Awesome! The service was great, and the guitar tech did a great job fixing up one of my axe’s.
Every staff member that we have encountered at this store is absolutely amazing! Our 11 year old son is taking guitar lessons and is having a blast! Thank you all for being so awesome.
It’s ok, but local shops are better. The people at the local shops tend to know more about the gear, and they usually play.
Staff were super helpful, prices are good.
1 left-handed guitar in the place…1.
Awful custom service. Would rather shop at prosound all day.
I was in the store 20 minutes before anyone offered to help me
My husband and I went in here for a quarter inch cable and drumsticks, Stood in line at the counter for about 15 minutes waiting to checkout and no one helped us at all. But that’s all right we will just order off of Amazon where it’s not overpriced and bad customer service.
2. Meeker Music Inc
Address: 624 N Tejon St, Colorado Springs, CO 80903 , Center , Colorado , United States
Friendly staff. You can rent or buy instruments for your kids here. They have reasonable rates and are always helpful.
Local business with good staff and band supplies. Item markup can be a little high, though.
Friendly, family owned music store.
Upset and Embarrassed. We’ve been renting from Meeker this school year for my kid’s alto sax and my clarinet, and they have been very supportive and helpful. I was so excited to hear they were having an Elevate Your Sound event all of May, and hoped to upgrade both our instruments. I made an appointment clearly stating what I was hoping to do. No one responded to me other than to confirm my appointment. I spent a month anticipating, hoping to try some quality instruments by different manufacturers. Instead, as soon as I said student I was met with “oh no, this is for intermediate, here you can try our student stuff.” Totally ruined my excitement, and frankly I was embarrassed.
For a music store, not many options for accessories for electric guitars
My daughter and myself are new to musical instruments and are both learning the guitar together. We were replacing the strings on my daughters classical acoustic with nylon strings and the younger gentleman there did a good job at helping me to find the right ones. When we got home to replace the strings it became clear that these would not work as her guitar required the strings to have the ball stop at the end. Well as we all know being a professional and a Father, Time often times is hard to come by. When I was finally able to get back to the store asking only to return to purchase the correct strings the crass woman I presume is the manager was very rude and unwilling to help out. This is the first encounter I have had at this music shop that was negative but someone whom is so adamant at causing others problems and receives satisfaction out of inconveniencing others is not a good person. This is my experience I thought I would share.
Rude employees
3. Music Go Round Colorado Springs
Address: 410 W Fillmore St, Colorado Springs, CO 80907 , Center , Colorado , United States
These guys are very knowledgeable I love the store
Selection is based on what they currently have. Staff is helpful and knowledgeable.
Nice staff and they had what we needed!
lots of gear and good service
Decent enough selection of electric guitars. Ok selection of keyboards. I think the store is worth stopping by.
I was not impressed with their cellos and violins. (Acoustic room in general). I understand they are used instruments, but half of their selection was missing strings, and strings so loose it was unplayable.
Overall, the store is worth checking out if you just love instruments.
Decent store.
This place is a bunch of thieves they prayed on my wife not knowing anything about the special edition bc rich warbeast with the cream finish she brought in that had never even had the case open and only have her 200 for it after works I called multiple other vendors to see if they had just used her inexperience to steal from her and the consensus was that they should have ok the low end paid her 600 these people are scum that prey of those with not alot of knowledge in musical instrument and should be utterly ashamed!
Staff seems ok
Not helpful
4. Music & Arts
Address: 2872 N Powers Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO 80922 , Center , Colorado , United States
The employees were very friendly and I found what I needed quickly.
I went in to buy a Roland RP102 keyboard and they only had the floor model and I wanted a new unit. Tristan couldn’t find one on their order system so he bent over backward to put me in an upgraded keyboard the RP107. Great customer service. I am excited for it to arrive.
The employees were amazing and so helpful! I could take my time and there was no rush. The prices were competitive and I got a really good deal on my bass and the accessories. Very good store and super nice employees Will and Erin!
Very nice service l and I got an epic instrument
2nd Update- they refunded all the missed lessons and the lady I worked with, Erin, couldn’t have been nicer. I just feel like this shouldn’t have happened in the first place. I still caution readers to watch your bill closely. Document any missed lessons and if you don’t do a make up lesson, make sure you get a credit.
Update – after 4 months of lessons, I am not very happy with this place. The teacher seems fine but they are less than honest with their book keeping. The teacher has had to cancel several times, we had a snow day and we had to cancel once. We didn’t receive any of the 5 credits due to us. I had to call and alert them to this issue. I am now waiting a resolution. However, it makes me wonder how many other people they’ve done this to and how much extra money they make this way. I’m very disappointed. If you take lessons here or are considering it, check your bill closely every month.
I have a child taking lessons here. It’s ok but nothing special. My older child took lessons at a different place and it was a much better experience. If you’re looking for instruments, they have a very small selection. Mostly guitars and a few keyboards. I can’t pinpoint anything wrong, it’s just not the friendliest place. When they didnt have the lesson book the teacher told me to get, they didnt even offer to order it or tell me where I could get it.
Great time getting my daughter to handle different guitars. Very knowledgeable.
Would not purchase from here….just saw the older, lazy man who works there put his cigarette out on the sidewalk and then kick it into the parking area! Lazy, trashy people…and he even saw me watch him do it…not a care in the world!
Save your time and money and go elsewhere for lessons. Music lessons should foster a positive environment and experience for people of all ages and abilities. This is one of the many joys that music brings. Anyone can learn to play an instrument of their choosing. However at this location, the music teacher refused to work with my child at first sight without even letting her show what she already knows or demonstrate her ability for music and learning. Unfortunately, due to this experience my child was very confused and upset that someone would not be willing to teacher her music based on how she looked and perceived her to be too young, even though she’s simply of smaller stature. Based on our experience I can not recommend this business to anyone and will be taking lessons elsewhere.
Worst company in Colorado Springs. Do not sign contract with them or do any business what so ever. They charge my account after the account was closed and refuse to get me any refund. Their excuse is that their system is new and it is backed up. Basically they treat people like they are idiots. When I first started with them they say that if class is cancelled they would issue refund and I am still waiting for 3 classes of refund after I have been promised that they will posted a week ago. They will tell you that corporate does that, but they are lying. Their corporate office told me that the refund has to be issued in the store. The store apologized and said that they cannot do that and ticket has to be summited and that was 11 days ago. The company is runned by bunch of crooks on local level who just want to take you money and have no intention of giving you the money back.
5. Moondog Music Shop
Address: 1716 W Uintah St, Colorado Springs, CO 80904 , Center , Colorado , United States
Moondog Mike is the man. He performed a major structural repair on my guitar that no one else in town was willing to deal with, and for an extremely affordable price. Highly recommended.
Mike, the owner, is a great guy who loves music and is very knowledgeable about instruments. I have bought 2 guitars from him (at a very reasonable price) and extremely satisfied. Mike you Rock.
My Telecaster had been running without the neck pickup for months after I got a little too intense on stage one night. I considered fixing it myself, but my knowledge of these things is rudimentary at best. Being new to the area, I took it to Moondog after some recommendations and immediately felt confident about my decision from my conversation with Mike. Two days later I got a call indicating he’d already finished. Not only was it a far lower price than I’d expected, he was also detailed in explaining what he’d done (with photos) and even did a little extra just to make sure my Tele was in the best shape possible. This guitar sounds better than ever, thanks again!
Everyone says this place is always closed when they say that they will be open. Well unfortunately that is the reality I too have experienced. Multiple times I’ve tried to visit during posted operating hours but I can never seem to catch the store open. I’ll keep trying though maybe they need some extra help like a part time employee. We need local musical instrument stores or all there’s gonna be is guitar center.
2nd time I’ve stopped by during advertised open hours and shop is closed. I mentioned this to a friend and he laughed… Apparently it’s pretty difficult to figure out their schedule even though it’s posted on their front window and on the internet. He told me that’s definitely their reputation around town. Maybe it’s an amazing shop. I keep trying to find out.
Stopped by to get a guitar and they are closed. Wish I would have know this, I wouldn’t have drove across town to come here.
Not that great, I went in there with high expectations and came out disappointed. First, I got blatantly ignored, the person who worked there was talking to another person and didn’t acknowledge my existence, He didn’t say anything like ”I’ll be with you in one moment” NOTHING! I stood there awkwardly for about 10 minutes, finally the guy stopped catching up with the other customer and got to me quite UN- enthusiastically.
6. ProSound Music
Address: 2235 Academy Pl, Colorado Springs, CO 80909 , Center , Colorado , United States
Prosound is always my go to for anything guitars. Richard is seriously the best person I could ever ask for in a: salesperson, guitar tech, and friend.
I came by on a Monday morning with a problem – I needed my son’s guitar setup, as well as my own. Their guitar tech did an AMAZING job setting them up, and was able to get the setup done by 5pm, which was no easy thing considering the work that needed to be done in a single day. The service was amazing, the setup was great and it’s good to find a solid guitar tech I can rely on. Highly recommended!
We went here looking for an acoustic guitar. The salesmen was happy to sample several guitars for us (as I don’t currently play). He spent time focused on our needs and was friendly.
Awesome staff! Extremely helpful to beginners and experts. If you ever dreamed of jamming out on guitar or drums, go for it. Nothing better than trying before buying. Prices reasonable.
Over the course of the last few weeks I have spent 7 or so hours in pro sound, between multiple trips. I mainly deal with Luke and he is absolutely amazing, he will go out of his way to help, give demos, and teach you. I had ordered 2 items I needed for a show 10 days away.
Sadly Luke has not been there this week for me to work with and see the status of my order.
In the mean time I have been dealing with a guy by the name of Mark, and I have to say mark is the most useless person I have ever seen with a job. Every time I go into the store he is sitting around, not helping customers. I asked him to check the status of my orders, and he didn’t even look it up in the system, just walked around for 5 minutes and said it will be a few weeks. I was very clear when I ordered I needed my stuff no later then this week, he still didn’t look up the order and was just rude, like sucks to be you. I proceeded to call pro sound back a few hours later which mark answered the phone, I asked if luke was there, and he proceeded to hang up on me. I am only deducting 1 star atm in hopes that I can deal with someone of more intelligence then Mark and still receive my stuff for the show I am doing on time. However this review may drop stars pending on how the service is today
(Mind you i have spent over 400$ there in the last week) and this is the service I’m getting
Well priced guitars and equipment. The people there were very nice and helped me find what i was looking for.
If you want to give away your money then go here. They can’t figure out our rental agreement to save there life. Bu the time they figured out how much longer we had on our rental we had the onstrument paid off and they kept charging us even after that. What a hastle.
This place looks like a garage sale threw up on it. Even the parking lot is literal garbage. Inside is confused and akward. Looked like a swap meet.
The men in this place don’t seem that interested in helping women who come in to their establishment; we were completely ignored. I would recommend trying to find a place that doesn’t discriminate.
7. Elledge Music Inc.
Address: 518 W Northern Ave, Pueblo, CO 81004 , Center , Colorado , United States
Wonderful owner who works with people especially students trying to get them the best value and price when purchasing a new instrument.
This my kind of music store. I get my harmonicas here, excellent instruments at a fair price. I also get sheet music and books, cables, mic stands, etc. Always great service.
Nice people and very helpful
Fun music store….. unique classic place
Really nice man who’ll help you with anything owns this place. Been in Pueblo forever!
What can I say? Elledge has been here a LONG LONG time!! If you need an instrument I recommend checking in here first. 🙂
I called, and inquired as to whether he purchased instruments at his location. I am new to the area. He responded “that’s why I have a music store, to buy and sell instruments”. When I gave him my instrument model (custom Ibanez in wonderful condition), he responded again by changing his statement. He said “I have too many instruments, I only want to sell”. I don’t leave reviews often, but this seemed necessary for future shoppers here.
I visited this music store with my cousin as his banjo was fixed and ready to be paid and taken home, Also with intent to buy their Luna electric but 5 minutes after entering the store and testing the poorly tuned guitars and tuning them for the store i was told by Mike that we’re too poor and can’t buy anything so I need to leave the store as they are busy and they don’t want to have to clean the guitars anymore from people touching them, (there was no business even going on except for them walking around and watching me or sitting down waiting for a customer.) So my cousin and I promptly left without a word, came back with the cash to pay off the repairs and I told them they lost our business.
If you would like to be treated like a clumsy, dirt poor fool while looking for a new guitar then this is the place for you! Otherwise steer clear of this rude and hateful establishment!
Be open when you say your open.
8. Guitar Center
Address: 1585 S Colorado Blvd, Denver, CO 80222 , Center , Colorado , United States
John in pro audio did an awesome job helping me out. He made absolutely sure I was getting what I wanted out of a new controller
Don’t know where to start looking. People are so helpful
Nice selection of guitars
All the best guitars are locked up and you can’t test out anything without an employee. Not a fan of that. Sometimes I just want to jam out without bothering an employee.
I like the concept of guitar center. The staff is either pushy or they ignore you. Prices are reasonable and the selection of stock is great. Id prefer a mom and pop music store feel with amazon style prices… this is that middle ground.
Do not buy pro coverage. Its a 3 week wait till your original receipt is received and processed then another week till you receive a gift card. Sales people make it sound like an actual replacement plan, instead you have to jump through hoops to get a gift card a month out.
Very disappointing service
Terrible customer service. They have one price tag for different types of plugs and it enda up being 10-15$ more than the price tag. There were three salesmen by the cashier and they all walked off without saying anything, no respect for customers.
No tienen sino 02 guitarras zurdas en toda la tienda. En que fallamos?
9. Meeker Music
Address: 3604 Hartsel Dr Unit E, Colorado Springs, CO 80920 , Center , Colorado , United States
Great service. The staff takes an interest in you and your musical instrument.
They have always been very helpful. May is their instrument sale. We have never had a problem with this store.
These guys are great. They totally specialize in the school band rental market. That’s why we’re there. And they do it flawlessly!
Smaller store but pretty knowledgeable and helpful for the novice musicians. Reasonably priced accessories.
Great for beginners. Not a pro shop by any means.
Limited selection at this location. Staff is eager to send you downtown for things they don’t have at this location.
I agree with the man who said he felt rushed. Owner said they always ask “How can I help you?” Suggestion: That phrase assumes the customer NEEDS help, when they may know exactly where to go to help themselves. A better question would be “Can I help you?”. That leaves customer free to say “No, thanks. I am good”. My suggestion is more respectful, more friendly (customer knows staff sees them and is available without the pressure first question gives.) Know that there are many of us who would feel better about the second question. I have not been back after experiencing that first question. It just felt too pushy. Let us breathe.
Customer Service is Everything even the little things count
Awful customer service. Instead of greeting us when we walked in, the woman behind the counter told us to write down our names and they would get to us when they could. Then she proceeded to walk off.
All I needed was a book. I stood there holding it for 20 minutes (being ignored) before I finally walked out and drove an extra 15 minutes to Graner music where they have always been nice to me.
If you want fast and friendly help, I recommend going to Graner instead.
***Response from the store owner has absolutely nothing to do with the fact the staff was rude to me and ignored me while I stood at the counter with only a book when there was only one other person in the store.
10. Square Music Company
Address: 2332 Vickers Dr, Colorado Springs, CO 80918 , Center , Colorado , United States
If you build instruments in Springs area, this is the place to sell them. Support a local business.
Square Music is awesome The people that run it are super friendly and have been exceptionally patient with my special needs son as far as teaching him basic musical concepts and also how to have a helluva good time! Also, they do basically everything, instrument sales and repairs as well as lessons but also Music therapy and local art. Rad little joint, do recommend.
I came in with a guitar that had been sitting unused for 10+ years. The guys in the shop were able to look it over, restring, and share where to start since I’m dipping my toes in and teaching myself. The customer service was fantastic. I will be back & won’t hesitate to tell others where to go for a personal experience. Thank you!!
Dead business. No one answered the door, or phone during normal business hours. Would have liked to drop some $$$ on a local business, but I guess I’ll go to another major retailer.
11. Guitar Center
Address: 8601 Sheridan Boulevard G, Arvada, CO 80003 , Center , Colorado , United States
Knowledgeable and helpful staff, purchased a basic kit for my daughters middle school band class.
They have all the gear an advanced musician would need
Exelente lugar pero es un poco alto los precisos
Customer service friendliness?????
Wish I could play the guitars without wearing a mask, but that’s not Guitar Center’s doing.
Where to begin… DO NOT SHOP HERE!!! This place is just awful!!! Their employees are pushy as hell!!! They are all just wannabe musicians who want discounted gear. Half their guitars on display are damaged or broken, and when you ask for one in a box the employees don’t care and “accidentally” hit the box on the counter and then act like it’s no big deal! If I am going to be paying $500 for something please Handel it with care. Also!!! If I decide that I want a certain finish on a guitar please don’t bring me out a different finish and try to convince me to buy that one just so you can make a sale! Extremely rude.
I took my guitar to repair and they told me they will call me the next day. I waited for a week and called back twice but no updates. I wasted a lot of time. Maybe a good place to buy guitar or take class, but not recommend to repair guitar here.
I can never find what I need here
12. Guitar Center
Address: 9647 E County Line Rd, Englewood, CO 80112 , Center , Colorado , United States
Always get what I need when I come here. The sales associate AJ, did an amazing job. The store was very busy, but he made sure everyone was taken care of. Very satisfied
I bought a new pair of GT 6V6 power tubes. Both bad out of the box. They’re going to replace them. As it should be.
Staff very friendly and helpful, grandson just started guitar lessons and is enjoying the experience!
Good. The people are very helpful!
Decent selection. Staff seemed disinterested in my presence left alone most other peoples. Not very big compared to others
Patience required. Every time you enter expect to wait. Regardless of what you are doing, just hold tight and be patient to the solitary employee who regardless of day or time is always alone and always overwhelmed. If you place an order online don’t expect any communication when it’s ready. Just head in after a few hours and wait… They should get a number system so I could at least browse around and spend more money while I’m waiting.
I visited this store on Sunday at 3p.m.
I wanted help with determining the string gauge on a Guitar.
Was told the “tech” was out to lunch at 3 pm. and that he was the only person in the entire “Guitar Center” who was qualified to ascertain the gauge of a string. Nice
Counter guy says, it that o.k?
Well, not really, I would think that there must be someone on staff in a so called Guitar Store to help with something as simple as this.
Do prospective customers come to a store only to be told that they need to come back another time? I guess my perception of quality of service
is just well off the mark.
If they are that inept, I would not consider taking any of my Guitars there for service, not would I purchase one from them.
Also, I would think that Guitar Center might consider that when people enter their store, many times they are just trying them on. I guess that they just don’t get that.
I don’t know, every time I go into this store-, which has been about a half dozen times- I have a lackluster experience.
They are overpriced anyway-so I don’t think I’ll be going back.
A great store for beginners, maybe. Good Luck
I have really enjoyed my ukulele lessons with Kyler. Joey, the lesson manager needs some additional training and help. I have tried to communicate with him about billing and payments but most of the time Joey says that he will take care of it and nothing happens. With the current issue, I have been charged incorrectly and I don’t want to hear another comment from Joey that he will take care of it when nothing has changed for three months after returning to the guitar center. I don’t want to hear from management that we are sorry. The overcharge is going to hurt my budget for food
Haggling is the name of the game, if you pay full price you’re doing it wrong at guitar center. They even tried to sharpie on a fake limited edition number on a guitar and “couldn’t find” the certificate of authenticity or a serial number when I asked. I’ve been visiting this specific store for almost 20 years with no changes over that time.
13. Graner School of Music
Address: 4460 Barnes Rd, Colorado Springs, CO 80917 , Center , Colorado , United States
22 years ago i rented a violin from Graner. Now I’m a working opera singer. Graner has always been my go to for anything music, even when i lived out of town. Between instrument repairs, rentals, practice spaces…. this store is a staple in the Colorado Springs music scene.
Definitely recommend this place to any one! Kyle was extremely helpful! Best music store in the Springs!
Graner is my go-to for piano scores, they have a great selection and it seems every time I visit I leave with a new music book in hand. They have also been more than happy to order anything for me if out of stock. Take that, Amazon! Great service and accommodations always. Have also used their recital hall a couple times for the AMS recital and it’s a great space. I consistently recommend this store to all my friends.
Great service, very helpful!
Very helpful. Explained all contracts well, good with kids, instructors onsite. Staff helpful.
Great place for kids to get musical lessons, voice lessons and books and instruments. They also do repairs here
Chelsea with Graner music is the most unprofessional and unreasonable person I have ever dealt with. I would highly encourage you to go with another company and not rent equipment through this one. The principal at my child’s school forewarned me about Graner and I wish I would have listened.
The people who work here are complete elitists. If you don’t have a $15k instrument they will repeatedly refer to your instrument as “cheap” and make comments like “If you ever want to upgrade to a decent instrument make sure you come back and see us.” My instrument is $2k so perhaps in the grand scheme of things it is on the lower end, but I don’t at all understand their sales tactic of trying to belittle you and your instrument. It was such a poor experience, both in-store and on the phone. Go someplace that doesn’t make you feel less than.
Pretty disappointed in all honesty. I was recommended this place by other music stores around town that couldn’t provide what I needed.
The selection of the instruments and accessories seemed to be impressive!
What was most disappointing was the customer service. There was a very nice woman upfront, sadly losing her voice, but was sweet the whole time!
Mike, was not.
To avoid a novel, wording is key! There’s no need to constantly criticize someone’s instrument, constantly tell them to return it because it won’t work, and then try to just sell their inventory.
He seemed knowledgeable when he spoke of the instrument, but to only push for a sale, sad.
After leaving something there and returning to get it, the additional comment of “did you take it back?” Was not needed.
A fellow musician should encourage, not discourage and try to push a sale. As a salesman, if your customer wants a peg, just sell them a peg.
14. The Denver Folklore Center
Address: 1893 S Pearl St, Denver, CO 80210 , Center , Colorado , United States
Attentive and very knowledgable staff! Found the guitar I was looking for within the price range I had hoped– the owner really listened to find out what I was looking for and match that to the right guitar, rather than just trying to “sell” what was on hand. A great experience.
Harry Tuft did this. The place to go since the 60’s. I got some great guitar lessons from Don Debacker back in ’67. They shut down their place on 17th and later Harry opened up this other shop. They used to support folksingers, gave them a place to play. Harry died. I haven’t been there since and I hope they are carrying on Harry’s ethos.
Best Uke selection in the state and awesome service
Knowledgeable staff, great selection
I haven’t been there in 20-30 years. It was always a good place for young hippie musicians and a counter culture gathering place. Always enjoyed going there. I’ve known the main guy there since I was a teenager (50 yrs ago).
We went in to try to find a mandolin. The store is smallish but selection is good. Very “buy something now or leave” vibe. We were able to get some questions answered by their seemingly knowledgeable staff, but the way we were treated made it difficult to find an instrument that might be a good fit.
I miss Harry. He was polite to his customers.
Worst service ever! Don’t go to this place for guitar help. Go for frustration and disappointment. They’re really good at providing that.
I was playing instruments hoping to buy a banjo from them, I don’t know anything about banjos, and I was nervous so I was playing some guitars and nobody really ask me anything, and a guy the came up to me and told me they don’t like people playing their instruments, so I left and bought a brand new banjo online deering model its cool came in perfect condition ready to play. I’ve experienced this at other places but that’s a funny way to sell instruments.
Also I was the only person in the store and was playing lightly, and I was considering buying one of the guitars, but definitely not from them.
15. Guitar Center
Address: 2424 US-6 & 50, Grand Junction, CO 81505 , Center , Colorado , United States
These guys are Awesome , Great People, Great Service!!!!
I love this place. They are open-minded, kind, friendly, and helpful. The staff is amazing! Christian is the best!
This review is mostly for the repair shop.
They did a great job setting up my 2009 Les Paul Studio (I purchased online “as is”). It was in real rough shape like totally unplayable and my wanting to switch to lighter strings didn’t help it. Fixed the hump in the neck, the most noticeable problem & adjusted everything else. The guitar now plays like new again set up with 9’s & with the Burstbucker Pro’s it sound’s frikin awesome!!!
It was done in 24 hours! I picked it up just after opening day after I brought it in.
The cost wasn’t bad, less than what I had expected.
The folks in this store are very cool but
honestly I’ve only purchased strings at the store, the prices are competitive & they’ve always had why I needed.
I don’t buy new guitars! never have never will.
Like many of you I haven’t had the best experience with Guitar Center online so I was kinda anxious about going to the Grand Junction store, but it’s a local store and they do a great job.
Read all of Guitar Center reviews, then go into the store. You’ll soon see all the negative reviews are true.
Horrible place. I’ll stick with the local music stores.
16. Rockley Music Center
Address: 4880 N Robb St #1, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033 , Center , Colorado , United States
Love my new piano from Rockley Music Center! Thanks for helping me find my match.
All my visits have been very good. You have good people here, they treat customers very well. Thank you for being here.
Nice people
Thanks For the Workshop
this is the closest music store to my house. What a shame, because I wont go there ever again. I wasn’t greeted when I walked through the door. I got a snobby attitude from pretty much everybody, and I had to greet the guy behind the counter because he was too busy playing his guitar. Anyway I went there for some finger tape and some guitar picks. What ever happened to 5 picks for a dollar? Here they charge $5.65 for 12. anyway they didn’t have the correct size finger tape for my violin.
Chris was very helpful when I was having issues with my piano. He promptly got a technician out to my house. At first he did not discover the real issue with the piano, so it took some prompting on my part to get the technician to return and take a closer look at the piano. (This is the reason why I gave this review only four out of five stars) But after the technician came out again and took a closer look, he discovered the soundboard issue and Chris promptly ordered me a replacement piano. He also made sure to look it over himself personally to see to it that I was getting a very good replacement, better than my original piano. After it has been tuned, the piano is sounding beautiful and I am very appreciative to Chris for all of his extra effort in making me a happy musician once again. Thank you Chris and Rockleys.
Rockley Music has a great selection of sheet music and high-end instruments. They also have some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced any where.
Agree with those that have seen this store’s decline….used to be great, enthusiastic people that wanted to help you in your musical journey. Now, its almost like helping someone out and making a sale is just troublesome. Did everything I could to get the guy in guitars to work with me on building my pedal board…..needless to say, he made several promises that he forgot about the second i walked out the door. I was practically throwing myself at them, telling them i wanted to buy locally, and they just didn’t care. Oh well.
PS Since then i’ve found: Wildwood Guitars in Louisville is great for pedals, as is Music Gear Guys on South Broadway if you want to buy locally. Flescher-Hinton for repairs.
Stopped in to look at pianos. The sales person made this an extremely uncomfortable experience. How do they expect to sell a piano when they don’t even like to let customers play them? It’s a big purchase, and something you have to try and compare before buying. The sales person kept hovering and telling me prices, implying I couldn’t afford them, and even started obnoxiously banging out a tune to drown me out because he didn’t like me playing a pricy model. (I’m not a pro, but I don’t suck, Hehe) It’s sad there are so few piano stores left, but unless this one treats potential customers better, it won’t be missed.
Also checked out string prices for my violin. Don’t bother. Try somewhere else or online.
17. Colorado Institute of Musical Instrument Technology
Address: 651 Topeka Way # 100, Castle Rock, CO 80109 , Center , Colorado , United States
Within 5 minutes of getting there, they had my instrument ready to be fixed.
If you’re looking for a quick repair, or to buy a whole new instrument, this is your place.
If you need to get some repair tools for yourself, they will sell.
They may even teach you a few things about the repair process for free!
All in all, I’d recommend CIOMIT to everyone.
The team at CIOMIT has taken great care of all of our brass instruments. My daughter’s trumpets needed some TLC after we acquired them, now they are in tip top shape. My French horn needed some cleaning and some slides unstuck, after I got it back from CIOMIT everything is working well.
Educated teachers for all sorts of instruments.
I went in to get a sticky valve fixed on my trumpet, while the first time the issue was not understood and it was only cleaned I brought it back and re did it, now it’s playing like a dream!
This place is awful. Purchased a flute from a Craigslist posting. Flute doesn’t fit my needs. Attempted to return flute in less than a day and they will not refund me my money.
They never said all sales final. Do not go here. They are shady. The guy Brad sold me the flute for cash to avoid taxes on it.
Be cautious. They may buy insufficient product to replace your expensive equipment.
I took my flute in, not only did they not bash on the flute but they made the flute worse. Now I have to get about $1,000 worth of work on it done. They striped the corkscrew and did not put the pads back in alignment, so now it is harder to play.
Do not rent from this place! Returned the instrument 6 months ago, they are still charging my credit card. Worst customer service I have ever seen in the state of Colorado.
18. Golden Music
Address: 10395 W Colfax Ave, Lakewood, CO 80215 , Center , Colorado , United States
I don’t write many reviews, but wanted to give a shout out to Brandon at Golden Music. I’ve had a couple interactions with Brandon and he’s extremely approachable. Beginning to play an instrument can be an intimidating affair on its own, let alone asking basic questions to someone who is an expert. Luckily Brandon is genuine, patient, and listens well. Thanks for the great experience, I’ll be back again soon!
Took my brand new tenor sax in for an inspection are the end of May 2020 to make sure everything was in good working order from the factory. They told me it would be about a week. 2 weeks later I called to check the status and was told they had to quarantine all horns before working on them. That makes sense during covid craziness but they shouldn’t have lied to me when I took it in.
Two weeks after that, I called again to check the status. Apparently the day after I called the first time they “cleaned it and checked every key” but when they called to tell me I had the audacity to not answer the phone. They didn’t leave a voice message or ever try to call back. When I told them I was pissed about that they tried to blame it on covid! Because apparently the virus changed the way PHONES WORK!
I had decided that I wasn’t going to leave a bad review because I know how hard it can be as a small business owner myself. Then I tried to play my horn. The spring on one of the palm keys was completely out of place. It’s a 30-second fix but I JUST PAID $100 to avoid this exact problem. So basically I paid $100 to have my factory new sax that didn’t need cleaning cleaned and to have someone claim to check it and miss one of the simplest problems a sax can have. In other words they didn’t do crap, took a month to not do crap, and charged me $100 for crap. Even leaving a voice message was too much effort.
I rarely say “I’ll never be back” to a business because we’re all human and mistakes happen but this was over the top. I honestly don’t think they actually did anything and charged me for it.
On a positive note, their prices for accessories are pretty decent.
Update: After leaving a bad review the store did contact me and offer to make it right. I have to give them credit for that. So I upped my rating based on their willingness to do that.
I’m renting a violin for my daughter for elementary orchestra with Golden Music. At the rental night they were very helpful, informative and patient. One of the owners sized my daughter to make sure that moving her up from her 3/4 to a full sized violin was the right move and then got us all set up! They also deliver to the school or even your house if you don’t live near their store. I’ll update or add a review as we go since we are just beginning to work with them but a great help and service so far!
Meh
Keep a close eye on your account! Three months after receiving an invoice that I fully paid for my instrument they took money out of my account. After calling three times they replied that they messed up but would not honor their invoice. Stay away from them. They are not worth your time or money.
Tried to have them fix my nephews instrument, they called and told me it was too cheap of an instrument to bother fixing. Most insulting customer service I’ve ever had.
Horrible experience. Brought in my violin to have it priced and they said they’ll need two weeks (first red flag). Then three weeks pass and they still have not done anything. When I came to pick up my instrument, the employee had to look through piles of others to finally find it. Shows you how much they care for the instruments that are placed under their care…
Called Von’s Violin Shop in Hampton and the worker said to price would only take~ 15 mins. That’s where I’ll be going.
19. GLENWOOD MUSIC
Address: 3102 Blake Ave D, Glenwood Springs, CO 81601 , Center , Colorado , United States
Great little music store with lots of brand name instruments and helpful salespeople.
These guys are great. I have bought instruments, music and supplies from them for years, and they are always available with helpful advice.
Incredible store chocked full of different instruments. Decent pricing and staff was above and beyond.
Guess you’re not open until 6pm…
Extremely helpful and friendly. Beautiful shop. They added a additional area January 2019 ish with a great guitar room and piano area.
Hay todo tipo de instrumentos a precios razonables
I took my guitar in to sell on consignment. I was told I would be called when it sold. After 2 weeks I called to see if it sold. I was then told it had sold the week before but I never was called by the owner. When I went in to get my portion of the money, the owner was very standoffish and if he had been a bit more approachable I would have told him how he never called me to tell me it sold. Luckily I won’t have any reason to go back there for any reason!
Terrible service. Always regret spending money there because of the service.
Customer service is absolutely awful. The rudest staff I have ever had to deal with. They are so pompous and rude I am sad I gave them my money. If you aren’t knowledgeable about music DONT GO HERE, the staff is terrible to customers who don’t know music. I would recommend taking your business elsewhere or just shopping online. Not one member of the staff is nice and helpful, worst musical experience ever!
20. Steve’s Guitars
Address: 19 N 4th St, Carbondale, CO 81623 , Center , Colorado , United States
Steve is a chill guy. I hang out around his venue.
Such a unique spot for musician lovers, guitars and other musical instruments cover the walls. I often here some great music playing when I walk by
Intimate, beautiful guitar display. Fun nice place to get to know musicians upclose. Byob.
Intimate venue blanketed in an eclectic collection of guitars. Great for solo or small acts to play in, especially warm acoustics.
It’s ok
This place chronically doesn’t pay their musicians who play there. 50% cut of door sales?? No response when folks try to collect their earnings?? Support local music – not this place.
