Great music store and excellent guitar tech. Brought in my 60’s ES300 for some work and when i got it back it played better than the day it left Gibson. A customer for ages and for a good reason.
Got my first guitar and amp here. Happy with the quality, service, and knowledge. Also taking weekly lessons. Great rates and times available. Recommend them highly
Jim and Nick are friendly with their Customer
Friendly people
Music store with a nice selection of instruments. Some vinyl and CDs too, although it has very few, if any, hidden treasures. 2 stars removed because the one employee and 2 of the customers were not wearing masks when I visited. I would have spent more time and money here if they were. Stay safe, everyone.
I was very dissatisfied with this location as they don’t offer any instruments that would allow the user to produce the sounds of Echolocation
4. Mighty Mite
Address: Lake County, 100 Oakwood Rd, Lake Zurich, IL 60047 , Kildeer , Illinois , United States
Great selection of new hardcovers, staffed well so lines to check out were not long. Got most of my holiday shopping done Lots of specials in starbucks for while you browse or after shopping.
Very busy time of the year! Helpful and pleasant despite the long lines of customers. Always a pleasure to shop there.
Fun time reading and family friendly!
located in Deer Park. They always have a good selection of things we want. Games, collectables, and books. Staff is friendly and helpful when needed.
Gotta love a convenient Starbucks inside!
Ok but didn’t find what i wanted
Didn’t have the book I wanted, I called in to make sure they had it and they said they did have it and that it would be upfront at the cash register with my name on it. waited in line to be redirected to customer service to wait in line again, while waiting in line I notice the book was hardcover which its not supposed to be, so I took off the construction paper with my name and it was the wrong book anyway. Giant waste of time I bought online and they gave extra stuff anyway. After seeing how awesome to the stars was I really despise b&n
Really unprofessional service don’t recommend this location to anyone
Disappointed
6. Schaff Piano Supply Co.
Address: 1370 Ensell Rd, Lake Zurich, IL 60047 , Kildeer , Illinois , United States
I have been getting my supplies from Schaff since 1980 (Yikes I’m getting old!) and they’re the best supply I’ve dealt with. Great advice and nice folks.
Love the new facility! Frank gave me a tour today.
We always have great service from Schaff! Alan in the parts department is great to work with!!
Our DJ was so professional and was flexible when it came to requests. Thank you Yazz Events for making our 10th Anniversary party a success!
Yazz jazz music and productions could not be better. Our DJ was Dale and he was phenomenal. He helped my husband and I plan the whole day down to the small details. He made our wedding day as amazing as it could be! His MC skills are unparalleled and all our guests could not give enough compliments about his ability to get the whole crowd onto the dance floor. He worked with my husband and I on getting a quartet who were great, they really stepped our ceremony up a notch. Dale also did a projection mapping cake where he had my husband’s and my name and wedding dates, along with fairy dust looking lights. He made us a custom slideshow where he put pictures of us, as well as pictures of disney couples and wrestling couples. I had no worries on the day of the wedding knowing Dale was there to handle everything. Yazz jazz is THE BEST company you could use and I can’t reccomend them highly enough!!
I’ve been in the entertainment industry for nearly 20 years and I can say without a doubt that Amy at Yazz is top notch. You won’t find a more professional staff or group of performers. Her prices are incredibly reasonable and I plan to use her for many future events.
Selection of music – A+
The band is always early, dressed well, polite, and professional.
I saw Yazz Jazz perform at the showcase at the Crowne Plaza in Burr Ridge in March. Amy’s performances were subpar. She appeared lethargic. As a whole, Yazz Jazz was a mess when it counted most.
9. First Watch
Address: 20505 N Rand Rd Ste 300, Kildeer, IL 60047 , Kildeer , Illinois , United States
Very cool local restaurant. Food was great, service was amazing and the overall vibe was awesome
We went this morning for my sister birthday and I was very happy with the customer service and food! There was miss communication with my order with the kitchen but my server and also the manager made sure to correct it immediately and were apologetic. Also my son says they have the best hot chocolate because they add chocolate on-top of the whipped cream! Can’t wait to return
The food was delicious! I had the eggs Benedict with BLT topping, my friend had the bananas foster. The staff was friendly. The only negative was once they seated us (party of 2) we waited a long time before the waitress came and took our order. 20min or more. They were busy, but it would be nice if someone acknowledged us, even to tell us they would be there soon. Besides this, it was wonderful and I would come back again!
I chose to give this location 3 stars based on a few factors.
1. Their online check in feature doesn’t work making the wait period annoying since you have to check in when you get there.
2. Food – wasn’t bad, wasn’t amazing. I expected more from them for the cost. The food was kinda blah, nothing to tell mom about or your friends.
3. Drinks – iced coffee was very sweet. Sadly I wasn’t given the option to add my own sugar or cream. The Bloody Mary my wife had wasn’t much to talk about either. The bacon in it was good however.
We usually love coming to First Watch but had a very odd experience this morning!
It took a long time for us to be waited on after sitting down. Our server seemed to be going through the motions and after my husband said yes to coffee I said I will have a cold brew and then he turned to me and then asked what I wanted to drink so I said it again. I ordered a cold brew and both my husband and I tried it and we thought it was not the best/off. So I asked if I could possibly switch to iced coffee and the server was very nice and said yes! When I got the iced coffee it also tasted off and we think it was the mocha mint iced featured drink on accident (just without the drizzle and foam) but I didn’t want to complain again. Our food was also not the best. I ordered a farmhouse skillet which is one of my go tos here, and I asked for sunny side up eggs! They were more on the hard side and there was also what seemed to be uncooked egg whites in the skillet too 🙁 My husbands scrambled eggs were not mixed well and there were patches of egg white. When we went to pay the host did not acknowledge us and asked us to hang on while she went to attend to another table who had a question.. sort of odd.
We usually have great experiences here and think the food is usually good, but today that was not the case.
Came here on a Monday morning for my birthday breakfast since I had a coupon. It was not busy at all so we were seated right away. Our server- Reonela (sorry if I spelled it wrong) was awesome! Very polite, attentive five stars for her but three to whoever cooked the food. My potatoes were burnt and I ordered the skillet hash which is all potatoes! It was salty and the water for the tea tasted like watered down coffee. Maybe boil water instead of using it from the coffee maker. My tea did not taste right at all. I didn’t bother sending it back since the French toast was perfect.
Parking: Parking is on the side of the building plenty of space
We did not get to taste their food since they just had us waiting for a table. Initially it was 30 minutes then 45 and then another 15. We had to cancel our table and leave without eating. I think you may reconsider your way of taking walk-ins
Been there three times
First time was great wait time was normal and food was amazing
Second time wait time was fine but the food was horrible
Third time wait time was fine at first typical 20 to 30 minutes but then after I waited about. 45 minutes and I asked they then said it would be another 20 to 30 minutes
Will not be going back and would not recommend
I’ve been to First Watch plenty of times including in different states. I would have rated my experience 4 stars each time but after what happened the last time I went, I have to bring it down to 1.
The wait time was short considering the restaurant was full and everything started off well. We got waters and were looking at the menu to decide on what to eat. Then came the waitress and little to my knowledge would she ruin the first half of my day.
I have some dietary restrictions, so there were things on the menu that I had questions about as well as things I did not explicitly see on the menu. I could tell from my first question she was already annoyed and answering very short or sarcastically. She went on to say “did you even read the menu” which was so rude. There are some people who cannot read a menu on their own so for her to say that was extremely insensitive. I also know that many restaurants do not always list all of the items they have on the menu so I asked in case it wasn’t there. I felt so intimidated and uncomfortable with the interaction. It truly ruined my experience.
As for the food, it came out pretty quick and thankfully someone else brought it out. The food here is always good and feels healthier than eating at other breakfast places. However, it was hard to truly enjoy my meal after the experience I had with ordering it. She did come around to see how things were but you could tell she had a bad attitude all around. It’s been a while since I’ve been out to eat at a place that makes me feel like a burden. I honestly probably won’t be coming back to this location which is unfortunate since the other locations are pretty far. The food is fine but beware as you may not have the best service.
10. The Music Room
Address: 26 N Brockway St, Palatine, IL 60067 , Kildeer , Illinois , United States
What a great place. Huge customer service, amazing repairs.
These guys were great! I needed a vintage tenor banjo restrung and a mystery part put in its proper place, and they handled everything easily and professionally. 100% satisfied.
A great hometown music store!!! Not only do they have a wonderful selection of guitars, and amplifiers, but they also have orchestral instruments, sheet music, and lessons, all of which at very reasonable prices. The lessons there are friendly and helpful, not to mention fun. All together, I give this place an enthusiastic two thumbs up!
Walked in this place for the first time being a non musician. Looks like a great selection of instruments and several training rooms. They have two floors of products and friendly and knowledgeable staff who can help you purchase. This is on the corner of brockway and slade.
If you want to learn how to play an instrument, don’t take lessons here. It may be good for children, but for the adult, not so much. Lots of theory, folk songs out of a book. A year or so of lessons, and I couldn’t play a thing, 4wks of lessons elsewhere and I can play 5 rock songs, this sums up the wasted money. Also instruments and gear over priced, and not gig quality.
Dave is an amazing guitar teacher and player! My kids have been taking lessons from him for years. They are now not only very good but love it so much! I highly recommend Dave Krater!!
Dave is a fantastic guitar instructor. He not only is a skilled muscian with a wealth of knowledge about guitar styles and music theory, but is an excellent teather. He is very patient with my kids, and is excellent at figuring out where their skills are at, and working with them to progress to the next level. He will work with you to achieve your goals and progress at whatever pace you are comfortable with.
Dave is a fantastic teacher. He’s taught me (I’m 40) to play all styles I am interested in and helped me reach my goals. My two sons also take lessons with Dave and they have excelled with him. Dave is patient and has a vast knowledge of all styles of music. He knows theory and helps you reach your goals on the guitar. Great teacher and I have recommended him to others looking for lessons. Can’t say enough good things- thanks Dave!

If you’re looking to learn to play music – Shawn is the instructor for you. I highly recommend him.
Shawn was my daughter’s guitar/bass teacher for many years beginning with junior high school and continuing through college. His skill, knowledge and ability to teach, without doubt, was a huge influence on her musicality. To this day she is still an active musician.
I have been taking weekly guitar lessons from Shawn at Hutch Music Studio for 3 1/2 years and can think of no better teacher to learn from. Shawn is fluent in music at all levels. His deep understanding of music theory is only ‘icing on the cake’ for learning guitar techniques and skills. He is very patient, encouraging and uses very effective methods to help students learn at any level. His passion for music is evident at each lesson.
If you are considering music lessons, I can’t recommend Shawn enough.
Hutch Music Studio has everything one could wish for – whether taking lessons from Shawn, using the studio as a practice facility, or recording music. Check it out!!!
Shawn is the best music teacher I’ve ever worked with. He’s so patient and kind , he really is passionate about this industry. I felt so insecure about my abilities or lack of in music and he completely changed my life . 12/10 recommend coming to him .
The owner, Shawn Hutchings is an amazing teacher! He’s great with my youngest daughter and she looks forward to her lessons each week. She’s always talking about the newest thing she’s learned and I’m so grateful we’ve found such a patient teacher that works well with our busy schedule! I definitely recommend to any parent that’s looking for music lessons for themselves or their children.
15. PJLA Music Sales & Marketing
Address: 22159 N Pepper Rd, Lake Barrington, IL 60010 , Kildeer , Illinois , United States
I bought a trumpet from PJLA Music a PHAETON Trumpet PHT-2040 Black Chrome Onyx plated finish with 24 K Gold Plated finger buttons, top/bottom caps & water keys. I have been playing trumpet for 40 years and I have never had a better horn then this. I got it and starting playing and it played freely and was open and the horn allowed me to do as i wished with it and truly went over the top with its performance.. Thank you for my Horn!
16. Walmart Supercenter
Address: 820 S Rand Rd, Lake Zurich, IL 60047 , Kildeer , Illinois , United States
We live near Walmart on Rand and Dundee but this one is completely different-more and quality goods and cleanest store ever visited.
Has everything you need. It’s Wal-Mart super center 🙂
It’s Walmart! What we expect?
Muy buenos precios
Love it
Picked over selection of items I was looking to purchase. Rude employee scolded me for wanting to use 1 coupon at self checkout. Told me I’d have to unbag my items & get in line to rescan my purchase in another lane. Since I didn’t have the time it cost me $5. If the guy had been polite about it I would have done it that way but his scolding me made me feel embarrassed & I just wanted to leave ASAP.
Pulled cash back and accidentally left without it. Called to see if they stumbled upon it, they answered the first phone call but would not respond tried two more times and it was just on ringer. I just hope they use that money towards a meal or necessity. I’m gonna probably guess that it was spent on drugs because of the way this situation was handled. I may be wrong but it would’ve been nice to talk to somebody, even if they said they never came across it l; but instead I was listening to the clanking of a keyboard. This review never would’ve happened if I just talked to someone.
does not restock merchandise in a timely manner like kids shoes
17. Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant- Kildeer
Address: 20423 N Rand Rd, Kildeer, IL 60074 , Kildeer , Illinois , United States
Food is good but could of done better on preparing it to make it gluten free. Could of given a side dish like salad. The dessert was very good.
Dietary restrictions: Like I said earlier selection of gluten free
My husband and I had the greatest experience at Cooper’s Hawk in Kildeer Illinois on 7/9/23. Jennifer Sotelo the manager was extremely professional & accommodating.Jennifer our waitress was wonderful. She was professional, attentive to detail & always checking in to make certain we had everything. We will definitely return. Thank you all!
Very nice place, we had a terrific server .
Decent food, but the servers push their wine club too hard. The wine itself isn’t all that great for the price. I’ve had many $20 bottles of red that would blow away their $60 reds every day of the week. So, go for the food and vibe, but don’t join the overpriced wine club.
They cram you in like sardines in a can. Our server lacked appropriate experience. Ordered a surf and turf choice. He described the 3 medallions, we added the salmon. You actually only get 2 medallions and they are both with the same crust. Ordered broccolini and got served regular broccoli.
Very loud!!
Coopers Hawk is generally a safe bet for a great meal with great service. I don’t know if it’s because this location is new and they are working the bugs out, but this whole experience left a lot to be desired. We had reservations for 2 at 7 p.m., and they tried to seat us in the bar. We said no thanks, we would wait for a table in the dining room. (Upon leaving, we walked past the hostess who was trying to do the same thing to a party and they ALSO said no thanks!)
Once in the dining room, our server was nice enough but the service was slow. My husband’s pork chop came with no knife, and an absent server. The potatoes were ice cold on both plates, and my filet medallions were lukewarm at best. I didn’t say anything since my husband’s meal was really the issue. They did rectify that by heating it back up, but even then, the potatoes were still not hot.
We sat with our empty plates in front of us for 10 minutes before our server came back. Once he did, he only cleared mine, and left my husband’s for another 10 minutes!
This was a birthday celebration for my husband but we didn’t even have time for dessert at this point, as we had 9:15 reservations for a comedy club. When we got the check, my credit card was missing and the server eventually pulled it out of his shirt pocket.
This was not the birthday dinner I wanted for my husband, to say the least.
If I could give 0 stars I would. I LOVE coopers hawk so much, it is one of my favorite restaurants and I go all the time for the wine, food & great atmosphere. I had the chicken egg rolls with ranch & god FOOD POISONING. I have never had food poisoning in my life. I was super excited about this new location opening up only 20 mins away from my house. About 7-8 hours later I had very bad poisoning & this was the only thing I ate all day. & ended up in the ER. Im a healthy young woman and i was not happy at all. Manager was nice but all I got was a 4,000 dollar bill and a refund for the 15 dollar bill, egg rolls. Disgusted with this whole thing. I am very sad to say I will not be coming back to this location in the future. BEWARE. This restaurant made me VERY VERY sick. I felt like they should’ve taken care of this more. I am sorry to say they did not. Still fighting over them paying for my hospital bill too. A NIGHTMARE.
We had reservations, took forever to be seating, everything was slow. The short rib was super fatty (this is my go-to at Cooper’s Hawk). They took note, but no one came to acknowledge it or anything. Pretty disappointing given the price. Also, very loud.
18. Painted Tree Boutiques – Kildeer
Address: 20771 N Rand Rd Suite F, Kildeer, IL 60047 , Kildeer , Illinois , United States
Great shop! Lots of cool things you can’t find anywhere else! Highly Recommended!!
Exelente
Love this store
Beautiful store and presentation of vendors is excellent. I enjoy shopping at the Kildeer, Illinois store but it falls short for gift giving. The return policy of 48hrs makes it impossible for me to purchase gifts. It would be my “go to” place for gift giving if the return policy was more lenient.
Great way to shop a unique variety of creative items. A few empty stalls. A few overpriced. But mostly great and fun finds. Even nuns of St Roger Abbey cookies, yum.
Fun walk through. Very eclectic offerings.
Most of the booths looked to me like an overpriced subdivision garage sale. The few others you can get the same decor at Hobby Lobby for 1/2 the price. Will NOT be back. It was a waste of my time
What happened to this place. Have the store is empty.
Too many small spaces with very similar items in each one. Very expensive.
19. Potbelly
Address: 20505 Rand Rd, Kildeer, IL 60047 , Kildeer , Illinois , United States
I just had to make sure I recognized the sweet girl who was working at the register when I went to pay for my sandwich about a half hour ago. She said to me “you’re really pretty”. It caught me off guard and truly made my day! It’s incredible how something so simple can go such a long way. Potbelly is lucky to have such kind employees working for them. She is the one who paid me a compliment but I want to make sure SHE knows she too is beautiful inside and out. Thanks again to her for her kind words
Ok
Great location and staff. Sandwiches and chips are good too!
The Mediterranean with chicken is scrumptous! Clean, organized and efficient process.
The gentleman who was allegedly the gm was very polite. However Shelby who is supposed to be an assistant manager was one of the rudest people I have ever had the displeasure to encounter. She was rude from the minute I stepped up to pay for my sandwich. When I asked for her name she flat out refused to give it to me. I asked to speak with the manager twice the second time she told her co worker she was done dealing with me and went to the back room. This woman basically threw a temper tantrum. I can’t imagine any establishment keeping someone like this as an employee not alone in the capacity of an assistant manager. I would not return to this store as every other Potbelly’s I have ever the people are polite. I don’t think it takes much to be polite rather than acting like a spoiled brat.
This review is specifically regarding the Kildeer/Deer Park location. All I wanted was half a sandwich and some Zapp’s salt & vinegar chips. I was shopping with my niece and just wanted a quick lunch. When I ordered the half sandwich, the girl who took my order didn’t indicate that you can only get a half sandwich on the pick 2. I was very belligerently informed of this by someone named Robert who
Said he was the manager. He asked me what the other part of my pick 2 was and I was confused. I didn’t want soup or salad. He said he couldn’t sell a half sandwich, which is not clear from the menu. I ended up with potato soup which was bland and over cooked. I have been to Potbelly in Schaumburg and Rolling Meadows and have alway had great food and service. I will never set foot in this location again,
Understaffed
