Heaven on earth
Great beach great fishing and the best food around Mango Marley’s never yes us down
Great family beach
The beach was beautiful. We had a great time
. Even though the city is still working on recovery from hurricane Michael in 2018 the beach looked amazing.
Se está recuperando aún del ciclón, gente que quiere ayudarte a pasar un buen momento
Hermoso
Because of the ride tide algey, there were dead fish along the shore. But the sand felt amazing between my toes. It was pure white and the scene was beautiful ❤️
Esla primera ves que vengo de vacaciones
Finally put my feet in the gulf
Stopped by this afternoon – bathrooms closed for no reason . Guy ( employee with shirt ) outside smoking – not what I expect – won’t give my money where I can’t use the bathroom —- good luck seasons fast coming to a close soooooooo I’m a local and will spend money where I feel welcome I don’t here
3. Playground Music Center
Address: 27 Harrison Ave, Panama City, FL 32401 , Mexico Beach , Florida , United States
Awesome staff.. Very knowledgeable. Clean store and fair prices. Will come back for any music related needs for sure
Excellent, outstanding client service. Definitely a customer advocate. Unlike the other guitar store that treats their customers sub human. Home town feel for the home town person. Thanx Playground Music
I can not express how amazing this company is. Always extremely helpful. Thier customer service is always top notch. 5 stars isn’t enough. They are also extremely affordable!!!!!
I had an amazing first impression days ago, but today was all the contrary.
They make me feel really bad as a person.
Never judge a book by its cover.
Very knowledgeable and professional
Local favorite. Been there as long as I can remember. Never been inside but had my share of poor boy window shopping dreams.
I’ve had a few dealings with this establishment over the past 10 years and overall am not very happy. The first time, I had them refurbish my wife’s mid-level flute, which I believe they contracted out to another location in the FL panhandle. The service rendered it playable again, but the technician scratched the silver in a few places. More recently we rented a French horn from them for my son. After a year, they would aggressively solicit us by phone and text to upgrade the rental to a nicer horn (at a rate of over $150/month). They continuously addressed me by the wrong surname and/or salutation even after I offered corrections. Furthermore, they mislead my wife and I about the credit we would acquire through rental towards the potential purchase of an instrument. This benefit is extremely limited and restrictive! The guys working in the shop were nice and helpful, so I have to believe that all of this is really an issue with management/ownership. That said, I can’t recommend them as a good music store.
Update: Thank you for your response. Just to clarify, I understand the cost of these instruments quite well. My wife and I just do not feel like a 7th grader is worthy of an instrument that retails for roughly $5-6k and felt that the sales calls were far too pushy. With regard to the flute incident, this happened many years ago, and I did reach out to you by phone. I was transferred to the repair technician, who explained that the cause of the damage was difficulty in disassembling the keys. No offer was made to polish or repair the scratches at that time, and I’m not even sure if this could be realistically done.
I have called Lamar’s person # that was given. me by the school Numerous times, as if this date, I have not received any form of response. Initially we went to band night ordered starter kit. Finally ended up going to Metro Music. They were very helpful. I now have everthing needed.
So bad my child had to experience a bad start to something that is so wonderful . Go to Metro Music, or their other affiliates, you’ll be happier.
Accounting department is lacking. Starting with their company rep incorrectly completing Rental Agreement, billing errors (which I called to correct), followed by their text messages threatening repossession without the courtesy of a phone call has led yo more headache than it’s worth.
4. Austin Music Co
Address: 17226 Panama City Beach Pkwy, Panama City Beach, FL 32413 , Mexico Beach , Florida , United States
I came in 5 minutes before they closed was greeted warmly and shown around the prices are very reasonable and the staff is soo friendly would highly reccomend!!
The instructors are incredible! Personal and knowledgeable. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Needs variety
The lessons are expensive $30 for 30 minutes I don’t recommend it but I mean it’s good
Good selection of instruments and knowledgeable staff. It is a nice touch that they are involved in the local community as well.
Went in to purchase strings, was charged double the price for them. Next time I will get them online, put a end to that kind of crazy happening again.
I used to go before the ownership change to have my violin serviced. I went to the counter and talked to Seth and I left wanting to cry. When I opened my case he picked up my violin then out of the blue asked if I wanted him to take off the finger tape. He said he didn’t like his students using it since it was a crutch. I said no thanks I like having it and he said “oh… ok” in a very judging and condescending tone. He then asked how much I paid for it (super disrespectful and unnecessary?) and when I told him he scoffed and said he wouldn’t have paid half of that. He then proceeded to turn over my violin and point out every imperfection (something about the bridge being too high, fingerboard not angled properly, and spots of varnish). He said it looked “haphazard” and was shocked I paid that. This was a violin I’ve had for years, absolutely love, and that my parents worked hard to afford. I was too shell shocked to take the violin back from him and leave, and after all the insults Seth said “it seems fine you don’t need service” then asked if I wanted lessons from him. The audacity?? At least he didn’t try to sell me stuff I suppose. I know this is a small business and I hate to not show support but like I said before I left in tears and with a horrible experience. I can’t recommend this store and especially not Seth for your classical instrument needs. I don’t understand how anyone can stand him for a lesson, I’ve never met a more condescending person in the customer service industry.
5. Lookout Lounge & Package
Address: 8066 W Hwy 98, Port St Joe, FL 32456 , Mexico Beach , Florida , United States
Been coming to the Lookout off and on for years and always have a wonderful time. Friendliest staff and location is perfect for me because it is across the street from my favorite laying out spot! Prices are reasonable and drinks are great!
Great prices and selection!
Great little place…
Great people
Great atmosphere and stiff drinks on the Beach. Nice hospitality for tourists and Locals and can get a little wild on the Poop deck
Goid drinks
Just drove by where it used to be before hurricane Michael….
Very disappointed. I understand it’s Spring Break, but jeez. I went with a friend to grab a drink and just relax. The bartender accused me of being underage, and treated my friend like she was 12. I am not underage and neither was my friend. I have no problem showing my ID but accusing me of having a fake ID really threw me off.
We were respectful, dressed appropriately and just wanted to hang out. She told us we had to sit outside and we better not “do anything stupid” and try to share drinks. Ridiculous treatment and I will not be back for a while.
I tried
6. El Governor RV Park
Address: 1700 US-98, Mexico Beach, FL 32456 , Mexico Beach , Florida , United States
I’ve never stayed here but always stop by for a boat drink and to enjoy the ambience
Friendly town .Friendly atmosphere. Love Love Love It.
Was a wonderful stay. Wiley at the front desk was great and treated my kids like family. Had an issue with the a/c in our room, which can be a problem with a baby and a toddler. They had it fixed within 25 minutes from the first phone call. The rooms were very clean and well stocked. Even included utensils and dishes for 4. Everything in the kitchenette worked well. And we had a beautiful view of a very clean beach from out balcony and a less than 3 minute walk from the room. The hotel was a very quiet and very pleasant stay.
Stayed at RV side . great location , across street from beach. The sites are tight and rocky but do able. The hurricane recovery around is still going on but it’s looking good. I would stay again
Great place for a weekend stay.
Sure the rooms are a little old but over all its very nice and clean. Wonderful views and beaches. Plus the fishing is pretty good.
gravel parking lot right next to the highway
It was nice that the park was walking distance to the best beach in the south!!!!
The staff was very friendly!!
But the campsites are too close to and our campsite 34 was a bit hard to back into…
The campsite had big rocks that made it hard to walk on, ..
The showers ,bathrooms and laundry is well kept, very clean.
Looking forward to the queen to open back up… not leaving a nasty review, just posting my opinion..
May God continue to bless
Lived there almost 2 years! Then you get rid of all the full timers! We paid your bills year around. Tommy and Deneice Tanner
WE WILL NOT BE BACK. Good look with your 4 month stays. All your campers that were full time are gone, not coming back
7. Killer Seafood
Address: 820 US-98, Mexico Beach, FL 32456 , Mexico Beach , Florida , United States
So beautiful! Great authentic, very fresh food! Played corn hole to fun exciting music right on the beach! Inexpensive for the quality and area. Loved it! Cant wait to go back! Craving it now!
Stronger Than The Storm 2020 was held at the Killer Seafood parking lot today. The food, not all of which was from KS, was excellent. The KS building was destroyed in the hurricane, but the trailer they currently use works fine. I have had their fish tacos, and they can’t be beat. Good food, good people, I’m hoping the get back to pre hurricane shape soon.
I really enjoyed eating here, I personally got the shrimp tacos and wasn’t super impressed. However, my friend got the soft shell crab and that was delicious! The fries were really great and the environment was super homey feeling!
Quick and easy. Very tasty.
came from wisconsin. some lady working at an antique store mentioned this place to us and im glad she did. 4/8 of us had the fish tacos and we ate every last bite. well worth it. they should consider adding another taco for an extra dollar or so.
Wasn’t very impressed with my plate I received from this place. I ordered the fried red snapper basket with fries and coleslaw. The one piece of fish and fries were extra fried! The serving of coleslaw consisted of maybe 2-3 bites. The service was great though!
It pains me to write this critical review. Killer’s was great a few years ago. But I could barely eat what I ordered. Got the original Killer’s tuna tacos. They come with slaw and cheese on them. I got mine on corn tortillas. There was SO MUCH mayonnaise on top of the slaw with MORE mayo in it, on top of waaaay too much bagged shredded cheese, on top of bland, overcooked tuna. I couldn’t even tell the tuna was there because of the excessive mayo, slaw, and cheese piled on top. So I scraped it off. Didn’t really help because the tuna had ZERO seasoning. Dry, no flavor–just so bland. So I swapped with my husband to try his po boy. Again, so bland and unseasoned. Hush puppies were pretty decent though. Key lime pie was okay, just super sweet. I’m sorry, Killer’s! That was a pricey meal for the quality.
The food tasted good, but the portions were extremely small and price was way too high. I ordered the soft shell crab basket special and a 12 oz coke. I received 2 baby soft shells, 3 jalapeno poppers and a tiny side of slaw. Was charged $20 for this pathetic lunch
8. Dollar General
Address: 8250 W Hwy 98, Port St Joe, FL 32456 , Mexico Beach , Florida , United States
Great option for low priced groceries in Mexico Beach.
Great place to get house hold items, healthy choices and friendly service.
Thanks!
Great Store, They have Everything you need.
Store messy and didn’t have much of what I needed…workers were friendly.
First, I want to say a big thank you to the staff who work here. They put up with a lot from the tourist crowds, cramped aisles, over-stocked merchandise, and lack of employees. I’ve even seen them work when the AC was out in the Florida heat. I love them and I love having a neighborhood store.
That being said, DG tries to cram too much in this store. They could leave out all the home decor that hangs on the wall, garden decor, and 10 foot of shelves for coffee mugs. If DG would get rid of the junk, it would be much easier for employees to stock, they would have more time with less product, and the aisles could be more spacious. The store would have a much better appearance overall and attract more customers.
Good prices
Very unfriendly
Terrible! One employee working. Customers lined up almost to the front door. Easy shoplifting if you’re into that.
Worst dollar general in Florida. Used to open at 7 am prior to hurricane Michael. Now it opens at 8, but rarely on time. If you have centennial Bank your debit card will not work at the register, but it will work at the self checkout, If it’s online. The store is normally very crowded and always understocked, It’s very difficult to maneuver around especially if there’s another person in the same aisle. Dollar general does not pay the imported employees enough to care either. They always look depressed and run down. Awful, miserable experience here 9 out of 10 times.
9. Mexico Beach
Address: Florida 32456 , Mexico Beach , Florida , United States
10. Mexico Beach RV Resort
Address: 800 15th St, Mexico Beach, FL 32456 , Mexico Beach , Florida , United States
Great RV resort. Tiki bar, great live music, best pizza!
Great staff, awesome location to the beach.
Quite and private spots.
Nice RV park. Pool was great. The staff is amazing and super friendly!! Sites are very specious and great for big rigs!! Facilities are a bit run down but we would stay here again!!!
I never write reviews but I couldn’t let this pass. I know you all think you’re about to read a good tear down review but you’re not. This past weekend our family decided to take a much needed one night trip to the beach. We have been dealing with some heavy issues and needed some time away. When I pulled into the park my heart sank. I thought to myself, “Oh no Lord! Please tell me this isn’t it”. There was a lot of work going on. The sights looked bare and I was just determined this was a mistake. My husband being optimistic told me, “Just close the blinds and enjoy yourself. We’re only here to sleep”. We set up and went to the beach. We came back a few hours later and the kids decided to head for the pool. I walked over and checked it out and to my surprise it was all new and very nice. When they came in to get ready for showers and bed, I realized the park had went quiet. No yelling or screaming. No loud music. We slept like babies. The next day we were suppose to check out at 11. My husband talked to the lady in the office who was extremely helpful and polite. She arranged for us to have a Few extra hours. She also told my husband how they had worked hard to overcome the storm from two years earlier that had wiped everything out. She said they had the plans and was working on rebuilding but the problem lies in the fact that they can’t find the help to do the work. One of the men working in the office was actually outside helping paint, but took the tome to bring some water over to the pool explaining that it was hot and he wanted to make sure everyone stayed hydrated. That was above and beyond in my book.
I read all the reviews and I saw all the bad comments, however I know how we were treated. I apologize for my first impression of this place. I did not have a bad experience, as I thought was the case when I pulled in. Instead, it was a much needed weekend away and I was treated with nothing but kindness! I feel for sure we will visit again
Its a nice place. People friendly. Convenient to places and beach. Grass needs cutting.
Very expensive, not good conditons, when we arrived i just want to go back but they do not refund charge 175 for two nights, this is a 20 dollars place, the beach is not even close, will not come back.
I try to be an optimist, so against most of the recent 1 star reviews, I booked 8 nights here for spring break. We left 3 days early. The people in the office seem very nice, the groundskeeper Eddie was super friendly and seemed to work very hard mowing, raking stone and doing other maintenance type work around the property. The pool was very clean but was too cold for anyone to enjoy.
My issues with this campground are (1) there is no playground for kids (2) our site #27 was all sand, there was no stone or gravel, so it was impossible for anything and everything to not get completely covered (3) while I understand hurricane Michael completely devastated this area nearly 4 years ago, the mobile homes that are still vacant & trashed within the park made the park feel nothing like a resort.
I really hope the owners can get the funds/help they are lacking to turn this place around.
ZERO STARS!!! ANY OTHER RV SITE IS BETTER THAN THIS!! This was the worst RV experience ever. Rundown, outdated, trash piled at the dumpsters, brush overgrown pouring into the RV camp area—-not to mention the construction workers staying there that either follow you around constantly or wake you up with constant arguments— and that’s not including the POWER ISSUES THAT DAMAGED OUR RV!!! How do you run an RV site but know so little about maintenance/requirements in order to provide the BASIC NECESSITIES for an RV hookup?? I admit I don’t know much about it, but then again I’m not trying to cheat people out of their money either!! The first lot didn’t put out enough power although we were specific with our reservation, of course this was only admitted to after the owner tried to blame it on our RV as she tried to act like she knew what she was doing.. when the problem persisted her son showed up and finally made some sense and said we needed to move to a 50 amp lot — had this been given to us from the beginning, we would not have had to cut our vacation short and put our RV in the shop— but does the owner care?? Not at all!! She refuses to give a refund— my advice to you: save yourself the trouble and book elsewhere
11. St Joe Music Store
Address: 210 Williams Ave, Port St Joe, FL 32456 , Mexico Beach , Florida , United States
Great store. Very entertaining, and has great service.
DO NOT BUY from this store. I ordered two Boulder Creek basses with cases online, one fret less and one fretted. Owner Dave called me the next day to say the fretted one was on backorder. Within the next few days I learned that the entire amount had been charged to my card and the order had never been turned in. The only thing Dave had in stock was the two cases which he shipped. Owner Dave said he was going to ship the fretless but it never came. Long story short, I bought the fretless from another dealer while owner Dave promised me “with all his heart” that he would refund my money. Then Owner Dave “went dark” an the money never came. Fortunately, my bank settled a dispute for me and I got my money back. Owner Dave ripped us off. Not an honest man!
I have purchased numerous guitars, amps & accessories over the past 3 years from Beach Music. Best prices – not to mention that Sunshine provides the personal, no-pressure assistance welcomed to make the right purchase. I highly recommend visiting Beach Music for all your music needs.
Sunshine and Thunder are amazing people. I went in just to see about my fiddle strings and left 2 hours later. They are full of knowledge and experienced in a variety of musical instruments.
Beach Music also offers recording sessions, instrumental lessons, and tips on enhancing your voice. Panama City Beach is fortunate to have a shop and experienced Owners to offer anyone’s Musical Interests!
We drove 50 miles each way to purchase a guitar. The web site says open Sunday 12-4:00. They were closed! There is no excuse for that. I will not give them my money…..or else I’ll deduct the gas money and the cost of my “waste of time”on a guitar that I purchas!
I went into the place to check out the instruments and see what’s up and at first it seemed alright. They have an okay variety of instruments. But I wanted to try out a violin and they didn’t have any bows out and wouldn’t open one for me. Also the person working there said I couldn’t “jam” on any of their instruments. She said I could only play an instrument to hit a couple notes to see what it sounded like. If you want to go to a music store to enjoy yourself and play some music choose somewhere else. This is not the place for that.
This store is closed down and no longer here. Don’t Waste time coming
13. Super Scoops
Address: 1000 US-98, Mexico Beach, FL 32456 , Mexico Beach , Florida , United States
So every time we’d go in Panama City we’d come back too late and pass this place. Super Scoops opens at 3:00 and closes at 9:00PM. We made it our mission to get there before 9:00pm the night before our vacation ended. OMG so glad we did! Love the whole set up and decor! It was complete with music, lights, and corn-hole. The ladies were super kind and said we were welcome to stay and finish our corn-hole game even though they were closing up and leaving. The lights stayed on and it was a blast for us. When we come back this will definitely be our spot again. Thank you for the small details put into this space. It was fun time. There were options for the whole family. Ice-cream for me, snow cones for the kids who could t do dairy and Piñata cola smoothie for my hubby! Yay! All were delicious!
