Went there today to check out ukuleles…BEST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! I would have never thought that we would have a local shop in town, when I found out about it yesterday I was so hyped and had to go. I ended up just buying picks but it was a pretty hot deal for 3 for $1. Al who was the one who helped me was so nice and made it a 5 star experience. Recommend going to check it out.
Al Yates will give you a dose of authenticity that will make your day, the second you walk through the door. Bought a traveling steel six-string guitar and hard case for my son that was perfect and he knew exactly what I wanted before I did!
Stopped in while traveling and fell in love with then shop. The vintage and newer amp collection could easily outfit a recording studio. I found some great quality and unique acoustic guitars, mandolins, and an impressive collection of used bass guitars. Knowledgeable and friendly staff/owner. I wish this store was in my hometown.
2. Camas Creek Country Store
Address: 113 US-20, Fairfield, ID 83327 , Camas County , Idaho , United States
If you’re in town, its the only place to go for most everything.
Nice store to pickup last minute supplies before heading North. Prices are reasonable and the store had most everything you need.
Gas was really cheap here compared to Gooding, Wendell, or Twin.
Great store
They are trying to do a good job
If there was a zero star rating this place would get it. Only store in town is the only reason people shop here. Horrible people.
ugly rats everywhere
Extremely overpriced, expired meats and dairy on the shelves, cashiers are nice, the owner not so much. You would think that they would be a little more price friendly for the locals, but, they are catering to the passers by. 20 dollars will buy you maybe 5 things if you are lucky. The meat dept is hideous. Out of date brown meats at almost full price. I live in Fairfield and will drive 35 miles to Gooding and still save a ton of money. The owner most definitely had the locals bent over a barrel
And to answer your question Brad Bartlett, when a loaf of low quality bread costs $4.99 cents at CCCS and the same loaf of bread costs $1.29 in Gooding, that’s called price gouging. That goes for 99% of the rest of their products. $9.00 for a 12 pack of soda? Lmao.
3. Monkeyman Music
Address: 135 N 3rd E St, Mountain Home, ID 83647 , Camas County , Idaho , United States
Dropped two guitars off to get some maintenance taken care of. Can’t be happier with the service! Both guitars play like new, the turn around was great, and the price was even better. I also love the fact they are open to 8pm!!!
Calling this establishment “mediocre” would be too much of a compliment. My brother went in to ask if the man had any guitar parts and was treated like an inconvenience. The man had his back to him the whole time, was very dry and rude and had awful customer service overall, once my brother asked about guitar lessons though is when the man perked up and became chatty. Only when money was in the conversation was he interested. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
4. Gig’s Music
Address: 611 N Orchard St, Boise, ID 83706 , Camas County , Idaho , United States
Great visit to learn what banjos I might be interested in, as well as chatting about local punk music in the area. I talked at length with Dub, who was very interesting, as he knows a lot about various musical genre and bands playing in the Boise area.
My daughter started 5th grade band today and we had no idea how to work with her school-issued tenor sax. The guys at Gig’s knew exactly what she needed and even took the time to teach her a few things. She left there feeling confident and supported. We’ll definitely be returning.
These guys are great! Fixed up my ESP guitar and charged a great price. Hey have great stuff for sale and are always super helpful and nice. Best in Boise for sure!
The store is small, and the selection of instruments is not exactly large. Chances are, you’ll only find between 3 and 5 bass guitars for sale. There is usually an adequate amount of electric guitars to browse through though. Also, a fairly good selection of acoustic guitars. And, you’ll probably find some other instruments, like cigar box guitars, ukes and banjos.
If you are looking for used instruments and good deals, I think Gigs is worth visiting.
Andy, the store’s proprietor, is friendly, quite helpful, and easy to talk to. Several musicians I’ve talked with say he is a very good guitar tech.
There are one or more guitar teachers working there. I heard one was quite good, but I can’t remember his name, sorry. The teacher or teachers work with both adults and kids.
The worst thing about the store is sometimes people smoke in there. I don’t like being in an enclosed environment in which people are smoking. I tend not to stay long when I smell cigarette smoke. That’s just nasty, and discourages business.
If this store sold more bass guitars, and if no one ever smoked inside, I’ve be giving Gigs a 5 star rating instead of 4.
Good shop. Needs more stuff.
Great help and service. Instruments were priced Right and in great condition for being used.
Egh. A big, mostly empty space filled with pawn shop guitars, dusty packs of new old stock strings, and rack gear from 1991.
Never answers calls
Sell used stuff.
5. Rick’s Music
Address: 915 W Flamingo Ave, Nampa, ID 83651 , Camas County , Idaho , United States
I called yesterday to see if someone would show my kid a quick tempo on the drums before signing up for band next school year. Rick had her playing a 4/4 groove in 20 minutes and he joined in with a guitar at the end. She had a blast! He’s extremely knowledgeable and an awesome teacher. He also went over some guitar basics with me, explaining and demonstrating music theory and learning strategies. He showed me his snare drums, was honest with pricing, and recommended getting a cheaper set than he carried for learning, opposed to conning us into a purchase. By the end of it, we were there 20 minutes past closing. Love that Rick is all about the music versus the business of making money!
I have purchased guitars and gear over the years from Rick’s music, I have always received Professional Service and friendly advice on all my guitar needs.
I always have Rick do adjustments and repairs on my guitars, because his work is top-notch!
I recommend people to him because of the good job he has always done for me!
Excellent bargains and good selection of guitars and amps
I had Rick set up my guitar. He did a Fantastic job. Fast and reliable. One day service. I would Recommend him all who needs guitar service. AAA++++
Rick is a great guy, and there’s always a gem or two hanging on the wall. Good prices, too!
Last Saturday I took my most prized possession to Rick, I paid to have a set up and new strings put on my Epiphone Les Paul 1960 Tribute pro. When I got it home I pulled it out and wanted to play it. I noticed right off the bat that Rick took a Utility knife or some other tool and shaved off the binding all around the fret board The fret board has gouges all the way around and the frets stick out and gouge your fret hand when you try to play it. My guitar is completely ruined! I haven’t slept in several days I’m so pissed. I in no way implied, asked for or mentioned that he do this to my guitar. I can’t even open the case it makes me so sick! I would not recommend Rick to anyone again. Rudy Rodriguez Nampa Idaho
6. Blue Rider Music & Instrument Repair
Address: 595 W Ustick Rd, Meridian, ID 83646 , Camas County , Idaho , United States
Originally I was unhappy with the outcome of the service I had received. I put this in a review and immediately got a call from the owner of Dunkley music!! Mark took the time to listen to my frustrations and quickly remedied the situation, even better than I hoped or expected. I am stunned at the level of customer service, the care for the community, and the individual attention I was given from each of the employees I had contact with. I can’t say enough how impressed I am with the way this business is run. It’s no wonder they are a foundational part of the Idaho business community. Thank you so much Dunkley music…. I’m almost speechless ❤️
Very good service! I Felt very welcome and she wants to help.
……Store located JUST EAST OF TARGET….
Best choice for band & orchestra instrument rental….best price, repairs included!
Pianos, Guitars, Lowrey Play-For-Fun classes for seniors.
Always FRIENDLY service. All piano teacher books in stock…. New recital hall in 2015!!!
The Nampa store is part of Idaho’s LARGEST full-service music company.
Would not recommend. Very unwelcome vibes. Zero chill music store vibes lady just wanted us to leave the second we got ther. The lady I dealt with was rude and tried to gouge me for my money.
8. Smoky Bar Store
Address: 12 Big Smoky Rd, Fairfield, ID 83327 , Camas County , Idaho , United States
Not an actual bar but they can sell beer and wine. Locally owned and operated by my daughter. Good to have a cold drink, candy for the kids and resupply of fishing, camping biking gear. Cabins for rent.
That place was rocking on the 4th of July
Stopped in for snacks after a hike. Good selection and nice people far from anything else.
Good little hide out
Worst place ever! I tried to call and they lied to me, I was worried about a loved one.
Quaint and very hospitable, lot’s of character. Drop in for a drink, snack, stay awhile or even a night or two, knock off your dust, get a drink and kick back.
9. Dunkley Music
Address: 3410 N Eagle Rd, Meridian, ID 83646 , Camas County , Idaho , United States
I recently decided to try and learn how to play the piano. I did some googling and found Dunkley. When I first went in, I was introduced to Rich. Rich ran me through a variety of things to consider when purchasing a piano for a beginner. I did some research on my own, and ultimately went with a recommendation he made, the Korg B2SP, and I could not be happier! I went back soon after to look for some learning materials and was met with exceptional service from a few employees who were all nothing but kind and knowledgable. I especially appreciated Melody, who has gone above and beyond by reaching out directly to their brand reps in order to help me obtain online music lessons. I also am currently speaking with one of their piano teachers to begin lessons. I couldn’t be happier with their services! Would highly recommend!
We hd such great service today. Thank you for all your help and knowledge.
I have bought a Kawai CN25 from Marion in a total of sale price of 600 plus 13 month renting period. Ends up with about 1645 U.S dollar. I am really happy with what I’ve purchased. And Marion is very nice on settling the deals with me.
I enjoy DM very much. It’s so much fun to look around to see all the instruments they have in-store. They had the gift I was looking for (and then some). Someday, I’ll take those violin lessons. For now, I’m saving up to get myself that keyboard bench.
Nice location. For service, I prefer the Nampa store.
I hesitate to share this review because I’m sure they have quality product and talented professionals at Dunkley. However, both times I have visited the Boise location the customer service was non existent. I won’t speculate too much why (although I have my suspicions) but being completely ignored (not even made eye contact) by multiple employees for the entire duration of the visit is unacceptable service. I’ve heard from other people who’ve had the same experience. I’ll continue going to Dorsey music in Nampa for this reason.
My wife, son, and I went to Dunkleys to do a little piano shopping as we had sold her piano a few years back and have now moved into a new home and have space again. Spent 10 minutes walking around looking at the various options without so much as a hello from anyone working there. Noone seemed overly busy but neither did they seem interested in helping us. Love supporting local but if you do not want my business you will not get it.
Pooor customer service , employees standing around and acted like we were bothering them to serve us
10. Dorsey Music, Nampa
Address: 1231 Caldwell Blvd, Nampa, ID 83651 , Camas County , Idaho , United States
I rented two instruments for my kids. The employees were awesome to work with, very knowledgeable and took the time to make sure my kids understood how to care for the clarinet and baritone. Sergio was especially helpful. I definitely recommend Dorsey in Nampa.
Always friendly and knowledgeable
Love their music and instrument options!
These guys are alright. I’ve bought PA equipment from them, and when I ask them if they can give me a better price they do. I check around and it’s a competitive price. I will say they have plenty of gear. Sales guys are ok to deal with but you gotta take charge since your suppose to know what your talking about. Over all Dorsey is OK.
Awesome because of the quality instruments. Not very organized though.
It has a decent selection for some things, but there is one thing that has come to my attention. When I came here in the market for a new saxophone, it was very apparent that they wanted to sell a certain brand called Cannonball. There is nothing wrong with this brand, but there are certainly better saxophones out there. If you want a unbiased instrument experience then I suggest you go somewhere else.
That being said, I have purchased a Cannonball instrument from here and it works perfectly fine. And in my humble opinion Cannonball instruments look better than most other bands.
We stopped in today too restring a string on our daughters violin. An older employee lectured us for 5 min on the fact that we didn’t purchase from them. He was condescending and rude. He also informed us that the $18 string we just purchased was difficult to match because of our cheap “Chinese” strings that were origionally on our violin. (They weren’t) the guy who actually did restring the violin was really nice, super helpful and very professional, but we wouldn’t come back. We don’t enjoy being lectured just to buy a string.
Want to be talked down to? Then this place is for you. Bunch of old snobs.
They have a terrible selection, pressure people into buying things they don’t want, have no returns, and terrible customer service. They are extremely overpriced and unhelpful. I was not told about the 30 day exchange policy, nor was I told about price-matching. As for the TENOR saxophone mouthpiece, they did not have the one that I inquired about, which is extremely common and popular, nor did they have the reeds I inquired about, which are also extremely common and popular. I was instead stuck with a mouthpiece that I didn’t want, that I payed $20 extra for, and they now have an extremely dissatisfied customer that will never return. If you’d like a much better experience, more knowledgable staff, and better pricing I would suggest going to Dunkley Music instead.
11. Mike’s Music
Address: 2908 Pole Line Rd, Pocatello, ID 83201 , Camas County , Idaho , United States
Very nice. Fast and friendly. I love the guitar strap I purchased plus it felt great to support a local business.
Really great music stores
Has a great selection of ukeleles, and the service was very friendly. Definitely will go back in the future.
Has a pretty good selection of just about anything a guitarist might need and a friendly staff.
Very good experience I neededa PA system for a funeral and they provided what I needed at a good price
Friendly and helpful
Absolutely horrible customer service. You lost a long time customer.
I was looking at a guitar here that I was in love with and was going to buy that day and the salesman pulled it from my hands and said “if your not going to buy it, I’m going to sell it to someone else.” After I just finished telling him I’m going to buy it. Very terrible service. Rude workers
Went in with my wife, both of us had $$$ to spend. We were never acknowledged, they were to busy ripping some kid off on a banjo. I’ll never shop here again…
12. MusiCare
Address: 391 W Broadway St, Idaho Falls, ID 83402 , Camas County , Idaho , United States
Jim ALWAYS does a fabulous job on my guitars. I recently had him switch out pick ups on my Les Paul. He set it up from the factory set up and made it perfect. I would highly recommend him for any guitar issues.
This is an honest, salt of the earth, family run business. I was magnetically drawn into this store by the instrument displays in the windows. I hadn’t picked up a French horn since 1998 and the older gentlemen were so kind to let me try out their one French horn that was for sale. It was reasonably priced and I even got a free 60 second music lesson!!
This is my go to team whenever my guitars, my wife’s violin, or ANY of my family’s instruments, need servicing. They REALLY care about the work that they do, and their expertise shows in every inch of their work. Thank you for always taking care of me! Because of you I can relax and focus on practicing, but let me know if you figure out how to do that for me too!
The guy that was working there was not very friendly but they got the job done
They had what I needed
Just a little expensive but they had what we needed
