This is a wonderful organization with the great mission of helping students obtain access to music instruments. I found them by accident trying to find a place to repair my son’s saxophone in time for his first ever school band concert. Allison, the repairs manager was so kind and helpful. She quickly made a repair to his sax and now he’s ready for his concert! I’m happy to find out about the The Gift and of Music Foundation and happier still to make a donation to contribute to their mission.
An invaluable member of the Marietta Music community.
I am absolutely in love with this place! Firstly, as I walk in, Jen, who I spoke with on the phone, greeted me and was even more warm and hospitable than she was when we spoke earlier. We connected immediately as she recorded information about my saxophone for a repair. The woman that repaired my saxophone is named Allison and she is a masterful repair technician! She got my saxophone in excellent condition quickly and with a reasonable price and was able to explain everything to me in a way that I could understand. Just brilliant at what she does! This is also a special place to acquire instruments as their mission is to get an instrument in the hands of anyone that wants one regardless of their financial situation. Scott was so passionate and genuine in his explanation of their mission that I had to get an instrument myself! I left the place feeling extremely blessed to have met everyone there but I kind of expected great service from the way I was received. I did not expect to leave slightly less hungry, but Paul saw to it that I received a warm, delectable, brown sugar and cinnamon pop tart! I mean, it’s just too good to be true! They’ve got a customer for life!!
4. Music & Arts
Address: 119 Cobb Pkwy N, Marietta, GA 30062 , Cobb County , Georgia , United States
Ken Stanton Music contacted me on a question i had on a particular guitar i saw on their sight and answered everything i needed, really helpful, i will be ordering from them again as i did today.
Great store. All of the employees have a passion for music. Been saving up for a guitar for a long time. The staff was patient with me while I narrowed down my choice over multiple trips. When I finally made my decision, the guitar tech told me to wait a couple of days for the next sale. I saved enough to buy a sweet case. Ken Stanton has another lifetime customer.
5 stars ordering online. Only downside is they shipped my new strat without the tremelo arm spring
Much bigger than it’s cousin on Dallas Hwy. Has okay prices. The staff are fairly helpful. Nothing spectacular.
Nice place, nice workers, but, sometimes, the prices are higher than Guitar Center on the same products.
They always have the right drumsticks and reeds.
I went with the intention of buying a guitar for my husband to give away for Father’s Day, all the staff in the box, none in the departments. He took a Taylor guitar, a man with long red hair came out, wearing glasses, and very rudely took his hands guitar, very rude, not friendly at all. We left the place is not worth visiting.
Good prices….. but no experts:/
The staff just tries to make a quick sale!
Bought from them before. Went in with my daughter and God forbid a fledgling musician touch something. It’s not like she was beating on instruments. She was hardly touching them. If I can’t have polite customer service I might as well shop online.

Great! Everytime I leave I end up thinking…
What a well run businesss.
What a polite and professional crew.
I look forward to going again.
Great staff; very helpful and knowledgeable.
Jimmy was phenomenal. I walked in, told
The guys “hey I’d like to buy an electric guitar” and mr jimmy helped me pick out a guitar within my budget and to my liking and let me use a sound proof room to try out the guitar we picked out! Loved the guitar so much I bought the first one I picked out. Thanks Jimbo hope you get a raise.
Smaller than the one on Cobb parkway. Friendly staff. No complaints. Just a pretty limited selection.
Wasn’t able to be in this store for 5 minutes trying to find my 4 year old an instrument to learn without two of the employees hounding him to not touch anything. As a professional musician trust me I have my son trained to be careful around expensive instruments. I also picked up a guitar to play and think about purchasing it but the guy told me they are supposed to bring it down and hand it to me, I said I know how to handle a guitar and he says “not a $1,300 guitar” I’ll take my business elsewhere.
I find it hard to believe a store would go out of their way to lose a potential sale. I live in Carrollton Georgia so I don’t get out there much and I asked to exchange an un-used microphone I purchased from them (over 90 days ago) for another item. They told me no. That’s basically it. Who says that to a potential customer? I know your starving for business but ok I’ll purchase elsewhere from now on. I like companies that are interested in my business. I recommend Willcutt guitars
Staff is helpful to get the sale but be careful… Merchandise is expensive and there’s no returns because of Covid. They don’t tell you about that detail before you spend your money!
6. Dirt Cheep Pro Audio & Musical Instruments
Address: 2415 S Cobb Dr SE, Smyrna, GA 30080 , Cobb County , Georgia , United States
Pretty cool store. Not a huge selection, but customer service and the willingness to help you find what you need makes up for it.
I called the day before my visit and Mark was very helpful. He took great care of me once I was in the store. He stood by all his recommendations and gave demonstrations of the quality. I can’t wait to put everything to use but the customer service was great
Slow service
Nice but expensive
My honest opinion was that I saw the store while driving by. A few months later I decided to go in and look at guitars and see if I could afford to buy. Staff was friendly and helpful. I did end up walking out of the store with an acoustic guitar and case.
Customer Service: my experience with them was ok because I had to bring guitar back for adjustments. When they took guitar out of the case the headstock fell off. I couldn’t belief it and the employee couldn’t believe it either.
Long story short. I gave them receipt they spoke with manufacturer and replaced guitar within a few weeks. Staff did a perfect job in handling my issue because it could have gone south and I would be writing a purely negative comment about them. In ending, excellent store with professional helpful staff.
It is NOT dirt cheep!
They charged me a 10% restocking fee for an M-Audio USB interface that had flaky drivers for Windows 7 64-bit. When I told them about this problem one of the guys asked if I was running SP1 or SP2 for Windows 7. When I told him no service packs are out for Windows 7 he looked it up right in front of me and had the audacity to say that M-Audio had drivers for Win 7 SP2. This guy was totally clueless. So I got charged $36 because M-Audio had bad drivers. I won’t be going back.
I was not pleased with their return policy. Just make sure that whatever you get there, you never plan to return it. They left a very bad feeling.
7. Wendell’s Music
Address: 1869 Cobb Pkwy SE #500, Marietta, GA 30060 , Cobb County , Georgia , United States
I’ve been to quite a few different places to set up my guitars and this place is simply the best. They so much faster and do a better job than anyone else. Wendell’s knows what he’s doing and can answer any question you may have. Definitely recommend these guys.
Wendell has always done a timely and excellent job for me for years. I highly recommend to all. When you’re in a guitar bind, trust in Wendell!
Wendell is very knowledgeable, communicative, and timely in his repairs. He also gives a great price. I always leave with my guitar and pedals sounding good as new!
8. HandPan Jess

Hunter customer service skills are amazing! I’m huge on that and he provided. It’s so rare these days
Daughter got mouth piece stuck in trumphet. After going to the chain store I purchased the trumphet from, we were told they could not help us, but recommended this store. After arriving, with trumphet hanging out of the case in hand, we meet Doug in the parking lot. He stated, “let me guess, your mouth piece is stuck”. We went in and he removed it in less than a minute . Thank you for your help!!!
One of my favorite music stores! I go there almost everyday
Helpful, friendly employees. I wish the store was a little larger to have more inventory, but I’m sure they’ll stock up when back-to- school season comes around.
Been renting my daughter flute from here and had to get it service. Received excellent service from Cailey from beginning to end. We were able to leave with a loaner and return with a week for our instrument. Very pleased with service, knowledgeable staff, and cost.
Music & Arts’ customer service is non-existent, I am not sure why they deserve a one star, but that’s as low as one can go. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY WHERE YOU HAVE TO DEAL WITH ITS CUSTOMER SERVICE … that’s my advice to everyone.
In short, I placed an order on the 19th, everything showed available for 4 items, placed it as ship to store, conf. order email said someone from the store will call me when my items arrived. The 31st rolled around, no call yet so I called customer support at the 888 #. Apparently, my flute and kit (2 items) were delivered on the 24th but NO ONE from the store called me. The guy I spoke to pretty much didn’t find my flute so they lost my flute. He didn’t even offer anything that they had on hand or to call another store TO GET ME A FLUTE. Said he’ll call back and here I am, 2 days later no call from the store and no flute. My kid is now the ONLY kid in band class with no instrument. I will submit a complaint to BBB. The lack of consideration or attempting to either refund my $ or to get me another flute asap from another M&A store is why I’m submitting a complaint.
This rating is in no way regarding the store itself, but pertains more to the on-line side of the business overall. I placed an order for a cleaning kit through Music and Arts on-line store for my son days ago and have yet to receive the product. When I called customer service for an update this week I was told the kit was on back order and no update was available as to when it would be completed. I called again the next day for an update and again. I was told they didn’t know when the order would be completed and that they sent an email to the Associate handling the issue which should take a day or two for a response. It’s now day 3 and I have yet to hear from anyone. What concerns me the most is that I never received communication the order was on back order day one and that it’s now day 3 and I have yet to receive a call from a Supervisor or the business with an update. I placed the order online initially thinking it would arrive to my son whose away in college sooner than it would take me to purchase it in store and pay for shipping. Now, I’m having to drive to their store which is more than an hour away, purchase the kit and pay for shipping. It’s going to cost me more in gas, time, purchasing the product and pay to ship it myself. I would advise ANYONE to buy from this business online. The customer service is very poor!
12. Guitar Center
Address: 1901 Terrell Mill Rd Suite 600, Marietta, GA 30067 , Cobb County , Georgia , United States
Great selection of guitars, but most importantly, I have received really impressive customer service.
Found my John Taylor and my pack guitar here. Awesome employees who are personally vested into music.
Very Nice employees. Helped me with what I needed.
A music lover’s dream. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
Love the place.
I guess to be fair their inventory is low just like most retail businesses in the country right now so I’m going to give him a break and hopefully they get back on their feet
Every time I come here there’s nobody to help me buy what I’m looking for. I get it. A lot of local musicians don’t have a lot of money or end up trying to sell what they have when rent is due. However if you see somebody literally waiting next to an item and you’re going to ignore them just to record your friend playing an electric kit for his YouTube channel then maybe you shouldn’t be working in retail sales. Just saying.
Such a fun place. Great vibes, great music, amazing tube power amps!
Excellent shop to find some amazing and unique antiques. Looks small on the outside however quite larger on the inside.
I love the variety of items and especially like to record section where they have an amazing collection of new and old.
Great selection of music and antiques. Records, books, cameras, toys and much more. Fun place to spend an hour or two.
A great selection, but the prices are very high, especially when compared with other shops in the Atlanta area.
Records are a bit high priced and their selection is somewhat small.
Woman who owns this place was very rude and I really loved buying from here but once I returned a vinyl that I didn’t need with the plastic still on and with my receipt she assumed that I was returning the vinyl because it was bootleg, I had no clue that these vinyls they sold were bootleg. Why sell Bootleg items at such high prices but I appreciate her telling me the truth because I thought I was paying for the real thing.
If you like overpriced records this the place for you!
RUDE. i will not be shopping here again. i decided to text their instagram today and asked if they had a vinyl by taylor swift in stock and they responded with “Are kidding? People camped out all night for this record and you couldn’t get into my shop until after 3 on Saturday
Try eBay
Good Luck” i NEVER write reviews but this was so rude and inconsiderate. it was just a simple question?? like?? if you had a bad day don’t take it out on your customers.
15. Bill Smith Music
Address: 2010 Debra Ln, Marietta, GA 30066 , Cobb County , Georgia , United States
I’ve had multiple horns worked on and they’ve all come out great! His speciality is everything, it seems! Dirty, dented, or damaged horns come out looking and playing like new and it’s so great to have someone who’s 20 minutes from where I live provide such quality work!
Had to have emergency work done to my Edwards dual bore trombone slide. Shout out to Brandon – this young, bearded man dropped what he was doing to not only inspect, but repair the issue with my slide. Trombonists know that you can’t take your slide to just anyone but I will tell you that you can take it to this young man. Very knowledgable and professional.
I had such a great experience. Professional, quick turnaround, and excellent work! I highly recommend!
Owner is rude, arrogant and aggressive if you question his work or practices. There are many better repair shops out there that treat you instrument and the customer better than this guy. It is highly disappointing that directors in some districts are forced to do business with this person due to contracts. I would avoid his business unless you like to treated poorly or have your instrument improperly handled or repaired.
Disrespectful, immature, non professional, shouldn’t be allowed around kids
Rude and unprofessional towards me
16. Guitar Center
Address: 1570 Crater Lake Dr Bldg. 200, Kennesaw, GA 30152 , Cobb County , Georgia , United States
Wonderful staff everyone was helpful if you asked but would let you just browse at you own pase other wise. Great experiance
Love this place. It’s candyland for grown folk. Great staff, great selection. Everything musical.
Excellent service!
Very helpful staff the only reason not five stars is the original bass guitar I bought didn’t work properly. But they swapped it out with no drama the same day.
Don’t expect any help
Could use more of a selection of acoustics.
Limited selection, no one offered help upon entering, very messy floor (had to step over multiple cables). I will be looking elsewhere for a guitar.
Won’t go back.
I don’t know how places like this are still open. I try to give them my business to be told “out of stock, we can order and have it shipped in a week”. I guess I’ll throw more cash at Amazon and save time/money/effort
17. Whipkey’s Music Inc
Address: 2949 Canton Rd, Marietta, GA 30066 , Cobb County , Georgia , United States
I bought my first (and only) violin from here a couple years ago and also took lessons for two years after I bought it. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Great experience overall!
I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincerest thanks and gratitude to Mr. Whipkey and Ms. Allison who recently went beyond the call of duty to resolve an issue that we were faced with suddenly.
My daughter who plays flute in her school band had an emergency situation a few days ago when the flute that we had earlier purchased from Mr. Whipkey developed some problem. She was to perform on a Saturday morning but found on Friday night that there was an issue with her flute.
We called Mr. Whipkey and left a message on his voice mail at his shop late night on Friday explaining our situation. To our utmost surprise, Ms. Allison called back the same night and after calming us down, asked us to bring the flute to the store at 7:00 am on Saturday morning despite the fact that the store is not supposed to open till 10:00 am on Saturdays.
Sure enough, Mr. Whipkey was at his store at 7:00 in the morning when we arrived there with the broken flute. Within no time, he replaced it with a brand new flute of the same kind while keeping the mouthpiece from the old flute so my daughter did not have to re-adjust her lips.
Such level of professional service, coupled with personal sentiments shown by Mr. Whipkey and Ms. Allison, is quite rare these days. Not only Mr. Whipkey agreed to fix the problem in a professional manner, he took special care in our case to ensure my daughter was able to perform as scheduled. I am forever indebted to Mr. Whipkey and Ms. Allison for such level of personal care while dealing with their customers.
Also, Ms. Allison, taking time out from her busy schedule, helped us pick the right flute for our daughter and spent quite a bit of time with her giving her very invaluable tips on how to play the flute and how to excel in it. Her guidance proved to be of immense value in improving my daughter’s skill and it continues to help her even now after nearly a month.
I am also thankful to Mr. Kelly who is the flute tutor of my daughter and who recommended Mr. Whipkey when we were considering buying a flute for her.
I recommend them highly for anyone wanting the best in instrument purchase, repair, or lessons. You will be treated fairly and kindly
Raj Joshi
Amazing service from the shop. Go-to place for any instrument. Recommend 10/10
Great customer service!
Went in to have them take a look at a vintage tenor sax. He was nice enough to come in from home to look at it for me. Unfortunately he wasn’t able to tell me anything I didn’t already know and thats why I gave 3 stars. But a big thanks for comming in.
We came in last Sunday to rent a cello for middle school orchestra. We interacted with all 3 of the individuals working and we found them to be helpful and very knowledgeable. I did think it was odd at first to not go into the actual store but I get that they are still adhering to Covid protocols to (I assume) protect the health and safety of their employees and the owners. You do have to wear masks in the space next door they are using for customer service but they had some in case you didn’t and also give you the option to help you outside or curbside while you wait in your car. That didn’t bother me at all because I feel like they were easy to work with and we got a very nice instrument at a competitive rental program and the fact they do things old school doesn’t phase me one bit.
This is a scam, take the time to find honest people to work with. We rented a violin for over 2 years. When we went to upgrade they said we had over $470 to spend and said a violin would cost us $350, which included our $470 credit.. So this violin was supposedly $820. I couldn’t find the brand online so I couldn’t research it. The fact that they were whispering to each other gave me pause. Long story short I found a violin with great reviews with everything I needed for $299. My daughters teacher said it was a good one. So I returned the violin the next week. When they found out that I purchased another violin now all of sudden the violin I was returning was damaged and I needed to pay to have it fixed. There was nothing but normal wear on the violin. We had some words and I ended up having to call the police just to force them to give me a receipt for my return. These are terrible evil people. Do yourself a favor and stay clear of them.
Horrible experience. The people are extremely rude. Insulted our band instructors direction and our child. Returned trumpet and they accused our child of dropping trumpet and said we had to pay $278.00 to return the trumpet. We had bought the insurance but they said it did not cover it. Therefore, do not buy the insurance and just have it under your home insurance. We had a bad experience when we rented it and almost did not get it-should have gone with our gut. We are now out $278, had to have our intelligence insulted by the sales associate and Mr. Whipkey. Will never come back here and please consider elsewhere so you do not have this experience. Always go with your gut!!
Was ridiculous how he asked for all our information and when we wanted to get it back he was extremely rude and was aurguing and he said we can’t get it back. Had a bad feeling from the start don’t go there.
18. Jennings Music & Education Center
Address: 3595 Canton Rd Suite 308, Marietta, GA 30066 , Cobb County , Georgia , United States
Friendly and helpful staff working here. I’m curious if you offer bass guitar lessons? And if so what are the rates/ charges? Thanks so much I look forward to seeing you soon.
I definitely loved these people, I went to this store from North Carolina ( Almost 5 hours of drive ) and I didn’t regret it at all, they had exactly what I was looking for.I loved the good vibe that you get when you enter and how attentive they were to me and my daughter.I would definitely go back if necessary.
Thank you for spreading the love of music!
The people there are very friendly, courteous
Nice store. Very friendly and helpful. If I ever consider leasons for anything, I’d definitely consider them.
Edit: I was called the day of this review and my issues resolved within the week. I have never received such a quick response to a complaint and it counts for a lot in my mind. I can tell that their reputation and customer satisfaction is important. I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt regarding my previous experiences and change my review. I’m not sure why the ball was dropped previously but they made sure to fix the problem and apologize. Everyone makes mistakes but their willingness to take responsibility and handle the situation was refreshing.
BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE!!! I signed up for a lease to own plan for a bass at this store. The plan is supposed to include repairs and a size upgrade because my son is 13 and still growing. About 8 months into the plan the bridge was broken on the bass (a simple fix) and I was told to expect 3 weeks for repairs. 3 weeks turned into several months. I had to start going in person everyday and basically harassing the staff to give him his bass. They never gave him his bass back. They gave him a very beat up bass and told me not to worry about the appearance as he would not keep this bass and would have one in better condition once the contract was up as the size would be upgraded. However, once I took the bass home to my son he informed me that this bass was smaller than the original one he was given and so he couldn’t practice at all. I informed the store of this in August, it is now January. The store is completely unresponsive and unless I start harassing them again, they’ll leave me with a product I can’t use but still charge me monthly for it.
These people were extremely rude and impatient this evening. I was trying to reach a salesman that left another store. I need a cello but I will not buy from these people. Instead of trying to sell me something they simply hung up in my face. I called right back thinking it was a mistake and they were not kind. They lack good communication skills and have no customer service skills at all. I was expecting them to say, “… the person you are looking for does not work here but we would love to assist you with a purchase”.
Way over priced !!!!! My son in high school needed a mouth piece for his instrument. Jennings wanted to charge almost $70. You can get them for $20 in Kennesaw and YES they are acceptable and standard in the class room. Wow! I am so tired of this area trying to over charge.

Address: 1255 Johnson Ferry Rd Suite 9, Marietta, GA 30068 , Cobb County , Georgia , United States
I’m a complete novice, the sales clerk was extremely helpful with all kinds of pointers where to start with every kind of instrument for beginners. Very nice selection of instruments too.
This is by far the best music store ive been to in the 12 years ive been playing my instrument. The store clerks and manager are great musicians from what I can tell. They are very knowledgeable and well versed in various music accessories and instruments. I take music lessons here and I am surprised at the versatility of their instructors. Not just with instrumentation and music but the ability to instruct students at various ages.
Went to get a guitar string put on since I popped it while tuning and I walked in and got immediate service and the people in the store were very friendly! Didn’t take long at all so I will definitely be going back for more musical needs in the future!
Great values on musical instruments and instruction for all levels.
The service here was great. However this is a small store so selection was limited. They offer lessons on site.
This is more a place to rent an instrument or buy a guitar than to get high end audio equipment.
it’s ok but maybe you won’t find the brands that you are looking for.
Like other reviews say, they overcharge if you don’t know what to look for. When I first bought something for my child’s instrument, I just went in and had them recommend something. Later I found out you could get the same thing at another store for about $40 less.
Do your research before you go here or you’ll probably lose money.
Tried to return son’s instrument finally when they opened after Corona shutdown. They still charged me for the extra month rent that we could not return the instrument. Called corporate office absolutely no consideration or understanding. They must have corporate directions to deny returns during this crisis. No understanding or compassion in this corporation. They are basically robots.
Very nice people in the store. However, their customer support….not so much! Contacted customer support today regarding payments I’m making on an instrument for my son. Spoke with Nick who was a JACKA$$. He spoke to me like I was an idiot, like I should have known all the answers to the questions I was asking.

Address: 2999 Cobb Pkwy, Atlanta, GA 30339 , Cobb County , Georgia , United States
Every time I’ve gone into the store I was courteously met, and directed, and helped in finding the item(s) that I sought.
They did a wonderful job helping me with both what I wanted and what I didn’t know. They are a great store And I will be back.
Wow
Nice store, good selection of guitars and amps.
Good service, a little bit more in stock Pro level stuff than the other spot.. GC
Alax was a welth of knowledge and his music experience was a great benefit to my visit thank you
Today I went to this location to search for some PA speakers for an event I am helping out with. After walking around in the live sound area for a while, I set my eyes on what I THOUGHT was going to be a perfect match for my needs and budget. It was a pair of USED Sound Tech dual 15 tops with horns. One was leaning precariously due to having two of the rubber feet missing, and both showed obvious signs of storage (spiderwebs, etc). I found someone to help me, a young lady who was really into the role of “salesperson”. I asked what the price on these were, and was told they were $100 each. I told her I’d like to hear them, and if the sound was righteous, they were sold. She spent several minutes playing with various cables trying to get signal to them before bringing another employee over to help. He got them up and jamming within a couple minutes. This is great, right? There was a dual 18″ sub that was with them when they purchased them, and I asked about pricing on it as well. After another several minutes of searching for a price, ANOTHER person, this time a manager, came over. The sub was $399, which was more than I was willing to throw down, but then it got worse – the $100 speakers I had already agreed to purchase were now $299 each. They ran me around in circles over the reasons they couldn’t honor the price THEIR EMPLOYEE quoted me, eventually working down to $249 each. Another manager played the “mistakes happen” card as well, leaving me with a seriously sour taste in my mouth, and no desire to EVER give them another penny. Buyer Beware – their staff apparently isn’t trained in properly looking up pricing, and their management will not honor prices quoted to customers BY THEIR OWN STAFF!
I went in to have a guitar setup and tuned that I had bought online. I waited almost 15 minutes while the “guitar specialist” was closing on a sale.
By the time he finally got around to me he immediately let me know that it was a “cheapo” guitar and usually they need to have major adjustments just to sound good.
I come back to pick it up a few days later. Contrary to over 50 online reviews by beginners and experts alike, the guy tells me that the guitar is no good and the neck is already bent inwards. I brought it home and IT SOUNDED WORSE THAN IT DID BEFORE THE ADJUSTMENT. He was extremely smug, as if to tell me “you should have spent $500 on a guitar here instead of ordering online”.
Several strings are now unplayable with most chords, producing an off-putting twangy sound. When I was leaving he remarked, “I would send it back if I were you”. Gee, thanks for charging me the $70 for new strings and a tuneup first.
If there is a Guitar Center or closer local shop go before considering Sam Ash.
the store was filthy and they had very little stock on hand. i’ve been in bodegas that were nicer than this.
