The staff at the store handles my request very professionally and efficiently. Highly recommended.
Friendly, helpful. Eager to cater to your musical needs even if they’re exotic or obscure.
The only thing I can actually complain about doesn’t even involve the staff or product. It’s hearing stairway to heaven…the breakdown…leading to no solo…if i have to sit listen then lets hear the solo! Anyways yeah…there’s other songs too. Very patient staff. Kind helpful and a sense of gratitude for the shared passion. Next to an an liquor store, need I day more? Hah nah there’s good burgers adjacent. Wow what a review right? Should be able to review reviews… gg
Always very knowledgeable and helpful!
Smaller than I expected as I was only used to their website so I guess I was thinking this place must be huge, but it’s about the size of a GC. However the people were nice and helpful and the gear was great.
Too noisy for me. Got a gift certificate for my grandson, and was happy to leave.
Not what it used to be.
My experience with Sam ash music was very bad there service down right sucks there staff is not business oriented what so ever they have no clue in what there looking at I would strongly recommend guitar center because they are the real deal located off RT 1 orange CT thank you
2. The Music Shop
Address: 405 Queen St, Southington, CT 06489 , Aspa , Connecticut , United States
I’ve been taking saxophone lessons at The Music Shop for a couple of years at this point, and I can’t say enough good things about them. I’ve had a few different instructors here, all of whom have been friendly, knowledgeable, and fun. The lesson times are convenient and the pricing competitive. I often say that learning a new instrument as an adult is one of the best things I’ve done for myself, and I’m glad I chose The Music Shop for this purpose!
Best
Very knowledgeable and friendly staff.
Great place but website could be better such as pics of some used equipment. I’m a drummer and would like to see what they have for new and used cymbals, stands, drum kits etc. And prices. I have done business with them and always had a great experience the reason for three stars is the website doesn’t do the music shop justice. All and all great store great people.
The cellos were in not in good shape and we had to pay a luthiere to redo repairs that were poorly done when we received the instrument.
3. A Sound Choice
Address: 267 E Main St UNIT 3, Branford, CT 06405 , Aspa , Connecticut , United States
I have a Fender Stratocaster that had a bad volume pot so the “mr Fixit” in me said I can fix it…so I bought a soldering set and volume potentiometers from Stew Mac, which if you are not familiar, is a one stop shop Of any thing to do with building or repairing guitars and amps for Guitar Luthiers amateurs and professionals alike. Needless to say it wasn’t as easy as I thought, soldered the new volume pot in as best I could while following an instructional video but NO SOUND!!!… So I brought it to A Sound Choice and I asked Ken to please fix the volume pot and then while he was at it do a professional setup and replace the strings…to make a long story short, Ken said I did a good job, just needed a little touching up and now the guitar is playing better than ever and I have another 20 more Guitars I need to bring him for future set ups. He could have charged me for a complete volume pot replacement and I would’ve never even of known otherwise. If you want honest, trustworthy, affordable, timely service of your treasured instruments….you can not do better than A Sound Choice.
Great small business with all sorts of instruments for sale and rent. Sheet music as well. Support your local!
Great local store with great prices..avoid the box stores!
Cool little music shop. Worth going and especially if you need a setup on your instrument.
When I can I prefer to spend my money at mom -n- pop businesses and A Sound Choice is a great guitar shop. Knowledgeable and they have a great selection of music making products. The corporate guitar stores don’t always hire staff that even know what a treble clef is so my advice is spend your money here.
Very convenient
4. Music & Arts
Address: 989 Farmington Ave, West Hartford, CT 06107 , Aspa , Connecticut , United States
Staff is always attentive and polite. Knowledgeable and helpful with any sort of question about an enormous range of instruments. Plus, my favorite, they aren’t just trying to sell you something ! Melanie M helped me and overall the experience was stellar! Thanks Melanie !
We stopped in right before closing while walking to a restaurant, but the guy working was still super nice and offered to stay and told us to take our time. We’ll be back again, we were impressed
Limited retail space, but the staff is helpful and knowledgeable. Music lessons are offered on site.
I have condensed my original rant down to the following- we really like our children’s teachers- but the front desk needs saving
Yeah it’s good!
Imagine spending your life blowing air into a piece of metal. Unbelievable
When ever I place an order for a left handed Guitar it takes like 6 weeks for it to get to me horrible ordering process
JUST HIT BACKSPACE ON YOUR BROWSER AND PICK ANOTHER COMPANY. YOU’RE WELCOME.
Called your West Hartford CT store early today, after calling around to several other of your stores, to see if the had a certain string for my cello and if they could fix the one string today. Was told yes on both. My husband drove 25 min there to find out they did not have the string. Drove to the nearest store that had this string (which was an additional 15 min out from my house) and they had no one to help with the cello. My husband ended up purchasing the string. Had I talked to him I would have told him not to make the purchase. Now every place is closed so tomorrow I have to go to another store to get this string put on. We needed the cello for tomorrow so you guys were literally no help. I will be returning the string and doing my business elsewhere. I should have listened to the other bad reviews. First time customer turned into last time customer.
5. Guitar Center
Address: 50 Boston Post Rd, Orange, CT 06477 , Aspa , Connecticut , United States
They always make you feel welcomed here. Knowledgeable staff who help you perfectly.
Hay de todo
Amid the low to mid priced guitars, I was a bit disappointed, because trying to find a brand new bass amp among the used gear was like trying to find a needle in a haystack. The store was not clean and appeared to be in a bit of disarray. It’s been a few years since I have been in this location, and it’s a shadow of what it once was.
Knowledgeable people, but often more expensive than the competitors.
Decent selection with fair pricing. Staff was helpful and pretty knowledgeable without being pushy… the person behind the register seemed to be having a bad day, but I guess everyone is entitled to have a crappy day occasionally…
It’s not what it used to be. The inventory is lacking and the guitars need setups.
large inventory and nice space here. just cant recommend their guitar setups. i got a platinum setup on two of my axes and they just didnt check for intonation at all–i adjusted the saddles myself the day i picked them up. and the wiring of my new pickups was messed up pretty badly.
Not helpful anymore. The employees would rather chat and play with the instruments than help the customer
6. Upscale Music
Address: 53 Maselli Rd, Newington, CT 06111 , Aspa , Connecticut , United States
Mario fixed my studio’s audio equipment quickly, expertly, and for a very reasonable fee. It was an obscure problem and he was patient enough to track down the issue and make the repair. I highly recommend this company.
Professional service from start to finish! I was having a buzzing problem that cropped up suddenly with my tube amp. I contacted the people who used to service my amp and they had retired from the business. I searched Facebook for help. Over and over, musicians I know were recommending Mario from Upscale Music. I brought the amp to him and he said “Don’t worry, everything will be alright!” Not only is he a master of his craft, but he is a very nice guy!
Mario gave my amp “the spa treatment.” He took everything apart, cleaned it and touched up any connections that needed it. He had my amp sounding better than it ever did….all in time for my next gig!
If you need amp repair done, don’t think twice…bring it right to Mario!
Lot to see, cool place just to check out if you’re looking forward to seeing music related things, try it out!!
Need some amp repair and tired of the run-around/fretting (pun intended) about the skills and talents of your local schmoes? Take your rig to Mario; run, don’t walk! The dude got my Mesa singing like a dream…can highly recommend. Must emphasize that it’s great to have such an ol-skool artisan in our neck of the NE woods. Very reasonable pricing!
I am a believer. Did nice work very quickly on my vintage telecaster for a great price. Highly recommended – and I don’t highly recommend very often 🙂 And he has some nice amps at very reasonable prices. I will be going back.
I had a good experience at this store, try it.
I don’t like giving negative but Mario burned me for $50. And I gave him a chance to fess up. Briefly, I needed pre amp work done on my guitar. He took a deposit and after some time, I called him to pick it up and he told me he was backlogged. No problem on my part I have other guitars. Later, my money tightened and I called him to not work on the guitar and that I would bring it back in spring or summer. He didn’t respond. When I came to pick up my instrument, he told me I couldn’t have my deposit returned because he had started diagnostics on it which was a lie. But I was truthful telling him that I would return it at a later date. I won’t ever trust him again and there are other honest guitar repair folks around. He wasn’t cool. Sure he gave me a set of strings as a consolation prize. I had bought from Mario before but never will return. He lost my patronage. I told him the truth about my willingness to return at a later date and he lied to me in return. And he kept giving different repair costs the lowest given when I picked up my guitar but by that time I had lost confidence in his business ethics. I’m self employed and I would never treat any customer in this manner.
7. Music & Arts
Address: 1863 Post Rd, Fairfield, CT 06824 , Aspa , Connecticut , United States
My son has been taking guitar lessons with Paul for about 6 months now, and we have been extremely pleased with his progress. Paul Fredericks is a great teacher. He has good rapport with his students and makes the lessons both fun and challenging. My son always looks forward to his lessons. We highly recommend him as a guitar teacher.
I haven’t had much experience with their sales, but their music lessons are top notch. We use Paul Fredericks who teaches my son electric guitar and my daughter keyboard. I’m amazed at how fast they are learning and by how much they want to go to their lessons. Because of the way Paul interacts with my kids, music lessons have never seemed like a chore to them. He also goes out of his way to make rescheduling missed appointments easy for me, which is very helpful as our schedule gets chaotic at times. Music & Arts lesson system is also easy to use and notifies me of upcoming appointments and changes. A+
I like this place. They rented us a sax as my son started and had the sax we bought tuned up at a fair rate. The musicians in the store are helpful resources. It’s great to have this place so close to home.
The prices are ok. The parking can be tough. The person working the desk was dismissive of my questions. Not a lot of inventory on display. They seem more about instruction.
Sales staff were not super knowledgable. We rented our son’s violin for school through them and billing was always an issue even though it was on monthly automatic payment. Glad the saga is over.
Thank you for your service n attention. Thank guys for helping me to pick the perfect gift for my wife.
Don’t rent any instrument from this place. People are very rude. Calling customer service takes forever to get someone on the phone. Unfriendly customer service, supervisors don’t want to talk to customers. Find another place to rent instruments for your children.
WARNING! WARNING TO PARENTS!! DO NOT USE THIS SHOP FOR RENTALS! Should be ZERO stars.
We rented from here for 5 years, the first 4 went off without a hitch. This year has been an absolute nightmare. We rented two instruments, same address, same name, same payment. ONE account had no issues, the other the local store put in the wrong address (where we have never lived). Over the last 4 months I have called their headquarters, left messages, emails, etc. trying to get a paper bill MAILED so that I could pay whatever was owed. They were incapable of sending this, and every time I called in could not even find the right account or would tell me everything was fine and they did not know why I was being contacted. When asked why they could not have looked at our other rental account for the correct information they were stunned into silence. Absolute incompetency from the sales staff all the way up to the billing department supervisor who assigned our missing “account” to a collections agency and then gave us the WRONG agency. Save yourself the trouble and stay far, far away from here.
Very bad and rude customer service, hang up my phone.
8. Music & Arts
Address: 22 West Putnam Avenue, Greenwich, CT 06830 , Aspa , Connecticut , United States
I have only had positive experiences with Music and Arts of Greenwich at 22 West Putnam Avenue, Greenwich, CT 06830 – specifically with Marc Perler, the manager, and specifically with Charise Turner, the manager at the Wesport CT location, 413 Post Rd E.
Marc Perler and Charise Turner go out of their way to make sure you have all of the components of your rental or purchase and answer all of your questions with a smile. The rest of the staff are very knowledgeable and kind. The music teachers are top notch, too!
Very professional. Very friendly. I would HIGHLY recommend this store to anyone as the first place to purchase or rent string and other Musical instruments and supplies and especially to take music lessons with top notch teachers..
Mark was super helpful answering my questions.
Excellent customer service even before I was a customer. They really went out of their way to be helpful, unlike the music store at the other end of town. Definitely worth visiting.
