Working with Ed and J. Ben was a great experience. Very professional and I got my bass shipped fast! Great service!
One of the best music stores I’ve been to, hands down. From the experienced and knowledgeable staff to the vast selection and wide variety of music equipment and instruments this place really blew me away!
I’m road tripping with my gf at the moment and needed a piece of gear to round out my road kit, I was looking for a small head for my rig that I could record through and found an orange micro dark at this wonderful store. Not knowing too much about the product I didn’t have to stand there long before an employee approached me and answered my questions like he built the thing. I wanted to buy it on the spot.
There was a minor glitch in the machine (probably my chip to be honest) and believe it or not the owner was there within 5 minutes to resolve the problem, these guys really care about their customers and it shows in their customer care and above and beyond service. The owner (Ed) even took some cash off the final price (it was already marked down from Msrp) for the trouble.
I’ve been to music stores from Nashville to Miami to La and Phoenix and this one stands out as one of the best experiences I’ve had, I even drove back to the shop later that day (out of the way from my destination) just to buy a cable!
Next time in in Athens I know where to go for a friendly, knowledgeable and flat out amazing music store visit.
Thanks for the sweet new orange fellas!
Ran across them on Reverb. Ed responded fast and then I forgot our conversation. Then Ed messaged me to say. Hey, got the amp in and I’m headed to UPS. Do you still want it. And Boom got it in 2 days. Probably the greatest customer service I’ve ever encountered.
Pretty good shop if you are in Athens. Much better selection of gear than their competitors in the area.
Nice selection of stringed and percussion instruments. Pretty decent prices, too.
Professional assistance provided.
Really wanted to like this company. I was cheated and conned, and after a week with zero communication I contacted them. They fumbled around for another day or two then stated they couldn’t find the item. I was left empty handed and confused. No attempt at finding the item or ordering another. Nothing. Zip. C’mon guys!
Poor selection. If you like grandpa guitars this is the place. Wouldnt recomend to any modern guitar players.
Dude I’m not sure what happened. The first floor is desolate (empty for everybody that’s currently reading this while dunk). I understand social distancing, but I’m I am attending Warehouse, I do not care about the current situation, I’m here to rave. Open the first floor for a mosh pit.
3. Allseasons Music Store
Address: 460 W Cherry St, Jesup, GA 31545 , Zas , Georgia , United States
Great music store. Lots of inventory at good prices. The owner was very helpful. They had exactly what I needed.
Very nice music store; they are getting harder and harder to find. Good selection of instruments and gear. They especially have a large selection of percussion instruments, not as many cymbals to choose from, but they are a Meinl dealer.
Man they’ve got some nice stuff in there!
Great people really good service would have given 5 stars but prices are not competitive
At least 15% higher than Guitar center
It’s ok for this size town but if you’re looking for music you have to order it. Very nice personnel.
4. 440 Instruments
Address: 1131 Broad St, Augusta, GA 30901 , Zas , Georgia , United States
Great selection of instruments and Deveran is a pleasure to work with. Cort makes the best acoustic guitar for the money, love to see those being offered at 440!
Coolest music shop I’ve been to. Awesome couple of guys in that shop, super friendly, and they got some really cool stuff. Rare stuff too, these guys know what they are talking about. Not your typical guitar center
This is the best music store in Augusta. Helpful staff and they always have the kinds of things you’ll be in to.
Mike always seems 2 have some edifying and more times than ñotu leave feeling like u⁷u7
Good people very helpful
Just a poor experience in my visit. Not worth the explanation.
5. Guitar Center
Address: 1455 Pleasant Hill Rd, Lawrenceville, GA 30044 , Zas , Georgia , United States
We went in knowing that we wanted a guitar for my 9 year old, but we were not sure of what to get. We were helped immediately and the whole process took under 10 minutes. We were very happy with how nice and helpful our salesman was. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much 🙂
Excelente un lugar donde encuentras todo lo necesario para musica
Awesome
Not what it once was…rip
Meh
Good stock, but expensive.
Service is pathetic
Horrible lesson management system, which charged me one extra month even though I stated clearly I only want to try 4 lessons which is a pack.
You can’t manage or cancel your subscription in the app, email won’t be replied, all you can do is to be there in person. Lessons got cancelled but no one reached out to me about the extra $230 I spent.
Never coming back to this store. Every time we’ve come they are out of what was supposedly available online. Guy that worked in the drum section must hate his job. Very rude for no reason. Pleas retire if you don’t like people. Very disorganized place. They lost customers today.
6. Portman’s Music Superstore
Address: 3946 Washington Rd, Augusta, GA 30907 , Zas , Georgia , United States
Very friendly staff and fantastic selection. Lessons are reasonable and instructors are very knowledgeable.
Small store with excellent customer service. My musician loves to hangout and try all the new instruments. He’s headed out of country for the next two years and one of his last stops before leaving town was a trip to Portman’s to say goodbye.
I have been buying from these guys for years. Their customer service is great! The cool thing is they are musicians and vocalists! It really makes a difference when you are a novice musician. They are not just trying to sell you products. They let you know what you need and don’t need at the different stages of your musical progression.
Helpful staff that took there time asking and listening to the problem. They where upfront with “reality of time” that instrument would be fixed.
The store is a jumbled mess.. prices are high
They have moved to the old Blockbuster on Washington road. Repair time was quick and they had a good variety of instruments without the store looking cluttered.
Dropped off a ukelele on Wed, 5/16, to replace 4 tuners & 4 new strings. Called Friday & was told it was ready. Went to store & it had not been touched. Called Sunday 120PM and was told they would check & call back. Nobody called so an hour later we called and was told it had not been touched and the luthier could start working on it Monday, so we went & picked it up. They did refund our deposit, but no apology for the lack of service.
The customer service there was badly. They didn’t explain everything throughly.I’m a frequent customer 4-5 years have I been renting and bought stuff from here. We went back to rent the clarinet for my daughter. However the cleaning supplies was not given to us, because it was out of stock and they said that we can come back to pick the cleaning supplies. When I can back they told me information I never knew about and didn’t do what they were supposed to do like explaining the information they should’ve told us before we made a payment.
Casey has no customer service skills. Very rude and condescending. Never getting me hard earned money anymore.
7. Atlanta Musicians Exchange
Address: 2619 Lawrenceville Hwy, Decatur, GA 30033 , Zas , Georgia , United States
Mike and Bryan have the best attitude and most expertise in the city. I cant go anywhere else and feel like I am getting the same service. They will make you happy no matter what you are looking for.
Great place!
Great little music shop. They got everything you need to get started at fair prices. Anytime my kids want to learn a new instrument I’ll be going here.
I spoke with the most racist person that I’ve come across in a long time, I think it was the owner. My child called the store on the 4th of July (several times because he is a child and did not realize that businesses are actually closed on the 4th of July). I was unaware that he called so many times. The following day I received a VERY nasty and distasteful message on my voicemail. When I returned the call, I wasn’t even given a chance to speak. He was yelling, using profanity and hung up on me. I will definitely tell everyone I know not do business here and I do not recommend doing business here (especially people of color). I will also post it on my social media pages. There are far too many Music stores that actually respect their customers.
After looking at other reviews, it seems that the owner is just a jerk by nature. I didn’t even see any responses to good reviews, only negative ones. So apparently you enjoy tounge wrestling. I feel sorry for the people that have to deal with you daily. Bless you anyway sir.
Update: Every business was NOT closed. I didn’t call my son did several times. You left a nasty vm on MY phone. And who has no class?? It’s definitely you…
The photo of the wall of guitars is pretty much their entire stock. I’ve seen low-end pawn shops that are less cluttered.
Horrible Customer service and NOT HELPFUL!! Instead of helping we with appropriate prices for my gear, I was ridiculed by the prices I thought might be appropriate. A ‘good luck with selling your stuff at those prices’ is all I got. I don’t appreciate the attitude and lack of consideration. All they could have said was ‘those prices are higher than market currently…have you thought of selling them for $$$$?’. Unfortunately the response I got causes me to NEVER want to shop at this place. Sellers BEWARE.
8. Music & Arts
Address: 1596 Dogwood Dr SE B, Conyers, GA 30013 , Zas , Georgia , United States
Very great place for everything music related and the staff is very knowledgeable and know their stuff ! An excellent place for everything music related !
I walked into this store not really knowing what mouth piece my grandson needed for an instrument at school. Thank god the young lady who helped us did. I would recommend this business for all your music/instrument needs.
Great place to buy gear. Knowledgeable staff and good products at great prices
Need more and a greater variety of stock, but awesome place otherwise.
Very helpful I got exactly what I needed and nothing else.
I paid for a month of voice lessons in advance and I wanted my money back and no one would try to work with me to get my refund back they wouldn’t even let me switch instructors, give me store credit, or anything to try to work with me. The employees favorite line was the system wouldn’t let them give me a refund back it’s alway the system fault ok well call tech support but guess what they can not call music and art Tech support department! I do not recommend anyone to take any type of lessons from this store at all! To many issues to get your refund back!
Went there to buy a pair of sticks for my student and the employ acted as if I wasn’t even there and simply didn’t care. She wasn’t welcoming at all, I didn’t even get a simple “hello”, just a stare. Then when I seen that the product wasn’t there I asked if they carried the product she told me “if it’s not there then we don’t have it or just look harder” and proceeded to talk to who ever she was speaking too.
Buyer BEWARE of unsatisfactory customer service and possible discrimination… Don’t be fooled by the cheerful “welcoming”. After completing the “rent to own” paperwork, I was presented with a horrifying, overly scratched clarinet. Asked for more options to choose from and a particular brand. I was told that it was the last one in stock and it would take a month to locate another. As I proceeded to step away from the deal/contract, MIRACULOUSLY, he offered to check the inventory again. No thank you, attempted to forcefully initiate a contract on a below standard instrument. Went to a different store and purchased a one-owner Yamaha clarinet that appears brand new. New to instrument rental, but is nobody’s fool!
9. Jackson’s Music Store Inc
Address: 5485 Westmoreland Plaza, Douglasville, GA 30134 , Zas , Georgia , United States
Excellent customer service and super nice people they will go all out to help you
Nice people
Good customer service. Very knowledge.
Music is awesome
I’ve been here several times and they are constantly helpful and efficient. They took a look at my cello at no cost and let me know it didn’t need to be fixed yet. I appreciate their honesty.
I’ve went to Jackson’s music a few times in the past couple of years. I have purchased a drum set from them and its my number one kit still to this day. For the most part friendliness is in the atmosphere when the older guys are working, the younger guy on the other hand is lazy and careless and doesn’t see the need to know about drum accessories even being the store salesman that he is.. I guess he’s a guitar guy or something. I feel as if anyone that was clueless about music or music instruments could do a better job than that guy. The guy acted as if he didn’t know what I was talking about and was trying to pretty much get me off the phone until I pushed the issue. Then he was like, “oh I know what you’re talking about.” This was after I walked him through what I was in need of twice! Anyways the guy clearly knew what I was talking about and was more than likely anxious to get off on time instead of making one more sale for the day. He even told me that someone else called this past week about the same thing. In store experience is definitely the route to go. If you call you’ll more than likely get the careless and clueless young guy on the phone that doesn’t even deserve his job. I don’t know if it’s because he didn’t get the training he needed or if he likes to milk the system but whatever the case may be he obviously can’t help you because he can’t even help himself or the store by doing a good job.
I really wanna like this place, but there is a guy that’s been here for years, and everytime I’ve gone in he has been crabby about something. Maybe it’s just a coincidence, but he’s not to cool to the customers anytime I’ve been around.
People there are polite enough, but have no business sense, if you’re not familiar with the music industry they will belittle you. Do not sell equipment to them, they only do consignment (which is a very outdated idea imo), and offer a 70/30% which is higher than typical music shops.
10. Music & Arts
Address: 5213 Memorial Dr, Stone Mountain, GA 30083 , Zas , Georgia , United States
Always pleasant staff working. Never a bad visit. They go above and beyond to help customers. I was able to order stick from another location thanks to Kelly!
We’ve been coming here for months for lessons and I can’t say enough about Mr. Keltner and Ms. Kelly. They are phenomenal. Such a great staff. Dallas is a great instructor. Overall a Great location highly recommended and we appreciate all their hard work.
Very nice staff and instructors. I’m taking lessons there and everyone had been very helpful.
It had what I needed, so that was good. However, the staff seemed like they would’ve loved to be anywhere but at work.
11. Jays Music
Address: 3110 Washington Rd Suite B, Augusta, GA 30907 , Zas , Georgia , United States
Super polite staff, reasonable prices he was in the middle of a store change so all the stuff wasn’t there yet but I will be back
I’ve known the owners for years, I used to come in there old location every week before I moved. Its really the only place in Augusta to find cool used trade-ins. Vera is a super sweet lady and Doug is really fair on trades.
Met Vera yesterday. What a sweet kind lady. Place is very hard to find especially way people drive on Washington road. But it is right next to where checkers is sndPiccadilly’s was. Store looked not quite moved in yet but Vera, what later found our was an owner, really made all of those distractions go away. Please find time to go see these wonderful people before we lose another brick and mortar shipping experience
It’s the same Jays in a new location. They have a nice selection of gear, but be ready for the owners to be on you like hawks to buy something asap.
I placed an item on layaway and every time I went to make a payment the store was closed. When I requested a refund I was told that they don’t give refunds. I recommend that NO ONE does business with this place. They are both prejudice and scammers!!!
Not shoppable, no defined path. Much of the stock is in cardboard boxes skewed across the store. The owner pays no attention to the customers. Most products have no price labeled on them, but you can’t get the owner’s attention long enough to ask the prices.
Staff the older gentlemen is not the friendliest and the woman is not too knowledgeable on their products. New location is cleaner than the old one but still stock remains on shelves for a long time and not upkept. A few guitars i played were not tended to. Dead strings and grimey fretboards. Not good
12. Joselito Music Llc
Address: 733 Pleasant Hill Rd a1, Lilburn, GA 30047 , Zas , Georgia , United States
Super nice folks. Very fair and respectful. If you need something new or pre-owned give Joselito Music LLC a chance. Thanks Jose!
Muy amable la encargada, exelentes productos.
Excellent place, helping with respect and kindness. Very hard to find place like this today.
We came here to get some music supplies on a Tuesday at 2:30 pm. No one was there. We drove quite a few miles and nothing stated the store would be closed. So I see no option but a 1 star rating here.
13. Music & Arts
Address: 3830 Washington Rd Ste 33, Augusta, GA 30907 , Zas , Georgia , United States
Excellent customer service. They price match. Love shopping locally.
Great staff. They know their instruments and put customer service first. Good I bought my guitars there.
Great place great environment. Kevin amazing sale rep/ manager I’ll be back..
Local staff is absolutely fabulous!
Kind and helpful each time I’ve visited. They have gone above and beyond to help us with purchases questions and repairs.
BUT, this is a big nationwide company so when it comes to billing questions or issues you have to call thier customer service line and that is always a big hassle in my experience. You can’t update cards and such online, the wait time to speak to anyone has always been 30+ minutes for me and they often give inaccurate information on pricing and/or billing dates.
Honestly, if it wasn’t for the employees in the actual store being so awesome I’d just go through a different company for my child’s band rental, but they really are that good that I’m willing to overlook the corporate problems
Very helpfu, knowledgeable, professional staff
14. Jackson’s Music Store Inc
Address: 7445-A Old National Hwy, Riverdale, GA 30296 , Zas , Georgia , United States
The Jackson’s music team provided great customer service, and really did a great job taking care of one of our Tiffin University commercial music students!
Very customer friendly with a old school feel..
I always look for Steve to change the strings on my Fender. He does a great job, polishes her up and is courteous and articulate.
Music store with small private session rooms in the back. My daughter’s first flute lessons. She learned alot. We look forward to her next lesson.
I respect that the owner did follow up to compromise on resolving the issue.
I went there to pick up a music book. Very simple transaction. The sales clerk was nice and it was set up very neatly in there. Would recommend to anybody looking for music-related items.
Had my wife drop off our 13yr old daughter clairinet about a week ago. Because one of the corks had tore and some other piece on it was not functioning correctly. They said not a problem they will fix it. They called
me today and said come pick it up its fixed. ..20.00 and some change. Ok kool had my wife to go pickpick it up. Upon arriving back home I asked her if she checked it she said no. We unzipped it to see the cork on the mouth piece was broken. She then zipped it back and drove back up there 30mins away they said they would fix it give them 30 mins then they called her in and said she need some more cork grease that’s why they keep breaking and she needs to pay an additional 17.00 and buy some grease! And we didn’t say anything about a mouthpiece that’s why they did not fix it the first time
After nearly 10 years of doing business with and at Jackson’s Music Store, I can say that I was deeply angered, saddened, thoroughly disappointed and dissatisfied with the service that I and my son received.
The customer service and the (African-American Male with the salt and pepper dreads) was deplorable. His arrogance and lack of compassion for my son and them losing parts of his accessories (guitar bag, strap and amp cord) was most upsetting and alarming. However for him to say that my son didn’t turn in a bag and accessories when I was on the phone with him and ensured that he did was a slap in the face.
He offered no compensation or even try to help replace the items that they (he in particular) lost.
From a professional standpoint and standards, it was the most unprofessional experience that I witnessed and was most upsetting for this to have happened to my son as this was for service to a guitar which was his Christmas present.
The customer service nor store manager offered no apology or even bothered to look for the items.
I’ve served my country for nearly 30 years and am a Retired Army Officer. I’ve been in music ever since 1984, since junior high school and this was the first time that I experienced that type of arrogance from a manager and customer service.
I will never patronize this store again after that ordeal. I will drive the extra miles and take my business to The Guitar Center from now on.
Absolutely terrible. I went in with a problem and came out with the same problem 10 times worse.
