The Horn Stash and Fix This is your go to place for all your concert band needs. Repairs and cleaning done at it’s best.
I took my flute in that hadnt been serviced in some time. They were able to clean it up and it ended up being less than they estimated. Very happy with the service and will likely be back again!
Good for repairs.not so good on consignment
Didn’t want to take the time to rent an instrument, kept pushing me aside to take faster services. I went to Quinlan and Fabish instead who were really helpful.
In response to the owner, I had no qualms stepping aside for the one customer, but then the clerk asked for a customer who had just entered the store to also step forward to take care of his needs first. That is the moment I realized my business was better suited elsewhere. The fact that the owner has time to sit and read reviews instead of serving the clients where there is clearly a need is a great sample of their business.
This is the worst experience I’ve ever had in 44 years as a professional musician! I wouldn’t allow any friend, enemy or student do business with this company! I recently tried out two horns. They sent them both to me, charging me 350.00 for shipping…rip-off. One horn was in such poor playing condition that it was back in the box in 5 minutes. The second wasn’t as as bad, but not good enough to keep. I sent them both back, at my expense, and was charged 15% to “restock”. These consigned horns. I called to see if there was anything they could do to not charge me for this, and was denied. So, it cost me over 1000.00 to try out two French horns. I would tell any band director, private teacher to NEVER do business with these crooks! I would give no stars, but it’s not an option.
Worst place don’t bother showing up .crappy service

The staff is very knowledgeable and they definitely take care of people who have been coming to them for years.
Great service!
They help you alot to chose the right instrument
I needed new strings for my violin. The workers were friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. They had quite a bit of selection but not every set of strings.
Good…..
Recommend
Good sounding violins. Knowledgeable staff
Extremely rude service and very expensive.
Five stars friendly atmosphere helpful very nice people
As an adult I was very nervous to attempt voice lessons but Ben B. made me feel comfortable. The techniques he showed me for breathing, reaching notes etc. helped me to improve. His high energy and great sense of humor made it all the more enjoyable!
This place has taught me so much piano and I have to thank all the teachers here!
Absolutely amazing school! My daughter loves her teacher – Lisa and she always can’t wait for the next class. I am so happy we found this great place to learn some music and develop new hobbies.

Thank you to Tom and the rest of TVK Orchestra for putting on such a memorable show for our wedding! Amazing talent and tons of fun the whole night. Our guests had such wonderful things to say about you guys and you really helped capture the vibe we were going for! Even though the DJ could use a little help with the list, still no complaints.
We’re so so happy we went with TVK Orchestra for our 4/30/2022 wedding, they made the night so memorable & fun! Our number one compliment at the wedding was how much everyone loved the band. As soon as they started to play they packed the dance floor and they kept it packed for the full night. Tom & Matt were delightful to work with leading up to the wedding, we could not recommend them more!
As an event and wedding planner and coordinator I see a lot of bands and there are few I would give a 5 star recommendation to. TVK absolutely is one of the best I have ever worked with! They kept the crowd dancing the entire night! There wasn’t 1 song when the dance floor wasn’t packed! Perfect Events by Jan will definitely recommend and used them again! WOW!!!

Working with David is amazing. From basic things all the way to things like ear training, and music theory. There is so much to learn from David. I most appreciated the honest feedback, this has had an enormous impact on my progress. David has also helped me create goals around what I most want to create with my music.
I met David through a friend. I bought a cheap guitar online that kept going out of tune and my friend gave me Dave’s number. I met with him about a week later and he fixed it for me-no charge. He offered me a free guitar lesson. I like his style of teaching, really laid back and patient. He’s also got a pretty extensive background in music including his own band which is cool (you know he’s not BSing and knows what he’s doing). I can tell he loves music and enjoys sharing that with others. I’ve been taking lessons now for over 6 months about every other week. He’s got a pretty flexible schedule. Sometimes we meet weekday evenings, sometimes weekends, it really just depends on my schedule. This has been a personal goal for me since I turned 25 and it feels great to finally be moving forward and learning. I feel confident that David could teach anyone to play.
David is a first-class musician. He is very skilled on voice, keys, guitar, songwriting, and performing and knows how to get people to place where they have confidence in their craft.

Elisabeth was a delight to work with from beginning to end. Her impeccable skill, dedication, attention to detail, and reasonable pricing were deeply appreciated. She also noticed and addressed multiple small issues with our cases, even though they were not within the scope of her responsibility. Our four violins and cello sound and look amazing! Will absolutely be returning again next time we are in the area.
I brought my cello here to repair some cracks that had reopened and to get my bow rehaired. She did an excellent job fixing the cracks and sent updates and pictures of the process to keep me informed. She also dressed the fingerboard and found a replacement bridge, had everything finished within a couple of days, and her prices are super reasonable. Highly recommended!
Went to get my bow rehaired.
It was very last minute and the really nice lady was able to take us and finish within an hour.
On top of rehairing, she also takes her time to clean the bow.
My bow is as good as new.
Incredibly happy with the service.

The most helpful people I have encountered in a long time. Took 30 minutes out of their day to talk about hi-fi, the good, the bad and the ugly for no reason other than to be helpful! If I lived closer I would be here weekly. Please keep up the excellent work!
Worked with Dave on solving an issue with our receiver, highly recommend Simply Stereo
Rod and his team provide absolutely the best customer service and their selection of speakers and equipment are better than you’ll find anywhere else. Having traveled around and listened to a number of other speakers, I was blown away by the Klipsch RF-7 II. Rod and his team installed a whole new home theatre setup for me and I couldn’t be more pleased. I’ll keep going to them again and again for my AV needs.

My daughter (6) started piano lessons, but we don’t own a piano. Wanted to start her out with a less expensive option so we could gauge her passion before making a major investment. I started looking at electric keyboards online and at several of the larger stores. Learned of the Sam Ash locations and visited their Buffalo Grove location. I was presented with several options from a very well-informed and friendly staff. Now I know why it’s best to go to the experts when seeking advice. Bought a digital piano that should serve our needs for some time until we are ready for an accoustic alternative. I like these folks.
Sam Ash in Buffalo Grove Rocks! We purchased an instrument for my son from Lisa a few months ago. Last week Lisa along with management went above and beyond when my son’s instrument began to have problems. Lisa looked the instrument over and found it to be at a total loss. My heart dropped until Lisa looked at me and said we will do what ever it takes to get your son back to playing. Lisa called me about an hour later and stated that they would exchange my son’s instrument out. My son and I came in the next day and Lisa told my son to go and select another instrument allowing him to take his time by letting him try several of them out. We have had wonderful experiences here in the past but this amazed me. We were expecting to pay a lot of money and we were gratefully surprised. Thank you Sam Ash!!!!
Received great service and paid reasonable prices. It is not just one person who is great. The entire staff are friendly, fantastic folks who totally care about making sure you have a great buying experience. Not to be cliché but I’ve tried all the rest and Sam Ash is the best!
Very friendly and enthusiastic people and good selections of products.
This Sam Ash store used to have LOTS of piano teaching resources but with each visit I’m noticing the supply is dwindling more and more and more. Very disappointing especially noting the quality music programs that are in the area and the need for materials. Hopefully they can get it together and keep the stock plentiful in the near future.
Had a hick up with an employee, but they very quickly resolved the situation. The manager Tod did a great job restoring my faith in the business.
Some employees are nice like the guy in drums but others won’t even give me the time of day. I go in with my boyfriend all the time and they will talk to him but ignore the crap out of me. They kind of treat me like I fallow him and his friend around and don’t play anything. When in reality I play bass in a band and I’ve played a wind instrument for 9 years. Other than the guy in drums no one has ever asked me anything about music, what I played, or if I was looking to buy anything. I work in customer service and this is totally not how it should be done.
The store and employees are nice, however they are in desperate need of a new manager. He is one of the most unprofessional and disrespectful persons I have meet. He got in my face and was yelling at me saying it was the law to tell him if I had been vaccinated. I’m 100% fine with people asking that if they are respectful, however this man was completely out of line and treated me with no respect or dignity. Our family has spent thousands of dollars at the store, but after this horrifying experience and out of control manager, we will never go back there. All of our cards and accounts have been canceled. If you like to be respected as a customer (and more importantly a human). I would not waste your time at the store, unless it falls to new management.
I was super excited to go to the same Sam Ash store that I had been so many times growing up. I hadn’t been there in at least 12 years. Now this time, I would be returning as a Dad, shopping for my daughters first guitar.
I drove through a yucky snowy day on a Saturday quite excited for this experience. I’ll cut to the chase though, I felt their Saturday staff was either sleeping, stoned, or just could care less about helping me.
They told me the ¾ scale Squier Strat I wanted for her was not in stock, yet I knew they had two from calling prior. I found both hanging in the racks on my own. After testing, I put the guitar down at the desk in guitars department, and waited, ready to buy it. I was also looking to buy the matching gig bag, knowing we would have to order it. There was a shorter, portly guy with long hair and a beard that pretty much stared at me blankly from the front of the store while I stared at the guitar desk waiting to be rang up. I had to walk over and actually ask him to come and help me. He was quite busy playing a bass behind the front desk. When inquiring about ordering the gig bag, he gave off the impression that this would be a lengthy burdensome task for him.
Their socially awkward, Saturday sales zeros made the decision easy for me as to where to buy the guitar and gig bag from. I have to say, the Sam Ash staff I knew a decade ago would’ve had this guitar and any accessories rung up on the computer ready to make the sale faster than you can say “I’ll just buy it online”. Honestly, they probably would’ve had it ready to ring up before I was even done play testing. Oh well. Times change!

At first I was turned off by the smell of cigarette smoke (which he informed me to be the odor of 7-11 coffee); however, once you get to know Ian you realize just how personable and relatable this Scottish bachelor is. His knowledge of the longer woodwinds and talent with working with kids is unlike no others in the Palatine region. In conclusion, I think Ian is a great musician, brother, and husband.
