Closed when it says 24 hours and store is a mess
2. Mega Music the Musicians Store
Address: 1100 W Main St #2, Sterling, CO 80751, United States , Comalapa , Colorado , United States
Ive got a band room full of Mega Music gear and im totally pleased with Todd, his service and quality gear! Great store keep up the good work!
Todd hit a grand slam for us. We have a young man in grade school who had his heart set on a specific acoustic guitar that was out of stock everywhere, including this store, or so it was suspected for a moment when I called to confirm. But Todd gave it some more thought and realized he happened to have ONE LEFT! It is likely this make/model/color guitar was the last new one available in all of North America until next spring. And MEGA MUSIC HAD IT! They promptly shipped it off well-packed, and it arrived safely with no damage whatsoever. Todd and his staff made two families very happy and a child’s Christmas extra special.
Love this place!! Fantastic store and Todd the owner is crazy freakin cool!! Great price on instruments and lessons too! Daughter loves the lessons! 11/10 phenomenal
Good selection and everything a musician needs. Only store in town that I would trust with my equipment. He’s got it
Awaome people to deal with!!!!
Update: Have been dealing with Todd and his store (Mega Music) for a few years now… This man is my go to guy… PERIOD…. Took my Jackson JS32 to him because it wouldn’t stay in tune.. He did a killer job setting it up… 100% perfect now!!!
Kinda high priced but ok selection and kinda rude most of the time I come in not sure why anywayz
My buddy said never do business here because this guy is rude. I see he responds to all the negative posts saying that never happened. I dont know man why would these people say this stuff if it wasnt true. Lol
I went in to the store today to ask about getting my son’s saxophone fixed or buy a new one I had mentioned it had been taken to another music store in the past and had purchased parts online so he had the full information about the instrument and he started going off on me and being very nasty about my past choices. Made not only me but my son very uncomfortable. Stated that customers are people who spend dollars at his store which I was trying to be one but after the costumer services I recieved I would not recommend
Called today to query as to consignment of some drums & hardware. The owner was rude, crude, combative, and totally unprofessional. His customer service is non-existent, and his know it all attitude extremely unprofessional. Never again, not sure how he’s still in business, must be the only game in town.
3. Music Go Round
Address: 8055 W Bowles Ave #2C, Littleton, CO 80123, United States , Comalapa , Colorado , United States
I’ve ALWAYS had a great experience here. They’re knowledgeable, helpful and friendly! I’ve gotten pretty much all of my musical needs met here or they’ve given me sound advice. So glad there’s second hand shops like this. Less waste in the world is always a great thing!
Cleaning out the house.
Even though I don’t play any instruments I always enjoy coming here hanging out and listen to people play. And once again, my interaction with the people that work here has always been great. AW was the person that I worked with today, he was great.
I have it on many guitars in my life and not learned how to play a single one. But a couple for my daughter but now they just sit there, time to do some housecleaning.
I WOULD recommend any person of any age come and check out what they offer. They have pretty much anything that you need or want from new to use guitars, drums, whatever your heart desire’s.
I have ALWAYS been taken care of here! I just now (as I sit in front of the store) had a used pedal I bought act up on me. Scott repaired it immediately! Well done guys! I love local, and brick and mortar! This is it for that!!!
Musical Go Round is a great place to find certain used gear at a decent price if you know what you are looking for. It is a fun place to look around. I have bought guitars, sound and drum gear over there. I like the fact that they have a variety of instruments / other gear there too. They also do guitar set ups here too. I have to give Doug props for making my old Squire Affinity play nice again.
Love the store !!Been going there for 15 years. New owner seems to be a straight forward Stand-up guy, they said to smash this guitar my guitar tech made it play beautifully
I had high hopes but just wasn’t impressed. Compared to the Aurora location, this store falls short.
The guitar area was decent with everything displayed nicely but the biggest disappointment was the amps. All the amps we’re covered in dust and we’re absolutely filthy compared to any other store I’ve been to. NONE of the amps were plugged into the power strips so you had to ask for all the cords and power cables just to try anything. That made trying to really test the sound of any guitar a nightmare.
The acoustic room was decent but everything good was locked up so one really couldn’t try much without assistance.
The keyboard section was ok but they definitely needed to be cleaned and at least plugged in for one to try.
The glass cases displaying pedals, audio interfaces, microphones and other accessories was good and decently organized.
All in all, it’s an ok store, but some serious attention needs to be paid to the presentation of all items, ESPECIALLY the guitar amps. All items need to be thoroughly cleaned and then put out on the floor with proper presentation with included power cables so every piece can be tested by the customer. No one wants to have to ask for all the missing pieces just to try something out.
Bought a DJ mixer online and paid shipping. Called up after 3 days as I didn’t receive any update about my order. Guy told me that they sold the mixer at the store and will just issue me a refund. What a joke of a store.
I implore all parents who are considering using this business for their child’s band or orchestra needs to re-consider and look at other options-and YES! there are other options! (this place works overtime to make you think otherwise!) This place will rip you off! I went with Kolancy’s for my 2nd child’s needs-they are more reputable and professional by far, and they actually care what condition their instruments are in when they leave the store!
No Scott, I won’t respond to you, I tried to have things rectified while at your store and you and your employees couldn’t have been any more dismissive or rude, but somehow now you care? Oh, I see, others can read this. Also, my bad experience happened at YOUR store Music go Round, not Music and Arts. I hope others read Joshua Fenner’s review as well since it perfectly captures what other parents and friends
have said they also endured as a customers over the years. I might have to drive farther for instrumental needs but it is well worth it!
Just leaving the store now! I was trying to get some more information on a couple different things in the store but despite their not being a lot of people in the store for staff did their best to not make eye contact or help me oh well!
4. Music Go Round Colorado Springs
Address: 410 W Fillmore St, Colorado Springs, CO 80907, United States , Comalapa , Colorado , United States
I always feel like a kid in a candy store here! So many goodies for your music making needs!!
I traded in some gear and checked out some guitars. The staff were very friendly and helpful, they did not try to sell me anything, they were just there to answer questions and be supportive. I will return again when shopping for gear, fair prices and a friendly staff, I felt appreciated as a customer.
Great prices and wonderful selection.
Decent little shop that will generally take care of your basic needs. Don’t expect a giant selection of goods or rarities, but do expect friendly service, and that is worth much more than the value of other similar stores.
It’s fare
Selection is limited, prices are higher than expected, staff is fantastic.
Rude service.
I called the store asked if they were taken in drum sets I load the car take it all the way down there take two pieces in the store and another guy says oh we’re not taking drum sets today how high can the employees be in the store this is wrong to have somebody go down there for no reason so my advice to you if you got something to sell don’t take it to them take it somewhere with employees still have brains in their head
Took advantage of my wife’s lack of knowledge and sold her an over priced lemon of amp.
5. Jimmy’s Music & Supply
Address: 1239 Main Ave Ste 101, Durango, CO 81301, United States , Comalapa , Colorado , United States
Great selection of instruments and supplies with knowledgeable, friendly service and repairs. Also a cool place to find quality used gear on consignment. Every town needs a great music store. Jimmy’s fills that need for Durango and beyond.
The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. It was an enjoyable visit with plenty of personal attention.
I needed a quick VO hardware setup to record same-day. Jim was at the shop and took care of my needs quickly and with a great attitude. He has lots of knowledge of equipment and technique, and he is enjoyable to talk to. I’m glad I found his shop, and I will definitely be returning!
Thanks, Jimmy!!
Cute store pack with tons of things.
Good local music, guitar store
Jimmy’s music was very nice store however seemed understaffed.
Had my mind set on buying a new piano keyboard and supporting this local music store in Durango and to know that the workers (maybe even the owners) don’t know how to treat their customers is very disappointing. When I walked in I wasn’t greeted, even after a few minutes I wasnt asked how I was doing or IF I NEEDED HELP FINDING ANYTHING. I know what you’re thinking “maybe he was busy” nooooo! Because there was another worker there and no one else was in the store. I wasn’t addressed or anything until I was about to leave. I know I’m an adult and maybe I should have just asked him myself but if I’m gonna spend a few hundred dollars at your store then I’d expect to be treated like it let alone be WELCOMED INTO THE STORE! But my question is why? Did I not looked like a serious buyer? Was it cause I was wearing a mask? Or was it cause I was brown? My questions are valid and justified through the actions of the workers. Sad to know that people are treated differently for whatever reason. Such a bad impression on the community and very disappointing experience.
They did not have what we were looking for.
6. Steve’s Guitars
Address: 19 N 4th St, Carbondale, CO 81623, United States , Comalapa , Colorado , United States
Always great music, best little venue. 6 stars really
Steve’s Guitars is a National treasure. Check out all the live streams at grassrootstv.org
Steve is a chill guy. I hang out around his venue.
Intimate, beautiful guitar display. Fun nice place to get to know musicians upclose. Byob.
It’s ok
Intimate venue blanketed in an eclectic collection of guitars. Great for solo or small acts to play in, especially warm acoustics.
This place chronically doesn’t pay their musicians who play there. 50% cut of door sales?? No response when folks try to collect their earnings?? Support local music – not this place.
7. Music & Arts
Address: 7350 W 88th Ave Suite B, Westminster, CO 80021, United States , Comalapa , Colorado , United States
Good people and client services! Recommend highly!
They had this one cool guitar. Nice young man staffed in the afternoon.
Organized and clean nice staff they don’t buy instruments
I am a music teacher. This is my go to for lesson books for my students.
Was able to buy a great violin
This place is a total rip off. When we rented this at my son’s old school, we asked if we could return it and get a different instrument next year if he changes his mind. We were told YES. I’m here now needing to do an even EXCHANGE and because its not an ORCHESTRA instrument that is offered at his new school we can’t exchange it. So we LOST all the money we already put into it.. Nothing but LIARS at this place. Do yourself a favor and DON’T RENT FROM HERE. There are PLENTY of other places that will not lie to you just to get your money..
Well 6 or so years ago my daughter got her violin from here and everything was fine. She stopped after two years. My youngest son has been playing at it for two and a half years, so we needed a larger violin. Now they want to sell him one. I have had that come up in the past but I always said who knows if the will keep going. Well today they bring out this thing of beauty. My son wants it. It’s only for sale. Oh and the one he brought home, he thought it was a viola we had to look it up. Badly out of tune.
Side bar we could buy it, but the kid never practices and isn’t good. My daughter was way better. Not to be a you know what.
Anyway I ask will you buy it back if he decides he wants to stop. They say no. So we keep renting. What the heck am I supposed to do with a violin once’s he is done? Nothing sells like it use to but really of it was that great why not buy it back. So all in all if this kids goes on to be some great violin guy, then I will buy him one. But a kid nope. I guess after six kids you know how way to many things work. So hey store buy them back sell them used.
ABSOLUTELY DO NOT USE RENTAL PROGRAM if you think you’ll end up buying the instrument later. They lie about the details. I was told several times to keep renting in order to accrue funds to purchase a good instrument but found out after 3 years of renting that only 24 months worth of rental money goes towards buying a new instrument. You’re allowed to use more than 24 months worth to buy a used instrument but they jack the price of the used instrument up so you’re actually loosing money overall. They charged me over $900 for a used instrument (that I can buy on Craigslist for $400,) which cost $1100 new! I reached out to them to correct the issue and they didn’t even bother to reply back to me. DO NOT RENT!!!! Buy a used instrument and you can always turn around and sell it again if you/your child change your mind about playing.
UPDATE: about 6 months after I posted this review M&A finally got around to contacting me about the problem. The service rep I spoke with told me the serial number on our instrument indicated that we had purchased a saxophone. Except of course it was NOT a saxophone. But it might explain why they charged me an outrageous price. The rep had me email some information to customer service and she said I’d hear back from them. I did not hear anything from them for months so I finally called back. I was told they had closed the complaint as resolved.
8. Gravity Music Gear
Address: 6487 Federal Blvd, Denver, CO 80221, United States , Comalapa , Colorado , United States
Been going here since 2006. Definitely one of the gems of the are . My band has found some of our favorite gear here over the years. You can find some real treasures here and the staff are awesom . Be sure to check back often!
I wanted to say these guys are awesome and an honest group of people. They have some good guitars and worked with me on one that I really liked. I would definitely come check them out in the future for the next guitar…and the next….
Quality gear at good second hand prices. I’ve been dealing with them for years and plan to for many more.
The staff was helpful and answered all of my questions. Lot of nice instruments and accessories.
Each visit seems like a never ending quest for treasure. Lot’s of spare hardware, effect pedals, guitar’s , Bass, banjo PA gear…one never knows what might have just arrived.
The store clerk seemed to not know much about topics or items they have in the shop.
But the manager know what he’s talking about most of the time. (Opinion).
Main guy was very mean when I asked him for help. Don’t visit has terrible amps and they are not trustworthy and they are broken. Bad Store Low Quality Bad Worker. DO NOT VISIT YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT they used bad words at me when all I asked was do you know how to fix this not I want my money back or return just do you know how later that day we went to a professional electrical engineer who could fix the amp for us I just feel like he tried to make it seem like we were the bad guys, DONT GO HERE.
Owner is a pretentious d bag. They clean all their products with windex and WD-40. It’s literally just a pawn shop. They’re objective is to screw you and get your gear as cheap as possible and sell it for as close to retail as they can. They have 2 good employees that I seriously feel bad for.
Went in to buy a strap and cables. Asked if I could test a wireless mic I had bought. NO.
So my friend and I bought 0.00.
9. GLENWOOD MUSIC
Address: 3102 Blake Ave D, Glenwood Springs, CO 81601, United States , Comalapa , Colorado , United States
This is gem of a local music shop. Whether you’re a touring pro, a local getting their kids into music, or anywhere in between this is the place to go. A trustworthy and reliable shop. They will match prices to online and are one of the only local licensed service centers for Fender amps, several PA speaker brands (QSC, Mackie, etc), Pioneer mixers, and others. They have guided me with honest feedback towards the right gear for a number of major purchases. Amazing community resource, support these guys!
Joe, Kevin and Travis are just the best there is on the western slope. I have done business with them since Joe bought the store when it was on Cooper many years ago. It just keeps getting better!
W H A T ?? I can’t hear you !! Lol. Yeah it sounds good . ha ha .
Hay todo tipo de instrumentos a precios razonables
Took guitar lessons, glade I did..
Not Very NIce or knowledgeable.Been in there several times to pick up strings or picks stuff i needed for that day. and it seemed liked they didn’t have time for me or my questions. Its a bummer because I own a live sound company and it would be nice to pick up all my supplies from a local store.
Customer service is absolutely awful. The rudest staff I have ever had to deal with. They are so pompous and rude I am sad I gave them my money. If you aren’t knowledgeable about music DONT GO HERE, the staff is terrible to customers who don’t know music. I would recommend taking your business elsewhere or just shopping online. Not one member of the staff is nice and helpful, worst musical experience ever!
I took my guitar in to sell on consignment. I was told I would be called when it sold. After 2 weeks I called to see if it sold. I was then told it had sold the week before but I never was called by the owner. When I went in to get my portion of the money, the owner was very standoffish and if he had been a bit more approachable I would have told him how he never called me to tell me it sold. Luckily I won’t have any reason to go back there for any reason!
10. Music Gear M.D., LLC
Address: 6901 W 117th Ave UNIT 12, Broomfield, CO 80020, United States , Comalapa , Colorado , United States
Craig and everyone at Music Gear are top notch. Great communication. Always kept me up to date and totally informed about what the issues were, what my options were, and where in the process they were. I can’t say enough good things about them. Worth every penny.
This place is a gem. I thought my combo was toast or close to it. Came in expecting to buy new drivers at the least on top of whatever it took to address the problems in the amplifier. One proper service later and all my drivers are fine, amp stopped emitting a steady hiss, and all of this for about 1/10 what I was budgeting to replace it.
I highly recommend music gear md!! Super helpful, professional, and affordable.. these guys are pros, I’ll use them forever! Thanks again for the help!
Our company has recently had an absolutely terrible experience with Craig at Music Gear MD.
I would highly recommend against using their company for repairs. They ordered the wrong parts initially, delayed the repair, installed the parts so poorly our client complained, forgot to return the unit’s power supply, and had absolutely no resolve to make things right with us. When when we tried to discuss it with them, they became unprofessionally defensive, abrasive, and unreasonable.
This is all after they had promised to help and not following through—clearly deceptive and misleading business practices and not caring about their clientele or reputation.
If we weren’t burned so badly, and hadn’t been insulted by them and their unprofessionalism, I wouldn’t leave this review. We’re not beyond making amends, but they have not made any effort to do so.
11. Moondog Music Shop
Address: 1716 W Uintah St, Colorado Springs, CO 80904, United States , Comalapa , Colorado , United States
I love Moondog Music. Mike is the best! The only person he treats unfairly is himself. I can’t get him to charge me enough for his service on my guitars and mandolin.
Best place in town to get guitar work done.
Super nice owner 🙂
Everyone says this place is always closed when they say that they will be open. Well unfortunately that is the reality I too have experienced. Multiple times I’ve tried to visit during posted operating hours but I can never seem to catch the store open. I’ll keep trying though maybe they need some extra help like a part time employee. We need local musical instrument stores or all there’s gonna be is guitar center.
Was a pain trying to find parking and got there at 5:25pm on a Friday which means they should have been open till 6pm. me and my buddy just wanted strings guess I’ll skip this place next time I just wanted to help a small business out oh well.
Not that great, I went in there with high expectations and came out disappointed. First, I got blatantly ignored, the person who worked there was talking to another person and didn’t acknowledge my existence, He didn’t say anything like ”I’ll be with you in one moment” NOTHING! I stood there awkwardly for about 10 minutes, finally the guy stopped catching up with the other customer and got to me quite UN- enthusiastically.
Web site is shady can’t seem to catch opend …..
12. Flipside Music
Address: 2231 S Platte River Dr, Denver, CO 80223, United States , Comalapa , Colorado , United States
Always great guitar modding and repair work from the Guitar Gutter.
Ike suggested the best time to visit this shop in order to accomplish fixing our equipment in a short time.
Everyone was helpful, friendly, kind and very professional!
Sam right away recognized the problem with my electric guitar and fixed it while I was waiting. MJ was very knowledgeable reprograming some channels of my amp. Everyone did an awesome job.
I highly recommend this place in the future to everbody!
Brian and Judit
Ike and Dylan know what they’re doing. This is where I take all my guitars now. They have a great selection of pedals. Perhaps most importantly, they don’t make me feel like a pest when I ask to try out a pedal like most other stores. Great place to be
Best service in this category
Very knowledgeable staff and unique instruments
Pretty good store with decent prices
Overly expensive and also lots of homeless people hanging outside on the street near by. It’s a dump.
13. Boomer Music Company
Address: 3761 S Mason St, Fort Collins, CO 80525, United States , Comalapa , Colorado , United States
Consistently great service and usually have exactly what I am looking for with my family of musicians.
Coffee up stairs.
Awesome to work with!
Treated me pretty fair on a trade in
Stopped by here to find a music book for a violin. A big online retailer messed up sending it to us twice. Staff here was able to order it and have it within a week.
Look forward to being back when we need supplies and such for the violin.
Knowledge staff and good school rental program
Products are heavily marked up, sometimes even twice as much as they should be selling for. Several years ago I purchased a Hercules stand for my instrument and it cost $52. I checked online a couple months later for the same product and it was only $30 on Amazon or through Guitar Center. The only thing decently priced is reeds. Shop elsewhere for music, products, and even instrument care.
Repair shop is okay for emergency repairs, but nothing more than that. The pads they use are really cheap and the quality of the repairs is sub par. They put a pad that was too large on my instrument, causing a hum, so I had to bring the instrument back in. Take your instrument to a well-established technician who will do it right and outlast the so-called repairs they perform here, saving you money in the long run.
We made an appointment to get our bari sax looked at and to get it repaired and drove 3.5 hours to the store when we got there we were told oh no we have to put it in a bag and let it set in our store 5 days then we can look at it and decide if we can fix it or not. that was never told to us on the phone before we made the drive. the person was a total jerk and could careless about or sax I would never recomend using boomer music for any work they just dont understand the meaning of customer service
Find an alternative place! Owner is not reasonable businessman. Zero stars if there was one.
14. Music Go Round
Address: 2925 S College Ave, Fort Collins, CO 80525, United States , Comalapa , Colorado , United States
Great place to go for musical instruments and accessories. The staff is really great too!
Best music shop I’ve been to
Awesome used gear for really reasonable prices. Excellent staff and very knowledgeable.
Pretty cool…!!!
I went in tonight around 6pm to pick up some bass strings. When I walked in, I asked for recommendations on bass strings, as I’ve only bought guitar strings before. The man working there didn’t even come fully out from behind the counter to assist me and made a rude comment when I jokingly asked “What strings does Geddy Lee use?” (The bass player from Rush.)
Honestly, it’s not about the bass strings, the inability to walk fully from behind the counter, or the rude comment and attitude. It’s the fact that I’m trying to support local businesses, and EVERY TIME I go to this store, I’m treated as if I’m an inconvenience.
At Guitar Center, I’m always treated with respect and courtesy. It’s making it really hard for me to want to keep supporting this business when I know that I’ll be treated better somewhere else. A small dose of customer service goes a long way.
If they pretended they were happy to see me just once, it would make a difference. I wear the store’s t-shirt, for crying out loud.
Pricey stuff. But good condition. Great service. Would love to go back and see what else I may want to get in the future
Came in with my wife yesterday. Picked your sign off the ground on my way in the store… someone thanked me. that was the only employee interaction I had in 10 minutes of browsing. Not a single person offered me help or asked me if I wanted to play anything. I was here to spend money. you have 500$ shecktor that would have been sold. and the 170 bass would have been also. and a wireless pickup system. but i felt like i wasn’t valued, i grabbed a couple strings and left. oh well i guess?
Mr. Brandon Barrios:
I went to Music Go Around today on purpose to give a local business my money rather than Amazon. I left right away, however, as your shopkeeper responded in an unfriendly manner that I was not wearing a mask. I explained that we are an asthmatic family and his ungenerous response was, “I’m an asthmatic, too, and I’m wearing a mask.” It is your prerogative to wear a mask and force your customers to do so, but it is also my prerogative to take my business where I’m not forced to wear a mask that hinders my breathing and does little to nothing to stop the bad flu called covid-19. You just lost the $500-$1000 I was prepared to spend.
Had good experiences in the past here both buying and selling but chose to offer me $200 for $1500 worth of bass gear. At least guitar center offered me 50% of the total worth. Avoid if you are selling. If you are buying check EVERYTHING over as much of the wind instrument stock has issues.
EDIT: Went back last week to trade another guitar. The salesperson claimed that the neck was twisted (so they of course couldn’t buy it) which was debunked later by a good luthier. I really want to like this store but they don’t employ honest people.
