Awesome service. Solid mix of gear. Always something interesting.
Blue Mesa Music is Class Act store!! I have never felt so welcome in store as I did with Blue Mesa. The staff and owner are all gifted musicians whom are passionate with their profession. Blue Mesa is a “come in, kick off your shoes and play a melody or two. My family sat, played a beautiful 12 string (purchased), deep, rich Cajone (purchased), rattle (purchased) and sang (owned) for well over an hour topped off by Amelia singing and playing a song for us. Blue Mesa Music was one the highlights of Summer of 2022 !
Music is a Rx for PTSD . I got my fix here❤️
Great shop with an eclectic collection. Knowledgeable and they encourage you to play everything.
2. Monkton Guitars
Address: 1505 W 1st Ave A, Broomfield, CO 80020 , Carmelo , Colorado , United States
Dave is a really awesome guy who’s willing to work with people to get them playing the guitar(s) of their dreams. I always feel welcome and able to relax in Monkton, and my every question will get an answer. It’s the only guitar store I ever go to anymore because my every need can be taken care of. Shop local, shop Monkton!
Dave knows his stuff, the best music shop in all Colorado no question.
Monkton Guitars is a great music shop where you can actually walk in, pick up and play a guitar or bass and play it before buying. The last of the small music shops of old where the owner knows his gear, knows music, and provides expert advice and recommendations. Great customer service and surprisingly good selection of guitars, basses, pedals and amps and ukuleles. Great customer service, and honest people. Highly recommended!!
Best shop around!
great place to try and buy, they know their stuff and are super nice and willing to help you find what you’re looking for. they have great recommendations and will let you play whatever for however long. very cheap for repairs and guitar work, much cheaper than other places. got my frets leveled/crowned and it sounds fantastic, however they did kind of gauge/scratch the neck on several frets. sucks, but not a huge deal as it’s not a high end guitar and the price was right ($60). again, sounds great but i would be weary of bringing a higher end model in as they weren’t very careful about taping off the neck to avoid cosmetic damage.
do not take your guitars here for repair! simple jobs will end up being 2 hours in labor charges. they will take your working guitar and send you home with a non-working guitar. they will mix up the wiring on the pots. they will give you pots too large so your knobs have a huge gap underneath. unbelievably unprofessional and incapable.
EDIT: The business response is not a fair respresentation. First guitar, volume pots wired backwards. Second guitar, repair only lasted the car ride home. Second fix only lasted the next car ride home. Third fix, incorrect tone mapping and too large of pots. Every single trip a problem. Why would I go back?
3. Marck Time Music
Address: 2318 Jones Ave, Pueblo, CO 81004 , Carmelo , Colorado , United States
Really nice music store. Super nice and helpful staff.
Very friendly and helpful staff. A good selection of music books and they also have good quality instruments available for sale or rental.
Good option for repairs and school required needs.
Had my mouth piece i needed.
Have a child that wants to learn how to play a instrument ? Saw the price and thought no way I can make it happen and what if the stop trying or think something else would be more in their lane? Marck Time was my choice. Have payment plans that are reasonable. Repair, sheet music. They know what Dist.60 has going on in their programs and more . Good service and competitive pricing. How much less would the world be without music?
Located across from Pueblo School for Arts and Science.
My family has purchased many instruments from this provider, and I still got stiffed. I traded in 2 moderate level open holed flutes and put an $800.00 deposit on a flute and the owner stiffed me. She charged me full price for the flute and did not even give me a trade in value for the flute that i traded in. I am almost 100% certain they also gave me the wrong flute. I paid this flute off, but i am extremely upset.
Please reach out to me to me for different instrument providers. I live in Colorado Springs and there are several places up here that I can provide to you!
DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!!
Too expensive
Not able to find what I needed, staff tried to convince me what I was looking for did not exist. Although I was looking to replace an item I had. Lovely store but customer service was not great. Maybe the person was having a bad day, either way will be a while before I go back. That is only my opinion, it looked like they had a good selection of instruments and sheet music.
4. Affordable Music
Address: 104 Village Pl, Dillon, CO 80435 , Carmelo , Colorado , United States
I found what I was looking for, nice place huge selections
Nice selection of new records. Lots of stuff that tends to sell out in Denver.
Absolutely amazing place. Came in an emergency looking for a cord and they helped us out with exactly what we needed. If I could give 100 stars, I would!
Limited selection, average prices
Great store, lots of music, plenty of stringed instruments.
I’ve heard good things about it but I was upstairs at pug Ryan’s bar
Terrible customer service. Was out of town for a wedding – asked about return policy and he went on a rant about him being a small business and how he would only give store credit. He was very condescending and unprofessional
A shambles. Nothing affordable. Maybe okay for guitars, but not music. Looks like a yard sale gone bad. Used vinyl is poor quality, C- vinyl and covers disorganized and twice the price of Denver. Boxes of unsorted records strewn about. New stuff is full list price. Not worth the effort of stopping. Waste of time
Sells broken products. Very expensive.
5. Campus Music Store & Studios
Address: 907 16th St, Greeley, CO 80631 , Carmelo , Colorado , United States
Very helpful! Got my first guitar here years ago! WILL DICKSON and JAGUAR JAKE are juts ignorant and mad! THE WORLD DOESNT REVOLVE AROUND YOU insignifiCUNTS!!
Closed when it says 24 hours and store is a mess
6. Music Go Round
Address: 8055 W Bowles Ave #2C, Littleton, CO 80123 , Carmelo , Colorado , United States
I recently purchased a used guitar online from this place. When I inquired about the guitar via email, I got a prompt and courteous response. The guitar was not only packaged to ship very well, but it showed up with the specifications we discussed, in tact. The guitar was not overpriced, as is the case with a lot of used gear. I feel I was given a great deal. I would definitely purchase from this location again. I will be visiting the location local to me now that I’m aware of this music store chain. Andy in sales, in particular, is who I dealt with. Very nice and knowledgeable person. Thanks!
Ok, So I called and Asked if they had any .10 gauge banjo strings said they did. I went to the store and they didn’t. I was about to leave(I really came to play this instrument I had my eye on) and one of the employees grabbed some .10 gauge guitar strings, cut them, and wrapped them for me. Alot of effort for a small sale! But really grateful because the only other place is Guitar Center and there all the way across town, and there strings cost and arm n a leg. Really happy with the service. And there’s a female employee their that’s really cute and good at the guitar, so that’s always an added bonus.
I have ALWAYS been taken care of here! I just now (as I sit in front of the store) had a used pedal I bought act up on me. Scott repaired it immediately! Well done guys! I love local, and brick and mortar! This is it for that!!!
I had high hopes but just wasn’t impressed. Compared to the Aurora location, this store falls short.
The guitar area was decent with everything displayed nicely but the biggest disappointment was the amps. All the amps we’re covered in dust and we’re absolutely filthy compared to any other store I’ve been to. NONE of the amps were plugged into the power strips so you had to ask for all the cords and power cables just to try anything. That made trying to really test the sound of any guitar a nightmare.
The acoustic room was decent but everything good was locked up so one really couldn’t try much without assistance.
The keyboard section was ok but they definitely needed to be cleaned and at least plugged in for one to try.
The glass cases displaying pedals, audio interfaces, microphones and other accessories was good and decently organized.
All in all, it’s an ok store, but some serious attention needs to be paid to the presentation of all items, ESPECIALLY the guitar amps. All items need to be thoroughly cleaned and then put out on the floor with proper presentation with included power cables so every piece can be tested by the customer. No one wants to have to ask for all the missing pieces just to try something out.
Very knowledgable and helpful
Musical Go Round is a great place to find certain used gear at a decent price if you know what you are looking for. It is a fun place to look around. I have bought guitars, sound and drum gear over there. I like the fact that they have a variety of instruments / other gear there too. They also do guitar set ups here too. I have to give Doug props for making my old Squire Affinity play nice again.
Inquired about, and tested an amp, (The Roland Bolt-60) it wasn’t acting correctly so I mentioned it to them. It appears to have some grounding issues, making noise from filter capacitors most likely, as well as issues with the pots. I was still interested in it, however rather than correct their advertisement and pricing, or repair the amp, they told me to forget about it and that they wouldn’t be repairing it.
If this is how they handle broken products and continue to sell them in states of disrepair. This might serve as a good warning. I would worry about other products without completely testing it, and potentially having a second opinion.
I implore all parents who are considering using this business for their child’s band or orchestra needs to re-consider and look at other options-and YES! there are other options! (this place works overtime to make you think otherwise!) This place will rip you off! I went with Kolancy’s for my 2nd child’s needs-they are more reputable and professional by far, and they actually care what condition their instruments are in when they leave the store!
No Scott, I won’t respond to you, I tried to have things rectified while at your store and you and your employees couldn’t have been any more dismissive or rude, but somehow now you care? Oh, I see, others can read this. Also, my bad experience happened at YOUR store Music go Round, not Music and Arts. I hope others read Joshua Fenner’s review as well since it perfectly captures what other parents and friends
have said they also endured as a customers over the years. I might have to drive farther for instrumental needs but it is well worth it!
I contacted the store online before buying the product online to make sure the store could deliver it within my timeframe. They assured me they would.
Now it’s the eve of their 2nd missed shipping opportunity and I won’t receive the gear in time. I had to purchase the item new and pay for overnight shipping to make sure I got it in time.
Between the purchase and now, the store had gone radio silent, despite my sending an additional email requesting information.
The upshot is that I purchased the gear through a reputable online dealer and will have my gear by Wednesday (today is Monday), rather than whenever the staff of this store decided to get around to it.
Btw… “Sorry dude” doesn’t cut it. Hope the store manager processes my refund with a greater sense of urgency and professionalism.
7. Allegro Music
Address: 11475 Twenty Mile Rd Suite A, Parker, CO 80134 , Carmelo , Colorado , United States
These guys are awesome !
Great prices – excellent service – talented instructors.
Their staff know how to adjust instruments properly – the big box guitar store? Not so much …
This is how a music store should be run !
Great job, Allegro ! : )
Helpful and friendly staff. Great selection for musical needs.
I had such a great experience here! Sean was so kind and so helpful. Trying a new instrument is so intimidating, but he made me feel very welcome and comfortable in the shop. He was also very knowledgeable! I would 100% recommend to anyone looking to play an instrument or to just stop in a friendly shop!
I like supporting Allegro (have been since about 2002). I teach piano out of my home, and they’ve helped supply me with the piano books I need for my students, even special ordering in the past. Thanks.
The staff was easily the best feature of the store. They were very friendly and supportive in helping me understand their products and services. Not only do they sell instruments but they offer lessons and practice rooms too. The selection of used electric pianos was limited and the prices of new instruments was higher than what I could pay shopping online, but with services like rent-to-own (great rates) and such knowledgeable staff I will be a return client.
I suppose it couldn’t be personal, that would be silly. Some of the visits are just awkward and incomplete I suppose…
It’s a nice place, they just don’t seem to carry much for Ernie Ball electric strings. I’ve always had to wait and order even in the old store.
I’m sure y’all make bank on lessons anyway, not strings.
We are looking for a viola and came to your store today to purchase one. We walked in and there was 1 person in front of us and 2 others walked in behind us. We waited over 20 minutes as your worker kept helping everyone else that walked in behind us. Needless to say you guys just lost the purchase of upwards to $1,000. Too bad because you guys have some really nice looking Violas from the shelf.
If there is an negative star I will definitely rate this shop. We rent two cellos for our kids for 9 months with their rent-to-own program, we had been told that we can use the rental equity purchase ANY music instruments. However, when we returned them the staff told us our equity should be used on those rental/used musical instrument, if we want to use them on something different, they will take 25% from our equity and they also sell us those musical instruments $100 more. I went to the store three times and every time I got different explanation on their policy. Can you imagine they sell an $500 used Yamaha student flute which costs only $200 on amazon? And an ukulele for $145? Come on! We paid about $900 rental just thought we can get something interesting for our kids when we return but it ends up we just got 2 cheap Yamaha junior guitars which Allegro charged $250 each (only costs $135 on amazon). Highly recommend those who plan to rent musical instruments from them to get an used one from Craigslist or Facebook marketplace.
Update 6/24/19
You are very welcome to post the policy I signed here, if there is any. If you told customer the equity can be used for “rent to own”, I don’t understand what is the issue when we really want to buy some instruments. The problem is you guys keep changing the words you say to your customer. You literally want to throw an used Yamaha 220 student flute to us for about $500, which the a brand new newer model costs only $480 on amazon, that’s a rip-off! And come on, we both know what quality your cello are, those just basic student cello which you can find the new one in amazon $250 each.
To those who want to rend musical instruments from Allegro, I suggest you do some research first on Facebook marketplace or Amazon, unless you do not care how much you paid. Their “rent-to-own” program will sell over-priced instruments to customers when they want to use the equity.
I wouldn’t shop there for anything except for guitar picks or something maybe not even that.
8. Mega Music the Musicians Store
Address: 1100 W Main St #2, Sterling, CO 80751 , Carmelo , Colorado , United States
Ive got a band room full of Mega Music gear and im totally pleased with Todd, his service and quality gear! Great store keep up the good work!
Todd does an great job keeping his store stocked to the gills with large selections of instruments, supplies,, and anything a beginner or novas would need. And if he doesn’t have it, he will get it and at a fair price. My son wanted a very specific guitar for his graduation and Todd had in ordered and in our hands quickly and beat the price we had found it online for. Great community supporter of everything and is all about kids getting into music and is very supportive of our areas schools music programs.
Todd at Mega Music always goes out if his way to help the community and it is appreciated! He always treats us good!
Kinda high priced but ok selection and kinda rude most of the time I come in not sure why anywayz
Awaome people to deal with!!!!
Update: Have been dealing with Todd and his store (Mega Music) for a few years now… This man is my go to guy… PERIOD…. Took my Jackson JS32 to him because it wouldn’t stay in tune.. He did a killer job setting it up… 100% perfect now!!!
Good selection and everything a musician needs. Only store in town that I would trust with my equipment. He’s got it
Sound production stage is a joke. As a group we have been on 1000s of stages with hundreds of sound techs and never had an experience like we do with this guy. Not only does he struggle to do basic sound or lighting, he is so rude you cannot even work with him. If he is running production, run.
Todd Allen the owner jipped me. He sold me a keyboard that was faulty. Then didn’t let me have a new power cord to it when that’s all that was wrong. Now I am stuck with two keyboards and really no way to hook up the second one. Plus he won’t give me credit for the old one. Do not go there.
My buddy said never do business here because this guy is rude. I see he responds to all the negative posts saying that never happened. I dont know man why would these people say this stuff if it wasnt true. Lol
9. The Denver Folklore Center
Address: 1893 S Pearl St, Denver, CO 80210 , Carmelo , Colorado , United States
I’ve been coming here for a few years now and every time I visit the staff is nothing but helpful. Their prices are reasonable, they do good repair work, and the staff is very knowledgeable.
Very welcoming and knowledgeable.
I was looking for a new acoustic guitar and I wanted to buy it from a local shop, rather than an online vendor. I’m glad I chose the Denver Folklore Center. They had lots of guitars to let me sample and they knew a lot about the characteristics and qualities of each one. It was a fun place to spend a half hour and I ended up with an instrument I really like.
Knowledgeable staff, great selection
I haven’t been there in 20-30 years. It was always a good place for young hippie musicians and a counter culture gathering place. Always enjoyed going there. I’ve known the main guy there since I was a teenager (50 yrs ago).
The shop itself, and especially Angus are fantastic. The luthier however, is not. I asked for one repair on my banjo, which they performed, but they also performed other destructive modifications without asking me. I only discovered the changes and damage when I examined the instrument on pickup. Thankfully it was “only” a $900 instrument. If this had happened to one of my more expensive pieces, I don’t know what I would have done.
Came here while on a trip with a friend and mandolin student who was in the market for a new mandolin. She hadn’t played many because there aren’t really any places to play them where we live. I am always in the market for new instruments I like, and have several multi-thousand dollar instruments. So we went to the store, which had no other customers there, and looked at the mandolins.
She is pretty shy so I wanted to loosen her up into not feeling judged and free to try and compare. I grabbed one of the cheaper mandolins and did my typical trying out a mando routine of playing parts of tunes that try out the high, low, and mid ranges of the instrument. As soon as she started playing one of the cheaper Kentucky mandolins softly some guy came over and asked what we were looking for and that we could only play the instruments if we were going to buy them.
I gave him a quick synopsis of the situation and made the point that it’s hard to know what we’d want to buy until having played it. He replied with a smirk and said he could show us to something specific if we were interested, but couldn’t condone “jamming”. I was bewildered as we were not jamming at all, but simply lightly playing on some cheap mandolins at the same time.
Eventually he showed me to some octave mandolin that I pretended to be interested in due to the feeling that if I didn’t tell him something specific we’d be kicked out or something. I felt suspicious somehow. When he left, some younger guy came over and he was really cool. But that older guy killed any good vibes. I didn’t even try all the instruments I would have been considering to buy.
One would think that, especially in this day and age, brick and mortar music stores need to be a sanctuary for players to play instruments they’re shopping for.
An older man sat in the middle of the store and made it clear to not play any instruments unless you were basically committed to purchasing. It was a stiff and uncomfortable environment. It is easy to see from many of the reviews that the business model needs an adjustment. Highly discourage coming unless you want to grovel at the feet of the owner. Also, there were no fiddles. How can they even call themselves a folklore center?
I miss Harry. He was polite to his customers.
10. Castle Rock Music
Address: 429 Wilcox St, Castle Rock, CO 80104 , Carmelo , Colorado , United States
I love this place! After dropping my guitar (that I bought elsewhere) Jason took a look at it and gave me an estimate on repair. He was very open and honest about the cost vs value of the guitar and helped me make the decision not to repair it. With zero pressure, he helped me look at other guitars to figure out exactly what I wanted, which helped decrease the sting of my broken guitar. I really wish I had just gone there in the first place! Great experience! I did not buy a guitar today (again there was no pressure for being able to look and not buy today), but I will be back to buy once I spend a little more time deciding on a couple of things from what I learned today after talking with Jason. I’ve also previously taken lessons there and done a recital there (with voice/ukulele) and those were great experiences as well!
Best little NON big box Music Store
Has knowledgeable staff, not like grocery stocker at those big box places…they know who they are…
Castle Rock Music is a great store! I have been shopping here for years and will continue to do so. The staff is is very informative about the brands that they carry and can answer pretty much every question you would have. I also like the diversity of the store and their wide range of instruments! Easily the best music store within 50 miles.
Singing lessons for our daughter is wonderful. The process is good, prices are acceptable, and the venue is nice.
The shop itself is cute and quaint, but the selection is only very low end. Nothing of value at all. Not even cheap name brand equipment, but just low end non-name brand stuff. No biggie I guess, and I’m sure their selection is ideal for what they’re going for, but you would think at least one Fender or Les Paul would be in there. Haha! Nope. I’m speaking about guitar/bass/amp selection.
Overall, a good place and great for kids or first time people.
It says castle rock band store but it’s more of a Guitar store there’s no other instruments.
I don’t see why many people are giving this place bad reviews, as I have good experience with it. I take guitar lessons here and the mentors are nice. I do feel a tinge of hostility towards me from the front desk workers, but they do seem approachable. I’ve never gone through a repair before with them, but that’s because I’ve never broken a guitar. If it weren’t from the tiny bit of hostility from the workers I would’ve given this place a five, in my experience and work with them.
The selection of instruments is limited to a few obscure brands and all of the staff is passive aggressive and rude. I’ve been there three times and regret it every time. I’m done.
Went to pick up my boyfriend’s mandaline just now. I don’t appreciate being interrogated through petty attempts of guilt.
“I’m so surprised your nice in person, you left such a scathing review.”
I don’t like you guys. It took 6 months and 3 calls from me before I got any update on this instrument. “We tried to call” … ‘In the last month.’ was conveniently what you left off, and I’m annoyed at the audacity that you couldn’t take a review I didn’t even write and decided to confront me about it like I’m the misinformed idiot.
I wasn’t going to say anything, but maybe next time you’ll learn to shut your mouth and keep some business.
UPDATE: The cost of the repair was $10 and they gave the mandolin back to me in about a week and he did it for free because of my interaction at Castle Rock Music. Every expert I talked to had a suggestion. 3D print the piece for a temporary fix, find a junk mandoline and scavenge, or just give it to someone who knows what they’re doing, etc… Not a single person said the fix was too expensive or hard. And I didn’t get an awkward talking to when I went to pick it up. Amazing.
Skip this place. Was playing an ukulele and the guy working ran over saying “Ask me if you want to hold anything. That’s why it says it right there on the tag.” I didn’t see it since my sight isn’t great. I just put it back and looked around a little more. During that time he was certainly trying to upsell this girl on some junk because it was “limited edition!” It seems like he assumes everyone who comes in doesn’t know how to handle an instrument. I’d rather hit other local shops that don’t treat their customers like they’re five years old.
11. Flesher Hinton Music
Address: 5890 W 44th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80212 , Carmelo , Colorado , United States
I am a musician and have been involved with Flesher-Hinton for over 10 years. They always have a wonderful selection to meet my needs and the staff are very knowlegable. I highly recommend Flesher-Hinton for all your music needs!
You couldn’t ask for a better music store, nicer people or better repair service. My Mom bought my first trumpet for me here 30 years ago when I started playing music, and I’ve been coming here ever since. Highly, highly recommend!
These guys always take good care of myself, my school, and my students.
There’s parking at the new location. Really reasonably priced supplies. Not the best selection for buying instruments though. Since their relocation, seems they’re putting more emphasis on instrument repair. Still probably the best music supply shop in the area
Like always the services people were just great.
The people employees are professional, knowledgeable, and ready to help!
As with any store like this, you can expect them to be salesmen, though they don’t push too hard and don’t avoid helping you find the lowest priced items.
The technicians are great, but I wish they had a bit more enthusiasm.
If you are testing out brass instruments or such, the practice room they put me in had too much reverb to get accurate samples, even with a recording device. I have yet to ask if they had a more acoustically dry room.
They can order sheet music and products, and have all the basics and many accessories for band musicians.
Just terrible experience! Purchased a new wood clarinet 5 months ago. Found out it was cracking, unfortunately happens if not taken care of, but not in the first 5 months.
Took 2+ months to fix, when we finally picked it up, some old guy in the store started telling my 16 year old daughter about keeping it greased every six months- lecturing her because it was so dried out! Finally stepped in and told him…we bought it here less than 5 months ago…in other words, you sold an old dried out clarinet for $2000.00. Will never ever step foot in this store again d/t the service dept.
Went in to check out acoustic guitars earlier today. Got an important call as I was about to tune a guitar I was checking out and the guy behind the counter just starts blowing into some sort of wind instrument seemingly deliberately because taking a quick phone call. So I hung up the guitar and just walked out.
But the guy who welcomed me when I walked in seemed nice.
12. Elledge Music Inc.
Address: 518 W Northern Ave, Pueblo, CO 81004 , Carmelo , Colorado , United States
Great inventory, great prices, used and new instruments. Top of the line keyboards and plenty of ukuleles! Not much in regards to record players but a really neat store overall!
This is one of the best places to buy your music books and accessories for your instruments. I would highly suggest that you buy your products to the store and do not go to Marc Time music. The owner has a large amount of knowledge, as he was once a professor at the university. The university being Colorado State University Pueblo. He is very professional and nice to his clients.
What can I say? Elledge has been here a LONG LONG time!! If you need an instrument I recommend checking in here first. 🙂
Fun music store….. unique classic place
Nice owner. Friendly place. Very helpful.
Music store is very messy with a poor selection of instruments. Repair shop is questionable.
Be open when you say your open.
I called, and inquired as to whether he purchased instruments at his location. I am new to the area. He responded “that’s why I have a music store, to buy and sell instruments”. When I gave him my instrument model (custom Ibanez in wonderful condition), he responded again by changing his statement. He said “I have too many instruments, I only want to sell”. I don’t leave reviews often, but this seemed necessary for future shoppers here.
13. Brightwood Music, llc
Address: 20 E Lakeview Dr #109, Nederland, CO 80466 , Carmelo , Colorado , United States
Love this store! Knowledgable owner and a great selection of instruments and kid friendly music classes.
Great selection of various string instruments. Friendly and knowledgeable service!
Drove 600 miles to buy a uke from this guy. He was in the middle of a lesson when we walked in and was immediately peeved. I picked up the uke from the bottom shelf and it slid out of my fingers 4″ to the floor. He barked, “Be careful!”. We walked out.
Absolutely rude and awful shop keep. “Just leave me alone ” is not what one expects when inquiring about a guitar. Came in looking for a mandolin and had to leave right away. Very upsetting. Never visiting again.
14. Boomer Music Company
Address: 3761 S Mason St, Fort Collins, CO 80525 , Carmelo , Colorado , United States
As a new guitar player, it can be intimidating going to a music gear shop. Not Flipside! I’ve been in several times and the guys there are always friendly and cool. They let me know on my first visit that I was welcome to bring in any of my own instruments or gear so I can check out how they sound with possible purchases. Once I found a guitar I liked at another store (which they complimented me on and chatted with me about), they helped me pick out a killer Orange practice amp and I never felt pressured. I haven’t bought any pedals yet, but when I am ready – you better believe Flipside is where I will be going. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the market for any gear.
Ziggy, Ike, and the whole gang are awesome!
I’ve made a few purchases from Flipside over the last couple of years. Great service and knowledge of the products they sell. Do yourself a favor and check out the store, so much better than a big box store. Affordable guitars, amps, cases, straps, picks & strings and an entire case full of pedals to try out. Fantastic business that I’ll continue to support.
This store is one of Denver’s hidden gems! I walked in looking for a bass pre-amp… These guys blew me away with their knowledge and friendlyness. They definitely know their stuff. I’d recommend flip side to any bassist or guitarist for any needs except repairs( I don’t know if they do repairs, I didn’t ask, as I already have a guy for that…).
Good inventory for a small place.
First Visit. Nice small shop, great pedal selection and some nice guitar brands (Reverend, G&L among others). Really friendly folks.
Overly expensive and also lots of homeless people hanging outside on the street near by. It’s a dump.
16. Cloverlick Banjo Shop
Address: 1208 W Myrtle St, Fort Collins, CO 80521 , Carmelo , Colorado , United States
I’m very unfamiliar with the banjo, Rooster had me in and out in about 10 minutes with a fixed up banjo and a new tail piece for a great price, I would highly recommend
Beautiful banjos and a community dedication that can’t be beat.
Rooster and crew are the absolute best. So caring and kind in all they do, from the moment you walk in the door to the most magical shop to the moment you walk out holding a lovingly crafted instrument. Absolutely worth the trip from anywhere.
17. Music Depot
Address: 2318 W 17th St, Greeley, CO 80634 , Carmelo , Colorado , United States
Music Depot is fantastic, bottom line. They are friendly and knowledgeable, and have a good selection of everything from high end instruments to everyday accessories. On top of all of that, Jesse is a certified Fender repair tech/warranty servicer (the only one in northern Colorado), which is important to me as a primarily Fender player. They also will setup/maintain any instrument you buy from them for free as long as you own it (and their prices are very reasonable for work on instruments you didn’t get from them). Again, I can’t stress enough how good these people are to their customers. Just to give an example, I was waiting on my tax refund to buy a guitar from them, and came in almost every day to play it. I was always greeted with a smile and friendly “hello”, and after deciding on the guitar and telling them my situation, they set up the guitar for me (even asking me what size and brand of strings I prefer). They also gave me a great deal for the guitar I was trading in. I know this review is long, but I cannot stress how grateful I am to have such a professional (and locally-owned) shop in the Greeley area. Keep up the good work!
Nice atmosphere, good guitars, friendly staff.
It was a great experience and the employees were super helpful and made it way easier for me and my family find my stuff and the checkout was very quick.
They had a book I needed.
Good store and staff. Had a little bit of a mix up on a mandolin set up which is why I only gave 2 stars. But everything else about music depot is great.
Even though the state has been opened up, they still are trying to force people to wear them. Zero stars. I guess spending on small businesses is out. Amazon it is, which is a shame, because I’d prefer to go to a local store.
They had my flute for 3 weeks to tune it up and replace the pads. My flute has not been playing well and after my band teacher looked at it, she noticed that none of the work was done that was supposed to be done.
I’ve bought guitars from Spotlight for nearly a decade now and they’ve always taken care of me on all of my purchases. I have nothing but positive things to say about my buying experiences.
Amazing store. Very respectable and a variety of selections
This place is the best! They have great selection (the best acoustic selection I’ve seen) and their workers are friendly and actually take the time to help you out, rather than just trying to sell you. I pretty much only shop for gear here. They retain their employees well, because several of the guys running the store now were there 8 years ago when I first started going there.
The atmosphere is friendly, and this is clearly not a corporate chain establishment. Unfortunately, they no longer carry Taylor guitars.

I’ve got a Breedlove Stage Pursuit, 7 years old, played nearly an hour every day. Prob needs some setup by July 1 for getting back on-platform at Timberline Church. Do you have a tech available (a number of guitar stores – including Guitar Center – say they don’t have one anymore) who could do the work? Would love not to have to drive up to Cheyenne or down to Denver. Thanks.
nice selection of guitars and equipment ,and associated equipment … of string’s piks & suff!
Flea markets have better warranty support
Cable companies have better customer service
Any Questions?
Good place to buy a cable or some other basic stuff but do not use for luthiery. They took my bass with a promise of fixing it in a few days. Several days later they told me they didn’t have the parts and I’d have to wait weeks longer. The best part? One of the employees was checking the availability of the parts the day I dropped it off. They just chose to wait a week before telling me. As I was on tour, I had no choice but to pick it up and deliver it to another luthier on my route. I just wish they had told me the truth from the beginning.
We called to verify that they repaired musical instruments. When we got there, the desk person (who was NOT the repair person) said that they don’t really work on my brand of saxophone because they couldn’t get parts for it.
Having worked as an instrument repair person, I told them that no parts needed to be replaced, that it was a lever that needed to be moved in front of another lever, and it was a 15 minute job.
They grudgingly took the sax, but then called and left a message at my home without even allowing the repairman to look at it.
Beyond disgusted. Go someplace where your instrument can be fixed.

Put a Bass in my Face!
Great people buying and selling with integrity!!!
Thanks y’all! ~ OttO
Brandon is great and also has a magnificent beard.
Great experience! Good clean equipment! Found what I needed at a great price!
Asked about where to repair my amp, told him I had it looked at by a local sound guy that has been repairing amps for decades(including four of mine, which I was very happy with) but wasn’t sure if I wanted to return it to the factory to be refurbished. The guy behind the counter(the manager) took that opportunity to bash the guy I went to(pretty excessively), and try to convince me his amp guy would be better than having it factory refurbished. It was rude, unprofessional and I’m doubt I’ll ever be back in the store.
Good deals and knowledgeable staff .
Pretty cool…!!!
Do not sale or buy equipment from these crooks. I came down from Wyoming to sell my speakers which they said on the phone they would make an offer. They offered $5 for my speakers which sell for $400 new a piece. When I said that $5 wasn’t a real offer I was cussed out so I left and ended up buying a guitar at Guitar Center instead of one of theirs. I have since sold my used gear online for way more than $5. These people insult your intelligence so they can rip you off for their benefit and cuss you out if you disagree with them.
A little pricey for used
I do not recommend this store. I have been a faithful customer for many years and tried to support local business, however this particular Music Go Round is by far the worst. I have brought in guitars and basses that I have played for years only to be told they have warped necks or something else is wrong with them. I have brought these same instruments to either Guitar Center (Fort Collins/Arvada)or the other two Music Go Rounds in Denver (Littleton specifically) and they had no issues and said all they needed was a little set up. While the owner is a good guy, the manager is completely un-knowledgeable and very rude. Also, their return policy is completely different from the other Music Go Rounds only allowing 7 days and in store credit only, and while they claim it’s stated everywhere it is not musician friendly as sometimes we need more time to see if equipment is going to work for us. Guitar Center is a much more musician and user friendly store, and I would highly advise taking the trip to the other locations to be treated fairly.

This place is so hype. Sick guitars, dope customer service, lit pics and fret wraps. Place is literally so buss frfr
Friendly staff, affordable repair, custom made guitars, low cost factory seconds as well as reasonably priced new and used instruments, lessons. Small owner managed shop. Well worth the visit…..
Came here regularly for bass setups. In my opinion, they’re the best in town for this type of work. Evan is very great at what he does and is an overall professional, honest guy. Very communicative and will work with you to get you what you need. Shout out to Tanner, as well.
Can’t recommend this place enough!
I had these guys take a look at a signature bass of mine. It had some electrical problems going on with it that were a bit out of their knowledge base but Evan is great guy. Very honest and very hard working. I will return with any other problems I have in the future and I would recommend them. Their pricing is very fair and they are willing to help out customers any way they can.
I called to sign my boys up for guitar lessons and had a few options worked out and was told I would be called back to confirm which times worked. I never heard back. Then, when I called back to confirm options, I was told they didn’t have any of my information logged and there were no longer any time slots available for lessons.
Everyone I have met there seems very nice, but very poorly organized.
