They are very helpful, honest, have good prices, and have some very polite cats on the front porch.
I have been using Howard Instrument Service to do all of our instrument repairs, both for customer-owned instruments as well as for our rental pool for almost 2 years now. I have been very pleased with their service. They stand behind their work, and their prices are very competitive. They have most definitely earned my loyalty as the manager of our Rexburg store!
I bought a Yamaha tenor Sax off of ebay that had problems playing low D to low B flat. I took it to a repair shop in Idaho Falls twice but it didn’t help. My brother is a professional musician in Salt Lake, so I took it to his repair person that is very well known. He got it playing better, but D and B were still not right. Then I took it into Donna Howard and she got it playing near perfect with in a half an hour and for a lot less money than the other guys!
2. Mike’s Music
Address: 54 E Main St, Rexburg, ID 83440 , Clark County , Idaho , United States
Its a smaller store in the front area but they acknowledged me right away. I was in the store maybe a total of 10 minutes but I got everything I needed. I had my questions answered, I got my string fixed, and bought a better tuner for what I needed. They didn’t act high and mighty or get frustrated with my little knowledge of music or my ignorance of the instrument. I didn’t feel like they were trying to take advantage of me by trying to make a sale, it was all about me. No pressure, no rush. Definitely what I needed.
I strongly recommend Mike’s Music. Brandon and his staff are always helpful, very knowledgeable and have very competitive prices. I’ve been all around the US to different music shops, I play many instruments and build my own line of guitars: I still go to them for advice now and then. I can attest to their dedication to helping the customer and when I need something music related, I check Mike’s first. I can’t recommend them enough.
When given the choice of buying online or in-person, you should always try to do it in-person first. This is for several reasons, but the strongest one is when dealing with musical instruments, you need to know if it feels right. There’s only one way to do that, and that is to go in and handle it. A guitar can meet all of your spec requirements but still be wrong, for whatever reason. Support this local music store!
Between Mike’s and Chesbro (the other music store in town) I will go to Mike’s over them ALWAYS. Mike’s prices are always better, and the people working there actually say hello and are helpful (see my review of Chesbro’s for more information on that!). I can’t recommend Mike’s enough!
The best local music store in Rexburg! The owner Brandon is a great guy and knows his stuff. Sometimes the employees can be a hit or miss, like the older lady that works there; seems to always have a negative experience with her. Overall the employees are great people, though.
Although the guitar/bass inventory isn’t the biggest, the focus is to sell brands that give you the best bang for your buck and Mike’s does that phenomenally.
I’ve also had my guitars setup a handful of times and haven’t really had any issues there.
This place is good! Not my style of music at all but at least the prices are nice.
hello, I want to know if u have in stock the audiointerface BEHRINGER U-PHORIA UMC204HD and how much does it cost?
Been in here quite a few times and every time the customer service is non-existent. The people who have been working at the various times I’ve come in have been either talking to a friend on the phone instead of helping customers or very stony and clearly didn’t want to talk to anyone. Their manner was almost rude when asked how their day was going.
The store is local and has some good items and a nice music clearance bin up front, but the lack of customer service and overall feeling in the store (it feels like they don’t want you there when you’re inside looking at stuff) will keep me going to the other music stores in the area.
My daughter had Keith as a teacher for a couple months. He really got into the theory of music, and taught a lot of stuff. There was a lot of information in each lesson, but it just didn’t suit my daughter. He goes more into writing your own songs, whereas my daughter just wanted to learn a couple songs, rather than write them. So if you want to be writing music, than Keith might be for you, but if not, I would not advise.
I bought a Behringer UM2 Adio interface here. It was advertised to work on windows computers. I was unable to use the interface due to a driver compatibility issue. When I came to exchange the interface the next day, I was not given a full refund, but $30 in store credit. That means I lost $20 and tax. I was told this was since it was used, but it didn’t work as advertised with my windows pc. I should not be responsible for a manufacturer error.
Two stars since it’s local and somewhat convenient.
3. Chesbro Music Company
Address: 257 N 2nd E, Rexburg, ID 83440 , Clark County , Idaho , United States
I love this place. And I love the family-friendly Open Mic night. It is so amazng and real and personal to be part of the experience, both as a performer and as part of the audience.
Took my daughter in to get fitted for a violin. They have a great rent to own program and it was a quick and easy process. The workers were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Thanks
Andrew was very knowledgeable regarding every topic we inquired about! Our interaction was entertaining, enlightening, and educational.
The music selection they have is surprisingly comprehensive for such a small store, and they have a good deal of variety when it comes to instruments as well.
Chesbro has an awesome selection and always has what I am looking for. Their guitar and bass selection is great and the prices are very reasonable.
However, sometimes the staff is a little overwhelming. One of the dudes, Drew or something, is a know it all and somewhat condescending as if his opinion is the correct one. He also tries to convince you to buy other stuff you don’t want and it makes you want to just not buy anything.
I went to find a particular cable, but they didn’t have it. They had cables spread around the store, and seemed to have a lot of brands of the same product, rather than a diverse range of cable types.
Changed my review since the management change. I am now the guitar tech at Mike’s Music. The new management is really great and have come sent people to us and we like to refer people to them. Each has their strength and we can help each other. Thanks for the new management. They are doing a great job!
Horrible experience. I ended up walking out of there without buying what I needed because I was so annoyed by the experience. I was either ignored or treated like I didn’t know anything. Guy wouldn’t let me finish a sentence without cutting me off and treating me like an idiot. I’m a touring musician. Will NEVER go back.
It smells weird in there
I just don’t understand why the employees are in your face ALL the time. I walk in with my kids to look at instruments and the flipping employee (Andrew I think) won’t leave us alone and let us look around. The dude just tries to sell you stuff you don’t need. Like come on man stop being so pushy and leave us alone. Plus I’ve been doing some comparisons with prices online and Chesbros is overcharging so many of their instruments.
Better train your employees, we aren’t ever coming back here. Do yourself a favor and go to Mikes Music for instruments
4. Ferguson Violins
Address: 351 E 2nd N, Rexburg, ID 83440 , Clark County , Idaho , United States
They repaired an old violin for us and it was top quality work for a very small price. When we had other questions and problems later the staff was always eager to help. Cannot say enough good thing about Fergusons.
My son needed new strings, and a bow rehair, and the lady that was working there was a college student and was really nice, and helped him to what he needed.
Amazing level of service here. Very knowledgeable and TALENTED! My only complaint is that Richard always wants you to “play us a little tune” after he’s fixed up your instrument and/or you’re trying out a few shoulder rests. Having heard him play in person and over the phone, I don’t dare because it’s too intimidating–and I’ve played for well over 35 years and with two different orchestras…LOL! But, seriously, these folks are wonderful. Richard is so willing to help a violinist with shoulder rest or other issues and is always so kind. He also has a marvelous sense of humor, as do his family. If you play a string instrument, then this is THE place to go.
5. Mike’s Music
Address: 2455 N Yellowstone Hwy, Idaho Falls, ID 83401 , Clark County , Idaho , United States
I’ve been going to Mike’s music for over 20 years and that will never change ! Mike and his son Jeremy are freaking AWESOME!!! Don’t ever change ! Prices and quality of music equipment and accessories and service are outstanding!
En este lugar puedes encontrar instrumentos de musica nuevos o usados a algunos precios razonables, de ugual forma puedes vender tus intrumentos que ya no ocupes con ellos
Good selection. Carried amps by Dime.
Best tacos out the door.
ok shop but nofenders or gibsons to name afew midrange to entry level gutairs good shop for first time buyers
Terrible customer service. Everybody that answered the phone was unhelpful. The manager was arrogant. They had a used version of a specific guitar I was looking for but were asking 50$ more than the guitar was brand new on multiple web stores. Horrible experience, will never go back.
Bad customer service
Terrible Customer Service. They wouldn’t even look at me when I was trying to talk to them. The person was looking in a book and was more interested in the book than talking with us. Terrible service. Go to Chesbro!
6. Chesbro Music Company
Address: 327 W Broadway St, Idaho Falls, ID 83402 , Clark County , Idaho , United States
Very impressed by their customer service and management. Thank you for your great service!
This is simply the best music store I have ever been in, and I have been in many. Their extensive collection of music and instruments and gadgets is impressive. I always find what I need. Furthermore, being a family-run business, with many employees who have been there for years, there is always someone who knows what you need to know.
Very friendly staff with a wide selection of instruments. That’s probably how they’ve been in business so long. We stopped in after learning that they have their own brand of acoustic guitars and ukuleles. They not only look great, they sound great and are very affordable. Since we are travelling by motorcycle, we asked and they agreed to ship our purchase home. If you’re in the area and a musician, I highly recommend a stop here.
Very nice place
Friendly service had what I was looking for
Always fun, a good selection for most things and the staff is always friendly.
Not thrilled at all with the service of piano, lessons 110.00 a month for a child only, once a week totally outrageous. Piano gallery was way, cheaper and nicer .
I would never shop at this store, I made the mistake of signing my son up for their rental program which is nothing more than a high interest, high harassment loan scam. These guys are a complete joke. The complete lack of customer service, along with the harassing phone calls, and creepy home visits are enough for me to contact law enforcement. DO NOT give this company your business!
I went there, asked to borrow a guitar cable, and the old guy there said “what for?” After explaining the obvious, he said he didn’t want me playing anything unless I was going to buy something. He then tried to force me to use an amp that I didn’t want to use. After he walked away, I plugged into the tube amp that I wanted to use. He then came back and told me that I wasn’t allowed to play any of the tube amps that were out for people to try. My question is this: why have the tube amps out on the showroom floor if people aren’t allowed to try them? I’m never coming back.
As a professional musician, teacher and music academy owner for over 40 years, I am always thrilled to have an establishment like Teton Music to send our students. Whether they are interested in purchasing a top quality piano, violin or guitar or shopping for sheet music, I can be confident they will find exactly what they need. The staff is knowledgeable, accommodating and courteous. I recommend them without hesitation.
A wonderful selection of Pearl River pianos, and a great inventory of sheet music!
My wife and I were very pleased with the restoration work that Spencer was able to accomplish with the keyboard on our 100 year old Farrand grand piano. His price was very reasonable considering the amount of work it took for him to make the improvements and repairs. The piano looks and plays much better than it did before. We may have him return in the future for some additional work the piano still needs.
Set up a appointment for a piano tuning for 01/27/2023. I waited a month for this appointment. The day finally came and they no called no show and I even call the store to. I waited till next week again to try and contact them and still can’t get ahold of them. I do not recommend this place for piano tuning.
10. Piano Gallery Music Superstore
Address: 2995 E 17th St, Idaho Falls, ID 83406 , Clark County , Idaho , United States
We had them move our piano twice and they stored it for 6 months in between. Did a great job and the price was fair enough I didn’t want to move it myself! Ethan was nothing but professional.
Recently used their piano moving service. Easy, fast, and professional. Could not have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend!
Very knowledgeable people in there. Wonderful atmosphere.
True to their name, they have a lot of pianos. I was slightly disappointed in the lack of electric guitars because of their new “No Limits Guitar Co” name. But they had accessories I needed. And the staff was helpful.
Walked in to look for a up right bass wondered around for 30 min no one else in the store no one offered help then when I asked some one they said they where on the phone with a customer like maybe I would of bought one or paid for some lessons . If I had some help . But a very warm and welcoming place just not staffed on a Thursday
Great music store mostly very nice pianos but why post all these piano teachers on your website if you don’t really have teachers to give lessons??? I called to see if I can start my son on lessons and they told me that they don’t give piano lessons, but was kind enough to give me a few numbers of teachers to call but unfortunately I got not a single call back from any of them. So a 3 stars is for the misleading website.
Good quality products, but poor service. Violin parts are pseudo out of stock and will require up to a week to restock. Would avoid this place for all violin repairs/parts.
They only buy stuff when certain people around, won’t be back
ibanez good

11. Master Keys Music Academy
Address: 218 Dividend Dr #3, Rexburg, ID 83440 , Clark County , Idaho , United States
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. If they don’t have what you are looking for they will help you find it. We have gotten many musical items from this store including a piano, keyboard, sheet music and much more. They also have rental equipment if that is what you are looking for.
Support local business!
Great staff, very helpful. I have been buying kids band books and supplies here for over 5 years.
Very nice. Fast and friendly. I love the guitar strap I purchased plus it felt great to support a local business.
Has a pretty good selection of just about anything a guitarist might need and a friendly staff.
This is my go to bass store, real close to my house, Great Staff, 4 stars because nothing’s perfect
Friendly and helpful
Absolutely horrible customer service. You lost a long time customer.
Very rude people. Extremely over priced. Their used guitars, even the ones in bad shape, are way too much. They take advantage of you not knowing much about how much a guitar or musical instrument is worth, and they rip you off. Please, do not buy from here. I like to support local businesses, but I will not support this one or the owner who I have witnessed multiple times taking advantage of people. Go to any other music store in Pocatello, but please do not support this business.
Do not go there unless you want to be treated poorly and talked down too. The guy (Mike?) kept trying to tell me that my problem was not a real one and he had never heard of that problem before even though he is not proficient in any way in that instrument. He also told me that it must be a cheap instrument if I have that kind of nonexistent problem. I told him I am renting from them and he goes, “oh, I guess we have to make it work right.” When he was able to get the stuck part to move he said, “I don’t see any problem.”he is a lot stronger than me. Curtis is great though.
13. Higgins Sound and Recording
Address: 95 Autumn Winds Lane, Rexburg, ID 83440 , Clark County , Idaho , United States
It is small enough, that it’s not too hard to browse everything and find what else you want. A good place to go for your music needs. We found music for the piano. Staff were helpful, also!
Took my son’s violin in to get a new string put on. I was surprised at how quick they were able to do it & it didn’t cost much. Friendly staff, good service. Will come back for sure.
Good place to buy guitars pianos drums microphones bass guitars amps the cashier is nice
Great Instuments and friendly staff!
Was knowledgeable and seemed willing to help like that person lobed music and what he did as opposed to making money. Sure money is the name of the game. They at least seemed accommodating and attentive
Great customer service great friendly people and wonderful setup of pianos musicians welcome love this place cheap and dreamy.
Welch Music has messed up the violin contract that I had, charged me twice, tried to charge me after I paid off the violin and messed up the tuning. The only time I will go to Welch is when I need a string and Acadia doesn’t have it. They usually don’t know what they are talking about, though they act like they do, and most of the employees can’t tune correctly to save their life because they depend on an electric tuner and have no experience of their own tuning string instruments. My 2 children play a string instrument, violin and cello, but when I bought a brand new violin and had the store tune it, the music teacher said that it was WAY out of tune and not to have the store tune it. The kids music teacher will only go to Acadia Music in Rupert or Dunkley Music in Twin Falls. I have had a PHENOMENALLY POSITIVE experience at Dunkley Music and will always take my business to them. At Acadia Music, the owner is the employee and she tuned my son’s cello with no problems.
16. Make It Now! Productions
Address: 54 E Main St, Rexburg, ID 83440 , Clark County , Idaho , United States
I enjoyed working with Keith and the team of Make it NoW Productions. all of them are very professional, and highly skilled on what they do, while also being friendly and human to attend to their clients needs. And their products is amazing as well. I definitely recommend it to give it a chance. 🙂
Love this place. Keith is an amazing guy who listens to you and helps your songs sound as good as possible. Will definitely be going back.
Seriously the best! Great atmosphere, professional work, and a total blast! Can’t recommend this place enough if you need recording done.
As a newcomer to my industry, I was thankful for Keith’s willingness to help me understand what my production would entail & need.
Rates are very affordable.
I would recommend M.I.N! if you are looking for good quality & value.
17. Studio Prime
Address: 104 N Teton Ave, Sugar City, ID 83448 , Clark County , Idaho , United States
Eric just installed some new pickups on an American Standard Stratocaster of mine and setup a neck I’d previously had installed. His work is exemplary. The strat feels like a whole new guitar and plays better than it ever has. I will definitely be taking more of my guitars to him.
After many repairs and custom wound pickups over the years, I can sum it all up by saying, Eric Daw does amazing work!
Eric did a full rewire on my vintage Les Paul Custom and did a fantastic job. I highly recommend him for any guitar work you need done.
19. Monkeyman Music
Address: 135 N 3rd E St, Mountain Home, ID 83647 , Clark County , Idaho , United States
Dropped two guitars off to get some maintenance taken care of. Can’t be happier with the service! Both guitars play like new, the turn around was great, and the price was even better. I also love the fact they are open to 8pm!!!
Calling this establishment “mediocre” would be too much of a compliment. My brother went in to ask if the man had any guitar parts and was treated like an inconvenience. The man had his back to him the whole time, was very dry and rude and had awful customer service overall, once my brother asked about guitar lessons though is when the man perked up and became chatty. Only when money was in the conversation was he interested. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
20. Dunkley Music
Address: 1160 Blue Lakes Blvd N, Twin Falls, ID 83301 , Clark County , Idaho , United States
The staff is very helpful, and in fact… the are very keen to see that all your questions are answered, and done so with enthusiasm!
I’ve made several purchases from these fine folks!
I have been into Dunkley Music several times. Each time I have been greeted by friendly, knowledgeable staff who are ready to help.
