I had an absolutely great shopping day here!! I focused primarily on the first floor and the space to the south side of the building. I kept using baskets that were for sale to carry my selections. (And I also bought the baskets I used!). Lots and lots of small treasures with jewelry, collectibles and silk flowers and ribbons were purchased! The lady running that area was very helpful and friendly. She was very organized with wrapping and keeping everything together. I’ll be back sooner rather than later!!
I absolutely love antiquing and have enjoyed both of my experiences at Gramps in Hebron! There are 3 floors filled with beautiful gems! I always find something there, love their sweet staff and the prices are very reasonable! Dare I say it’s my favorite antique store! I highly recommend Gramps for fun finds and antiques.
A great store fairly priced with a wide selection of antiques that’ll appeal to your individual taste! Check out the warehouse next door!
Grampys was closed on tuesday. Very disappointed. I cant give it real star rating cuz its closed.
Es el mejor helado que puedo tener, las personas que trabajan allí son muy amables! Les recomiendo ese lugar.
nice store great prices
Too much stuff piled on top of everything.
Meh
Have always enjoyed antique shopping, however, the woman working at first ignored me as I walked by her. Thinking bad day and trying to cheer her up, I smiled, said Hello, and asked her a simple question. She was so incredibly rude, even condescending and insulting! When I heard her say something negative to the next customer, I left and went next door to Grampys Resale and other shops where people at each were super friendly and helpful!! Other stores were great.
2. Prairie Avenue Antiques & The Tack Exchange
Address: 9936 Main St, Hebron, IL 60034 , Hebron , Illinois , United States
A delightful antique store with a wide variety of vendors and inventory on multiple floors. Prices are very fair and the proprietor is pleasant. Not a lot of extremely old items, most mid century or newer, but most items are in excellent condition. I enjoyed the search here. On street parking is easily located.
Definitely a good little shop with a lot of variety, had a few things I was looking for in great condition. 🙂
Everything is nicely displayed and there’s alot of things to look at.
All sorts of stuff to tempt you, with a current holiday discounts on ornaments and other store items. Did not walk away empty handed.
Love this antique store but literally got locked inside when the owner left for the night beautiful items tho
not much there and pricey
Great place! But the owner locked us inside before closing hours! Shout out to the hebron police for getting us out ✌️
3. Main Street Ice Cream Station
Address: 10008 Main St, Hebron, IL 60034 , Hebron , Illinois , United States
The owner is very personable and friendly. Reasonable prices that a family can afford. Ice cream is great.
Such a cute icecream parlor on the way to or from Lake Geneva. The seats are from an old ferris wheel the he had refurbished. The owner and employees were so friendly and I loved hearing him share stories about the history of the place and pictures on the wall . The icecream was delicious and the prices were great! Try the key lime pie flavor and blueberry. There are also three antique shops right nextdoor!
Quaint old time ice cream parlor. Delicious array of ice options and toppings
Really good. Super nice owner
What a neat experience coming into this little cafe. The first thing I noticed was the gorgeous wood floors- I literally felt like I had stepped back into time. So charming!
Our family got the ice cream which is by Cedar Crest (so yummy). The servings seemed a little scant for the price, but the experience was so interesting that I have already told others to come here!
Fun shop great ice cream
Hebron seemed like a nice place. We wanted to take our children for icecream while passing through. The Dari is closed for the season. We pull up to see a vessel of hatred and bigotry. It saddens me to see a small place like Hebron openly filled with hateful rhetoric and misinformation. Who would turn something as wholesome as icecream into a support center for people trying to destroy our country. Nothing can describe the feeling of going for ice cream and being shown such blatant hatred. Seeing blue lives matter merchandise sold alongside Donald Trump merchandise breaks my heart. You can’t support our police while supporting a man who encouraged a group of simple minded baboons to storm our Nation’s Capital, steal an election and kill police. If you are a family person. If you have decent values and respect for our constitution, stay away from Hebron. It’s a small town proudly filled with hatred.
Found a hair in my birthday cake ice cream. Not okay. Won’t be going back.
We drove to Hebron to go to this place. We were excited to try it out. But when we drove up we we’re surprised to see such anti-american signage on the front of an Ice cream shop. We decided not to patronize this establishment. Would have called the owner but no phone # listed. This is the only restaurant I have ever seen without a phone #. I wonder what kind of calls they were getting to remove it from the listing?
4. Explosive Ink Tattoo
Address: 9911 Main St A, Hebron, IL 60034 , Hebron , Illinois , United States
Amazing quality, care, clean environment, comfortable atmosphere, professional and friendly. I get all my work done by these guys and highly recommend!!!!
A true artist, only place I will recommend.
Super clean! Love both, Bret and Lisa. Great cover ups, love all my tattoos you have done! You guys are the best!
These guys are awesome. They fixed my wife’s keyboard just in time for her birthday and it was very reasonable.
Fantastic local shop staffed with very knowledgeable musicians. Stop in and check them out!!
good prices on used drum gear. would like to talk to the owner who’s a drummer. the young man that works only on Friday isn’t knowledgeable about all the inventory. don’t pop in if you’re in a hurry. nice place.
I had a music lesson scheduled for 1/8/20 at 6:30pm I had a morning Dr.s appointment in Milwaukee The original scheduling would have allowed me plenty of time to got to the store. unfortunately The Doc found something worrisome and need me to stay for tests that is when I called to try and reschedule and this saga began. This store literally stole 3 lessons worth of my money with out remorse…because I had a medical emergency!
It is very unfortunate that this store is not run like a local business servicing their neighbors. I have been going to Pearl Street for years. I have bought several instruments and accessories, including a previous owners personal guitar. I nave taught myself a bit and can play a bit but I decided to get some polish with lessons. I bought 5 lessons and took one that night is was great. The teacher was awesome. The following week I had an appointment in Milwaukee but was scheduled to be home for my lesson. Well the Doc found some stuff that need further attention. I called The store to reschedule my appointment but the told me I would be charged full price. I explained to deaf ears about the issue, nope, you lose the lesson, You can start back up with your remaining lessons next week. I don’t care about the money but when a small, local business is this inflexible with it’s neighbors then would rather go big box and get the pricing.
So I got a call from the store and The owner tells me there is no refund or reschedule. I had asked him to refund the remaining balance on my account he said that I have to give 2 weeks notice. so he now has taken 3 lessons fees for absolutely no services rendered. In the Us code it is defined as theft.
Please see attached voicemail transcript to see how this store treats a medical emergency.
Here is the voice mail transcript from ken the owner (I believe).
“Hi this message is for Gary this is Ken Pearl Street music um on the oil over here and __ signed up for lessons with Nate and then um we paid for the month and then you didn’t show up today I heard you want to refund because you were upset um about um our policy um but we have a contract that you signed so I mean you know about ___ policy it says it on the contract right on the contract it says anytime student _______ _ lesson then um you don’t get a refund for that lesson iMessage within 24 hours and um yeah that’s just how that works um it’s in the contract we can email you the contract that you signed ____ that says that that’s fine if you want um and if you wanna refund um for the rest of the lessons for the month um it also says on your contract that you need to put in a two week notice when you wanna quit so you would always for two more lessons anyway so I would say why don’t you just finish out the month and if you want to put in your two week notice um starting today that’s fine um but yeah he signed a contract um that you’re fine with canceling the same day and not getting credit for it and ___ also signed a contract I said you have to give it two ____ notice before you quit so um yeah those are store policies if you can give us a call back or you can email me Pearl Street music at att.net if you have any other questions or concerns um if I have your email um I’ll look and see if I have your email I can just email you the contract that you signed OK and we’ll talk then thank you bye-bye…”
You lack the charm of a neighborhood business.
Brought my new guitar in for a set up. Assured that it would be done right in 2 weeks. Called after 2 weeks and was told they hadn’t even started on it. Will never shop here again. Couldn’t be more disappointed.
Only been at the store 3 times. 1st visit was ok. 2nd I asked for a guitar cable to try out an amp. The owner refused to provide one even though I said I would keep the volume down. 3rd time I was allowed to play a guitar for a while at low volumes, then the owner rudely placed his hand on the guitar and said “You need to leave.” What’s the point of having a business if you don’t allow customers to try out your instruments? I will never do business with them again and will happily give my money to another music store.
7. Hoops Sports Bar & Grill
Address: 10521 IL-47, Hebron, IL 60034 , Hebron , Illinois , United States
Great server, amazing brisket stroganoff, and even better prices. We will definantly come back.
Friendly staff, great food!
Place wad great! Good time
Great burgers,and specials
Love the pizza!! Great service
Good food, cold drinks and great service.
Waitress paid no mind even though it was dead. Food not good either
This place used to be my favorite place to go for a beer and some ears. We stopped in there tonight and we’re very disappointed. The burgers had some kind of “gas” taste to them. My wife couldn’t even eat hers. Very difficult to get our check and pay so we could go elsewhere to get something to eat. I am sorry because this used to be one of my favorites
Nothing special. Food was warm, portions ok.
8. Piano Trends Music Company
Address: 35 Berkshire Dr, Crystal Lake, IL 60014 , Hebron , Illinois , United States
I had Piano Trends move a piano to my home. Tim was extremely responsive and professional in setting up the move. Demitri (sp?) and another gentleman (the movers) were very polite and quick! No damages to home or piano. I highly recommend!
Sadly don’t live in the area anymore, and was thinking how much I wish I could just call Piano Trends to get my French horn cleaned as it is due! My family has gone to Piano Trends since I was a child and they’ve always been brilliant. Hoping my new horn servicer can live up to the high expectations that Tim and co have set!
I was looking for a good, inexpensive used upright piano, and they have a boatload of them. If you don’t find what you want, they’ll take you to the warehouse and show you more — although it’s a bit difficult to try playing the ones in the warehouse. They didn’t try to sell me more piano than I needed or wanted. They provided truly personalized service. They really seem to care about developing a long-term relationship with customers.
Very nice selection.
Friendly service. A wonderful local business.
Worst place ever. Waist of time and money. I would not recommend this place. Stay away from this place.
Bought a beautiful piano paid cash … husband walked out needed money for kids paid piano trends to sell for me they refused to answer or send money I even paid for them to pick up in same town for 300. Now and then they refuse to respond to me
9. Hebron, Illinois

Assessment: ★★★★½
4.5/5 based on 4 evaluations.
10. Make’n Music
Address: 780 W Frontage Rd, Northfield, IL 60093 , Hebron , Illinois , United States
Guitar and bass selection is massive! The staff has always been extremely helpful. Can’t remember his name exactly but I think Mickey has helped me on several occasions and his knowledge and patience were perfect! Highly recommend!!
They treat you well. My experience was terrific. Bought a basic Fender tube for practice and was treated like a king. The selection of guitars is good and they do not sell a lot of effects pedals which is good too, because most of them are not necessary. I like places who emphasize guitars and amps more than effects.
I saw on another website that they were selling one of my dream guitars, so I called them up and asked them a few questions and a few minutes later I was the proud owner of said guitar. They had shipped it within the next couple of hours and it was at my door 24 hours later. After owning this guitar for a week I saw that the manufacturer had a black Friday Sale for the exact model I purchased. I contacted Make’N Music and a week later they were able to refund me money for the sale price. The manufacturer is in Israel by the way. This place knows and understands customer service to the tee! I hope I am able to purchase many more products through them. They went above and beyond for me! Truly an awesome business!
Great people. Real nice, know what they’re talking about. Take their gear over the local competition because they just know it better, even if it isn’t spooky. Their techs are very likely great but weren’t in-site available when I visited. It’s still a beautiful shop.
Great store. Middle of nowhere. And definitely not the shop pictured. They had Les Pauls. But would not sell them. What’s up with that.? Very small selection in unless all you want is Airline guitars. No one said much. Just some people hanging out. Not clean and shiny like pictured. I believe they must have downsized big time. Not impressed. oh well. Ive been to the place pictured years ago. Impressive. What happened?
Great service
It is always closed. Make sure you check its web site to see if it is open.
Store is really different from the earlier locations off Milwaukee Ave., Ohio St., and Artesian. Even the store off Hubbard – after the move from Artesian – had far more inventory.
Though I could be wrong, it seems as though the days of finding tons of high-end boutique, FCS, GCS and PRS guitars hanging on the walls is gone. Also gone are the days of 8-10 really cool high-end amp makers being represented, including several products on the floor from builders like Elmwood, Bogner, Matchless, Victoria, Fuchs and on and on. The effects offerings are also a small portion of what they used to be.
Not quite sure what happened to the store the past couple/few years. Used to be, far and away, the finest boutique shop in the country (used to get regular visits from cats like Billy Gibbons, Keith Richards and many others that would fly in just to buy gear).
I wish the current guys the best of luck. And hope they have a long and healthy ride. Would be cool to see the store return to its former glory years, when it was The Grand Daddy of cool gear.
THESE GUYS THINK THEY ARE SO SMART!!!!!!!!!
11. North Shore Music
Address: 405 1/2 Linden Ave, Wilmette, IL 60091 , Hebron , Illinois , United States
This is an awesome place to improve your skills in music. The owner really knows his stuff and the staff is always helpful when it comes to rescheduling lessons. Can’t recommend enough.
Great place to take guitar, drums or bass lessons! My Son’s been in 3 sessions here and has progressed immensely.
Highly recommend! Alejandro went out of his way to accommodate us and it is much appreciated. So nice to deal with a music shop that is not corporate, wonderful to have someone who is proud of his craft and supportive of the community as well as their love of music!!!
My family and I were at the Sunday market last week. We had a great time and met some friendly shoppers and other vendors. It is a great venue and we loved the atmosphere. We will definitely be back!
Love hanging out at ‘The House of Music’. Each room has a different vibe and theme. Live bands. Café has REALLY GOOD CHAI LATTE made by cute baristas.
The outdoor bar and outdoor seating area are my favorite. Large area for kids to play. Once in a while you get a peek at the mysterious, handsome, eccentric owner.
Also, TACO TUESDAYS Mmmmm!!!
We went to their Jazz Festival. Music was great Outside venue, plenty of room. Food trucks, vendors, beer, wine, mixed drinks. Two stages.
What an awesome place, Lake Geneva can rock now!
Parking: Wear proper shoes, ground is all rock, and very uneven ground.
15. Musicology
Address: 452 N Pine St, Burlington, WI 53105 , Hebron , Illinois , United States
Brought my homemade frakenstrat replica here to get wired up because Im bad at soldering. I had asked for nothing else to be touched and I got it back with the only difference being slightly lower action which I cant complain about. Ive had bad experincied with guitar stores before and I came here because of all the high reviews, and yeah they deserves them.
I like to give the gift of music, but I’m not an expert. That doesn’t matter at all because the associates at Musicology are always very welcoming, patient and helpful while this grandma chooses gifts for my grandsons. It didn’t phase anyone that I ask a lot of questions and make decisions slowly. “Musicologists” help, but also back off to give me “think time”. Over the years I have purchased three guitars and rented a trumpet. Selecting beginners music books was easy after I described my grand’s musical tastes. Musicology is my kind of place.
Decent prices for a store front, we’ve spent some money in there. Nice and clean. But the guy who’s always working, I’d imagine the owner, isn’t a friendly guy whatsoever. Try to have a conversation with him and it’s like he’s annoyed that you’re talking to him and not spending money. Think we’ve spent out last dollar there. Was stoked for Burlington too.
We went in to look at guitars they had not been there when they where set to open and when they finally did the only thing they asked was what are price range was and showed what instruments where in the range and than walked off to tall with anouther employee about cats.
16. Axes Music Group
Address: 19715 South La Grange Road Suite 3, Mokena, IL 60448 , Hebron , Illinois , United States
Great experience there. Friendly staff and more importantly were very motivated to get me anything I needed. I will definitely be back!
Words cannot describe the incredible service Axes Music has provided me for years. Not only have the incredible talented staff taught me how to play many instruments, they have carefully guided me into a career in music which I absolutely love. This business is absolutely incredible and each and every member of their staff is extremely talented, and very friendly. Overall Axes Music is the place to go for music lessons, instrument service, and professional recording.
17. Luscombe Music Inc
Address: 122 W Vallette St, Elmhurst, IL 60126 , Hebron , Illinois , United States
Great staff, very helpful. Support your local music store!! The internet might offer lower prices, but building a personal relationship with your local business is priceless. Sign up for private lessons today!
My daughter (6) takes piano lessons here and we have always had a pleasant experience! The staff is kind, friendly and helpful, the store is clean and the studios are nice. We are lucky to have such a wonderful gem right here in Elmhurst!
Got my 45 year old trombone cleaned and checked over. The slide is working the best it ever has. Also, a great selection of music. So nice to be able to look at an entire book instead of a sample page or two.
Yearly music by the pound sale is AMAZING
The teachers are great but the instruments and rentals are not so great, since the recent downsize, you can’t find some things there.
Extremely unprofessional. We got on the wait list, waited 2 months and got a call saying they had a spot for our day and time. We returned the call the next day saying we wanted to start as soon as possible. Office called us back saying the the instructor, Elizabeth Olson, should be calling us to make the final arrangements. She called the Sunday of MLK weekend, we were with family the next two days. We connected Tuesday and she wanted to do an assessment on the day we agreed on but a time that didn’t work and wasn’t agreed upon. She said she understood and arranged the following week on the original agreed upon time and day. We accepted, then she messages us and said she found another client that would use the extra day and bumped us out. When we questioned her motive, she said this is just business.
way over priced
18. Crash and The Paramedics
Address: 321 Freeman St, Genoa City, WI 53128 , Hebron , Illinois , United States
Had a wonderful time.
Bought an amazing guitar.
Assistance was perfect.
Stellar, stellar store. Our son took drum lessons, then guitar, and got his first part-time job there. Everyone is very warm and knowledgeable. Our son’s teachers became more like friends and mentors than instructors.
They have a wide selection of guitars and basses at very good prices (I cross-checked a few against other stores). It wasn’t easy finding a left-handed acoustic guitar, but they were very helpful and patient in tracking one down for us.
The repair shop is also superb; they seem capable of fixing just about anything.
It’s a great part of the community and one I find myself just popping into when I’m out and about.
Cool place lots of guitars good teachers
Very knowledgeable…was in and out in 30 mins with a great used guitar for a great price!
Great local place with friendly staff!
I’ve been in a few guitar shops and this ranks pretty high. The ding was for lowballing me.
Brought in two guitars over the summer. An old Ibanez musician and a newer Eastman semi-hollow body. They thought it would be done in about a week and turns out they were busy and that is fine. Several weeks later i was contacted about the Ibanez and I appreciated the recommendations and ultimately did not have any work done on it. The other guitar was supposed to get a new pick-up selector switch, re-strung and set-up (I had already taken the strings off). I picked the guitars up (paid) and did not think to open the cases to look at them. I got home and they had literally not touched the Eastman. No strings, no new selector switch , nothing. I couldn’t believe it. Still can’t…
Brought my five string J Bass in for repair. They were not able to fix the problem, and even worse they forgot to put the battery cover back on the bass, lost the screws, and didn’t even offer to replace them!
I had the worst experience, I left my guitar for strings replacement and calibration. The gave my guitar back with the truss rod !loose! And the neck with a giant bow. I ended up calibrating the guitar myself.
20. Evanston Band & Orchestra
Address: 4141 Main St, Skokie, IL 60076 , Hebron , Illinois , United States
One of a kind place. Reasonable, professional, one stop for all things band.
Good service they work with you for any problem ot issues with the instrument
The place is kind of a highly popular place to get ypur horn fits
Ted & Craig do a great job on instrument repairs.
Very helpful staff
I called to ask about replacing a string on my bass guitar. I’d tried another location, but due to the recent ice/snow storm, parking was within walking distance was impossible or illegal. The man who answered the phone was very “short” with me and impatient… Because of his demeanor, I would NOT recommend anyone doing business with this company. Who wants to pay to have someone be so rude to them (outside of certain Chicago resturants)? I’ll take my money and future busines elsewhere~
Avoid this business. I returned a rented flute in September 2021 and I am still being charged in May 2022.
I’m not using my real name for a reason. BE WARNED! Instruments are ridiculously overpriced and you will NOT get the bang for your buck! Look for a different store that sells instruments at their REAL price or LOWER. I’ve recently used Facebook Marketplace or Amazon. Take this seriously! Don’t waste your money on instruments that aren’t worth their price!
