Very helpful! Took extra time to help my daughter find the right mouth piece. Will definitely go back to Music Center of Hawaii for all our musical instrument needs!
Took my alto saxophone in for a couple of repairs. Thought I would have to leave it, but they took care of it right there on the spot and the price was very reasonable! The place is pretty small, but they had everything that I needed. Support local businesses, like this, that offer great customer service, even if it means going out of your way a little.
With a little time, this mom-and-pop shop fixed my saxophone at a reasonable price. I will return for my other instruments.
A great shop. Much to look at , temptation everywhere for a musician
Really great store.
Very friendly, very affordable!!
They don’t buy used instrument
I didnt know you can’t be laughed at cause you didn’t have enough cash on you … How low class can you be ….

Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Would highly recommend this place. I’ll definitely be back.
Nice staff, great selection and a cool vibe.
Was looking for a beginner’s ukulele. Bob Was very helpful. Heard that Jake Simabukuro, the ukulele master is good friends with The Good Guys music store. Very nice starter ukulele for $65. Worth while to check them out for all your string instrument needs
Great shop. Nice guys. A touch overpriced.
I liked the shop.
Parking can be a challenge. Decent selection of used gear.
Bought a pedal there while holidaying in Hawaii, it occurred to me the next day I should buy a good ol’ American pedal, instead of a Chinese pedal, ecspecially while in the states. The staff didnt feel the same, and seemed that it was a big deal to make an exchange. I wouldn’t go back.
If you plan on selling them a guitar understand they will only give you 50% of used retail price. Which means they will make 25% profit off you. While you lose 50% profit. Sell your own gear. 50% lose is too much
I am a repeat customer and always enjoyed the friendly service. I have bought several baritone ukuleles of various value and was always satisfied. However, today I spoke with Chris? And confirmed that I wanted to purchase the cheaper of the two that he said they have. At 4:30 pm I called him to let him know that I was on my way. He stated that they were filming inside the store but he would meet me outside and said “I got you” I thanked him. When I got there he informed me that he sold the ukulele!!! I was visibly bummed. He said that the customer had the ukulele in his hand and he didn’t want to tell him no. I asked if they still had the more expensive one ($500) nah was ($200) for real. He said yup, so I told him I would purchase it. I went to the ATM and even paid the additional fee because he said would be more convenient so I said sure. I got back just as he was coming from the back. Ukulele in hand, no case or box or receipt. He even threw in a tuner. I was stocked. In my excitement I tried to tune it as soon as i got to my car. Was having difficulties from the very start. Eventually even with the tuner. Really bummed. I ripped the strings right off the uke. Even burned the tuner with my altered torch. Luckily it was enough to destroy the tuner. If I am not able to get a replacement one, even if it’s cheaper one then I will be handling this matter between Chris and myself(Scott T Kurosu). I was very impressed by Chris’s quick response. I was able to go down the very next day and after hearing my feeliepairedengs about the situation he offered to replace my uke. However I would have to wait for the next delivery. I asked him if he could repair my uke, nothing fancy just as long as it works. He repaired it and also gave me $100 out of his own pocket. I am very grateful and happy. Thank you Chris Aloha & god bless

Great personal service. Got to support local businesses.
The workers were very friendly and helpful. I’ll go back to them for business and advice in the future! Great job overall!
Dan’s guitar it’s really Joe’s guitar if you want to get down to details which actually guitar Emily’s friend the one with the platinum hair is the one really a flute player Dan just happened to see you in the right place right time it’s now stands as guitar Dan’s they got it backwards
Went there to sell 15″Yamaha Speakers no can
A cozy small music/instrument store. Its somewhat limited in their selection. There’s no new Martin or Taylor guitars, but have other lesser known brands, which are nice too. The staff is friendly & attentive. A good place to start looking for used or new gear.
Highly recommend.
Went in here to get a new guitar so I could start leaning how to play. I decided on a preowned guitar. It was labeled and sold to me as a Fender Stratocaster. After my friend checked it out when they were visiting they discovered that it was actually a squire and worth a fraction of what I paid at the store. I brought it in to talk to a worker about it. I came in asking for it to be verified and if it is found to be a squire scam then I was going to ask for a refund. I explained my dilemma to the worker and was met with what seemed to be a smug attitude. He insisted that it was a genuine strat but said that he would have Dan, the store owner, give it a look. He also explained to me that this was part of a consignment sale which I was not notified at all in store. I came back after Dan had time to give it a look and he agreed with me that it was in fact a squire and whichever employee received it had failed to verify its quality. That employee was the one that sold it to me and the one I had spoken to prior. Dan had then offered to sell it as consignment for me, but that I wouldn’t be able to get near what I paid since it’s not worth that much, or he could give me store credit towards a replacement. I asked for a refund since this was a case of misadvertisement and nearly fraud. He denied this as it was a consignment sale, which I’ll reiterate that I wasn’t notified of that at time of sale. Contrary to his employee, Dan was understanding and I would say he is the only reason to go to the store. He’s obviously passionate about music and spreading that joy to others. I was looking for a fender Stratocaster since I was new and I knew little to nothing about guitars. He showed me a guitar that was at the value of the store credit. He said it was a Japan made Fender Stratocaster. I was grateful and given new breath to learn the instrument. After further inspection it turns out to be an ESP Grassroots. Once again, worth far less than what it was at the store. Now I am out a lot of money and no longer have an interest in learning music. I would prefer to have my money back bur considering how I was treated it seems like scams go over better than legitimacy in the overall of this shop. I hope it gets better.
I walked in and asked for a bass tuner. I’m not the most experienced musician. He told me that it doesn’t matter if it’s a bass tuner or a general tuner. Turns out, it very much does matter, and I am now out $20. They will get you in and out quick, but make sure you know your stuff before you walk in or they will take advantage.
Had two patch cables made for 40 bucks while I was here/on the road playing. I’m not sure what was wrong with them but when used on my board my volume was cut in half and none of drive pedals worked properly. I’ve been playing professionally full time for two years and part time for 12. This was discovered that night at the gig in front of 500 people. I called and no answer. Left a message no call back. Messaged on facebook no message back. Emailed no email back. Avoid.
8. Ukulele Store
Address: 226 Lewers St #218, Honolulu, HI 96815 , Honolulu , Hawaii , United States
The guy that runs this shop really knows his ukulele. He was super helpful recommending things to try and was just generally great to chat with about ukulele things and some history of ukes in Hawaii.
Tried many instruments. They have a great range of instruments from beginner and inexpensive to the nicest, most costly ukes available.
Definitely check it out!
Friendly and knowledgeable staff
Nice ukulele store, with something for every taste and pocket
Wide selection of ukuleles-different styles and colors, different sizes (eg kids, soprano, tenor, baritone, concert and other sizes) and can also get music books.
Very friendly. Got starter kit. Have free lesson
하와이 우쿠렐레 자체가 소리가다름
메이드인치나는어딜가나ㅠㅠ
They sell me a second hand CD with vinyl price and say this is final sale
Wow! Beautiful store and worst customer service of all time, probably of my life! So much so I had to write my first negative neview ever! I’m a pianist and shopped for some of the nicest pianos and never receive condescending attitude from any piano or music store for that matter! If this store is trying to embody the ukelele spirit then you would thing its an intrusment reserved for rich snob collector or virtuoso (no in between). The clerk was so rude, not just to us but everyone it’s actually astonishing he has a job! I bought the ukalele because I didn’t have time to look for another store but if you do have time please LOOK for another store…with people that are cool and respect your passion, interest, etc.. for this beautiful instrument!
Dropped in for the free ukulele lesson, but it being free is the only reason I give this store 2 stars. Clerk was very rude throughout the lesson. I asked two simple questions about how to hold a ukulele and he got annoyed and told me “if this were a violin lesson you would be crying”. Well, it was not a violin lesson, nor was I even remotely complaining. I’m simply a guitarist that had a bit of difficulty figuring out how to hold a smaller instrument.
Treat customers with more respect and this would be a great little store.
9. KoAloha ʻUkulele
Address: 〒96814 Hawaii, Honolulu, Kona St , Honolulu , Hawaii , United States
All my friends and family love Koaloha Ukulele & its staff there!! Pops & mama and everyone is so sweet!! Awesome!!!!
Thank you so much for helping me choose a ukulele that suits my style and personality! I loved learning about the passion and mastery it takes to produce the best sound from one musical instrument on the free tour, and my ukulele looks beautiful! Thanks so much again for the kind service and chat, this was definitely a highlight of my Hawaii holiday experience!
Unfortunately I couldn’t find my ukulele there. There wasn’t that much choice, but I believe it’s mostly because they are exporting ukuleles. Still I have the feeling that they don’t want to sell. I had to ask for a demo.
突然訪問したが商品説明など対応していただき感謝しています。
Perchased a $1100+ KoAloha Koa at Music Exchange at the Big Island in July 2019 and am very very disappointed. It always go out of tune even during use. I tune in before use and while playing, it goes out of tune. I waited to write this review as I was hoping that it gets better hoping the strings are just adjusting…no avail. It appears that the tuners do not fit well and loose. I have two much cheaper mahogany ukuleles, $89 and $295. The $295 does not get out of tune and sounds just about the same as this expensive KoAloha. Hoping to hear from the company as to what they can do about it.
economy mentality moved into family product. They outsourced parts of the productions. Now Koaloha produces in Thailand. not all expensive koaloha ukuleles are original made in hawaii. And thats my fault, i linked that brand to hawaii, therefore i bought an ORIGINAL! KOALOHA ukulele, and after receiving i learned
it was made in thailand.
OK product but terrible customer service. Never replied to any of my emails or calls. Some defects on the guilele but I didn’t notice it when I bought it so that’s kinda my fault.

Friendly and knowledgable staff. Great selection of high quality instruments.
Great selection of ukes and accessories with friendly staff.
Unfortunately I didn’t find my ukulele here, but the stuff was very nice and they really tried to help me finding it. I just think that my ukulele wasn’t there.

Fred Kamaka and sons give a history and full tour of their long running ukulele factory. Tour is free and totally worth it!
Recently had a great pleasure working with Tony, Fred Jr, and Eric. They were very polite, helpful and knowledgeable. Kamaka Hawaii has a great history, and I strongly recommend here if anyone is interested in purchasing an ukulele. Thank you Kamaka Hawai!!!
I don’t know much about making Koa Ukuleles , but I can recognize Craftsmanship when I see it and these Kamaka are by far some of the best. I would highly recommend anybody take the tour before tours are no longer available
Un lugar con ukeleles preciosos tanto en diseño como en sonoridada pero muy caros y con una lista de espera muy larga
I brought my ukulele for repairs and it will possibly be months to get it back due to a repair backlog so I can’t comment on that. While there, we were offered a tour. Mr. Fred Kamaka, at 93, presented a lively history of ukulele and the Kamaka brand (in it’s 102nd year!). His son followed with a tour of the factory while explaining techniques and showing us samples of each part of the instrument. Not only was the 1 1/2 hour tour well done, but it was free! I highly recommend a visit!

I rescued a beautiful Ukulele from a friend’s garage, unfortunately, the gears were broken and none of the music shops or guitar repair shops near me could help. I was about to give up when my wife suggested I contact the company, so I sent the a chat from the Leolani website asking for help. It was late Sunday afternoon so I was startled to see a response IMMEDIATELY! I chatted with Keli’i and sent photos and she offered to send me some parts even though that’s not a normal business practice. The next day I received an email with a tracking number. This is beyond doubt one of my best customer service experiences ever, I am truly overjoyed!!!

Awesome selection of ukes and the owner was extremely nice and helpful.
Went above and beyond in service and great deal on ukulele. I visited most ukulele shops in Honolulu and this is now my go to!
No longer a storefront. Made it upstairs to annoffice.space.with same.name.but was closed. Maybe they do by appt. Only lessons? Not sure. I wish them well and home they will reopen elsewhere.
Went there at 11:30 am on a Thursday, says it open from 10 am, but there was no one there. Walked 2 miles for nothing
14. ʻUkulele Puapua
Address: 2255 Kalākaua Ave #13, Honolulu, HI 96815 , Honolulu , Hawaii , United States
The staff are knowlegable and helpful, but the location is small and it’s difficult to move around if you have extra bags or you’re not going in by yourself. The shop is just within the entrance of the Sheraton hotel and it’s a busy area, making it tough to hear the ukes as you play them. (This is a big minus if you’re planning to drop $1k or more on an instrument.)
I must also relate a particularly bad experience I had. When I visited the store around 5pm on a Monday evening, there was a Japanese television production taking place in the store and I couldn’t get in. This was inconvenient for me as I had visited the store the previous day to look at their instruments and I was returning to make my purchase.
It must be said that there was no signage to indicate the temporary closure during the production, and there was no sign or notice on the previous day when I first visited. (I would have planned accordingly with proper notice.) I would have walked right in, but one of the TV handlers stopped me at the door. I don’t know how long the store was closed, but I was outside at least 10 minutes before I asked the handler and he expected the production to take an additional hour or more.
If you shop here I’d recommend checking The Ukulele Store nearby as well. They have almost as much selection (probably 85 or 90% as many instruments) and they carry other items. There’s space to move around and sit if you like, and best of all it’s q-u-i-e-t. You can really hear the ukes when you play them.
The girl was nice and helpful. The other guy absolutely indifferent to the customer. Decent choice of ukuleles but they are not knowledgeable – or at least not willing to help you.

Small be excellent store. Fantastic selection on high-end ukes.
Very helpful staff. Definitely worth checking out.
A huge selection of ukes in all price ranges. Many models from Hawaii’s renowned “Four K” ukulele makers. The owners are very friendly and knowledgeable, and they take the time to explain the details about the instruments. The place to buy a ukulele in Honolulu.
Great service and a great selection!

Saw my dream Cornerstone ukulele on their website and couldn’t wait to see it in person. The owner (Shawn) went out of his way to meet me over the weekend and gave me all the time necessary to evaluate the instrument. I felt very welcome and flew back home with my dream ukulele the next day. While I had my mind set on this particular ukulele this place has many custom and one of a kind instruments from the best luthiers in the world. An amazing experience to see and enjoy these instruments first hand.
Saw this place in the Hawaiian Airlines in-flight magazine, Hana Hou Magazine and had to check it out. The showroom is amazing! Very classy feel with some of the best full custom ukuleles in the world and from builders that I never even knew existed. Professional and friendly service and if you’re in to vintage ukes, this place is better than most museums…
18. Kamehameha ukulele
Address: In Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort &Spa, 2552 Kalākaua Ave K120, Honolulu, HI 96815 , Honolulu , Hawaii , United States
I’m staying at the Imperial and dropped-in to check out the ukuleles. The nice guy tending the shop tuned a few for me so I can try them out. They have a wide selection based on skill levels. He said the priced ranged from $80-$1k. He was knowledgeable on the wood types and craftsmanship. He didn’t try to up sell-me. Overall a positive experience.
Bought a KS-56 EQ model here a few months ago and have been enjoying the ukulele ever since! The sound is very nice, and it even inspired two of my friends to purchase ukuleles after hearing mine.
While I was shopping, the employee let me try any ukulele I was interested in, and even demoed them too as I was still learning. He was patient and listened to all of my questions and answered everyone.
They even shipped the Ukulele to me and it arrived in pristine condition. I believe, the shop only carries Kamehameha ukuleles and it’s higher quality sister brand Kanile’a ukuleles, but it has a wide variety of prices.
I really love this ukulele and would recommend it to anyone!
Sales people are nice, but the owner was rude. I’m a player and I need to play an ukulele before I buy it, he told me he’d prefer if I didn’t play the ukuleles unless I intended on buying them, which btw was my intention.
But you need to try an instrument before you decide to buy. He was very cold and calluse.
Because of this, he lost my business. Too bad, because when I first walked into the store that evening, I was 90% sure I was going to buy the model I was looking at. ♂️
We stopped in to buy a ukulele for our granddaughter and the man working couldn’t tear himself away from his computer screen to be helpful at all! We came in with the intention of purchasing, but left empty handed!
Went in to pick up an instrument for my son. This is at the Hilton village location. The guy “working” behind the counter couldn’t peel himself away from YouTube long enough to look up and say hi. Came back in the next day hoping for someone new working. The same guy was there and he was rude again so we left.
