Great customer service and I bought 2 trumpets from here and their perfect
Ask for Ron or Linda or anyone!!!!
They awesome and they help out with beginner band
Good. place to shop for all your. music. needs.
Wonderful customer service
Always have a good experience at Arts. They work well with the school programs and if they don’t have what we need they are sure to find it
I laid way electric drum set I paid it off in 3 months when I came to pick up my drum set they gave me the display set on the floor they didn’t even bother to clean it and and dumped everything in the box and hand it to me, when I got home I was very disappointed so I called them and they said this is what you purchased. After long talk to their manager they decided to give us a new one. And send me a card for customer satisfaction to know how they treated me. If you’re planning to Layaway anything make sure to tell them I wanted to be a brand new never used and when you buy it open it in the store to make sure you get what you pay for.
I brought in something for them to look at in January and it’s been 3 and a 1/2 months and they haven’t called back. I’ve called 5 or 6 times and the manager has been on vacation every single one of those times. They stole my instrument. DO NOT GO HERE
I spent $3500 on a saxophone here and when I tried to sell it back they offered me $150 even though it was in good condition just an fyi
3. Music & Arts
Address: 4673 US-280 Suite 7, Birmingham, AL 35242 , Lake Purdy , Alabama , United States
Excellent customer service! They were so helpful with fixing my son’s guitar and went above and beyond to make sure his guitar was fixed and tuned! Adina and Tim both helped us so much and were especially kind!
4. Forbes Organ Co
Address: Birmingham, AL 35242 , Lake Purdy , Alabama , United States
i love this company because the assistant manager once saved my life, literally, not figuratively. i got into a car accident once and Kyle showed up at the scene and gave me CPR for 7 hours until i was revived. he wouldn’t stop even though everyone insisted i was surely brain dead. not only that but then he set me up with his brother who is now my fiancé. now you may ask, what does that have to do with music? well, he played “staying alive” on repeat to give him the perfect beat for chest compressions. thanks kyle!!
I don’t know anything about music but the assistant manager is pretty cute.
8. Gadsden Music Company – Birmingham
Address: 4524 Southlake Pkwy, Birmingham, AL 35244 , Lake Purdy , Alabama , United States
Very nice place! Loved it. Found everything we needed at an affordable price.
Good people great service
Nice little music store for concert students. Not much in store selection but they can get what you need. This is not a guitar center type store.
No Gibson guitars.
I was easily able to drop off my trumpet for repair.
Worst customer service! Really had no interest in talking to my child who is the one to be playing the instrument. Will gladly spend my thousands of dollars somewhere else!
I have an account with this company and when I arrived to drop off an instrument, I was immediately told
“Do you have a repair? Can you leave it at least a month? We’re that backed up and that’s just the way it is.” I have no problem with businesses having business but I do have a problem with being a loyal customer and being spoken to so rudely. I will not be returning for any new future transactions. What an unfortunate example of bad customer service.
I would give this Gadsden music store no stars if it was allowed. The store representative, Jason Duren, had a bad attitude and was not helpful. He did not want to hand me my receipt and when I said something about it he told me I had an attitude. Jason must have a problem with women or it maybe people of color in general. Don’t waste your time here!! Fine a real music store who welcomes paying customers.
9. Casebere Violins
Address: 4717 Eagle Wood Ct, Birmingham, AL 35242 , Lake Purdy , Alabama , United States
I will never go anywhere else. He takes time and explains everything. He does a great job. Very reasonable too! Judy Tayler, Fiddle Player
John is very knowledgeable and friendly. Quality luthier work and excellent instruments
John takes his time and explains everything to you about your violin. He does not recommend an upgrade (bow or strings) unless he truly thinks it is absolutely necessary. He is a outstanding luthier.
They don’t make ’em like this anymore. Best place in town for quality acoustic instruments and service.
Very friendly
Do not recommend, was extremely rude over the phone and continued to interrupt me.
10. Highland Music
Address: 3000 Clairmont Ave, Birmingham, AL 35205 , Lake Purdy , Alabama , United States
Still the place where musicians can hang out and be ‘understood’–it really is a special art form, and these guys that run Highland music know their stuff. They’re also very Community oriented in terms of letting you know who’s performing & where. Their music history and Birmingham history knowledge really is pretty vast.
They have a huge selection of guitars and amps and everything you could ever want or need for your guitars.
My kinda music store. Classic amps and guitars. Helpful staff
It kind of feels like grandpa’s basement here, in a good way. Lots of interesting gear to browse through, plenty of it gently used and ready to be rocked again. There are some Strats hanging here that anyone would love to own, plenty of great options for tube amps, replacement speakers and even an eclectic assortment of used pedals that are worth picking through.
Pricing for everything is slightly higher than online for same items, BUT, you get to support a local business and take it home today. It’s the kind of place I’d stop in to a couple times a year if I lived here. Character.
Bought a guita there yeRs ago. Just visiting the store ‘off Highland’ for the first time. Nice array of guitars !
Tried to get my guitars worked on here multiple times. First time was an 8 string, guy said “I don’t like black guitars they scratch too easily” and then rubbed a cloth with steel wool fibers over it and scratched the guitar. GEE I wonder why! Had a pickup swap done on another guitar, put a scratch on it that went through the paint. Not only that, but he took it upon himself to do a full “set up” when I did not ask him to now I have buzz everywhere and it plays worse than it did before, then charged me for it. Oh and the pickups are also out of phase. Sorry, but that’s it. No more chances. Goodbye.
Pretentious and overpriced….typical music store snobbery
Won’t ever visit again! No greetings, no nothing. I was in the store about ten minutes and no one ever acknowledge it. I was referred to this place by the guy in Homewood music shop but he could’ve saved the breath he use cause nothing was worth driving to this store for!!
11. Homewood Musical Instrument Co
Address: 1712 28th Ave S, Homewood, AL 35209 , Lake Purdy , Alabama , United States
Picked up a nice Violin from Bob and could not be happier with the product! My wife has not put it down since we got home and I know it was set up to perfection. Very patient and accommodating! Highly recommend a visit!
Good product, Good service.
Friendly atmosphere and lots of instruments.
I’ve never dealt with someone so rude over the phone. The owner tried to guilt me with sarcasm and acted like victim when I questioned a price. Full story: I asked to order a cello string. All was going well (owner answered questions about speed of shipping and availability of the string), but then he quoted a price ($81) that was far above what other shops charge. I said respectfully that “I’ve purchased the string for $45 at other walk-in shops” and he became sarcastic and argumentative with me, claiming he was “holding my hand” through the process, and said “Well, I have to pay $35 for this string so what do YOU think is fair for ME to make? $15? What is 35 + 15, huh? Ohhh, maybe $50 is more than you can afford?” A simple, “well this is my price” would have been fine as a response from him, but I felt disrespected so I hung up and decided I’m never going to spend a dime Homewood Musical Instrument Co. I advise everyone else to steer clear of this shop and the guy who owns it.
12. Lake Purdy
Address: 3780 Boat Launch Rd, Birmingham, AL 35242 , Lake Purdy , Alabama , United States
This is a wonderful lake with a very helpful crew, in the bait shop and outside. They are so accommodating with my family since we are from out of town and don’t fish much. The girl in the shop got a kid outside to come recommend the correct bait so my boys could catch their first fish while visiting their grandparents.
The African American gentleman who showed us to our boat made sure we were comfortable with the boat since this was our first time on one. He put our fears to rest. He started talking to the kids and gave us very helpful info and areas to drive the boat to for good fishing spots. It worked because we all caught fish! I did not have cash on me but I’m definitely tipping extra next time. Seems everyone here works very hard, I don’t know how they keep up but everyone seems to work together.
Great trip and great service, even though they were so busy that we could hardly find a place to park, but we received excellent service despite that fact. We will be back the next time we visit family in town.
Thank you for sharing such a beautiful lake with the public. We will return! -JW
This was a really nice place. We went fishing and got on a boat. Fishing was free and the boat was around $45. We fished around the lake and caught bass, catfish and crappies.
Like everything else in life today minnows have gotten more expensive but the fish ain’t bitting them.
Nice staff!!
Good fishing and bait
Terrible Experience! Took my boat in to have work done on my Nissan Outboard Motor. I was told that it would take about 1 -2 weeks for the issue to be fixed. Ended up taking 3.5 weeks to get the boat back. They did not order part because technician went out of town and waited until he got back to order part. I asked if they tested motor out when I went to pick it up, they said yes, and assured me that everything was repaired. So, I took my boat out and it overheated again, the problem was not fixed and almost got stranded on lake, luckily I was able to get back to ramp with trolling motor. Turns out they replaced impeller but did not replace cotter key. Which evidently is something that you should not forget to do if you knew what you were doing. I called the owner Ken and asked for my money back and he said no that he wanted to fix the issue. I told him there is no way that I would ever let work on my boat again after the lousy experience. I ended up letting Alabama Marine fix my motor and the technician over there said that there was no excuse for the mistake made. Long story short, don’t take your boat motor to be serviced! It will take too long and it probably wont be done right and if it isn’t done right, they will not give your money back!! Super Shady and terrible customer service!
Driving the boat is fun but I rarely catch anything
Great experience purchasing my Refrigerator. Staff was helpful, informative and kind.
Great customer service.
Friendly and helpful
You probably know Best Buy. This is a good store. Good location. Good selection. Staff is helpful.
The workers are nice and helpful but the manager or Supervisor is awful. He talks to the workers like they are trash. I will never shop at the 280 store again.
slow service on phone
Extremely DISSATISFIED with pricing, lack of stock, AND most importantly lack of help or knowledge from the staff member that I spoke with at the Inverness location. I specifically chose Best Buy because I have had good experiences in the past with major purchases by talking to staff members on the Geek Squad. I specifically stated my needs upon entry, but the employee that was sent to help me kept telling me to go online to do my research and to make my choice based on what I liked best after checking the website. I was very clear about the fact that I’d been online and narrowed my choices; however, since I’m not exactly tech savvy I’d hoped that visiting the store and speaking with someone on the Geek Squad would help me better understand what I actually needed and use that info to help me finalize my decision about which 2 laptops I could actually be comfortable purchasing. Obviously, since 2 laptops is a rather LARGE purchase, I was extremely disappointed about being told to search online and decide what I like and since everything in store was basically out of stock anyway, just order online and then bring it to the store after I recieved them if I have any other questions or need help setting them up.
…yeah…I left without buying anything and decided I’ll make these 2 LARGE purchases on Amazon or Wal-Mart…
Don’t go here for Samsung Care claims. Geek Squad has no idea what they’re talking about or doing. They told me they had to replace the entire inner screen on a Fold4 to replace the screen protector, and that they couldn’t do it anyway because Samsung wouldn’t let them.
I am writing you to inform you of the issue I encountered in your store on 12/29. I’ve sent about 4k in Best buy in the last 3 months and I am about ready to cut up my card and cancel my account. I placed an order at 2:49pm I arrived at the store at 6pm to get my order it still was not ready. The gentleman told me the online pick up time saying 1hr is false and that the online pick up is for people who do not need their items right away that usually come in a day or two to get there item. Also proceeded to tell me they are understaffed no big deal I volunteered to go get the item and have them pick it I know these times of the year are crazy. I looked everywhere for the item I couldn’t find it so I asked a young lady for help locating the item she pointed and said it’s over there somewhere I then asked could you show me she proceed to keep walking I then asked for a manager he again said he probably up front and pointed. I then found the manager Dakota I explained to him my situation and he told me the same thing that online pick up times are not accurate and that I would have to wait so I said can you show me where the item is and I pull purchase it and cancel my order he tried for a minute to help me but didn’t really want to as he was helping he started helping another person. Then told me it’s not in the spot it says that means they don’t have it. I explained to him that the website said it was in stock that why I drove to this store then he told me he didn’t know what to tell me and started to walk off. Him and the other young lady was so eager to help the white gentleman and lady but as I needed help no one wanted to come up with a solution. Then he scream to the top of his voice at get out I told him I don’t have to go anywhere I needed my order. He then threaten to call the police on me and continued to shout get out of the store he picked up the phone and got ready to call the police I asked him to cancel my order he said no you do it I’m like no I want you to cancel my order. I feel like I have been racially discriminated against in this store.
15. Ellis Piano & Organ
Address: 1550 Montgomery Hwy suite a, Birmingham, AL 35216 , Lake Purdy , Alabama , United States
The staff was friendly, and they have tons of pianos and other equipment to choose from. The space is enormous, and is fun to just browse. They also do repairs. Call or stop by for any musical needs. Would go again.
my experience was questionable. they decide who they want …
16. Recording Connection Audio Institute
Address: 4000 Eagle Point Corporate Dr, Birmingham, AL 35242 , Lake Purdy , Alabama , United States
This program has been the greatest education I’ve ever had. It was great pleasure working with them, including my advisor Elliot Campos. Whatever I needed, Elliot always had the solution.
If you’re looking for an affordable school with a clear schedule for work, Recording Radio Film connection is the one.
I’ve been doing a lot of editing in Pro Tools. It was kind of confusing at first, but thanks to my mentor I’m figuring it out. I’ve put in a lot of hours and I feel like I’m really mastering it.
I had no clue what I was doing until now. My mentor has been correcting all my bad recording and engineering habits. It’s crazy. I feel like I’m twice the artist I was before I enrolled in the program.
17. Guitar Pro’s LLC
Address: 224 Main St, Trussville, AL 35173 , Lake Purdy , Alabama , United States
Bruce and Tara are the most wonderful people you will ever meet, and I highly recommend Guitar Pro’s LLC to everyone !
Very nice people and helpful on the information I was seeking concerning a musical instrument
I loved this place because the owner took time and effort to help me understand the differences between styles and sounds of the guitars and other musical instruments he currently had in store that my son is interested in. Most definitely will be returning customers.
Nice people. Nice selection of guitars and gear. They have a lot of strings to choose from.
Nice selection of new and used guitars. Needs a jam space though..
Have a decent variety of all different kinds of cords and instruments and the guitars rule great prices too. And the lady in there is always super sweet
I bought a guitar for $2,875 from this shop online and they listed it as mint condition. I had to take it to a local luthier to have the frets polished because they were so dirty the guitar was unplayable. The shop refused to even split the cost ($50), wow! Incredible.
I will never set foot in this place again. Not that they will care. Thought I would give it another chance after several years. Nothing has changed so now I know for sure.
Accused me of taking out a screw, when all I asked was for the value of what it would cost to fix that. I fixed it myself 16$ out of my own pocket for a new screw, set of strings, and labor on my workbench at home. I thought about going to small claims court, for not selling me a guitar in the condition they claimed on reverb. I’d been looking for this guitar for a while, I didn’t want to just return it. I just wanted it in the condition that I saw it in and felt insulted when they instantly made me out to be at fault even after sending pictures moments after receiving it from UPS and to top it off I even have video of when I first opened it on the CCTV at work. Overall poor online experience.
18. Guitars and More LLC Gardendale
Address: 1128 Main St, Gardendale, AL 35071 , Lake Purdy , Alabama , United States
Awesome experience! Needed new strings on my banjo and they replace it quick!! Will be back again!
I enjoyed my visit to your shop. Thank you for the good deal on the guitar.
Great local guitar store. Eric does a great job running this store.
Great sales,super repair work!
Nice small business. Very helpful.
The people are nice but the stuff you buy here is garbage.
I went in yesterday and asked about a Gretch open back banjo on the back wall that didn’t have a price tag. The reply I got from the bearded gent behind the counter was ” I don’t know, probably $300 or something”, and then he walked away like I didn’t exist. The vibe I got from him was “I dont want to help you. I won’t help you”. I buy a LOT of instruments and spend thousands of dollars per year on all sorts of music equipment, but this store has shown me that they don’t want my business and they aren’t interested in having any sort of customer care. I didn’t want to go to Guitar Center anymore, I would like to buy from a local store, but Guitars and More has discouraged me from doing any business with them. My advice to other customers is to go elsewhere. They don’t want your business and they don’t deserve your business.
19. Fretted Instruments
Address: 2906 Linden Ave, Birmingham, AL 35209 , Lake Purdy , Alabama , United States
Best acoustic instrument dealer in town, and the nicest owner/banjo teacher on the planet.
The unassuming, cozy, welcoming character of this place is great. I wandered into this store after driving by it for more than a year. I was so glad that I did. The selection, despite the small space within, was pretty astounding. This is a location for finding fine, high-quality instruments. An excellent selection of all varieties and series of Martins, Taylors, Collings, Eastmans, and others. I was pleasantly surprised to see all of the “national top sales/ top dealer” awards given to Fretted Instruments by Taylor and Martin. Wow! Anyways, I left with a great new 500 series Taylor and a fantastic new 200 series for my nephew. The staff was quite helpful, it was a great experience, and I will be returning.
simply the best… most knowledgeable and highest quality fretted instruments…guitars, banjos, mandolins, and more
