Awesome people and unbelievable craftsmanship. If you need anything related to string instruments, this is the place!
Awesome peaceful relaxing n comfortable
Nice simple shop with pretty knowledgeable staff who were willing to discuss with the customer intricate details inorder to get the job done also a few beautiful vintage amps
Got a fret dress done thinking the buzz was coming from the frets but it was actually coming from the tail piece so wont be able use the guitar in any pro recording environment until I can get a new stoptail installed. after 2 repairs from them I wish someone would have noticed the tail piece was bent causing a high pitch sitar like sound because of how the strings were sitting on the bent tail piece.
So I will say they haven’t had a chance to reach back out and fix the situation. I brought my guitar in for a set up brand new. I know I should have looked and inspected the guitar right away. But I have a before and after picture there was no damage to the guitar again brand new after I got the set up this damage was right where I can see they tried to use the truss rod adjustment tool. I know guitars get slightly dinged up but like come on…..
I will say people were nice, and guitar set up was ok. I will adjust the rating depending if they get back to me.
Edit they called me back right away I bumped up extra star guys were nice about it. I wasn’t trying to get anything out of it I just want it to be a learning experience.
Had a Gibson SG refinished here and it was terrible. Very patchy and uneven coverage. Worst of all was the headstock. I am a little perplexed though, they have many great reviews and other great pictures. The folks there were nice, decent selection of guitars for sale, no other complaints. I’m not sure why my guitar came out so bad.
Terrible service and terrible work.
Would never recommend to anyone.
Stay away!
3. Music Authority Inc
Address: 123 Merchants Square, Cumming, GA 30040 , Ambía , Georgia , United States
First visit looking to tune guitar. They gave great advice which I am following. Also women there took great care and listening to fine tune what was best for what I needed and was in no way in rush thank you to the team
We have been at Music Authority for over 2 years. Not only have they helped my son with his music but they have also encouraged leadership skills that most middle and high schoolers don’t experience. They are helping him reach his goals as a musician and my goal to be a competent adult and contributing member of society.
Great selection of musical instruments, friendly staff and music lessons are really good and are at an affordable price.
My 10 yr old daughter and I take piano lessons at Music Authority. Our instructor, Brooke, along with a lot of practice, has taken us from zero musical experience to reading and playing the piano in a few short months.
We enjoy the lessons each week and we learn something at each one. Our instructor is a gifted teacher. She changes up the lesson plans so throughout our lsns, and at home practice, we learn music theory, practice skills exercises, and learn songs. It pushes us to go further but doesn’t overwhelm.
If your looking to learn an instrument or two, this is a good place to start. Music camps and performances are offered as well. You can get as involved as you want.
Went in for a purchase. Didn’t end up buying, but one of the owners assisted me and had a lot of knowledge to offer. People came in and out for lessons and they were all treated very well… you can see the passion. The store could use a bit of updating, which is the primary reason for 4 stars instead of 5.
Mr.Mark is my son’s Piano teacher and my son enjoys his piano lessons.
Placed guitar on lay away, son decided he didn’t want it, the stated they’d give me back $13 of the $50 because they keep 15% of the full price of the guitar for a “restocking fee” I told them just to keep the damn $13 because it sounds like they need it. Although I lost $50 on dealing with these disgusting blood sucking ingrates I at least feel great that I didn’t follow through with the deal.
Very unfriendly if you can’t use the exact terms correctly,
If you can be sure you never can miss a lesson even with 24 hour notice for any reason than its place for you. But if you are a human like everyone else than you will be responsible to pay for lessons that been cancelled even with 24 hour notice no matter what. I never had to experience something like that before with all of my 3 kids activities. Stay away from this place!
4. Vintage Musical Instruments
Address: 42 Public Square S, Dahlonega, GA 30533 , Ambía , Georgia , United States
I live in Atlanta, and I was spending the weekend close by Dahlonega, I found this shop and dropped my guitar for some adjustments, knowing it would take me a couple hours round trip to pickup again. Best decision ever, my 25 year old Takamine feels brand new again. Ken knows his stuff and is a beautiful person. Awesome experience.
I learned so much here than l ever learned from any piano lessons in the last year.
It’s the coolest shop on the square in Dahlonega GA.
I was disappointed with the repair work done on my guitar. It wasn’t a horrible job but it wasn’t a good job either.
The luthier wasn’t able to polish the frets because they didn’t have any high grit sandpaper so, I had to “polish” the frets with my strings from play wear and now my frets are “polished” very unevenly.
He seemed to do an okay job with the fret leveling and crowning but there are still some noticeable corners on about half of the fret edges and especially on the higher frets where people usually don’t play. (You can tell how he had it laid on the table because one side is relatively smooth and the other looks like it barely got any attention along with the nut which is just as sharp as before)
He also got multiple dings and scratches on my guitar neck. Which I personally don’t mind on the specific guitar I sent in, but I would be quite irritated if it happened to a higher end guitar. (It’s named ‘Rawhide’ which explains the guitar well)
So, pretty much I paid for an incomplete job where if I had the proper tools I could have done it myself and probably much better.
I’m not trying to start anything and I don’t want to get the Luthier in trouble, I just want to see quality work from the Luthier so *if* I ever bring in a higher end guitar I won’t have to sleep in fear worrying about possible damage.
My recommendation for the Luthier is if someone pays you to level, crown and polish frets, make sure you have ALL of the necessary tools and really take the time to do a good job on ALL of the frets. Also make sure to keep the guitar safe in the process.
If I had known what to expect for what I paid for, I would have pressed the Luthier to finish the job, but at the time I didn’t know what high quality frets were like.
Lastly, on an unrelated topic that really goes to personal preference, they require masks to enter the store, no exceptions. I don’t support being muzzled for a virus with a 99%+ survival rate and even 95%+ if you’re over the age of 70, where it’s so “deadly” you require a medical test just to see if you have it, and asymptomatic spread has been proven to be extremely rare, if not just another myth to keep us living in fear.
But to each their own.
I’m very disappointed in this “business” we had taken a family heirloom to him to be repaired, he said it would take two weeks. Hey, great you got a deal. Let’s go ahead and pay for it so you will have the money on hand to pay for the parts and your time. Three weeks later we have to call and the guitar still isn’t finished. Four weeks later we call once again it’s still not done. I go to the “business” to see if it’s even been touched, and low and behold it had not. He had already told us that sales from other people come first with it being around the holidays. Wait wait so a sale that was already made gets placed last?! That was my daughter’s Christmas present as well to hear the guitar play once again that her papa had gave to her 10 years ago, then he pasted away. I will never trust this place again repairs or to buy from!
Went to store this morning at ten after 11 and no one was there.
5. Music Go Round – Atlanta/Duluth, GA
Address: 3675 Satellite Blvd # 100, Duluth, GA 30096 , Ambía , Georgia , United States
Purchased a POD 2.0 from Lilburn. Great product, great price, great communication, great shipping. Thanks for the great service!
Ordered a Jackson Kelly a while back still good guitar just wanted to give you a good review
I had my clarinet recently fixed here. The people who work here work smart and hard. They placed a sticker on the place where my clarinet was broken, and it was fixed within one week. Great place overall!
Friendly people who make you comfortable with buying & selling musical instruments.
Good selection of new and used equipment.
These folks are incredibly friendly, flexible, and knowledgeable. You are absolutely encouraged to test the equipment before you buy to see if it does everything you want it to. They’ll even help you run the test.
No encontre lo que necesitaba
I’m sure this will be looked at as the “just a bad experience review” but I’ll just lay it out and let you decide.
Monday – Brought my bass in to be setup. Waited about 2 and a half hours to be told that they don’t do setups in house. I was also told it would take at least a day.
Tuesday – called in in the afternoon and it still wasn’t picked up.
Wednesday – had a gig Wednesday night. Called at 1. Asked if my bass was picked up. I was told it wasn’t yet. I responded sayibng that I needed my bass for gig. Do not send it off. I show up at the store at 7pm that night to pick up my bass. The store clerks tell me that my bass was already picked… At 12 and whoever was wrong. The clerk tried to call the guy who does their setups and it went straight to voicemail. He told me that he could rush the setup and could have it back early Thursday. I decided to just to borrow my guitarist’s bass and pick up my bass Thursday.
Thursday – I show up to the shop at 7pm. My bass is behind the front desk waiting for me. I tell the clerk that I’m here to pick the bass up. He hands me the bass and tells me that i denied service so nothing was done with it. I left the shop with my bass in hand and never stepping foot in that shop again. I’m also sending my students elsewhere.
Update: my bass is chipped…
Stay away and do not support this joke of a music store…Look at anything advertised on their site. Then look at the shipping cost! For example, they charge $96 to ship a 3 pound cymbal! What tops the cake is the worst customer service you receive via phone or direct email. “We rather sell it in the store that’s why we charge so much for shipping.” Yeah, you read right: I actually was verbally told this via phone…and to back this up, they refuse to give the business owners name and claim the “Floor Manager Naeem” is the store owner and shot caller…who is the reason behind this disgusting practice. Ann Wood is the owner. Be sure to call and ask for her if you have the same issues and she’s the real problem. This review was posted after experiencing the same situation twice here, and four other times nationwide. Do not buy anything here, shop where service and fair market value is the standard.
6. SMC Music

Quality music equip at reasonable prices ..no pressure sales . sales reps seem to know the equip pretty well
Great selection and prices
Shane was a great help finding the items we needed.
Love this shop. Nice selection, decent prices and the employees seem to all enjoy music at some level.
Up to date on all of their equipment salespeople knowledgeable no wasted time
Poor selection but reasonable prices

Clerk was on the Web, Netflix, etc. with girlfriend beside him
I came in to make a Christmas purchase for my wife.
Moving on…next store and spend my Cash!
This place is awful, The Workers was very Rude, and they and was very much a fraud. They tell one thing on the phone once you come in a They Run your credit the price jump up 1000.00. Be aware they Rent instruments that have been used 3 or more times for the price of a Brand new one.
7. Town Center Music
Address: 4072 Suwanee Dam Rd NW, Suwanee, GA 30024 , Ambía , Georgia , United States
This is an excellent music store with even more excellent people working there who make musicians feel at home.
I found the Town Center Music store after I moved to the area. I have to tell you that this spot has a really great feel to it.
Call me strange but as a musician I really want to find a great spot that isnt too big (Guitar center) and not also not too small that it feels sketchy.
They have a really great layout, everything is clean, (they have alot of assorted equipment) they have a wall setup for folks looking for other musicians ( Im buford looking for other people btw), they have a huge selection of pedals and they also are very helpful and very informative.
They took care of me really great (Kevin in particular) and I hope I can help convince you to give these guys a look over as I did.
(Ill be seeing you guys tommorow for some new strings if your reading this)
This is your one stop shop for all thing musically beautiful! Owner/manager Aaron has crafted a space where you can browse without feeling pressured or get recommendations on what you need to take your gains to 11. Amazon doesn’t carry charm, personality, and wit but this shop and crew do!
Much better store I not been here in a while the past manager was not a music guy or a manger known as a air head I will be back
Good
Taught my kids to play guitar
Took down my review. Owner ultimately seemed to care about his customers. Too bad everything is so politically incorrect. Anyone still remember Archie Bunker?
But to clarify what idiot would try to exchange something opened, like a reed.
Amazon prime still winnnning.
Wow. Just called Town Center Music. Someone answered. I started asking about a guitar I’m looking for and got cut off mid-sentence by the guy talking loudly to a co-worker. When he stopped talking I said hello? Hello? Nothing. A few seconds later he hangs up.
Went in there a couple days ago. Not a huge fan. Workers aren’t very pleasant people and they come up to you every 10 minutes kind of giving you the hint to leave if you’re not gonna buy anything like you’re in there too long.
Great for beginners I guess. Don’t come in here expecting higher quality equipment and experience. Name of their game is to hook beginners onto cheap equipment (which is totally fine) and get you out. No hanging out in there jamming for an extended time.
Maybe I came in on a bad day.
8. Attina’s Music Store Inc.
Address: 378 Glynn St N, Fayetteville, GA 30214 , Ambía , Georgia , United States
Referred by Griffin Music Store to repair my trumpet. Called and John was super friendly and very informative with completing the repair to my Bach Strad trumpet. Thanks and I’ll be in soon with it to get it back to playing perfection. Jon S.
I came here to check out their drum section and ukuleles. The owner Jon is kind and professional, he gives you time and space to investigate the instruments. I bought my first steel drum here and recently a new ukulele. Definitely check this place out because not only is there a great selection of various instruments, the music store is a family business! Jon has kept this place thriving and alive since his saxophone playing father originally opened the store years and years ago ! I am looking at drum lessons next here. Aloha Attinas!
Wonderful customer service. I walked in found what I liked talked to the worker about the instrument, and was more than pleased to purchase my new guitar! I will definitely be back!
Have most items you may need however they’re a little pricey most things are available for less online.
This is a really great store with loads of musical equipment, basically everything you need and they also give guitar lessons here taught by highly skilled and competent professionals. I would recommend this store to anyone.
Great experience and the employees with was super friendly
It was obvious that my presence was causing discomfort to the manager/cashier/whatever. I was not allowed to play a certain Epiphone Les Paul (not even a Gibson) because ‘they wanted to keep it clean’. I am a frikin professional guitarist with 11 years of experience and no music stores have ever denied me of handling an instrument. Highly offending for a first time visitor’s impression.
Go to Guitar Center and avoid this place, you’ll be glad you did.
Guy was on phone the whole time…and we waited. Not sure this is the norm but it was my one and only visit
Expensive, great variety
9. Megatone Music
Address: 44b Town Sq, Blairsville, GA 30512 , Ambía , Georgia , United States
My husband plays guitar. He always checks out guitar stores where ever we go. Megatone has a variety of instruments. Guitar lessons, accessories and repairs. They do carry some vintage guitars. I Highly Recommend checking out Megatone
Great deal on a new Les Paul. Very friendly service.
Dealt with these people on reverb. They ignored my messages, refused a refund twice, once before it had shipped out because the dimensions weren’t right to fit on my guitar. Then after no response for months, I posted on their facebook and they deleted my post. These people are scammers and deceivers. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM.
Out if business
Ordered a brand new guitar for a present and it arrived with a scuff. Not sure if it was packed like this or it happened during transit. I sent a freindly message to Megatone Music about it and the initial response I got was that it was a mislabled used guitar, not a brand new one as advertized. Then he said that i scratched it and its not a big deal, my friend will be happy with a present. Not a pleasant expereince. Seller’s responses seem manipulative.
10. Earthshaking Music
Address: 648 McDonough Blvd SE, Atlanta, GA 30315 , Ambía , Georgia , United States
Brought in my lezzi for a neck issue I was failing to get out myself, and they fixed it up smooth and cheap. Been told by more than one local musician that they are the best techs around. From a quick scan of their inventory, they seem to lean toward higher end beginner and intermediate gear. Full service musician shop. Drums guitar bass…
Do yourself and the music world a favor and stay away from Guitar Center
Fantastic shop! Great selection. Great shop for a gigging musician. Awesome selection of pedals. Lots of weird stuff too if you’re looking for something special; staff is excellent.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff, great instrument options for guitars and percussion. The location is not the best part of town; otherwise, I would have given it 5 stars.
Solid.
We were looking for a pre-owned Taylor or Martin acoustic guitar. We’re from out of town and had somewhere to be so we only had about 25 minutes to look around. At first everyone was nice while we looked around, both of our kids are involved heavily in music so they spent their time there trying out instruments to which the gentleman attending (I could assume owner) was kind and attentive. Until we turned down sale of a keyboard, at which point he decided to approach my autistic son while on a small drum kit and scream at him for being too big for it. I’m no fan of leaving places in handcuffs, so I didn’t cave in his face, I decided a well deserved poor review and exposure to the public what a peice of trash he is would suffice. Trying Dirt Cheap Music nearby instead.
*update following response from the owner
It is fair to say that your employee had a right to address the issue, but screaming and belittling an autistic child isn’t the way to go about it. Furthermore, my initial feelings of rage as a protective father are quite normal and my decision to take a more appropriate route is not something I am ashamed of in the slightest. Neither of them damaged anything and nothing was kicked or struck with any kind of force by either child. You responded defensively and completely missed the point. To scream at the child in an aggressive manner, autistic or not is unacceptable and the employee could have delivered the exact same message in a better tone and achieved far better results. I honestly can’t imagine any scenario that aggressively yelling at a person in your store achieves any positive results.
Overpaid for a guitar setup only to receive my guitar back without cleaning, sounding horrible and the cheapest strings on the market…as has just been verified by a Guitar Center tech…
I called on a Saturday to see if a kick drum could be repaired. The gentleman I was speaking with informed the drum specialist won’t be in until Tuesday to take a look at it. Perfectly understandable. I asked how long could the repair could possibly take, which seemed like a reasonable question, but the guy I was speaking with had an entire meltdown! Started talking aggressively and rudely. I told him to relax because it was a simple question. I won’t ever do business with this company. If this is how you react to and treat people for asking simple questions, I can’t imagine the level of service would be any better.
11. Attina’s Music Store Inc
Address: 155 Jonesboro Rd, McDonough, GA 30253 , Ambía , Georgia , United States
Russ knowledge and expertise helped my students’ parent decide on what flute to purchase. What a great day!
Not enough selection.
Quick and efficient service! I called to confirm that had an item in stock, and they did. When I arrived, they had the item at the register, I paid, and left. Perfect! I was there all of 5 minutes!
Kind, thorough, customer service!
They were friendly, but we kinda felt they were stand offish because my husband was asking all kinds of questions and we kinda felt that they was tired of being asked the many questions that my husband asked. They had a low selection of items and we felt that we was being pushed out of the store because he asked us a few times if we was ready to check out. So after a few times of being asked we checked out and left. Not sure if we will be going back or if we will make the hour trip to Fayetteville for all of our needs.
12. Guitar Center
Address: 2480 Briarcliff Rd NE Suite 13, Atlanta, GA 30329 , Ambía , Georgia , United States
Great place of buying musical instruments or just hang around.
The sales associate was very helpful.
They did everything i needed and with a smile
When I attempt to step in and grab a pair of drum sticks, it never seems to happen in less than 5 minutes the way I’d prefer it. 15 minutes per transaction or more every time. None of the cashiers are empowered. They always have to get a manager approval, prior to completing EVERY transaction. Since buying tens of housands of dollars worth of musical equipment since 1995 at Guitar Center one would think, that the efficiency time of purchasing a single item would be easier than it was 23 years ago. It Still The Same 🙁
Missing stock but good place
I went to a metropolitan location hoping to browse the sounds on a Kurzweil production station. No luck. There were a decent selection of boards on display though.
Took 30 minutes to be waited on. Stood at the counter and people that came after me were seen before me
ATL store very rude customer service….was asked by employee to stop playing electric drums bc it was annoying him….won’t come to ATL shop anymore for drum ty
Called to buy a guitar, card in hand was told I was being transferred 10 minutes of hold music and decided clearly they aren’t motivated to sell me a guitar. Hung up called sweetwater…wow 1900 dollars and 3 minutes later had what I wanted. Sad there is just no customer service these days. So whatever guy missed his commission good job. The service I have been getting lately is driving me to sweetwater when I used to exclusively buy guitar center.
13. Maxwell Music Supply
Address: 16 S Public Square, Elberton, GA 30635 , Ambía , Georgia , United States
Got a guitar setup done there and everyone was friendly and knowledgeable. I will definitely be back!
Have been shopping with Stan ever since he first opened in His first location near the Granite Bowl. You always get a good deal with Stan because he’s honest and explains exactly what to expect in his product or service.
I took one of my guitars there for a repair and it ended up taking a month to get it back, even though I was originally told it would be a week, however, that is not a problem because the guitar was a Floyd Rose and he had a bit of trouble finding the correct parts for the repair. So I don’t hold that against him. However, his employees don’t know anything about what’s going on as far as guitar orders and repairs, for instance, a couple days after the initial estimate on time I sent my mom to go pick it up, (I work till 6 and Stan’s closes at 6) and this one employee (Eric I think) charges her for the repair and sends the guitar home, so I get home and pick the guitar up take it out if it’s case and notice, hmmm that guitar wasn’t fixed, in fact it’s in the same state as when I first dropped it off
Then I get a call from Eric saying
“Hey I think I accidentally sent that guitar home without it being fixed, can you bring it back?”
Which I did
Stan was very apologetic about the whole situation
But how do you not look at the guitar before you charge full price
With one string hanging loose and the bridge hanging out, you would think it would be obvious after even a quick peek!
Bottom line
Stan is great
His employees aren’t that great
Slightly above average. If Stan’s there, he’s a wonderful storyteller, and man in general. If he’s out and one of his employees is minding the shop, come back another time
Good selection of guitars and accessories. Keyboards – not so much (there were literally 2 on the floor and not the best quality). Should be called “Stan’s Guitar World.”
Even though I was actually looking for a keyboard, guitar prices were decent and I might have bought one if anyone had tried to help me.
I really wanted to ask about equipment rentals as well since I was only in town for a short while, but again, service wasn’t part of the display.
The staff member at the register was so preoccupied in conversation with another customer that I wasn’t even greeted when I came in, and he didn’t even bother with a “come again soon” when I left angry after about 10min of looking around and waiting.
This is the reason people skip over local small businesses to shop at national chains – like that “other” guitar store
If Stan is not there, dont bother. Just go home.
14. Ponce De Leon Music Center
Address: 1060 Dahlonega Hwy, Cumming, GA 30040 , Ambía , Georgia , United States
Friendly staff, excellent product selection and the best luthier in the area. Max will fix any issue your instrument might have and get you playing again fast. Eddie, Janine and the rest of the instructors make Ponce the best music school in the southeast. Cannot rate this business high enough!
Great place… Well organized!
Awesome! I’ve been a customer for almost 4yrs now. Super friendly staff, very knowledgeable and always helpful.
Muy surtido y los precios muy razonable
Great place to find IEMs, headphones, Guitars, Speakers, Pianos, and more!
They did a good job repairing my son’s guitar and were very nice. However, since that last visit, i have called twice looking for audio equipment and have been told twice that the equipment I need doesn’t and cannot exist. The problem is that while I am on the phone, the equipment is in my hand or in front of me and does in fact exist. Its just worn out and I need a new piece. I am trying to save myself a thirty minute drive to a different music store who always have my parts. Please, please just spare me the lecture and just say sorry, we don’t have that in stock.
Had to make a quick stop to grab a few things. I know it was closing time. I was trying to make it quick. When they started harassing my husband reminding him when they close he left and we took our business somewhere else. Customers want to feel welcomed, not reminded how unfortunate you are to have to lock the door right at 5:00.
The customer service is awful I definitely won’t be back there every again
15. Big House Guitars
Address: 2323 Cheshire Bridge Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30324 , Ambía , Georgia , United States
Great record selection and outstanding customer service!
Really nice atmosphere were my first thoughts. The guys behind the counter were very helpful, knowledgeable yet quite humble. Be sure to ask about the rental studios that they have available in the basement.
Oh yeah, that place is huge!
Very cool vintage guitar shop with an impressive selection. When I first walked in I was welcomed by Russ, the owner from his desk. he was very approachable and knowledgeable. Laid back vibe and just good guys you will want to hang out with.
I have been back to this place a few times now and the pros downstairs set up an old Yamaha acoustic I had sitting around the house – made it sound/play better then ever before for my son. They did a great job and treated it like gold (these guys take the craft seriously).
The entire place is well done.
Great experience.
The staff was very friendly and very attentive. All the gear seems to be in great condition, but overall the prices are a too high for this musician’s budget. Watch out for that undisclosed “checkout fee” 😉
Friendly and professional. Offer a fair price and paid promptly
Beautiful collection of guitars on sale and consignment, plus a pretty decent record shop!
I don’t like writing negative reviews and try to work it out in good faith before. I spent a LARGE sum of money on instruments at Big House Guitars and got burnt. Upon the inspection I (luckily!!) requested, the $$$$$ vintage Les Paul turned out not to be true to representation (only 1 PAF pickup instead of two … oops, sorry for the mix up!). I still decided to proceed and worked out a deal including several trade in instruments. They simply didn’t honor it: I received one guitar with cracks, which they half-assedly tried to pin on UPS before telling me it was like that when I tried it… Nice! They never took my guitars agreed as trade-ins, leaving me on the hook for selling them… I called Russ the store owner many times, who ghosted me, leaving me to receiv lip service by email from the crew. VERY disappointed. It’s a cool shop and the guys seem friendly. But sadly, I wouldn’t buy anything ever again from them. BUYER BEWARE.
Disregard, disrespect and unprofessional…
I had a horrible experience at this store. They told me it would take 7 days to change the strings and when I went to get the guitar it was just as I left it. They didn’t even touch the guitar.
I wanted to buy a Gibson and didn’t buy it because of my bad experience. They missed an opportunity for additional business, and I will never visit this store again.
I do, however, recommend Maple Street Guitars which in my opinion is the best guitar shop in GA. I was very happy with my experience there! They`re professionals.
I can’t say that I have been in this place, and most likely will not ever visit, since the owners think it’s appropriate to use FOUL LANGUAGE in their Craigslist postings. My kids like to peruse the musical instruments ads on Craigslist, and I for one do not appreciate them being exposed to that kind of language on a public and FREE classifieds board. I am currently pursuing the matter with CL.
16. Portman’s Music
Address: 2403 Westgate Dr, Albany, GA 31707 , Ambía , Georgia , United States
Helpful staff, had a great selection of things in the store. Prices were great as well.
This has helped me in middle school great review! I played a clarinet by the way.
Great music store. While I have purchased several instruments and various equipment over the years, and always very satisfied, it’s not my best compliment.
Customer service is beyond great. Everyone are always helpful and patient. Hey, it’s a music store. Musicians kinda like to just hang out in a music store, just getting a ooey gooey feeling being surrounded by music toys. Ninety % of the time buying nothing. I still get welcomed time after time after time. Being musicians, the employees fully understand. I am Gratefull for this store in Albany.
I wanted to know is this the type of music store that gives singing lessons. I’m trying to find a vocal coach
Cannot say much. Open late close early and Sunday. There are few music supply stores in this part of central and south Georgia and none seem to try to cater to people who have regular jobs and cannot get there early to buy their stuff.
Portman’s music in Albany was great helpful and friendly. This is the second school term with me renting my daughters flute. I have been having trouble with the RUDENESS when I call in inquiring about my bill through the Savannah number. When I kept asking questions it always ends with “you can just return the instrument.” I called Wednesday to make a payment and ended up getting hung up on because I was told the same thing and guess what today they called my daughter school saying call them immediately! (Mr Rogers) why call my child school she doesn’t make the payment even the school was upset about the message when clearly they have my number and I answer and return calls when they try to debit my card and it’s locked I unlock it and make the payment but lately no calls just $100 payments taken off when I pay $33 a month.

A few years ago, when I was ready to buy a good ukulele, I found Uke Republic online and was pleased to discover that Atlanta’s ukulele dealer was also a ukulele fanatic. My experience is the same as that of many ukers in the Atlanta area. A single transaction led to a solid friendship. The McQueens have built the business by being enthusiastic, honest, informative, generous and dependable. There is no downside to dealing with Uke Republic. It’s almost certain to be one of your most rewarding shopping experiences.
This Ukulele shop is inside an old – refurbished thread mill. If you are into architecture, you will enjoy the building. Uke Republic has a great variety of Ukulele’s at a price for every wallet, and the owners are friendly and helpful. We bought a great Ukulele that works for both mom and daughter.
We are so very lucky to have this store in the Atlanta area!!!
When I was interested in buying my first Ukulele, I had done some research online about purchasing a quality instrument and found UKE Republic. I emailed Mike about a few I was interested in and he responded right away. So thankful I can physically go to a store to try a variety of ukuleles. The store is such a joy to go into – so much to look at and play with! Mike (the owner) is extremely helpful and energetic about each ukulele he carries. I love how he knows the history and story of all the companies, luthiers, and woods related to each one. My husband and I enjoy our time getting to talk with him.
I had a mixed experience. Through Uke Republic, I was able to get an electric ukulele (which are currently on worldwide backorder). Unfortunately, the one I received had a humbucker that wasn’t correctly attached. Mike sent me some screws to fix it but I’m not familiar enough with ukes to have done it on my own. I ended up paying to have a brand new ukulele fixed. I am sure that if I lived closer, Mike could have fixed this pretty quickly. This is the downside of mail order ukes. Hoping to visit his shop after the pandemic.
Ordered an Ohana O’Nino through UKE Republic. I went with this company because of their fast turnaround time AND included setup.Turn around time was fast but when it arrived it appeared to not be setup. I am very disappointed.
While I hear great things about this store I must say after two experiences with them I am extremely dissatisfied and would not recommend them. The 1st contact, I was in the market for a $500-$1000 ukulele and sent emails to ask a few questions. I never heard back and eventually purchased through Uke Like Pros who were extremely responsive. After my purchase I sent one more email to Uke Republic informing them they lost a sale due to their poor response. I got an immediate response informing me the other emails had gone to junk mail this email from the same address got answered immediately. Strange! I went ahead and gave them another try and ordered a ukulele via their online store. There was an issue with the initial shipping address I gave them and I gave an updated correct address. I was assured they would correct it. It has now been about 2 week and it arrived at the wrong address and I now have no way of getting it. I sent an email telling them they sent it to the wrong location. Big surprise but NO RESPONSE. Worst experience I have had yet with an online music store. I would not recommend them!
I wish I could go to their store. I have ordered strings from them a number of times. 2 times they never came and they determined they were lost in the mail. They did resend and I did get them. More recently I ordered another set of strings and they haven’t arrived and it’s been over 2 weeks. They are checking into it but haven’t heard back yet. So probably my last order with uke Republic. 🙁
The only place I trust for my music needs and work on my guitars.
Really friendly dude. Didnt catch his name but he’s the one with the strats. Easy 5 stars.
Always professional service and always got my Ernie Ball Power Slinky strings, and a few nylon pickets to go.
This store is great if you’re looking for pianos, guitars, or some band instruments. I’m disappointed that they don’t carry more of a variety of hand drums. The people are very helpful & nice there.
Pretty down to earth store.
Low selection on music equipment, little pricey.. $$$
I had my guitar amp on consignment for almost a year at the store and finally had to come pick it up as I was moving away. When I asked if anyone had any interest they said they had plenty but there were no offers. At no point had I received any calls of what people were offering. Also when I picked it up I thought the amp had been damaged as there was barely any sound coming out of my 120w monster. They had no idea what was going on and only offered to have it looked at by a tech. I brought it home instead of letting them keep it any longer. Only after five seconds of looking in the back I identified they had connected the speakers to the line out instead of the power outputs which could have permanently damaged my amplifier. This store has no idea on how to sell anything or even how to set up, operate or even maintain equipment.
Not happy with how Ive been treated Was sold a Teton guitar – was told how great a guitar it was. I traded my Martin- it has been a nightmare since. Ive been thru Two Teton guitars and all have failed to work properly. I was told I would be called back and this store wont honor anything they say
Buyer Beware!! They do not stand behind what they sell!! Worse experience Ive had with a music store in quite some time.
If they all you guys say they are then why haven’t they answer their phone and I been calling since they opened at 10:00
