I love the prices and the staff has always been helpful.
Great experience! Would definitely come back. If you go ask for Mr. Floyd. He took good care of us with our purchase.
I got something I didn’t expect
Good service good people
Thia place is the best
This store is the worst store I’ve ever been in in my life they stole my moms TV and swapped it out with an older model when we looked up the TV in there system its showed they took her smart TV an gave her back a plasma TV its a600 hundred dollar steal I’m going to try my best to get a civil lawsuit against them folks don’t let them get you like they did me check your products when picking up you might find they trying to swap your belongings too
Better off going somewhere else they will rip you off by selling products with missing pieces and dont want to give you your money back then say our policy say instore credit only when asked to show they cant display this policy in writing
Alot of reviews say if ur a regular customer, that you get better deals, if ur a regular customer then you must have a drug habit or something, not a bad place, will try one more time
4. Old Town School Music Store
Address: 4544 N Lincoln Ave, Chicago, IL 60625 , Hometown , Illinois , United States
Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff, in a really great store. 5 stars all round.
The bestest school EVER!
This is where world-renowned Gothic entertainer, Mini Manson, studies.
Absolutely professional all the way.
As an entertainer, I always need to grow. The teachers coach me individually, even in group classes. They are helpful, caring and attuned to all student needs.
Recommend 100%
Interesting offerings, always a lefty or three.
Great show for World Music Wednesdays
Good selection of Martin guitars, sometimes sale pricing.
After being told I could have my 45 year old dulcimer restrung same day, I arrived, instrument in hand, to find out that it could only happen the following day. So again on day 2, I spent an hour on local Chicago transit – $10 – and returned to have the counter person tell me that they would not be able to do the work. He claimed he’d called me.
Turns out he called (leaving no message) minutes before I arrived at the store.
If you plan on doing anything more than buying an instrument, make sure you are dealing with an adult who has a grip on customer service.
5. Manny’s Organ Service
Address: 7818 S Karlov Ave, Chicago, IL 60652 , Hometown , Illinois , United States
It’s a place you have to see to believe! The place is a lot bigger than it first appears and the whole secondfloor is dedicated to lessons. If you get a chance check out one of the live mic nights or bluegrass jam sessions, because I’ve just witnessed an eight year-old play drums to apache. This place is doing a lot of good for the community as well as new musicians.
Our school district recently purchased ukuleles for the students and teachers in our elementary schools. Steve Haberichter worked directly with Cordoba to get us the best price and to make sure that the large purchase went smoothly from start to finish. After the order was placed, Steve was responsive to inquiries and kept me informed frequently on shipment status. Once the order was delivered, Steve arranged the pick up outside of normal business hours to accommodate our scheduling needs.
Steve is both courteous and gracious and his customer service is top-notch. I highly recommend Down Home Guitars!
Every time I walk into Down Home Guitars, whether it is to buy something or just look around, I am always greeted by a staff member and feel very welcomed there. On many different occasions I have seen the staff go out of their way to create a relaxed and inviting environment and to make me feel like I am part of the Down Home “Community”. That’s why I always recommend people stop by the shop, because it is so much more than just a music store. It is a music community. There are individual lessons (which I only hear good things about), open mic nights, concert series, clinics and group classes, and “jam sessions” every week where anyone can stop in and play music together. I have also seen Down Home reach into other parts of the community as well. Steve (the owner) and other instructors from the store have stopped by the school where I work multiple times to do music demonstrations for the students, and they even help judge the annual school talent show each year. I am so grateful for this store and proud to be part of the Down Home community.
The store carries beautiful high-end acoustic instruments. They also hold some impressive seminars and concerts. If you want the very best and can spend 6K on a guitar then this store may be for you. With a larger wallet, perhaps you will receive better treatment than I did. The red-haired owner of this store is probably the rudest retail store owner I have ever experienced. Of course, I wasn’t there to spend thousands of dollars. I simply went there to buy picks, strings, tab books, and to explore and discuss instruments with other music lovers. My initial visits were often greeted by cold, stiff, and awkward personalities. After multiple visits, I expected things would warm up, and while some staff were friendly, it was never a comfortable experience. This was especially true whenever the owner was present. Pompous and arrogant seem apt descriptions, and small talk and small wallets are beneath him.
7. Hometown Tap
Address: 4068 SW Hwy, Hometown, IL 60456 , Hometown , Illinois , United States
Love to go there u can win gifts and get free snacks while u play
Nice place
I always had a great time at Stella but the last time I was there the young lady passing out treats was kinda bias to me and my group. We were told the pop machine was down and one pack of cookies to each person. While there it was a gentleman that seems to have all the cookies and treats. I have not been back since and it use to be my favorite place when I didn’t feel like driving to the casinos.
Orderly, nice place to be. Great service. Could use more machines.
Depends on the worker its actually a cool Lil spot to chill
I visited a couple of times in the past few weeks. I like the visit since we’re in the middle of a pandemic and the place is small. However, I discovered when you’re in the bonus spins the machines still take from you. Therefore I can’t consider it a bonus.
Rigged a$$ machines! Don’t bother going there! It’s trash and machines don’t pay out! Save your money!
Over priced and tight slots. Customer service is zero.
9. Guitar Center
Address: 8250 S Cicero Ave, Burbank, IL 60459 , Hometown , Illinois , United States
I only go to Sam Ash for their selection of ESP guitars in which Guitar Center lacks. Years ago I had an LTD guitar with a Floyd Rose. Upon buying it, I was given EIGHT free set ups. I already knew how to set up my guitar on my own (though I’ve only been playing for two years about at the time) but I was lazy. The guy didn’t stretch my strings, didn’t intonate it, and didn’t adjust the springs. Not to mention he dropped the tip of the screwdriver he was using right on top of my guitar which gave it it’s first ding. Lately, there is a bearded man working there that knows his guitars but other than that, I avoid this place at all costs. Words of advice: HIRE STAFF THAT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING!
