Just a standard guitar center. Staff is helpful and prices are fine. Don’t forget they’ll price match if you ask.
Yes they are still open and not going anywhere.
I’ve gone here for different things. The store is ok, the staff are friendly and helpful. The bass section leaves something to be desired.
Yeah act like they didn’t want to wait on me
I had a bad customer service experience here so I won’t be giving them my money today. Sweetwater has the same products but won’t treat you like trash
I ordered a new drum kit with all the pieces needed to be stage ready. 7k worth of gear. Original order on October 29th. First the store manager sends the gear all to the Illinois store, forcing me to pay higher taxes, to then ship to me in Indiana which was delayed. No big deal. Since November 10th I have been calling about the PA speaker stands. I have called once a week at minimum to waste 20 minutes on the phone with someone who can’t help me and says “Dan will call you” January 4th and I’m still waiting for that call. The time I’ve spent on the phone isn’t worth the ordeal. If I could return the entire kit and go through sweet water I would. I called the help line, who I spent another 20 minutes on the phone with, who transferred me back to the same person I had talked to just before. I have no clue if I’m ever getting the stands and after this long I’m honestly just going to buy some somewhere else. Guitar center has changed. Buying online is the future.
Jake was extremely patient with Me as I placed my order for a violin.
The best on the south side for lessons, instrument purchases, and repair. Friendly and professional service. Great music shops are becoming hard to find. Love it
Always good service
Very nice, good pricing and repairs done in a very timely fashion.
Great neighborhood repair shop.
Was and wasn’t very helpful. But I did receive the necessary information that I needed to move forward.
I’M ADDING THIS FOR THE STORE TO RESPOND: THERE’S NO INDICATION THAT HOURS ARE “BY APPOINTMENT ONLY” UNTIL YOU DRIVE ACROSS TOWN. PLEASE FIX THIS. THANK YOU
Never got a call back. Guess they don’t want my money for repairing a clarinet v
I have been taking lessons from Keith for the past year. I’m learning a lot and having so much fun. I just bought a Fender Stratocaster and it sounds excellent! I look forward to going their each week.
Very professional, kind and attentive employees, even better environment. Great higher end shop with some beginner/affordable guitars/basses/etc as well. Prices align perfectly with what you buy hands down, instruments are treated with great care before leaving in your hands.
Have purchased multiple instruments from Midlothian Music over the years. In stock, special orders or just doing research about what gear you’re in the market for. The staff never pressures but will cycle through as few or as many products as you ask to see, while trying to dial in the right instrument for you. Keyboards, guitars, Amps, violins, setups and new strings. We’ve bought a good deal and have never had a bad experience. Also coming at you is decades of experience and industry knowledge on what brands they carry and why. If you’re in the area and in the market for an instrument, this place is the best choice.
I love all the products but at times the service was bad, other visits there were good service. Thanks!
Tried calling about some ukulele strings and the phone guy was so rude. Never has a music store been so uncouth. Shame on this store.
Disgusted with this place. Both my daugther & grandson came home from their lesson in tears because the piano instructor insulted them & was very mean to my grandson who is only in Kindergarten, all because he couldn’t play a song he had just started learning in perfect rhythm. Zero patience & absolutely no method of teaching other than pressuring a poor child & yelling at him to not take his hands off the piano until he tells him to. They were not refunded their money nor were they able to switch piano teachers. DO NOT TAKE LESSONS FROM DAVE! DO NOT GO HERE PERIOD!
Music store with strict rules, can’t play anything without 10 min max rule, and I couldn’t even play through an amp they had on the floor. The associate plug me into some floor monitor to hear what the guitar sounded like. Felt uncomfortable in the store the entire time. Not sure who this store is designed for but surely not me.

Life saver, always. Best guys. They stayed late just to finish press in hub Bearing and only charged 40, and wouldn’t accept a tip. Good guys .
Machine shop lo mejor.
Pleasant, knowledgeable, and to the point!!
I thought I needed a coil And a spring welded together but I didn’t. I appreciated the fact that someone answered the phone and they were not to open for 2 hours from the time of my call. Kudos from me.
Cold customer service
I appreciate them being in the community for the years their hours are great but I pick up a certain vibe while there by the owner.
Terrible customer service. They don’t greet you at all if you’re black. All he said was “what do you need”. He basically shoved the part on the counter without even looking at us or saying a word. Then the 2nd and last thing he said to us was “cash only”. So we just walked out. Cheaper part at OReilys. It’s a shame because the reason we went here was BECAUSE it was a mom and pop shop but we got treated like dirt.
No stars
I went there to have my bearings pressed. I heard how great they were. The customer service was terrible. The guy said everything he could to convince me not to get the bearings pressed but to go buy a used assembly. He called himself trying to save me some money I guess, that’s why the two stars…. I felt he had a really bad attitude, like he didn’t want my business. I don’t get it either. I wasn’t a tough customer or difficult. I came in and said exactly what I wanted.

Guitar center was great! Found exactly what I was looking for! The right dj equipment and headphones. I shall be returning soon for more speakers and subwoofers!! Music 4 life!
Great guitar teachers.
It’s a guitar center. The McDonald’s of musical instruments store. They are consistent. If you’ve been to one, you’ve been to all.
They will rip you off. Find a local shop like Players Guitars
The soundproofing work done on my condominium ceiling dramatically reduced the noise from my upstairs neighbors. For that alone, I recommend Soundproof My Place. But my highest praise is for my experience as the homeowner. Vinicio is prompt, responsive, and detailed in his communication without being burdensome. The workmanship is excellent, but I was particularly impressed with how orderly Vinicio and his crew kept the work area and how spotlessly clean they left it when the work was completed. Highly recommended.
I have only good things to say about the service I had with Vinicio. My dental office was newly built last year. We found out about the noise issue only 2 weeks before I opened my new office to the patient. The architect planned the mechanical room on the hallway with only closet doors, and the compressor and suction machine was so horribly loud and I had to do something about it.
I reached out to many soundproof companies and got quotes and plans. Many of them only had sound pannel options/ adding soundproof barrier attached to the closet door. They did admit that doing a new door would help but it would be out of their realm of specialty and I would have to work with a door company- which would only add up more $$ for the entire project.
Then I met Vini with Soundproof my place. He gave me plans to completely remodel my mechanical room so we could block the noise from the ceiling, the wall and the door. (Yes, this involved doing a complete new wall, ceiling and door.) He even offered to finish the painting and drop ceiling and trim after all the big work was done. We didn’t have to hire anyone else because he knew how to do it all. I know that it could have costed me more than double he charged me. I was so lucky to have found him!
He worked around our schedule and started the work on Saturday after our business hours. I only closed one day and was able to open in the next business day with a lot less noise.
He was always on time. He made sure he ordered the right material for the work. He always made sure that I was happy with the result. If I recall any service that is above and beyond in last 5 years, without hesitation I would say Vini with Soundproof my place is the first one I can think.
The result? Day and night different. My office is now quiet and suits more to its newly built look. I highly recommend Vini to anybody who needs professional/complicated soundproofing service. I know you’ll be happy with EVERYTHING.
Thank you so much Vini!
Update to be provided on September 20, 2021: After several months of living in my place, I will provide a full update later this month with a link to a website I’m creating showing photographs and documents relating to SmP’s services after living here almost four months after their “green glue dried.” I will also provide my contact information for those wishing to discuss my thoughts in detail.
————————————————————————–
Soundproof My Place is the single best investment I’ve made to improve the quality of my life (although I wish I didn’t have to make the investment had the seller’s representations to us regarding the soundproofing proven true). My new ceiling ended up being very poorly insulated and I could literally hear every foot step and every movement of furniture above me. I spent several months researching companies around Chicago who could perform the work and after meeting with the owner, Vinicio, my wife and I were left with a gut feeling that he was the right contractor to use given his experience, his personality, and the fact that he personally works on all of his projects and obviously takes great pride in his work.
Our project was not easy as it involved soundproofing 550 square feet of an open living space with a 14 foot ceiling and many nooks and crannies that would not be easy to get to. After he started, he and one of his main employees, Dave (awesome in his own right), worked diligently every day to ensure my place was ready for when my wife and I returned from the hospital with our first child. He sent me picture updates every day and consulted me on every important decision, including placement of junction boxes and the nature of the lighting I wanted installed (which he and Dave handled). Upon return, our place was clean and we immediately noticed a HUGE difference that only got better as the Green Glue dried. Vinicio even came back to my place a couple more times to make sure everything sounded better and he and Dave came back again to switch out the lights I had initially chosen as my wife decided she wanted smaller lights than the ones we initially chose, and so he returned and spent a day replacing all 12 of the lights they initially installed.
While this might sound like a review that I was paid for, I can assure you I wasn’t, I’m just so happy I’m living in a peaceful environment where I can be alone with my thoughts and my family and not the Godzilla vs. Mothra stomping above. Anyone looking to soundproof their ceiling or walls would be wise to at least request a consultation with Vinicio (and he never pressed us on anything, and so you can be sure that if he comes out to your place, he’s not going to pressure you in any way, which is always nice to know ahead of time).

Great customer service, very patient and informative.
Great choice of instruments and accessories, friendly staff and simply nice place. It is advertised as a music school on the web site but it is a great music shop as well.
Very courteous and professional
Very friendly and welcoming place. Had an issue with a repair but they corrected the problem. Took more than stop to resolve the issue, so 4 out 5 stars. Would still recommend and will continue to shop here.
Good
Great place with very friendly staff members. They’re always willing to help. I used them for instrument rental for a couple of my kids.

Cute little music store. I took my flute to be repaired and they did an overhaul on it for a a fairly good price. Do not park in the lot to the east, instead park on the street (the owners in that lot apparently ton quickly!).
Of course I manage to break a part on my bass that most bass players have never heard of breaking before…not only was the part improved upon (my tuning pegs are now a bright silver!), love the choice of strings selected for my style (and capabilities) of playing! Love having both stores in reach…one by walking and one by bus! Even had my tone controls tightened (yeah…I let them go loose years ago and just never moved ’em). Great deal on all of it! In my opinion, worth the investment as I having been playing it a lot more…now that it works again!
Went there to ask if he would appraise a musical instrument that I found, he was extremely helpful and nice, explained all the parts very well and gave me a price that I could possible get for it. Great guy and very helpful.
I like that this place is close and will continue to buy my notation paper here. It’s a little expensive, very small, and outdated. I asked about getting a job here and I think I’m going to retract my statement. I would not like teaching in a place like that.
