A unique boutique/guitar store with helpful, curtious and knowledgeable owners.
They had a tuner/pedal I was looking for at a great price, in & out, done.
Awesome place and really cool owners!! They have quality goods!
Was looking for a VHS player for some old tapes I found. Darryl went through his equipment and found me just what I needed. Great Experience and I will definitely be back and recommend this place to anyone.
2. Gray Dog Music
Address: 231 N Cortez St, Prescott, AZ 86301 , Prescott , Arizona , United States
The staff there are awesome and can help with most guitar needs.
It’s a nice store with a fun selection in a variety of price ranges but I wanted to buy a guitar and no one would talk to me, even when I stood at the register for a few minutes or asked for help I was ignored. I ended up going elsewhere.
Its a nice store really small some prices are expensive but overall good store nice customer service
Owner operator was extremely helpful to blind customer I was chauffeuring
It’s a nice store. But they only sell guitars and related supplies. The pedal selection was weak if I was looking for pedals I would go online. Pretty much zero music scene in Prescott anymore. They cater to trendoids in my opinion. The selection was a huge bummer for me nothing but acoustic guitars.
Gray Dog music is only good for when you need something in an emergency, otherwise there’s no point is paying those prices. Prices that you only realize are so high when you get all the way to the register since almost nothing in the store has a clearly marked price on it. You have to individually inquire for every item… Even there used equipment was priced similarly to buying it brand new elsewhere. To top it off the gentleman working the counter actually got short with me because I kept having to ask what all there stuff cost. Horrible experience would not recommend to my worst enemy.
Parking: The parking is the ONLY good thing about Grey Dog Music.
3. Daniel’s Guitar And Coin Shop
Address: 605 White Spar Rd, Prescott, AZ 86303 , Prescott , Arizona , United States
Dropped my guitar while playing and it landed on the cable plugged into the jack which bent both the cable and the receptacle inside the guitar. Figuring I’d have to drop it off for a couple of days, made due for worship service at church to take it in Monday. To my much appreciated surprise, Daniel fixed it in 10 minutes and at a great price. As his slogan says, “he’s my guitar guy” from now on.
Highly recommend.
Great job on setting up my acoustics
My “go-to” for all my guitar needs. Fixed a couple of my guitars. I’ve sold some there and bought some there. Friendly and knowledgeable…fair pricing…
4. Chris Fleming Guitars
Address: 227 N Cortez St, Prescott, AZ 86301 , Prescott , Arizona , United States
Very happy with R Taylor set up and Breedlove install of pickup with set up. Have been frustrated with other Technicians, but the experience and technical ability of Chris and assistant are top notch. Will definitely use for any future guitar issues.
Chris setup two guitars for me, both had some issues that I felt needed attention. After picking them up and playing with them I could tell instantly that Chris had performed some black magic that turned my guitars into absolutely beautiful feeling and sounding instruments. Chris is also a tally cool guy, I would highly suggest his shop for all guitar repairs. I know my friends and I will bring ours here.
Top notch work! Knows his guitars, cares about yours as if it was his, and stands by his work. His passion is evident. Great guitar shop!
5. The Blue Note
Address: 3250 Gateway Blvd #262, Prescott, AZ 86303 , Prescott , Arizona , United States
Rick is great, trusted by everyone, a former performing musician and respected. Clearly my go-to person!
The owner has great knowledge, and worked on my wife’s guitar while we waited.
This is such a wonderful music store. The staff are amazing and the selection is fabulous!
The owner is a pretty cool guy. Very knowledgeable on everything in the store. He has also made guitars for some of the biggest names in music history.
Listed as open on Monday. Drove from Spring Valley to find them closed. Need to correct this.
The owner of this establishment is beyond rude, he didn’t answer any questions (which I believe is because he has 0 knowledge of anything pertaining to his little business) and he over prices everything. I understand it’s a local business so prices will be higher but his USED banged up instruments are at least 70% higher than anywhere else for the same NEW instruments which is unreasonable.
I’ll be shopping at a honest local music shop.
Thank You
I got my haircut with Keith, I’ve been going to founding fathers since before they moved to the new location, excellent service and atmosphere every time. I don’t go anywhere else!
Amazing gathering venue for business, family or friends. Fantastic coffee and beer. There is also a gym that is welcoming for beginners and advanced athletes. BTW on point barbershop too! What a way to share the best moments of you life.
My new favorite place. I love the cafe latte cubano style here. Even got my hair cut here and joined their gym. Great place and excellent people
The beer selection is fantastic! I was able to try several different beers and cidars. The atmosphere is nice and the employees are very helpful!
Good latte coffee
I’ve only experienced the beer part of this place. The decor is has a nice vintage/industrial vibe, even in the restroom. There are a lot of nice touches, but the taproom feels like an afterthought. The selection is great and there is outdoor seating. They even have fire pits outside. The inside around the taps is crowded. It is an L-shape space that they have stuffed as many tables as possible around. The ambience of the other parts of the building is missing here. What I really don’t like is that they take your credit card and have it sitting in a box on the counter where anyone can snatch it. I’m guessing the guy working the register forgot to put it away? I found the prices to be fair for the quality of the beer. Not sure if this will be a regular hang spot, but I would probably bring visitors by.
OVER PRICED AND DUDE WITH THE GRIZZLY BEARD DOESN’T KNOW HOW TO DO A FADE. OR HE JUST DONT GIVE A DAM WHAT HIS WORK LOOKS LIKE.
Hi, I had an incredibly terrible experience and can honestly say I’ve never felt anything remotely close to how I felt during my first ever haircut at this establishment. I believe my barbers name was Adam but anyways, he made me feel uncomfortable from the start. Immediately informed that I had to choose skin fade and pay an extra 10 dollars for a basic clipper low fade, because somehow that’s a “technical fade”, which I didn’t mind but was still argued with it for way too long. After some light conversation I casually mentioned that’s how I got my hair cut back when I was in prison years ago. Immediately I felt a change in attitude and his demeanor completely changed and made me feel really uncomfortable and self-conscious over a simple statement . I didn’t expand on anything , literally just said that was how I had my hair done years ago in that establishment . Then, after already feeling uncomfortable with his attitude, he went to remove my cape and said” hey, should I watch out for any shanks that might fall out.” It absolutely was the most inconsiderate and baffling thing anybody could ever say to someone and it was honestly so rude I was shocked and didn’t know what else to say. I couldn’t wait for the haircut to be done so I could leave that toxic environment. It sucks that I look forward once a month to getting my haircut only for it to be a terrible experience and making my day worse than it already unfortunately was. It’s absolutely insane I had to pay 30 dollars for the worst experience I’ve ever had getting a cut.
Had a very disappointing experience with the owner!would never recommend this place to anyone!!
8. PRESCOTT VALLEY MUSIC – PV MUSIC
Address: 8561 Florentine Rd suite a, Prescott Valley, AZ 86314 , Prescott , Arizona , United States
These guys really take the time to make sure you don’t just walk away with an instrument, but understand it. Their work on refurbishing instruments is top of the line. Truly great people!
Did an amazing job setting up my 7-string plays smooth and sounds amazing definitely coming back
AMAZING place. A bit small, but my man is very helpful.
Russel’s great. Made me a great deal on a guitar and lowered the action on it and did a GREAT job of that too!
Also, gave me a very nice deal on a guitar case.
If you need any modifications made on your guitar and such this is your guy -thanks Russel!
Went there with a friend.
I stopped by Prescott Valley Music looking for someone to repair my flute. Even though they specialize in guitar repair, he fixed my flute within minutes at no charge. I will definitely go back with my guitar needs.
I think all they sell is USED. Even patch cords. 🙁 Totally disgusting and disappointed.
Don’t buy vinyl from them
Sadly, and most regrettably, I must report that Russell, the proprietor of PVM, used his prior good business standing to consign, endorse, solicit, directly accept partial payment for, a fraudulently, utterly misrepresented $3k instrument, that is so INTENTIONALLY damaged (a 40” gong, sawn into THREE parts, then poorly soldered back together) that it is basically rendered useless as a musical instrument. He also personally/professionally arranged for its delivery and attested to the instrument’s ‘excellent’ condition (all in email and voicemails, still retained as evidence).
Initially responsive, and seemingly aghast, he and the seller he worked with, and as agent for, now decline to correspond or address this, each saying neither or the other is responsible.
A $3k scam?????
BEWARE!!
9. Soundroom
Address: 3050 N Windsong Dr Suite#103, Prescott Valley, AZ 86314 , Prescott , Arizona , United States
We got a great price on an electric acoustic guitar… Owner Jay very helpful. Able to get what we needed at one location
Great store… decent prices. Went in for a used classical guitar and came out with a nice one. Came with case even. Added an American -made humidifier, works well. Smaller place, but has the important things. Recommend highly
It’s okay place kind of small
It’s okay , inside the Mall , didn’t have what I was looking for .
Sux
So, I went here for the first time and the girl behind the counter was NO help. She was too busy to get up and show me where the item I was looking for was. I will not be going back.
Burned by this store over a Reverb purchase. I paid $450 total for a mini french horn they advertised as in “excellent” condition. When I recieved the horn I started noticing that the 3rd valve doesn’t close and open all the way disrupting airflow when pressing and depressing. Even after oiling the valve, there was no change. This horn is non-functional to a player. 1st the store decieded to deny any return or exchange to address the issue immediately. Then I tried to contact Reverb customer care and tried demonstrating this in a video to them. Both the seller and Reverb responded with a guilty until proven innocent skepticism that left me stuck with an unplayable horn. It took a lot of hassle and time away from normal living dealing with both of them. I would advise anyone not to buy a brass or woodwind instrument from this store unless you can inspect it first. Either they don’t play the instrument themselve, or they knowingly sold an unplayable instrument not caring.
I have played horn (F horn) semi-professionally for over 22 years in wind bands, orchestras, and jazz ensembles. I also have extensive knowlege of major brands and makers and designs of horns and am qualified to advise other players.
