What an awesome guitar shop! I’d been following Monkton Guitars since the days when it was just a website, so when I learned that it was now a physical shop, I was super excited to see the stock in person. Monkton’s website had always had a great selection of used and vintage player guitars at player prices, which would get me drooling, but I need to play a guitar before I decide if it’s coming home with me.
Anyway, from the unassuming exterior in Bloomfield, I would have never expected what an amazing selection of instruments they have. The owner took us on a tour of the shop, and I was like a kid in a candy shop. I especially dug the vintage PRS that they had in stock, but they also had a bunch of vintage and used Fenders, Gretsch, and Gibsons. The prices were all reasonable. They also had a nice selection of affordable PRS SE, Epiphones, etc. Oh, and pretty solid collection of used and vintage basses. And don’t even get me started on the amps – vintage and boutique amps spilling out of everywhere. Basically, a great selection. Lots of cool stuff.
My one disappointment was that, while they have an acoustic room, they did not have a great selection of vintage acoustics. They did have a nice selection of a variety of new/used acoustics, but nothing that really got my vintage itch going. However, in light of the shop’s clear focus on electric instruments, and the fact that most normal people would love the selection in the acoustic room (I’ve got a problem; just ask my wife), I think this really isn’t a huge negative. Also, there are a bunch of great shops in the area that have vintage acoustics, but, until now, we really didn’t have an amazing vintage electric shop. So, yeah, while I was a bit disappointed, this really isn’t a song against them.
To sum up – this is an amazing guitar shop; I could easily have spent hours there, drooling over their amazing stock, and talking guitars with the owner, who was super nice and generous with his time (and not pushy or condescending like you sometimes encounter at shops). The dude clearly knows and loves guitars, and made some great recommendations on guitars I should try, based on what I’d told him I’d liked. I can’t wait to go back and spend some more time there – if you go, make sure to give yourself plenty of time to peruse the stock! I made the mistake of not allotting enough time on my first visit; that is a mistake I will not be making again.
Monkton is awesome! David is exceptional and the communication was second to none. Great store, great products, great people. A++
Best guitar shop around! Dave really knows his business. They did a great
job setting up my bass at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend
Monkton Guitars!
Best shop around!
great place to try and buy, they know their stuff and are super nice and willing to help you find what you’re looking for. they have great recommendations and will let you play whatever for however long. very cheap for repairs and guitar work, much cheaper than other places. got my frets leveled/crowned and it sounds fantastic, however they did kind of gauge/scratch the neck on several frets. sucks, but not a huge deal as it’s not a high end guitar and the price was right ($60). again, sounds great but i would be weary of bringing a higher end model in as they weren’t very careful about taping off the neck to avoid cosmetic damage.
do not take your guitars here for repair! simple jobs will end up being 2 hours in labor charges. they will take your working guitar and send you home with a non-working guitar. they will mix up the wiring on the pots. they will give you pots too large so your knobs have a huge gap underneath. unbelievably unprofessional and incapable.
EDIT: The business response is not a fair respresentation. First guitar, volume pots wired backwards. Second guitar, repair only lasted the car ride home. Second fix only lasted the next car ride home. Third fix, incorrect tone mapping and too large of pots. Every single trip a problem. Why would I go back?
Gina is a consummate musical instrument expert, especially when it comes to Flutes, Horns, and the litany of Brass Band instruments. I reached out via email to her business after hours and received a return phone call immediately and she proceeded to run me thru the gamut of her Saxophone collection on hand and educated me on each and every one I inquired about and lastly she offered an a phenomenal deal on a mint condition Sax that I would have been foolish to bypass. To top it all off she had the instrument overnighted to me (unbeknownst to me). My inspection proved that she was spot on in her description on the instruments condition. I can’t give enough accolades to Gina and her team. Thanks a million Gina!!!
Ordered a used king trombone. Was in really good condition. No surprise damages or anything, I’d order from here again
We were looking for a professional Getzen 3062AFR bass trombone online for WEEKS, when we came across this store. We were able to get the Getzen 3062AFR bass trombone used (but in impecable condition) for an excellent price. A new Getzen 3062AFR is very expensive, so we eagerly bought it. As we purchased it, Gina was very helpful and gave us photos and a thorough description of the instrument. As the product shipped, we were frequently updated on where it was on its process. An amazing store.

Amazing help! We needed rosin to keep up practice at home during a troubling time and the staff went well out of their way to deliver! Thank you guys so much!
I was there earlier today (4/14/2018) and i loved how helpful and cool our helper was. Really fell in love with 1 strat i played. Hope to come back next weekend and get something!
Great music shop, friendly and knowledgeable staff.
They had a book I needed.
Will not treat your instruments well and provide poor service at a ridiculous rate
The absolute worst experience. They do not charge your card properly for payments. They do not return phone calls and when they answer it always is someone else you need to talk to. When they mess up and don’t charge you, nor answer calls, then you get a pounding knock at the door at 9 at night serving you. Then when you pay the entire note they give you no ownership papers.
This company is a joke. They are rude and steal from people.
Buyer beware. To many other places to shop. Thanks for the worst experience ever and I will spend a lifetime avoiding anything music depot. It anything you fundraise or sponsor.
Totally disgusted customer in Colorado!!!!!
Walked in this store to have a saxophone, that I recieved as a Christmas gift, serviced. I was greeted (I use the term ‘greeted’ extremely loosely) by a younger gal, with blue hair. She immediately turned her lip up at me once she saw the brand of saxophone and said she couldn’t help me with parts for “that brand”. You see, I have been out of the music loop for about 10 years and was excited to get back into lessons and eventually purchase a nice jazz saxophone, once I got back into my groove. I was so turned off by the attitude I recieved that I thanked her for her time and left the store. Unfortunately this store is literally blocks from my home, but after the experience I just can’t see myself patronizing this establishment. My hand has now been forced to drive across town or to loveland/fort Collins for my music needs. It is truly a shame that small businesses have employees that are allowed to conduct themselves in such a manner that drives individuals away from reconnecting and following their passions.

I had an excellent visit to Flesher Hinton Music today. Barry in the Service Dept patiently helped me with problem with my autoharp. I will definitely return in the future for my musical instrument needs.
Amazing music store! Visiting from out of town and needed clarinet supplies—they had a great selection of woodwind accessories and were so helpful and knowledgeable in their advice. Super-friendly service….I will be back next time I’m in Denver!
We got to try several instruments before deciding on which one I would take home loved the staff interaction. No pressure at all. Thank you guys
The people employees are professional, knowledgeable, and ready to help!
As with any store like this, you can expect them to be salesmen, though they don’t push too hard and don’t avoid helping you find the lowest priced items.
The technicians are great, but I wish they had a bit more enthusiasm.
If you are testing out brass instruments or such, the practice room they put me in had too much reverb to get accurate samples, even with a recording device. I have yet to ask if they had a more acoustically dry room.
They can order sheet music and products, and have all the basics and many accessories for band musicians.
Like always the services people were just great.
There’s parking at the new location. Really reasonably priced supplies. Not the best selection for buying instruments though. Since their relocation, seems they’re putting more emphasis on instrument repair. Still probably the best music supply shop in the area
Went in to check out acoustic guitars earlier today. Got an important call as I was about to tune a guitar I was checking out and the guy behind the counter just starts blowing into some sort of wind instrument seemingly deliberately because taking a quick phone call. So I hung up the guitar and just walked out.
But the guy who welcomed me when I walked in seemed nice.
Just terrible experience! Purchased a new wood clarinet 5 months ago. Found out it was cracking, unfortunately happens if not taken care of, but not in the first 5 months.
Took 2+ months to fix, when we finally picked it up, some old guy in the store started telling my 16 year old daughter about keeping it greased every six months- lecturing her because it was so dried out! Finally stepped in and told him…we bought it here less than 5 months ago…in other words, you sold an old dried out clarinet for $2000.00. Will never ever step foot in this store again d/t the service dept.
Really nice place. First time there and it was a great experience with good customer service and walked out with what I was looking for really recommend this store for your according needs or guitar needs. Really great place
Exelente calidad de todo tipo de trabajo y conocimiento en los instrumentos 100% recomendados lo mejor de Colorado
Work fast and Ethical bo time wasted for right to it great prices would recomend ‼️
15. Gravity Music Gear
Address: 6487 Federal Blvd, Denver, CO 80221 , Aristocrat Ranchettes , Colorado , United States
Friendly staff, great prices compared to the big box stores..
Love this place.
It’s the same handful of cool people that have been running this shop for years.
They are musicians and take pride in what they do.
Gravity always has unique merchandise and their prices are super fair.
I always leave satisfied that I got a good deal on what I was looking for.
This place is great! They let me trade my Larrivee acoustic-electric and small Blackstar combo amp for a used Epiphone SG and the process/experience was great!
Better than it used to be, but it still feels like a glorified pawn shop. I think their goal is just to move gear as quickly as possible. I swapped an amp for a Strat they had, and one of the tone controls didn’t even work. Not a big deal, as I upgraded all the wiring anyway, but you can tell they don’t really go through the gear to make sure everything is functional. They had a fairly beat vintage Boss CE-2 they were asking top dollar for, and one of the knobs was falling off. Seems like you’d take the time to at least tighten up a set screw before attempting to sell a vintage pedal. The guys there are nice enough, but don’t seem particularly knowledgeable about gear. Also, I found it interesting that they turned around and listed my amp for $1400 on Craigslist when it costs less than $1200 brand new.
Nice place with good prices on used gear. Would’ve been 5 star if their trade-ins were a little more competitive price wise but still worth checking for deals.
Really didn’t’ have what I was looking for so I had to go to the guitar center they had pretty much everything
Staff not to friendly with Mexican clients
INVESTIGATION IN PROGRESS!!!!
This place is under investigation for buying and selling stolen goods. If your a musician that has had equipment stolen, its probably here.
Poor customer service. I asked to try out a guitar so they handed it to me and then they just hovered behind the desk without setting me up with an amp. It was weird. I won’t go back.
16. Guitar Hut

Great guitar shop with a laid-back vibe and helpful staff!
This place is so hype. Sick guitars, dope customer service, lit pics and fret wraps. Place is literally so buss frfr
Amazing little guitar shop!
I had these guys take a look at a signature bass of mine. It had some electrical problems going on with it that were a bit out of their knowledge base but Evan is great guy. Very honest and very hard working. I will return with any other problems I have in the future and I would recommend them. Their pricing is very fair and they are willing to help out customers any way they can.
I called to sign my boys up for guitar lessons and had a few options worked out and was told I would be called back to confirm which times worked. I never heard back. Then, when I called back to confirm options, I was told they didn’t have any of my information logged and there were no longer any time slots available for lessons.
Everyone I have met there seems very nice, but very poorly organized.

Went in looking for a base for a cymbal stand and a base for a roto-tom stand. The owner showed me an economical way to buy just one stand base and combine the rotos and cymbal onto one stand. Saved me money and earned a customer. Very professional.
This was my first time visiting this amazing store and I left very impressed. Very friendly staff and great customer service. I will definitely be making this my main music store.
This place is amazing. Tim Kae is an old-school dealer in the best sense of the word. He lives to get you what you want (custom order and clean vintage drums; Turkish cymbals; anything else you can imagine). Tim also has an amazing memory and will track down harder-to-find items if it takes months. Love this place!!!
Cool selection.
This place is pretty pricey. They say their drum heads are half off but the original price is double of what you would pay everywhere else around town, so you break even.
Tell me if a person can come across any other place like this .
Nice greetings Nice knowledge on product in general . Ran well.
Family owned since 1965.
Real cool.
Inquired over the phone (45 min drive) on needing 2x Iron Cobra Wooden Beaters. “Got them for you” was his response. Fight traffic to get there, buy product and trustingly got back in car. Upon inspection in parking lot, one is labeled CB90W (correct), the other CB90F (wrong). Stems are different and neither comes with weights. Looking closer the wood is shaped differently, different sizes and completely different types of wood. Just paid for two “new” Wooden Beaters that weigh differently and have different bounce properties. This place will lie just to make a dollar. Never going back.
I’m a beginner so I went in looking for the ibanez bass guitar starter pack. Everything went smoothly (other than when I asked them for any begginers advice they have and was ignored twice) and I was happy until I got home and pulled it out of the box to start playing. That’s when I realized the bass to amp cable was missing. So I called them and they got me a new after I had to drive back to the store. Got home again, hooked up the bass to the amp, then realized I needed to tune it. The electronic tuner it was supposed to come with was missing. I decided I need to take a full inventory. I didn’t think this was necessary because of this stores great reputation. It was also missing the shoulder strap. I had to drive back one more to return the item. Upon returning, they blamed the manufacturer and never offered anything to make up for the lost time, gas money, and frustration I experienced. I decided not to leave this review as I continued my search for my first bass set up. I found a nice bass but now i needed an amp. So after a week, I called them to give them another chance (on black friday) and asked them if there was any deal they can give me since they already gave me the run around once and if I drive all the way to 44th I want it to be worth it. The response was that his cheapest amps start at $100. I am now deciding to leave this review in hopes of 1. Improving their customer service 2. Making a begginers buyer beware as i felt like I was treated poorly compared to the other customers who weren’t begginers. Their reviews say friendly but I felt no friendliness during my whole experience 3. If u purchase from here, check that they don’t rip u off by making a full inventory before leaving the premises.
I ordered an item online that was in stock that the time of ordering. I even called in the store to confirm. I received an email A WEEK LATER saying my order was canceled because the item was out of stock. First and last time I ever buy from this store.

2 years ago, I bought a ukulele here. I figured it would pass the COVID time and also stimulate my 60 year old brain. I never played any instrument previously. Doug, the owner, suggested a modestly priced VTAB ukulele (maybe $80?). He was not at all pushing me to buy an expensive instrument, he was just encouraging. Yesterday, a string broke and I took it in to buy some new ones. Doug showed me how to re-string it (no charge!) and explained a lot of things (what’s a low vs. high G string?, how capos work? etc. etc.). I bought a peg winder and a capo and a low G string, and an extra set of strings. I highly recommend this store to get started on a new hobby. The $80 I spent on the uke is the best $80 I’ve ever spent. I’ve learned from the internet and practiced 30 min every day. I can play probably 50 songs (not from memory, but with chord sheets.) I could probably play another 100, now that I know the basics. I’ve learned that music is a lifelong, really fun hobby. It’s super fun to be on the other side of music, a player, not just a listener.
Great prices and quality service for professional violinists! Doug knows what he is doing with bridge making and he suggested strings that brought out my violin’s texture, I’ve fallen in love with my violin (1804) again! A week later, I bought a new bow that he picked out just for me. It’s amazing who a new bow, bridge, and stings will do! Brightwood is everything a music shoppe should be! I will suggest my colleagues and students shop here definitely, you might just be inspired again!
Very knowledgeable owner and staff. Great customer service and locally owned
Absolutely rude and awful shop keep. “Just leave me alone ” is not what one expects when inquiring about a guitar. Came in looking for a mandolin and had to leave right away. Very upsetting. Never visiting again.
Drove 600 miles to buy a uke from this guy. He was in the middle of a lesson when we walked in and was immediately peeved. I picked up the uke from the bottom shelf and it slid out of my fingers 4″ to the floor. He barked, “Be careful!”. We walked out.
20. Low Dollar Outlet
Address: 1200 Dexter St W7, Fort Lupton, CO 80621 , Aristocrat Ranchettes , Colorado , United States
Low prices / small business / no wheelchairs / access limits..
Was told by an employee that a bounce house was tested by the owner to be in good condition. It was set up when I got home, the blower was way to small for the unit. I used a much better blower to blow it up. There were so many holes covered with tape that it would not hold air, it also had mold over most of the unit. It was definitely not suitable for a young child.
I was told that it was not returnable and no refund. I understand those terms but I do expect honesty from a business regarding merchandise. This store is not good for our community or its families.
