If you live in the area, this is the best place to go. Joe is knowledgeable, caring, and just a great person. He has helped my three children with instrument rentals, purchases, repairs, and lessons for all my years in Greenwich. His staff is wonderful and are always happy to help. Please don’t overthink this one…just go see Joe at Greenwich Music!
The Music Angel in the Pandemic.
The pandemic just started. We left New York City to find space in Connecticut. Everything was closed and we were in a new town My son’s cello string pops. What to do now when you need a cello string in a pinch. I called a number of places either no answer, we can’t do it or we can do it for a big price. Businesses taking the opportunity to gouge at the onset did not sit right with me. I left a voicemail at one store my last try. Next thing I know I receive a text from Joe at Greenwich Music asking for my address. He will have his distributor drop ship it to me. Done. No questions. Seamless. We can’t wait to give Greenwich Music more business. They deserve it. Thank you Joe. You are a class act.
Great place for personalized service, because their prices are not any higher than big branch music instument stores. Just wish he carried more guitar selections. But has plenty of guitar needs for anybody local to Greenwhich, that otherwise have to travel for an hr or more to get quality strings, picks, accessories, or even in a bind for a part. Save gas and go here. No pressure great staff! Call first if you have a question on a need.
It’s a nice place! It’s a bit small but otherwise it’s nice.
We were kindly helped in the store, but we were buying a guitar for our son and we don’t live in the US. We were having problems with internet so we couldn’t research correctly at the moment, but they assured that the amp could be used in 220 current. We arrived home and we connected the amp and it didn’t work. So the amp was burned. Apart from that the price was a bit higher than the same thing in other stores, it’s not nice to pay 50 dollars more, but that is just business and anyone can charge what they want. It was our fault that we didn’t do a good research before buying. But the very kind person that assured us that it would work because he used to be an electrician, and it only needed a basic adapter, was totally wrong and now we are home and we lost an amp, so we paid extra for the set and it didn’t work. You were very kind indeed, but please if you are not sure about something, don’t sell it. Because we lost money and we can’t go back because we don’t live there.
Their hours aren’t very convenient and I was having a guitar strung and I dropped it off and I didn’t get a call before the store closed and then they were closed the next day Sunday so I didn’t get my guitar until Monday and that was extremely inconvenient. They also have a very small selection of basses.Update, they aren’t even open a couple hours on the 4th of July so I won’t get my guitar till Tuesday I am very upset with this store.
Rudest customer service I have ever encountered. The man I spoke to on the phone yelled and hung up on me. When my daughter went in person to drop off the instrument for repair at the agreed upon time, he remained upset and kicked my daughter out of the store. Strongly encourage anyone looking to have their instruments fixed to look elsewhere. Disappointing experience to say the least.
Terrible customer service. Called and said I would be by in 10 minutes for an emergency repair. Guy was nice on the phone. When I arrived 5 minutes early they had closed up and locked. Super helpful…

Address: 403 E Putnam Ave, Cos Cob, CT 06807 , Cos Cob , Connecticut , United States
Lovely service here, and Constantin and the entire staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. Would recommend for instrumentalists of all levels.
This violin shop carries superior quality stringed instruments. My husband is a musician and we have rented from them for our children. Their instruments are definitely better than what you will find online at amazon or from most other rental shops that are not specialized in Stringed instruments. The staff has done a good job taking care of our instruments when we need things done, and the convenience of being able to rent instruments of this quality locally is very nice. This business is an asset for our community.
Good service. Took daughter to buy a new violin and had a great experience. Kind, experienced people. They spent a lot of time and made sure she was happy with her purchase.
Good cellos, but not a fan of thier violins. It’s mostly just personal preference, still much better instruments than cheaper rental places.
Thier violins made me want to be a violist and that’s not normal.
Very Very unhappy about their charge policy. I had to pay $15.95 for exchange a bigger size violin just around 1 months. When we rent the violin, I already ask isn’t 1/4 too small for my daughter? They insisted on 1/8. Just had twice violin lessons, the teacher already said it’s too small for my daughter! How can my daughter grow so much in an month! Highly doubt they did this on purpose to charge more! If I could give 0 star, I will!
Edited
I wasn’t happy on the phone. I told you I was busy and had no time to deal with you. I had to hung up on you since you wouldn’t stop talking. I don’t even know if you refund the $15 or not.
Overpriced. Found out work done on my instrument would hurt it longterm.
This place is a total SCAM. I should’ve read Yelp reviews before I came here. I have shown the violin to multiple professionals , they said that ‘s not a real piece. Very poor business practices. I think you should read Yelp’s review before you go there.
3. Guitar & Bass Place
Address: 551 E Putnam Ave, Greenwich, CT 06807 , Cos Cob , Connecticut , United States
I have only had positive experiences with Music and Arts of Greenwich at 22 West Putnam Avenue, Greenwich, CT 06830 – specifically with Marc Perler, the manager, and specifically with Charise Turner, the manager at the Wesport CT location, 413 Post Rd E.
Marc Perler and Charise Turner go out of their way to make sure you have all of the components of your rental or purchase and answer all of your questions with a smile. The rest of the staff are very knowledgeable and kind. The music teachers are top notch, too!
Very professional. Very friendly. I would HIGHLY recommend this store to anyone as the first place to purchase or rent string and other Musical instruments and supplies and especially to take music lessons with top notch teachers..
Great service. Got there right before the closing time. The owner was extremely patient.
Great customer service! Went in to have my daughter’s viola string replaced and Lisa was amazing. So much great information about instruments, lessons, repairs, rentals. She really took the time to make sure the instrument was working great before I left. Definitely will be back soon for all of our instrument needs. Thanks again!
5. Rental Instrument, LLC of Greenwich
Address: 299 Greenwich Ave, Greenwich, CT 06830 , Cos Cob , Connecticut , United States
Great knowledge and service. You would think they would be higher priced than buying online, but they are not.
Tony talks straight about what’s available and his guys deliver competently and at a fair price, at least in our getting a replacement Sony CD player for our dead Denon and then promptly getting it reconnected when it wasn’t working after an encounter with other workmen
Great customer care. I could not open Sound Bar remote for battery change. Joe graciously did so. I’ve bought 3 TVs here and will continue to use this store as my exclusive AV supplier. – Jesse M.
Pricing is fair and they do good installation work. They do know their electronics. Unfortunately it stopped there. They did a complex install with Control 4 and never really got it working right, were out of reach, and tough to communicate with when the system kept failing. We ended up having someone else reinstall control 4 and get it working correctly. Would use them for simple install only (Sonos, TV’s etc.) but nothing complex requiring after sale communication.
The real issue however was that he called the gas company AFTER leaving our home for what he thought was an emergency. Gas company then forced my teenagers out of the house until an adult returned. After he reached me I explained there is no leak but he had already called the Gas company which could not be stopped. If it was me, I would never leave a teenager alone if I thought there was an emergency.
8. Cos Cob Wine and Spirits
Address: 130 E Putnam Ave, Cos Cob, CT 06807 , Cos Cob , Connecticut , United States
Great staff. Not a super store yet their pricing is better than the other tiny stores in the area. If you need something specific they are happy to order if available. Great place to go to overall AND parking is easy. Plus, you can grab some chips, dips and aspirin/tylenol across the way and a great acai bowl next door. Better yet, grab a six pack cold right after ordering a pizza nearby. Life doesnt get simpler than that…
This is a very tiny liquor store. But the selection is good for basics. I like that I can get cases of ice cold beer here. The service is fast, parking is convenient. In fact you can even Park indoors in bad weather and take the elevator to the lobby where the store is located. The service is professional and knowledgeable.
I’m not from this area but stopped in cause I was at a local store near by. I wanted to try a boxed wine after hearing about all the pluses especially for a single person who doesn’t drink very often. The boxed white wine I picked up looked and tasted like apple juice. Looked at the expiration date and it expired MONTHS ago. I understand boxed wine doesn’t fly off the shelf and it isn’t very pricey but come on, check your inventory every now and then. Wasn’t worth it for me to go back
Great set of instructors that keep you engaged and excited to continue learning. Learn the songs you love not the songs from some book that nobody really wants to learn. Staff is very nice too. Can’t go wrong
I received a computerized phone message to call this number for a refund because of an awful scamming computer service called ZNS Associates, Ltd. This was probably done to satisfy some regulatory organization rule, and I surmise they have no plans to fulfill any obligations, as I have called them 8 times at prime business hours. The “receptionist” is never in, no messages are returned, and ZNS Solutions was the most deliberately evil company deserved of “restructuring”, albeit, destroying, that I know.

Sarah V. made the whole process of buying a new grand piano seamless. The level of professionalism and courtesy found at S&S Greenwich cannot be compared to other dealers I visited in the area. There was no pressure or unscrupulous sales tactics, only confidence in the quality of the product. I highly recommend anyone who is in the market for a piano to talk to Sarah, as she will have something for everyone.
Sarah Venditti found the perfect piano for us! We had been looking for several years so were absolutely thrilled when Sarah called me a few weeks before the annual historic Steinway factory event in May to say there’d be a beautiful instrument that fit our size, budget, and aesthetic requirements. The icing on the cake was getting to be inside the factory that housed so many incredible instruments and master craftspeople. We highly recommend Sarah!!
This was one of the best purchasing experiences I’ve ever had. Sarah was knowledgeable and professional, and answered my questions honestly. She truly believes in the product and brand, and the pianos speak for themselves. There was no pressure, just respect for me as a potential client. If you’re considering buying a Steinway or a Steinway-designed piano, look no further than Steinway of Greenwich.

I am so glad that I found Natalia Huang’s Piano Studio for my girls to start their music journey here. My older daughter has been taken piano lessons at Natalia Studio for 5 years and my younger one just started last year They have Ms Allison as their teacher, she is very patient, professional and caring for her students. My girls enjoyed each lesson and learned so much!!! The first time I talked to Natalia, I was very impressed by her passion and vision to educate young students. So over the years, we’ve seen that she works very hard in coming up with great ideas and programs, organizing workshops and recitals and providing many opportunities for students to perform on the stage to build their confidence.
I highly recommend this studio to anyone who wants to take piano lessons.
My son Hunter really enjoys taking piano lesson at Natalia Huang Studio in Greenwich .All his teachers are great pianists , very patient and understanding . Hunter has made lots of progress in the last couple of years . Hunter also likes their workshops and annual gala performance in the city . We are very grateful to Natalia Huang Piano Studio and highly recommend it to kids of all ages who want to learn piano and play well through the years .
This is a wonderful piano studio with dedicated teachers. Really stands out in the area for the quality of its instruction and how organized it is in terms of recitals and workshops. They even made the emergency transitions during Covid remarkably well.
