This is the only place that is allowed to work on my Gibson Custom Shop. The tech at this place really knows his stuff and everything that is worked on is returned in nothing short of incredible condition. DO NOT GO IN HERE TO TRY OUT A BUNCH OF GUITARS! when you buy a new guitar from Flores it is guaranteed that 100 people haven’t fingered it before you bought it. Their new guitars are new and they can sense the “i just want to play some guitars” instead of buying one. Best Shop In Town bar none!
Very nice people….
Had very good advice, obvious they are more than willing to help with any guitar issue…..very workable…….top shelf……
They replaced all of my guitar strings so I looked around the store in the meantime. All of the employees were so nice and helpful. Can’t wait to go back.
It was awesome na Kevin Gray Is such a good drum teacher
Pros: I just moved here and was told by a guitar center employee that Flores music down the road has the best guy around to diagnose a problem I have with my very expensive guitar. Three shops had tried and failed at this point. I wish I could remember the technicians name; it started with a “j” I know, he takes one look at the guitar and checks a couple things. He then tells me that the problem is easily fixed. I tell him I’ve heard that before. But while I waited he fixed the buzzing problem and even corrected a couple other things that were bad. I’ve never had a guitar play this well ever! The con is when I was done thanking the savior of my taylor guitar a man from the store got mad at me for peeking my head in the shop to talk to the technician who I am trusting with my guitar. Sorry Flores music for bothering you with my business. Great repairs and lousy customer relations.
Nice music store.
WENT HERE WITH MY MOM AND DAUGHTER , people act like they are too busy to help paying customers that have been a customer for years . SHOP AT SWEETWATER , OR SAM ASH THEY Treat you like customers not trash !! Family is done shopping here endnof story you should too this place is NO GOOD THUMBS DOWN !!
Do not visit if you have brown skin. Clearly has a preference for whites only…. cannot believe this place and the racist service exists in 2014!!! Had a horrible experience. They would rather not serve me or take my money….. beware black and brown people of Peoria!!!
I have bought $1,000’s worth of stuff from this place. I always have felt like I had been treated fairly and given a good deal. I have even taken some of my stuff in to have it repaired and cleaned. I bought a fantastic pair of speakers no one has heard of and that have a goofy connection on the back. I went in and spoke with them about it and decided to try banana plugs. I was under the impression that if it didn’t work I could bring it back in and return it. So my wife stops in with the original receipt and in the original packaging (unopened) and they refuse to give our money back. In store credit is all I can get. It’s terrible business practice and I should have been told up front that they would not except the return, especially since I had been talking to them about what I was doing. I will from now on do my business elsewhere.
3. Ribbon Records
Address: 641 W Main St, Peoria, IL 61606 , Peoria , Illinois , United States
Great deals on records, CDs, and vintage clothes. I just got an America CD for only $3!
Large vinyl selection of 33 albums and 45s. Many albums unmarked in crates which could be hidden treasures but I didn’t have time to check them out. Pricing was very fair.
Fun looking through all the records and cool clothes
This record selection is a serious diamond in the rough. I have visited sooooo many stores with such watered down, combed over selections and it’s so nice to see Red Ribbon taking such care to carry truly rare and excellent albums on vinyl alongside the undeniable staples. The cd stock was pretty much like that of a Goodwill though.
Good place to find solid used vinyl.
Great place, nice selection.
4. Guitar Center
Address: 2601 W Lake Ave, Peoria, IL 61615 , Peoria , Illinois , United States
Very friendly and knowledgable staff. They helped me order something they didnt have in store.
Good service
Lots of variety in their products and great customer service
Great selection and good customer service. Plus they let you play with the toys 🙂
Always fun to see what’s new. I wish there were more musicians when visit though.
Went in 3 weeks ago as I am in the market for a new guitar on a slow week night. I was there for about half an hour and passed no less than 4 employees and never got so much as a “hello” The sad part is that I had a healthy budget and was ready to buy that day. I have to wonder how many other sales go walking right out their door to purchase online. They had fewer customers than salespeople but managed to avoid all of us. Needless to say, I made my purchase elsewhere, and I will not be back.
I will never go back to this place. Rude employee.
If you are a musician and don’t need to learn anything, the prices are OK. If you are a novice or need advice, avoid. The employees don’t engage you, don’t know much about what they are selling and the instruments are covered in dust.

We make this gem a must visit each summer when we come through Peoria.
Found some great treasures there!
Best record shop around. Hands down. could spend hours looking thru everything and enjoying all the stories the owner tells
It’s ok they have so much stuff in boxes, and storage containers It’s a mess In there. So they may have tons of good stuff but don’t know because in boxes or storage bins. The place is kinda hard to get around to check things out.
When in for a few thing,z talked to a few people , great place to go ton,z of music
Great selection at a fair price!
Good selection of records. Giving two stars because was on the gander for a nice Outkast record & the owner says he doesn’t carry hip hop records to “keep those type of people out”. Very gross & tasteless comment.
Eh
Lots of oldies rock if that is your thing. Prices way too high.
6. Don’s Music Land

He knows what he’s doing, from simply fixing a string to detailed restoration and fixing wiring! He’s a great guy who is easy to talk to and very upfront! Highly recommend to anyone! You’ll get the best work and can trust him with your favorite instruments!!
Aaron at Whiskeytown is the only place I take my guitars to get worked on. I’ve sent him several high-skill jobs that other local “bigger” (cough, cough) locations wouldn’t even look at, cause they couldn’t do the job due to company regs or just didn’t know how. That’s the confidence I want when I have a rare vintage guitar that needs detailed repair…NOT. Took the same guitars to Aaron and he nailed them…great job, fair and accurate quotes and timelines, realistic expectations set and exceeded. He’s worked on several high end vintage Martins for me, including the ’67 D35 from the attached photos. The thing was a mess from a previous owner with a wood glue complex–bridge loose, binding everywhere, poor action and ruined frets. Aaron did an amazing job and now this beautiful old guitar looks and sounds better than I could have imagined when I took it in. Can’t see myself taking my stuff anywhere else! Please do yourself a favor and do the same.
Professional and passionate about his work. Aaron really knows what he’s doing!
11. Warehouse Recording Studios
Address: 203 Persimmon St, Peoria, IL 61602 , Peoria , Illinois , United States
A great selection of pianos and the salesperson was very knowledgeable about all of the pianos. We did find a piano and purchased it that day.
Recently bought a old and rather battered piano from the section of the store way in the back (hah). I love the thing! I felt it was a great deal and the gentleman that sold it to me was extremely professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Delivery was a cinch–they were willing to coordinate schedules with me with no problems at all. My daughter and I couldn’t be happier.
Very personal and professional services!
