The best service I’ve ever gotten and they do an outstanding job.
Took a dysfunctional keyboard and bass over to see what they could tell me about them and the older Mexican fellow was very patient and took his time trying everything out to see what was wrong. I got my answers and he didn’t even charge me. What a nice guy, couldn’t have asked for a better customer experience. When I need something fixed I’ll definitely come and support this small business. Thanks again for your time and hospitality
I love this place ❤️ I’ve been coming here for over 30 years since I was a child. They’re the best place to take if you need any guitar repairs, or if you want to buy a guitar their staff is very knowledgeable and helpful!
Chuck is the man you want to talk to there professional of everything install repair explaining,,,, they are all good people there the Mexican guy he’s pretty good explaining as well but obviously Chuck is my friend though I recommend this place
Good prices good help
The music teachers are great!!
I will not chop them up, but I will not return to this establishment for business.. the customer service is under par, though they may show great customer service to some, it seems they’re selective with who they serve… When I walked in, they were reluctant to answer my questions and help me. I am a guitarist, and I figured that instead of traveling a distance to Guitar Center for services, which has way better service in my honest opinion, I’ll try and stop here for my needs. This is the third time coming here and same results… Long story short, I will not be coming back to this establishment.
Came in here to buy an microphone, but was never greeted when I entered, nor did I even get to ask about their selection. I just left.
this store is so ridiculous!!! I am renting a violin and I asked the staff how much is the rent, the staff said there’s a minimum of 3 months period for $60.00, I told him what about for a month he went to his manager and asked if they can do it for a month, the staff came back and said they cannot do it for a month, but if I want he said I can rent it for $50 a day!!! what a stupid offer. please don’t go to this store, if you need to rent instrument.
ABC music is a small family music store. They sell instruments and offer private music lessons. My son started learning piano with Dan there. Dan is a great piano teacher who teaches piano music skills and theory. A couple of times we forgot to bring the music book, Jason who works in the store lent one to us. Later on when my son progressed to higher levels, we just simply bought music books in the tore. We also rented a cello from ABC music. Often we just call Jason to change schedules. It’s a convenient music store. We are happy to be serviced in this music store in the Castro Valley.
Great store and place for music lessons.
Great pricing very kind and helpful
its a great store but there’s a lot of bad stuff that happened to me when i was shopping there. The first thing was that it took almost 45 dollars to restring and tune my violin. i wasn’t too mad about that part but the thing that made me do the 3 star was that after 2 days, its out of tune. when i took my violin back from the shop, it seemed like the strings were really stiff and were extremely tight.
I have no idea how good they are because I have spent too much time sitting outside their store waiting for it to open! However, I should thank them because the last time I got fed up waiting for them, I found Music Unlimited on E. 14th Street and my music needs are now fulfilled.
They quite literally stole my guitar they just kept it..i sent my guiter in their shop and they ended up just keeping it, this happened with a friend of mine and her banjo they will steal your instrument be careful
I dropped my guitar (floyd rose trem) off on a Wednesday to be re-strung, cleaned, and to have the intonation checked/fixed if needed for an upcoming show. The guy at the front desk told me they were busy, but that he would have it done by the following Monday (and said he would try to get it done even sooner). He quoted me $50-$60. All good so far.
Monday rolled around and I hadn’t heard from them, so I called myself. He said the guitar wasn’t done, but that it would definitely be done by Wednesday, and that he would call me. No call. I went in Thursday to pick it up. The guitar hadn’t been touched. The delay would have been acceptable if they just kept me updated, but after the runaround, I can’t recommend this place to anyone. Added an extra star because service was at least friendly, if anything. Go somewhere else for repairs/maintenance.

Es un buen lugar agradable y bonito les recomiendo que vayan ok
Mc Donald’s is my favorite place to get my salad from. I always order a Southwest salad with grilled chicken
Es un buen lugar para comprar desayuno a buen precio ecomico y de entrega imediato para no perder tiempo
KeepGod1st
I always like it
We ordered curb side pickup before closing and and they were being rude and not explaining anything to us and kicked us out saying they were closed. They didn’t even let us cancel the order
No good at all
Bad service period.
6. Music Depot
Address: 944 B St, Hayward, CA 94541 , Ashland , California , United States
I’m a seasoned drummer. They had exactly what I needed. Friendly and family owned. They seem willing or get what you need. Very knowledgable. Can’t wait for them to start selling Zildjian cymbals. I’ll be going here anytime I can, no more guitar center for me.
Shop local! COVID-safe! Really great spot. Family-run, so helpful, and super friendly! I was there to pick up a case for my Ukelele and they were patient with me as I chose from a few options. Plus they gave me a free pick! 🙂 Definitely will be returning for any music needs in the future. Thank you!!!
With online retailers taking over, it’s increasingly difficult to find locally owned shops like this. This is a family business and they provide excellent customer service, doing everything they can to provide the best experience. They stock some great gear-Orange amps, schecter guitars, mxr pedals… It’s worth checking out! They also do repairs, string changes, and lessons!
Went in for mandolin strings, probably would’ve bought em here if they had Elixir. Employee made snarky comment as I walked out w nothing in hand. Perhaps if there were better choices I would’ve supported the small business :/
Came here twice. Hate driving out this way store was closed with no signage or reason. Called and no answer either. At least update your times or put a sign up
Place is never open-at least not during the posted hours when i have tried to stop in! Not a real useful store, if i can’t go in to buy something.

Professional equipment, professional and knowledgeable staff, all-around a fantastic and enjoyable experience. Would definitely recommend to anyone with a goal of recording original music!!!
Makes every dollor more than worth it and knows exacly what hes doing
What a wonderful and comfortable place to get RECORDING done at it’s best! Leo E and Leo C are amazing and talented engineers. I would recommend to anyone.
Not professional
10. One Bad Apple Records
Address: 2576 Castro Valley Blvd, Castro Valley, CA 94546 , Ashland , California , United States
One Bad Apple is not only a wonderful record company, they are also wonderful business neighbors. Don & his family are the best. They have a great record selection! I highly recommend!
Very, very legit. Went in looking for nothing in particular and walked out with three lower priced vinyl LPs in low demand genres that play flawlessly. It’s a tiny store but it very makes up for quality and still has a good quantity!
Great place with a wide variety of records, really takes you back in time.
Very welcoming, intimate location. Good but incomplete selection.
Got a lot of records I could see for size of store I admit and some CDs. Unfortunately, didn’t find anything that stood out. The guy that owned it was very nice and knowledgeable. Might check back again.
Extremely friendly staff. You can try out instruments as long as you use hand sanitizer. Large selection of stringed/electric instruments.
Awesome staff! Warm ambience, and decent prices. This was also Moira’s favorite spot to visit.
Funky & eclectic family music store. They support local musicians, are active community members, have teaching space as well as equipment for rent, and for a small business are surprisingly affordable. Five plus stars.
I’ve enjoyed each visit and was assisted with my needs with courtesy and professional experienced staff.
Tiny shop crammed with a surprisingly good selection of stringed instruments
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great place for music lessons.
Cool little music store easily accessed off the 580/680. Friendly staff with a pretty good selection of guitars and musical instruments.
Well stocked with quality but not overly pricey instruments, friendly staff, easy parking at the store.
Great selection of guitars and amps. They have Mesa’s full line!
Very personal helpful staff. If you like Taylor’s they have a beautiful selection
I have been bringing my guitars here for a few years , the guitar tech is knowledgeable and conscientious. I learn something new each time I’m there, I would consider him one of the best in the bay area. The Staff knows the products they carry and is friendly.
Good value.
We’ve heard good things about this place so we thought of giving it a try. We went there to rent an instrument but they said the one they have is being repaired. We asked for a return call once it becomes available so we can get it. Five days later and still no call so we decided to call them. Then they said it’s no longer available as someone else already got it.
Brought a bass with a maxed out truss rod to see if they could put a spacer in it. Their repair guy called me a few days later telling me that the truss rod was fine, and that it just needed a proper setup. I go get it and in the shop it looked fine with the action a bit high but okay, but when I got home I discovered that it was tuned half tone down, so no wonder it was fine: less tension, less bow. When properly tuned it still had the problem. So, don’t trust your repairs or setups to this store.
Old school music shop. Very cool, great prices on vintage amps.
Great store with great knowledgeable staff …
my husband got a pretty nice used guitar from here, it’s beautiful and it was inexpensive!
It’s good for the musician who knows what they want. Store employees not terribly knowledgeable, but fair prices and good stock.
Awesome selection of used and refurbished guitars, bass, and other instruments (even some old amps and electronic equipment that can be used with MIDIs) definitely recommend checking it out!
Large selection of lower end guitars and basses, plus strings, cables, band instrument supplies and pedals. Some cool used amps, but the guitars are garage band quality. Prices are not so competitive, and I’m not sure if the service here warrants the extra expense. But if you want to avoid the Guitar Center corporate thing, this is your only real alternative in Berkeley. Well, there’s Subway, but that’s really on the fringe.
Nice selection of amps. Bad selection of acoustic guitars. Never met such rude staff at a local music store, it is as if they didn’t want customers. I came in wanting to buy a pedal and the staff was so condescending they decided to ridicule me out of buying a pedal. What salesmanship!
They deal in stolen goods. Then they make the victims buy their stuff back
This is not a place to go if you’re looking to be treated well and want to be able to take your time with choosing stuff like guitars or other instruments. My friends and I have gone in a few times looking at guitars to possibly buy, and have also spent a few hundred dollars there collectively in the past few months, but at this point I would give negative stars if I could, because the owner is just a huge jerk. He kept rushing us saying things like “ok five minutes guys” and “I’m trying to run a business here so you cant stay if you’re not gonna buy anything” about 10 minutes after I bought $70 worth of stuff! He also claimed that I was taking up time he could be using on other customers, even though none of us asked anyone working there for help. There were only 2 other people in the store anyway! There is almost no space to walk in this store and if you accidentally bump into stuff the owner will get mad at you too. Basically there is no getting along with him and it has ruined my experience there to the point that there is no point in going anymore. He has done this kind of stuff before but this time he was even more rude than usual. I dont think that the owner understands that most people want to look around before they spend several hundred dollars on something. Ive tried to be polite to him in the past but I just can’t anymore. My friends and I have been treated with nothing but hostility by the owner. The employees are very helpful and friendly but the owner clearly doesnt want to deal with anyone who stays in the store for more than a few minutes. You’ll have a much better time going to the Guitar Center at the Emeryville public market. The staff are much more friendly and there is a much better selection of stuff with comparable, and often even better prices. Once again, the employees of the starving musician are very friendly and helpful but that’s not enough to make up for the rudeness and hostility of the owner who is almost always there.

I have just purchased an Ecclesia T 370 Model from Mary.
You can’t help but be impressed by the effort she puts into making certain the Instrument is designed for the organist. I my case I deal with a cervical fusion limiting travel in my neck, and a previously repaired shoulder that still causes some discomfort.
She is adjusting the keyboards so the Great is on the bottom, followed by the Swell, and the Choir on the upper keyboard. An adjustable music rack is being added for neck comfort, and Rocker tabs are being used, so I don’t have to reach as high as I would with draw knobs.
She is in consultation with the President of Johannus US regarding speaker placement in my home.
Interestingly, my wife, who was attuned to the sound I was seeking sat in the middle of the church when I started to play the organ.
Not one word passed between us.
I placed a Trumpet tab on and played on note. She said to herself, I think he is going to buy it. I tried another tab and she said. He’s definitely going to buy it.
I have been playing a Pipe Organ in my home for over 40 years, so this is a giant leap for me. This is the first instrument I have played that meets the tonal qualities I have been looking for.
We drove from the central Oregon coast to Davis, California to try this Organ. I was not disappointed. Mary drove for 4 hours each way to meet me at the church. She is a very special person.
She also offers the finest after sale support I have found.
Very courteous dealer and reasonably priced product. Thanks
