Purchased a new guitar today super happy with my shopping experience. Great store, excellent customer service!
very friendly staff – a nice sortiment of instruments – go there if you are in town!
Came up to Flag from Sedona to get a Viola string! Affordable, quality equipment, accessories, strings of all sorts.
Friendly staff, and there is instrument repair service available if needed. They didn’t mind that i changed out the string in store.
Ready to rock!
Thanks gang,

Brought a PRS in to have the intonation adjusted. Quoted me one price, and upon picking it up, they charged an additional $15, and nobody could answer why. They said the “luthier” (and I use that term lightly) would call me and tell me why the price was more. That never happened. Upon getting the guitar home, the strings were set so low they were absolutely unplayable. Fret buzz on every note. The intonation was off on all six strings. And the worst part is one of my bridge screws was lost and replaced with a screw that doesn’t match. Complete waste of money. First and last time they get my business. Sub standard work, and poor customer service.
To follow up… Neil called me several times to follow up and make things right. I missed the call each time but he left messages stating he would correct the problems. Unfortunately I’ve moved away from the area so unable to take him up on his offer, but it is much appreciated. He was willing to go out of his way to make it right for me.
I’ve been in this store many times. Sometimes I found what I was looking for and some not. But I have never been treated with anything but concern for what I needed. “Just a suggestion to all folks that don’t like the way people look at them. Take a look in the mirror at what they see.”
なかなかの品揃えだがわざわざここで買い物することもない。
I am a female bassist, and yes this is an important detail. I came in here awhile ago before a gig in a hurry to buy a case for my bass and accidentally grabbed a guitar case instead (it was in the bass section for some reason and I was in too much of a hurry to double check). So I come back the next day to exchange it for a bass case and the cashier said to me “how did you not know your boyfriend plays bass?” I’ve literally never been so shocked by the audacity of a comment before and I think about it almost daily. So yeah, I haven’t been back since and will never go back.
went into the store, and the guy working there was really watching me. didn’t like it at all, he kept asking me if i sanitized myself, asking if i read the sign which which i did. to top it off, i was looking at a guitar and the same guy watching me was telling me not to touch it or anything. how can i not hold the guitar and play it for just a minute without him breathing down my neck. you have all those guitars and employees standing around, i’m sure you all can find time to wipe every instrument down after someone has played it. instead of telling me not to touch it. i just left the store upset. also there was a lady there playing the keyboard. she was touching everything. as a native american male, i felt like i wasn’t welcome there.
Awful customer service. Since they’re the only gig in town they must think it doesn’t matter if they’re rude and condescending–especially the grey haired guy at the counter. They ran the price of the service I was seeking all over the board very arbitrarily, like they were testing what I was willing to cough up for a simple
maintenance service. I’d rather take my business down the hill than to this shop again.

I love this store, and the owner is such a peaceful wonderful man. Definitely stop here and check it out 🙂
This is my favorite shop in Flaggstaff!!! I make a pilgrimage there once a year to find it and love the tons of great finds. The owner chanting away on a headsite mic only to stop to answer questions whole heartedly! This is a true gem!!!
Phenomenal store! Attentive service! Great products!
Unusual instruments
3. Thomas Byers Guitar Studio
Address: 120 S Beaver St, Flagstaff, AZ 86001 , Flagstaff , Arizona , United States
Thomas is an excellent teacher and I learned so much about the guitar.
All of the instructors at the guitar studio are amazing! whatever you want to learn they have a specialized instructor for you. They also have online lessons. So cool. Great parking and easy pay options!
A great used bookstore! I always find hidden treasures when browsing. The coffeeshop inside is also excellent!
This place is amazing! Great place to trade-in or buy quality used items
Had everything we needed.
Smaller location than I’m used to, but I’m sure that’s just because I just moved in from a bigger city.
SUPER fun place to walk into. They’ve got a little cafe but the rest of the store (which is LARGE) was dedicated to all sorts of entertainment. Books for all ages, mostly older books bought from the community though. CDs, DVDs both regular and blu ray, some classic and lesser known board games along with a few staples like rocket to ride or catan. I adored looking at the old DS and gameboy games. Also games for Xbox, PlayStation, switch, etc. but the nostalgia was strong with the oldies. Also pet friendly as I ran into some students with a kitten on a leash. Priceless.
Good selection of used books and music but the prices are getting worse. Inflation shouldn’t be hitting a used book store.
Prices are a little high sometimes, some of the staff are rude, know it alls
Never used to see homeless people at this strip mall. Now many.
They sold conterfit magic the gathering cards. And mislabeled a video game saying it was 100% complete. But it was missing Maps. And a poster. If you shop at this location, make sure you authenticate your purchase before paying for it.

I would like to take some time to say that Ryan from Custom sound Instrument Is an Excellent Luther. He is very profession and knows exactly what the problem is and how to fix your instrument. He told me that he could lower the action on my new Cordoba guitar and make the fret board easier to play and did an excellent job. It is great to have someone in Flagstaff of this caliber that will take care of our stringed instruments. My name is Omar Mondragon and I have worked with Ryan for many years.
What a delightful experience to happen upon your shop as my friend Kathleen and I explored Flagstaff the day before our Grand Canyon River Rafting trip (4/14). Am still very interested in the oblong stringed instrument with multiple octaves of the same note. Don’t remember what it is called though.
Excellent service. Ryan did a Pro Set-up on my guitar. It came out perfect. His prices were good and he was friendly.
