Guitar Center has everything that a musician could ever want or need. It was an Awesome experience
Good
Great selection and staff are very helpful and friendly
Great selection
I bought a new piano and it was reasonably priced. The bottom panel of it was broken however, as if they don’t take great care of their stock.
The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable though and that’s why I go back.
There is always a large selection of guitars, but not a lot of associates to help. I really think overall the store is good, and the associates are helpful once they have a chance to help you. We go pretty regularly.
Not impressed with the service. You really have to work to get someone to help you. The overall vibe is one of contempt for their customers
I bought this guitar and returned home to find that it was cracked in two places. They would not warranty it even though they sold it broken less than a week ago.
Verkäufer kannte nicht Spector Bässe,
Verkäufer waren sehr nett und freundlich.
Das Angebot an Bässen ist nicht so umfangreich wie das der Gitarren.
3. Flipside Music
Address: 2231 S Platte River Dr, Denver, CO 80223 , Glendale , Colorado , United States
Outstanding customer service!! Ordered gear online expecting to have to wait for delivery. Next thing I know, I’m getting a call from Ike offering to deliver it to my house. Front door delivery folks, you don’t get service like that ANYWHERE. Great selection of pedals and amps too. Check out their store. Loving the REVV Generator 100P! Big thanks to Ike and Dylan.
Great place with massive knowledge, and super friendly and quick staff.
Great store. Great gear. Fantastic staff. Boutique feel with rock bottom pricing and centrally located. I tell everyone who asks to shop here.
Very knowledgeable staff and unique instruments
Good inventory for a small place.
This store is one of Denver’s hidden gems! I walked in looking for a bass pre-amp… These guys blew me away with their knowledge and friendlyness. They definitely know their stuff. I’d recommend flip side to any bassist or guitarist for any needs except repairs( I don’t know if they do repairs, I didn’t ask, as I already have a guy for that…).
Overly expensive and also lots of homeless people hanging outside on the street near by. It’s a dump.
4. The Denver Folklore Center
Address: 1893 S Pearl St, Denver, CO 80210 , Glendale , Colorado , United States
Came here for a guitar repair. Great customer service.
Wow! A superior customer experience in every aspect. I was searching for my first acoustic guitar. The internet and the big box music stores were just not hitting the mark. I needed more and found it at Denver Folklore Center. What I found were exceptional experts in all things string. The low key, individualized approach, guiding me through the broad selection of instruments and price points left me with several wonderful choices. Not being a guitar player, it was critical that they gave me the space to explore the instruments myself and allowed me hear the sound quality in the hands of an expert player. Once my desicion was made, they made sure the instrument was adjusted and maximized for my beginner playing ability. They suggested items to keep my guitar healthy and sounding great and just the right picks to enhance my playing success. I’m just starting my string journey and I’m confident that other guitars I purchase will be coming from Denver Folklore Center.
Mark, Jeff & company do such a great job of evaluating potential consignment pieces with constructive suggestions for improved sales opportunities. The staff is friendly and recognizes the regular folks by name upon arrival. I was able to sell several good quality antique mandolins at good prices in very reasonable time frames by good website advertising and store displays. I highly recommend these folks whether your buying or selling!
The shop itself, and especially Angus are fantastic. The luthier however, is not. I asked for one repair on my banjo, which they performed, but they also performed other destructive modifications without asking me. I only discovered the changes and damage when I examined the instrument on pickup. Thankfully it was “only” a $900 instrument. If this had happened to one of my more expensive pieces, I don’t know what I would have done.
Even with restrictions, the guys inside were super friendly and helpful (they even gave us some stickers for my boys’ guitar cases). If we lived closer (like, within the same time zone) we’d probably have bought something!
Knowledgeable staff, great selection
An older man sat in the middle of the store and made it clear to not play any instruments unless you were basically committed to purchasing. It was a stiff and uncomfortable environment. It is easy to see from many of the reviews that the business model needs an adjustment. Highly discourage coming unless you want to grovel at the feet of the owner. Also, there were no fiddles. How can they even call themselves a folklore center?
ZERO STARS if it was allowed
I called in advance before I drove down from Loveland to make sure it was ok to try some guitars. I had a specific Martin in mind that was in their inventory and had money in hand ready to buy. Ian was very helpful and set me up to play the guitar for about 30 minutes.
When I asked to look at another guitar, Ian obliged, but a surly older man emerged from the back room to scold me and tell me If I wasn’t prepared to spend “real” money on a guitar he’d rather not let me touch any. I understand covid considerations, which is why I called in advance before driving 60 MILES to make sure I could play. Mind you, there was not another customer in that building for the short time I spent.
Poor Ian looked stunned, and I politely left, completely embarrassed.
You’ve heard of snobbery in music stores?? Well his was worse than any Guitar Center will ever dish out. I will never do business or recommend this place to any one because of one of the worst retail experiences I’ve ever had.
I have successfully purchased that same guitar as of last week.
Came here while on a trip with a friend and mandolin student who was in the market for a new mandolin. She hadn’t played many because there aren’t really any places to play them where we live. I am always in the market for new instruments I like, and have several multi-thousand dollar instruments. So we went to the store, which had no other customers there, and looked at the mandolins.
She is pretty shy so I wanted to loosen her up into not feeling judged and free to try and compare. I grabbed one of the cheaper mandolins and did my typical trying out a mando routine of playing parts of tunes that try out the high, low, and mid ranges of the instrument. As soon as she started playing one of the cheaper Kentucky mandolins softly some guy came over and asked what we were looking for and that we could only play the instruments if we were going to buy them.
I gave him a quick synopsis of the situation and made the point that it’s hard to know what we’d want to buy until having played it. He replied with a smirk and said he could show us to something specific if we were interested, but couldn’t condone “jamming”. I was bewildered as we were not jamming at all, but simply lightly playing on some cheap mandolins at the same time.
Eventually he showed me to some octave mandolin that I pretended to be interested in due to the feeling that if I didn’t tell him something specific we’d be kicked out or something. I felt suspicious somehow. When he left, some younger guy came over and he was really cool. But that older guy killed any good vibes. I didn’t even try all the instruments I would have been considering to buy.
One would think that, especially in this day and age, brick and mortar music stores need to be a sanctuary for players to play instruments they’re shopping for.
5. School of Rock
Address: 560 S Holly St #15, Denver, CO 80246 , Glendale , Colorado , United States
it’s been one of our best experiences in Denver. SoR makes learning different kinds of music accessible to musicians of all levels, and the talent level of the staff is impressive. The shows at the end of each season are favorite local venues (ok, they’re bars 🙂 but what better way for kids to learn about the non-glamorous side of rock – load-in/load-out, and setting up. It’s been a great experience for our family.
Love, love, love this place! They do an amazing job of instrument lessons and teaching how to play in a group while giving amazing performance opportunities to young musicians.
The Rookies program has really ignited our 6-yr-old son’s interest in playing guitar. He looks forward to class every week!
Its sad to see the lost passion. If you want your kid to be technically capable then this is the place for you. He’ll get good attention and care. But if you want passion for music then its probably not the place…they care more about money and virtuosos then bringing out the love of music in kids.
The most entitled, dramatic group of kids I’ve ever met. Most of them come from well off families and walk around like they run the earth because of it, and others just come there to meet people to have sex with. It’s not a very good program, and hasn’t been since the new manager arrived. The House Band is a disgrace, with only half of the members being able to hold a candle to the last generation of House Band kids. School of Rock puts you in a bubble and while it may seem like what your kid is doing is cool, it just stunts growth in the music world. The only people who ever really come out to the School of Rock shows are the parents. If you’re thinking of putting your kid in School of Rock, I would advise you to instead have them take lessons there for a while, maybe do one show to learn some band communication skills (although nowadays that hardly even exists at School of Rock and people would much rather just say a sarcastic comment about you) and try to find people to play with. And if you think you might be able to start a band with other School of Rock kids, good luck. School of Rock teaches you to play covers, not write original music, so most School of Rock kids are inept.
– A Former Student
Had a negative experience after asking owner to pause my membership, charged my card for 2 months after I asked to cancel my lessons. Got my money back and was told the mistake would have been caught by an audit they were doing, but felt annoyed that I was the one to notice it.
I didn’t find answer on my question about Rok-n-Roll dance (!)school or studio
6. Wedgles Music & Loan
Address: 1122 Broadway, Denver, CO 80203 , Glendale , Colorado , United States
These guys are great! I just bought a left handed guitar. They were very professional and gave great advice for care and maintenance. I would totally go back again for any service or music product I need!
I’ve purchased two guitars from this store. This shop has been my first experience interacting with a pawn shop owner that possesses a sense of integrity. I purchased a guitar and asked to purchase new strings as well, and was informed that the guitar had already received new strings and didn’t need new ones- to the potential loss of profits for them. I bought the strings anyways. If you are not familiar or comfortable with these types of shops, I would recommend going here.
Fast and courteous service pleasure doing business with these people
Great little wheeln’ dealn’ music store. Have picked up some great used drum mics here. Not the greatest hours though, they close right at 5 everyday and closed on Sundays
I was in today 9/12/12.
As usual they were a bit busy, but said hi, and I wandered around.
I try to vist Wedgles any time I’m in Denver, and I’ve always been treated with respect, had questions answered and everyone was friendly.
I am sure, given their location, that they get the dregs of society in there on a far too frequent basis, and if you’ve ever worked in retail you know how difficult it can be dealing with the regular public, let alone those down on their luck.
I think these guys do a good job in a small space with difficult customers at times.
They are knowledgable, but I doubt any of them know everything about everything!
I don’t know about the bad comments other than that when a customer has a problem he will usually tell ten people, but when everything goes well, no one is the wiser.
If in doubt, stop in for perhaps the best selection of GOOD used guitars and instruments in Denver. While there today I saw 5 or 6 Fender Telecasters, a number of Gibson acoustics, a carved top or two, etc. Also some inexpensive lap steels (try to find a lap in a pawn shop!) and a few good quality tube amps.
Give these guys a shot, and ignore the whiners!
This is the local pawn shop for your instrumental needs. Great music items
Talked to a guy and said I’d be there right before close and they closed the doors early. Nice move guys.
The employees make you feel unwelcome. If you want people to buy your used stuff perhaps you should let them play it
I came in today to sell a violin. The owners are complete imbeciles, completely rude and totally ignorant of or feigning ignorance of the value of various violins. They offered absolutely nothing for my 2000$ antique violin which is a high quality antique, and has been played professionally. They didn’t even know how to research the value on it and exhibited completely abhorrent customer service. I would never return and recommend to anyone not to waste your time with this abysmal shop. This is a truly low quality business.
7. Target
Address: 4301 E Virginia Ave, Glendale, CO 80246 , Glendale , Colorado , United States
I can almost always find what I want there. This target is so huge and has so many options.
Dresser in stock at this store
Target Glendale is wonderful and has excellent customer service, I always enjoy my shopping experience here.
The restrooms were filthy
The main reason I go to this store it’s close to my apartment. There are friendly representatives and is a large store.
This is about average as a store there’s nothing special or a fantastic bad it just a store
Target has predatory return policies. They say it’s 30 days but an electronic has to be returned in store, the store turns around and says electronics have 14 day returns. Both the store and online departments say they can’t do anything about it. I’ll never purchase anything important from target again, and I’ll avoid them whenever possible. I’m on the hook for $350 of trash that doesn’t work bc it stopped working a few days after their return policy. The manufacturer warranty protection doesn’t cover it because it was purchased from target and not them.
Customer service and self check-out employees are extremely disrespectful. One regular lane open at night is NOT OK. Young punks do not understand when someone has a complaint or a concern. They just laugh and ignore you.
Over all the store display is nice but I will say that the some of the employees are not so nice. You can not try clothes on which makes sense it’s there job to inform you but how does that change when customers pick up and put down the products for other to touch also? How does that lessen the spread of diseases?
8. Barnes & Noble
Address: 960 S Colorado Blvd, Glendale, CO 80246 , Glendale , Colorado , United States
Books and coffee. Great place preview and buy books and other related items.
The staff was very helpful in helping me fjnd historical fiction.
very nice
Not my favorite Barnes and noble I’ve been too
Parking is good though entrance from street has kind of a goofy intersection.
Staff are nice and helpful.
If you have been to one Barnes and noble, this place shall have no surprises.
Great place for books
Love Barnes and Noble, I shop here frequently even up to a few times a week. But this Barnes and Noble seems chronically understaffed. Which, I can handle, usually a trip to the book store is a quiet relaxing experience for me, no rush. But the past few times I have been, the experience has been anything but relaxing. This store seems to routinely have a lot of noise pollution that is very distracting, annoying, and bothersome. I tried to speak to someone about this, but there was no one available. So I called and spoke with a manager that informed me that they leave out toys and nooks for children to play with. I was unaware that Barnes and Noble had turned into a toy and play store. Since it has, I will be taking my business to other stores that are interested in selling books and in being around for their customers.
Melinda was incredibly rude
Kelsey at this location is not nice -or- helpful. Damaged goods “aren’t her problem”. Go to the Aurora location – they’re all lovely there.
9. Holbrook Piano Studio
Address: 4550 Cherry Creek S Dr, Denver, CO 80246 , Glendale , Colorado , United States
Awesome store, awesome people. Sonor was supposed to ship a part directly to my house and shipped it to the store instead. Marco went out of his way to deliver it to me after hours. Above and beyond customer service right there. You’re the man Marco!
When it comes to music equipment Rupps Drums has all the best brands.
Most of all, the staff is continuously striving to improve the value it delivers to its customers
Awesome drum shop! Excellent staff and excellent service! A drummers paradise.
This is a great local drum shop and the location is good for people in the Denver metro area. Please please please, go to Rupp’s in the Denver metro area, not Guitar Center.
Good collection of drums, great service
Nice variety
Good quality
Check them out
I thought I would support small businesses in America as often as possible so I put in an order to Rupps for over $ 700 after a week I called and found out my order had NOT been sent. I had to call to find out my order had not been processed. I WILL NEVER TRY Doing Business WITH Rupps EVER AGAIN!!! I Do NOT!!! recommend these IDIOTS to ANYONE!!!
Ordered a conga drum head & paid a deposit two weeks ago and told them when I absolutely needed it. Very nice salesman said it should be in, no problem. As the deadline approached, I called and asked if my drum head had arrived and the owner said he’d call the supplier to check & get the tracking number and that he’d call me back with an update. I never got a call back. I never got my drum head in time for my gig. Store is now closed for the weekend. Will have to call and get my deposit back. It’s unfortunate because I heard such good things about Rupps. If you are not comfortable guaranteeing product delivery by a specific date, then you should not take a customer’s order.
I have been a loyal customer of Rupps Drums for approx. 25 years until today. Here is my experience:
Yesterday I visited Rupp’s to price and test various Sabian Prototype cymbals and was assisted by a very nice and helpful young lady “Ad********” . She evaluated my trade in cymbals and priced them. I chose the cymbal that I want to trade for. A written deal was given me to me so that we could identify exactly what was specified in the transaction.
Today, I contacted Rupp’s and was told to bring in the cymbals for trade and all the documentation was available as per the sales lady from yesterday. I gathered up the cymbals that I wanted to trade and brought them to the store. When I arrived at the store, I identified myself and was recognized by an individual that claimed to be the new sales manager. Upon confirming the information, he refused to honor the price that was given to me for the exact same cymbal trade that was provided to me the day before. Even though it was documented, It was not honored. This is the full story. This new sales manager was on his first day. This will be the very last time that I will visit or do business with Rupp’s Drums after 25 years as a loyal customer.
You can not trust the word of their staff to follow through with the offers that they provide for the merchandise agreed upon. This is legally a breach of contract.
Buyer beware !!!!!!!
I brought the Cymbals to Denver Percussion. They honored the values and treated me like gold. What a great bunch of people. Goodbye Rupp’s. Denver Percussion is where I will shop locally.
12. Instant Classic: Audio Production, Recording, and More
Address: 1267 S University Blvd, Denver, CO 80210 , Glendale , Colorado , United States
Awesome staff super friendly and great prices! If your in that area I recommend stopping by
Nice selection of used gear and friendly staff. Unfortunately, they didn’t have what I was looking for.
I’ve bought and sold music gear for years here. Always get a fair price both ways. I wouldn’t recommend anywhere else
Have a good selection of musical equipment. Some new and some used. Deals can be had, prices are very fair. They buy used equipment and offer a fair price. Call to make sure items offered on website are still available before drive to location as items tend to move fast.
Lots of used gear to choose from
I casually mentioned a guitar seen on Craigslist from Gravity to my out of state girlfriend. A few weeks later, at Christmas, a gentleman came to my door holding a guitar in a gig bag, and told me he had a present from my girlfriend! Nice guitar, and super delivery service from Chris at Gravity!
Expect about 10% of your gears value. I should have known it was a low end store when I walked in. It’s loaded with a bunch of junk that they are asking more than retail for on some of it. I brought in some high end recording gear that USED is worth over 2500.00. They offered me $120.00. Talk about being insulted!! A better response would be to tell me that they are just not interested. Unless your desperate don’t bring your gear here!!! Total rip off all the way around!!!
Came in with 2 guitars and they offered 60% below market price as opposed to the 30% that’s standard. Kid behind the front desk refused to let me ask his supervisor why the extra low bids, refused to give me a price over the phone so they wasted 40mins of my time.
Stopped at Gravity Music with a friend to buy some gear, got half way through the place, and were told they were closed. We both were going to buy guitars at that point, but they weren’t willing to discuss prices unless we were “paying cash today” to buy the instruments. Thought discussing price took place before making purchase decision, but not at Gravity Music, where “gravity” just brings you down.
14. Hunk-Ta-Bunk-Ta Music
Address: 2595 E Cedar Ave, Denver, CO 80209 , Glendale , Colorado , United States
Friendly, knowledgeable, and great to talk to. Made a quick repair on my Jazz bass while I waited. Though it isn’t the norm, he made and exception and really made my day. I would definitely recommend. Great above and beyond customer service.
Fast service at a great price. Justin does great work!
Awesome service. Very helpful.
16. Music & Arts
Address: 5158 S Broadway, Englewood, CO 80113 , Glendale , Colorado , United States
Eddie and Tracy were so helpful when I took my 9th grader in to look for an electric guitar for her class at school! They got us excited and taught us everything about the product, which was a fantastic deal. Definitely felt life a small business and that they cared about us. Thank you guys!!
Incredible service! Very Nice staff! Went there looking to buy a guitar string to fix my broken one. Figured I’d have to buy a whole set and then learn how to string it myself. Not only did they sell me just a single string but put it on the guitar and tuned the guitar too. Admittedly I feel guilty paying next to nothing for that service but now that I know the store is here I will definitely make it my go to place
I’ve had great experiences the two times I’ve visited this store. The most recent time I visited I got my banjo restrung and tuned which was done very well.
Nice place check it out
Decent sheet music selection. They do repairs but send the instrument off for them to be done. Double check the repair receipt as mine was overcharged by $120.00. They did fix the error, but only after I argued 3 times with the workers. Satisfactory but not my first choice. I do love the accessory selection though.
i guess its okay if you want a 99$ beginner acoustic or an overpriced pair of drum sticks…
Music & Arts on Lone Tree is far superior to this location. Thought I’d try this store since it’s a little closer to my home. The employee I dealt with today treated me like a total inconvenience. Going back to Lone Tree.
Run don’t walk from this business! Worst experience I have ever had. The company policy of auto billing for lesson and auto scheduling is broken and just wrong! I would call each week and ask that they cancel my lesson and remove me from the auto scheduling only to be on the next weeks schedule. Also asked the manager to no bill my card for another month of lessons only to be billed and then I find out the manager has left. What a terrible experience and I will never do business with this company again. I wish I had checked with the bbb web site before doing business with this company. Terrible reviews and right as rain!
Horrible customer service. Have been dealing with a billing issue for over a year. Their employee screwed up, I sent them the proof, and yet they still tried to send me to collections. And I’m still out the money. Each time I’ve tried to communicate with them, it’s always that they will give me a call back and they never do. Because of this, I plan on trying to protect people from this company. Because if there is a mistake, they like to screw you.
17. Redbox
Address: 4600 Leetsdale Dr, Glendale, CO 80246 , Glendale , Colorado , United States
Just received my online purchase (zildjian dyno beat hi hat cymbal)from MGR Littleton. Couldn’t be happier. Great communication from Kobe. Fast shipping and packaged to perfection . Thanks!!
Great shop! You can expect to pay a little more than average for used fear here, but they are VERY thorough with inspections before they buy. You can trust you will get good gear. Use as a last resort for selling though. They will give you next to nothing for your used gear. They have to make money right. Overall, staff is very friendly and helpful and new gear rolls in pretty consistently which is good and bad news for those of us with incorrigible G.A.S.
UPDATE:
Store owner Jason followed up on his promise to resolve the situation. I stopped by the other day and Jason refunded the purchase in full and made this right. The receipt doesn’t mention needing to have original packaging for returns as Dan originally said, so the return should have been accepted within the 10 days we first returned but because store owner Jason did make this right in the end I am therefore changing my rating from one star to four stars.
Bought a sax mouthpiece for the saxophonist performing for an event I hosted. The mouthpiece was defective and she was unable to perform meaning the trio could not perform either. We took the mouthpiece back the next day and manager Jason would not accept return of the defective mouthpiece even with the receipt in hand claiming it there was nothing wrong even though the saxophonist is a top performer in the area. We would expect better from a nationwide chain.
Love the store !!Been going there for 15 years. New owner seems to be a straight forward Stand-up guy, they said to smash this guitar my guitar tech made it play beautifully
What a scam. Very unfriendly staff, no customer service skills at all
Do not buy anything used. The warranty is only good for sore credit. They sell you something broken or on the edge of broken and then you can only get store credit. The staff is very friendly and helpful but the used products are poor quality and worthless. I lost $200 to this store. The USB midi port did not work at all, wouldn’t even turn on. The akai mpk-25 controller stopped working properly after one month. I took very good care of these items. I would not waste your time on this scamming “must-be struggling” establishment. Especially if you are serious about music.
Every time I buy gear here something is wrong with it. Just paid $60.00 for a set of Gibson Deluxe tuners. Installed them and two of the cover fell off. Someone had cut the tabs off all the covers. Really tired of the lack of attention to the functionality of the gear they sell. Will not buy here again!
19. Julie Geller – Jewish Musician and Artist Coach
We got to try several instruments before deciding on which one I would take home loved the staff interaction. No pressure at all. Thank you guys
You couldn’t ask for a better music store, nicer people or better repair service. My Mom bought my first trumpet for me here 30 years ago when I started playing music, and I’ve been coming here ever since. Highly, highly recommend!
I am a musician and have been involved with Flesher-Hinton for over 10 years. They always have a wonderful selection to meet my needs and the staff are very knowlegable. I highly recommend Flesher-Hinton for all your music needs!
There’s parking at the new location. Really reasonably priced supplies. Not the best selection for buying instruments though. Since their relocation, seems they’re putting more emphasis on instrument repair. Still probably the best music supply shop in the area
Like always the services people were just great.
The people employees are professional, knowledgeable, and ready to help!
As with any store like this, you can expect them to be salesmen, though they don’t push too hard and don’t avoid helping you find the lowest priced items.
The technicians are great, but I wish they had a bit more enthusiasm.
If you are testing out brass instruments or such, the practice room they put me in had too much reverb to get accurate samples, even with a recording device. I have yet to ask if they had a more acoustically dry room.
They can order sheet music and products, and have all the basics and many accessories for band musicians.
Went in to check out acoustic guitars earlier today. Got an important call as I was about to tune a guitar I was checking out and the guy behind the counter just starts blowing into some sort of wind instrument seemingly deliberately because taking a quick phone call. So I hung up the guitar and just walked out.
But the guy who welcomed me when I walked in seemed nice.
Just terrible experience! Purchased a new wood clarinet 5 months ago. Found out it was cracking, unfortunately happens if not taken care of, but not in the first 5 months.
Took 2+ months to fix, when we finally picked it up, some old guy in the store started telling my 16 year old daughter about keeping it greased every six months- lecturing her because it was so dried out! Finally stepped in and told him…we bought it here less than 5 months ago…in other words, you sold an old dried out clarinet for $2000.00. Will never ever step foot in this store again d/t the service dept.
