Small but nice musical instrument store. Guy was nice.
Owner is down to earth
I live in Ohio and bought a guitar for my son who lives in Honolulu. Did the whole transaction over the phone. Ron was fantastic! The guitar is great, my son loves it, and Ron made an unusual process easy. Thank you fur your Aloha Ron!

Kewl place. Buy local.
3. Sonny D ʻUkuleles
Address: 94-164 Awalau St C, Waipahu, HI 96797 , Iroquois Point , Hawaii , United States
I wandered into his shop many years ago. Late 80’s. I was playing my little old Kamaka to lead worship at Sunday school with the kids. I told Sonny that, and he went in the back and talked to his wife. Being that they are both Christians too. They agreed to sell me an 8 string and put a pickup in it for me, and a case too. At a serious discount. It is the most beautiful sound when played alongside guitars. I love this ukulele. It my most precious instrument. Mahalo Sonny D, and Mrs. I grow happier every day I play your 8 string. Ever since that memorable day met your wife and you.
Love going there I learn a lot about ukuleles from him. His instruments are beautiful as we as beautiful sounding.
Repaired my ukulele’s with care and quality, pricing was always reasonable. And done in a timely manner. I will never take my Kamaka’s to the Kamaka store again! And when my moopuna’s are ready for their own uku’s their first will be a Sonny D ukulele!
, I’m not sure why but the quality isn’t as good as it used to be I have several Sonny D ukulele I want to go buy a new one but I couldn’t find one that was a very good quality the price was more expensive then the ones I bought before but the quality was definitely lacking . Ended up with a kamaka…
I’ve been in this store twice so far and both times have been great. First time, I sat to play around with the keyboard/piano a little bit for fun, they don’t have weighted keys so it’s not in my range I’m looking for but the lady who came to show me the keyboard was so nice and supportive. I came in later to look at the very cool guitar they had and played around with it/inspected it. I was helped by the other shop owner and he spent time to show me the different models and improvements they’ve got, I became very interested in their products from there. At this point, I’ve done a little bit of research through a good number of other products on their YouTube and Website and I’ve gotta say, they have a lot of decent quality products for really fair prices. I bet that’s why people have such positive reviews of them. I hope I’ll be seeing more of them as time goes on, they’re very good from what I can tell so far!
My dad and I came in this afternoon to pick up a couples ukuleles while on vacation. Anthony was so knowledgeable and helpful in helping us pick out the perfect instruments that fit both our price range and aesthetics. He was very kind and didn’t pressure us in the slightest and really made it a great and memorable experience. 100/10 recommend coming here!!!
Hands down the best finger picks I’ve found, and I have a huge collection! I’ll be back!
Would never recommend this place to anyone. The guy that works there made me feel so offended.
Bought the ” toy” violin for Christmas which was advertised as high quality. Cost me $40. It was awful. Couldnt play a single note on it. The bow is complete garbage and the resin was as hard as a rock so it couldn’t be used with the plastic bow strings provided.
Be careful. They have a fickle return policy and they replaced my strings with the wrong ones. I didn’t know my uke could sound bad until it left Kalena. My fiance took it there as a gift to be restrung and you were also rude to her and said that 14 days means less than 2 weeks. You being a musician shop is suspicious. I don’t think you should replace strings if you don’t know how to do it
When my family and I visited Hawaii last winter, we saw Pacific Ukulele store at the stadium. We bought one concert ukulele there and we brought it back home. My only regret is that we could not get a lasered one due to us leaving Hawaii. However, I just noticed that they had a website and I ordered a customized option. It arrived from Hawaii in 2 days! I also asked and received a coupon as a returning customer. I recommend this store to any ukulele lovers, also, don’t be afraid to message and ask for coupons, the owner is awesome.
I got two custom laser engraved ukulele’s for my sons. The owner was helpful when I was deciding what fonts to use. They showed me drafts of the design before engraving. Glad to see a local ukulele business.
I was surprised of the quality for the tenor uke that I got. The owner was very pleasant and even gave me a discount. Highly recommend!
11. Guitar Center
Address: 1000 Kamehameha Hwy Suite 200, Pearl City, HI 96782 , Iroquois Point , Hawaii , United States
Poor customer service… instead of trying to help, told to speak to manufacturer on missing item in box. They apparently don’t want to help or stand by a product that they sell, even though I paid extra for warranty.
Tried to buy a ukulele and they tried to sell it without the case that was supposed to come with it. When I asked about the case, they couldn’t find it. Will take my money elsewhere from now on.
0-2 on purchases at this store. Not a good first impression.
Edited my post….
I was a bit harsh…I still stand by the rating. Guitar Center’s CEO should be ashamed of their inventory system….
Bought books as a gift, but they ended up being duplicates so I needed to return them. They are brand new with no creases, and even with the receipt they wouldn’t take the return. Not even for a store credit. I’ve never had an issue with guitar center until today. Better off just buying stuff from Amazon if you think you may have to return it.
12. Redbox
Address: 6882 Cormorant Ave, Ewa Beach, HI 96706 , Iroquois Point , Hawaii , United States
Best music store on Oahu. Everyone is so helpful and they have the best inventory and cheapest prices.
(Special shout out to Ted!)
Friendly staff. They helped me quickly, and have me great advice on what I needed to make sure my new home studio would be ready to go.
Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and local!
The place has great stuff and variety of music equipments.
I had the pleasure of purchasing a guitar online from the wonderful team at Easy Music Center. Ordering a high quality instrument online can be uncertain and unnerving. They answered my questions readily and kindly, followed up with me promptly, and provided me with a buying experience that assured me this was a safe option for an expensive purchase, which showed up shortly thereafter at my home all the way in Florida. This is a special shop and I recommend it enthusiastically to my fellow musicians.

No violin stuff, but other than that pretty well stocked music store.
Bought a seinnheiser wireless mic system from them with a already open box but was told it’s brand new. The transmitter battery doesn’t even last 20 minutes and dies. Was told I cannot return it because box was already opened. Monkey business. Stay away. I’m glad guitar center is coming to Hawaii.
Very uncomfortable shopping there I guess I wasn’t somebody famous so they need help we have a pocket full of cash I wanted to spend unfortunately the staff was lame so I didn’t spend my cash there. I ended up at Hot Licks and spent about 2 Grand don’t judge a book by its cover
Save your time and money. Faka’s couldn’t wait a minute for me to get to the store for a store pickup. Go to Sweetwater instead!
Best music equipment store in the island. Wide variety of products and very knowledgeable staff.
Excellent. Knowledgeable customer service with aloha.
Awesome store, Awesome Staff.
Great shop. Nice guys. A touch overpriced.
A lot of options available
Helpful staff but mostly cheaper instruments.
If you plan on selling them a guitar understand they will only give you 50% of used retail price. Which means they will make 25% profit off you. While you lose 50% profit. Sell your own gear. 50% lose is too much
I am a repeat customer and always enjoyed the friendly service. I have bought several baritone ukuleles of various value and was always satisfied. However, today I spoke with Chris? And confirmed that I wanted to purchase the cheaper of the two that he said they have. At 4:30 pm I called him to let him know that I was on my way. He stated that they were filming inside the store but he would meet me outside and said “I got you” I thanked him. When I got there he informed me that he sold the ukulele!!! I was visibly bummed. He said that the customer had the ukulele in his hand and he didn’t want to tell him no. I asked if they still had the more expensive one ($500) nah was ($200) for real. He said yup, so I told him I would purchase it. I went to the ATM and even paid the additional fee because he said would be more convenient so I said sure. I got back just as he was coming from the back. Ukulele in hand, no case or box or receipt. He even threw in a tuner. I was stocked. In my excitement I tried to tune it as soon as i got to my car. Was having difficulties from the very start. Eventually even with the tuner. Really bummed. I ripped the strings right off the uke. Even burned the tuner with my altered torch. Luckily it was enough to destroy the tuner. If I am not able to get a replacement one, even if it’s cheaper one then I will be handling this matter between Chris and myself(Scott T Kurosu). I was very impressed by Chris’s quick response. I was able to go down the very next day and after hearing my feeliepairedengs about the situation he offered to replace my uke. However I would have to wait for the next delivery. I asked him if he could repair my uke, nothing fancy just as long as it works. He repaired it and also gave me $100 out of his own pocket. I am very grateful and happy. Thank you Chris Aloha & god bless
Very unhelpful. Asked what ibwas looking for, didnt even look at me. I was looking for hand percussion, drums. Was told he only had egg shakers. There was a drum in the window, and two in front of me. I just figured maybe they weren’t for sell.
16. HiFishGear (Ewa Beach Buy & Sell)
Address: 91-775 Papipi Rd, Ewa Beach, HI 96706 , Iroquois Point , Hawaii , United States
This is a super nice little fishing shop. The guys at work in it are very very knowledgeable. I got a lot of advice. I got some excellent options. I really thought they knew what they were talking about. Also, the prices are pretty reasonable..
I went in here expecting to spend a few hundred dollars on gear to try to catch a fish or two while I was in Ewa Beach on vacation. The guys here were extremely friendly and helpful. They got me set up with a pole and all of the necessary tackle for about $100 and gave me a ton of helpful advice. I couldn’t have been more satisfied.
Really nice place, everything is displayed in order, not just piled on each other, staff is very helpful, has a lot of fishing supplies, save time n money, with no long lines, also a lot of brand new fishing reels n poles, this is my go to when I need fishing supplies, tools, n odd n ends, check it out, you’ll see.
i dunno but buggah get on mark up of $20 dollars as compared to prices at Ace hardware….. AUWE!

17. Music Center of Hawaii Inc
Address: 2347 S Beretania St. #200, Honolulu, HI 96826 , Iroquois Point , Hawaii , United States
Friendly. Reasonable renting. Grandson renting a violin for the month
We had such a great experience here and will definitely be coming back again. The staff was very kind, honest, helpful and super knowledgeable in getting our son resized for a new Viola. I’m beyond impressed with the service they provided.
My ohana was treated so well here in August. I just wanted to write how much we appreciated this store and how helpful everyone was towards us! My daughter was able to receive so much information and knowledge from the awesome owner and staff. Prices are quite reasonable! I sure enjoyed seeing all their beautiful instruments!
Too far.
Always has what I’m looking for
Very friendly, very affordable!!
I didnt know you can’t be laughed at cause you didn’t have enough cash on you … How low class can you be ….
They don’t buy used instrument
18. Keiki Kani Music Studio
Address: 99-850 Halawa Dr, Aiea, HI 96701 , Iroquois Point , Hawaii , United States
The Keiki Kani staff strike the balance of being very caring, and supportive, yet professional. I’ve never thought of myself as being much of a singer, but they have been able to really get me started an a whole new adventure through voice training. Mahalo, Camilla and staff!
19. Inspiration Studios
Address: 94-832 Kaaholo St, Waipahu, HI 96797 , Iroquois Point , Hawaii , United States
Inspiration Studious has been a huge blessing in our lives! My 4 children ages 7-14 have been taking lessons for a few years in voice, ukulele, and piano. This is something we could never teach them as we are not musically inclined. Malama does a wonderful job in raising up musical warriors for the Lord! If you are looking for someone to teach music to your children in a God centered, loving, and grace filled environment, look no further!
Malama, you are truly a blessing! Your teaching and encouragement provide a positive environment for all. We recently moved to the mainland and decided to continue our lessons with Inspiration Studios. It was easy transitioning to online lessons. It has been a blessing for me and my child. We look forward to seeing you each week. Sincere gratitude to Inspiration Studios.
My daughter has been taking voice lessons with Inspiration Studios for several years, and we love it here! Malama does a wonderful job teaching her how to utilize her voice to its fullest potential. Not only does my daughter grow in her ability to sing, she also grows closer to the Lord as a result of learning scriptures and worship songs. I strongly recommend this studio for anyone looking for a place to grow musically and spiritually.
20. Kamaka Hawai‘i, Inc.
Address: 550 South St, Honolulu, HI 96813 , Iroquois Point , Hawaii , United States
What a great tour! First, Uncle Fred (the son of the founder) gave us a history of the ukulele and Kamaka. He is an engaging speaker and passionate about his life’s work. After that, his son Fred Jr. walked us through the shop from raw Koa to finished ukuleles. He describe techniques and technology and answered all of our questions. All of the staff was friendly and didn’t seem to mind us coming in and taking pictures. It was fun to see where these legendary instruments come to life. Highly recommended.
History for any Hawaiian ukulele player. Really small old school shop and builder. Amazing tone!
They were there from the beginning and they are still going strong. You will know the history of ukulele. I highly recommend Kamaka Ukulele for those who want to have a uke to pass down from generation to generation. Plenty famous ukulele players use a kamaka ukulele.
995달러부터 주문제작만 받더라구요. 투어는 월~금 오전만, 주말은 쉬구요..
Un lugar con ukeleles preciosos tanto en diseño como en sonoridada pero muy caros y con una lista de espera muy larga
I brought my ukulele for repairs and it will possibly be months to get it back due to a repair backlog so I can’t comment on that. While there, we were offered a tour. Mr. Fred Kamaka, at 93, presented a lively history of ukulele and the Kamaka brand (in it’s 102nd year!). His son followed with a tour of the factory while explaining techniques and showing us samples of each part of the instrument. Not only was the 1 1/2 hour tour well done, but it was free! I highly recommend a visit!
