call and just ask, if this is important to you. I do know that they used to give drum lessons, it’s possible they still do. If you are a musician or have a musician in your life, check this place out!
Great place to shop,
However one small issue I had there was when I was wanting to repair my Fender Guitar. The guitar was beat up a bit, had no strings, paint was damaged, and the knobs for the tuning were gone and the plate was cracked. My friend found it in an abandoned place and it was a decent guitar it was just badly damaged.
I went there to the receptionist and all I got was, “You are better off buying a new guitar” Etc. He was insistent on me just buying a new guitar. It was a very arrogant moment.
There are good thing’s about the place but from my only experience on this It was a huge waste of my time trying to repair, love the shop, the staff is pretty chill but I believe there can be changes.
Been going here for almost a decade. Probably the most condescending and overall lackluster service you can get in Jonesboro. If you’re a musician and you have a question, prepare for a rough time. Great inventory, bad pricing.
I’m being harsh with my rating, but in my defense I’ve been here at least thirty times in my life and have some terrible stories to go along with my dissatisfaction. There are things that you just do not do in customer service.
Sadly enough, the decent music stores have all closed up. Backbeat and All star are all we really have left and they are equally bad.
EDIT: Not sure if All Star is still open actually; don’t let that diminish my credibility. I avoid these places like the plague.
I was charged $60 for strings and when I got my guitar back I had to tune it.I also feel they were a bit rude.
Darrel Sykes, one of the employees, was absolutely rude and passive aggressive to me the first time I walked in there. He told me that the music scene here is cliquish then proceeded to ignore the fact I was in the store after trying to sell me a cheap-o condenser mic (I was looking for an AT4040). Trying to give them another shot after a couple of years I took a bass there for a repair, restring, and a set-up. The guitar tech was curt, impersonal, and left the old strings on there. When I went to pick it up, Darrel, another guy, and someone who I believe is the owner just stood there talking to each other for several minutes before seeing why I was there. There were no other customers visible. My bass turned out to be unplayable when I got it home, every note buzzed, and the saddles were lowered as far as they could go.
The inventory is lacking and the aloofness of the staff makes the place a total disappointment. I’ll drive to Memphis, Nashville, or St. Louis to outfit my home studio. I would advise any parent looking to get their teenager started on an instrument to look elsewhere.
Edit in response to the owner’s reply:
If by “imagine it” you mean how your staff actually treated me, then yes, that’s exactly how it happened.
9. Houck Music Co
Address: 806 W Main St, Cabot, AR 72023 , Woodruff County , Arkansas , United States
Bought a beautiful Loar LM-600 from Clarinda. Great set up, great playing mandolin and a great price.
Bought an excellent sounding, sweet mandolin from Clarinda at a very reasonable price.
I had been eyeing Clarinda’s websites and instruments for quite a while, about two years. I went to the west coast for a technical program for 9 months, and saw one for sale in the local ads even up there. Since I apparently could never escape, I had to commission something.
If you’re used to playing on cheap, starter mandolins from factories, know that a lot of them are overbuilt out of thick plywood for the top. They tend to be more plonky, less ring, less resonance overall. A lot of them are also not set up very well, which makes your job of learning the instrument even harder.
Do yourself a favor; spend a bit more and get something that will not just sound great, but play easy. I commissioned an F-style oval hole mandola, pitched below a mandolin. Love it. Highly reccommended.
13. Valley Piano Co
Address: 3515 W Main St, Russellville, AR 72801 , Woodruff County , Arkansas , United States
Excellent Brands and Excellent service!! And can do special orders! (EMG Active Bass pickups!!..ThanX!!) They’ve been around here for awhile, very well established and trusted! Also one of the last real music stores to survive around here! Show’em some love!!
Very nice gentleman helped me get some guitar picks for my husband.
Brian and Valley Piano are a Russellville institution, and even if you don’t have a baby grand to tune, you know you want a ukulele for your folksy teen with the great voice to put on their YouTube channel . They have a sweet, black, v-head Dean electric a-la Pantera I’ve been eyeballing too… Valley Piano does it all. Right. .
Great people, a very old store
I went into to buy a guitar. Very small selection
Lots of sheet music and DVDs but it is all on the computer today. Wonderful people. I wish them well!
My visit was to test the integrity of an electric guitar I had. Spoke to the guy behind the counter. (The one with the gray streaked goatee). Told him I was preparing to sell it via Facebook, and all I want to do is see if it sounds as it should. He said it was ok I was like great thanks. The buyer was from outta town and was shopping for guitar supplies. She had just bought amp still needed a cord possibly more. Asked her to meet up there since she was just down the road. She wanted to go in do to the rain. Instantly he started ranting that he’s a business man a professional and I was shady for what I had done. I was very polite. My reply ( I’m sorry I brought you a customer sure she meet up with me to buy a guitar for cheap but she still may need something) she was there for his childish act. ( she replied I do need a cord) He didn’t even bother to respond to her. He looks at me says someone smells bad like cigarettes… Wow 0 stars for your sir. Where’s your public relations at. Your welcome for that sell.
14. Shuffield Music Company
Address: 610 Main St, Arkadelphia, AR 71923 , Woodruff County , Arkansas , United States
Very friendly, helpful. Excellent music teachers, especially Mrs. McCants. Piano.
Amazing workers very knowledgeable and wayyyy better prices than you would expect!!!!
Helpful staff
Decent selection of products. Staff tries to be helpful.
Service tech was very knowledgeable and helpful
Good service.
Idiots galore slamed on a guitar I bought from them… Made themselfs look foolish…
Lacking! And not tied to the community, it screams SMALL TOWN MUSIC store and not Guitar Center
The salesman was rude and not helpful. It was obvious he’d rather be doing anything other than waiting on a customer! He was rude to fellow workers as well! One of the other salesmen took over at the register and apologized to me.
16. Beautiful Noise Music
Address: 3205 E Race Ave, Searcy, AR 72143 , Woodruff County , Arkansas , United States
It’s a good place! The person that owns it is a good man.
Keep it up
Terrible. Doesn’t listen to recommendations. I told him I wanted the neck of my les paul bolted on, but he insisted on glue. Because of him using glue, after two days of getting my guitar back, the neck came off. Terrible business. Definitely not worth the money paid.
