I bought a Yamaha tenor Sax off of ebay that had problems playing low D to low B flat. I took it to a repair shop in Idaho Falls twice but it didn’t help. My brother is a professional musician in Salt Lake, so I took it to his repair person that is very well known. He got it playing better, but D and B were still not right. Then I took it into Donna Howard and she got it playing near perfect with in a half an hour and for a lot less money than the other guys!
They are very helpful, honest, have good prices, and have some very polite cats on the front porch.
I have been using Howard Instrument Service to do all of our instrument repairs, both for customer-owned instruments as well as for our rental pool for almost 2 years now. I have been very pleased with their service. They stand behind their work, and their prices are very competitive. They have most definitely earned my loyalty as the manager of our Rexburg store!
2. Chesbro Music Company
Address: 257 N 2nd E, Rexburg, ID 83440 , Fremont County , Idaho , United States
Great customer service. If you can’t find what your looking for on the shelves, just ask. They will do their best to meet all your needs.
I was looking for a 3/4 size guitar to learn on. Andrew Pingree was very helpful and knowledgeable as he demonstrated and showed me different brand name guitar choices and gave me time alone to try them out and make my own decision without any high pressure guidance. The Rexburg store had a bigger selection of the 3/4 size than any other store I had been to. Chesbro-Rexburg and Andrew have earned 5 stars in my book!
Very kind people. Transactions are quick and easy.
Chesbro has an awesome selection and always has what I am looking for. Their guitar and bass selection is great and the prices are very reasonable.
However, sometimes the staff is a little overwhelming. One of the dudes, Drew or something, is a know it all and somewhat condescending as if his opinion is the correct one. He also tries to convince you to buy other stuff you don’t want and it makes you want to just not buy anything.
Changed my review since the management change. I am now the guitar tech at Mike’s Music. The new management is really great and have come sent people to us and we like to refer people to them. Each has their strength and we can help each other. Thanks for the new management. They are doing a great job!
I went to find a particular cable, but they didn’t have it. They had cables spread around the store, and seemed to have a lot of brands of the same product, rather than a diverse range of cable types.
I just don’t understand why the employees are in your face ALL the time. I walk in with my kids to look at instruments and the flipping employee (Andrew I think) won’t leave us alone and let us look around. The dude just tries to sell you stuff you don’t need. Like come on man stop being so pushy and leave us alone. Plus I’ve been doing some comparisons with prices online and Chesbros is overcharging so many of their instruments.
Better train your employees, we aren’t ever coming back here. Do yourself a favor and go to Mikes Music for instruments
Horrible experience. I ended up walking out of there without buying what I needed because I was so annoyed by the experience. I was either ignored or treated like I didn’t know anything. Guy wouldn’t let me finish a sentence without cutting me off and treating me like an idiot. I’m a touring musician. Will NEVER go back.
Worst customer service ever
3. Mike’s Music
Address: 54 E Main St, Rexburg, ID 83440 , Fremont County , Idaho , United States
Best deals around for quality instruments and equipment. I’ve been a customer for many many years. Never had any issues.
Made a new Friend today! Nice folk’s working there, good Prices, lot’s to chose from and very helpful…….I tried to get a guitar on-line from another place and the order fell apart so I looked for a Store on line and found Mike’s Music!!!! and I am so glade I Did!!!!!
The best local music store in Rexburg! The owner Brandon is a great guy and knows his stuff. Sometimes the employees can be a hit or miss, like the older lady that works there; seems to always have a negative experience with her. Overall the employees are great people, though.
Although the guitar/bass inventory isn’t the biggest, the focus is to sell brands that give you the best bang for your buck and Mike’s does that phenomenally.
I’ve also had my guitars setup a handful of times and haven’t really had any issues there.
hello, I want to know if u have in stock the audiointerface BEHRINGER U-PHORIA UMC204HD and how much does it cost?
good experience but wish the Mixing didn’t cost a lot
I bought a Behringer UM2 Adio interface here. It was advertised to work on windows computers. I was unable to use the interface due to a driver compatibility issue. When I came to exchange the interface the next day, I was not given a full refund, but $30 in store credit. That means I lost $20 and tax. I was told this was since it was used, but it didn’t work as advertised with my windows pc. I should not be responsible for a manufacturer error.
Two stars since it’s local and somewhat convenient.
Been in here quite a few times and every time the customer service is non-existent. The people who have been working at the various times I’ve come in have been either talking to a friend on the phone instead of helping customers or very stony and clearly didn’t want to talk to anyone. Their manner was almost rude when asked how their day was going.
The store is local and has some good items and a nice music clearance bin up front, but the lack of customer service and overall feeling in the store (it feels like they don’t want you there when you’re inside looking at stuff) will keep me going to the other music stores in the area.
My daughter had Keith as a teacher for a couple months. He really got into the theory of music, and taught a lot of stuff. There was a lot of information in each lesson, but it just didn’t suit my daughter. He goes more into writing your own songs, whereas my daughter just wanted to learn a couple songs, rather than write them. So if you want to be writing music, than Keith might be for you, but if not, I would not advise.

5. Sites Violin Shop
Address: 212 N 4th W, Rigby, ID 83442 , Fremont County , Idaho , United States
I have an antique violin that belonged to my great grandfather that Joe Sites cleaned & restored. He was passionate about the project and added lots of extras that are priceless! A nice & talented man.
I bought my violin from Joe 16 years ago and it’s because of that violin that I fell in love. Life has hit us hard over the last several years and my violin ended up in my closet for a very long time and it needed repairs. I knew I wanted to take it to Joe since he repaired it before I bought it. I will never take my violin anywhere else! Not only does Joe stick to his quote, he understands the sentimental value of an instrument. In addition to that, his craftsmanship is excellent! Take your string instrument to Sites!
Highly recommend Joe & Jacie Sites, both as teachers and for any violin or instrument repairs. Best deals in town and you won’t find more accomplished, conscientious teachers.
Overpriced for violin bridge that was dipped in varnish. Prices are cheaper online for an actual Aubert bridge. Not very open to bringing your own violin parts to have installed.
Update:
I installed a self adjusting Aubert Mirecourt Violin Bridge myself for the price of $21.99 online from Fiddlershop.com. The cut was exactly as the one you showed me on your bridge. I removed your sound post and will be installing a new one myself. The process is not difficult, but requires some skills that can be learned. I don’t profess to be a luthier, but the quality I get out of doing my own repairs are better than what you have shown me or what I can get here in the local shops. The next best would be to go to Utah for a decent violin repair store.
6. Ferguson Violins
Address: 351 E 2nd N, Rexburg, ID 83440 , Fremont County , Idaho , United States
An amazing shop! I just traded in my old violin and bought a new one. It was an easy process and there were so many discounts! This place combines quality with affordable. Great for College kids looking for something new.
My son needed new strings, and a bow rehair, and the lady that was working there was a college student and was really nice, and helped him to what he needed.
They repaired an old violin for us and it was top quality work for a very small price. When we had other questions and problems later the staff was always eager to help. Cannot say enough good thing about Fergusons.

Going here for years. Ever since my dad use to play in a band years ago. Always great service. *Manny*
Mikes music has the best deals in town and great customer service.
Great place! Recommended. They helped me in making my guitar sound better!
Sí hay una variedad de instrumentos musicales
Great service, very knowledgeable staff
Great customer service
They do have great deals but only work with a few individuals that they approve.
I been going here for the years. I’m done. Instruments are old and well used. We’re have had issues with everything: from picking up an instrument that stays out of tune to, picking up an instrument that the string breaks when tuning it prior to playing, getting a cello bow for a viola, handle falling off a case, and Most recent, trying to put a violin g string on as the viola a string. I’m going elsewhere. Encourage others to do the same.
I was given 2 piano books for my birthday and I need the easy print books…so I asked my friend where he bought them..Mike’s music….so I went in and tried to exchange….said not unless I had e a receipt… its NOT like anyone gives the receipt with a birthday gift!!! What a jerk….I wont go back EVER
8. Chesbro Music Company
Address: 327 W Broadway St, Idaho Falls, ID 83402 , Fremont County , Idaho , United States
Great guitars and other instruments, as well as good customer service
Always fun, a good selection for most things and the staff is always friendly.
They had amazing set up, music stock, instrument stock, and friendly people. Great place to go for most music needs. Repair for instruments is around the corner, though.
Friendly service had what I was looking for
I would never shop at this store, I made the mistake of signing my son up for their rental program which is nothing more than a high interest, high harassment loan scam. These guys are a complete joke. The complete lack of customer service, along with the harassing phone calls, and creepy home visits are enough for me to contact law enforcement. DO NOT give this company your business!
I went there, asked to borrow a guitar cable, and the old guy there said “what for?” After explaining the obvious, he said he didn’t want me playing anything unless I was going to buy something. He then tried to force me to use an amp that I didn’t want to use. After he walked away, I plugged into the tube amp that I wanted to use. He then came back and told me that I wasn’t allowed to play any of the tube amps that were out for people to try. My question is this: why have the tube amps out on the showroom floor if people aren’t allowed to try them? I’m never coming back.
Not thrilled at all with the service of piano, lessons 110.00 a month for a child only, once a week totally outrageous. Piano gallery was way, cheaper and nicer .
Mike was incredibly helpful. He gave me all the info I needed about their electric guitar selection, then let me have the room and try out a bunch of different models and amps. Great place.
Incredible experience!!! The entire staff were great but Rulon the (GM) was perfect! This is how customer service should be. Selection top notch many options. Environment a model classic store as it should be. Relaxing atmosphere. But at the end of the day Rulon will calmly confidently and swiftly help you through the process. Always there when you need him but always just out of reach when you need those moments of solitude when you are trying to bond with your instrument. I am from WAY out of state and because of this will be buying as many things by online from here on as possible!! Thank you Rulon for making music and shopping a wonderful experience again!!
We attended a violin recital here and it was very nice. Also looked at new Yamaha electric pianos
Formally the Piano Gallery, this place has a very good choice of pianos, stringed instruments, and lots of other stuff. Their selection of upper end guitars and basses is impressive, specifically the Martins and Takaminis that played and sounded really good. And they were set-up pretty nice for good playability.
The store was pretty messy. In addition, both guitar rooms were locked making it difficult to see, touch, or play them (i.e., you have to ask permission). Some music stores do this to minimize scratches/damages from careless/clueless customers. I get that, but minus one star to music stores that uses the ‘lockdown’ method. Still…
Recommended.
I feel like the name on this music store is a little misleading. Should be called “No Limit Piano Co.” … because the electric guitar selection is very limited. Having said that, the acoustic guitar selection is very good and the prices seem to be on par with the national averages for things like Martins, Taylors and even PRS. Lots of pianos and other instruments that are not typically found at a guitar store. Overall, worth a visit. I haven’t bought anything yet but definitely might consider one of the many solid acoustic options.
Great selection and fantastic help!!
Don’t buy anything here! They don’t stand behind what they sell. Rulon is a liar and I have the emails to prove it. Been trying to resolve a problem and he wont get back to me at all…..STEER CLEAR!
11. Teton Music – Pianos & Sheet Music
Address: 3025 S 25th E, Ammon, ID 83406 , Fremont County , Idaho , United States
Spencer is just absolutely incredible! I can’t say enough good things about my experience purchasing my first ever baby grand from Teton Music. Thank you!!
I learned piano many years ago when I was young and have wanted to re-learn. Skylar at the Ammon store helped my husband surprise me with this fabulous electronic keyboard. Keyboards have come a long way since I first learned. It has weighted keys that makes it feel like real piano keys. Customer service and options were top notch! Happy to see this option in Ammon for music needs.
A wonderful selection of Pearl River pianos, and a great inventory of sheet music!
Set up a appointment for a piano tuning for 01/27/2023. I waited a month for this appointment. The day finally came and they no called no show and I even call the store to. I waited till next week again to try and contact them and still can’t get ahold of them. I do not recommend this place for piano tuning.
The owner is very knowledgeable and experienced. He will definitely take care of your instruments, and you can learn so much. The work is very reasonably priced as well!!
They were so good to me. They were very personal I were interested in me and my needs. I love this place.
My son is a music lover, so we stopped by the MusiCare shop while on our way home from our trip and it was definitely worth the stop. We got a live performance and filled with musical information Very nice people and very knowledgeable! My son loved it!
The guy that was working there was not very friendly but they got the job done
They had what I needed
Just a little expensive but they had what we needed
They did a great job moving my piano! I live in a basement apartment with a tiny staircase leading down into it. They were on time and were able to move the piano in with no problem. With the tricky minimal space there was they were quick to come up with solutions to maneuver it into our home. It was also done for a reasonable price. I would recommend them!
Amazing piano! Appreciate the delivery guys a lot! They did a great job moving and setting up the piano.
Our salesman at the ISU piano sale was very helpful, knowledgeable, and professional. We were able to pick the right piano for us, and for an amazing deal. The delivery guys, Ethan, Harrison, and Gabe, were AWESOME. Ethan was better about communicating with us than I have ever experienced with a professional delivery guy. He was very attentive, enthusiastic, and kind. The day of the delivery went just as well, with great communication, and no delays. The care and efficiency they used to bring our baby grand into our home, set-up, and placement to our liking were perfect in every way. We truly are completely satisfied with our experience with this sale and the professionals who treated us with such kindness. Thanks, IF Piano Guys! You rock!!!
Great music store mostly very nice pianos but why post all these piano teachers on your website if you don’t really have teachers to give lessons??? I called to see if I can start my son on lessons and they told me that they don’t give piano lessons, but was kind enough to give me a few numbers of teachers to call but unfortunately I got not a single call back from any of them. So a 3 stars is for the misleading website.
Walked in to look for a up right bass wondered around for 30 min no one else in the store no one offered help then when I asked some one they said they where on the phone with a customer like maybe I would of bought one or paid for some lessons . If I had some help . But a very warm and welcoming place just not staffed on a Thursday
True to their name, they have a lot of pianos. I was slightly disappointed in the lack of electric guitars because of their new “No Limits Guitar Co” name. But they had accessories I needed. And the staff was helpful.
It’s a good store but more expensive compared to other music stores. Good quality yes. But definitely not priced for a small budget musician.
Good quality products, but poor service. Violin parts are pseudo out of stock and will require up to a week to restock. Would avoid this place for all violin repairs/parts.
