Very disappointed in the two salesman. Didn’t care if I bought a guitar or not. Very poor attitudes. Not interested in me at all. I was being friendly and told them that I couldn’t play very good and I have bought a guitar from them in the past. I finally asked them to think about one for me and call me back. I said do you want my phone number and he dropped a pad and pen in front of me. My friend who was with me said I don’t think they want your business. Iam 64 from Atlanta and just wanted a guitar while I was visiting my daughters. I’m a retired paramedic firefighter and those salesman need help.
I wasn’t to please with my recent visit. I paid to have a few instruments fixed and they fixed one but the other one was in the same condition as before. Knobs making noise and the input popping. I brought it back thinking maybe it was an honest mistake. Turns out they had sprayed it with canned air before for $20. When I brought it back he did the same again. Issue was never fixed nor a refund. I am normally pleased with their customer service but I felt like I was conned out $20. This last time I took it and blew with my breath into the input and some dust came out and now it plays great.
Happy they fixed my first guitar but not satisfied with my bass and the last time I asked for advice on what cable to grab, they gave me a trs cable for a balanced input that come to find out doesn’t work right, so I am giving this two stars.
Called to ask if they had two common guitar items in stock, and was promptly told they do not carry those items. Stopped by an hour later to find they did have them in stock. While brousing the store more than half of thier merchandise is packed up (bare shelves), and I was instructed by the staff not to touch anything I was not going to buy.
Unacceptable Service! It seems as if they just rather be closed, and don’t want any one comming in to shop. Ridiculous.
I agree with others who were disappointed with the petty “5 minute play time” rule. If you’re looking to spend 2k or more on a guitar, better hurry and figure it out soon and spend that cash because they only let you try a guitar for 5 minutes on a lifetime purchase. Genius. I will happily drive the 2 hours to Blue Angels in Pensacola and spend my money on a guitar where the business allows players to find the right instrument for them. I will never be back to this place.

If I could give negative stars I would, it pained me to give even one. I also hesitated to write this review, because maybe I was being sensitive or maybe I was more in the wrong than I wanted to admit at the time but after talking to MANY people, I have drawn the conclusion that I was really not in the wrong and people should know about your lack of professionalism and your lack of compassion. I picked up the guitar for the first time in my nearly 32 years in February. I was teaching myself to play and truly just getting a feel for the instrument. With that said, I wanted to get some different picks and possibly a capo, so myself and a friend went to UpBeats music store in Crestview. While in there I was entranced by the many beautiful guitars displayed. I wanted them all! Now let me preface this by saying that I made it known to the employee (owner, or whoever the unpleasant long braided haired “gentleman” was) that I was VERY new to the guitar, less than 2 weeks of messing around with it. I also made it known that I am a single mom of 4 kiddos and money wasn’t something I could throw around on something until I knew for sure I was going to stick with it but that if I did find it to be something I really enjoyed doing and wanted to pursue it then I would be back for one of the beautiful guitars I was drooling over. He had a somewhat “better than you attitude” from the start but I dismissed it because I’m not one to get upset about being judged for who I am, I live by the three F’s (which I won’t describe here). Anyhow, I found the picks I wanted and then located the capos. Grabbed one, not thinking they were going to be nearly $30. At the counter I realized the price and I decided not to get it because again….newbie, single mom, money isn’t growing on trees around here and I wasn’t ready to invest my grocery money on something I hadn’t quite committed to. I made the comment to my friend that I would just buy something cheap on amazon. The unpleasant long haired man then picked up my picks and proceeded to put them back on the shelf and tell me “you can buy those cheaper on amazon too” I asked him if he was being serious and he replied with a “Yes”. That’s when I realized he was, in a round about way, kicking me out of the store for stating to my friend, that I was going to get a cheap option elsewhere….Now, I’m not ignorant to the fact that small businesses depend on local support, and I am a HUGE supporter of local small businesses. So much so that I have sense bought not one, not two, but FOUR guitars from local businesses, numerous Elixer Guitar strings, picks galore. But I have not spent another dime in UpBeats music, nor will I ever. The folks at Playground Music in Fort Walton are AMAZING and I will gladly spend the money on gas, and drive the hour south, for a $4 bag of picks and a guitar worth a few hundred dollars…..might have ordered my first capo on amazon, but I bought my $30 Keyser Capo at Playground Music. UpBeats, you lost a potential loyal customer by your lack of compassion and patience. Oh and yes, I have stuck with the guitar….in fact it is my new found love and has helped me heal in so many way, thank you for not completely discouraging me that day. You get one star for showing your true colors before I spent my hard earned money in your store. Thank you for that.
I paid to have two saxophones serviced at UpBeat Music in Crestview. I paid $90 each for an all over check and repair. I recieved both back and had some concerns about one of the saxophones. I was having a hard time hitting low notes. I have been out of practice so I didn’t think too much of it. I went by a different store to purchase a new mouthpiece and while I was there I asked them to run a leak light down the instrument. Well it ended up having a lot of leaks and several were pretty bad. I had the second saxophone also checked out and it too had leaks although there were only two and both were adjusted on the spot. The first saxophone had more than 4 and two were severe. I contacted UpBeat music and let the owner Dick Reinlie know of the situation. I asked for a partial refund on one of the service charges. So although I paid $180 to service both I was only asking for 1/2 of the saxophone that had severe leaks ($45 total asked for refund). I did offer to bring the instrument in (the repairs had not been completed) so he could verify that it was not done correctly and know I was not making it up. Mr. Reinlie responded with a variety of responses to include, “You dissed my store” and “You should have never had it checked by someone else. If you thought there was a problem you should have come in and anyone who checks the instrument will find something wrong every time because they are out to prove my store wrong.” Through it all he did offer to have his service person repair it again. I did decline because I personally feel if such a sloppy job was done the first time, I would prefer to have someone else do the repairs going forward. I no longer held any confidence in repairs. I did tell Mr. Reinlie that I would not be able to use the store for repairs but could continue to shop there for reids and such. He continued to rant at me and tell me I was “being ridiculous” by going to another facility to have it checked and declined to look at the instrument to see the leaks for his own reference. By the end of the conversation, I was more disappointed in the company than at the start. I had purchased $80 in supplies the day before the repair conversation. I went into the store later the same day and returned the unused items. I had my 14 year old daughter and 8 year old son that had no idea of what had transpired. Upon the return Mr. Reinlie saw my name (I had not said anything of our disagreement, just that I wanted to return some unused items) and then proceeded to yell about how his store (UpBeat Music) was “dissed” by me and I was being “ridiculous”. I stated I was not there for an argument and left the store after receiving a refund and a 5 min rant from Mr. Reinlie while my refund processed. Upon leaving, my 14 year old said, “Mom what was that?! I mean clearly he was mad but he was the rudest person I have ever seen to a customer! And you kept telling him you just wanted to have a return and didn’t want to talk. He should be respectful even if he is angry.” So through it all at least my children were able to have a lesson in adult behavior. We will not be back to shop at UpBeat Music and I hope this review helps others in the future.
Upbeat Music is the only Guitar Store I’ve ever purchased a guitar from that did not provide even a soft guitar bag with my purchase. Never went back.

I was gifted a violin and took it here to get tuned up for my daughter. They were very helpful and gave good recommendations. As far as instruments go they did not have a great selection, but they had some accessories that I needed as well. If you want some help with your existing instruments this is a convenient and nice place to go in town, but if you are looking for a high quality instrument to try or purchase I would head toward Leitz or Blue Angel Music.
This is a great little local music store. The staff are always friendly and helpful. I’ve never felt rushed like some places.

My one time teacher could teach the basic but did not know how to play on my instrument. The owner charged me for a whole month of lessons for my one time lesson. Did he need the money that bad?
Dropped off a American Fender Strat Highway One HSS to get set up and get a fresh set of string. They lowered the action to low so now I have fret buzz on the low E just picking the string and fret buzz all the way down the neck on the low E and the A string. Pickups are way to low still. The bridge (closest to neck) pickup on the low E side is almost flush with pick guard still. Mid pickup is in the same place, and the pickup on the humbucker closest to the tremolo is still tilted at an angle. The tremolo is almost completely flush with the guitar. I can lift the whammy bar maybe a 1/4 inch at best before its flush with the guitar with no more room to work. And, as far as pushing it down maybe an inch before I start to feel to much tension. I’ve seen on line where people have a whole lot more give on the whammy bar almost being able to push it as far down where its nearly touching the guitar.

I’m honestly shocked at all of the good reviews this place has. This is a guitar shop, not so much a versatile music shop as I had originally anticipated; and they let that be known as soon as I started to inquire about flute accessories and information. The guy was unfriendly and short saying, “we really only work on guitars here” and seemed disingenuous and annoyed that I was even there asking about stuff for a flute. I’m appreciative that I was able to leave with a little something of a cleaning kit but, I have never felt so unwelcome in a shop like that before and will not be going to this “music store” again. They should probably change the sign to “guitar store” in the near future to avoid anymore awkward, uncomfortable encounters.

Too expensive
I came to the store looking for some help on purchasing my first violin, I ended up getting snubbed. I was trying to get some general information on purchasing and what I needed, instead I was told at least 3 times how expensive they were. I was deffinetly judged upon walking in the door, as it was I had just returned from a trip and did not feel I needed to dress up to go into a music store. In the end I am glad I had this experience because it allowed me the opportunity to find another business that was actually customer service oriented, and was not judgmental. I am now on my second violin and enjoying every minute of it, no thanks to this store.
Bought a clarinet from them for 1,111.94 was on sale originally 1900. A year later tried to trade it in. They offered 75$. They services this clarinet as well. Upgraded mouth piece. Long story short bad customer service owner wouldn’t even talk to us. Said he had lots of inventory but we saw none in store. Went to Schmitds and they offered a fair price for this and gained a customer. They were extremely nice. He said he gets a customer a week come in mad at these guys. 75$ smh.

Edit: tried a second time and service was better. Ended up buying a classical guitar on impulse with an acoustic 40w amp. It was close to closing timeso I didn’t camp out and try the Taylor’s. Adding one star back. Selection is still limited and mostly entry level.
Spent over 20 minutes in the store. Wanted to get a mid level acoustic for my daughter and another Taylor for myself. Not one hello, nod of the head or even eye contact from employees. Hard to believe they are on commission, not very hungry for a sale. Store is very clean, though much smaller than typical GCs. Selection was all entry level for the most part. I’m interested in an 814CE. I have had a 614CE for years but wanted something more traditional sounding than the maple of the 614. Lots of empty guitars hooks, either replenishment is lacking, or lots of guitars are in the back room. Had someone said hello, I would have gladly ordered the Taylor, and brought my daughter back to play the Luna, then order the nicer Moon Flower version. Off to check another local shop before I’m forced to go online. Prefer to keep my money local as possible.
Staff were friendly sort of people. Selection is fantastic if you are not a southpaw….hardly any left-hand guitars or basses, what a shame some of the best musicians were lefties…..no offense right-handed folk. Other than that, it’s a good store, well except for all the racket some of customers are calling music these days (Hey, I can bring some knarley feedback with best of them but come on!)….
GPS stopped working
I went there because their website said they had several brands onhand which their competitor did not. Their selection was terrible, and I had trouble holding the attention of a salesperson. When finally I did pin one down, it took over a half hour to get them to order an instrument off their own online site. The salesman said to expect a week for delivery. I asked that it be delivered to the store, so they could check it for defects and set it up. The receipt said to expect 7-10 days. It’s been 10 days, and it’s still not at the store. I expect another day after it finally arrives, for set up; but wouldn’t be surprised if it takes a week. Avoid them, ever after.
So brought a neck in and asked for a resize on the tuning holes to install a set of sperzel locking and the tech practically destroyed my brand new Japanese maple neck. Didn’t use a drill press, used a hand router to drill the set pins, and they’re not even close to aligned. I felt as if the tech was not provided the proper tools

The previous owner Bill treated his customers like family until he sold his shop to a bunch of crooks, I needed the new owner Kenny to put new strings on my guitar and he could not even do that right because my strings broke one after the other and when I asked him to restring the guitar he ordered that I’d have to pay him for the strings again and re-installation and when I asked for a refund he said “Absolutely not, because this would’ve never happened with any of my other customers” I asked “why are you doing this?” And he replied “what are you going to do about it?”

It was so great working with GTS and with Kristi, and Cheri. GTS was able to provide all the services that I needed and I didnt have to worry about anything the day of the wedding. Kristi was great to communicate with especially when hurricane Michael happened and our venue didnt make it and we had to find a different one. Having Cheri coordinate the day of our wedding was so amazing. I felt like I had a lot of moving pieces and small details and Cheri had everything handled perfectly.
The DJ did not even play the wedding march that was requested for my daughters wedding! None of the music played during the ceremony was what we had listed. We could have easily plugged in a speaker during the reception and done just as well. Very disappointed – – for what was suppose to be a perfect once in a lifetime event 🙁
They attempted to make amends by refunding the ceremony portion of the cost, but honestly, that couldn’t begin to compensate for the disappointment we had with their service.
Would not recommend services after being blatantly ignored when inquired dj services. Kristi Holbrook after two separate attempts from me & my fiancé , she completely abandoned all emails. No follow up email or explanation at all. I could respect a simple response saying they were booked if they didn’t want our services- but we did not. Zero percent customer service friendly!

Guy at the front counter was attempting to flirt with my girlfriend and told her was a virgin? She was creeped out, honestly i wasn’t that mad i almost felt sorry for him for how pathetic he was coming off. Prices are also high regardless, try to higher some staff with some sort of social ability.
If I could give this store zero stars, I would. The staff is ultra rude. One would figure they would want their customers to touch and play their guitars so they can make a sale. If I have to ask for permission to play a guitar, then you don’t REALLY want my money. I’ve been playing guitar longer than most of the staff has been alive and I get treated by the staff like I’ve never seen a guitar in my life. Stay away from this place and go to the Lakeland location where they treat their customers like the Rock Gods they are.

Went there to buy a music book with classic country songs. Found one that fit the need and purchased it. They have lots of instruments and things for all the needs of a musician. If you are a musician I’m sure they can supply your needs.
Super nice guys but when I tried to trade my mint esp 1000 deluxe with case and a marshall amp with a footswitch for a $512 takamine acoustic guitar they also told me they wanted 400 bucks. I get they are a business but didn’t know they were trying to straight up butcher me on the trade. On the phone the dude named Mike told Bruce that my ESP is selling for 700. Kinda wrong imo. Nice people though
Went in for an acoustic replacement part and the guy gave me a part for another guitar that was close but not right. Being an instrument shop, the guy should know what works and what doesn’t…or at least what to look for, for compatibility. It’s no big deal that I wasted the time and money…it’s the lack of knowledge from their part. I’m going to measure everything myself and order online, cheaper.
Also, come on, guys, every time I’ve gone in there (over 9 years) it’s always the same…dirty and dusty with a bunch of used unorganized crap everywhere. There are always people just sitting around and talking. I’m all for a cool hang out, but how about getting up off your butts and working your store a little. You have so much room and stuff, clear it out, clean it, and put it back in a better/improved way.
Lastly, your used acoustic guitars are miserable. I understand they’re used…but your prices are high and every guitar I looked at had major issue (cracks in the sound board or missing electronics with gaping holes).
Local shops are being killed by Amazon and the online retailers…you’re not helping to motivate us local musicains to support local shops. You could be the best in Brevard…but you need to do something and better yourselves.
This place is a rip off….cost me 60 dollars to have my 12 string worked on and when I got it home the electronics still didn’t work and when I complained about it all I got was a runaround. They wanted 150 dollars to replace the pre amp in the guitar and I told then no way. I went on ebay and bought the pre amp for $8.83 and it took me about an hour to fix it. Also the brand new strings they charged me for were all corroded. Beware of this place I will never ever do business with them again. Twice they have ripped me off.
