Wonderful music store with a great family atmosphere. We go for piano lessons with Phyllis and love it! Always have to browse the stuff afterwards.
Very friendly staff good prices
Fantastic music store!
Very helpful, knowledgeable, nice
Muy surtido y los precios muy razonable
Great Store
Had to make a quick stop to grab a few things. I know it was closing time. I was trying to make it quick. When they started harassing my husband reminding him when they close he left and we took our business somewhere else. Customers want to feel welcomed, not reminded how unfortunate you are to have to lock the door right at 5:00.
The customer service is awful I definitely won’t be back there every again
3. Jerry Lee’s Music Store
Address: 101 West St Patrick St, St Marys, GA 31558 , Palmeira , Georgia , United States
We purchased our daughter’s trombone from Jerry prior to her first year in band this past summer. He’s great guy, very knowledgeable and knew exactly what we needed. We’ve been looking at a guitar for one of our other children (shh, don’t tell!) and when we’re ready to purchase, Jerry’s store will be the place because we know we can trust him.
Awesome little music store with knowledgeable helpful staff!
Had to replace my banjo strings while traveling through georgia. Stopped here being it was the closest place, but glad I stopped in. Very friendly folk
Neat little music shop with some quality products. Not a huge selection, but they have what you need.
I just dropped off my daughters trumpet for a stuck valve. I was promptly greeted with a friendly smile. When I get the horn back I will up date my review.
Nice people. They also offer classes at reasonable prices for any aspiring musicians.
If you are into electric guitars, the selection is very limited, and even the ones in stock had problems.
4. JAWS GUITARS
Address: 111 Mountain Vista Blvd #135, Canton, GA 30115 , Palmeira , Georgia , United States
Jim the owner is a nice guy, he has great guitar knowledge.
If you’re looking for a specific guitar part, this is your place.
Best store ever!
Cool store no other music stores in Canton owner is cool
Great sound equipment at reasonable prices compared to the big box music stores. The gentleman, who I assumed was the owner, was very knowledgeable about everything musical.
Knowledgeable, friendly owner. Cozy shop and nice environment. Now, if I could just magically learn how to play…..I’d give it one more star….
I needed a setup for my Gibson Les Paul and decided to give Jaws a shot because of their overwhelmingly positive reviews. I dropped of my guitar and told the luthier that I was experiencing a lot of fret buzz. The turn around time was very quick and I was able to pick it up the next day. I was told that there would still be some buzz based on my attack, which seemed like a cop out. I asked if there were any high frets and I was assured that there were none. I took the guitar home and played it to find that I was still experiencing buzzing even when strummed lightly. I pulled out the fret rocker to find that several of my frets were high despite what the shop told me. Overall, this was a waste of time and money and I’m very disappointed with the level of service.
5. Hickory Wind Music
Address: 671-799 S City Blvd, Waycross, GA 31501 , Palmeira , Georgia , United States
Billy is very helpful. He knows His stuff on musical instruments. He is also great to talk to you. Stanley
Owner is full of knowledge. Enjoyed talking and listening to his knowledge of musicians. Will definitely be returning. My first visit was so pleasant and informing I will definitely be returning and giving my business to Hickory winds as long as it is there.
Great customer service
Very small shop has a large selection of guitars and amps not much in other musical instruments not a whole lot in books to learn how to play nothing in the line of piano lesson books or keyboard looked like nice selection of guitar strings and picks staff was friendly Just not a big store.
Had to return vapes 3xs
6. Vintage Musical Instruments
Address: 42 Public Square S, Dahlonega, GA 30533 , Palmeira , Georgia , United States
It’s the coolest shop on the square in Dahlonega GA.
A little store with a lot of great instruments! John, the proprietor, is a musician in his own right, is very helpful with advice on all instruments for all styles.
Love this local shop. Unique vintage instruments for viewing.
I was disappointed with the repair work done on my guitar. It wasn’t a horrible job but it wasn’t a good job either.
The luthier wasn’t able to polish the frets because they didn’t have any high grit sandpaper so, I had to “polish” the frets with my strings from play wear and now my frets are “polished” very unevenly.
He seemed to do an okay job with the fret leveling and crowning but there are still some noticeable corners on about half of the fret edges and especially on the higher frets where people usually don’t play. (You can tell how he had it laid on the table because one side is relatively smooth and the other looks like it barely got any attention along with the nut which is just as sharp as before)
He also got multiple dings and scratches on my guitar neck. Which I personally don’t mind on the specific guitar I sent in, but I would be quite irritated if it happened to a higher end guitar. (It’s named ‘Rawhide’ which explains the guitar well)
So, pretty much I paid for an incomplete job where if I had the proper tools I could have done it myself and probably much better.
I’m not trying to start anything and I don’t want to get the Luthier in trouble, I just want to see quality work from the Luthier so *if* I ever bring in a higher end guitar I won’t have to sleep in fear worrying about possible damage.
My recommendation for the Luthier is if someone pays you to level, crown and polish frets, make sure you have ALL of the necessary tools and really take the time to do a good job on ALL of the frets. Also make sure to keep the guitar safe in the process.
If I had known what to expect for what I paid for, I would have pressed the Luthier to finish the job, but at the time I didn’t know what high quality frets were like.
Lastly, on an unrelated topic that really goes to personal preference, they require masks to enter the store, no exceptions. I don’t support being muzzled for a virus with a 99%+ survival rate and even 95%+ if you’re over the age of 70, where it’s so “deadly” you require a medical test just to see if you have it, and asymptomatic spread has been proven to be extremely rare, if not just another myth to keep us living in fear.
But to each their own.
I’m very disappointed in this “business” we had taken a family heirloom to him to be repaired, he said it would take two weeks. Hey, great you got a deal. Let’s go ahead and pay for it so you will have the money on hand to pay for the parts and your time. Three weeks later we have to call and the guitar still isn’t finished. Four weeks later we call once again it’s still not done. I go to the “business” to see if it’s even been touched, and low and behold it had not. He had already told us that sales from other people come first with it being around the holidays. Wait wait so a sale that was already made gets placed last?! That was my daughter’s Christmas present as well to hear the guitar play once again that her papa had gave to her 10 years ago, then he pasted away. I will never trust this place again repairs or to buy from!
Went to store this morning at ten after 11 and no one was there.
7. Town Center Music
Address: 4072 Suwanee Dam Rd NW, Suwanee, GA 30024 , Palmeira , Georgia , United States
Great products and service. He staff is very helpful and friendly.
You walk in, you’re met with both eye and ear candy, and you get the space you want or the answers you need to explore it. I used to drive to guitar center when I needed things, but now I just ask these fine folks and they either have it, or know how to get it, or have something better.
Always fast, friendly, knowledgeable service! I am so glad they are close by and that I can trust our guitar to them! They know exactly what needs to be done.
Much better store I not been here in a while the past manager was not a music guy or a manger known as a air head I will be back
Taught my kids to play guitar
Good
Went in there a couple days ago. Not a huge fan. Workers aren’t very pleasant people and they come up to you every 10 minutes kind of giving you the hint to leave if you’re not gonna buy anything like you’re in there too long.
Great for beginners I guess. Don’t come in here expecting higher quality equipment and experience. Name of their game is to hook beginners onto cheap equipment (which is totally fine) and get you out. No hanging out in there jamming for an extended time.
Maybe I came in on a bad day.
Wow. Just called Town Center Music. Someone answered. I started asking about a guitar I’m looking for and got cut off mid-sentence by the guy talking loudly to a co-worker. When he stopped talking I said hello? Hello? Nothing. A few seconds later he hangs up.
Store is dirty poor selection not real big
8. Paulding Music Center
Address: 10175 Dallas Acworth Hwy # 121, Dallas, GA 30132 , Palmeira , Georgia , United States
Great little place where I bring all my acoustic and electric guitars for string changes, set ups, neck adjustments, electronics repairs, and pickup swaps. John Walsh has done an excellent job of keeping my instruments in great playing shape, and he’s an awesome guy to boot – highly recommended!
Great store, I have bought several oboe reeds and now rent an oboe from them. Very curtious and appreciative of your business. I will do all of my music shopping here.
I love the owner up here. He is awesome to work with, so is everyone else. Decent selection, good prices. I’d highly recommend them. They give lessons as well. Shop local and privately owned!!!
Great owner named John Walsh. Very helpful and music instructors are the best
Their rentals come with repairs (at least that’s what I got)
Nice for quick nearby stuff. A little small shop so it’s not competitive and doesn’t have big selections. Sells some used items, does repairs (usually sent out), and has lessons
I placed an order last week and I called today to find out what the status was and the gentleman told me there had to be a certain dollar amount for all the orders to be placed. Had I know this when i first placed the order I would have found another store.
I’ve been shopping here for over a decade. This is the first time I have EVER had to make a return was today. I was told there was a 7 day return policy. NO WHERE on the receipt does it indicate a 7 day policy. Very disappointed that the owner John (after all these years being of being a loyal customer) argue with me over this return.
Poor teaching, and don’t miss a lesson without notice, they will not understand and will continue to take your money.
9. Ken Stanton Music
Address: 6010 North Point Pkwy, Alpharetta, GA 30022 , Palmeira , Georgia , United States
This shop is just on another level. No exaggeration – this is probably the best customer experience I’ve ever had at a retail store. If you’re in town, and in the market for a guitar, going to KSM and asking for Glenn is the way to go. Incredibly knowledgeable, very friendly, and understands the guitar trying and buying process. Cannot emphasize enough how pleased I was
So much better then guitar center, Jacob was very helpful.
Great! Thanks Mario
Friendly, very helpful
I am visiting from Las Vegas and found Cheney Brannon, in the drum department to be friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to spend a few minutes with me. Cheney will be getting a call from me next year when I will be ready to buy my new Tama Star or Starclassic kit……
There is a reason why I have only been in this store twice in ten years very unfriendly staff. It would get zero stars if possible but one is as low as it will go.
I bought a flute here then a month later it breaks while doing an E flat I am upset because I went again got it repaired then 3 days later it breaks
I waited a long time to get my things, such as my book, mouthpiece, and care kit. The care kit was not that bad, coming in after about 2 days, but the mouthpiece came after 15 DAYS– For ONE MOUTHPIECE. The book, though I had to wait even longer, but after I called them, I felt better about the service, as the employees were very helpful. The customer service is very good, but the shipping time is cruel.
10. Megatone Music
Address: 44b Town Sq, Blairsville, GA 30512 , Palmeira , Georgia , United States
My most recent purchase from Megatone was a vintage archtop guitar. Prior to that I purchased parts, strings, and small items. Regardless of the size of the purchase I was always treated well. During the process of buying this guitar I received friendly and helpful service. Never did I feel pressured to buy. I got a great instrument for a fair price. It was a complete pleasure to deal with these folks. A great store in the scenic mountain town of Blairsville.
Always plenty of variety with their guitars and pedals, and consignment was easy.
Knowledgeable and friendly staff. The place was nice and clean, and had a decent selection of instruments. A variety of electric and acoustic guitars, 12 string, banjo, dobro, mini, good amplifier selection. New and used equipment, parts, accessories. I went in to make some time while my wife was getting coffee around the corner and walked out with an amplifier. Would come again if I am in the area.
Ordered a brand new guitar for a present and it arrived with a scuff. Not sure if it was packed like this or it happened during transit. I sent a freindly message to Megatone Music about it and the initial response I got was that it was a mislabled used guitar, not a brand new one as advertized. Then he said that i scratched it and its not a big deal, my friend will be happy with a present. Not a pleasant expereince. Seller’s responses seem manipulative.
Scammers. Associate Darryl is a nasty individual and scams his customers. Stay away from this business.
Staff isn’t honest
11. Guitar Center
Address: 970 North Point Dr Suite A120, Alpharetta, GA 30022 , Palmeira , Georgia , United States
I already knew what I wanted when I was on the way to Guitar Center. I bought multiple products here and luckily the main product I was looking for had one remaining in stock. Jayme was incredibly helpful in assisting me in making sure I had the correct coverage and I was easily able to find everything I needed. A quick and simple transaction.
Awesome
Nice selection of goodies.
I bought my violin but the string is horrible so I have to go to the store and they hav to change it for me but every thing else was great
Depending on who you are the service is great.
Bought a 2013 Taylor here. Overall my first experience was pretty good. Went back to see the trade in value and was offered 250 when I paid 675 just 2 months previous. Sales Manager wouldn’t even look me in the eye. I recommend you stay away from this store and buy used if your an enthusiast. I’m shocked at how they treat loyal customers.
I truly wish I could give more stars because I used to LOVE guitar center. But after 3 bad experiences I felt that I needed to write this review. The first time was a few months ago when I purchased an expensive Taylor guitar. I got to play it about twice before I noticed that the top strap stud was completely loose and the screw had wallowed out the hole to where it would just pull out (keep in mind I never even put a strap on it). Took it back to this guitar center wanting to return my very expensive guitar and swap it for one that wasnt defective and was denied because it was 3 days outside the return date. I was told to bring it to the repair counter where they just got a longer screw and drove it in deeper. The second time I came in was to buy a Les Paul and walked in the store (which was empty) and shopped around then sat holding and playing one for about 20 minutes before I could flag someone down and tell them I wanted to buy it. They didn’t have one in a box so we ordered one. Once I actually got someone to help me he was very friendly and helpful. I just wished he would have informed me about intonation and the service they offered because I got home, tuned it and played it thinking something was wrong with it. After a bit on google I learned about intonation and Les Paul guitars. So I go back again looking to pick up a case and hoping to get my intonation adjusted. Go to the counter and there is 5 guitars sitting there and the tech says it will be 3 days before he can even get to my guitar. So I say never mind and head to the cases. Again this store is dead it’s the middle of a Wednesday and I stand around looking at this one case I wanted waiting for someone because there was no price shown and I wanted to know how much it was. Waited and waited and waited and not one single person came up to me. So I got sick of waiting and left, you tubed how to set up intonation on a Les Paul and did it myself. I’m going to try the Gwinnett Guitar Center before I give up on them completely. Hopefully they will be better.
It’s hit or miss at this location. Some employees are nice and a joy to work with and some are complete a-holes. I’d recommend ordering online and picking up in-store. With that being said I still wouldn’t recommend going to this location
