Such a fun and quirky little store down by the water. Happy I stopped in and added a guitar to my collection from a little place like this
Super cool spot!
Mitch is a great musician and instrument repairman. He has a nice selection of musical instruments. If you have a problem, he can probably solve it.
Unique place worth visiting. Lots of guitar from second hand
DO NOT recommend! Guitar was shipped with no protection in two boxes that had been cut to fit and taped together, only one small piece of styrofoam in the bottom. The guitar arrived broken and is unable to be repaired. Request for a return and refund refused.
I am dumbfounded anyone can be giving this place more than one star. Complete hack. Brought a guitar in for a routine procedure, was most sloppy, amaturish job I could ever imagine. If you value your instrument at all, avoid this place at all costs. This is not a place for serious musicians or collectors. Is a tourist hole at very best. Beware.
Do not go here. The owner doesn’t know how to fix guitars.
4. Penny Lane Music Emporium
Address: 3038 N Federal Hwy Suite M, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33306 , Lauderdale-by-the-Sea , Florida , United States
It’s a great place! Really friendly and professional! I enjoy working and being there!
Best guitar sound in Florida
I love to visit the Penny Lane Emporium! The ambience of the store when I walk in gives me just that warm fuzzy feeling of a cozy down home “pickin’ parlor”! The wide selection of quality musical instruments and accessories, combined with a dedicated and knowledgeable teaching staff makes it a great “one stop music shop” for pro and beginner alike. I especially enjoy the monthly (first Thursday) bluegrass jam sessions where fellow musicians can gather to play and exchange musical ideas in a fun and relaxed setting. Regardless of your musical skill level, you can have a wonderful time pickin’ and singin’ at The Penny Lane Emporium!
This store appeared to have a nice variety & I was greeted w/a smile. I’m a 68 old professional, drove from Lake Okeechobee to visit this HARD-TO-FIND STORE. My FICO is quite high, Platinum AMEX & 3K cash in my pocket for an above average tenor though they can cost 10K+. I went to examine a Uke & the owner freaked out! “NO, NEVER TOUCH, I’ll tune it & give it to you”; nice sales approach! Never again, will I ever walk into Penny Lane. I found his attitude & demeanor insulting, offensive & condescending; however, this is just 1 man’s opinion.
Owner seems like an honest guy but do NOT use for repairs of Digital Pianos. I was charged 95 dollars for a repair and as you can see in the photos the the key of A is clearly not aligned so it still does not play properly. They sent the piano out to be fixed and the repair guy wanted an ADDITIONAL 30 dollars for a part to fix it. Total cost would be 125.00 to make the repair. Charging 95 dollars and giving me back a piano that still does not work is unacceptable. This is NOT the place to take your digital piano for repairs. I can not speak for any other aspect of the store other than the Owner does seem like genuine guy.
*****Addition*** To respond to the owners reply I now have to take back my assessment of him as honest because I was certainly never told you would fix it at no charge other than the part or I would have agreed, You should have just let the review stand and not thrown in a lie to try and make yourself look better. If you’re willing to lie once you will certainly do it again. I recommend EVERYONE take their business elsewhere.
I went to this store last month to buy a new bow for my violin. Because the one that was in the case was very damaged. So when I get to the store they tell me that their bows are out of stock and to come back within a month while they order so more bows. So I came back in a months time, and bought a carbon fiber bow which was very expensive compared to the traditional violin bows. So when I made the purchase the store clerk takes the bow out of the plastic bag it came in and he put it in the case. I got home and opened the case to get the bow out and it had broken. I was so angry and very dissatisfied with the very Cheap quality of the pretty expensive item. I would just be very cautious when dealing with this company!
5. Radio-Active Records
Address: 5975 N Federal Hwy Suite 130, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308 , Lauderdale-by-the-Sea , Florida , United States
Awesome! Good prices, good records. You must go!!!!!
Great place and people!
Wow..great vinyl selection and staff is awesome!!!
Knowledgeable, courteous staff. Great collection.
Vintage store in true fashion, but nothing really goes out of style. It’s just shelved and rebrand.
Decent store with a decent selection. You can find some brand new hidden gems if you look for them even for a genre of music you’d never really listen to. And if you’re someone like me who likes to flip prices, this is a good store to pick up inexpensive merchandise. Plus the free sticker is pretty rad as well!
Radio Active Records is the stalwart of record shops in Broward. Formerly on Sunrise this is the “new” shop on Federal across from Holiday Park. As far as record shops go, it’s pretty generic. There are lots discs, some are new, some are reissues and some are used. Unlike some of the other shops they try and classify things a little for specifically. Although this brought up so some strange filings – who knew the Loretta Lynn was Rock or that the Backstreet Boys were Soul? Overall it’s a decent place, I may stop in at a later date and do more digging.
Pushing your social and political stance as soon as people walk in the door is a good way to alienate buyers, left a bad taste.
The gentleman working that day wasn’t very pleasant.
6. Ruby Deagon
Address: 6245 N Federal Hwy Suite 411, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308 , Lauderdale-by-the-Sea , Florida , United States
First time I heard him I was impressed. Very talented singer and guitarist with a great voice. Plays guitar in some unique cool style like noone around and blows you away. He has his own original songs but also he makes alot of the cover songs different by recomposing them. The songs actually sound better than the originals and it’s nice listening to someone that doesn’t play the same old way you hear all the time and trying to mimic the exact same thing everyone is doing. So if you want talent and not karaoke you need to check him out.
7. DelacaSeas Lounge
Address: 4400 Bougainvilla Dr, Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, FL 33308 , Lauderdale-by-the-Sea , Florida , United States
Liked it when louis owned it . I miss him . He would cheer up my mornings. Dont know much about it since the new people took over, but I always prefer shopping local. Wine, Cigars, and newspapers dominate the shelves . Some snacks , but they are more expensive than any other place. Regardless, I still pick them over any regular gas station convenient store.
Came in just to get a cold drink after the beach, but then I noticed they also sell cigars. I asked the cashier to come help me with the cigars and she just gives a weird face and says she doesn’t know anything about them, not even the most popular. I also wanted to purchase some incense and had to ask her how much since there’s no sign, but I could barely hear her when she speaks. Everything she said was in a whisper. Should be retrained on customer service.
No magazines in this magazine stand.
Nice local place to eat with good atmosphere but the food is average at best. We went for breakfast, ordered the lobster Benedict. They made the dish with krab, not lobster. And, not only did they not use lobster, it was KRAB, imitation crab meat. When we complained they defended themselves but there is no doubt it was KRAB meat. As someone that has lived in SoFla all his life, it is easy to tell the difference between lobster and crab. Also, the hollandaise sauce, which we asked to have on the side, was cold and solid.
Listened to her music in Mastros i Fort Lauderdale and it was great.
Good mix of new and older songs.
Joanna performed for our intimate backyard wedding and was more than incredible. Her talent is unmatched. She is also unbelievably kind. Thank you Joanna for exceeding expectations! You are so amazing!
Joanna is a tremendously talented singer and keyboard player. I have now listened to Joanna for the past 5 years. During the peak of COVID in 2020 and 2021, I would go see Joanna every Saturday night at the EAU hotel. Listening to her sing and play keyboard was what helped me get through COVID. She has a significant following as I saw the same people go watch her play at a number of top hotels in South Florida over the past few years. I would absolutely recommend going to listen to one of her performances. You’ll be hooked!
9. Lashbrook Guitars, LLC
Address: 912 NE 2nd Ave, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304 , Lauderdale-by-the-Sea , Florida , United States
Had the best experience with them, the customer service was phenomenal, and they were super quick in shipping and response time! Truly a great Indie shop.
Great selection online, and great sales offers too! Mistakenly missed my discount code before checkout, and they were happy to manually process it after the fact. Loved the friendly customer service, and my order shipped out very quickly!
Great selection of colored vinyl that you can’t find anywhere else. Outstanding customer service!
Had the most amazing selection of fine guitars my son was so impressed and my boy knows his stuff. Very honest straight forward and professional….plus the wife is a sweetheart
I’ve been doing business with Craig for over 20 years, both buying and selling, trading, and just having a bunch of fun! If I could give 10 stars, I would! One of the most ethical, knowledgeable, and friendly guys in the Vintage Guitar business. Super easy transactions, super flexible, no nonsense, 100 % Happy! Thanks Craig and Patti! Enjoy the Carl Thompson Battle Bass ! It’s a killer piece of history 🙂 I’m Rick, from “Rick’s Vintage Guitars and Repairs”, and I approve Guitar Broker! lol 🙂
Very unique, one of a kind, vintage and rare Guitar experience. Expert knowledge and Greatn atmosphere. A must go when in Ft Lauderdale Florida.
Very rude, I called to ask a question and for whatever reason they don’t want to be helpful whatsoever. Don’t support this business
I Ordered a $2000 Bass Guitar From This Place.
It Arrived, I Plugged It Up, and NOTHING. No Signal. I Checked The Batteries, They We’re so Old, They We’re Swollen Out of Shape. I Replaced The Batteries, Got a Signal.
I Tried to Adjust The Sound, and Each Control Was Scratchy and Full of Static. I Sent It Back, at My Own Expense, and They Refused to Refund My Initial Shipping Cost.
Very Unprofessional, Rude and Inconsiderate.
I Will Never Spend Another Dime There.
– Go Shop Somewhere Else.

15. Piano Showcase Inc
Address: 2434 E Sunrise Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304 , Lauderdale-by-the-Sea , Florida , United States
Mark and the staff were extremely helpful and very knowledgeable. This was our first piano purchase and we felt very comfortable in good hands. I recommend them highly! Five Stars!
Amazing service and the team at Showcase are very nice and knowledgeable about pianos. They also helped us with an emergency Piano situation on the weekend. Can’t recommend them enough!!!
Thank you Mark and team! There was a minor issue with one of the keys that I noticed after delivery. Mark personally came back to my house to make sure it was fixed. If you buy from Mark, he’ll do what it takes to keep you a happy customer!
Edit: I was attempting to delete the original review after owner did call to apologize for his attitude and the fact that he’s having a bad day. However google doesn’t let you. He also did attempt to give 2 numbers to possibly assist on a repair. So I am adjusting my review to 4 stars
In regards to owner response below, being that your in a small business and that your search page reports repairs. It shouldn’t matter where a person made their purchase .
If you possibly change your mindset you could possibly have more business from such calls.
A variety of pianos both new and used, all the way up to a $100,000+ Schimmel; everyone was very helpful.
Though it may sound out of place, strategically placed chairs and a television kept my young son busy and let my friend relax while I was “in another world” looking at the pianos.
I had an upright I needed to store for a short while and chose PS after a brief internet search. Long story short I didn’t want to setup an auto pay with my debit card and unfortunately ended up missing a payment due to hurricane Irma soaking up my resources. Essentially I forgot I hadn’t paid and only realized I missed it when I received a statement at the end of the month reflecting a $125 late fee charged at $5/day. More than my monthly rate for storage. Granted I was late and forgot, I found that to be excessive. It should have a cap on it rather than charging indefinitely. I asked for a break on the charge and was flat out denied. Needless to say I paid up and got my piano out of there as soon as possible. Most I can say is make sure you understand their policy before doing business with them. Upon making arrangements to move the piano out at the beginning of the current month they had the nerve to tell me I wasn’t going to be charged for said month. What does that tell you?
Horrible experience, this is the worst piano shop in the area. Racist comments from rude salespeople, who think the customer is beneath them! Even more horrible attitude if they see you are an immigrant, who speaks with an accent. A complaint needs to be filed to BBB, and it will, eventually.
Mark is a cunning and deceptive man. Sold me a defective digital keyboard under false pretense. I would save the trouble and find business elsewhere.
Owner is Rude!!!!!!! Would never ever ever ever do business with this Jerk!

This place is great. Always superior quality and service. . Will be back soon to purchase my son’s new congas!!
Best Music store in Fort Lauderdale for all instruments great guitars and guitar repair shop just an awesome place to go just to look at the guitars keyboards and drums great prices and and amazing staff great place and people.
Some of the employees are not friendly. So sad being a customer for over 20 years.
We have a business relationship for over 20 years. Staff is knowledgeable about the musical equipment. And very personable with their customers.
Good musical equipment store with knowledgeable staff, many in the biz
Poor repair service
I brought my keyboard to fix and was trying to explain what was wrong with the piano but the answer me with actitud he is not the technician and, That I had to leave the piano so they can check it.they called me a the next week the piano is ready when I get there they charged me $220 I requested to check the piano before I go home And, the hadn’t fixed. Then they kept the piano for over a month and then called me saying the the mother board needs to be replace , and just the mother boad cost $500 plus labor . I do not recommend this place to have you equipment fixed.
We arrived 20 minutes before closing. The store hostess was great. we told her what we needed and she directed us toward the back left area to wait. 2 “men” arrived about 20 seconds apart and didn’t ask if we needed help. they walked off talking together. Someone announced over a loud speaker that the store will close in 15 minutes. One of the “men” came back and asked “what do you want? we’re closing”. No way could this be considered great customer service. Nunca jamás!
Antiques and Jewelry By The Sea is an eclectic shop that sells unusual very reasonably priced jewelry. They collect all sorts of items. Jewels of rare antiquity (Roman glass ring set in gold during the Victorian era) , vintage signed pieces (Kutchinsky, Tiffany & Co., Ruser), rare custom pieces (Cartier) . They also have a an unusual display of antique ivory items as well as vintage quality costume jewelry. Something for everyone!
I had spotted the Roman glass ring on eBay and since the shop is local I called AAJBTS to inquire. Samantha and Joy opened their shop for a private viewing during the COVID August 2021 pandemic. Such a great experience. So many fabulous finds! It’s a gem box by the sea! I learned so much from Samantha who is a well versed expert in jewelry. .
Beautiful small store with all kinds of wonderful items, a shopper’s dream for a designer!
Good place for old stuff!
19. 7-Six The Vacation Supply Company
Address: 4405 N Ocean Dr, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308 , Lauderdale-by-the-Sea , Florida , United States
Need more variety in the clothes, but the prices and beach gear give it 4 stars for me.
They have good stuff, things could be a little pricey but worthy. Amy assisted me to find the right things I was looking for. Very friendly lady.
You should not shop here, they kicked me and a bunch of my friends for no reason. They told us to leave because we didn’t have shoes and I said “jesus didn’t have shoes” because I am a faithful Christian women and she almost pushed me I ran and almost got hit by a car. I would not recommend this place.
If I could give this place a zero I would. Super rude owners or whoever was working behind the desk. They have no bedside manners And that’s extremely important when owning a business. Especially when you depend on the public to keep your doors open. I’m pretty sure I saw a roach crawling across their floor too. I highly that you go down the street to Wings. It’s a smaller business and they really appreciate their customers
I would suggest avoiding this place all together unless you appreciate being disrespected by extremely rude personnel and treated like a piece of $#!+.
I wouldn’t buy anything from this store if it was the last item on this planet. As a matter of fact, I tried to buy things. I DID buy things. I had completed my transaction action and was about to leave when the manager grabbed my bag and yelled that I had only paid for one of (the 2) items. My receipt clearly showed I paid for 2 items. She refused to give me my bag with what I had purchased and had a death grip on my receipt. I had to practically rip the receipt out if her hands to have my copy. She refused to give me my bag with what I had already purchased because she wanted more money.
I refunded/canceled the transaction and left with nothing. I wouldn’t have taken the items if she would have given them to me at this point. They can keep everything in that store as far as I’m concerned.
I should have read all of the other negative reviews about this place before setting foot inside.
Heed the warning, folks! There are too many other places to shop around here (LBTS) than to support a business where the employees, specifically the manager, treat people like this. ✌
