A wide selection of instruments and gear with an equally knowledgeable and helpful crew employees. Jordan was the guy who helped me pick out my guitar and he was very insightful and patient to my spending 2 hours in there trying out every type of electric guitar.
Wonderful…
People filling the store with music …videos playing on the large screens music legends
top of the line instruments of every kind and even some that can’t be found anywhere else
I hope Sam Ash continues to provide the kind of customer service that has fallen by the wayside in many instances.
Five-star is not enough ..thank you for the experience of walking into a place where your welcome at the front door coming in and going out

Friendly employees, helpful, gave me a discount because the Euphonium was tarnished. I love my new horn! Jean-Baptiste compensating Euphonium 🙂
Great selection and great service.
Good selection of instruments
No Gibson Acustic gutairs wanted a j45
Used to be a great place to go browse.. now it’s like walking onto a used car lot.. within ten minutes I had 6 people asking if they could show me anything, one guy asking me twice.. I was only planning on buying a guitar stand, but was so annoyed I went elsewhere….
Use the excuse they own the company to screw you on a guitar you bought from them 9 months earlier . Brought in as a test and they failed a guitar should not lose half its value in 9 months if you sell it as your brand!
Edit: This review was written over ten years ago but a small edit and it has now posted as recent. Not sure why but that’s not why I’m writing this edit here. This review being posted prompted a manager from Sam Ash to contact my father (who has the same name as me) to try and address whatever issue prompted the negative review. My father called me to let me know and told me the manager would like me to call him. Well… I’ve called around 6 times now and can’t get through, it simply hangs up on me after pressing #2 for a manager. I decided to give the 1-800# a call to see if they could connect me to the New Haven store manager because it kept hanging up on me. Guess what? Twice I called the 1-800#, twice they hung up. At this point it’s comical. I don’t even really remember what my issue was when I wrote this review but things must not be any better down there at Sam Ash since I can’t even contact anyone. Keep up the great work guys.
Original Review:
“You want a real review then look no further. When you walk into Sam Ash it is like walking into a garage sale. Used products trying to be pawned off with brand new retail prices. Almost everything I purchased from Sam Ash had to be returned or replaced. Customer Service hah! Forget about it. Some preemie-punk band wannabees who know only what their 1978 computer programmed screen tells them on how low they can go without making a commision. If you are a novice they will clean your wallet without even blinking! Do not buy into their trade-in program HUGE let down. They will not take anything!! You are better off going to the local pawn shop with your gear. I brought in a workstation worth triple what I was trying to trade for and they looked as confused as George Bush at a press conference and still would not trade. Do not waste your time with this Flea Market! Do yourself a favor and make the extra trip to Guitar Center or if you need orchestra instruments see your local music shop you will be 100% better off. I am a 25+years musician and HAVE NOT and DO NOT work at any music store so what you read is the truth do with it what you want.”
2. Goldie & Libro Music Center
Address: 380 Washington Ave #1, North Haven, CT 06473 , Lleida , Connecticut , United States
When my son was playing the trumpet throughout his school career, we often went to Goldie and Libro for service on his trumpet and other needs. The professionalism and kindness which we encountered was unequaled. Mr. Libro consistently gave my son time, attention, and encouragement. In addition, he went out of his way on several occasions to help out during emergency situations when my son‘s trumpet was not working properly. Mr. Libro truly loves music but, he loves his customers even more. It was indeed a pleasure doing business with him over the years and I recommend this business without hesitation or reservation.
They are a top notch company that explained everything in detail and called for approval before doing any additional work. I will be using them in the future for all me music/ instrument needs and services.
Great customer service.
I do Not recommend this place to anyone. The owner of the shop was very rude. When my card declined for some reason he announced it very loadly to everyone and when I gave them my second card he hoped my card was working this time.
Steer clear of this place!
They were supposed to call me with the cost of the repairs to see if I would authorized them. It took them 12 days to call me back and tell me that they have repaired the instrument. They made repairs WITHOUT authorization, then I had no choice but to pay for the work. The service was terrible, it took too long, they went ahead without my authorization and I got stock with the bill.
If possible, will NEVER again do business with this place. I am already giving my business to the “Music Center” near by.
I had a few questions so I called this place. The jackass who answered the phone, I’m assuming is the owner. Made me feel stupid and discouraged me from trying to play the instrument I was inquiring about.
3. Greenwich Music
Address: 1200 E Putnam Ave, Riverside, CT 06878 , Lleida , Connecticut , United States
Bought a PRS SE guitar from them online. It was priced lower than other stores with the exact same guitar. It got to me quickly and it was boxed well. Very friendly customer service. I would certainly purchase from them again.
If you live in the area, this is the best place to go. Joe is knowledgeable, caring, and just a great person. He has helped my three children with instrument rentals, purchases, repairs, and lessons for all my years in Greenwich. His staff is wonderful and are always happy to help. Please don’t overthink this one…just go see Joe at Greenwich Music!
We were kindly helped in the store, but we were buying a guitar for our son and we don’t live in the US. We were having problems with internet so we couldn’t research correctly at the moment, but they assured that the amp could be used in 220 current. We arrived home and we connected the amp and it didn’t work. So the amp was burned. Apart from that the price was a bit higher than the same thing in other stores, it’s not nice to pay 50 dollars more, but that is just business and anyone can charge what they want. It was our fault that we didn’t do a good research before buying. But the very kind person that assured us that it would work because he used to be an electrician, and it only needed a basic adapter, was totally wrong and now we are home and we lost an amp, so we paid extra for the set and it didn’t work. You were very kind indeed, but please if you are not sure about something, don’t sell it. Because we lost money and we can’t go back because we don’t live there.
It’s a nice place! It’s a bit small but otherwise it’s nice.
Rudest customer service I have ever encountered. The man I spoke to on the phone yelled and hung up on me. When my daughter went in person to drop off the instrument for repair at the agreed upon time, he remained upset and kicked my daughter out of the store. Strongly encourage anyone looking to have their instruments fixed to look elsewhere. Disappointing experience to say the least.
Terrible customer service. Called and said I would be by in 10 minutes for an emergency repair. Guy was nice on the phone. When I arrived 5 minutes early they had closed up and locked. Super helpful…
Their hours aren’t very convenient and I was having a guitar strung and I dropped it off and I didn’t get a call before the store closed and then they were closed the next day Sunday so I didn’t get my guitar until Monday and that was extremely inconvenient. They also have a very small selection of basses.Update, they aren’t even open a couple hours on the 4th of July so I won’t get my guitar till Tuesday I am very upset with this store.
4. Creative Music Center
Address: 701 Main St, Monroe, CT 06468 , Lleida , Connecticut , United States
Nice music store in Monroe, we bought a cute ukulele here!
All of the staff, from folks at the register to the instructors to the director of music education, are professional and knowledgeable, with a warm welcome to boot!
My daughter loves her piano lessons at Creative Music Center.
Terrible, definitely wouldn’t recommend it to anyone in this planet or another. I originally paid through Groupon just to see if the classes worked out for my son. I paid for 45 mins and they only gave me 30mins classes for my son ,that should of been the 1st red flag. But then they make you sign a paper and they ask you to put a credit card info even though I paid for the 1st month in full. So we tried that 1st month and decided it wasn’t for my son,he didn’t like it.so then I thought I was done with this establishment and they kept charging me even though I was done with them clearly, scammers.terrible customer service!
Rude. Terrible service. man had no knowlege of his products and prices were too high
Poor customer service.
5. Giuliano’s Music
Address: 406 Westport Ave, Norwalk, CT 06850 , Lleida , Connecticut , United States
Bobby and staff are awesome! Took my PRS in for a fret job. The guitar is phenomenal! I used to frequent his father’s shop in White Plains when I was a kid. Great to have these guys local! Thanks Bobby!
Bobby fixed a complicated BC Rich for me when other guitar repair shops scratched there heads.Hes real easy to get along with and I know from experience hes the best your gonna find.
Awesome little shop. My favorite bass hadn’t had a proper set up in 14 years. I dropped it off with Bobby and he worked his magic on it. It plays better than it did when I first bought it. Definitely my go-to place for instrument repairs now.
Good service, very nice staff and management!
Everyone was insanely helpful from who I spoke to on the phone for customer support, to the guy that helped me out when I came to pick up the amp in store. Giuliano’s Music takes care of its customers. Will definitely be returning for anything else I need in the future.
I went needing a pack of guitar strings to find out that they were closed. Their hours online say 12-4 on Saturday. Their door said the same. Lights off no one answered the phone. The time I went you ask? 3:25. EDIT:I have since gone back and they have been very nice and kind. Which has let me to update my rating.
6. JC Music
Address: 529 W Main St, Meriden, CT 06451 , Lleida , Connecticut , United States
Overall, excellent service and very friendly people. I have had positive experiences every time I needed something or had to sell something with their consignment program. Very simple and easy. I would highly recommend it to anyone!
JC Music is the place to go for anything music oriented! Whether you are looking for strings or string music…or just want to learn how to play the instrument you’ve always wanted…go see JC Music! Knowledgeable staff, great teachers, and the highest quality instruments you need!
My daughter has been taking violin lessons here for two years and absolutely loves it! Piano lessons are coming next for her and drum lessons for our son…JC Music is where we’ll be going!
Great establishment with a helpful staff and reasonable prices. I was here last week, and JC was very helpful walking me through all the options for a new set of coated strings for my acoustic guitar — they have a large selection of strings, so the guidance was useful. I hear the lessons here are high quality, and I plan to return here to get my violin ‘tuned’ up.
Would like to obtain some nice brushes and some type of top hat set used and very sturdy since I break percussion instruments all the time when I perform?
My son, Roberto Luis and Rosa live in Meriden. Are you far from the mall? I have spent a lot of time jamming in Puerto Rico to salsa, merengue, etc but my favorite is funk like Buddy Miles.
My grandson really enjoyed the music lessons and they are very professional and knowledgeable. Highly recommend them.
This was a horrible expierence. They need to get their stuff together, they had already-sold instruments on shelf. They had an amazing guitar sale and when I went to buy, it was already sold! They got my hopes high and let it down and I will not give them my money any longer.
Never have any of the literature or instrument parts I’m looking for. Took 3 months to repair a trombone. I tried to return an item and they wouldn’t give me back the cash to go to another place. The owner has blatantly disrespected my mother on several occasions and doesn’t have much knowledge of much of anything outside of rock music. As far as i’m concerned, this is the worst music store i’ve ever set foot in and would not recommend to anybody.
Completely disappointed. I placed an order in store on a instrument that was never placed with JC music. The customer service was poorly displayed and the options they gave us was not acceptable. I asked to speak to the owner several times and would not get on the phone and made his new employee talk to me. I ended up going somewhere else that was amazing
7. Bethel Music Center – Instrument Sales, Rentals, Lessons and Repairs
Address: 273 Greenwood Ave #101, Bethel, CT 06801 , Lleida , Connecticut , United States
The People at Bethal Music Have always been unbelievable in finding any Quest i have been looking for. Super Friendly and Knowledgeable in all catagories. it has been a pleasure working with the the entire staff at Bethal Music.
This place is great! It is well run with a staff that cares about delivering a great customer experience. I’m very impressed!
Fantastic folks at BMC! Skilled lutgiers as well.
Good info from employees
Instrument rentals are great for their prices
Just stopped by quick. Had a great hour. They are the best
8. Woodbury Music Shop
Address: 766 Main St S, Woodbury, CT 06798 , Lleida , Connecticut , United States
Woodbury Music is the best shop around of all of your instrument needs! The shop owner Dave, is both friendly & knowledgeable! I have gotten both common things done (fixing of saxophone keys) as well as unusual things done (fixing of a dulcimer bridge) and everyone has always been great! I have also taken lessons for almost three years now, and my teacher Mike is not only a dedicated teacher, but also a very talented professional. Stop by and check it out!
A hidden gem UPSTAIRS. Don’t miss it. Dave the owner is great, and talented. Patrick Gill is the PREMIER guitar TECH in the whole northwest CT region. He works miracles at a very fair price. Excellent teachers, Will for piano and keyboards and Mike for guitar and bass. Better check them out. I only trust my guitars to Dave and Patrick. Won’t go anywhere else. Seriously.
Great honest shop here. Had a great online interaction with Dave via email. Want to know why I trust them? Because they talked me out of a purchase. Ha! Thanks again!
9. Music Center of North Haven Llc
Address: 473 Washington Ave, North Haven, CT 06473 , Lleida , Connecticut , United States
Mark is a very charismatic person who will go out of his way to help you in any music situation, from renting or buying an instrument, to lessons and more…
I walked into the store on a mission to see if any ukulele sheet music was there, to give to a friend of mine. I walked out with a brand new LUNA acoustical guitar.
Jared (?) at the register gave me much advice. Part of the purchase was a sort of “tune up” given by the owner. The owner was not there on the day of purchase but gladly accommodated me a few days later. He tweaked the neck a little which gave the guitar some unbelievable action.
Nothing but great service at this place!
We’ve been going to the Music Center for years, and the owners are consistently great people. They also have incredibly trained and talented teachers.
Super friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Great place to get music!!
Great place. Definitely stop in.
This is a review for the musical forest cafe. I wish I could have enjoyed the food at this place, but this business is a mess. I came here a month ago on a Tuesday and they were closed out of the blue, so they granted me a 10% discount coupon for my trouble. I decided to give this place a try once again today so I called in advanced, but no one picked up the phone. I then googled their hours and noticed it said they opened at noon (I tried calling at 11:00 a.m.) but that they were opened today. To be completely sure about that, I checked their facebook page that stated, in fact, that they were open. When I arrived to the restaurant the owner greated me and stated that they have been closing on Fridays for the past 9 months and that I should have checked their facebook page prior to coming in here (REALLY?!). After explaining to him that I DID checked facebook he apologized and said he will change the facebook hours for his restaurant and offered to give me another discount coupon. I didn’t even bothered to take the coupon and left very disappointed by the lack of reliability and professionalism of this place and won’t ever be coming back. Places like this just reinforced my belief that going out of business is a conscious effort and wouldn’t be surprised if this happened to this cafe in the near future.
UPDATE: To clarify, the small bag of “trash” was a small bag of shirts and pants that were out grown and not trash which the owner stated several times and now denies. He also forgets that I was sitting there in my car for several minutes trying to figure out what the poorly sprayed wording actually stated or if it was just covering up something and i even took out the clothes in the bag and showed it to him but he didn’t care and continued to argue with me. Again, I had donated to this location before it was deemed abandoned and was accused repeatedly to get my trash out of there. I did go down the street and donated the clothes to Goodwill. The issue I have is how the owner handled the situation and the accusations that were thrown at me even when confronted with the proof that they were wrong and I was clearly trying to donate a small amount of clothes and left when asked. Move this very prominent former donation bin to the back our your lot or put a proper sign up, chain close the handle or just politely tell someone its closed.
This music center used to have a clothing donation bin out front which I have donated to many times before. It has since been painted over with illegible spray paint saying bin closed. I was standing by the bin trying to figure out what the writing said and employee came out and screamed at me to take my trash somewhere else and was extremely rude shouting at me like I was doing something illegal. He told me to bring my trash to Goodwill. Would never bring my kids here for their music needs with staff like this.
Guitar tech could not look at my guitar because he busy making egg sandwiches.
10. Westbury Music
Address: 686 Main St, Watertown, CT 06795 , Lleida , Connecticut , United States
I’ve been utilizing Westbury music for rentals or over 10 years. They are knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. They are no more costly than any other instrument rental company around. They have always been there to suggest options for my children and their interests.
Staff is very friendly and knowledgable.
Ordered instrument for my son, was told to pick up the next day, went the following day to pick it up and it wasn’t there. Also bought a box of reefs for the instrument and was given the wrong kind. The gentleman that waited on us was polite, although he didn’t recognize us even though we had just been in the day before!
excellent store, good Fender Selection, nice acoustics, lessons, and school instruments.
11. A Sound Choice
Address: 267 E Main St UNIT 3, Branford, CT 06405 , Lleida , Connecticut , United States
Awesome! Just went to Ken to get my Epiphone Dot adjusted and it sounds great. Also picked up a great gig bag for it. He’s outstanding and extremely knowledgeable. Also, lots of cool gear to pick from.
Ken is a good guy. Store has a lot of character, loved it. This was my first time ever doing business here. I brought in two guitars for setup and a guitar amp that needed some attention. Ken got everything all set for me in a couple days. Talk about fast service with very reasonable pricing. Next time I need service or want to shop around I will definitely be taking a trip to A Sound Choice.
Cool little music shop. Worth going and especially if you need a setup on your instrument.
When I can I prefer to spend my money at mom -n- pop businesses and A Sound Choice is a great guitar shop. Knowledgeable and they have a great selection of music making products. The corporate guitar stores don’t always hire staff that even know what a treble clef is so my advice is spend your money here.
Very convenient
12. The Music Shop
Address: 405 Queen St, Southington, CT 06489 , Lleida , Connecticut , United States
So during this pandemic we are dealing with I felt myself wanting to start jamming again. So with almost every retail store being closed and having to rely on online and waiting, (I’m not patient, lol) I took a shot to see if any guitar stores were possibly doing curbside in Ct. Found the music shop in southington,ct was doing curbside. Upon calling I spoke with Scott, great customer service!! After talking to Scott about my music style and and what I was looking for, within 20 mins I had received pictures and fell in love with what scott suggested. Normally when I buy a guitar, its multiple guitars i play and usually takes a couple hours to choose. Let me tell you scott nailed it!!!! The guitar, an ibanez art120 and a 75watt peavey amp with effects and cab sounds built in…and let me tell you both products are hands down amazing!!! On top of that within 20 mins he threw a new set of strings on and did a full setup!!!! Totally worth the hour and a half ride!!!! These guys rock, thanks again scott!!!!!!!
I’ve taken several guitars and basses here for setup and parts installation. The work is always top notch and they stand by it if something happens to go wrong. I’ve known Scott since I first picked up a guitar when they were at Caldor plaza (now Walmart). He actually helped my mom and I pick it out. I took lessons at the shop with an instructor named Mark right after that purchase. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone.
Brought in a trumpet with a stick mouth piece. They were very nice and were able to remove the mouth piece quickly. Great customer service!
Great place but website could be better such as pics of some used equipment. I’m a drummer and would like to see what they have for new and used cymbals, stands, drum kits etc. And prices. I have done business with them and always had a great experience the reason for three stars is the website doesn’t do the music shop justice. All and all great store great people.
The cellos were in not in good shape and we had to pay a luthiere to redo repairs that were poorly done when we received the instrument.
13. Music & Arts
Address: 1863 Post Rd, Fairfield, CT 06824 , Lleida , Connecticut , United States
Paul Fredericks has been giving my 10 year old son guitar lessons (at Fairfield Music & Arts) for a year now and I am amazed at how well my son both picks up new techniques and reads music. Paul has uncovered a hidden talent in him!
He is patient, thorough and my child loves working with him.
Every time my daughter needs her violin tuned this is the place to go. Chris was very nice and we were in and out of there in no time. Great service!!
I would highly recommend John Fitzpatrick for guitar lessons, he’s great! John is my daughter’s teacher. He does acoustic and electric.
She is always excited going to her lesson and John. He makes learning exciting and fun so she wants to practice everyday.
With the way John teaches her, I can see her progressing each lesson without struggling.
John is very nice, enthusiastic, and listens to what my daughter’s goals are. He plays acoustic, electric, and also does vocals.
Sales staff were not super knowledgable. We rented our son’s violin for school through them and billing was always an issue even though it was on monthly automatic payment. Glad the saga is over.
The prices are ok. The parking can be tough. The person working the desk was dismissive of my questions. Not a lot of inventory on display. They seem more about instruction.
Thank you for your service n attention. Thank guys for helping me to pick the perfect gift for my wife.
WARNING! WARNING TO PARENTS!! DO NOT USE THIS SHOP FOR RENTALS! Should be ZERO stars.
We rented from here for 5 years, the first 4 went off without a hitch. This year has been an absolute nightmare. We rented two instruments, same address, same name, same payment. ONE account had no issues, the other the local store put in the wrong address (where we have never lived). Over the last 4 months I have called their headquarters, left messages, emails, etc. trying to get a paper bill MAILED so that I could pay whatever was owed. They were incapable of sending this, and every time I called in could not even find the right account or would tell me everything was fine and they did not know why I was being contacted. When asked why they could not have looked at our other rental account for the correct information they were stunned into silence. Absolute incompetency from the sales staff all the way up to the billing department supervisor who assigned our missing “account” to a collections agency and then gave us the WRONG agency. Save yourself the trouble and stay far, far away from here.
Don’t rent any instrument from this place. People are very rude. Calling customer service takes forever to get someone on the phone. Unfriendly customer service, supervisors don’t want to talk to customers. Find another place to rent instruments for your children.
Very bad and rude customer service, hang up my phone.
14. DuBaldo Music Center
Address: 881 Main St, Manchester, CT 06040 , Lleida , Connecticut , United States
That was likely the most pleasant guitar buying experience I have ever had. I could not recommend patronizing this amazing store more. Thank you so much!!
Phenomenal shop that really personifies customer service! Pete is a great guy to deal and talk shop with. My guitar arrived safe, secure AND quickly. I can’t recommend DuBaldo enough, just give them a call or stop by already!
Prompt and professional! Recently purchased an SBMM Majesty guitar online and it came in perfect condition with Dubaldo only upgrades, Will definitely recommend them and will be making more purchases in the future. Thanks Dubaldo team!!
Great service
15. Matty’s Music LLC
Address: 654 Enfield St, Enfield, CT 06082 , Lleida , Connecticut , United States
Matt is a great music enthusiast whose recording and teaching skills are awesome!
Thanks Matt, you ROCK from the heart
Matty shares his knowledge of guitar repair to the extent of being fair about what he can actually do and not do to help you. He is honorable to share what you can do yourself to facilitate the repair.
Please support locally owned businesses.
Great service.
Dirty, stuff everywhere, completely disorganized.
16. Middlesex Music Academy
Address: 440 Main St, Middletown, CT 06457 , Lleida , Connecticut , United States
I had a last-minute emergency repair needed for my flute right before a performance, and the staff at Middlesex Music Academy were all so kind and helpful. They fixed my flute in record time, and walked me through the whole process with the highest of professionalism. Thank you so much!
Great service – they fixed my instrument while I waited, gave clear instructions on follow up care, and I was all set for my gig that night.
Yesterday we went in to rent an instrument for my 4th grader starting band and I can’t speak enough on how smooth and easy the process was! When we walked in we were greeted by Jim, who immediately knew everything we needed and even our band teacher by name (impressive!). Our son can tend to be a bit shy but the charm of this place seemed to make him feel right at home! If I had to I would say the whole interaction took all of about 10 minutes and we were on our way. Definitely recommending this place to anyone I know looking for help with an instrument, thanks again!
The sales team made it possible for me to afford a piano for my son
I paid $80 for a setup on a guitar and got it back with the strings a mile off of the neck and the floyd rose studs so high out of the body I could park a car under it. The bridge pickup was raised until it was practically touching the strings and the neck pickup was lowered to below the pickup ring. The tech then told me that 10-52 strings don’t exist. They’re light top heavy bottom and aren’t even uncommon strings. Every time I go there they give bad advice and clearly don’t know what they’re talking about. My friend tried to buy a tubescreamer (basic overdrive) and they tried to sell him a phaser instead (completely different thing).
I signed up for a piano lesson trial online. Their site is very confusing and it’s not clear if the lesson is in-person and online. I called them, left a message but they never called me back. In the day/time of the lesson, I called them 3 times because I was having problems to contact the teacher. The guy who works there, Jim, clearly doesn’t have any customer service skills. He was rude and unpleasant. He didn’t make any effort to help me, told me a was confused and nobody else had problems. I just canceled the future lessons there. It’s easier just hire a private piano teacher. Hopefully I will never have to deal with this guy again.
I would give Middlesex Music Academy a 0 if I was able to. I called to inquire about a $150 charge when I haven‘t been confirmed by John the guitar teacher. I made a request to Matt that Tuesday was my preference but John was booked so he scheduled Thursday at 6pm. I received a text and email from John yesterday that he had a conflict for Thursday and offered Friday. I responded via text/email that would not work and inquired if this was temporary or permanent to which I did not receive a response. I let John know this may not be a good fit then. I called today to have the charge refunded and Jim proceeded to call me names, saying I was yelling & screaming over the phone and I was being rude. No need to go into the dramatics but Jim needs a lesson in manners, telling the truth and understanding that being a manager does not give him the authority to behave poorly. Never once did I raise my voice but did correct Jim several times throughout the conversation all because i asked for a refund. Extremely unprofessional and a bad look for Middlesex Music all around. I will be taking my business elsewhere. Inexcusable & theater worthy performance by Jim today folks!!!
17. Brian’s Guitars
Address: 453 W Main St, Cheshire, CT 06410 , Lleida , Connecticut , United States
If you’re looking for an honest dealer with exceptional customer service then this is the one you want to work with. I live half way across the country and even though I’ve never met the guys in person they have always treated me as family. I made a small order for a set of guitar picks and Dan worked with me as though I had just placed an order for a $20k private stock PRS. So what did I do? I bought some floor pedals. Then they helped me sell an artist package guitar towards a Mayones they had in their shop. Then I bought a PRS private stock. This has been one of the best buying experiences I’ve ever had. The team is trustworthy, honest and most importantly they care. This is a shop full of people who are passionate about music, but most importantly people. As a consumer I have A LOT of options when I want to buy gear, but Brian’s will continue to receive my business every single time.
Honestly…I can’t think of a better shop, with a better inventory, and with a better crew. Everyone, and I mean everyone there, comes across as incredibly down to earth, personable, and knowledgeable. I won’t shop anywhere else.
BUYER BEWARE: If you’re shopping used online, call ahead and ask them to send you updated pictures of the instrument before you buy.
I just purchased a used guitar online, from Brian’s Guitars. It sounds and looks great.
HOWEVER: the pictures and listing posted online were not accurate. The listing said “near mint” condition. The pictures showed all the tags and plastic seals on the components still intact. When I received the guitar, all the seals were gone. There were scuffs on the pickguard, and there was a screw completely missing near the volume/tone knobs. After an email exchange, I learned that the pictures were posted from when the guitar was new. Still, why was a screw missing?
I may have scored a guitar at a sweet deal, but now my confidence is shook. Even though everything sounds fine, I’m left wondering if a screw was removed to mess around with the internal components. I’ll get that checked out, but given the inaccurate listing, I’m not sure if I would buy from Brian’s Guitars again.
Love the layout and they have beautiful guitars. However, customer service is lacking. I advice those that are interested in buying a high-end guitar and enjoy collecting these musical art pieces to look elsewhere as I was told so rudely. Especially if you are a minority. The stereo typing is real!. If you think this is a rant of someone that is not able to afford this level of guitars, well, think again. I have a small collection that keeps growing of high-end to medium range guitars, bass guitars , and amps. I Hope this helps someone that does not want to be profiled while shopping for their next piece of happiness.
I recently had a vintage bass repaired and appraised here. I left it with them to have the electronics fixed and a general setup done. I got a call that the guitar was ready to be picked up a few weeks later, but had to remind them to also do the appraisal.
I get the bass home and the jack is incredibly noisy. I called and was told that they would make it right at no cost. I take the bass back and the tech puts a new jack in. They still charged me $10 for the jack, the making it right part only included the labor (about ten minutes). I couldn’t care less about $10, but making an extra trip out (about half hour from my home) to have something fixed that should have been done in the first place, guarantees I will never go back here or recommend it to anyone.

I bought a Maton guitar from Blue Bus. Excellent service, excellent product. I am highly satisfied and will go back to them for my future purchases.
my husband has been getting guitar lessons here for years, since they were in katonah. the owners and instructors are wonderful and the prices are very reasonable, particularly if you buy a package.
Just bought a Maton BB1200JH from this wonderful place. Old school customer service in the best way.
Nice looking small shop with an interesting selection of off brand guitars. I always like when the smaller shops aren’t afraid to stock higher end gear. The selection of acoustic guitars especially. The pedal section could use some fleshing out.
Bought a Maton guitar ….. company doesn’t have a clue on how to set a guitar up….. I have purchased no less then 50 guitars been playing for 50 years…. this company shouldn’t be allowed to sell guitars much less Maton .
Needed one string for my son violin rental. The lady was trying to sell me on a pack of strings that I do not need.

Very helpful and patient. Went to do an instrument rental and they sized everything and had all the necessary items in stock. Happy to support a local music store!
Low cost repairs. fast, convenient respectful
Great guys my son is just starting to learn how to play instruments his friend damaged his brass and they where able to take care of everything and had it back the next day in time for him to have it at school for music class
It’s okay.
Nice guy and great service so far!
My grandma brought two ukuleles here to be repaired before she passed away. They were from the 1940s and held a lot of sentimental value for me, as they were the first instrument I ever learned to play on. After she passed away, a family member went to retrieve them and the store conveniently had “no record” of them. Scammers and low lifes.
Not bad.
terrible repairment

Address: 167 Main St, Seymour, CT 06483 , Lleida , Connecticut , United States
Well I needed to bring my New guitar to a professional to have it looked at an adjusted I guess the right word is Setup. I called around to several Big box stores but although they said they were trained I didn’t get that warm secure feeling of trust with my ne baby a 2019 Gibson Les Paul Standard High Preformance with a Bluebury burst finish to die for …
Well I was just about to run down to one of the big box stores but then while using Google came up with a little Guitar shop called Guitar Fixer Bob in Seymour ,CT. I read his credentials and who and how many years he had under his belt along with some well know Rock and Roll guitar hero’s he had for customers and I was sold I need to talk to this man. I called him up and even though he had a back logg (that’s always a good sign of great work) I got him to see me. Let me tell you the man is a perfectionist! What a subperb setup… I thought he was just going to throw on a new set of strings, tune it and be done after all this was brand new guitar from Gibson right….way wrong ! He spent two hours going over every little detail. Even found a missing screw in the nut mounting I had the Dealer on the phone but we found it in the case in a crevasse wow thank God!
Take your guitars to Bob don’t be penny wise and pound foolish going to the big box stores who would of just played it and sent me on my way. Bob when through everything, tweaked the neck adjusted the bridge and stopbar tailpiece oiled the neck adjusted the Nut and place back in the missing screw (it was very small the size of a pin head I never would have seen it missing) what a professional luthier. Lessons learned you get what you paid for at Guitar Fixer Bob LLC YOU ROCK my friend!
Bob was great to deal with, he was very informative on the phone and seemed truly passionate about his work. I decided to bring in my 7 String for a fret grind/polish – this guitar is a beast, locking trem system and stainless steel frets. I play with the lowest action I can get away with I was thrilled with Bob’s work, the frets are so smooth and I cant find a low/high spot anywhere, he also cleaned up the fret ends
Highly recommend. \../-_-\../
My first guitar needed a complete fret replacement. A 1966 Guild . So who do you take it to? It only takes one word Experience. After talking to Bob on the phone, I knew he would and did a great job. Don’t be fooled by a small shop. This Luthier is an expert. I am quite pleased with his work.
