The guy set up my age string Ibanez RG 8 and my five string Music Man Stingray Bass to a level of perfection I had never seen. I will not take my instrument anywhere else.
I give Tim and Harry of Atomic Guitar Works 10 stars !!!!!!!!!!
Definitely recommended …….!!!!!!!!!!
I brought my guitar in peices to Atomic Guitar Works and asked Harry if he could bring this back to Life. I expressed this had been given to me from my brother back in the 70’s and has a lot of sentimental value to me. Harry asked me exactly what I wanted to do with it as I thought it would just become wall art instead of a functional guitar. Harry went through the electronics and made some excellent recommendations I was onboard to see this come to life once again.
Harry and Tim brought it back better than I could have imagined.
Not only does this Vox Electric play fantastic but looks incredible.
(Maybe Atomic Guitar can post a picture of this ?. I would not mind at all.)
A lot of work went into this and it shows. Harry also took pictures as it progressed back to Life… I am so truly grateful to Harry and Tim for there professional art , craftsmanship. Thank you Thank you !!!
( I have since brought in two acoustics for some work with confidence of true professional work experience and ethics)

A great place to get a custom made guitar
You have been warned. They talked like they knew the product very well to build trust. They overpromised and underdelivered when I got my guitar back and still wanted to make excuses???, the work I asked for was clearly stated in the receipt.
Small but impressive guitar shop. Nice selection of after market parts and strings.
The guy who answered the phone was a jerk. I took my guitar to someone else.
I took a mid-level Martin to them with a crack. They humidified it to where the crack closed. They told me it was repaired but to be sure and keep it humidified. The fact is they humidified and the crack closed they didn’t do the repair but they charged me for it.
Just got off the phone with one the associates here. Arrogant and unhelpful.

I purchased my Warwick Streamer a few months ago from here via the internet, but finally got to to meet the great folks here, thanks to work sending me to the Phoenix area. I met Randy who was the best salesman ever! No pushing, but was very kind in allowing me to see a few bases, many I have never seen in the flesh. Randy introduced me to the rest of the staff there who were very helpful and gave me advice on how to set up my bass according to my requirements.I could not be any happier parting with my hard earned cash with these wonderful people. We need quality dealers like The Bass Place who clearly focuses on customer service as opposed to guitar center, which use to be good a decade or so ago, but has transformed into the wal-mart of music stores. I highly recommend this store if you are in the market for a quality instrument. The Bass Place ROCKS!!!
Great place to drool over high end Basses
the first time i visited this store (back when they were is scottsdale) the owner was real smug. defiantly left me with a bad taste in my mouth. i decided i would give them another try when they moved and almost got a Lakland from them but money fell through. i just called them 10 minutes ago to ask about the eden WTDI box. the man on the phone sounded annoyed and was rushing me off the phone. i asked about the return policy and he hesitated and said 48 hours. i commented that that was not very long and he said “then maybe you should go buy it somewhere else”
i will NEVER go there again!
Ordered a Fender CS 1964 Jazz Bass shipped to another state sight unseen from this store. I don’t know where they got this bass, but is was supposed to be brand new and it was not up to par. Wanted to send it back right away and that’s where things got complicated. Lots of attitude from the salesman and the owner of the store. The personality change between the sale and return was remarkable and strange. While there was a “satisfaction guarantee” it placed the agency on the buyer to sort this out.
4. The Bass Place
Address: 9880 W Peoria Ave, Peoria, AZ 85345 , Peoria , Arizona , United States
I can’t recommend this place enough! I’ve used them for years for setups and repairs, and I’ve never had a problem, needed anything redone, or had to complain
The service is always stellar! I just got a bass back, and I had brought along strings for the setup. They ended up not fitting, but The Bass Place had a set that fit a pretty obscure set of requirements (scale length and string number) on-hand, so me providing the wrong strings didn’t delay my bass getting back to me at all!
If you haven’t tried this place, you should
5. Rock-N-Roll Warehouse
Address: 9299 W Olive Ave, Peoria, AZ 85345 , Peoria , Arizona , United States
Scott has always had the best items out there. Top quality every time and pro level service for 20 years now with absolutely NO complaints. I always know the next transaction will be a positive one.
The world needs more awesome people that revert the roots and legs of rock n roll to what it is. Thanks guys! m
They have great authentic items and Scot and his staff are very professional and nice people to deal with. Highly recommended company!
Buyer beware!!! They have been know to sell counterfeit items, and engage in “bait and switch” sales.
6. Riverton Piano Company
Address: 9299 W Olive Ave Suite 608, Peoria, AZ 85345 , Peoria , Arizona , United States
We bought a Roland 607 digital piano in their Peoria store. Gary is very helpful and have made lots of Youtube videos showing everything the piano can do. They also have recommended apps to use with the Bluetooth connection.
Finally the delivery and installation was timely and professional.
This was the easiest large purchase I’ve ever made. Howard Kessler and James Harding represent Riverton Piano Company very well. Their communication from purchase to delivery and now support is top notch. It’s nice how quickly they respond. I love my new Baby Grand!
We had the easiest, best experience purchasing our piano from Riverton! James was a huge help and made sure we ended up with the piano of our dreams.

Brian is a talented string instrument guy and easy to work with. Found myself guitarless in Phoenix for a month and needed something reasonably priced to play. He fixed me right up, a really pro setup, changed out for better strings, and reasonably priced amd a great guy to do business with
Brian was great at communicating with me, very easy to work with, and found the best mandolin based on my needs. I would recommend anyone looking for a mandolin to reach out to Brian, he’s the best there is.
Kyle in guitars is amazing! We learned more about guitars in an hour with him than we have in all our years playing and recording music in the valley!! We’ll be back!
Great service and friendly people! I would tell any of my friends to go and check it out!
The guitar department manager gave me a great deal and is very informative and sales guys are great too.
Hats off to Sam Ash Phoenix AZ!!!!!
Always a better option than guitar center. Nice guys, always have good used gear. great selection.
A very good music store even though they didn’t have what I wanted.
Nice experience’s shopping buying and selling. Great staff..thanks
Great place with a good inventory for beginners to the most experienced. Lots of helpful and knowledgeable staff.
As a store this is a lovely place. The other departments were nice. But I have no clue what happened to the DRUM department.
They have close to 15 electric kits set out and today when I went in to test some of them out, I could not. They were all broken, not properly plugged in, or half set up. The only kit I went in there to play was the new Roland electric because I am actually considering getting one. It was plugged in ready to go set up and everything and yet I still couldn’t play it because it was on display on a large stage and the employee told me serious offers only. Guess he didn’t want the commission.
The acoustic kits were in bad shape, out of tune, and the only acoustic kit I was told we are allowed to play is in the sound proof cymbal room. Before I went in I was told to “keep it down”…(Drums?) I proceed to go in there to play and they didn’t even have decent pedals or cymbals on the kit anyway. Whomever is in charge of this department should no longer be. The drum department is in need of some tender love and care. Sam Ash used to be a musician haven to come in and try stuff out and make some purchases.
This is the first time I have been in years and it will be years before I ever go back. I am heartbroken and so very disappointed.
The selection is pretty lame in the drum section
I have my first visit to Sam Ash today, and unfortunately, was not impressed. I was in the store around 15 minutes, walked past at least four store associates, and not one of them spoke or offered to sell me anything. I needed a new interface, three mics, a new set of headphones, and all kinds of wires for my home studio; could’ve easily spent over $1000 in the store… Only there were no associates walking around that I could find. The only one I saw at the counter where the microphones and interfaces for around 10 minutes and watched the only associate in that section talk to one lady (I think had already checked out), and even take the time to look at her pictures on her phone. I understand a great customer service experience comes with a certain level of conversation. However with my experience, I had no conversation with no associate in the store . I saw the microphones I wanted, so I was really disappointed… On my way out a man says “thank you for coming in” and that was was my entire experience. The store was pretty empty, so I felt ignored. Luckily Music & Arts had the same stuff.

Great Minds = quality music education!!! Love this school and their dedication to serving our students. I happily support and recommend them.
My daughter participated in a music camp here over the summer. She had SO much fun, and the live show they put on for us was great! Definitely recommend this group!
Worst music education ever!
Don’t use these people

I visited the store on June 6th to get a few supplies for next school year (I’m a band teacher) and Nikki, the manager, was very helpful. One item I wanted wasn’t in the store, so she ordered it for me. I happened to see a ukulele that I really liked, which I hadn’t planned on, but I purchased it along with a couple of ukulele books. I wanted a hard case to protect the instrument, so Nikki ordered that for me as well. All the while she was training 2 new employees. I got a call that my items were in and picked them up this Monday. Nikki was there again and waited on me again. She’s very friendly, helpful and professional. I’m happy with my purchases and the service I received.
Very nice change of pace from the Walmart vibe of Guitar Center. Nice selection and competitive prices.
it was a great place to go to and i appreciated how i learned hoe to work my instument
Staff was super
We have not had a bad experience yet. Everyone is lovely.
Jih ill
They have major issues with repair services and admiting/taking responsibility when their repair services have done the wrong thing. I realize they outsource repairs but they need to take responsibility when it goes wrong. The first incident was an instrument I asked for only a quote because no one was even playing the instrument. The person who took the instrument wrote on the repair request “Provide quote before repairing”. Nevertheless, they repaired it without my consent and tried to charge me $250. I refused to pay that and they allowed me to pay the shop minimum which was I think $150 at the time, maybe $180. Amazingly, I continuted to give them my business… But then this year we’ve been in to repair an instrument 3 times (not the same one as the previous incident). The first time we did a complete overhaul, replacing pads and parts, etc. But then a few months later, we took it in for a leak and it somehow needed new pads again??? Then a few months later, it had a wiggly key… They sent a quote to replace MORE PADS. So I asked to verify that they indeed fixed the wiggly key and was assured that yes, the key was being fixed also. Go to pick up the instrument and it’s not fixed, but the manager says “it’s in working condition and that’s what you asked for”. Indeed, not what I asked for, I was quite specific at the drop off as well as the follow up email that the wiggly key needed to be fixed. I understand if you’re unable to fix it but don’t charge me for things I didn’t ask for.
Since this has happened so many times now, I feel their repair service is up-charging, replacing things that are not asked for, etc, to get more money from people.
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. My son left the bells at school over the summer. They wanted $250.00 in lost instrument fees and wouldn’t take the instrument back until the equipment was with it or the fees were paid. I explained that I am now out of state and have no contact with my son’s mom and have very little chance of getting the missing parts back but would try if they would accept it as is. They wouldn’t! They said if I tried to leave it, they would call the police. I left if anyway! I will never use this place or recommend them to anyone else and will make it a life mission to hurt their business.
I had very bad experience with this store, firat I have been a customer for more than three years, one time my credit card did not get through and they send me a letter in the mail I contacted them as soon as get the letter but they charged me a late fee!!!
Second each time I walk to this store I need to spend at least 30 minutes due to the staff shortage, one only employee there and she responsible for two registers and phone!!
Last time I went to exchange my daughter instrument it took more than one hour !! Again only one employee there and she said the system is slow and suggested twice to me to leave and come back!
Never come back here again.

Very kind stuff and lots of cool stuff! Check this place out !
Great customer service , I’m definitely gonna be coming here a lot.
Cool place. Will be back with my people.
I called on a phone to see if they took graded cards don’t know how they are actually but over the phone they seemed pretty nice
It wasn’t easy getting attention from the employees. But I probably just look like a random mom up in there anyways.
cool!
I had a poor experience with the trade counter. I brought in a couple of items to trade and had an item in hand from the store ready to make a trade deal. There was only one other customer in the store but no customers at the trade counter. After about 20-30 minutes I asked him if he a rough estimate on how much time it would take. He hadn’t even looked at my items yet and could not give me an ETA. So I politely asked for my items back, placed the item I wanted back on the shelf, and left. Really made me feel like they don’t care to have my business. The owner and store manager are very nice people, but this was not a good experience for me.
They totally lowed ball for our stuff! And sell the stuff over priced! Unbelievable if I could give this place a negative stars I would. We looked up everything and for everything would of been like 800 to 1000 dollars and only offered us 160.00 unbelievable. I’m thinking of calling the better business.
The owner told me if I gave a 5 star review then I would get a discount, but I had to be honest this place is horrible. They take advantage of people who are in need and give them the lowest possible amount for trade ins. If your thinking about trading in stuff here; Don’t! You are better off selling it yourself on Mercari or even OfferUp. The customer service is also not very good.
15. Guitar Center

Always a good experience with Alvin, He reminds me of Ozzie Osborn
Very Nice easy exchanges Thank You Alex
Employees always answer my questions thoroughly and never pester me when I’m playing with the instruments. Very welcoming
Excellent variety of guitars, good offers, nice place and excellent service
Really not into buying anything from anyone???????
Kool
Bizarre guitar has cheaper strings, cables, and plectrums
We wanted to buy a set of speakers so chose this location and had a few questions on them but the employee in the audio section was horrible. Had us wait a good 20 minutes until he “freed” himself as he just talked with someone while leaning lazily at the counter before literally dragging his feet over to help us, yawned the whole time, never smiled, mumbled more than answering anything, and in the end he just got up and walked off. We ended up choosing what we thought would work and went to the front counter to pay, which was strangely empty, looked around no employees anywhere. After a few minutes contemplating and just waiting for someone to ring us up the same audio guy came out of some side office and just walked past staring, no attempt to help or even call someone. So we ended up leaving without buying anything, due to both unanswered questions and just complete lack of service. Will be buying just not from this location, would rather travel further to get better customer service. Never have had an issue at the 2 Guitar Centers in Tucson so clearly retraining is really need at this particular location.
Selection is good as with most GC stores. My problem lies with the employees there. On two separate occasions I found them lazy, uninformed and agitated when I had the audacity to ask for an amp new in the box instead of the one that was on the floor as a display when I decided to purchase it. I will not be back.

19. Boogie Music
Address: 3562 W Cactus Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85029 , Peoria , Arizona , United States
Great service! They’ve been serving the west valley for a long time. Love that they have lesson space in the back.
Large variety for smaller family owned store
Knowledgeable staff was able to provide information and parts to fix my guitar that the other 2 big box guitar stores were not. In the future I will be shopping Boogie first!
They are very helpful and answer my questions about learning how to play the guitar.
I just want to give smaller independent shops my business but selection is rather limited here. When I inquired about an item, they actually looked it up on the Sam Ash website and advised they can order it but 1) I’d have to wait until they do their next order, 2) it would cost more than at Sam Ash, Guitar Center, and Amazon and 3) I’d have to pay for shipping. Seriously, if that’s the way you can give me something you don’t have you’ve just GOT to know that’s a crappy deal for me. Just tell me to buy it elsewhere and that you hope you can help me with something else. They can’t seriously expect me to find that even remotely okay can they?
I got my first drum set from Boogie 20 years ago. They’ve been in business a long time! They have competitive pricing and a pretty good selection of great. I would suggest Boogie music over one of the larger chain music stores because of their competitive pricing, in-depth knowledge of their products, and quality customer server.
Worst music store in Phoenix! Old man that works there has a bad attitude and lies about guitar prices! Definitely not going back there ever again!
The only reason I go to Boogie Music is for the absolutely wonderful work the Luthier, Brent does on my guitars at a very reasonable price. He gets 5 stars!!! Also the instructors are very good, at least I can say that for the guitar instructors. Now the reason for the rating. They have poor selection and fairly high prices. As far as guitars go, they only stock Taylor guitars (which are very good). Go try them there and find a better price on line. They do have some electrics, but mostly used or consignment. Now, the number one reason for the poor review is the owner. I give him a rating of ONE! To say this man is unpleasant, is being generous. He doesn’t want to answer or makes you wait for the simplest of question. He can’t handle more the one thing at a time. He will not let you see or talk to the other staff in the shop. Just today I picked up a couple of guitars I had work done on. The luthier was out. I said OK and paid for the work and took my guitars. I got home check them over and all was perfect. I wanted to call the shop and thank Brent personally for the fine work. The owner answered the phone and I asked to speak to Brent. He said, he’s to busy and we are taking all calls for him. Didn’t ask if I could leave a number and have him call me back. No pleasantries of any kind and would not let me speak with him, period! No other options where given to me. I have been going there because of the luthier for over two years now. I stopped going for months because I didn’t want to run into to the owner. So my suggestion is, if you want great work done on your guitar and can avoid the owner, go. Otherwise find somewhere else. All the other staff is quite pleasant. Unfortunately I will have to find another place to go. I’m not willing to deal with that kind of altitude and service from this person.
500+ schecter guitar I wanted to trade in BRAND NEW. wanted to give me 200. Sam Ash offered to fix the floyd for 80. Sam ash thanks you for your business
20. Walmart Supercenter
Address: 7975 W Peoria Ave, Peoria, AZ 85345 , Peoria , Arizona , United States
We get everything we need special the craft department
I like the service always nice people there always find something I need
Great prices
Very busy store that can be very difficult when it comes to finding parking spots. Every time I’ve been to this particular store, I have had trouble finding a check out line that wasn’t completely packed.
Otherwise, it’s like most other Walmarts.
They usually have what I need.
Not very clean and staff is not always helpful or friendly
I purchased the “pit crew” oil change about 2 weeks ago. I’ve been noticing a constant oil drip since having the work done. I inspected the oil filter and saw that it doesn’t fit properly. I took a picture of the filter and looked it up on the Walmart website where I used the “will this item fit my vehicle” tab. IT DOES NOT FIT!! WALMART MECHANICS PUT THE WRONG OIL FILTER ON MY BRAND NEW ENGINE!! I’m appalled, disguted and will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Let’s hope this doesn’t effect my engine or I’ll be hiring a lawyer as well.
None of your bussiness
Kris (Female) with customer service was more than willing to give me an attitude than to actually assist with my return, went to another walmart with zero issue! . AVOID
