My experience tonight was excellent. My fries was hot, my burger was fresh and my cookies straight out the oven..I’m lovin it!!!!
Fast and hot food
Conveniently located.
Not a fan of the new self service.
Losing the person touch. Everyone is becoming a credit card swipe
Good drive thru.
They are slow as Christmas way to slow for a fast food place
I went to the drive through for tea. There were already two other vehicles in line at the window. It took what seemed way too long for the first of the two to get finished. The next was a little slow too. The server was polite. After we had already gotten back out on the road, I noticed that my tea was just slightly soured… I didn’t go back. Lesson to me… Get a fountain drink late at night instead of tea.
I cant remember getting a hot meal at this place. Every time I have been here, the food was old and dry. I tend to avoid this place
Got told a U bass is rare yet at bailey brothers (within walking distance)I found two that were better quality and cheaper
Great selection of Christmas sheet music.
Repair shop – especially the woodwind tech, Brian, since I’m a sax player – are fantastic. Very knowledgeable about the workings of the instrument and willing to work with you on modifications. I’ve taken several saxophones for full overhauls and they are lightyears better than before. Even when I move I will try and get work done here if I can.
Very helpful but the instruments are pretty expensive
Very helpful and friendly
Wonderful customer service
No se los recomiendo, es mejor comprar en online
I will never shop here again. They take advantage of the schools and over price. They finance at 300% interest. Total ripoff.
You should think about buying an instrument from another source, this place is a money pit, will find ways to charge you more than you should have to pay. They have in-house repair but will charge alot for any normal wear and tear, when you turn in a rental instrument after just 4 months rental. Ended up spending around $500. Should have bought an instrument elsewhere and would have owned it for that amount. Wish I had listened to my intuition. Lesson learned.
9. Bailey Brothers Music Company
Address: 4673 US-280 Suite # 7, Birmingham, AL 35242 , Chelsea , Alabama , United States
Waylon is awesome. He’s knowledgeable, and clearly enjoys what he does. Always hooks me up with the right equipment.
I went in to buy a Keyboard and walked out as a very Happy customer! Customer service was very friendly and knowledgeable as well! Ty Bailey Brothers for making my passion in music become a reality! Highly Recommended!
Great customer service. Great selection. However, I was NOT thrilled to see their logo custom printed onto the snare head I bought. Would have received 5 stars if not for that. Going to remove it with some acetone.
Good service. Knowledgeable staff. Wish there was one closer to us!
I needed to buy instruments for my Middle School kids. They were very upfront with their prices and seemed to have the best deals.
I came in here the other day and they were incredibly overbearing and checked in on me every 30 seconds. From the second I walked in they were all up in my face and insisted on providing an address and phone number whenever I paid which I fully expect to be sold somewhere. I don’t know if they’re struggling to keep the lights on or something but the amount of customer service was way too much and came across as pushy and rude. Literally just let me shop.
Don’t answer the phone
I would use profane language, but it would not adequately describe the crap this company pulled. Basically, I took my brother to trade a PRISTINE first-owner amp, and we could prove it, in for a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, used, which is of equal value….and my brother coughed up $100.
I took off work to take him to initially buy the thing. I took off work to bring it in for repair when we discovered sticky crap on the power tubes, and I ended up working until 10PM thanks to these guys. They wanted me to take off work again, after having spent 5 hours in their store. I basically spoke up and said, he might be the customer, but I’m the wheelman, and I’m furious. I mentioned the fact of the wasted gas, wasted trips, and the at least 6 hours of driving they were expecting of me.
They checked OUR amp out very thoroughly, and even treated my brother like a criminal, saying they are getting his DL in case he stole it. SERIOUSLY people….
I tried to talk some business sense with them, asking them to do something for the trouble, and it would not have taken much. They said no. Then I asked if they can just reverse everything since ALL of the stuff was still in the store…. The guy made up a story of a law, which actually doesn’t exist, then claiming he has to charge extra to reverse it all. Guitar Center evidently doesn’t know about this (fake) law.
Not ONLY that, but the smug, d-bag attitude that the guy gave me when pushing my brother, his CUSTOMER aside to say “you don’t think we’re trying to rip you off do you?” He did this to put me on the spot, and tried to make me look like the bad guy.
In the end, my brother spent another $170 to get a new model. In the end, he got what he wanted, but we are both appalled by how the guy behaved to our faces. Beware, their used gear has NO warranty, but they represented at sale that they would ensure the gear works if something went wrong like the day we get it… Well… it did.
You don’t take someone’s $700 amp + $100 and then give them junk, and not try to do something proper after dragging someone thru hell. That’s the bottom line. I tried more than the guy at this store. You won’t catch us in that place again.
Considering the tens of thousands that my brother spent with other companies, Bailey Brothers missed an opportunity… Not good business. Dishonest, rude, and outright condescending. Smiled at us when we expressed our frustration with the runaround….
10. Redbox
Address: 501 Chelsea Xrds, Chelsea, AL 35043 , Chelsea , Alabama , United States
Such a great place with beautiful clothing! The staff and owner were sooo sweet, and uplifting while I tried on clothing I never thought would look cute on me. I also had both my small children, and instead of being annoyed they were there, they loved on my sweet girls, and even got them pens and paper to draw. Will 100% be going back to get some clothing.
Love Southern Roots!!! In fact need to swing by tomorrow and pick up a couple cute outfits!
Shopped at Southern Roots for many years. Everyone that works there are sweet and the owner is the best. Great prices and a great selection of clothes and gifts.
12. Chelsea Antique Mall
Address: 14569 US-280, Chelsea, AL 35043 , Chelsea , Alabama , United States
Neat shop on the way to Birmingham, AL. Found some amazing rare books and the prices were more than fair.
Great place and super people! I love this place
Lots of goodies…
Always have some interesting items, made some great purchases.
Nothing special… quite a bit of over priced stuff… nice variety..
This is a good antique store. Many vendors selling good old stuff. Not a lot of vendors selling reproduction items here. As Is the case most places now, prices are, in my opinion, a little high but still a good place to visit.
Prices are extremely high compared to other antique stores on 280. Will not go back.
Nice sized shop with a large selection and some interesting items, but wow, prices are high! This must be an antique store for the very affluent. The items for sale didn’t strike me as anymore collectible than what other antique stores in the area carry. Not worth the 30 min drive from Birmingham.
Good luck finding anything less than $200! They really need a team of employees to walk you around and explain WHY in the world the stuff cost so so so so so much!
I know it’s not the owners of the stores fault, it’s the booth owners dumb thinking of what is “valuable “
13. Gadsden Music Company – Birmingham
Address: 4524 Southlake Pkwy, Birmingham, AL 35244 , Chelsea , Alabama , United States
Very helpful and knowledgeable about musical instruments.
Good people great service
Clean! I love it!
Overall good store, but lacking in some instrument accessories.
Fantastic friendly service at a reasonable price
No Gibson guitars.
I usually do not write reviews but feel a need this time. My purchase was made at the Gadsden Music location on Southlake Parkway Hoover Alabama. The store associate/representative was borderline rude!!
We came in to purchase a violin for our child. They had one in stock, but the gentleman helping us was unable to answer any questions about it and the other two employees working there did not seem interested in helping us either. Considering the great reviews that this store has, we expected our experience to be much different than this. We ended up purchasing a violin at another store where they had knowledge of the instrument and took the time to answer our questions.
I have an account with this company and when I arrived to drop off an instrument, I was immediately told
“Do you have a repair? Can you leave it at least a month? We’re that backed up and that’s just the way it is.” I have no problem with businesses having business but I do have a problem with being a loyal customer and being spoken to so rudely. I will not be returning for any new future transactions. What an unfortunate example of bad customer service.
14. MediaMerge
Address: 12585 Old Hwy 280 #105, Chelsea, AL 35043 , Chelsea , Alabama , United States
If you want superior technology, the latest creative ideas, from growing your church congrigations to making your board room high tech. The work they did in Boston
Tea Party Museum and Skywalk is truly Disney magic. Just look through their portfolio of work to understand how brilliant MediaMerge really is. Mr. McKibben is so thorough and detailed, with decades of experience and know how, you couldn’t trust a better group of individuals.
Our church has had an excellent experience and relationship with MediaMerge over several years, but most recently with a total rebuild of our worship center audio, video and lighting systems. Their attention to detail, service and final product were right on target for what we needed and have made a tremendous difference in our worship experience.

15. Guitar Center
Address: 1694 Montgomery Hwy, Hoover, AL 35216 , Chelsea , Alabama , United States
Great service and instrument selection very clean.
Great guitar center, super staff very knowledgeable. Great used and new instruments and equipment.
I like going here.
The last of the big brick and mortar music stores and it’s days are numbered. Still the Hoover Guitar Center is clean with knowledgeable and polite employees. They have a good tech if you need your instrument repaired or upgraded. While they still live come on by and stare at the beautiful guitars that you can’t afford!
I have been to many Guitar Centers around the US and always get great service with knowledgeable staff who can help you on the spot. This wasn’t the case with me. I wasted a lot of time and did not get good help.
Update, a year later…My brother decides, against my advice, to give this GC another chance. He needed one very simple thing done, with a simple allen key… The guitar tech and a manager decided they would throw the review back into his face.
YOU DO REALIZE THAT RETALIATING AGAINST A CUSTOMER FOR A REVIEW IS ILLEGAL AS OF JANUARY 2017, RIGHT? ….thanks to a law signed by Pres. Obama. I guess he did one thing right…
Old review: After being in this store, seeing how other customers like my brother is treated, I can’t justify buying a guitar pick there.
When you take an issue to a customer service manager, their job is not to make cracks about politicians. Their job is to resolve issues.
A guitar tech’s job is not finished until the work is properly tested. If you received a working guitar, including coil tapping and bridge pickup working, then it should exit your shop with coil tapping and bridge pickup working.
Guitar store that absolutely hates selling guitars. Or guitar services. This place ought to be replaced by something actually useful. Like a Staples!
Just left out the guitar center in hoover and was willing to purchase my products cash money and was not acknowledge by several employees that walked past me and my girlfriend as if they did not see us, I decided not to ever go here again and ill make sure my dj friends doesnt either!!!
16. Casebere Violins
Address: 4717 Eagle Wood Ct, Birmingham, AL 35242 , Chelsea , Alabama , United States
John takes his time and explains everything to you about your violin. He does not recommend an upgrade (bow or strings) unless he truly thinks it is absolutely necessary. He is a outstanding luthier.
John is very knowledgeable and friendly. Quality luthier work and excellent instruments
John is a super nice man to work with, and is very knowledgeable at what he does! Great, clean shop with a nice selection of instruments, accessories, and pretty much anything else you’d need for your violin or cello! This was my first visit, and I ended up renting a violin. Thanks John!
Very friendly
They don’t make ’em like this anymore. Best place in town for quality acoustic instruments and service.
Do not recommend, was extremely rude over the phone and continued to interrupt me.
17. SAM Productions LLC
Address: 2034 Forest Lakes Ln, Sterrett, AL 35147 , Chelsea , Alabama , United States
Love Bob..Great guy..very experienced and funny too…Love doing business there always!
Best experience, they are very hands on and help you for what you are looking for and figuring out what you are looking for if you have no clue about stringed instruments and wanting to start, I have been going to this shop for a while now and I can’t help but wonder what inspired this small group of people to carry out such a remarkable business carried down from father to son. This company, let me rephrase that, this family of people related or unrelated, have made a truly inspired mark on many people’s lives by touching them with the art of music.
Great place for stringed instruments
Good product, Good service.
Friendly atmosphere and lots of instruments.
I’ve never dealt with someone so rude over the phone. The owner tried to guilt me with sarcasm and acted like victim when I questioned a price. Full story: I asked to order a cello string. All was going well (owner answered questions about speed of shipping and availability of the string), but then he quoted a price ($81) that was far above what other shops charge. I said respectfully that “I’ve purchased the string for $45 at other walk-in shops” and he became sarcastic and argumentative with me, claiming he was “holding my hand” through the process, and said “Well, I have to pay $35 for this string so what do YOU think is fair for ME to make? $15? What is 35 + 15, huh? Ohhh, maybe $50 is more than you can afford?” A simple, “well this is my price” would have been fine as a response from him, but I felt disrespected so I hung up and decided I’m never going to spend a dime Homewood Musical Instrument Co. I advise everyone else to steer clear of this shop and the guy who owns it.
19. Highland Music
Address: 3000 Clairmont Ave, Birmingham, AL 35205 , Chelsea , Alabama , United States
Great selection of musical instruments and equipment.
Harold Has been working on my guitars for years. Always get a great deal.
lurking in one of the side rooms of this place is a master les paul luthier.
I had a gibson gold top lp pro p90 that i was about to sell because i just didnt think i liked p90s. After Harold got ahold of it i can now say i love p90s and this lp isnt going anywhere. setup was flawless. Harold is the man! highly recommend
Bought a guita there yeRs ago. Just visiting the store ‘off Highland’ for the first time. Nice array of guitars !
It kind of feels like grandpa’s basement here, in a good way. Lots of interesting gear to browse through, plenty of it gently used and ready to be rocked again. There are some Strats hanging here that anyone would love to own, plenty of great options for tube amps, replacement speakers and even an eclectic assortment of used pedals that are worth picking through.
Pricing for everything is slightly higher than online for same items, BUT, you get to support a local business and take it home today. It’s the kind of place I’d stop in to a couple times a year if I lived here. Character.
Got a good deal on a used Vox guitar amp. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. I fully intend to return.
Pretty darn rude staff, including the owner, Don. After 40 years in business I guess they’ve earned the right, though.
As a local of BHM I’ve been to Highland Music many times over the last 10 years or so. They’ve always had an interesting selection of gear. You’ll see the usual flow of second-hand gear pass through. It seems like a popular place to sell your guitar or amp on consignment. Highland also has some neat vintage stuff. They have several vintage CBS era Strats hanging out behind the counter. They have always managed to have a few other vintage Fenders too. They even have a literal wall of vintage Fender Champ amps that include tweed, blackface, and silverface era examples. So why the low score you ask?
The problem with Highland music is the people working there consistently give customers a negative experience. These guys are unknowledgeable in the gear they carry-not the biggest deal. That would be easily forgiven if it weren’t for their habit of just making up stuff to sound smart when they don’t have an answer. What’s worse than this is their attitude toward customers. Don’t bother asking to play one of those cool vintage guitars. You will only be met with a snide remark about how you probably can’t afford it. Both myself and friends have experienced this kind of rude talk from Highland Music, and it’s honestly lead to our decision of willfully not spending our money there.
I do not intend on bashing this store. I am not an angry internet troll, and this is not that kind of post. I genuinely want to see Highland Music succeed. Despite the faults I have complained about, I think it is the coolest guitar store we have in BHM. I would love to see these sort of things change.
Tried to get my guitars worked on here multiple times. First time was an 8 string, guy said “I don’t like black guitars they scratch too easily” and then rubbed a cloth with steel wool fibers over it and scratched the guitar. GEE I wonder why! Had a pickup swap done on another guitar, put a scratch on it that went through the paint. Not only that, but he took it upon himself to do a full “set up” when I did not ask him to now I have buzz everywhere and it plays worse than it did before, then charged me for it. Oh and the pickups are also out of phase. Sorry, but that’s it. No more chances. Goodbye.
20. Martin’s Music
Address: 5000 US-280 Suite C, Alexander City, AL 35010 , Chelsea , Alabama , United States
The owner is very friendly and willing to help you out. Can order things if he doesn’t have it in his store. Good place to go for musical supplys.
I highly recommend this place for you instrument owners out there! If you have guitar problems or such, this is the best place to go. They are very helpful and knowledgeable.
