Always helpful, personal service. Great selection of fiddles in the vault! Staff has always been knowledgeable and friendly.
We have been customers of Golden Music for over 10 years. My daughter played the violin and loved the friendly and knowledgeable staff at the store. We always recommend the Golden Music store to our friends looking for a violin or another instrument to rent or buy.
Great music teachers! Shop has all a band parent could want and a very friendly staff to boot.
Great selection but not the best music store in Denver area.
I’m renting a violin for my daughter for elementary orchestra with Golden Music. At the rental night they were very helpful, informative and patient. One of the owners sized my daughter to make sure that moving her up from her 3/4 to a full sized violin was the right move and then got us all set up! They also deliver to the school or even your house if you don’t live near their store. I’ll update or add a review as we go since we are just beginning to work with them but a great help and service so far!
They have lots of instruments but seemed pricey to me. I’d probably try here if I needed repairs though. They have a robust workshop on site, but I thankfully haven’t needed to make use of it yet.
I love the staff here – they are lovely- but the quality of the cello I bought from them is terrible. The back keeps popping off of it and they charge me each time to glue it back. I took it to another repair shop to ask for help and they said it was not worth fixing because it was such a poor quality instrument and was garbage. It was $3000. The back popped off again today. I’m really sad I went there. Avoid.
Thank you for the response by the owner and that answer might make sense except that I have another cello and 2 violins and a bunch of other instruments right by the cello in question (which is used daily and we have instrument humidifiers) but nothing else spontaneously pops the back off. It’s cardboard.
The back popped off again this week and cannot be fixed. The endpin is also totally faulty and slips. We had both fixed several times there and at another shop. We paid over 3K for this cello plus another $1000 in repeated repairs and please be aware this is what will happen if you go here. We took good care of it and have it in the same environment as all of our other instruments which are functioning perfectly. I have only had one instrument repaired ever and it’s this cello over and over and over again and now it cannot be fixed.
They have not helped us.
Do not rent from this place! I have read other reviews and it seems I am not alone when it comes to getting ripped off by them in their so-called accounting practices. When called out on his misleading tactics, Alex the owner childishly threw a fit and told me to get out of the store. If even one person reads this and rents their instrument from another store – I will feel good knowing I have saved them from the nightmare I went through renting from Golden Music.
We rented a cello from Golden Music through the school orchestra program. They were accommodating and helpful through the rental process. Now, the trouble begins when you return an instrument. I sent two emails with no response so I called to arrange pickup. The cello was picked up as scheduled from my child’s school. Subsequently, I had an employee come to my home to pick up the cello a week after it was picked up from the school. Then received several calls from different employees to arrange pickup. One of the employees was quite frustrated at me because the cello was already picked up. What’s concerning is how disorganized the store is when it comes to records. I expect a store that deals with large school district to have excellent records and customer service. Should we rent again, it won’t be through this store.
2. Spaceman Guitars
Address: 9797 W Colfax Ave Ste 1B, Lakewood, CO 80215 , Applewood , Colorado , United States
Spaceman Guitars gets amazing reviews but I wanted to check it out for myself. I stopped in to see about a set-up on my new acoustic guitar. I spoke with Chris, the owner. He examined the guitar. He then clearly, and simply explained to me everything that needed to be done. He said he could do it in a couple of days which is really fast but I had a schedule conflict so Chris dropped everything and did a full set up for me in about an hour. That’s was totally unexpected and amazingly awesome!
Chris did great work! His prices are fantastic, and he is a super nice guy. So I guess all the other reviews were right. Thanks again for the incredible service Chris!
I brought a Fender player precision to Chris with some aftermarket parts in hopes he could duplicate the $12,500 limited edition Phil Lynott tribute bass. Not only is it now 100% identical, it sounds even better after he installed the mods and gave it a perfect set-up..
This isn’t the first time Chris has worked on my gear, and it won’t be the last.
Thanks for an awesome build, Chris!
(The image with the white pickguard is a “before” picture added for comparison)
They have been amazing with pricing and helpful advice.
Not the best guitar store ever
Did a good switch repair for me. Took longer than he said he would minus 1 star. His records are spendy but he does good trades for credit. I will be back for sure.
Nice place. Had what I needed.
Not that hot
I dropped this off late October to change a nut on my Fender. I included the parts. I’ve been reaching out, over and over; Communications far and few between. Btw, I was told it would be ‘a couple weeks.’ I’ve shared an excerpt do of our texts to illustrate my point.
My guitar sat for 2 weeks without repair (wiring, nothing nuts), no call, no eta… Finally went and picked it up… Nothing done. Complete waste of time.
3. Rockley Music Center
Address: 4880 N Robb St #1, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033 , Applewood , Colorado , United States
The Rockley Music Center has very good after-sale service. They follow up very well. Their technician, Michael, did a fantastic job on the repair of my piano.
Love my new piano from Rockley Music Center! Thanks for helping me find my match.
Nice people
Great place to get musical instruments anywhere from pianos to keyboards to violins, and guitars. My brother has a couple guitars from Rockley’s which have served him well. My wife just bought a Roland Keyboard from here which was an excellent price for excellent quality!
Chris was very helpful when I was having issues with my piano. He promptly got a technician out to my house. At first he did not discover the real issue with the piano, so it took some prompting on my part to get the technician to return and take a closer look at the piano. (This is the reason why I gave this review only four out of five stars) But after the technician came out again and took a closer look, he discovered the soundboard issue and Chris promptly ordered me a replacement piano. He also made sure to look it over himself personally to see to it that I was getting a very good replacement, better than my original piano. After it has been tuned, the piano is sounding beautiful and I am very appreciative to Chris for all of his extra effort in making me a happy musician once again. Thank you Chris and Rockleys.
this is the closest music store to my house. What a shame, because I wont go there ever again. I wasn’t greeted when I walked through the door. I got a snobby attitude from pretty much everybody, and I had to greet the guy behind the counter because he was too busy playing his guitar. Anyway I went there for some finger tape and some guitar picks. What ever happened to 5 picks for a dollar? Here they charge $5.65 for 12. anyway they didn’t have the correct size finger tape for my violin.
Stopped in to look at pianos. The sales person made this an extremely uncomfortable experience. How do they expect to sell a piano when they don’t even like to let customers play them? It’s a big purchase, and something you have to try and compare before buying. The sales person kept hovering and telling me prices, implying I couldn’t afford them, and even started obnoxiously banging out a tune to drown me out because he didn’t like me playing a pricy model. (I’m not a pro, but I don’t suck, Hehe) It’s sad there are so few piano stores left, but unless this one treats potential customers better, it won’t be missed.
Also checked out string prices for my violin. Don’t bother. Try somewhere else or online.
Rockley Music has a great selection of sheet music and high-end instruments. They also have some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced any where.
I drove by Rockley Music today and saw the “STORE CLOSING” sign on the building. I remember going into Rockley music with my parents when I was a kid. My dad still plays guitar and enjoyed going into Spaceman Guitars to see Chris Thomas. When I saw the sign, it concerned me that Spaceman Guitars was closing as well. Thankfully, I found out that they had just moved down the road to their own building located on the north east corner of Colfax and Kipling, right next to Metro PCS. It is sad to see that after almost 70 years Rockley’s is closing their store, but happy to know that Spaceman Guitars is still around for our family, but specifically for my dad because he likes the personal attention he gets from Chris.
4. TR Music & Voice Lessons
Address: 13909 W 23rd Ave, Golden, CO 80401 , Applewood , Colorado , United States
My son is now with another instructor and he is loving the program. He’s typically shy and quiet and now he walks in there pumped ready to jam! I catch him practicing all the time at home because his teacher is so encouraging and my son really wants to wow him.
Personally, she is more than my music teacher; she is a close friend of mine. I have grown to know her and she is genuinely concerned with the welfare of her students on a musical and personal level.
TR Lessons has been a revelation! As a hesitant singer, my nerves were quickly eased by the supportive instructor. Now, I’m gaining confidence and honing my vocal skills. No regrets – it’s been an amazing journey!
Best experience I’ve ever had when purchasing a guitar! Every person there treats you like family and their prices and selection are excellent. Not even a hint of the usual condescension I’ve gotten as a woman from some of the employees at the chain guitar stores – I wish I would’ve found these guys a long time ago.
This is an awesome family-owned store with a great selection of nice guitars and drums. The staff is awesome and the most knowledgeable people you’ll find just about anywhere.
Want an 18 year olds professional opinion? Then guitar center is for you. You want a real professionals opinion and expertise? Come here.
Very helpful. These guys rock! They are very knowledgeable and go out of their way to make a customer happy. Highly recommend
The best
Tim is very responsive and always wants to help. If he doesn’t have it, chances are he can get it.
They had a decent selection of items, but the store was a little claustrophobia inducing. The staff were helpful/friendly enough.
I’m a beginner so I went in looking for the ibanez bass guitar starter pack. Everything went smoothly (other than when I asked them for any begginers advice they have and was ignored twice) and I was happy until I got home and pulled it out of the box to start playing. That’s when I realized the bass to amp cable was missing. So I called them and they got me a new after I had to drive back to the store. Got home again, hooked up the bass to the amp, then realized I needed to tune it. The electronic tuner it was supposed to come with was missing. I decided I need to take a full inventory. I didn’t think this was necessary because of this stores great reputation. It was also missing the shoulder strap. I had to drive back one more to return the item. Upon returning, they blamed the manufacturer and never offered anything to make up for the lost time, gas money, and frustration I experienced. I decided not to leave this review as I continued my search for my first bass set up. I found a nice bass but now i needed an amp. So after a week, I called them to give them another chance (on black friday) and asked them if there was any deal they can give me since they already gave me the run around once and if I drive all the way to 44th I want it to be worth it. The response was that his cheapest amps start at $100. I am now deciding to leave this review in hopes of 1. Improving their customer service 2. Making a begginers buyer beware as i felt like I was treated poorly compared to the other customers who weren’t begginers. Their reviews say friendly but I felt no friendliness during my whole experience 3. If u purchase from here, check that they don’t rip u off by making a full inventory before leaving the premises.
Bought a Schecter Tempest custom which was “supposed” to come with American made Seymour Duncan pickups. After I purchased the guitar they emailed me saying there was an “issue” with my pickups, and that they needed to be replaced. Yeah; they replaced them alright…with Duncan Disigned pickups…..scumbags.
Have and never will do business with again! BUYER BEWARE!!!!
I purchased a guitar from this company for my husband, it was a 7 string Schecter Omen which was something he had been wanting for quite some time so I purchased it as a surprise gift for him. He used the guitar once and the next time he went to play it wasn’t working. We took it to a company that fixes guitars and they informed us that it was a used guitar.. I paid full price for a guitar that was not only USED but BROKE immediately after purchase!! If you’re in the market for a guitar I highly suggest that you search elsewhere. Drum City is not a reliable place to purchase from
7. Bartle Guitar Studio
Address: 3233 Taft Ct, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033 , Applewood , Colorado , United States
A year ago my daughter expressed the desire to learn guitar. We found a wonderful instructor in Lorian at Bartle Guitar Studio. Observing my daughter’s progression, and Lorian’s teaching methods and techniques, inspired me to act upon my own life-long ambition to play the guitar. Now, my daughter and I enjoy the journey of learning music and a new instrument together. The experience has brought a lot of joy and fulfilment to our family. Lorian adopts a teaching approach that is patient, methodical, clear, and personalized to the individual so that any student, regardless of age or ability, can further their music ambitions under her instruction.
My son very much enjoys his guitar lessons from Ms Bartle.
I have been taking guitar lessons with Lorian for a couple years. During that time her key attribute has been patience and willingness to let me progress at my own pace. I am a senior adult and started as a complete beginner. I am somewhat lacking in natural musical talent but anytime I express some frustration Lorian is very understanding and encouraging. She is a very accomplished musician in her own right and can be very helpful to anyone at any level.

Address: 12200 W 38th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033 , Applewood , Colorado , United States
Cool music store for sure. The floor guy was very helpful in answering questions about my saxophone and the repair guys were AWESOME. Prior, I took my 25 year old alto somewhere else to get repaired. It didn’t seem right so I dropped by flesher. They pointed out all kinds of neglected leaks and loose springs. It got corrected at a reasonable price and it plays great. Should have went here first.
I am a musician and have been involved with Flesher-Hinton for over 10 years. They always have a wonderful selection to meet my needs and the staff are very knowlegable. I highly recommend Flesher-Hinton for all your music needs!
These guys are great. They are the first place I go for any woodwind repairs.
The people employees are professional, knowledgeable, and ready to help!
As with any store like this, you can expect them to be salesmen, though they don’t push too hard and don’t avoid helping you find the lowest priced items.
The technicians are great, but I wish they had a bit more enthusiasm.
If you are testing out brass instruments or such, the practice room they put me in had too much reverb to get accurate samples, even with a recording device. I have yet to ask if they had a more acoustically dry room.
They can order sheet music and products, and have all the basics and many accessories for band musicians.
Like always the services people were just great.
There’s parking at the new location. Really reasonably priced supplies. Not the best selection for buying instruments though. Since their relocation, seems they’re putting more emphasis on instrument repair. Still probably the best music supply shop in the area
Just terrible experience! Purchased a new wood clarinet 5 months ago. Found out it was cracking, unfortunately happens if not taken care of, but not in the first 5 months.
Took 2+ months to fix, when we finally picked it up, some old guy in the store started telling my 16 year old daughter about keeping it greased every six months- lecturing her because it was so dried out! Finally stepped in and told him…we bought it here less than 5 months ago…in other words, you sold an old dried out clarinet for $2000.00. Will never ever step foot in this store again d/t the service dept.
Went in to check out acoustic guitars earlier today. Got an important call as I was about to tune a guitar I was checking out and the guy behind the counter just starts blowing into some sort of wind instrument seemingly deliberately because taking a quick phone call. So I hung up the guitar and just walked out.
But the guy who welcomed me when I walked in seemed nice.
12. West Colfax Academy at Golden Music
Address: 10395 W Colfax Ave, Lakewood, CO 80215 , Applewood , Colorado , United States
Our kids take lessons from Meaghan (piano/voice) and Dan (drums). They both do an excellent job of teaching new skills, building confidence, and keeping kids interested and having fun! So glad to have found these excellent instructors.
Great place for the kids to learn to play musical instruments! My son truly enjoys his lessons, and I started seeing a progress pretty much immediately. I wish we had started the lessons with West Colfax Academy sooner.
These people are wonderful, especially Mary! She opened a closed store to me on Thursday afternoon, so I could grab a couple of things for my band rehearsal that evening. She was so gracious and accommodating. Golden Music rocks!
13. Starbucks
Address: 3210 Youngfield St, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033 , Applewood , Colorado , United States
Messed up my order, but quickly fixed me my correct drink.
Excellent Starbucks super clean and always great drinks super friendly staff and for the most part The Establishment was super clean but the bathrooms were pretty dirty to be honest
Love this Starbucks, very spacious, friendly staff
Nice Starbucks, but internet just went down after 10 minutes
Hot coffee on a chilly day
Nice staff, good coffee, and good place to catch up on computer work.
Very busy Saturday morning. Plenty of outdoor seating. One of the staff helped me load some gift cards to my phone.
I think the Starbucks experience us a thing of the past. I have fond memories of excellent service, great drinks and choosing Starbucks over local shops when I felt service and quality was better. I’ve been five times in the last few months and each time I say, you know, I need to just stop going there. Overwhelmed workers making subpar drinks and the whole vibe, gone. Such a shame. I’ll also say it’s not just this location but the three closest to me.
No parking spaces available even when not crowded. Drive thru always packed. Full of slow old people on weekends. I usually end up going to a different Starbucks.
14. FYE
Address: 14500 W Colfax Ave Space 447, Lakewood, CO 80401 , Applewood , Colorado , United States
First time stopping in, didn’t have what I was looking for but the staff were pleaseant.
This store is so cool. It has so many items I don’t know how to describe it. there’s toys, collectables, vinyl records, posters, blue rays, Cds. it’s an awesome experience
Very very expensive. But they have awesome nerd stuff!
Stole my cc information! Reported to capital one and rolling stone. they will lie to you here!
An employee signed me up for the Fye membership, telling me it was “completely free”, so of course I accepted. I checked my bank later and I was billed $12 for this “free” membership! Absolutely unacceptable behaviour.
They began charging my card $11.99 a month after I shopped there, for some kind of reward program they said that I signed up for. They didn’t even have my name when I called them to contest it. They tried to get me to give them my drivers license information and send them a copy of my bank statement. They were able to look up the account with a number that was on the charge. They argued with me about it and tried to say that I must have let someone else use my credit card. I was told by a *supervisor” that the charges would be credited back in 7 days. Wait and see.
15. The Music Range Rehearsal Space – Denver
Address: 1520 Iris St, Lakewood, CO 80215 , Applewood , Colorado , United States
This place is so cool! It comes with a drumkit, amps, speakers, PA and all the cords! My buddy and I had a great time. I’m so glad that I can actually jam in a space where I don’t have to worry about bothering my neighbors. AND IT’S VERY AFFORDABLE!
The owner Rob know his equipment like the rain man of recording studios. He’s put together some very nice rooms here.
Easy access, good amps. Clean facility, had picks and sticks in the lobby. All around good rehearsal space. I did the small room #2 and was the perfect size for 2 people. Will be returning to try the big room!
Some of the rooms are very small! Pay more.
Great time! Good prices, can play anytime, owner has good communication and a great attitude!
Small room with a lot of feedback, good for small groups that play quietly
Not so cool dude hates me called the police on us we were trying to practice, guess not
