Friendly family-owned music store. The young lady restrung my guitar while I waited because I told her I was heading back to Denver the next morning. Good prices, too.
Lindo lugar , mucha historia musical! Me encantó.
Great friendly people, good selection and guidance.
I didn’t go here for the selection of musical instruments, but they do have quite a bit. I went here to dive into their record bins. They have a pretty good selection at reasonable prices. Check it out if you are in town!
Tons of awesome used CDs and vinyl.
I have purchased a few guitars from here.I love thats it is community owned, the owner works the counter most days, he is a good guy who lives to share his passion of music
Also has a great record selection for sale!
Haven’t been in a while because I live so far away, but I have never found another music store on par with this one. Hopefully once I graduate and start making that career moneh I can come back and visit and maybe get another awesome acoustic guitar.

Gary is helpful and knowledgeable. The selection was excellent and I enjoyed my guitar-buying experience. Well-worth our 40 mike drive,
Small store. Big selection.
Gary is great. Always helping out the local musicians . Thanks Gary
Limited selection, average prices
Surprisingly good 45 selection.
I’ve heard good things about it but I was upstairs at pug Ryan’s bar
Terrible customer service. Was out of town for a wedding – asked about return policy and he went on a rant about him being a small business and how he would only give store credit. He was very condescending and unprofessional
Owner is a racist. He harassed my friend for shopping while black , four times AFTER he bought a CD. We went outside and had to show the police his recite.
Great place to shop if you are worried someone is impersonating you. Don’t shop there if you are black, he might call the cops.
Sells broken products. Very expensive.

Doug is so kind and knowledgeable. Fixed my ukele right up at a decent price. Always helps my sister with her instruments too. He and the other staff are so friendly with my kids too!
I was not necessarily planning on buying an instrument while on a roadtrip with an already packed car. But the owner is a great guy and the shop has a great collection of instruments so I couldn’t resist packing the car up just a little more!
I came in on 12/18/2022 on a trip from Iowa. My J-Bass was having some buzzing and bow on the neck and I couldn’t quite fix it. I asked Doug if I could bring it in and he had it done in about ten minutes, cleanest the bass had played in a good while. Amazing service, amazing quality instruments in stock, and a very knowledgeable person behind that counter with a friendly face to top it off.
Thanks Doug,
– Paul
Drove 600 miles to buy a uke from this guy. He was in the middle of a lesson when we walked in and was immediately peeved. I picked up the uke from the bottom shelf and it slid out of my fingers 4″ to the floor. He barked, “Be careful!”. We walked out.
Absolutely rude and awful shop keep. “Just leave me alone ” is not what one expects when inquiring about a guitar. Came in looking for a mandolin and had to leave right away. Very upsetting. Never visiting again.
10. Big Hollow Guitars
Address: 152 Meridian Loop, Frisco, CO 80443 , Clear Creek County , Colorado , United States
I needed my Martin D-28 Standard setup and a strap button put on the neck. I contacted Bevan at Big Hollow Guitars with the issue. He had me in right away and did the work in front of me in 15 minutes. He also made sure I knew the dos and don’ts of owning a high end guitar in a high altitude extremely dry environment. On top of that, he gave me a look at his current projects. I had a great experience and will most definitely send my instruments to him in the future.
Knowledgeable and friendly independent luthier helped us with a last-minute rental on the night of a gig.
Amazing customer service!
This is someone’s house in a neighborhood and not a music or guitar store. Many home (music) businesses sneak their way onto Google maps and it wastes the time and money of people who need to purchase something quickly in a store.
If it is not a storefront, it should not be on Google maps because people waste their time navigating to places which they cannot enter, despite the location being advertised as a location you can drive to, and “open.” I needed picks and strings.
To the owner:
You should advertise this business on appropriate channels like social media and Google Search. Not Google Maps because you are not a storefront. Is your home zoned as a business location? That is what you are communicating with this time wasting listing. Good luck.

Address: 1538, 1546 Miner St, Idaho Springs, CO 80452 , Clear Creek County , Colorado , United States
This place was such a good find. Not many stores were open and this one had original artwork available. The person working the store was very knowledgable about all of the products and the artists.
This place is awesome They have a really great variety of stuff
Very art and musical forward. If you enjoy supporting local artists — this is your place.
What a cool place to see all sorts of musical instruments and music not to mention the great local artisans. You gotta come check it out.
My husband and I stopped in here on Sunday afternoon while shopping in Idaho Springs. Hubby saw a guitar that he’s been looking for to add to his collection. He asked the guy at the counter if he could play it and if by chance he had a slide he could borrow to see if he liked the guitar. The guy responded that he didn’t have time to get it down for someone to “jam”. We were the only people in the store at that time. We’ve never been treated so rudely at a music store. Why would someone buy a guitar without trying it first? Lost sale for them. We just walked out. Totally ridiculous.

I have been a student of James for 7 years, and I couldn’t be happier with what has occurred over the past years. I have learned how to play piano, guitar, ukulele, and many more and it has been a large part of my life.
14. Rockley Music Center

Love my new piano from Rockley Music Center! Thanks for helping me find my match.
Thank you so much for the immediate response to my problem. Rockleys more than met my needs with no delay. I will always recommend Rockleys to everyone.
Thank you Chris at Rockley for the great communication and responsiveness, and also Michael Mino for his stellar workmanship and professionalism. Michael was a pleasure to work with, and he was able to fix several spots on my piano at home. Now my secondhand grand piano looks almost new!
Appreciate the numerous ideas
They were closed with no warning. One should always call, I suppose.
this is the closest music store to my house. What a shame, because I wont go there ever again. I wasn’t greeted when I walked through the door. I got a snobby attitude from pretty much everybody, and I had to greet the guy behind the counter because he was too busy playing his guitar. Anyway I went there for some finger tape and some guitar picks. What ever happened to 5 picks for a dollar? Here they charge $5.65 for 12. anyway they didn’t have the correct size finger tape for my violin.
Don’t think that piano salesmen are any different than car salesman! Some are making an honest living and some are trying to take you for everything you’re worth. Do your research before coming into this store!!
These guys are big time scammers. The pianos they’re selling are marked up nearly double what they’re worth brand new. Some decent grands (also overpriced) but the pearl river pianos are cheap junk that they tune up to sound nice in the store but the material quality is such that the piano turns to mush in 5 years or less. So much for an investment, you’ll be trying to give it away for free in 5 years with no takers.
It was closed when I went there so I really didn’t get a chance to check it out but I will be back there
Typical third generation silver spoon gyp. You walk in the door and every employee looks as though your very presence mortally offends them. I literally had to step in front of this particularly pathetic employee as he attempted to scurry away. Once he every so reluctantly showed me to the location of the manuscript paper I was there for, he rudely hurried us to the cash register without a word nor thanks. Sad really, you know the first generation that founded the organization had a very different attitude in their approach to customers and business in general.
This studio is the real deal! Grammy nominated engineers, and a ski hill to shred right in its backyard. The music that comes out of this studio is phenomenal! Can’t wait until my next session!
Can’t wait to come back to Eagle Wind Sound the vibe of the place alone made it easy to get right to work! The Engineer was extremely professional and was able to cater to my needs quickly. I truly felt like one of the greats in there!
Love this studio! I discovered Eagle Wind Sound during a snowboarding trip with my friends in Winter Park. The locals told me about it after I performed at Hideaway Park Brewery. Since then, I have had the privilege of working with EWS three times in the past year… and I don’t plan on stopping there. P.J. knows what he’s doing in the studio and I’m so happy to have met him. I always dread the drive back home after time spent in beautiful Winter Park. Can’t wait to come back in a few months!
Gorgeous place!

I purchased a brand new Eastman Guitar at Monkton. My shopping experience was delightful. Dave knows his stuff and his inventory. He guided me through a number of options, the play room was perfect and there was no pressure. I will buy more things from Monkton.
David went above and beyond to help me with a UPS damage claim that he pursued (successfully!) for more that 7 months. Monkton Guitars is great to do businesses with. Honesty and Integrity!
Very friendly and informative when I called in to ask about pricing and brands.
great place to try and buy, they know their stuff and are super nice and willing to help you find what you’re looking for. they have great recommendations and will let you play whatever for however long. very cheap for repairs and guitar work, much cheaper than other places. got my frets leveled/crowned and it sounds fantastic, however they did kind of gauge/scratch the neck on several frets. sucks, but not a huge deal as it’s not a high end guitar and the price was right ($60). again, sounds great but i would be weary of bringing a higher end model in as they weren’t very careful about taping off the neck to avoid cosmetic damage.
Best shop around!
do not take your guitars here for repair! simple jobs will end up being 2 hours in labor charges. they will take your working guitar and send you home with a non-working guitar. they will mix up the wiring on the pots. they will give you pots too large so your knobs have a huge gap underneath. unbelievably unprofessional and incapable.
EDIT: The business response is not a fair respresentation. First guitar, volume pots wired backwards. Second guitar, repair only lasted the car ride home. Second fix only lasted the next car ride home. Third fix, incorrect tone mapping and too large of pots. Every single trip a problem. Why would I go back?
20. Spaceman Guitars
Address: 9797 W Colfax Ave Ste 1B, Lakewood, CO 80215 , Clear Creek County , Colorado , United States
I called to find out about restringing my mandolin. The price was very reasonable and it was completed very quickly and very well. Very friendly and informative. Highly recommended.
Super helpful nice little shop with great deals and lots of basics for keeping your guitar in fresh shape.
This store is way too much fun! They have a great selection of guitars, and the used vinyl section always blows me away with what they find for the shelves. Chris is the nicest guy you’ll ever want to meet, and knows guitar adjustments and repair like no one I have met before.
Not the best guitar store ever
Nice place. Had what I needed.
Did a good switch repair for me. Took longer than he said he would minus 1 star. His records are spendy but he does good trades for credit. I will be back for sure.
Chris is a nice enough guy but I don’t feel like I got what I paid for. I had a suspicion my frets weren’t level due to buzzing so I brought it to him and he did a set up on it. Just a basic setup was quite expensive. I brought it home and it still had buzz. When I took it back to him he said it needed new strings. I was amazed he didn’t notice that during the set up. It just seems he didn’t really take his time with me as a customer and so I will not be going back here. I brought my guitar to a different shop and the tech confirmed my suspicions that there were frets that weren’t level and the neck wasn’t completely straight. Just all around disappointed with the work that was done on my guitar especially at the price I paid.
I dropped this off late October to change a nut on my Fender. I included the parts. I’ve been reaching out, over and over; Communications far and few between. Btw, I was told it would be ‘a couple weeks.’ I’ve shared an excerpt do of our texts to illustrate my point.
