This was the best music shop I’ve ever been to. The style and atmosphere of the whole place is comfy and serious about music. The people working here truly care about the arts that they offer and are helpful and friendly. I took guitar lessons here and the instructor is an incredibly talented player as well as teacher, it was easy to understand what he was introducing me to and he was very helpful through my handful of sessions. He talked to me one day all about the theories and breakdowns of the instrument. He really cared about making me better and made it very easy to digest and learn from. I usually write really formally for no reason and I didn’t necessarily want to call people by name because I don’t know if that’s inappropriate to do on a google review but this is the best music shop I’ve ever been inside and I couldn’t thank the people behind it all enough for helping me. 11/10 place you should be here even if you don’t like music, keep up the beautiful work here and I hope you all prosper and thrive this year. Thank you again, so much for being here.
Had 2 guitars that I needed strung; they got them in & out in the same day! I was Very impressed! Customer service was Awesome… Jack made sure I had everything I needed and wanted. And thier selection in store is Huge… Instruments etc. Will definitely be returning and Highly recommend.
thicc
They could stand to carry a lot more music.
Large selection
Great selection for a small store. Staff is very helpful.
Oldest guy there was being very rude and threw an the amp cord that i was using while testing a guitar on the ground

Fun time with the concert but some goers weren’t considerable towards various concert goers but none the less I had a fun time
Nice place n helpful staff
Strange Night gave me happiness for a few hours
Nice friendly place.
Bought tickets online had flyer and ticket showing doors open at 630 walk in and am told doors dont open until 730. Will see how band is
The rudest people I have ever met. My partner and I were leaving to go to a movie and the guy that works there kept challenging my partner to prove he can play. And then proceeded to verbally harass us as we were leaving. He continued throwing out rude comments. Seriously do not go here, worst people ever!
Need more Metal bands @ this venue (Rap Suck)
4. Lost Dutchman Music Company
Address: 1000 W Apache Trail Suite 125, Apache Junction, AZ 85120 , Apache County , Arizona , United States
Great place, I bought a classical guitar there a while ago
This place is a delight. Nice people and real gear. I second the comment in another review, please support this local business. We need to do what we can to help these guys.
James is one of the most knowledgeable guys in the music buisness and is always willing to help out and teach me something new! Thanks man!!!
Friendly people. Both knowledgeable and reasonable priced.
I moved down here at the request of the owner with a very small incentive, the very least he could do. During my tenure, I learned he does not pay employee taxes… I also learned that he was spying on me in his adjacent office via webcam…I have reason to believe he was instrumental in my being robbed of $40,000 worth of My personal music gear As I was informed by my girl that he was present in my home when I wasn’t, as was Sam. I should add that Sam That does repairs repeatedly did substandard work when it came to setting up action and truss adjustments which I had to rectify myself. I gave my all to help them build a business and brought Sam in who ultimately stabbed me in the back which caused me to lose all respect for him. I gave them one star because there was no lower rating available. I strongly discourage any self-respecting or serious musicians from doing business with them…(I should also add that in the 2 years since I’ve severed ties completely with Ken, he has persisted in making snide comments in an attempt to berate and mock me to a ridiculously immature end… He once was a friend, but his recent insinuations reveal his true character. Paybacks are not my thing, but in this case it is more than warranted. Let the chips fall where they may, this is your doing for A. the above treatment of me, and B. continuing to use My name in a derogatory fashion and mocking me in your posts. I would recommend Milano music in Mesa, they have a fantastic luthier and repair shop. They are top notch.
(In response to Ken’s response )As for the response by Ken himself saying if he sued me for libel he would win, that is a ridiculous response. A review be it good or bad is entirely reasonable for somebody to post publicly based on their experience with the business in question, and bad behavior does not get rewarded. These are my feelings and thoughts and people can judge based on their own thoughts and feelings. Had I not been treated this way, this review would not exist but it does because it’s true.
You take the good with the bad Ken, and it appears here that your own truth is a bitter pill for you to swallow. Nevertheless, I have to forgive you for this all and that isn’t for you, it’s for me. I edited the review for more concise content when I cooled off a bit after reading your “Post James” comment.
I would have loved nothing more than for this to have been a positive experience, but it wasn’t. I was thrown under the bus by you in such a disrespectful way that nothing is reconcilable outside of my forgiving you and that is for my own serenity and well being. Lesson learned.
5. Arizona Music Pro
Address: 122 E Rte 66, Flagstaff, AZ 86001 , Apache County , Arizona , United States
Very good customer service, I frequently go here for music stuff, Jack was really nice.
So far I’ve had experiences with sales, service AND music lessons.
I’ll start with the lessons. If you live anywhere near this place, go see Neil and get on his schedule or have him figure out the right fit for you (I drive up from Sedona and it is worth my time). I’ve learned an incredible amount in just three months. Don’t get me wrong, I practice… but knowing major and minor diatonic, pentatonic, melodic minor, whole step and some other funky scales in every key plus the 7 (5) modes and when to use them plus hundreds of chord voicings, triads, etc. its mind blowing. I am at this point what you might call a lifer.
As for service… my setups have been spot on. That’s all I can say. I haven’t needed any repairs, but if I do I’m coming here.
I also bought a guitar at this place. No hassle no pressure sort of environment which was really nice. I also got a deal.
5/5 stars all around for this place
なかなかの品揃えだがわざわざここで買い物することもない。
This shop has a wide variety of instruments, and some beautiful violins that I was able to try out. The staff is very friendly and helpful there, and the shop is organized, clean, and spacious. Now to save up for that violin!
Brought a PRS in to have the intonation adjusted. Quoted me one price, and upon picking it up, they charged an additional $15, and nobody could answer why. They said the “luthier” (and I use that term lightly) would call me and tell me why the price was more. That never happened. Upon getting the guitar home, the strings were set so low they were absolutely unplayable. Fret buzz on every note. The intonation was off on all six strings. And the worst part is one of my bridge screws was lost and replaced with a screw that doesn’t match. Complete waste of money. First and last time they get my business. Sub standard work, and poor customer service.
To follow up… Neil called me several times to follow up and make things right. I missed the call each time but he left messages stating he would correct the problems. Unfortunately I’ve moved away from the area so unable to take him up on his offer, but it is much appreciated. He was willing to go out of his way to make it right for me.
Very rude and not very good customer service. Very bad and rude when it comes to returns or money back issues. They were unwilling to do anything about my money when I was unable to come in for lessons.
The instrument selection is pretty good. Prices are crazy, but that is normal for the area. My problem is with the repair center, since they botched a split repair after having it for 3 weeks. When I got it back, it had several additional cracks from the repair process, which opened up less than a day later. If the issue is cracking due to low humidity, doesn’t it make sense to humidify the guitar before attempting repairs? Save your money and drive to Phoenix, or do it yourself.
I am a female bassist, and yes this is an important detail. I came in here awhile ago before a gig in a hurry to buy a case for my bass and accidentally grabbed a guitar case instead (it was in the bass section for some reason and I was in too much of a hurry to double check). So I come back the next day to exchange it for a bass case and the cashier said to me “how did you not know your boyfriend plays bass?” I’ve literally never been so shocked by the audacity of a comment before and I think about it almost daily. So yeah, I haven’t been back since and will never go back.
6. The Music Store
Address: 2630 W Baseline Rd, Mesa, AZ 85202 , Apache County , Arizona , United States
Very helpful staff……well stocked….reasonable instrument rental rates.
I love this little music shop! I support local business whenever possible, and always prefer to come here when I need music equipment or a repair done on my electric-acoustic guitar. I’m extremely protective of my guitar and each time I get work done on it, they do an impeccable job for a very fair price. I trust the repair shop folks here 100% and appreciate their attention to detail and their excellent customer service. Highly recommend!
They are one of the best. They sell the “Note for note” books for serious musicians These are really nice. Also they know where things are at. If you are in a hurry they will hold your hand & walk you there. If you aren’t in a hurry they leave you alone. I really like this store
Great verify of sheet music and ukuleles and an awesome luthier.
The instruments we have rental have been pretty worn but still work well and it is an OK deal for the price. Customer service is helpful and friendly. We have been pleased with our violin rental over this past year and will continue renting here into the next school year.
Fui una vez a ver las guitars
They have nothing for the drummer! Maybe some sheet music? But nothing more!
Absolutely the worst service I’ve ever had, 3 people working and not one of them tried to help me whatsoever and 2 of them didn’t even acknowledge I was in the store! Very poor service
I’m renting a clarinet and they gave it uncleaned (had old spit) and with broken parts. Horrible customer service. My tried fixing the first rental, but after a week, they just returned it without fixing anything.
7. Music & Arts
Address: 7040 E Hampton Ave, Mesa, AZ 85209 , Apache County , Arizona , United States
Called to see if they had what I needed, quick and kind service. Thanks guys.
Great place. Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. Experienced and skilled instructors.
They were kind enough to let us jam on their amp and electric guitar
Great place to purchase or repair an instrument. Alwayd friendly and provides suggestions based on cost for anything the sale or service. Strongly recommend Music and Arts.
Staff is very helpful and experienced!
NEGATIVE STARS IS MORE LIKE IT!!! I have had the WORST experience dealing with the customer service from Music and Arts. Everytime me or my husband try to call and resolve our bill we get told a different story! NOONE has helped us resolve the issue and it’s been over 4 months now. The amount of money I have paid Music and Arts already, I could have boughten an instrument. NOT worth the hassel and absolute HORRIBLE customer service!!! Save your money and time and go somewhere else!!
I don’t necessarily have a grievance with this store in particular but the company in general. When my children did not return in March due to COVID there was zero communication from the company as to what to do if we were currently renting from them. I called one day at the end of March to try and return the instrument and they said unless you can make it here by 5 pm tonight we are closing indefinitely due to Covid. They did not offer me any assistance or let me know there was a customer service line to call. I assumed this was a privately owned company. I tried calling today to see if I can return the instrument (we’ve been quarantined since March) and receive some sort of reimbursement due to the circumstances. The guy at the store told me there was a separate customer service number (oh NOW they tell me) that I would have to call to see if I can get a refund. I called and was told I should have called earlier to get my payments stopped and there was nothing they could do to get reimbursed for the months I have been paying for when I couldn’t return the instrument due to COVID and being quarantined. I don’t believe this is great customer service as almost every other company is offering Covid assistance and they will do nothing but keep my money.
Update- they just called me back and said if I return the instrument I could get half of my last months payment back. So I’ve been paying $27 a month for 4 months on an instrument that’s not even being used and they offer me roughly $13 dollars back. What a joke.
Spent my money elsewhere because of the masks requirement.
8. Sacred Rites
Address: N San Francisco St, Flagstaff, AZ 86001 , Apache County , Arizona , United States
Very eclectic items; singing bowls, drums, other instruments, statues and much else. There is a sound bed that can only be experienced.
Love this place! A truly unique store offering many sound healing instruments such as his line of monochords. If you’re lucky enough to meet the owner Kelly there, you are in for a treat. His passion and knowledge for the instruments and healing are vast. He turned our visit into quite an experience with an impromptu demo in his healing chair. Super amazing!! We also sat and exchanged a few stories and experiences that had us all laughing! I purchased a Sansula from him and can’t play it enough! If we could give him 10☆’s we would!!!
One of the coolest sound shops i have ever visited in my existence! Wonderful experience and the owner is an absolute vocalist! He sat me and my partner down on the harp chairs for sound healing and man could he really knows how to work those instruments, he is very friendly with super interesting shop full of beautiful items.. at reasonable pricing if you understand the craftsmanship of most od those items. Hope to see you again one day and re visit such an amazing shop
Unusual instruments
9. John’s Corner Music Shop
Address: 8680 AZ-69, Prescott Valley, AZ 86314 , Apache County , Arizona , United States
Some of my strings were buzzing, so I dropped my guitar off at John’s Corner for a change of strings and a setup. After oiling the fretboard and changing the strings, Chris and Jack discovered that the buzzing had gone away. When I came back for my guitar, I was only charged $10 (the price of the strings). They could have easily told me they had made minor adjustments to the neck and charged me another $25 for the setup, but they didn’t.
Let me add that $25 for a setup is by far the best price anywhere in Prescott. I’ll definitely be checking John’s Corner first for any of my future music needs.
A local music store ran by a knowledgeable owner. John has good instruments for sale at decent prices. If you have any questions regarding guitars, amplifiers, or their many accessories John can answer them.
I highly recommend checking out this shop if you’re in the market for a new (used) guitar, amp, or ukulele. My partner and I had our instruments stolen out of our van on a road trip and the folks in this shop really hooked us up. They’re SO nice, helpful, and the instruments we got are in excellent condition. High quality for an accessible price. Thank you so much, John’s Corner Music Shop.
Low quality gear that is way over priced.
wouldn’t give it even one star! I just went in to grab some guitar strings and was never once acknowledged the whole time I was there. Not even a greeting. needless to say I walked out. Not sure what the deal is in this town but I have yet to encounter any sort of professionalism with the businesses here!!!
10. Black Mountain Guitar Co
Address: 6220 E Cave Creek Rd, Cave Creek, AZ 85331 , Apache County , Arizona , United States
Wow THE COLLEST GUITAR STORE .SMALL WELCOME HOME INVITE. JUST NEED CUP OF COFFE WOULD HAVE STAYED THE NIGHT
CHEXK IT OUT
Ed, is an absolutely great guy to work with. He is very knowledgeable in his field. He actually listens to you, and then gives you suggestions. Ed’s ability to work, and tune the guitars is second to none. Super clean and well organized store, along with being very welcoming. He has never pressured me to buy anything, however still spends the time with you.
Very happy he sells my favorite guitar, PRS.. Will be doing a ton of business with Ed. He also an awesome in house instructor, Chuck Hall is amazing.
Great owner, great service,Excellent guitars and amps.
They know their stuff. Good selection of used merchandise. Rustic building.
First time there and 50 miles from where I live but got a strong referral. Interesting selection of amps and guitars from a small modest shop. Owner was very accommodating and offered a great deal on what I was considering. Will likely go back and get serious!
Guitar shop that sells some brands like Collins, Groover Jackson Guitars, Paul Reed Smith and Fender.
There were some cool guitars but not worth going there just to look around at what they have. You must have to order things to this place maybe? In which case, I’ll order it to my house. Not sure if it’s always like this, but it was an absolute mess when we went there and smelled horrific of smoke and dust.
11. Brindley’s Music Center
Address: 836 N Arizona Ave, Chandler, AZ 85225 , Apache County , Arizona , United States
When visiting the store for a repair on my Sop Sax I noticed the most beautiful Yanagisawa Tenor. It only took one look……. and I knew, I took it down and held it in my hands. It was at that moment I knew my music would be a lot sweeter and my horn sound would blossom to a level that I could hear but was too far out of range to acheive. So I arranged to take it home to enjoy the smooth sound that would sure to caress my ears. The quality of the sound from low B flat to well into the Altissimo top end was effordless. The tech was very professional and my sales guy was friendly and professional. The owner took time to share some great music stories. I found a great group of new friends. If they sold beer I would hang out there during the week. Stop on by you will not be disappointed. One happy saxman. Oh yeah you know I bought the horn.
Helped me, a service disabled vet, find a guitar I could use with my disability.
Wonderful experience! Helpful staff. Will be back to purchase a guitar! Very professional store and not overwhelming like the big boxers
Good music store for those looking for something specific…not much to look at for those who want to look around or window shop (especially for drum equip). Other than that, it’s a good local music shop. They used to make their own brand of drumsticks, which were GREAT, but last time I went they said they no longer make them. Bummer!
It was very awesome service but milanos was cheaper books were 8.00 and care kits were10.00 and at brindleys it was almost 16.00 and for book it was 10
Fix it for the most part. Still feels as if the instrument is leaking from somewhere on the lower register. Still hard to push low notes without struggle.
Sold my 6 month old Guild OM240 cuz I was struggling financially. I paid $425 for it at Bizarre Guitar. Owner tells me there’s major work needing to be done cuz wood was dry and neck was tweaked. He said he’d hafta put in humidifier for couple weeks and he MIGHT be able to repair. He offered me $150. I had to plead with him to give me $160…The very next day he listed it on Offer up for $375. Call it smart business. Call it shrewdness.
I call it dishonesty. Only Guild I could ever afford and I’m humiliated. Regret going here.
First off, I want to be upfront, I intended to rent a bell kit form this store for my 5th grade daughter. I didn’t get that far, so I think it’s only fair to disclose, this review is entirely based on my first impression.
Friday I spoke to a woman on the phone who was very helpful. I ended up reserving the bell kit online to pick up at the store on Saturday. I’ll admit I never checked their closing time and I, unfortunately, arrived in their parking lot on Saturday at 5:03PM. They closed at 5:00PM. I have my very excited 5th grader in the car, so I thought, I’m not going to give up, yet. There were customers still exiting the store. I grabbed the door and went in as one of them exited. I went to the checkout counter where I explained my situation briefly to the man still checking customers out. He made it seem like it was something they could possibly do, until a woman walked up and immediately shut it down. She explained they could not check me out today and I would have to come back on Monday when they opened at 10:00AM. Again, I want to be clear, it was my fault for being late. They had already closed. I completely understand why they shouldn’t have to help me out, but they were clearly still checking people out, so the registers weren’t closed. All I’m saying is, how nice would that have been if they did help. It would have been a really nice gesture that could have gone a long way. I still have two more kids coming up behind my 5th grader that will most likely want to be in their 5th grade band, too. Plus, I’m a mom and mom’s talk. I would have definitely spread the word about a place that went out of their way to help me. It’s a shame. I’m all about supporting family owned businesses. They are usually the ones that make these types of exceptions for people.
Expensive and poor service. took my beautiful holton Bb trumpet their to have the 2nd valve slide replaced. it is a standard mass produced turmpet, ans WAS worth about $650. it was beautiful with a sparkeling finish. they lost my order and it took 3 weeks when I called them to inquire about it. i was told $40 to fix the slide (found out later that part only cost $15) and it would take a week. they chem washed it, wich i said to not do and it RUINED my trumpet. it looks like crap, their is 3 dents in my bell where their weren’t any before and after i called at the 3 week point it still took another 2 for them to get around to fixing it. in the end, they ruined my finish, put the wroung part on, and dented my trumpet multiple times. O AND they expected me to pay $85 for it all. they chem washed it because they forgot to write down the repair needed and assumed it was a was, and they charged me for their mistake. Good at smooth talking but anyone can seem like they know what their saying. they were horrabile and unless you want to over pay and have your instrument ruined, dont go here. o and my sisted paid $1000 for a flute which was “new”…the saudering from when it was returned to them from the last owner broke in about a week and they repaired it wroung 3 times before they got it right where it broke again 3 days later.
12. Milano Music
Address: 38 W Main St, Mesa, AZ 85201 , Apache County , Arizona , United States
Its what I remember a music store being. Back before guitar center took over everything. Theres a repair shop, lessons, brass and woodwind instruments. Along with the drums, guitar, bass. Prices seem fair with what I remember from other music stores. Employees that I talked to seemed they actually loved music and weren’t just working a job.
Wow! Awesome music store with a literal WALL of guitars!
Super friendly staff, and easy instruments rentals.
BONUS: ESA approved vendor if your family is taking part of that program!
Amazing variety of musical instruments and helpful people.
8/24/2016 @ 5:00 pm
Been on the Death hold 23 minutes.
Been answered by 3 different associates, all who are “checking” to see if they have a
Tuba available for rent. Not one has returned.
:/ advised the last associate I had 2 other associates checking with no answer……and he put me on hold!
Minute #29 – Kind of still here to see how long it will take to get an answer.
Minute #34 – hold Music has stopped I think I’m Done. :/
Minute #37 – Hi y’all still here. Not to many options for Tuba rentals so I’m holding.
Minute #39 – Hung up and called back, got answering machine telling me they SHOULD be open.
Minute #40 – One more try, Yay Kailen answered in “Instrument Rentals” She saved this review and earned
Them 2 stars more than I was going to give. Very knowledgable, knew the inventory, explained
the rental program and invited me to come down and pick one out that would best fit my 10
year old.
I live in Peoria but just might make the drive to visit Kailen, closer competitor has only one in stock and
It’s a bit beat up.
The employees are friendly and attentive. They are also knowledgeable and willing to explain the differences and history of each brand.
Found one of the pieces of music that I was looking for that I was looking for. They did not have a standard sax solo that my husband needed. It’s kind of hit-or-miss.
I went to get a guitar part, they sold me the wrong one, I called and the person who answered the phone said they would do an even swap, as the prices were THE SAME! I got there after walking 3 miles in the rain, explained the phone call to the person in their Parts Department, he found the right part, but wanted to CHARGE ME FOR THE PART! He refused to believe they sold me the wrong part, and still charged me for the replacement. If I wasn’t in a time crunch, I would have gone elsewhere. Will NOT be returning to that store for ANY reason EVER AGAIN!
They have charged my card for my brothers Instrument twice even after I told them to take my card info off the account. Obviously they lied about doing so because they just today charged me again. They can’t keep their files in order and because of them my bank account is all screwed up.
Guy running the shop acts like he’s being bothered if you ask for help to find anything you are looking for. Been out of a certain size of drum pad for a year now. He claimed they had just sold out and were on order then asked if we wanted to be put on the list to get notified when it came in. Never got a call.
13. Music Masters
Address: 6990 E Shea Blvd Suite 110, Scottsdale, AZ 85254 , Apache County , Arizona , United States
This place is absolutely amazing. Thank you so much for always helping my daughter understand and fix her flute.
Very friendly and professional staff with a sense of humor. I have to have an excuse to keep coming back, right? lol
Got guitar and keyboards. Good service.
Nice music shop. Looking into violin refresher lessons.
I’ve visited the store several times while shopping for a cello. The selection is limited, but they have more on the website you can order from. The staff have always been patient with my many questions as well as willing to go to any lengths to find in-depth answers on finishes, woods and construction. I’d recommend them.
